My opinion is not wrong and you have no point proved it to be. My opinion is not also hurting anyone unless they themselves take it as such. Wiser person would just ignore it and keep doing what they want but in the end that is not the case it seems.

There's a legal principle I forget the name of, but I do not need to prove your opinion wrong until you've attempted to prove it right.

So, okay then. Let's take a look under the hood here.

Without any more dodging, deflection or desperately trying to change the subject, why should cakes be rare?

This event has made me loose a lot of faith in Behavior, even more then I've already lost in the last few years.

What, you don't like instantly losing matches because it's a SWF that knows how to become basically invulnerable at all times or take you hostage in a corner of the map with an unbreakable pallet?

I'm not doing this out of spite or anything, its genuinely just that this A: Isn't a big deal imo and B: Most of the playerbase doesn't seem to care about cakes since were at an all time high player count. Also keep in mind: the less BP you have the less you have to grind and less grinding means less people playing which is bad for moneys

    Okay. Let's try this again.

    • People come back for the anniversary. The count in a week will tell a much more complete story.
    • Clearly it's a big deal for you to waste this much virtual ink on it. If it wasn't a big deal, you'd be a lot quieter.
    • …What? You can't buy BP for money.

I have said several times I have no problem of the ammount I get. I even get why it was changed. I am not here to get personal gain just stating my opinion of the matter. Yeah I call it greed as its literally demanding something because you think you are entitled to it. Don't take that last one personally but can't really say it any other way.

Still its not been consistent every year people complain about the cake spawns. Every year there is same conversation it does not matter what amount they make it people will complain.

    You didn't answer the question.

What do you have against raising them?

    @Yamalive said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4094287#Comment_4094287

Why should I do that? It has absolutely nothing to do with what was said.

And its still greed if you ask for free stuff to be more than enough.

This is a video game. More cakes hurts nobody. There is no reason not to put them back to where they were other than just being a jerk.

  • @pidgeon said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4094193#Comment_4094193

That's a low bar.. Either way 27 cakes per level isn't bad after 3-4 prestiges you get around 100 which is about 13-15 matches that's not that bad.

    You didn't answer my question.

People want them higher. They've historically been higher.

Aside from just…spite, what are you giving people grief for wanting them higher?

  • @pidgeon said:

Doesn't this happen every year? Either way its a big game so no matter what its gonna do dbd will always have bad reviews. I mean look at literally any popular live service game such as Overwatch it has 40% negative reviews yet it is still one of the most popular shooters.

    @Wezqu said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4094252#Comment_4094252

Yeah sorry man but thats how the complainers sound not the ones that don't agree with them. Some of them even literally like that.

I'm genuinely confused - you are in essentially every thread shouting down people annoyed about the cakes.

What does it hurt you for cakes to be more generous?

Is this just being contrarian, or actual malice?

    @Yamalive said:

Review bombing over something like cakes is such a childish behaviour and is just contradicting its initial use. And all the people still complaining after they increased the cake gain within a day are just greedy people who cant get enough. Its fine now, so you could stop claiming otherwise.

People are leaving their opinion of a game based on the things the developers are doing.

    Godforbid.

    @BlackRabies said:

Devs will never learn they take a small step forward up then fall down the stairs.

This event is just such a mess. Invisibility is just…why? And them giving cakes like a 15% buff reads more as a middle finger than anything else.

Again - just let us have cakes the way we used to!

  • @Angy_Quentin said:

I am being serious. He's way worse in chase, but due to the reworked main event mechanic he's great at area control and proxy camping.

Yes, that thing that they're actively working against and constantly add new features and map designs to prevent.

That's like saying a killer is good on Haddonfield. Potentially true, but also completely irrelevant.

  • Automated warning.

Nobody has ever, to my knowledge, been punished or banned for this unless it happens a LOT.

  • @Dipper said:

I am so annoyed when I get into a match and it's the same killer like 5 times in a row. As Killers cannot change their character in the lobby anyway, would be cool to select a killer you really don't want to face, so you don't get into the lobby where that killer is, for a match. Could be token based, when you face a killer, you earn a token for that killer. The last 5 killers get logged. If you have 3 tokens you can block that killer and join a lobby that doesn't have that killer.

I just had 4 slingers in a row and I am just completely demotivated but I also can't just DC the match. And every time that happens, facing the same killer over and over, I wonder why we can't "ban" certain killers for the next match.

If a killer joins afterwards, you could just block banned lobbies for them, so they only join a lobby where he isn't banned by either survivor. In the end that wouldn't even be visible to the players, they would just normally join lobbies as always

If you really got 4 Slinger in a row, go buy a lottery ticket today - you're clearly on some sort of hot streak.

    Or you're just being hyperbolic.

The issue is with is it would absolutely punish whoever the newer killer is, and would make strong killers nearly unplayable.

But sure, as long as I get the ability to temporarily block any lobby with specific survivor perks.

  • @TheVarietyKiller said:

I was playing some Trickster yesterday, and he just baffles me.

