You want to know what's funny?
In Dead Dawg Saloon, if you drop down inside from the second floor where the breakable wall is next to the generator, you will land on a table. Now all you need is to bring Sable, and there is the joke, right there in plain sight. -

News to me.
Edit: don't get me wrong, throwing insults around is not how you have a constructive discussion. It's fine to call this out. But if the forums became known for one thing over the last year, then it's that the team at bhvr cannot take critisism at all.
Like "The Thread" incident?

Same. All I could do is not contributing to the player count and leave my opinion in form of steam review. Not that it's probably going to be visible to anyone but it made me a feel a tad bit better to write paragraphs how I feel about this game in general and this event in particular too.
One minute of silence for the 10th anniversary plans of playing I had for this game and cakes to collect so I can use them with my beginner friend and get her into the game more.
Because there is no chance it will get better? Is there?
Not unless they do something about the unbalanced game mode and fixes the cakes to spawn as much as they did in previous events. Not some scripted BS, artificially limiting the supply

I don't know if the issue is my where I'm at in MMR or just getting crappy matches but I have had the worst time in the event. Every match is just Killers hard sweating for the 4k, tunneling, proxy camping the entire time. Or it's survivors just hard genrushing from the start and nobody in the lobby interacting with the event. If I wanted to hard sweat and win every match then I would just playing regular 1v4 without all the wacky and goofy stuff. Which is exactly what I've gone back to doing. I just don't see why it's so hard to just have any sort of fun in this game. Everybody treats every match as life or death. As if they lose this match they won't win million dollars or their family will perish.
All I ask from the community is to just have fun. Enjoy the wacky and silly things that you can do in the event. Have fun with the other people in the game that you normally would be at odds with. These events are meant to bring people together and to have laughs and farm BPs. I've had 2-3 matches so far where I've honestly had a wonderful time. Using the invis or the invul to make plays, lose killers, and do other funny things. Did I escape? Nope. Do I care? Absolutely not. The event isn't meant for winning. It's meant for fun and goofs. Just go have fun and goof around with each other. I promise you'll enjoy it more and you won't raise your cortisol trying to hard sweat in a mode where somebody can invul sabo your hook and auto pick the whole team up with a banquet table.
Every event queue is like this, and has been like this since they divided the queues during events.
MMR certainly doesn't help either, and neither did the finisher moris they introduced last year. -

I don't like that cake drops have become a system instead of random occurrences. Maximising cakes has become a chore.
In an ideal world, this should never be the case.
I genuinely have no clue what the actual reasoning is behind this highly unnecessary change, that was made to anger the playerbase. -

Its more likely more because them being Very Rare level makes them more likely to appear in the P100 characters bloodwebs thing that people complained in other events of not getting event offerings on them and in this one nobody has complained of that so it seems to be working.
They should never have tampered with the rarity in the first place. Through Year 8 (Screech Cobbler), these event cakes and event items had a unique "Event" rarity that didn't affect the normal drop table.
This got changed last year, when they changed the entire rarity system, but at least the cakes were common, and perfectly grindable for players wishing to get their characters to P100, and have leftovers that would usually last the year, and also to help other players who were in the same lobby.
This year however, they flipped the script completely, made cakes so infrequent, they might as well have been Bloody Party Streamers. Not only do we get WAY less cakes in total, but the time investment needed to get them is too much for most players. That is why we are angry about this whole change, which was totally unnecessary, because it disrespects peoples' time. Not everyone can afford, or want to sit and grind for several full days, just to maybe get enough cakes to last the next cycle.
And here is the kicker: Due to the limited supply of cakes, people are refusing to use them for the matches played during the event.

They nuked it to about half its commonality from previous events. It's much better now than it was, but still at about 50% output from what I can tell.
It's more like 20% for survivor and 25% for killer as compared to previous years
-
More data sourced on cakes. Using the auto-spend feature netted 20 cakes for survivor, and 26 for killer.
On average, 1 prestige level (50 levels) cost 1.1 million BP.Still, just a drop in the ocean when compared to previous years, when getting over 100 cakes per prestige was the norm.

It is indeed a step in the right direction, but we still need the rates to be on par (or better, because 10th anniversary) than previous years.

Like I suspected would happen. We are going to see diminished BP gains from this event, as a result of this decision.
-
Yeah, those rewards makes zero sense for the massive amount of work.
Wonder what individual over at BHVR hates the playerbase to that extent, that we are only receiving measly scraps for the community event. I would have expected at least 1,000 Iri Shards and 1 million BP. We are celebrating the 10 year anniversary after all. Yet, the rewards for anything so far has been abysmal. -
@Wezqu said:
Like also the fact is that I feel like the Very Rare rarity makes the cakes more likely to appear on bloodweb. My reasoning is because there is only about six Very Rare offerings on both sides. There is about 11 offerings on the common level so to me it makes it more likely to see the event offering to appear on the Very Rare offering slot on bloodweb than its chance to appear on the common offering slot because there is more possible offerings to appear on that Common slot than there is on the Very Rare one.
Still it might get balanced by there being more common offering spot on bloodwebs but I don't have data on that.
It wasn't that uncommon to see 2-3 cakes per level in the previous years.

