I genuinely do feel this would be added shortly after the introduction of killer bots, if not with it. Because with the amount of "do thing at endgame" challenges/quests/whatever it's practically a prerequisite.

I don't think we're getting Killer bots, personally. It was promised so long ago at this point and 2v8 hasn't gotten us any closer.

especially during this gamemode ive been feeling the DC penalty changes from way back. the amount of survivors DCing from killers hard tunneling to win and the amount of killers DCing from well timed table setting has been way higher than the normal DC rate, at least from what I've seen, and I myself have DCed a lot more too, but after one DC in a day of 30 games sometimes I'll instantly get a 15 minute ban

I got up to 15 too, but only because the game is unstable and kept crashing. 😭 Which is another reason to be more lax on the penalty. If they're going to continue to roll out big updates that hardly work, it's unfair to expect us to foot the bill for it.

    Nerrfed?

You live in which dimension. All I know is through years hook grabs are gone so pros for survivor, some meta second chance perks such as ds,otr are turned off so cons for survivors, the antihook protection is still there with buff time in full time 15 seconds with haste so pros for survivors.

Now tell me thats bad for survivor, anticamp was never in endgame and was only meant for time of the trial when gens are a thing so killer doesnt hard camp close to hook or facecamps but devs cleary stated they know in endgame killer has nothing so guarding a hook is must.

SO again some very strong perks dont work -

    Killers cant grab +

Antihook protection stays there with full time of 15 seconds with haste +

So what negative survivors have in endgame compare to old days? Maybe they cant use ds but thats been gone more then 5 years ago, so nowdays survivors are strongest in endgame then ever actualy so Idk where you see that allmighty nerf when they have more compare to what they had 5 years ago.

You just explained it yourself. A bunch of perks turn off that weren't like that before in order to give Killer an easier chance at securing kills. Survivors don't have any comparable "catch up". Base kit BT is the bare minimum they can do, honestly.

  • I said all Survivors do is put plates on a table and I stand by that. The buffs aren't guaranteeing a mass of 4es and we all know it. At the end of the day, it's a meh event that only encourages bad manners. Hardly fitting of the 10th anniversary, but if it isn't symbolic of what the game has become over the last decade.

  • I'm gonna continue to say it—we can avoid going over all of these potential scenarios just by changing the DC penalty. Max it out at 15 minutes, have it degrade like it used to, and replace all DCed players with bots. The last thing a frustrating game should do is penalize players for being frustrated. All it does is prematurely age the game, as we've seen.

Yeah I'm ngl, this really irked me and not to mention killer queue times are longer than ever. I'm sure we could lose the bad actors and watch them adapt and evolve the system from there.

IDK I'm just sick of the bad actors in general rn event queue has been like:
    -Hex Jason
    -Sluggin Twins
    -Slugging Blight
    -Overtuned af Myers
-Legion poison abusers with end fury (shouldnt work on their power) ←— this one is the kicker coz I swear Legion has ruined every single new event we've ever gotten: 2v8, Lights out and now this.

It's relentless every time. Nothing is ever really done and they wonder why no one wants to play. 😵

  • I think this event is really all the proof that I need that I'm over DBD. It's not that I was expecting much to begin with—it's more that it's clearer than ever that the game is actually not improving at all. BHVR still has an antagonistic relationship with their audience (they're just more gaslighty and passive aggressive than directly aggressive like in the past), balancing is nonexistent and getting worse, cosmetics don't match the feel of the game anymore barring very rare exceptions, new content is flaccid at best, and all of these updates are making the game more unstable (I've already crashed twice during the event and the harsher penalty for DCs is making it worse). Even communicating with other fans feels more like early stage group therapy than anything fun or rewarding.

It's just a subpar experience created with talent of equal caliber that cultivates negativity above all else. Not worth it.

  • This doesn't make sense to me.

Survivor endgame has been nerfed to the point where basekit BT is all that's left (aside from teamwork, which is a toss up). You don't think there should be a free kill, but you think you should be able to healthy hook grab during a part of the game where you're encouraged to camp. Those two statements contradict each other.

