Oh he was certainly painful to play during the anniversary with all the invisibility and portals lol it seemed like 90% of the time i always ended up against portals, Which would drag the match on and on

Yeah I suffered through three matches with him and then switched to Clown and Dracula for the duration.

  • I'm doing pretty well on both sides.

But yeah killer has been a vibe this time around. I'd probably only play killer if the queues weren't what they were. The hatches cause most of my escapes. Once they appear I get a little lazy. On survivor, I often get said hatches myself. But that's because it's not uncommon for me to be the best player in the match. That's not meant to be a boast. I'm not very good. These other people are just horrible, killers and survivors alike.

Who are the 2v8 people? Where do they come from? Why are they so bad?

I have enjoyed playing as The First as well. Infact out of the whole roster I find him to be the most comfortable and stress free to play as. Hes even capable of making bully squads go "oh its him.. I guess we should do gens" lol @cogsturning

I actually kinda feel the opposite because if I get a bad map I'm immediately angry. If it's Trickster's Delusion I'm getting like 2 hooks and then breaking my TV. No killer has made me rage like Henry.

I never said something about the doxxing stuff, I just said that his discussion about the game videos are actually good. I’m not defending him but he shows in his videos how people like Scott lie about him and he proves he didn’t do the doxxing. Most people I saw accusing him of doxxing, lying or something else never show evidence. Cry as much as you want, bhvr agreeing with me just proofs me right.
And for where I got my points from, my own experience with this perk, I made that clear in my original post and I never named any CC before right now.

Congratulations you lost to a „random guy“.

My guy that's a really cute fantasy but your one post that almost no one engaged with except to say you were wrong didn't get that perk nerfed.

And you are defending him, and supporting him by watching his content. Even if the only thing that's true is the disgusting stuff he has personally said than that's more than enough.

The downvotes on a dying forum are cracking me up tho. Keep going.

Rivers content might not be for everyone, but his videos of dbds balancing an design like his Blight or Ghoul video are some of the best Dbd videos. And the recent one is great too. If he was wrong about his takes in Dbd why can’t anyone proof him wrong? Everyone just insults him or says he is wrong without points such as in my Self Preservation post. You are just mad they nerfed it and used my main point under the patch notes. GG

Your main point? Yeah, it was all your doing, random guy. Which of your parasocial obsessions did you get your main point from anyway? Since all you ever seem to do is reference some CC.

"Not for everyone" he's a troll that makes jokes about ######### and people dying, not to mention the doxxing, and was banned from the game. Defending someone that gross because he knows about some stupid video game is repulsive.

Edit: lol at you downvoting me. Oh no what will I do?

  • @HexFelix said:

Killers having a chance against swfs doesn’t mean the killer is broken. Rivercivers latest video also shows why Judgment (and a couple of other killers) are way to babified. He has good points on why these killers suck again decent teams most of the time and why the current design of killers suck.

Referencing one of the game's most vile and detestable pieces of trash is one hell of a self report.

  • It should be saved but why would they archive a decade of criticism that can be continuously accessed and referenced when they can just nuke it? It lines up with how the forum has been. A lot of great contributors were banned over minor infractions after years of engagement. Many others simply stopped speaking out of fear. Threads were deleted too. Many, many comments as well. They clear weeds with a flamethrower around here, and it'll finally be nothing but scorched earth.

For any of the old heads who see this, regardless of how we may have gotten along over the years, your dedication is appreciated. If not by BHVR, than it should be by each other. Regardless of blatant or unintentional biases, there have been a multitude of perspectives that provided a wide range of insights, criticisms, over/under sights, and legitimately valuable feedback. Everyone knows that individual communities get swarmed with biases to the point of becoming echo chambers, but having a forum that worked in the most literal interpretation of the word for so long is something that this game sorely needed and benefited from.

For anyone who put more thought into their perspectives than emotion, more intention than reaction, more care than frustration, regardless of right or wrong, your input to the forums was a positive contribution. When you think about the fact that this post doesn't necessary address the people who wear their insights on their sleeves, keep in mind that will be the future of feedback for the game going forward. For all the "X platform is Y biased," that will be their only avenues of feedback going forward. Whether that means they'll be able to better disseminate feedback or get lost in a contradictory sea of warring factions, only time will tell. But the names that have been here for the majority of the game's lifespan, genuinely wanting the game to be a better experience irrespective of personal gain, you're all appreciated. If not by the developers, than by the people who shared the same goal. If I can't speak for everyone in that camp, I can at least speak for myself.