You never see killers bringing bloody party streamers it feels like. There’s not much of a point unlike survivor where you might queue with some friends and wanna help them out. If killers ever bring anything that benefits survivors it’s anniversary cakes, because they’re so common. Now they get maybe 1/5 of what they normally would, which hurts survivors more than killers since pudding offerings are only uncommon rarity and not terribly hard to get.
I see it happen ever so often. Killer players can be generous as well.
I for one rarely queue without a Party Streamer (or cakes when I have them), because I know the hardship of the endless grind in this game. -
@Cornil said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4093181#Comment_4093181
I am especially curious as to what BHVR’s thinking was. Someone mentioned it was to prevent “hoarding a thousand offerings from the anniversary,” but is raising the rarity from lowest to second highest the solution to that? Is it a problem that needs a solution to begin with? The character you get the offerings on you’re forced to play to use the offerings, they aren’t interchangeable. If you manage to play the game enough during the anniversary, don’t you deserve the thousand offerings? It’s the most hype time of the year for the game in terms of new content. Perhaps they thought making players need more playtime to get the offerings would make them play more. But it’s likely the inverse, players will be discouraged to grind, the rewards aren’t worth it.
Theoretically, they could’ve just made the rarity uncommon instead of common across the board for anniversary items and the backlash would’ve been maybe a tenth of what they’re receiving now. But I’m of the shared opinion that no change was needed at all. Survivors can get commodious toolboxes frequently if they manually use their bloodweb anyway, and killers will just bring puddings instead of anniversary cakes since there’s no difference on their end. Killers don’t play with anyone else in the lobby, why should they care if the rest of the players get an extra 100 percent? This update guts at least half of the enjoyment found in the anniversary celebration.
It has never been a problem during previous years. So why would they change it now?
And you are absolutely right about this decision is more discouraging than helpful for player engagement. We grind enough for Bloody Party Streamers as it is. The cakes used to help a lot in making the grind tolerable, and to be honest, shareable BP offerings are a blessing. I really don't like the personal ones, because sharing is caring. And caring is positive. -
@Cornil said:
I play both sides equally. I used all of my offerings on killer from the year 8 anniversary to get Alan Wake to prestige 100. My career hours on survivor is a good 25% higher at least than killer. And yet, I tend to side more with killer lately, because outside of the S tier characters, the game is in a pretty noxious state (assuming MMR is working properly). Equal skill survivors obliterate equal skilled killers on the majority of maps when the killer isn’t in the top 5 strength-wise.
Yes, it is undoubtably true that survivors get less anniversary cakes than killer. It’s been that way for all offerings since forever. Survivors have numerous items they can get, each of which have 5 to 10 addons they could use. Meaning not only can survivors get every kind of rarity item, but the addons for them. It over-saturates the blood web greatly for them. BUT, in regard to the anniversary, survivors also get flashlights and med kits pretty freely (or at least before the rarity change right now) and commodious toolboxes (the best kind) basically for free. There is some compensation for survivors getting less anniversary cakes, as the items they get are generally good. This update ruins some of that as well. Like, why is a standard anniversary flashlight, which is uncommon, now rare? Just because it’s got cosmetic changes for the anniversary? It doesn’t make much sense.
Killers have one power, far less addons to deal with, so their blood webs are far less cluttered, meaning a higher chance of getting anniversary cakes. However I’d say that this update to the rarities has royally screwed over both sides pretty equally. Survivor items are now harder to get, and killers best addons now have to compete with an overglorified bloody party streamer. It’s hardly fair to anyone.Very well said sir. This really highlights the problems that changing rarities cause.

So again, you said:
"it sucks for everyone, but also it sucks worse for x side"
Again i ask you.
Are you completely incapable of just saying: "BHVR, this sucks for everyone, fix it" without bringing sides into something that is just objectively bad for everyone and has nothing to do with sides? This is precisely why this community is so completely utterly screwed up, because everyone boils EVERYTHING down to "sides"
Then don't make a big deal out of someone saying one side might be worse for cakes. It sucks for everyone, sure.
For context, I did drop around 400k points on killer manually, and I saw maybe 4-5 cakes in that amount spent.
That equals to around 80-100k BP spent per cake, or 2-3 levels in the later stages, which is an atrocious drop-rate for an item that we used to get multiples of per bloodweb in prior years, regardless of the side you were spending points on.I have yet to find out how bad the survivor bloodweb is, but if it really is as bad as it sounds, then I will probably skip it entirely.

