who else with a game have had a forum? texas? evil dead? halloween?
Bioware used to have forums for Dragon Age and Mass Effect. They too got shut down some years ago.
I also vaguely remember forums for The Division, back when I played that game a lot -
Great work. I am glad we have people in the community who are doing this, so that we can keep the memories we made along the way here.
-
Most on here would probably remember me as @THE_Crazy_Hyena
While I have had some takes that people might not agree with, I have always tried to be reasonable. And you might remember me for my (rather unhealthy) love for Sable.
Anyways, I have gathered a lot of memories from being here over the last couple years, and I have gotten to know a lot of amazing people as a result. Too many to mention in one go, but you know who you are.Speaking of which, here is a Sable on a table
-
Honestly not surprised seeing Ghoul being ranked the worst to face against.

We have an unofficial Discord server with the same name (or rather "DBD Forums Refugees")

It can never truly replace the forums, both Discord and Reddit.

I feel like there is someone missing, but I can't think of a name

Easier was a way to say it, but people have been calling "easy", usually "so easy that its boring". Many here say this.
Yeah but we need to remember that now killers have to deal with Basekit Endurance - now with elusive -, anti-camp system, a strong meta - even after nerfs, specially in healing and gen speed -, no more hook grabs, 8 gen kick limit, nerf in perks like Pain Ressonance, Pop, Ruin, Dead Man Switch, Eruption, Call of Brine, etc. Also, some cheese builds got destroyed, like old Spirit with her addons, Starstruck Nurse, Forever Freddy, etc etc
Survivor got a lot better and know how to use their resources much more than years ago. Even a common lobby have at least one good looper - and we need to remember that when both sides are experienced, things tend to be stronger on the survivor side.
People tend to exaggerate on how "easier" killer is just because they don't have to deal with OG Decisive and OG Dead Hard but survivor got a lot of buffs, QoL and new perks in the recent years.
Cogs has a good point here.
While you mentioned that survivors has gotten basekit this and basekit that, alongside a near worthless anti-camp measure (that can be easily bypassed), the reality is that playing survivor outside of custom matches, or god forbid if you play soloQ or anything less than a 4-man SWF these days, you will have to sweat your bums off, and can't afford a single mistake to stay on par with recent killer releases, even if you run full meta perk builds. That is not fun or extiting gameplay anymore, it feels like a chore. To make a counterpoint to your argument, what has killers actually gotten over the years, especially since 6.1.0
- Much slower healing speeds, and especially self-healing on the survivor side.
- 90 second gens, up from 80 seconds.
- Many, many perk buffs, and add-on buffs.
- Complete reworks, often leading to much stronger kits.
- Much less safe pallets for survivors.
- Less strong window setups for survivors.
- More aura read perks, and lots of them.
- Many of the strong survivor perks from the past are now heavily nerfed.
- Ghoul, and subsequent outright broken strong releases (with the exception of Springtrap).
- Smaller maps
Another counterpoint is that, while the general survivor playerbase has developed a better understanding, so has the killer playerbase. The only time the survivor side is stronger is at the very top of the MMR bracket, like the 0.5% level or so. But for the more average players, the killer side is undoubtedly sronger as it currently is. They need to mess up royally in order to lose games.

Very well written post overall
Thank you kindly :)
I have a few hours (some 2400+) in the game, and while I mostly play survivor, I play the killer side too. I know how frustrating either can be, so I wanted to clear things up with OP's post -