I have come to figure out the patterns in ranged killers. If the projectile does instant damage, the killer is 4.4. If the projectile infects or builds up to damage, the killer is 4.6.

But Trickster is a killer where the projectile builds up to damage, and he’s 4.4. I don’t understand why, it doesn’t make sense. And I don’t think there is any good reason he should stay 4.4.

Trickster is basically Skull Merchant or, I predict, Ghoul.

No matter how they're reworked, no matter how they're nerfed they have this weird reputation from years ago and so BHVR cannot make them anything close to strong or the forums will overflow with tears.

    @Angy_Quentin said:

The reason he is 4.4 is because the train never stops. He has no problem downing all four survivors in a blink of an eye if they group up. Most other ranged killers do not have that snowball potential.

…I'm not sure if you're being serious.

He's objectively weaker than his original state or his rework. His 'meter' is pathetic, main event is only really useful when you're preventing unhooks and they put him back to 4.4, despite him being a standard movement killer post rework and still being awful.

    20!
    WOW! That's SO MUCH better!
    Thank you guys!

To anyone wondering… yes, I'm being ironic.
6 more cakes and being able to bulk spend without losing cakes is still NOTHING.
5M BP for 100 cakes?! Pretty good job so far indeed.

EDIT: Did more tests here myself.
Bulk spending will still make you lose 1 to 4 of the supposed 20 cakes per prestigie.
And their placement is still scripted/rigged. Here are the new nodes:

    3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 15, 20, 25, 28, 30, 33, 35, 38, 40, 42, 45, 47, 49*, 50

49 has an "*" on it because it SOMETIMES spawn a cake.
Usually the stupid box comes in it's place and it NEVER gives a cake.

    They hear you.

    They don't care.

If they cared, they'd have actually buffed them.

What boggles my mind is people actually defending this.

  • @Angy_Quentin said:

I don't understand why BHVR changed that at all. They had no reason, the BP grind is already broken for players that are willing to farm thousands of cakes.

    You don't?

    It's spite. Nothing but spite.

They knew that a lot of people want to play during the anni to get cakes, they were irritated about getting dragged for something and so they did this.

If they'd wanted to buff this, they'd have given more than a 10% buff - this is little more than a calculated middle finger.

    Vote with your wallet.

People are genuinely complaining just to complain simply because "b-b-b-b-but its not 200 cakes per prestige how will I get my 3000 cakes like last year?" Its not like the game is losing any genuine players over this, its mainly just people who were already burnt out of the game and wanted an excuse to stop playing after 2000 hours.

Yeah. Godforbid people are annoyed at something that didn't need to be nerfed getting nerfed. Assemble the firing squad!

  • @MrPsych said:

Instant invisibility is by far the worst thing of this event. What exactly is a killer supposed to be doing when a survivor goes invisible and doesn't leave any scratch marks or blood behind? Also it's somehow the only effect my games ever get?!?

Also I swear there are way more pallets than usual. Even when survivors are poisoned, they can make it to a new pallet easily… while walking.

I thought nothing could beat the original Blood Moon event in terms of unfun, but this managed to pull it off. Congrats Black Banquet on being the worst of the worst.

Play survivor, save up enough BP to get a cake on killer. Use poison and hope it works right. Repeat.

Why killer ability needs cakes that they deliberately made 95% rarer while survivor abilities don't, I'd love to know why.

Well I think I know, but I won't say it here.

no one called them bigots. It is okay that they didn’t understand a lot of people do not. We only seek that they correct this error and remove the auric cell option of purchase. You do not understand the significance of the regalia and clearly have not even done a basic search about it.

You rather attack us a marginalized people for speaking out, maybe you are a bigot, since you’re so truly worried about being perceived as one.

    You absolutely have and will.

Remember the Unknown discourse? David discourse? Trickster discourse? Houndmaster? Krasue? Hell, I remember the whole 'Tapp is bad because he's a cop and therefore racist' discourse, because time is a flat circle.

Also…did you seriously just play the 'if you don't want to be called a bigot, you're a bigot' card?

Nobody is attacking you, unless you're saying that you've above criticism for being 'marginalized'. I'm pointing out that this sort of pettiness and wokescolding is the biggest own goal possible, and eventually you'll probably win - and lose.

  • @MashedBroccoli said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4093771#Comment_4093771

no goal posts are being moved.

The problem here is only with the regalia and as i’ve said it never should’ve had an auric cell option, they should’ve used one of his other non auric cell exclusive cosmetics to take its place.

They absolutely are and by your own logic, will never stop being moved.

The Hag is representative of certain African cultures. Ditto Plague, Artist, Oni, Spirit, HM etc. Remember the Krasue cultural appropriation discourse? The Trickster 'fetishization' discourse?

Seriously, come on. This isn't just petty, this is outright malicious. Because it happens every single time BHVR does something progressive. You're actively punishing them and yes, I'm using 'you' as a plural here, as a catch all for all of this nonsense.