Thanks for the discussion, and the exchange of ideas.

Well put, and I'm glad you stopped by for the end. You were one of the few people that could have lengthy disagreements without stooping to anger and vitrile. It's something sadly disappearing from the internet and it's about to get just a tiny bit more rare.

  • For dbd characters it's Felix, for no reason other than that I randomly picked him when I started playing survivor and he became my personal main character. I'm just so used to looking at him that he's the survivor for me.

For killer, even though Wesker is one of my favorite all time characters and I came to dbd for him—and even with a lot of hours in him—I don't love his kit. Gameplay-wise I guess it's become Henry. He immediately became my main when he dropped and I've barely played anyone else since. He's also the only ranged killer I play. I never understood how characters like Wesker had dbd-specific fans who'd never played an RE game before but now I have a toy of this guy on my desk and I've never seen Stranger Things so I guess I get it now.

Now, given that skill in DbD is made up of human characteristics, like reaction time, spatial awareness, the ability and willingness to cram a ton of worthless information about killer powers, maps, addons, and perks into your head, and the mechanical ability to execute on that information, you would need an incredibly compelling argument for this non-normal distribution to be true.

    I have one.

And that's that the game is incredibly hostile to survivor players, driving most of them away. This means the only ones left to keep playing survivor are

    A) New players who are fresh to the game and haven't been beaten down yet.

    B) Die-hard try-hards that are determined to chisel out a win no matter the odds.

Thus you get a chunk of players on the lower end and a chunk of players on the higher end, but way fewer in the middle, as that's where the game is brutally unfair to the player and they're also experienced enough to see the pattern and decide to quit.

    That's my theory.

I've felt this way for awhile. There's a pattern to it. I've made friends and watched them go from appreciating the game in a simple way, being goofy, and not caring about outcomes, to getting more intense and fustarted as the obvious trajectory of lost matches emerges and the opponents become more hostile. Many burned out and never came back. Others became killer mains. It usually seems to happen around 1k-3k hours. That's the hump period, where you either dig your heels in or leave.

  • There are too many to name and if I try I'll forget some so I just won't. Most of y'all already know who you are though, and I'll still be talking with many of you after the 31st. I'll just say I've appreciated all the arguments, discussions, and even the insults. I've lost sleep to lengthy debates, had my partner mock me for being on my phone too much, and I've had a schizophrenic DM or two. Looking back now it's all been very stupid and entertaining and I'm glad I could talk to so many people passionate about this silly game. Forums are a dying concept and there's so little true interaction on the internet nowadays, and this is one more tiny cut towards the death of real conversation. So thanks to everyone who managed to write more than single sentences for helping to keep it alive this long.

Yeah im in the discord so i can tag dbd as my main game on my discord but heard announcement and tried to use today.

went to game discussion and someone posting silk song charms, and only thing that resembles a forum is grimoire feedback. I would of thought they would have somewhere set up for people to try to migrate over too, esspically since they made it seem they wanted discord to be the main one.

alot of the content on discord right now is just low effort chatting. (which is fine but its not a forum replacement)

I don't think they really want feedback. These other platforms allow for a constant stream of hollow chatter. It looks like activity even if it's just trash, but it sells as visible engagement. The feedback on the forum was generally negative or critical and I think they want less of that to be seen. I've thought for awhile that they aren't even really paying attention to the feedback here, especially after the bug reporting was moved.

  • Can't imagine why the forums lack activity with a warm and inviting atmosphere like that.

It’s pretty obvious why they want to move everyone over to Discord where you very accurately stated ideas appear and disappear like farts in the wind. It has been glaringly apparent for years that BHVR care very little about community input and they’re just going to do whatever TF they want to do. Now there will be no receipts. Blowing up the forum is a great way to make sure nobody remembers what the community have been asking for or what promises BHVR have made and never followed through on.