Really tired of every new update survivors get NERFED, and their perks get DEMOLISHED and completely cut and changed. But the new killers can kill us faster, mori us at the start, have busted add ons that make the game almost impossible for survivors to win. And if your a survivor that COUNTER'S or tries to run a BUILD that is to save people IE: Flash light build, Sabo build, and so on. We get TUNNELED and mori'd as soon as the killers are aware. This game is SO unbalanced it is NOT fun anymore. THANK GOD halloween came out. Seems like you guys will be losing your survivor fan base to better games and honestly this is well deserved. Why did Vigil have to change? Why do you guys water down and nerf to oblivion survivor perks but the judgement can have a light beam faster than a bullet zoom through the map and down all 4 of us before we can even blink. That is COMPLETELY unfair Sick of this game honestly and the gross direction it's been headed in and I can't support it anymore. Will be playing halloween when i'm done with the rift pass. Played this game since BETA and It horrendous to it's survivor fanbase we deserve better. If they expect us to hug the wall and make a miracle out of a shitshow then at least clean up the invisible walls and hang ups that survivors face on every map. Let's be real and the actual slap in the face this last update was is the last straw. And if your gonna punish TBAGGIN then punish the killers too. It's WILD what you take away from us and go "we'll your a killer this is ok" is insane.
First off, I am going to break down your post.
But the new killers can kill us faster, mori us at the start, have busted add ons that make the game almost impossible for survivors to win
- Sure, new killers are often released in an overtuned state. Once enough player data is collected, the developer team will compensate by nerfing the worst aspects.
And if your a survivor that COUNTER'S or tries to run a BUILD that is to save people IE: Flash light build, Sabo build, and so on. We get TUNNELED and mori'd as soon as the killers are aware.
- What did you expect would happen, when you use the most annoying survivor strategy against any semi-competent killer player?
Look, a flashlight save or a sabo from time to time is fine, but if you and your entire team is running those kinds of builds, the killer will adapt to your shenanigans, and use their "cheese tacs" against you.
This game is SO unbalanced it is NOT fun anymore.
- While yes, some aspects of the game is in a very lopsided state, not everything is. At the higher levels of play, survivor is by far the stronger role, since a well-co-ordinated team can easily work around and give good info on the killer.
But when it comes to your average soloQ or less experienced teams, then yes, killer is stronger.
Why did Vigil have to change?
- 66% reduction on EVERY damn status effect is a little broken no?
I do agree that 20-30% on Exhaustion alone is a little undertuned. If it were like 40-45% for just Exhaustion, it would have been fair.
Alternatively, if it were 20-25% on every status, it would not be that bad either.
Why do you guys water down and nerf to oblivion survivor perks but the judgement can have a light beam faster than a bullet zoom through the map and down all 4 of us before we can even blink
- Some survivor perks has been in a very strong state for a very long time. Like Sprint Burst, which has been the de-facto Exhaustion perk for a man's age. But while some got nerfed, others got buffed. They are just not the "get out of jail for free cards" anymore.
As for the Judgment, we are probably looking at future nerfs, since players are starting to figure out how strong this killer really is.
Note: Some killer perks do need adjustments too.
If they expect us to hug the wall and make a miracle out of a shitshow then at least clean up the invisible walls and hang ups that survivors face on every map.
- This I can agree with. Maps has been in a horrible state for a long time. Ever since they messed with the pallet density update, maps has been really weird. Player clipping needs to be added to a lot of objects, but as to not make it so that every dash or chainsaw killer can just slide off of the walls, this clipping needs to be close to the ground, so that it mostly affects survivors.
This is a whole other can of worms that I have been discussing in earlier threads.
Let's be real and the actual slap in the face this last update was is the last straw. And if your gonna punish TBAGGIN then punish the killers too. It's WILD what you take away from us and go "we'll your a killer this is ok" is insane.
- I will say that both teabagging, "humping" and slapping someone repeatedly on the hook should not be allowed. Any kind of BM is immature and is just obnoxious to deal with, on either side.
-
As survivor: As of late. Celestial + Nemesis. That combo can burn on the stake in my opinion
As killer: Finesse + Lithe. Always hated getting robbed of hits due to that combo. -
Denuvo is crap. Too resource intensive, and is not known for being a good anti-cheat measure.
Denuvo is for DRM