  • @MashedBroccoli said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4093761#Comment_4093761

this isn’t wokescolding. Our regalia is not for sale, sell other cosmetics but regalia should never ever be sold for profit and you trying to call this wokescolding is incredibly tonedeaf and disgusting.

This is somehow both wokescolding and tone policing. I'm honestly kind of impressed, and well on my way to a Bingo.

If you want BHVR to just stay in their lane, be as passively progressive as possible and never take a chance on representing anything cultural because they'll be bombarded with petty nitpicks and painted as bigots again - keep right on at it.

thank you for speaking alongside with me as a fellow native. some of the community understands which i'm grateful for, but most do not, which i can also somewhat understand.

it just feels alienating to be told that i'm fighting against progressivism, being likened to twitter folk, and that i'm tearing bhvr down, not considering people need to get paid for rent when i understand these things but deep down it really doesn't feel right for them to profit off of us this way. it isn't even clear if bhvr intends on sharing these profits for a good cause which worries me. it really should've been something other than regalia. i think they could've been better off designing clothing from the ground up with input or referencing more casual wears (as they already have with some of the stuff they already made, which i like)

this same rhetoric is said to me when i see symbols being misused or people selling war bonnets/roaches as accessories for parties without understanding what it does, what it means, etc.

all of us on mother earth deserve equal representation, but there's ways to do it without taking away from communities. "it's just a skin" to some, but the philosophy behind it matters more in the grand scheme of things because it influences how stuff like this is handled later on.

    • You're not fighting against progress. You're actively discouraging anyone from even trying, because the goalposts will always shift.
    • Twitter does not exist anymore, but yes - this is the exact sort of mouse/cookie problem that I'm describing.
    • You are doing literally all of the rest.
    • Did you just compare me pointing out that you're impossible to please with actual, IRL profiteering?

If all of us deserve equal representation, then all of us deserve to have our best efforts treated with charity and not spat on because 'well you're still capitalists'.

Again, we're living in the worst timeline and, frankly, stuff like this is why. Progressive communities operating on Highlander rules.

  • @MashedBroccoli said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4093749#Comment_4093749

think of the corporations people! Screw that some things should not be used for profit post.

Seriously the regalia should’ve been an iri shard only cosmetic with no auric cell option. Other cosmetics that were release could’ve and should’ve been used in its place.

    Companies are people.

BHVR need to make a profit to keep this game up. And demanding that anything of any sort of cultural significance to anyone not be sold is unreasonable and patently ridiculous. All you're doing is moving the goalposts and berating a company who is doing just about anything right - and eventually, they're going to stop trying.

And then you'll complain about that instead.

This is why we can't have nice things.

  • @MorelClaudette said:

On which map can you be held hostage?

I doubt it as long as I have not seen it - but am really curious. Screenshots would be cool.

Anywhere there's a dead end blocked by a pallet. And that's only one way, no I'm not going to spread either method.

The really annoying thing is that the killer ability requires cake (which has had its occurrence rate reduced by 90%). It costs maybe 150-200k to get a cake to spawn. So you either have to play without a cake and just get dominated, as survivor abilities don't require one or play survivor to earn enough BP to get one on killer.

No, this will not be changed any time soon whatever BHVR say - and if you want proof, how's that Skull Merchant rework going?

    @Senaxu said:

I honestly agree that this event feels very survivor-sided.

The portal/invisibility/invulnerability combinations are extremely strong, and on some maps it can feel miserable to play killer into it. But at the same time, I can understand why they went this direction this year. Jason just released, killer interest is already very high, and if the event was also heavily killer-sided again, the queues would probably be awful.

Last year the event felt much better for killer, so I just played a lot of killer and enjoyed it. This year I would honestly do the opposite: if killer feels miserable, just play survivor and farm the event while it lasts. The BP is good, the tools are strong, and it is also a good time to learn matchups like Jason from the survivor side.

I don’t think killers should torture themselves through an event that clearly gives survivors this much value. Sometimes it is better to just play the side the event favors and move on.

'A thing was bad last year, so let's make it even worse this year only going in the other direction'.

Yes, that's a perfectly fine and not at all vindictive way to want your game balanced.

outside of natives, i'm also concerned about how they're going to treat other cultures moving forward. i might edit my OP to reflect that deeper. but it is very late and this was on my mind in the sense that i really wanted to get it off my chest. i might rewrite the post entirely bc it doesn't entirely capture my thought process

i'm all for companies and businesses shedding light on cultures, as everyone deserves an opportunity to learn and be seen. but i'm scared about this becoming a repeated thing where BHVR commits to collecting money off of the backs of marginalized communities and doing nothing for them other than "you get exposure".

holding their feet to the fire helps set an example on giving communities the respect they deserve while being represented. i don't want them to be scared of representing, but they should do it ethically.

Outside of literally disbanding their company or giving everything away for free, what exactly could they be doing better?

BHVR are probably THE most progressive company out there. I hate it that all they get is wokescolding and I'm honestly surprised at times that they bother trying.