For those that haven't yet seen, we have updated on Twitter (I will forever refuse to say X):

Following player reports, we have been investigating why the Toothy Torte offering is appearing less than the previous year, and while we have not completed our investigation into why the previous year granted more than the intended amount, we have made the decision to increase the current guaranteed amount of Toothy Tortes so that each level of the Bloodweb will have at least one offering to guarantee 50 offerings per Prestige Level for the rest of the Event, this replaces the current Mystery Boxes that spawn. Event items will still spawn in the Bloodweb normally.

We know this has been a massive source of frustration for players and we apologize that this has taken as long as it has, we want everyone to enjoy the rest of the Anniversary Event and the Bloodhunt. Happy 10 years of Dead by Daylight!

Likewise, I think we all refuse to call BHVR competent. 😅😝

Literally everyone, even the most survivor-biased players, concede that this is a very survivor-sided event. Speed boosts, free heals, free teleports, free invisibility, free invisibility, unbreakable pallets that make literal infinite loops - like, what else do you want?

You really need to try playing killer sometime and I think it would do a lot to help you gain some perspective.

The event is definitely in Survivor's favor, but we just got a very strong Killer and camping/tunneling/slugging is the same as it ever was. It's why Killers are willing to put up with something that frustrates them because they still get consistent wins even when Survivors are buffed.

  • A24 would incorporate really bad dialogue and make it too torture porny. Blumhouse is more likely to be fun. But the odds of a DBD movie being good are already really low. Do any of us really know the lore? Is the movie going to end with them all dying? How boring.

  • I just finished FFXII for the first time in about 15 years. This time TZA. I think this was my favorite playthrough.

  • @Elan said:

To be honest I think a lot of people forgot how DBD worked 2-3 years ago. Syringes, safe pallets everywhere, infinite windows, 80s gens, most gen perks had higher repair speed. But on the other hand killers had learning curves, needed to work around that, didnt have many slowdown perks (ruin, surge, pop, corrupt). New killers require minimal skills if any to perform way better than old killers sweating as much as possible (example Krasue, Ghoul, Jason, buffed Billy etc.) So I think that both sides become somewhat different and meta perks? Cross examination didnt even been in PTB for one day and they already announced it to be nerfed after everyone cried about it like no one has eyes and need scratch marks. On indoor map maybe… But if every perk that has potential will be nerfed meta wont ever changed.

What really was the nail in the coffin for me was the disaster AFK crows + DC penalty update that went live for an entire week, while the anti-camping/tunneling/slug patch had the plug pulled DURING the PTB.

  • It's a fitting follow-up to "Operation Health" last year. In my opinion, BHVR cares about the fanfare—the stuff they can sell, the party they can advertise, but they couldn't care less about the game itself or their community. You know, the foundation of what made the anniversary possible.

  • @cogsturning said:

Yeah I just don't really know what the motives are. With DC penalties it's forced engagement to lose the penalty, so I guess that makes (twisted) sense. But the one that hits you for inactivity can potentially punish you for someone else's behavior—and it's a hated behavior that the game has greenlit too. And banning people entirely for anything but cheating is just baffling to me. You can't engage with and spend money on a game you've been banned from. And yet they won't clarify the rules. I don't know why transparency is so hard. If there's clear rules then fine, enforce them, but otherwise it appears random.

It's like the queue. For the longest time, nothing could be implemented because it might affect the queue. Then 2025 breaks that trend and this only seems to reinforce that. Does the queue not matter anymore?

  • I hate to say it but this is par for the course. 2025 was probably the most embarrassing year for the company, in my opinion. 2021 was pretty horrendous and prior years had scandals of their own, but 2025 had them openly show that they were all about unjustly punishing their players while doubling down on issues that have harmed the game since its inception. So to expect a big turn around the following year is really hoping for a lot.

    @NeverSolus said:

If my partner treated our 10th anniversary with the same steadfast ignoring of everything remotely pertaining to the anniversary or myself, it would go poorly. BHVR has thousands upon thousands of people in this comparison that they've disrespected in this fashion. I'm a bit alarmed to see them do it, but here we are.