We all know that ping is king, and DBD is notorious for having wide gaps in the server regions.
In both North America and Europe, there are servers that are offline for a lot of the time, and these are the following ones:- London (UK)
- Ohio (NA-E)
- Oregon (NA-W)
- Montréal (Canada East)
As for online servers we have these:
- Frankfurt (Germany)
- Dublin (Ireland)
- Ashburn - Virginia (NA-E)
- San Fransisco - California (NA-W)
- Sao Paulo (Brazil)
- Mumbai (India)
- Singapore (Malaysia)
- Seoul (South Korea)
- Tokyo (Japan)
- Sydney (Australia East)
Now, here are some locations that I will suggest:
- Stockholm (Sweden)
- Madrid (Spain) or Lisbon (Portugal)
- Istanbul (Turkey)
- Cape Town (South Africa)
- Abu Dhabi (UAE - Middle East)
- Moscow (Russia)
- Chicago (NA-E)
- Dallas (NA-Central)
- Denver (NA-Central)
- Vancouver (BC - Canada West)
- Mexico City (Latin America)
- Santiago (Chile)
- Perth (Australia West)
Reasoning for the suggestions:
Many of the server regions are either clustered together within small regions that does not cover a wide area with acceptable ping.
Such as with the United States, where the servers are located on the extremes of the country, which leaves the entire Midwest region in a weird spot, where the ping is pretty high (80-100 ms). This is where servers based in Denver, Dallas and Chicago would make sense.
Same goes for the entire African continent and the Middle East, where players often play on over 200 ms, because there are no regional servers nearby.
This is why Cape Town, Abu Dhabi, Istanbul and either Madrid or Lisbon makes sense, because these locations will cover a lot more of Africa, than any of the current servers does.Latin America is also in a grey-zone when it comes to coverage, so a Mexico City based server would alleviate the weird connection routing of this region.
And a Chilean server would greatly help the players on the western side of the Andes range. The last "wildcard" locations are not as critical, but would definitely help certain regions achieve better connection.
- Stockholm - Will greatly help Northern Europe and the Baltic regions.
- Moscow - A Russian server would greatly help the local playerbase get around language barriers.
- Vancouver - Will help players in the northwestern part of the US, and players in western Canada to get a server closer to them. Will also help improve ping for players in Alaska.
- Perth - Australia is a large country. A server located in the western part of the country would certainly help a little bit.
Depending on player numbers, players could be routed to different servers based on player availability in certain brackets.
Also, exclusively using AWS, when Google (and other providers) offer a wider range is not a good idea.
Besides, more backup locations means better coverage during downtime.Adding a map of my suggestions below:
I know I located the Californian server in LA, when it should be SF - Just imagine the green dot being in SF instead.

I agree, these would work fine.
Of course if you were to pair Trickster and Huntress, they'd have to make sure the locker reloads work properly.
I'd also say Vecna (D&D) would work well in 2v8, even in his base form. -
Every time I decide to play Myers, and especially when equipping Scratched Mirror, it NEVER gives me an indoor map.
Whenever I play Trickster, I end up getting Toba.
I load in as survivor, and I get stuff like Nostromo, Midwich and Fallen Refuge on repeat -

There are only so many spawn locations for totems on a 1v4 map, definitely not 1000 or even 100. If there are maps you're having trouble with finding the spawns you can load into some custom matches with a totem load out to find the various spawns until you learn them. If you don't want to do it that way bring a map or run one of the perks that helps to locate totems until you learn the spawn locations. There are also videos on YouTube that show the spawn locations.
Personally I like when a totem spawns on the edge of the swamp maps. If that happens it usually means its away from gens so the killer has to choose between defending the totem or defending the gens. When running a boon totem it also usually stays up a bit longer because killer needs to go out of their way to snuff it.
Eleven's perk, Extrasensory Perception is a really good perk for locating totems.

