The DBD Community Has No Concept of Fun
I don't know if the issue is my where I'm at in MMR or just getting crappy matches but I have had the worst time in the event. Every match is just Killers hard sweating for the 4k, tunneling, proxy camping the entire time. Or it's survivors just hard genrushing from the start and nobody in the lobby interacting with the event. If I wanted to hard sweat and win every match then I would just playing regular 1v4 without all the wacky and goofy stuff. Which is exactly what I've gone back to doing. I just don't see why it's so hard to just have any sort of fun in this game. Everybody treats every match as life or death. As if they lose this match they won't win million dollars or their family will perish.
All I ask from the community is to just have fun. Enjoy the wacky and silly things that you can do in the event. Have fun with the other people in the game that you normally would be at odds with. These events are meant to bring people together and to have laughs and farm BPs. I've had 2-3 matches so far where I've honestly had a wonderful time. Using the invis or the invul to make plays, lose killers, and do other funny things. Did I escape? Nope. Do I care? Absolutely not. The event isn't meant for winning. It's meant for fun and goofs. Just go have fun and goof around with each other. I promise you'll enjoy it more and you won't raise your cortisol trying to hard sweat in a mode where somebody can invul sabo your hook and auto pick the whole team up with a banquet table.

Every event queue is like this, and has been like this since they divided the queues during events.
MMR certainly doesn't help either, and neither did the finisher moris they introduced last year.
Most of my survivor lobbies there's always people sweating with the tables and autohealing as soon as anybody gets hit they then gen rush for the next minute reset tables and wait again.
So the issue is 1 of 2 things:
I've played games where it started off fine, got 3/4 hooks in the first two gens done, then i struggled, especially with the buffs they can get by setting the table, and they end up with a 4e that feels entirely because i played chill and they didn't. If i had sweated a bit harder earlier, maybe then i could've got one person out then chilled and it wouldve felt less devastating. This isn't so much on the survivor side as the killer side.
As a killer, i feel if i misjudge it i get a very unfun game mixed with teabagging, and frustration at being unable to down anyone/them getting healed up by the banquet.
As a survivor, ive yet to have a game, but could very well run into a game, where the killer starts chill then ups the ante on jason/ghoul/nurse/blight and starts sweating and i struggle, but then I blame myself and the team for not being able to play it out, whereas there's much less room to react to these things on the killers end.
Some people’s idea of fun in the game is hard tunneling or gen rushing. Everyone should be able to play the game the way they want within the rules and not feel bad about it. If there’s something broken in the game that is causing one side to less fun than the other, that will be reflected in queue times and BHVR will have to make balance adjustments.
Apparently plenty of people are having fun in the game even with all the complaints because the player count is basically at an all time high right now.
I wanna blame a lot of Content Creation who involve in the competitive scene also, all the win streak videos etc
MMR is definitely the catalyst
"Wacky and goofy" in this case being unbelievably powerful effects.
Be glad killers are queueing for the event at all.
all the wacky goofy stuff is given to the survivors, killers get a weird version of clown's purple bottle that can be effective but that doesn't make it fun.
What fun I have in the event is the wacky and goofy unexpectedness of using poison in conjunction with killers like legion and 4k'ing. The poison gives me an opportunity to test synergy with lower tier killers to experience what it would feel like if they were buffed or properly balanced out. Also playing Trapper and trapping the portals, or skull merchant and droning the tables, etc etc.
That being said, survivors don't seem to be appreciating it much. But I'm having fun, so I'm glad we're on the same side of logic!
devs are literally adding 1v1 mode, if you trying to appeal to comp audience then get ready to get ton of backlash from those high schoolers whose entire personality is DbD
Its primarily the game itself that doesnt work on fun. And the development promotes this.
My issue with "enjoy the wacky little fun things" is… killer doesn't really get anything fun. You get a clown bottle ability that forces them to walk if they keep running and poison morsels/objectives. Not to mention you lose the ability entirely to poison anything when one gen is left in exchange to get some tiny buffs for yourself from the morsels. I mean I guess its fun if you run Legion or Knight with the clown bottles but other than that nothing really on the killers side of note.
Mind-boggling that you're copping downvotes for just repeating what this community has been saying for years. Everyone claims to want the freedom to play as they please, yet we know they mean only they should have that right.
Fun fact - a lot of those competitive content creators are part of BHVRs consultancy team lol so they're literally helping direct the future of the game. Fun!
unfortunately the nature of gaming has becoming very 'all or nothing'. in a game that still forces you to have to share a playerbase pool with those who see the game differently, its really difficult for everyone to find a way to balance chill gameplay and competitiveness.
that is why people have been fighting for a separation in queue types for specific playstyles the longest time. but this isn't going to make things any easier as people will go where they please. sadly, at least for the type of game that this is, i don't think there's any way to make it work for all. the best thing you can do is simply accept things as they are and just facilitate your own gameplay. someone will always disagree with your vision for how you see the game, but at the end of the day we're all here to play on dead by daylight.
in hindsight though, i think the removal of MMR regulation in event queues contributes to this issue significantly. people who are actively pushing to win are not being forced to play with similar players like they would be in regular public queues. others who are playing casually feel this.
I completely agree with this. I've been dying to get a ranked mode in DBD for the longest. This wouldn't completely solve the issue of people sweating hardcore in quick play but it would at least get a large portion of the mega sweats out of the general queue. I would love a ranked mode personally since I enjoy trying my hardest. I also think a ranked mode would contribute greatly to event modes like this because the people sweating will just finish their quests and go right back to ranked and most of the rest of the people left would be people wanting to interact with the event mechanics.
that's a good viewpoint. all around the game just needs more options for people to spread out. we are at the point where queue times can be sustainable, and luckily it sounds like that it is a path that the game is steering towards with the introduction of sandboxing.
perhaps there's hope?