Now now, let's not be unfair. BHVR totally listens to its community. And by community I mean it's biggest CCs. It will be easier than ever to do so now. Whoever doesn't repeat their views just won't be heard. But don't worry, you can still be noticed. Just play this game for a living and get a million subs, and develop them into a cult-like following who will repeat what you say verbatim.

  • No. I may join the discord but I doubt I'll use it. Same with the Steam forum. I don't have any other social media accounts and won't make any either. They're not conducive to real discussions. It's just noise. But I guess noise is what we want now.

I defienetly lost to many really bad killers with meta perks either because some survivor was baby or because the perk stalled the crutial moment. But I rather see killers being happy from winning than them disconnecting because they have no tool to combat.

Why are killers entitled to happiness over survivors?

  • Steam is mostly just a certain subset of players and not everyone wants to be on Reddit or Discord. The forum is nice in that it isn't part of a larger machine but is it's own thing. Sad times.

So what would an ideally-balanced game look like to you so that both sides are having fun? Just very high level, like your ideal target kill/escape rates and restrictions on how killers are allowed to play?

The primary issue is that any small thing can make a match hopeles within seconds of it starting for survivors and then it looses all meaning. The simplest effort would have been to try something—like anything at all—from the anti-cheese ptb they'd already made and then adjust it accordingly. Right now I'd like them to make Elusive and Haste at least 20s off hook. That can't be abused if the Endurance stays 10. I don't think percentages are really that relevant because there are so many variables. Some people 8 hook and let everyone go. Some people go for fun chases and get themselves killed without a care. Some people, like me, obsess over numbers over gameplay. There's too many mindsets for those mass percentages to be important to me.

Though I have a more complicated idea, a different take on matchmaking/ranked mode.
I'd like to see them go back to something like the old emblem system (and tighten it up) but with different elements at different levels. So the bottom levels get 20s of full BT, the next is 15, then 10, then 5. Different anti-camp and slug as well, like slugs can stand up at a lower tier, like in 2v8. Adjusted gen speeds like 2v8 as well. Then you can kind of choose your sweat level. If iri tier is too sweaty you fall back to gold or whatever. Perks should be tiered as well, with stronger/weaker/additional effects at upper levels. Iri I could even be perkless. This way different levels would have thier own balance. It'd be a different game at each level but we are all already all playing a different game than one another, even just in the forum. Some have 100 hours, some have 10k. Some play comp, some goof off with friends. Some only care about half the game. Some are lying about their experiences to get what they want, which effects everyone if it happens. 2v8 already has the idea in place, they just need to be combined with regular mode in a way that pleases everyone, and a sliding scale of difficulty on a single mode makes the most sense to me.

And I don't want to see one single accommodation made for CCs. Hour long wait at iri 1? Cope. We have pwyw now too. Go play survivor. They need accurate queues for these people. I don't ever want to play against momo again as a mid-level player soloqing just to be another notch in his winsteak. Matchmaking won't fix it. A bigger change is needed.

”You are still failing to grasp why survivor is currently miserable, it has nothing to do with if you can win but how you must win in the current game”

Ok, well let’s focus on this then. You say it’s not an issue of how often you escape. What % of your matches do you think you escape? Let’s say you’re escaping at the average 40% of your matches. So in those matches where you’re escaping, you’re still miserable - why? If it’s tunneling/camping or some other objectionable killer strategy that you feel is the problem, but you’re still escaping, then I don’t understand what the issue is. Why does it matter how the killer plays if you still get out?

Why does it matter how the killer plays if you still get out?

I also want to address this sentence. I have a 30-day ER of 70%. My current 2v8 ER is also 70%. Both of those are out of 100+ matches. I don't abandon so those are completely real numbers. Does this mean I'm happy? No. Because a ton of that is getting hatch in hopeless games. It's not fun creeping about waiting for hatch in a garbage match, it's fun running out the gates after a save. There are so many ways for a survivor match to get that way too. It could be a tunneling killer, it could be bad teammates, but it feels bad either way. I don't regularly feel that way on killer because I always retain a certain level of control, and I can always make a comeback, but I feel that way constantly as survivor. The only comeback is hatch and that's still a team loss.