This just shows how unreliable all the stat trackers are and how their data makes no sense even internally. You have 15 iri Devout emblems out of 16 matches. Iri Devout is 4 kills. There is no other way to reach it (2 points per kill, 1 for hooking all once, 1 for 9 hooks in total). That's 60 kills. Nightlight claims you only had 41. Even if the final match was 0k, which seems unlikely because you had iri in every other category, it's still undercounting kills by at least 19 out 64 possible total.
It's miscounting DCs/abandons as escapes. Its data doesn't even make sense internally, and should not be used for literally anything.
The emblem tracker is not an accurate representation. It counts ALL grades, not just the iri ones.
Survivor DC's or abandons does not impact killer stats. -

I'm not asking for Sm treatment he's still very strong. You guys see any kind of nerf even if it's small as a skull merchant treatment it's your victim card y'all play
All Ghoul needs is the removal of the "cancel tech" (pallet vault without the downside), and not being able to cancel on top of survivors mid dash (which stops him dead in his tracks, instead of stopping at the end of the slide). That will introduce much needed counterplay to the most offensive strategies used today.
Animations could also be improved to give a clearer picture for the survivors to when the Ghoul is letting go of M2, as right now, there is a significant delay between the power being canceled, and what the survivor sees (time difference between power cancelation and visual kagune lowering).
-
SB has always been high-tier, ever since the early days of DBD. It is time for changes, that is for sure.
Then again SB in of itself isn't the worst offender, but when it is paired up with Vigil (in the current state of 66%), that is where the problems arise.
The question is then, what will ultimately replace SB as the top tier exhaustion perk? Lithe? Balanced Landing? Dead Hard? Overcome?Though, I do wish there were more significant changes to the killer meta as well. A lot of us are genuinely tired of seeing the quad slowdown builds, all the time. It really kills creativity on the killer side.
-
Iron Will, Self-Preservation, Blast Mine and Botany Knowledge. These 4 perks better stay as they are, or improved.

Yet on nightlight no killer even breaks 60% which is the stated goal of the devs. Just because your doing okay doesnt mean the role as a whole is doing okay. Alot of wins come from dcing survivors as well as altruistic survivors making dumb plays to save a teammate who could have stayed on the ground for 20 more seconds or on the hook for 6p second before saving them.
Who trusts Nightlight to be a reliable metric?
I would say that the cumbersome sumbitting system doesn't allow for a large enough sample size to be accurate enough, and since the submitting is manual, results can be cherry-picked into giving false results.
Here is an example from the official stat tracker. I am currently doing a challenge, playing a killer that I have never before played, and trying to see how well I can perform over 30 days with said killer.
As of now, I am sitting at 64%. Granted, I have not played that much, but I am still above the average (for now), with a killer that is regarded as very bugged and not particularly good. -

In most recent dbd history killers got 5% kick regression against grab removal, anticamp, longer hookstates, longer bt and since you want to derail the topic with "amnesia" argument anti 3 gen is a basekit perk too, pallet density is still horrendous and borderline lose-lose double pallets are implemented at most maps now, the survivor ui is a basekit perk on its own too
I specifically excluded basekit bt from my argument to not waste time at pointless discussions about early dbd changes but here you are mentioning bloodlust and infinites as its somehow relevant to current tunnel situation, why not go further? lets add old mori/bnp to our arguments atp, the truth is that in last 3 years one side received 5% regression while other received 4 antihook and 1 anti gen perk basekit, surely killer is my favourite side but comparing another loadout at top of 4 perks to some map changes and old balance that was excluded by other early changes is deflection of initial point
I made a comment about a month back about "handholding" mechanics on either side. Trust me bro, killers has gotten a lot of "hand-holdy" tools as well over the years. Though most of it were in the early years, when the killer role was actually weak.
Hand-holding mechanics on each side:
Killer:
- Bloodlust (free haste)
- Instant 5% gen regression
- No anti-camp in end game
- Killer Instinct
- Much worse loops around maps.
- Power Creep, and lots of it
- 90 second generators (up from 80 seconds)
- BNP's and medkits heavily nerfed.
- So much aura read.
- Remote regression (Pain Res, Turn Back the Clock etc.)
- Gen-blockers (Dead Man's Switch etc.)
- Thrill of the Hunt
- Faster animations
Survivor:
- Basekit Borrowed Time (increased to 15 seconds)
- Anti-Camp
- No hook-grabs
- 10% free haste off the hook.
- 70 seconds hook timers.
- More pallets to work with, but most are bad fillers.
- Removal of 1-hook moris
- A lot of aura read (but less than killers).
- Regression limits on gens
- Elusive
- Endurance perks