Using this as an example—how many times are we going to tell ourselves that our spouse is just in a bad mood when they disrespect us and discredit us and make us feel like we imagined the things that bothered us? That there's always some justification for how they've treated us? That they're really not like that? That eventually they'll change?

When do we finally decide to call it quits and find someone who treats us well?

  • PLEASE don't mention Tryks. 😭 They really thought the game needed a "we have Harley Quinn at home" quirky girl. I prefer the theme of this event to whatever she was. But the execution is a lot less fun for sure. The roulette style felt like it kept the ball rolling (regardless of the abilities themselves). The table mechanic doesn't do much to compensate for the effort required to pop it off. While the "busted" (don't agree) abilities seem enticing, they're not really so different from a flashlight squad that falls apart without an undisturbed gen jockey. I would've preferred to see something that requires a more balanced interaction versus something that encourages griefing and sweat.

Isn't he confirmed to be getting buffs from a famitsu interview?

I don't really have an issue with trapper, with buffs I can definitely see him being well rounded finally, rn it's mainly just setup that's the issue IMO. Takes a lot of time.

That last part is my experience. The traps aren't weak and he himself still has access to all of the same perks and cheesy catchup mechanics. It's just that there are multiple ways to play him and raw dogging dopamine hits by over-committing to chases and not patrolling isn't the way to do it. But with enough "balance" I'm sure it will be. 😵

  • Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the heavier DC bans were phase one of this process. We saw what that looked like a year ago—the system was there to punish but it didn't know how to. Then it was scaled back to create a system where you feel like you have to stick things out that you wouldn't tolerate in any other game or else. A stricter report system without a clear idea of what's enforced puts everyone on edge all of the time while giving the ones enforcing the rules a lot more flexibility. You can't really contest a rule that you agreed to but were never told.

That being said, I'd love it if they were to clarify this but I don't think that's in their MO.

we're aware of issues with the gameplay, unfortunately we have no planned changes for during the Event, this is a first iteration of a new type of Event and the feedback is going back to Designers for future iterations.

It's gonna be like 2v8 isn't it? 😫 This iteration isn't very engaging for either side, but I see it becoming something in the future where Killer is heavily compensated to the extent that it's more or less 1v4 with a very slight twist.

Its always been like that before the penalty started right after the DC happened but as that did not really effect those that did it when they stopped playing as they were not going to play anyway Behavior changed it to only start the next time you press ready. So if you press ready and the counter starts counting down the time that is literally real life time so the game does not need to be on to it to count down.

How deceptive of them. I'm a little impressed.

  • Right as Jason releases too? We know the answer to this. At least the event is distracting people for the most part.

I'm speaking more on the normal queue front. without any crazy add ons or perks from an event standpoint. The pallet density alone gives the survivors the power role depending on the killer. Handful of killers aren't teleporting through everything to end a chase, and if they have build to counter that then that leaves gens to get instantly turned on in most cases.

There is a massive gap between point A and point B in that example.

I’m not entirely sure if this is what you’re referring to, but it’s false that you have to keep the game running to make the penalty go down.

You do need to ‘activate’ the penalty by attempting to queue before it starts ticking down, tho.

Are you saying it continues to count down passively after you start it? If so, very bizarre.

  • The game is poorly balanced and there is a trickle down effect with bad egos coming from the top. Malice and anger are cultivated and rewarded, much like the lore of the game ironically. Fairness and skill are nonexistent. Expecting a positive, fun-loving community in light of that is beyond unrealistic.

  • Killers always flock to events these days to ruin them for Survivors. It takes me back to Lights Out when they'd just camp hooks to avoid having to try. At least with the separate queues, you can bounce back and forth. If both suck, try not to worry about it. The event rewards aren't worth it.

As far as Jason goes, give it a few months. They always nerf Killers once the sales start to dip and they usually fall out of favor barring a few examples.