We could be in this discussion forever but.. to make a counterpoint of your counterpoints:

    • We don't have old medkits self healing speeds but we have things that can be close or even better, like Resurgence, Do No Harm, We'll Make it is still strong, and the new Lend a Hand + Circle of Healing can lead to very fast heals too. Also, you can combo Botany + Medkit to heal yourself in normal speed or even use the skillcheck addons. Altruistics heals have never been faster
    • 90s gens but there is a plenty of toolboxes and gen rush perks available
    • As many many perk nerfs and almost every popular addon from newer killers nerfed
    • I agree, but they hard went from C tier to A+ tier - with exception of Billy. Most of the time killers go from very weak to average strength
    • Pallet density incresed the amount of pallets and many of them are still safe. TBH, this is one of the biggest issues the current killer experience have
    • Some maps still have very strong windows, like Crotus Pren Asylum
    • Alright. But aura perks
    • But they got many other strong or at least good perks like Finesse, Champion of Light, Five Moves Ahead, Cross Examination, Do No Harm,
    • Killers who had been nerfed - like Krasue and Henry - or had their best addons nerfed - like Jason.
    • Smaller maps with pallet density

I'm not saying "killer is impossible". Killer is better now than it was years ago, this is a fact. I'm just saying that the affirmation that killers can easily win most of their matches is more due to bad MMR than due to the state of balance. I've been playing a lot of SoloQ recently and i've seen survivors throwing matches in the most diverse aspects, going for save when they shouldn't, greeding a gen in front of a instadown killer, refusing to heal against an Oni or a Wraith, etc etc. And when i'm with friends, i don't feel at any disadvantage - or at least i know with who to complain with LOL.

I've been playing a lot of SoloQ recently and i've seen survivors throwing matches in the most diverse aspects, going for save when they shouldn't, greeding a gen in front of a instadown killer, refusing to heal against an Oni or a Wraith, etc etc

See, this is a thing I don't get. Survivors are often blamed for being bad, but why aren't killers? Why can't it be "you lost because you're bad" instead of "poor baby you lost because of those pallets, and their perks, and main, and the comms, and stealth, and gen rushing, and your weak killer, and the techs, and and and". This always seems to be the way. Survivors lose = get good; killers lose = nerf survivor. Even now there are killers in this forum asking for more nerfs.

Also, Henry's nerfs were minor. Like many A tiers, he went from A to A with nerfs. Krasue was just a bad design and doesn't belong as the same sentence as Henry.

That's what I said, so I feel like you are talking about me.
I will not agree that survivior is easier role, because you must consider a lot of things - strong killer roster (every new killer is strong in my opinion, you might get teammates out of your skill level, people do give up or DC etc.

I am from Europe, which is considered "the sweatiest" region.

In all those games "escaped icons" are the disconnects.
Only one person escaped me through the gate - Lara on the game.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/O0DDC8FGDXUM/image.png

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/8AW8J1JYZVQN/image.png

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/S5XEENONG615/image.png

As you can see - I do not even play S/A tier killers.

Those are my past 30 day games.

Some decent scores on the survivor side too. Only one under 10k. So you're not leaning hard into immediate tunneling and you're winning all your matches with what's considered one of the weakest killers, something people love to say is impossible. How very interesting.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4119057#Comment_4119057

To your first point I agree, they didnt' have to nuke the perks just like in 6.1.0 they didn't need to nerf perks. BHVR typically balances solely based on useage so anything at the top is suspect to getting nerfed (before you come for me, yes killer popular perks should be nerfed too if they're torching survivor popular perks). And yes I agree we haven't had a dash slop killer in awhile but that's exactly the issue. Unless its a dash killer BHVR will pretty regularly either under hit the mark(singu pre-emp nerfs, houndmaster, alien, springtrap) or extremely over-build killers(First, Judgement, Jason, Ghoul). The dash killers they can kind of get correct, but anything else is either trash or broken strong, and being real "broken strong" sells more than "its a weak M1 meh killer that gets trounced"

Usage shouldn't matter, performance should, and I highly doubt WoO was overperforming. If usage mattered the last thing to happen to Pop and Ruin wouldn't have been buffs, and Pain Res would have gotten another nerf. In the last batch of numbers they showed us iirc it was the number one killer perk in all regions.

I think Springtrap is actually perfect, and he remains popular. He's got mutiple abilities and is fun to play against. And no dash. They kind of nailed it there. Houndmaster is just a buggy mess. There's potential otherwise.