It's not just an "us vs them" thing. This is about everyone.
But yes, survivor bloodwebs does have more event items in total, and if those items are going to clutter the bloodwebs, resulting in even less cakes, then we have a major problem on our hands. -

Kinda disappointing, I thought people were over exaggerating about the offerings being harder to find then I manually spent 3 prestiges and got 19 cakes. At least make them Rare or Uncommon if you don't want them to pop up 24/7 this is genuinely such a low amount compared to previous years.
The cakes are the only reason why people play during the event and now people have less of a reason to play.
The primary reason for sure
-
@AbsolutGrndZer0 said:
This change was made last year too, actually. They said back then that yes, it's intended because they don't want you to have thousands left over after the event like previous years.
Which, for other events where the items are locked to the event that makes sense, but for anniversary cakes that have always been able to be used all year round, that's BS.Makes zero sense for event cakes as they are shareable, and usable all year long.
Probably also a reason to avoid bulk spending as the logic prioritizes cheap items and offerings first. Since very rare items are 4000 BP instead of 2000, the logic will avoid the cakes. -

Blast Mine (Jill) is a great perk for BP. Guaranteed 900 boldness BP if the killer decides to kick your gen.
And like others has mentioned, great skillchecks is a good way of earning BP fast.
Stakeout (Tapp) is great for this scenario, since you are guaranteed 4 greats (1200 BP) if you have it fully stackedUnhooking and healing other survivors is also a must when going for max BP, since you get 1000 for the unhook itself, and 1500 for a safe unhook bonus (2500 per unhook), and 1000 BP for a full heal. It's generally easy to max out altruism if you are going for it.
If you are good in chases, this is a great way to earn big BP fast.

A way for players to review cases, and submit verdicts based on the evidence.
These systems used to work really well, and hunting cheaters/pottymouths was a fun pastime. You were usually given a couple options in your verdicts, like "evident beyond a reasonable doubt" (usually led to a permanent ban if the majority voted for this), "pardon/not enough evidence to suggest" (suspect goes free) or "minor infractions" (timed ban and/or chat restriction of up to 1 month)

Well sure, generally speaking, solo queue surv is the clearly the hardest role to play in DBD, but "playing soloq survivor is infinitely harder than Killer ever could be"? That's too much hyperbolic generalization.
I mean I've only played surv solo since 2020, but I'm here to tell you that playing a D-tier killer on a bad map against strong survs is worse. It's the most helpless I've felt in DbD, and I've played this game from just about any angle possible.
But that's the thing; playing killer isn't as consistent an experience as playing surv is. How hard it is varies wildly based on the killer you're using and the maps you get. Playing Blight on Fallen Refuge or Nurse on Midwich? Cakewalk, a trained monkey can win.
But try Myers on Badham, Onryo on Mother's Dwelling or Trapper on Eyrie against survs who aren't braindead and you will know pain.Myers isn't that bad on Badham, especially if you use Scratched Mirror. Ironically enough, the amount of times the houses and the school are more detrimental than helpful against SM Myers is hilariously high. Sure, patroling the street is hard, but when you get to hold the houses locked down, it is fairly easy to foil the survivors.

I guess they have also fallen victim to trolling teammates, and were able to catch it happening to you.
One time I played killer, there was one survivor who tried leading me to another who were just hiding away, clearly afraid, since I was on a roll that match. I ended up killing the one who was ratting the other one out, and I gave the last one hatch. -

At least you can see and hear Wraith approaching, which isn't the case with Jason.
That gives you ample time to react. Jason is on top of you the moment he appears, and you are almost guaranteed to be hit. -

not exactly a perk but i really miss pre 9.3.0 syringes. i loved the little mini game during the chase where both killer and survivor had to lock-in during that 24 second time period to either prevent the syringe or pulling off the syringe. nowadays it’s just very dull to use. like “wow i stood still and immediately got my SB back so now i can hold w to the next filler” is nowhere near as fun and enjoying as the old heal-over-time syringe.
for an actual perk, i’d have to say spine chill. that perk was amazing for all skill levels. it helped newer and intermediate players be aware of a killer approaching them while also giving the more experienced players a nice vault speed in chase. the perk has been dead since that rework 4 years ago and it’s sad that it doesn’t seem like the devs are planning to bring it back into the light anytime soon.
I was to mention Spine Chill as well.
A perk that was frequently used back in the old days of DBD, that got absolutely destroyed by 6.1.0, and nerfed into non-existense.
Another good contender is Boon: Circle of Healing. Though it still sees use to this day, the removal of self-healing really gutted this perk into irrelevance. -
Well, while release Drac had a lot of issues, he really can't compare.

You have. Ghoul, vecna on release and dracula on release are all comparible to this release.
The valid issues with jason are A) his haste last too long, B) his power is on a low cd and c) theres no real punishment for missing a shot, as scrap piles are many and all around. The other things complained about are usually a result of survivors not taking chase and refusing to take aggro (which you can choose who takes aggro due to his power, which is unique to him) which leads to standstills.
Ghouls issues were soo much more aggregious. Vecna's early mage hand cd and skulls cd were horrendously low and dracula had a low cd for switching between forms.
I also started in 2018. These are just the most recent examples. I remember back when nurse's attack didnt class as a special attack and worked with m1 perks for example. Or old slowdown freddy.
Jason is overtuned, but nowhere near as much as your comment seems to suggest
Ghoul is pretty much beating a dead horse at this point. We all know what their problem is.
And D&D Vecna was not as overtuned. He got a massive buff when they shortened the cooldown on Fly however.I do remember old Nurse and Forever Freddy, but Jason is in a league of his own. Sorry to all of you who like playing him, but the truth is that it is absolutely miserable to play against him, because of how much he has in his kit and his add-ons, for basically free.