  • @Mandy said:

I would say (as someone who sees the data) yes Disconnect Penalties are definitely necessary, whenever penalties are switched off the DC rate increases vastly.

Do you feel the current system is fair? Because I've never seen another PVP game hold on to a penalty indefinitely so that it can count down in real time (akin to a time out) and tell players to spend over an hour minimum playing through 20 rounds to even see their record go down. Especially for a game that is not ranked and doesn't have very stable solutions to issues like camping/tunneling/slugging. It seems more designed to cultivate frustration and fear, and maybe maintain the aforementioned data, than it is to improve the quality of the game.

Likewise, why would the heavy penalties toward DCs need to be implemented but the Surrender mechanic is fine? Is that data retained while DCs are not? I don't know if it's ever been specified before.

that's because most survivors are dog ######### and rely on perks to carry them or other people being good enough to carry the bad survivors while killer has to do everything on there own. as well altruism wins me most games on killer people go in for save before i even leave and then they get mad i kill them.

The difference being that Killers have a lot more systems working for them in the game than not. Survivors have no catch up mechanic, they have very little presence in endgame, and nothing to defend themselves unless they're lucky or they have great synergy with their team (something even SWFs often lack).

Survivors can't decide they're going to play the strongest power, run perks to deny progress, and use an overpowered cheese tactic to win the trial. Even with this event, how many Killers are leaving the trial with less than a 2k while these "impossible" abilities exist? Your situation with the pallet is unfair. The mechanics don't feel fun. We can acknowledge that. But this grandiose idea that Survivors are much stronger and are stomping the poor Killers is a stretch to say the least.

Because when a new killer drops, the game doesn't necessarily become unplayable. It gives the impression that the new killer is harder on SoloQ because of how the game is structured in a 1v4. In typical 5v5 games, when a new character drops, it doesn't feel as impactful because, since you're gonna face them alongside 4 other enemies, the game isn't dictated by how much you and your teammates know how to counter the new abilities. On DbD its different, since the game is dictated by the killer, so your random soloq teammates, not knowing what to do against Jason (because they likely haven't watched videos about how to counter him), are just gonna be at a great disadvantage. This is, however, the structure of the game as a 1v4, and there is little BHVR can do about that unless they just never release a new killer again. But objectively speaking, none of the killers BHVR released since OG Legion have been OP, to realize that, you just have to use Nurse as a standard, which is a killer that is VASTLY superior to any other killer to an absurd degree, and yet on competitive, she just doesn't stomp every game, even when survivors have guardrails to them.

That being said, the difference between new killer releases and this mode is that this mode has a severe balancing issue, while new killers make the game harder because it takes time for survivors to adjust, which is understandable.

That's definitely part of it, for sure. But Killers are being released with unbalanced, bloated kits likely to make more money. It clogs the queue so that that's all you get and most trials are a total steamroll. Technically yes you can queue up during that, but it's really not worth it most of the time. And unlike these events, there is no separate queue to escape it. You either play Killer and wait, or you don't play at all.

  • @RavenBirb said:

You need to play super aggressive or lose, survivors power through mostly every game if they aren't afk or playing brand new.

survivor mains really just need to get a clue

It sounds like you have a lot more autonomy than the average Survivor then. You're still choosing to play super aggressively in the event queue as well, which honestly is only proving that even with stronger powers Survivors will still be easily steamrolled if Killer wants it bad enough.

  • They sure know how to celebrate, don't they? They'd rather us buy every character at a discount than just do something cool.

  • @GlamourousLeviathan said:

Most modifiers tend to give stuff for the killer side, or at least you can make an argument that it's even. Lights Out is the one that favours killers the most. Chaos Shuffle is balanced, but you could make an argument that since survivor meta perks are stronger the ones killer current has, this mode makes killers stronger than on normal game. 2v8 is massively survivor sided, but having an 8 person survivor lobby makes it so that the odds of one or two bad survivors being your team very high, so it is not as bad. Last year's Halloween event was very even, survivors get a smoke bomb and a different dimension to bring the killer on chase, and killers get a projectile that *damages*.