Hope does seem to be on the horizon. I mean I am honestly super excited for the introduction on 1v1. Not only will it be fun and a great way to get better at looping. I also think it will significantly increase the overall playerbases skill level which might help see some buffs to much needed killers, like Pig, Trapper, and Ghostface. I also think somebody will sandbox some form of ranked which is all I will be playing whenever it happens.
It just seems like the community has no concept of fun. There is a visible minority of the DbD community that's here, on other forums, on reddit, on X, in Youtube comments and elsewhere who like to moan about everything they think is wrong with DbD. Then there are a massive number of players who don't interact much if at all with the community aside from just playing the game and/or watching some of their favorite content creators who foster more positive communities.
For some people winning is fun and sorry this even ks so survivor sided killers have to sweat or they just lose because of how broken survivors buffs are in this mode. I play both sides and have regular won games on survivor where the killer didn't even get a hook because I spent all game sneaking around keeping the tables filled and helaing my team which just undid all the killers work. If your on a non meta killer you will suffer sadly because the mode is just that survivor sided. Also tunneling and slugging are the exact same as flash light saving or Gen rushing its just a way to further you game plan if you dont like it bring anti tunnel perks and anti slug perks just like killers bring light born and regression perks.
Well ya someone fun is another person suffering and everyone thinks what they find fun everyone else should also find fun its human nature and you sadly need to think about it out side of yourself but most people wont or cant do that so they see they didnt have fun so that means the other person must hate fun
Not really the consultant program is just a shield they can use everyone whos in it that I have talked to says behavior doesn't really listen to them just asks weird questions that dont really amount to anything.
Yeah… the only thing I'm super grateful for is the blight changes that they helped with. A lot of the other things I feel they have gotten really wrong. Like Krasue at launch, I was watching their opinions of the ptb how she was "weak". Of course everyone can be wrong sometimes, I just idk.
Still hoping they revisit perks again soon and help ones which could really use it (the walking dead/Vee and Krasues chapter/FNAF) coz we've gotten some utterly useless perks over the years on both sides.
The mode is mildly survivor sided but that is enough for everyone to throw up their hands and claim its wildly survivor sided, we see the same thing happen with 2v8. The poison is so strong and non-interactive that it easily matches most of what survivors can do. I have yet to lose as killer in the event mode (about 20 matches) playing as Jason, Plague, Unknown, and Ghostface. Have I struggled in some matches, of course, but I still won even against teams with someone doing exactly what you are.
Don't play PvP games if you don't like playing against players trying to win their matches.
Comp players were not the ones claiming that PTB Krasue was weak.
It was like this before the lobby split. The split was supposed to minimise it, but I guess the sweats realised they'd have an easier time killing survivors who weren't focused on gens.
No I'm not gonna name names, but I watched the opinions live of particular CC's who are in the consultant program
As someone who plays both sides the mode is wildly survivor sided they get way more and way stronger effects. And no the poison isnt the same as instent healing invincibility speed invisable unbreakable pallets. If you think the poison that only gives the killer realistic a hit if they hit a shot or set up a good bottle vs all that you clearly dont play both sides and shouldn't speak in stuff like this
I still think it was a huge mistake to split the queues for the events. Not only do we still have players completely ignoring the event, we also have even worse match-making now. This is not an improvement. The hopelessly poor MMR system doesn't even work well when there's only one queue, so it doesn't have a prayer of working when there are two queues.
I know the game has grown but I wish BHVR would realise that we still don't really have a player base large enough to support 2 queues.
It also doesn't help that you have to queue for the event to unlock the cosmetics, so we have players forced to play the mode who don't care for the goofy mechanics on offer. That said, this event is not it from a Killer perspective. Feels like you're playing against hackers and all we really have to combat that are the bottles of poison with their tiny gas clouds (which also serve to remind me why I never bother playing Clown. Aiming with the bottles on controller is a struggle).
I have played more killer in the event than survivor but since I don't agree with your opinion I clearly don't play any killer, how typical.
Survivors get way more I agree and killers should have gotten more to interact with and the whole cake fiasco is dumb. However, you don't need to hit the survivor with the poison, just throw it at the pallet they are trying to use and they are forced to either run through it or try to make another resource. Even if you want to throw it right at them I have not found it hard to aim or hit with at all (are you on controller?). Its a single hit sure but you start the match with four poison bottles and get more on a timer.
I agree that the insta-heal is incredibly strong but the time setting it up is someone off gens (its certainly worth the short amount of time but it is still time off gens). Unless it gets used at the correct times (again someone off gens) it doesn't even do much. There are multiple killers that straight hard counter it like plague or any insta-down killer (particularly deadly with the poison) and if the survivor gets picked back up by it you can just hit them again, unless you were planning to hard slug them you are probably still nearby.
The speed, invuln, and invis last literal moments and if it lets them reach something you can drop chase and go somewhere else unless whatever they reached still leaves them in a bad position. The survivors will also only have access to a single one of those in any given trial not all three. The invis makes a noise and the survivor still moves grass, I went against this ability as ghostface and the survivors would try and go invis whenever I marked them and guess what I still downed them because I could tell where they were. The unbreakable pallets is silly but only useful on certain pallets and against certain killers.
Altogether, I think that makes the mode mildly survivor sided and you are just refusing to adapt to what the mode is throwing at you. So maybe for you it really is wildly survivor sided, for me it isn't.
I feel like most people don't even know you can hold the button down and get the aim arch and get more distance to the throw. You can literally chuck that thing a long distance too even if you most likely have not reason to do that really. You can even use it to cut the survivor off by throwing on the pallet they are running to.
What a terrible thing to say. I disagree with your opinion, but you have every right to share it on the official forum, just as others do.