  • @Skittlesthehusky said:

i think as part of the general family of people, i do still reserve the right to at least share criticism and my viewpoint as feedback. my opinion is not the end-all-be-all and is not meant to be, hence why a post like this is up for debate to begin with.

now that i am aware that ojibwe consultants were involved, i do find it comforting that it went through their hands before they gave bhvr the okay. but my stance on that is: sure while the few that have reviewed it gave it the green light, will that land the same way with everyone else?

this isn't to say that bhvr needs to consult every tribe and nation, but i'm just hoping this is something that they've at least considered.

again, since i have been told that this is temporary and is the regular pattern for original survivors, i am not as upset about it as i was last night. i feel way better knowing that bhvr was considerate enough to consult a people for this sort of thing. i was mainly concerned about it being for-profit the entire time and how uncomfortable it was seeing this for the first time.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4093652#Comment_4093652

i see your viewpoint and i can agree on this. however i will always have mixed feelings and skepticism due to the nature of selfishness that comes with this representation from a for-profit organization. businesses are there to make money, and in a day where there's a lot of performative and dishonest behavior, it gets difficult to tell when something is genuine or not. it gets even more scary when it comes to something that's close to you. a company can easily sell you the idea of being progressive, but do they truly mean it?

i would assume so given bhvr's focus on different types of communities, but knowing that it always has the added benefit of being a marketing tactic disconcerts me. maybe i'll grow to be more accepting of it over time, but right now... i don't know.

    Oh joy.

If we're really going to play the 'anything a corporation does = bad because capitalism = bad' game, then I don't think we will ever find a productive common ground.

You're essentially wokescolding a company despite them doing literally everything right because…capitalism.

    I hate this timeline.

I wouldn't go that far. Two perks on a recent killer still work fine. But yes, killer meta changes because 'oh this addon/perk was used too much so we're nerfing it'.

Survivor meta changes because Vigil gets reworked into something that hardcounters half the roster.

and no survivors get useless perks too… like all of rick grimes, most of the stranger things ones too are just okay too.

You're just mad coz you're probably getting beat and looking for excuses.

You need to play both sides lmao

I play both sides. I've been playing since…whoever was before PH.

Nothing in recent memory, not since the original Ruin or MFT approaches Vigil+SB.

    Nothing.

  • When it works, and they don't just run through it without getting poisoned. And doesn't randomly fall off.

And - oh yes - it basically requires a cake. You know, the thing they nerfed the droprate of by 90% and will not be changing until the event is almost over?

Survivors don't need cakes because tables are anywhere.

You act like they're going to change anything regardless, or do it in anything until event is nearly done.

    Know how I can tell?

Precedent. It wasn't until quite recently that survivors had spots where they could go down and never be picked up (but still healable). These were in the game since pretty much launch and some of them were only fixed when they removed or reworked that map.

Again - they. Do. Not. Care.

  • @cammoking123 said:

Killers get one really strong ability. Survivors get a bunch of mediocre abilities. And that's where all the complaining comes from. People who swear survivors are gonna stop at a cake mid-chase for three seconds of endurance.

Survivors can become literally unkillable, or trap the killer for ever. Or instantly drop chase and go invisible, and this can be spammed. The only way to prevent it is a killer ability, on a crazy long cooldown, that requires a cake (reduced to almost never appear - survivor abilities don't!). Oh, and there are no ways to get these charges back faster, and the ability just fails to work or falls off maybe 30% of the time.

You can also use a trick, as a SWF, to get permanent health state regen so you can hold the match hostage another way.

A better question is why are you defending it, I'm just calling out people who are somehow happy with long killer queue times and need to win most of their games.

Like literally, you're putting a stick into the bike wheel then complaining, I also don't defend the unbreakable pallets, thats the one modifier that is like yikes.

    Go have some fun lmao

Have you played this event as a killer?

How am I supposed to have fun when survivors can instantly drop chases, use multiple methods to trap me in a match for 40 minutes and my ability doesn't work properly?

Again, why are you defending the lack of cakes, the bugs or killers getting trapped forever?

Oh yeah - killer ability requires cakes.

    Survivor ability doesn't.

Cakes drop maybe every 5-10 bloodwebs now. Explain to me, as precisely as you can, why you are defending this?

    they only serve one table…

    Except they don't

If anything BHVR need to do something about how delusional the "Killer main" community is becoming.

Bro. Does that table represent event queue or general queue?

    I play both roles.

This event - there are at least two ways for survivor teams to take the match hostage.

Not just win, actually trap the killer or become invulnerable.

Killer poison should be a counter, but either there's a tech to avoid it or it's just buggy

If they'd wanted to, they could have made this reasonable - but no, they wanted a ridiculously survivor sided event and they got one.

Add to this, they made cakes 90% rarer than previous, I'm getting one every 5 webs or so if I'm lucky.

    Why are you defending this?