This anniversary event survivors get universal heals, endurance on command, Sprint Burst on command, full invisibility on command, the ability to fix broken pallets, immortal pallets, haste that makes you Huntress speed, universal action speed buff, and other stuff. Killer gets a projectile that slows. Dude, it is just not comparable.

I see your point, but given the state of the game, I'm still left asking the same question: what do the trials look like? Because personally this doesn't feel very different from how unplayable the game becomes when a new Killer drops (minus the fact that the event isn't producing wipe after wipe). It just affects one side over the other this time.

Now that's not to say that you have to like it and you're not allowed to call BHVR out. I just don't see how it's the end of the world either.

I mean I'm literally playing trickster and having the time of my life as killer, the poison is really cool I'd love something like that as a perk some time.

That and it's fun trying to find survivors who are in stealth for me, like a bit of hide and seek, I just think killers don't like a challenge… thern there is the ones who "accidentally" get stuck in Gideons and Midwhich like "Help me stepbro I'm stuck". It's a valid thing to complain about, but who gets stuck there despite being aware of it.

For sure. Sometimes it's hard not to play the world's smallest violin after being slugged 'til bleed out and seeing the anti-slugging measures shelved forever. 😵 Not that it's even about that but come on, you know? 😂

Exactly lmao I get that one-sided events suck, but it gets old always having to pretend that Killers are always the most affected by everything.

  • We already have the Visual Terror Radius so I'd be fine with this. The game is historically lacking in accessibility options (which end up neglected). The only issue is that the game would have to be balanced to accommodate it and I'm not sure what that would look like. I could see someone like Spirit being a real problem.

I'm talking about character development. I'm saying he's being used as a symbol. And so far you're only arguing that he is a symbol and not a character. If that's what people want, then that's fine. But I still find it to be dull and lazy character development.

Would you rather he dress and sound like a white guy who has no pride in his background/heritage? I hate putting words in peoples mouths but I TRULY struggle to see what you would've wanted our first Indigenous rep to look like. He's not a stereotype, caricature, or symbol. He is a fully realized character that just so happens to be Indigenous and proud of that fact, all the while, avoiding any sort of whitewashing.

His clothes (not the traditional ones) look like drip with tribal symbols. It doesn't make me take him very seriously. I'd have the same opinion if Orela wore a trans flag hoodie or if Claudette wore jeans with an Autism Speaks patch. There's nothing wrong with them being diverse—it's that there's zero subtlety or depth in presenting it that way. It reads as inhuman.

He's Indigenous and grew up in an Indigenous community… He is going to look and present in ways that reflect that. I recommend you watch Reservation Dogs not just because Shane's VA Dallas Goldtooth is in it but because it shows you a specific look at youth culture among a specific Indigenous community. I see nothing wrong with Shane or his portrayal, dude is sick.

No offense, but that only makes me feel more that he's a symbol and not a person.

  • So far—and someone can correct me if I'm wrong—he's the only character with a notable character trait that is that blatant. You can generally tell a lot about the characters based on their appearance or their body language. Shane already presents as a Native American, but then he wears the iconography on all of his pieces like it's a designer brand. 😭 I don't find it offensive at all, but it's overkill and makes him feel two-dimensional. You immediately view him as a symbol and not as a person.

  • The banquet hasn't really turned the trial around for my Survivor games tbh. It might be different with a hyper coordinated team, but it's just been the strongest Killers playing for slugs while I grind the event by stacking plates on a table. Aside from that, given that events always tend to be one-sided and bounce back and forth, we have been overdue for a Survivor one. It's just not really engaging enough to do.

  • I noticed that too. Super disappointing. I still want Vee's tambo perk. 😭

The stats take the average survivor vs the average killer, not the best of both.

If your point is on average killer is stronger than all types of survivor, sure I'd agree considering 40% of the playerbase is soloqueue, and comp swf is like 1-10% at best.

But thats not what you were responding to, and is an entirely seperate conversation. You've derailed it from "best survivors vs best killers" to the average, and have made our past 3/4 comments useless because you couldn't comprehend basic english.