Question, would you be alright with the devs bringing back old brand new parts? It'd then become a normal strategy to use them and thus in your eyes be totally fine right?
Which iteration of BNP's do you refer to?
1. The original instant-finish a gen?
2. The first reworked, constant skillcheck one that gave 10% progression per great?
3. The second rework that gave you two difficult skillchecks, which resulted in a 20% progression bonus?
-

Because a survivor can't remove the killer from the game 2 mins in. What you're complaining about is survivors maybe winning; what survivors are complaining about is not being able to play at all.
I wonder how the killer mains would feel like if they were stunned in place for 70 seconds, unable to play the game, watching the gens fly around them if they hard-tunneled someone, because that is how it really feels like being on the receiving end of it.

For those that haven't yet seen, we have updated on Twitter (I will forever refuse to say X):
Following player reports, we have been investigating why the Toothy Torte offering is appearing less than the previous year, and while we have not completed our investigation into why the previous year granted more than the intended amount, we have made the decision to increase the current guaranteed amount of Toothy Tortes so that each level of the Bloodweb will have at least one offering to guarantee 50 offerings per Prestige Level for the rest of the Event, this replaces the current Mystery Boxes that spawn. Event items will still spawn in the Bloodweb normally.
We know this has been a massive source of frustration for players and we apologize that this has taken as long as it has, we want everyone to enjoy the rest of the Anniversary Event and the Bloodhunt. Happy 10 years of Dead by Daylight!
This is a much better compromise. Good thing I saved around 8 million BP in case it would be fixed. Yet I can't but feel for those who spent all their millions of BP and didn't receive many cakes as a result

I think 70-80 is high, but 50 were totally reasonable.
To say that my ~20 per prestige right now are higher than last year's is just a blatant lie.18-20 per prestige as survivor is not great.
But yes, last year with manual spending, 70-80 cakes per prestige was not uncommon.
So, this year, it has been reduced by around 4 times for survivor, and 3 times as killer. -
@Paxtonize said:

this was one prestige in the 9th anniversary (on survivor)
And that was with auto-spending not prioritizing cakes as well.
Manually spending, you could easily see 70-80 cakes in one prestige. -
@cogsturning said:
The wording sounds like the cakes will just be cheaper but still uncommon to get? No one was complaining about the price. They're complaining about the drop rate. It's hard to say it's still a celebration when people are this angry about something easily repaired and that reeks of greed.
Offering Spawn Rate: The current spawn rate is working as intended, providing enough Offerings to guarantee one per Trial while still allowing players to build up a reserve. With the previous issues now fixed, the current rate is slightly higher than for last year's Event, and Auto-Bloodweb and Bulk Bloodpoint Spending
now prioritize the Offering. In other words, this is a lie.
Even last year, you could expect to see 2-3 cakes per web, which was the intended drop rate, as it has been for the past 7 years (since the third year anniversary - and yes, I have been keeping track of it all).
Cake spawn rates has never been scripted until this year. The only issue we had last year was the incorrect pricing, due to the rarity system being changed, where the cakes got incorrectly assigned the Visceral rarity.
So even still, we could stockpile cakes for the next year of playing. That is not as possible now, if I were to play a similar amount of matches to last year's event, I would probably end up with a total of 260-280 cakes, which will only last 3-4 months.Hold on a minute.. cakes.. lies… Portal references?