  • @Your_Dad_Playing_DbD said:

The event really shows how BHVR has taken its player base for granted. Everything about seems like “here you go, take it or leave it” rather than a heartfelt “thank you” to the dedicated players that have supported the game and made it uniquely successful. It’s a long-standing theme of BHVR takings its customers for granted because there is no competition and the they know their customers will play the game no matter what.

This isn't taking for granted. This feels, at best, like actual deliberate spite. There is no way they didn't know what they were doing, and how absolutely horrible it'd be to play into. Killer poison just randomly not working, and you running out.

    Survivors on the other hand…

I just got out of my third match today where a SWF used a trick to become almost invincible and take the match hostage, or trap me in part of the map. And that's not even the worst of the buffs.

Them deliberately making cakes 90% rarer than previous events and going out of their way to hurt killer players is just…are they worried about the rising cost of server maintenance? Because this feels designed to make half your playerbase quit.

And no, this will not be fixed and if they make any changes, it'll be in mid July, after the event is almost done.

  • Dude, they don't care.

    They. Do. Not. Care.

I've had to fight for every hook, playing as mean as possible, because you can literally become invincible in a SWF if you know what to do, or take the match hostage.

If they'd cared, this wouldn't have gone live. Plus, the cakes show just how little they care.

Stupid, buggy, unfun event that seems to have been put in to make killers quit.

  • @rurisometimes said:

This anniversary just had nothing for me. No good cosmetics, Cakes are scarce, the game mode lacks any interesting implementations for the killer role, and while it's certainly unique it's clear the focus was on casual survivors, as almost every aspect of it discourages chase (the part of the game I, and many others actually enjoy).

Its the exact same problem as 2v8, where I feel completely alienated and forced to stop playing the game for a few weeks, or atleast until normal queue modes go back to normal.

if I could give any advice to BHVR, stop trying to give either role easy ways to prolong/end chase. All it leads to is boring chases that feel unnecessarily long or kills that feel undeserved.

The survivor powers are stupidly broken. I'm having to be insanely mean just to stand a chance, and that's when I'm not being trapped forever with unbreakable pallets or having SWFs basically take the game hostage by becoming almost invulnerable.

The cakes are just…this feels less like an oversight and more like actual spite. Even if they change it today, people have already spent that 10m BP.

And they won't. It'll be a small buff to this near the end of the event, for P100 characters or something.

while i obviously don't speak for all natives as we all have different views [i am not affiliated with the anishinaabek peoples, i am mississippi choctaw by descent (halito!)] i don't think shane's regalia should be locked behind auric cells. for one, regalia is a deeply personal and involved collection of, essentially, someone's life that they wear at powwows or other ceremonies. it feels wrong to me that something like this is not being offered, at minimum, as both auric and shards. profiting entirely off of this portion of our culture with it being as significant as it is feels like bhvr is saying "pay me to have this personal part of yourself represented" and it feels really scummy. especially as a canadian company.

i'm happy that shane wiigwaas is in the game, i really am. i love that our culture is being seen more. i also understand that he's an original character, but i think something that can be sensitive like this demands way more respect and care. i didn't expect regalia to be referenced in this game and i'm excited that it is, but given bhvr's history of not really being too respectful to cultures from the get-go (e.g, the launch of trickster's delusion and the misuse of korean [and unfortunately japanese] culture/language quite recently), this is really concerning for how future cultural representation is going to be used and how bhvr may monetize off of what means a lot to us natives, and eventually other cultures as well.

idk if this was the result of consulting with other natives and what they had to say, but please reconsider this decision and make these cosmetics accessible to all. you are already selling someone that is a representation of a people and are making money off of it. at least donate some of the proceeds you gained from sales to reserves, particularly the peoples you're referencing the most.

edit: i walk it back. it feels wrong that this is being profited off of in general. such a symbol should not be profited off of period.

edit 2: updated the title for more clarity. better elaboration of my point in replies below.

I get it, I really do. But it does bother me that the more a company like BHVR tries to be representative and diverse that they are punished for it, every single time, because progressive thinking is inconsistent and no matter what you do, someone finds it offensive and drops by to poop down your chimney about it.

I remember them getting flak for making David gay because 'femme erasure' and 'of course he's a white guy'.

I remember them getting flak for Trickster's Valentine's outfit because 'fetishization' or Krasue because 'cultural appropriation'.

Maybe, just maybe, we approach matters like this with an iota of charity? Because otherwise all you're encouraging is companies to stay in their lane and never attempt anything like this - and that's how you get boring fiction.

EDIT: Oh wonderful, I just clicked that we're doing the 'a company doing everything right and giving minority groups everything they could realistically want isn't enough, because they're a company and capitalism is bad' discussion.

This isn't going to end well.

I spend like 10 Million bp yesterday and just got a laughable amount of cakes. I noticed the last months in general how rare good BP-Offerings are to appear in the bloodweb and i really wanted to ask for a big cutdown on offerings (for killers and survivors) and add ons (for survivors). Why do we need brown BP-Offerings giving bonus bp in a specific category??? Its so damn useless and just a waste of bloodpoints. I would love BP-Offerings getting reduced to: Brown/Green/Blue: 25%/50%/100% Bonus for all Players. Dont know why there are "egoistic" Bloodpoint Offerings in General.