But look at the trend in your list. The busted killers are pay only, the others are shards. The problem is money, and the question is can BHVR get enough money from a majority killer base who have to wait in an increasingly long line if no one wants to play survivor? The amount of 50/50s I know leaning killer now—myself included—does not bode well for the future. There has to be an incentive to play the role. I currently have nothing on the horizon making me want to do so.

Losing as killer casues saddness and that's why killer talk about killer anxiety so much. That they just try to win but survivor are toxic, rush gens, bring sabo builds, flashlights and unhealthy perks such as dead hard, decisive strike or lithe.

Unlike surviviors, who are really excited when they lose. That's why the killer queues are so long. Because survivors love queuing up to lose so much! And they definitely never feel like they lost to perks and not players, and they certainly don't encounter toxic killers. Yes, killers should win every single match because they're sad if they don't.

But killers face comp swf teams so they need these buffs to balance around beating them. Even if those teams are 1% of the playerbase and it screw over casual survivor players.

Yeah but you know some of these killers face them every single match, or so they say. Those players' KRs always seem really high though. But hey, they might lose one in twenty matches and that's just not acceptable.

  • @Rickprado said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4119263#Comment_4119263

Easier was a way to say it, but people have been calling "easy", usually "so easy that its boring". Many here say this.

Yeah but we need to remember that now killers have to deal with Basekit Endurance - now with elusive -, anti-camp system, a strong meta - even after nerfs, specially in healing and gen speed -, no more hook grabs, 8 gen kick limit, nerf in perks like Pain Ressonance, Pop, Ruin, Dead Man Switch, Eruption, Call of Brine, etc. Also, some cheese builds got destroyed, like old Spirit with her addons, Starstruck Nurse, Forever Freddy, etc etc

Survivor got a lot better and know how to use their resources much more than years ago. Even a common lobby have at least one good looper - and we need to remember that when both sides are experienced, things tend to be stronger on the survivor side.

People tend to exaggerate on how "easier" killer is just because they don't have to deal with OG Decisive and OG Dead Hard but survivor got a lot of buffs, QoL and new perks in the recent years.

Sure, both sides gets things and loose things. But there's a reason SB and WoO were still top 10 most used perks. Same with nerfed DS and DH. The better survivor perks came out years ago. Little has changed. StB the burden was probably the last big meta perk. I guess 5MA but that's just WoO 2.0. And both of those are set for nerfs. Basekit Endurance just got nerfed and is easy for many killers to eat right through. Same with DS. The moment I recover from a DS stun, the user is down again. That's because I play a modern strong killer. The big difference with killer and survivor is that strong killers keep coming out while the survivor meta stays mostly the same, even with nerfs. I don't think killer is easy. I was fighting for my life before the MMR rework but it is "easier than ever" to win more than you lose if you play nearly any killer released in the last couple years with meta perks.

and we need to remember that when both sides are experienced, things tend to be stronger on the survivor side.

I don't really believe this unless all four of the players are exceptional. In that case, yes, four exceptional people working together should win most of the time. But it seems like survivor is still called strong no matter how many nerfs they receive. Even now with nerf after nerf after nerf you're saying it. When does this stop being repeated? When survivors are perkless? When there are three pallets on the map? When every map is Fallen Refuge?

  • @ShanoaLegendaryPlz said:

I believe the game stopped being casual as soon as they brought in Kaneki. After him its like the bar was raised for minimum killer strength and everything thats casual in the game is now severely power crept by whatever comes out. If they were to come out with a new m1 killer, say terrifier, all the streamer community would put him on a strength tierlist the second they see how his power works and if its not strong enough the whole community is told hes weak and easy to counter - which would diminish sales. So bhvr is now kinda dorced to make every new killer A tier or above to start and adjust based on complaints.

And there was atleast 1 map where windows of opportunity was a big problem especially on all 4 survivors, which was the saw map - the game. It is nicknamed "the pallet factory" and pallets are all in such close proximity that someone with windows of opportunity could predrop pallets for over 20 minutes. Otherwise on other maps it wasnt often noticeable

I feel the same way about Ghoul. That was the turning point. I think he was the worst decision they've made and there's likely no going back.