And if, i hope your not but it sounds like it, your trying to say "stats say survivors lose more often by stats so survivor is weaker", stats also say nurse is weak so i guess she needs a tonne of buffs. Oh wait no, because one stat taken in a vacuum doesn't help us come to any reasonable decisions.

TLDR: The conversations you responded to, and I reiterated repeatedly, were talking about the best in each roles, not the average, and you have failed to contribute anything to that matter and only now are pivoting to an entirely different and not widely debated topic to make it seem like your comments were worthwhile. Either you didn't read anything said and were responding on autopilot, because your poor feelings were hurt, or you've shifted the goalpost from the original conversation to one nobody was talking about. Almost everyone says soloqueue is weaker than killer, and that takes up 54%-58% according to their most recent stats, so this will largely shift the stats. However, that does not mean the strongest survivors are weaker than the strongest killer.

Oh brother. And here I thought I was saving you time by not compiling things and you insult me. 😵

I've been No Mither gen jockey, No Mither healer, No Mither totem squad, etc. I haven't run it as often since the Distortion nerf however. With how aggressive the game has gotten, it's just a one way ticket out.

People in dbd are always complaining at any point of time, that's one thing I learned and I'm probably not much better (to be fair, I never leave games so in that case I won't back down :D). Also do you really think that this would make the game any better? Do you really think playing the game halfway to 2 gens down and then having the killer leaving would make it better? Or the sable goes down first, "oh well we are only 3 people now - uhhh 2, oh well I'm alone now...". Taking away the penality won't help it in any way, there's a reason why most games have one for that if they don't let a new person join after a dc.

I just don't see what could be desirable about having people leave matches random that ether ends the match or just deletes your chance of winning completely.

Also to the lower part even tho it wasn't for me:

People always have to assume that they won't have the best chances possible. Both sides can stack perks that just destroy you together, if they also use a good killer or map and are playing good you will just lose. Giving up because of something like that just feels like a child being mad not able to win.

And if you're so fatiqued that you don't even want to play the game anymore... just don't, you're just bothering yourself and others with that. Just take a break, play something else, maybe get a coffe - but that, that just doesn't help anyone.

The game isn't stable enough to not have support for leaving the trial early, as Abandons have proven. It does way too much to waste your time. So to counter your point, the game still allows you to lay on the ground doing nothing for 5 minutes. The game still allows you to be hard tunneled out without less than 10k BP. The game still allows the right builds and the right Killer powers to combo together so that you make no progress. And those are just a few issues on one side of the spectrum (which you also touched upon).

The issue with not addressing player fatigue is that that attitude of "if you don't like it, then go home" never leads anywhere good. It's not like DBD is a small friend group or a club—it's a massive IP that is always trying to bring in new players. If they're introduced to a meat grinder and told to suck it up, they will leave and we keep seeing that be an issue.

DCs wouldn't improve the game by any measure, really. They wouldn't solve core issues or fix bugs. It's more that they offset bad scenarios and spare players' time and energy. They also have the side effect of keeping some of the worst playstyles in check by punishing those players with a lack of engagement. On top of that, unlike the current system that locks players out of the queue until they've served their time and doesn't back down on that time until they've played 20 consecutive trials (which is a significant amount), it also keeps the matchmaking moving. Currently the game tells players: you can deal with it or leave. And if you are dealing with it but you have a bad day? Get out. And if you've cooled off and come back 3 months from now? Sorry, you're still in jail.

To me, that is much more unhealthy and downright unusual for the game than just throwing in bots that we already have. I have never seen any other game be this strict, let alone one that isn't ranked or evenly balanced.

if they do you can always borrow my treacherous crows+no mither combo Plagues and Myers hate this one trick...

I fear all the time for No Mither. It's one of the very few favorites I have that have been safe. 😭

  • Why would Survivor play? The most aggressive Killers are in the event queue and the only thing that's fundamentally different is putting food on a table. 🤣

  • I'm not sharing my Survivor combos just in case they end up in another patch note 🤣