And if its not what you wanna do, at least let Survivors share every item and offering and all killers every offering. There is no reason to seperate them onto every single character after 10 years. Would be a nice qol update in my opinion.

They wanted to slow down BP gain a bit I suppose, but this was not the way to do it. I leveled a killer from 0 to I think P4 and I got 24 cakes in total.

    That's absolutely miserable.

The saddest part? Everyone has already spent their 10m. So even if they revert this stupid, spiteful change today - it's too late.

And they won't, it'll be like…second week of July or so before this even gets a look and they make it appear 10% more in survivor blood webs. At P100.

  • @MeduSnake said:

You messed up the Event big time for Killers. Survivors get multiple different cool effects like free heals, teleporting, getting invincible, more pallets, speed boost and invisibility. Meanwhile Killers get one poisen that does nothing but give Survivors a Stamina bar for a few seconds or play babysitter for the food tables hoping to poisen them at the right time.

Since we all know you guys will not change anything until the event is over but to "look into things" the least you guys could do is give the Killer role a 3x Bloodpoint multiplier for the rest of the Event to give at least 1 reason to play the worst Event in Dbd History.

Oh and killswitch Jason until the Event is over, thanks.

It's not the worst event, but it's definitely the most outright malicious.

Thus far, I've had SWFs go almost invulnerable, denying me a single hook (there's a thread on this already), been taken hostage for an extended period via a pallet trap and am having to play my absolute best killers in the meanest way possible to do anything this event (so less BP all round).

Add to this they fact that cakes are maybe every 10 webs, if I'm lucky and the BP rewards for the event overall are meh, it's just…I hope whoever was in charge of this is unemployed tomorrow, with the worst reference possible.

  • Last year's event was maybe a tiny bit killer sided - I'd maintain both sides had cool things.

This year? Killers get a janky, buggy poison that often just doesn't apply.

Survivors can do tricks to basically take matches hostage by perma trapping killer in a dead end, become almost unkillable via frequent health state restores and absolutely brutalize gens.

Add to this the deliberately low rarity on event items (seriously, even if they fixed this TODAY - they won't, it'll be weeks - and people already spent that 10m), low BP rewards and insanely bad cosmetics and I hope that either someone loses their job today or that we just skip the anniversary next year.

Because this doesn't just feel like a developmental mistake. This feels deliberate and almost spiteful.

  • @Angy_Quentin said:

We are eating good this year. My quanton gets a banqet and my demodoggo gets a bunch of heads.

Nobody is eating good this year - BP rewards are deliberately minor, cakes are deliberately rare and even if they fixed this tomorrow (they won't, it'll be in like mid July), everyone already spent that big BP reward.

On top of this, the poison feels glitchy and often like it just doesn't hit right while survivor abilities are absolutely ridiculous - I've had one SWF basically go invulnerable during a chase via frequent health states and…something with medkits maybe? I've also been trapped for extended periods of times by survivors making pallets go invulnerable on maps with no way out of rooms unless you break a pallet - and they can use this to semi take you hostage.

    Who designed this?

That said, thanks for this OP, I was a little confused by the way poison worked.

  • @Drunkenmunky said:

Assumption: 4 morsels = everyone gains a health state.
So, one survivor just mans the table and fills it the instant one survivor takes damage.
Broken af but.. testing needed to confirm.
    If true, this just… sigh

It's true, just had a 3 man do it to me. Almost unkillable, if there's a table anywhere useful. You can also pretty much be taken hostage as a killer on the right map, via unbreakable pallet traps. Add this to the cake rarity and the fact that people already spent their BP before realizing how spiteful BHVR were being when they did this (no, it's 100% deliberate), this event has already done more damage to the game than probably anything else.

It's just…who thought this was a good idea? Let's take a fun community event, completely shaft one side, make the event offerings deliberately rare as hell and make the BP rewards pathetic.

  • @wesker_shades said:

About a week ago, I saw a leaked screenshot of the event cakes, where they were made Very Rare (purple) rarity instead of the usual common (brown) rarity. I thought to myself that this is going to piss off people a lot, and boy I was right.
Who made this decision in the first place? Did you not learn from last year, when you tried the same thing (or rather it was worse, since the cakes were wrongly marked as "Visceral"), and people absolutely flayed you for it. Fortunately, you listened then, and corrected the mistake.
We players are pretty tolerant about a lot of things, but OUR reward for spending countless of hours in the game should not be tampered with. Especially not when it comes to the 10th anniversary !!

So for the love of god BHVR, fix the cakes, and make them COMMON offerings again. Priced at 2000 BP.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/9P8Y3L9L8K23/torte.png

    This is wrong!