This a common trend here. People have been saying that "killer is easier than ever" but as far as i know, people who plays killer regularly aren't having an easy time against decent survivors, specially if they are playing lower tier killers. I wonder if this is something related to regions, time of the day or whatever it might be.

"Easier than ever" doesn't mean just plain easy. There's no more gen tapping, no more infinites, no more insta completing BNPs, anti-tunnel keeps getting nerfs, and every new killer that drops is powerful, which is a big part of it. Add in the recent nerfs to survivor meta and the ones on the horizon and it is indeed easier than ever—and about to get easier.

but no offense y would i want to do that if id eventually end up like evryone here?

Hahahahaha so true. We are all miserable. I was my happiest when I wasn't inolved with the community and just played the game and had fun. I don't have fun anymore. I just watch my numbers change and stress over them.

  • There have been efforts but this community resists change, and the loudest CCs with the most followers usually dominate the conversation.

oh like how people cheat thru college using AI and then once they graduate they cant do anything? like you use a tool and then get in too deep and then cant do anything without it?

i dont really like surv. i dont think ill play it at all

    Much like that, yes.

I get that. I didn't play survivor at all when I first started. I don't think I touched it for at least 500 hours. But I eventually realized there was a whole half of the game that my perspective lacked. And even if you prefer one over the other playing both gives you invaluable information in both gamplay and feelings, because emotions are high in this community.

Touching on a few of the other things that have come up, this game's players love their team mindset. It's a lot like warring political parties. Both like to paint the other side as the villain and themsleves as the victim. Like Ferrous said, negativity bias—big time. The end game chat is a problem for a lot of people. Many change the way they play based on a small percentage of unpleasant people. Some develop a burning hatred for the role they dislike. This game is a decade old. It has its own culture and a lot of baggage. It also tends to make people really angry. It's hard to break down in a simple way why people care so much about someone tbagging them or whatever, but the tilt amongst these players goes off the charts.

i just dont like to lose. not sure anyone does. why should i not try to win more?

I'm not saying don't try to win, but if you start using cheesy strategies to win against inexperienced survivors you will very, very quickly find yourself going against people with thousands of hours and more skill than you and you will struggle. Matchmaking brackets shift very fast when people win every match. If you use the most detested (but efficient) tactics you won't learn how to play at a normal pace and you'll find yourself crutching on the same cheese constantly because you never learned a more skillful and macro way to play. The best advice I can give is not to worry about your stats and concentrate on learning how to be a skilled killer player that can master their powers and pressure the whole map.

And don't fall into this killer vs survivor tribalism stuff. A lot of people seem to want this playerbase divided in half and fighting. It's on display everywhere and sadly even people who've only been playing for a brief period fall into it. There are pain points on both sides. Play a lot of both and you'll see a clearer picture.

  • In regards to toxicity, take it from someone who loves trash talking—the person on the other side of the screen forgets about you immediately and they never truly cared to begin with. People act out to get under your skin in the heat of a moment. They don't care or think about how bad or good you are. They won't even remember the match tomorrow. Control your own views and forget theirs. Focus on the absurdity of people saying insane things or how comical BMing looks. None of it is real or serious. The only thing worth remembering is the non-toxic people and the good encounters. I've had many considerate killers and cute survivors, and I try to be the same. I've had nice exchanges in chat too. Plenty of well-meaning people are out there. They aren't all toxic.

As for the winning and losing aspect, that's a personal hurdle people have to face. At the end of the day it's just a game and it has no weight in your life at all. No one in the whole world cares how good or bad you are at this video game.

  • Plague in C and Henry, Oni, and Jason in B? This is certainly a take.

I will say playing killer is less stress inducing than survivor, the one thing that slightly annoys me as a new dbd killer is the amount of try hard survivors there are, I went against a whole lobby of prestige 100's that had good perks and add ons but it wasn't really fair since I was only a level 5 killer with no perks or add ons, Its barley been 24 hours but that's what I've gotten so far as playing killer. I also never spent money on this game because I don't want to turn into a pay to win player

24 hours isn't gonna tell you much. Give it at least a couple hundred and see how you feel. Things change a lot as you move through MMR brackets and meet a lot of different playstyles. This community generally considers anyone under 1k hours to be a baby still. You'll find your opinion will continuously shift if you keep playing, especially if you stick with both roles.

i thought the avg was 60% for killr?

is 77% really not that good? man i thought i was doing ok with 55%

55 is a comfortable place to be. It gives you more space to grow at your own pace, especially if you don't have thousands of hours yet. Skyrocketing your KR comes back to bite people, trust me. I've felt those MMR shifts very distinctly when I've had numbers in the 80s. A lot of killer complaints likely stem from doing well against babies and then ending up in the big leagues too quickly.