Most pointless change in the history of the game, that only served to make a lot of players unhappy.

I cannot respond to all feedback, I do not have enough time! I do not have any statements or communications at this time, as we have shared information and communications regarding the bloodweb as of last Friday. The continued dissatisfaction is noted however, and something I can take back to the team.
It should be looked into, because a scripted drop rate is not at all fun to deal with.
Previous years had random amounts of cakes that would show up in the bloodwebs. In some cases, up to 3-4 cakes could spawn in a single web. This is the desired level we'd expect from the biggest anniversary event. -
Really well spoken. I must say it was a stark contrast to my angry post about the cake nerfs, but you genuinely said what needed to be said on behalf of us players who really cares about the cake grind.
I was discussing on a Discord channel about the very same thing, and to be frank, the cake grind has always made me come back to the game, even after longer breaks, because the cake hoarding made playing worth it.Here is what I said there:
I really used to look forward to the anniversary events every year.
Despite how bad of a state the game was in at the time, I always came back and spent a lot of hours grinding cakes.
This year, I have not had the desire to do so, because it will cost too much time to get remotely close to previous year's amounts. -
@jajay119 said:
I’ve been saying map offerings should guarantee you DO NOT go there for ages

Burn the map offering to guarantee that you never go to "x realm" for that match. -
Well, this CAN be fixed, but the core issue is WILL it be fixed?
The simplest fix would be to rewrite the rarity back to "Event" like the cakes used to be before last year's event, and "un-script" the spawns, so that more can appear in the bloodwebs.During the 8th anniversary and the years before that, it wasn't uncommon seeing 2-3 cakes PER BLOODWEB.

More bloodpoints its only reason many play even if they dislike the event.
As survivor this event gives you more then old dh and as killer only few can compete there due to how easy it is for survivor to just grab food and use it.
For me its survivor time or just jason, krasue, ghoul, blight, mayers, billy and killers like these which stand a chance in this mode.
I played weaker killers there but I got totaly destroyed and even bullyed because of busted effects like pallets that cant be broken but survd can vault them or almost infinite invisibility etc. on top their very strong effects from meta perks like ds,dh,unbreakable, etc.
This event is pure survivor sided and only survivors can compete there with top killers.
As some claimed here that the objective with cakes will take more time from survs no it doesnt take more time because all you have to do is just put one cake on table and then go restock it and use it on and on.
Worst event ever just hope 2v8,chaos shuffle or lights out are at doorstep after this crap.
More bloodpoints its only reason many play even if they dislike the event.
For once I agree with you Abbzy.
This is exactly why people has been waiting for the event, like every other year before. -

I mean are there anything they can do? All they can do is to just look at all those complaints silently and maybe send some compensation BP, but thats it really.
BHVR is known for really poor communication with community, they never listen, their community managers only answer to obvious questions or memes because idk they consider community inferior to them not even listening to people like otzdarva who 100% know this game better than any of the current devs. I got muted in their discord for pinging community manager and asking question about possible bug, because apparently it isn't ####ing community manager job to answer questions asked directly.
They have the ability to make hotfix patches that addresses the most glaring issues.
If they could implement the correct rarity to cakes, and make the drop rates random again (instead of being scripted), I am sure that would be fixed.
Then we have one less thing to be angry about. -
Don't know why they decided to be super-stingy with the BP this year, but it sure doesn't promote player retention, that is for sure.
I for one have not touched the game since the event started, because I have been too pissed off by the decision-making regarding the event in the first place. If this is how we are rewarded for sinking thousands of hours of our time into the game, then so be it. It is not worth it spending more time anymore. The anniversary events has always been the highlight of the year, but this year's event has been such a letdown when compared to prior years. Also, I believe the event points category gets applied separately to the regular BP gains (which gets multiplied by cakes), so that means even less for players to gain.