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/6DO7KPPZY0AC/terrormisu.png

    This is correct

The biggest problem - even if they fix this, BIG if, we've already spent the 10m, the BP rewards for the event are laughable and they never fix stuff promptly (I'd guess mid July, or a few days before the event ends) so we'll only have a few days to get cakes.

  • They've said they're looking into it, but with everyone's BP already spent it'll be like…mid July when they change this

  • @MeduSnake said:

Idk much about programming but you can't tell me they need this long to change the rarity and drop rate of a offering with a hotfix.

If they were going to change this, they'd have already changed it and refunded people's BP.

They'll buff the spawn rates slightly in mid July and call it a day.

i dont even like Otz if im being honest sure his tips and tricks videos are useful. i find him quite boring to watch

Not the issue, I'm pointing out that Aven is known to be the exact sort of wildly toxic, hatespeech endorsing, accusation making SWF player I'm referring to. This isn't intended as an insult, merely to contextualize how defensive he's being here.

Otz is one of the most wholesome streamers around, like him or hate him. Man does nothing but good. Aven's friend said some racial stuff about him and Aven was laughing along. They dropped racial stuff in postgame with me too. I'm just going to mute him and get back to the actual discussion. Cannot stand people like that.

You know, I had a response typed up but it was kind of mean, so I'll just say - I remember you and your buddy from a game not too long ago.

It is not a good memory and you're the exact sort of survivor I'm describing - well, more your buddy who…I'd suggest counselling.

Without too many details, I know why you're against this suggestion, you know why you're against this suggestion and not everyone you face is a cheater or an 'exploiter'.

Oh, if we played, I would love to know this. I actually like seeing people from the Forums. But I usually dont really say much after a game. And I am also not really responsible what others might say after a game. But since you use the word "exploiter" I know exactly which game you might be referring too, but you also said that I did not use it and that it is a few years ago.

But yeah, I would overall not consider myself as a really good player. I would say I am efficient, but thats about it. But you wont see me complaining about stuff and especially not blaming other things (like SWFs) too often.

Didn't you call Otz a cheater, live on stream?

I mean, first of all… Why would that matter? Like, seriously, what would be your point? I called your favourite Streamer a Cheater? And that LIVE ON STREAM?! All my arguments ever on this Forum would be invalid!

But no, this never happened. What happened however was that Otz called me a Cheater, live on stream. "######### this guy" was also included. (I was obviously not cheating, it was some form of Bug which made it impossible for him to mori me with Rancor. And I only know this so well because you remember if some big streamer calls you a Cheater in front of thousands of viewers…)

It goes to character and credibility.

Our game was some time ago. You called me an exploiter and your friend was dropping wild slurs and saying that I must be black or something. You were laughing along with him so don't pretend now, I remember that 'lol must be'.

Regarding Otz, I'll take 'things that never happened' for $500, Alex.

You and your friend are absolutely, astonishingly toxic. Otz beat you, and both of you went off on him in postgame. He absolutely never called you a cheater, you called him a cheater and your SWF buddy dropped some absolutely wild stuff in postgame.

  • @MeduSnake said:

I don't care that "people wanted him for years" or "he is new just learn how to play against him". He is just straight up annoying to face and in certain situations.

You know how huntress has to charge her hatchet so it becomes faster? Nah why would Jason get this fair and balanced downside, hold he button for half a second and have it at full speed.

You know how Legions and Spirits Powers have a limit that has to recharge so they don't stay in power zooming around the map until the find someone? Or Wraith and Dracula who can do it as much as they want but survivors have at least a chance to know the killer comes in their direction? Nah why would Jason need any of that when he instead can just stay in his power as long as he wants to. At some point a survivor will stand still or start to work at a generator, totem or chest.

You know how any of the other "Throw" killers have to go to a locker to refill their power, reload it or just have a cooldown? Nah why would Jason need any of that, instead he shall have extra reload stations at every 2 loop because there are not enough hooks around the map. Oh and the refill doesn't lock you in a animation or slows you down.

Is he a S++++ Killer? Nah I would say High B / Low A Tier. But he is another addition of the worst type of Killers in this game. He sucks against a full team but hey at least he can tunnel out 1-2 Survivors because at some point one of his fridge hitbox spear will hit you. Oh and when you are in endgame or in a 3 Gen situation you can just give up.

I completely agree, Jason needs a major buff.

This game cannot be balanced around solo players and SWFs at the same time, and thus we need to balance around SWFs.

So the survivor assumes all killers are toxic because of one killer, and the killer assumes all survivors are toxic because of one survivor.

Feels like a system that guarantees nobody learns anything. Strange that you’d defend the very behavior you’re criticizing, but to each their own.

It's not my place to become a martyr to fix the world. I just have to live in it.

Wait sorry, maybe I’m misunderstanding your point.

Are you saying that if a survivor bags, that specific survivor gets targeted, or are you saying that if one survivor bags, you start treating the entire survivor team differently?

Because I thought you were arguing the latter. For example if Ace is the one bagging, then not only Ace but also Cheryl ends up paying the price too even though she didn’t do anything.