One thing I've noticed is that the killer perk updates are rightfully based on killer feedback, such as helping M1s catch up to a degree with more recent map traversing killers. And I think that's great, it's what should be done. But then I look at the survivor perk updates and it doesn't feel like it's based on survivor feedback, but rather based on addressing killer pain points with regards to survivor gameplay. I don't see survivor voices in any of this. It feels like there is a whole missing subset of feedback. I'm frankly not surprised at the ridiculous queue times anymore. I'm not sure where the feedback to the devs is being filtered through but a lot seems to be getting left out.

1000 times this. The killer perks are good news for killers, the survivor perks are good news for killers. There's nothing much interesting or exciting on the survivor side, nothing at all addressing survivor pain points, but there are a bunch of nerfs.

    the goalpost shifts once more

    >So please do tell me the survivior equivalent of that.

    and

    >i would have said old vigil but now that's nerfed.

Do you know what basekit means? But even at its best, Vigil didn't turn off killer powers completely.

the survivor equivalent is bt but i decided to let you shift from your words to a different topic but old vigil cut killer powers and status effects by 66% that's strong and it stacked btw

    >The killer gets to pick their perks knowing what works best for that
killer; the survivors don't know the killer in advance. No one could
actually think this is an acceptable defense. If you really mean this
then you must be okay with survivors knowing who the killer is an
advance so they can pick their perks accordingly.

also why do you think the survivor meta is the way it is not including the gen rush perks

Ds Dh resilience lithe current five moves current windows (and other perks i'm forgetting)

because they are passive and are universal to 99% of killers which discourage interaction, waste time and give greatest benefit without large or any restriction besides being hooked

This was what I originally said:

a new survivor who has special basekit abilities that allow them to negate pretty much all killer powers and perks because the survivor players who have anxiety can't handle them.

    Basekit

    B A S E K I T

You're the one who can't even find the goalpost because you keep talking about perks. A perkless Judgment gets to shut down survivor perks and sabos with their BASEKIT abilities. This is a fact. 10s of Endurance doesn't negate most killer perks and powers for the length of a match, unlike Judgment's abilities. If you think 10s of [nerfed] Endurance is the same as being forced to be perkless all match and never even getting to attempt a blind or sabo then I actually don't know what to tell you.

What does you randomly bringing up the survivor meta have to do with anything?

The goalpost wasn't moved. I said:

special basekit abilities that allow them to negate pretty much all killer powers and perks

    Negate ALL.

    >

lets not move the goalpost these are your words

this exist in the form of endurance and judgement also has it when they teleport out of the exile

and now with the goalpost moved i shall address this

Judgement shuts down sabos and shuts down dozens of hook based perks. So
give me the survivor BASEKIT that allows me to keep a killer's whole
build offline, as well as their add-ons

the judgement also doesn't benefit from hook based perks and it's why you don't see them on her just like how healing perks are countered by plague this isn't new

    >So please do tell me the survivior equivalent of that.

i would have said old vigil but now that's nerfed. otr still gives 40 seconds on top of the 10 second base endurance it's not as cracked as 80 seconds it's still extremely strong it's just survivors have a plethora of options and won't use it

the judgement also doesn't benefit from hook based perks and it's why you don't see them on her just like how healing perks are countered by plague this isn't new

The killer gets to pick their perks knowing what works best for that killer; the survivors don't know the killer in advance. No one could actually think this is an acceptable defense. If you really mean this then you must be okay with survivors knowing who the killer is an advance so they can pick their perks accordingly.

i would have said old vigil but now that's nerfed.

Do you know what basekit means? But even at its best, Vigil didn't turn off killer powers completely.

Its because some people here dont care about winning on survivor and would never put in the hard work to sweat on it.

Of course you think survivor is fun if you run a meme build and laugh as you die at four gens.

Whats annoying is that some of the same people will constantly push the killer underdog narrative because thats the role they actually try on and constantly beg for nerfs and parrot CC opinions to the T.

It makes a lot of discussion pointless off the rip, especially if you try to voice any survivor related complaint at all. And totally why I find 'both sides' players here largely disingenuous.

Yeah I've seen quite a few of these people express that they don't care if they die on survivor and just want to have chill matches, whatever that means. I'm trying to win at both roles and if you aren't then we aren't talking about the same thing.

  • Self-Preservation does not need this nerf. I often use this perk to travel the map to a distant hook, especially if I'm the best candidate for an unhook. If left at 30s and now combined with the basekit Elusive, the two survivors can run away and leave no trace for a killer that returns to hook, and that seems to be the issue that's being cited. If cut to 15s its no longer good for that but will still be good for personal ratting and hiding from the killer. I don't see what the point of a time change is when it still has the exact same effect, at least in regards to the cited problem.

The basekit off-hook protections were only just changed. Why not see how the perk does with those change first, now that it's in a really good position to be a strategic, macro team perk.

  • @Stardust2634 said:

I'll get back to you in a month and tell you if I did change my tune or not

The Wolf Pounce is actually my main concern. I’m currently playing at 75 sensitivity, so I’m curious what sensitivity you use.

After putting that much time into Dracula, do you feel the Pounce mostly becomes comfortable through muscle memory, or do you still feel there are quick corrections / second-pounce situations where controller noticeably limits you?

I had that feeling with killers like Wesker and Houndmaster before, where I could use the power but never felt completely comfortable with the more precise corrections.

I’m mainly trying to figure out whether Dracula gets past that feeling with enough practice.

I would actually say the pounce feels worse than Wesker's dash since the second one is automatic. You have to correct much quicker. It also has the same problem of getting snagged on tiny debris. My sensitivity is on 70. If they ever make it so you can adjust per killer I'd probably go with 80 on Dracula. I think that level of precision you're looking for might come better at a high sensitivity for him.

I'd say he'd certainly feel better with a mouse but who doesn't? The camera control is night and day. But I'd also say he's totally viable.

also though, at the same time, when did trapper, ghostface, etc. get buffs when shoulder got released? You can't complain about survivors getting power crept by new killers but not also acknowledge that older killers get power crept by new survivor perks. It's absolutely a cycle on both sides so neither gets a "slam dunk" of I win.

You can't complain about survivors getting power crept by new killers but not also acknowledge that older killers get power crept by new survivor perks.

Perks are optional, and many of the perks being nerfed are old. M1 killers are as old as SB and WoO. But I don't see how the solution is to nerf strong perks like StB and a whole bunch of other perks, while buffing a bunch of perks that help M1s so that now survivors just get thrashed by even the lowest tier killers. There's nothing being done to make survivor better right now, just worse. They could have buffed those killer perks without nuking survivor.

I don't know how to address that though without basically turning every new killer into "dash slop but green instead of blue".

Tbf we haven't had a dash killer in a second, but we have had strong killers with overstuffed kits. Jason has power crept half the roster while having zero identity of his own. He's just a bunch of killers rolled into one. The Judgment issues are kinda easier. Perks that activate upon being hooked need to be changed to hook states if they're going to do something like this. They also need to have a small window for flashlight saves, like in 2v8. Getting the beam curve time is a different matter, but a killer that turns off a masive chunk of the survivior existence is just bad design.

  • @Carth said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4119023#Comment_4119023

Because if a survivor perk existed that was "You cannot be hooked, you can only be sent to the floozle realm, where when rescued, you spawn healthy instead of injured" would be ran as much as borrowed time back in the day and would eventually be begged to be base-kit just like BT was.

Oh, but I said basekit by default. Judgment gets her benefits that avoid all these regular aspects of the game for free. She doesn't need a perk to do it. The perk slots are for cheesing with aura. But you almost see the point. It's like all these things existing would be unfair to the other side.

Basekit BT was added because a perk was filling in a hole to make the game playable. Same reason infinites were removed. How on earth is this example still being cited in 2026?