That’s why I brought up collective punishment. It’s not saying the person  responsible for BMing shouldn’t face consequences, more so it’s that other people who are innocent are getting punished because of the actions of someone else.

If the only thing Cheryl has in common with the bagging Ace is that they’re both survivors, is that really “lying down with the dogs”? Even if she never bagged, never BMd, and didn’t do anything wrong herself? Or am i just misunderstanding?

If survivors get to teabag me because 'killers are toxic' then I get to kill the entire team if one teabags me.

Every time I see one of these, I go back to how survivors defended spots where you couldn't hook them, spots where you couldn't pick them up, original DH, prenerf Medkits, prenerf PTS, instablinds, infinites and pseudo infinites and perks that were massively busted forever…and I struggle to sympathize with things that give survivors issues.

this is BHVRS way of keeping their latest killer selling. They dont want him fair or balanced they want him to sell, then after a month they will nerf him like they do EVERY killer

    …What?

Dude. I'd say maybe 60% of killers have been appallingly weak on release or, at best, mediocre. Hag, Doctor, Sadako, Springtrap, Houndmaster, GF, Bubba, Dredge & co. or, even where they have been quite strong, nobody wants to play them (Krasue). You're also forgetting BHVR's tendency to nerf them to uselessness and leave them to rot for years (Freddy…).

Yes, Ghoul was busted busted on release but one swallow does not a summer make.

  • @Brimstoneslinger said:

I understand that objectively strong chase perks like blood favour, crowd control " NOED and devour potentially" should include hex condition to have counterplay because they provide huge and often immediate value but lets address elephant in the room- two recent chase perks are just a decent perks with quirky activation condition AND hex affix slapped on them for no reason.

Nothing but misery- perk already count only m1 hits and require 8 of them which roughly transition to 4 hook states, it means that at moment of activation killer already couldnt afford to chase survivors recklessly because 2.5-3 gens already done at those stages against decent team so prime value of perk is gone, it wouldnt be op nor terrible without hex condition

Scared to death- good predrop counter and healthy anti-tunnel condition, again perk activates closer to part of match where killer couldnt afford unstrategic chases so prime value is gone, also a lot of pallets could be wasted to this moment so activation condition autonerfs perk value, why does perk with "shot yourself in the leg" condition and further conceptional autonerf should also be a hex perk? slap this affix away and it wont become op or problematic, just decent

With this logic SBFL/rapid/brutal might as well be a hex perks somehow, also both of them useless at least through 1/3rd of match and Im not even mentioning specific killers with long setup time or hook denial/genrush playstyles which could delay those perks activation near endgame so they would provide a value at ~20% of match and somehow still could be cleansed

The most sane solution is to either strip those perks out of hex category or erase their activation condition so they would match blood favour/crowd control level of value

I do not follow at all.

Hex perks are supposed to be very strong, with the trade-off being that they can be permanently removed from the game.

A lot of hex perks suck. STBFL is a lot weaker than it once was, and BS is very mediocre. The answer is to buff those hex perks.

DBD was a fun game, unfortunately it is getting close to being beyond repair and that's due to the toxic cycle this game has become, Run Meta or Get Crushed. If you don't slug or tunnel as killer then you get abused by OP survivor perks but if you don't run OP survivor perks then you still get bled out or tunneled. Even after that people STILL complain that their side is harder than the other but it all boils down to the age old statement of "My thing is more difficult than yours". The reality of it is that Behaviour has nurtured their game so poorly they made a community of hateful people who hate pretty much everything and a game that almost nobody finds fun anymore. It's our fault for becoming this way but it's Behaviour's fault for letting it slide.

As someone who has been playing since…I think it was right before PH got released, yes and no.

On one hand - the meta is more varied now than it has been for a while.

On the other and - there will always be a meta.

The big issue is that SWFs exist and offer a stupidly big advantage to survivors, and there's no way to tell going into a match. As a killer the game feels designed to encourage at least soft tunneling or camping, due to how fast gens can fly if the survivors are good and coordinated as well as very heavy regression - but that same anti-sweaty-SWF build and style is going to dominate solos without them having much of a chance.

When I first made my account in 2019, I was going through the tbag, flashlight click phase in my dbd timeline, something I thought was cool at the time. But once I learned being toxic was also associated to harassing people in endgame chat and through messages, I regretted making my name what it is because I do not do that, nor do I tbag or flashlight click anymore.

At this point in time what I associate to toxic is trolling/harassing through messages/end game chat, and doing anything within the game that holds another player hostage which has mostly been minimized in the past year. "Toxic SWFs" are not toxic in my opinion because they are using (annoying to deal with) in game mechanics to win the game, UNLESS they are being toxic in endgame chat.

Anything designed to irritate, upset, anger or otherwise bother players that doesn't confer a concrete advantage ingame.

This ranges from teabagging/nodding to bleeding out/taking matches hostage by hiding and avoiding crows.
