Flash bang is one of the most unreliable (mostly due to user timing error admittedly) fiddly ass perks to use, and I very rarely see it being played, though I give kudos to anyone who manages a save with one. Getting a flashbang save is difficult if you don't know the timing, a second too late or too early, the killer hears that metallic 'tink' and can look up or just turn around.
Every perk is irritating to the other side in some shape or form, some of them need looking at and nerfing, but flash bang really isn't one of them.
-
Altruism in general does not kill. I literally run a build around safe saves and healing. STUPID altruism kills. Swarming the hook, hook farming, running in without taking out NOED or healing up, these are dumb moves that yes, will get you killed. But even without the perks i run such as kindred if a survivor is smart and patient they can usually get a safe save.
Camping situations are a little more difficult to deal with if you aren't in an SWF, but using just a few braincells should enable two or more to enact a save.
Unless it's a Bubba.
You're on your own with a camping Bubba.

Hello,
I am looking for a missed connection. As of tonight, around 9:30est, I played a match as huntress. Right as I loaded in, I took a few step forward to the middle of the dead dog saloon map. Suddenly, the overwhelming ping of diarrhea struck me. It was a request of immediate action. I stopped, leaving my huntress alone, staring deep into the depths of the desert. I hurried to the bathroom, hoping to be done fast enough to return to the game. Unfortunately, I was wrong. I heard you four survivors, longing for my presence, vaulting and blinding, yet, I was a hollow shell. As the end game collapse bells rang, I came to terms with the thought of never playing that game: a game of infinite possibilities, and here I am, sh*tting liquid. So, to you four survivors in that match, if you read this, please know that I am deeply, deeply sorry.
Sincerely,
SoloQueue

I really really do not get the issue with the nurse. I mean I 'understand' the complaints but I just don't see the severity quite so much as those demanding that she be nerfed...again.
I'm going to preface this by saying I am at most 'average' in a chase, I'm not a 2 gen pop looper, I panic too much and don't always utilize my surroundings in a stressful chase (I'm working on it!). I've been playing against nurse before her major changes, and I simply don't feel the same vehemence for her as the average survivor who seems to want her changed irrevocably to uselessness.
She telegraphs her intentions so much. The sounds when she readies a blink, the way her body points and even the blink trail (i can't think of another way to describe her 'woosh' lines as she blinks lol) are all indicators as to where she is going and that seems to be enough to dodge more effectively. I'm not saying She is powerless or not difficult to go against. I just don't see her as any worse than most killers.
Sure you get your uber nurses that will just turn your team to jam, but after trying to play nurse myself, I know full well that it isn't just pointing, clicking and a survivor appears on the end of your weapon. Sure, she can be a nightmare with the right perks and addons, but so can any killer on the roster. Some games are going to be unfun, like a big ol knockout slug nurse, but so are some of the combinations of various killers, it's part of the game.
If you truly cannot stand the nurse as she is, come up with some fair (for BOTH sides) and balanced ideas instead of demanding she be nerfed into oblivion.
I'm not attacking anyone for their views on nurse, different people view killers in different ways, but it is getting old seeing the forum trend of viewing difficult aspects of the game, as 'unplayable'.
-
I wouldn't mind at all if killers kept their addons for after the event. They aren't infinite and I for one would find a random clown or Micheal suddenly gaining hyper speed in a normal game, freaking hilarious, even if I died.
-
Yeah, I had an incident last night where I crashed during a pinhead chain event, thought it was just me till I learned that the pinhead crashed a minute later. We're pretty sure he didn't DC since he literally just hooked a second person in the basement before he disappeared. Only happened once though, the rest of the night was fine.
-
I totally wasn't humming the Pink Panther theme while sneaking up on it!
-
The best way to combat Franklins is to not give a damn about your items. When I go into a game, I'm going to be relying on my perks, not the medkit or toolbox I brought in. Perks are the meat of the game, Items are just the icing on the dessert, and if they get smacked out of my hand, too bad, maybe one of my teammates will pick it up and that will help the team in some way.
I can understand the frustration but honestly, Franklins is by no means Op. It sounds more like an inconvenience at worst, and considering I'm usually just toting a brown medkit or toolbox in solo, a waste of a killers perk slot at best.

People sleep on shadow step so much it I can't tell you how many times I've come around a corner chasing a survivor for them to just be gone.
Personally, it's not really sleeping on the perk, so much as getting crap from team mates because they "Wasted time running to the boon and it wasn't even CoH!"
I quite like the perk, but between sore winners, losers, and people who just want to be butt hats, it's not worth the extra hassle. I think it's more useful with an SWF who knows the score, and just another reason for people to whine in solo que.

Thats assuming people are running those perks
Thats a really crappy argument. You have to waste perk spaces to protect against tunnelling. Shouldnt you be using the 100 options of perks to increase your enjoyment of the game? Then killers whinge and cry about survs using the same perks over and over. Well if there wasnt so much tunnelling and camping, maybe they wouldnt need to?
You are also basing this on playing in a 4 man. Most solo/2 & 2 games you do not have team mates taking hits for you or going out of their way to save/take hits. Half of the time you are left on hook until phase two anyway.
Your argument has no merit
You pretty much hit the nail on the head with the pattern of "Just use perks a and b" quickly turning to "Perks a and b are overpowered and overused, nerf them"

Shrug.
I joined when this game was extremely survivor sided.
Now the game is fairly balanced (killer versus SWF) or a bit killer sided (killer versus solo) depending on how survivors approach things.
I think, between the time I started playing (early 2020) to now, I've had a total of 2 survivors give me a kill on a blowout game.
I started learning survivor last year. I'd say I've seen maybe 500, likely more killers in that time give someone hatch or a gate.
What I'm saying is:
- 'Killers' aren't a monolith. There are some mean ones and some nice ones. Ditto survivors.
- By the numbers (and I'm sure anyone who plays both roles will back me up on this), you are more likely to be shown mercy by a killer than a survivor, even though there will be 4 survivors to every killer.
- Many survivors expect to be let go if they're the last survivor - again, I'm sure any killer player will confirm how often we get BM in postgame if we don't give hatch. However, on games where all survivors escape, there isn't even a consideration of giving them a charity kill.
It seems that there's a double standard here, where killers are expected to abide by unwritten rules of sportsmanship that survivors aren't. Why?
This right here.
I love giving the killer a quick and easy last hook if there has been a couple DC's in the match. It ends the game quicker and it's my way of saying "I'm not with those guys and sorry" Do I have to do this? Nope. But why should I then expect small mercy's from the killer when the lost match isn't their fault any more than mine?
How many times do you insist on last hook when farming instead of heading out the gate.
Do you try and help an obviously new killer out?
Do you refuse the hatch or open gate in favour of taking a hook?
How many times do you compliment a killer who is obviously good rather than being salty about getting smashed? Seriously Billy and Oni mains...those sweet sweet corners...
None of the above are things you SHOULD do, are obligated to do, or even in game incentivized to do, but those things are pretty much all on par with what you are expecting here, and I RARELY see fellow survivors do this.
We are all so focused on our own sides and what we can get out of a situation when in reality, if you want more sportsmanship, offer some of your own.
Could mean the difference between that killer being aggravated enough to go full pink addon 4gen slowdown in the next match, or the killer being chill enough to not utterly curb stomp the next poor sods.
You give what you put out into the world, even in gaming. Trying to make killers feel guilty because they just wanted to get the game over with, will get you nowhere.

But EULA says different, so please answer me sir; does it gives unfair adventage to swf or not ?
You know they do. Everyone knows they do. BHVR know they do and after comms being part of DBD for years, nobody has been banned for using it, nobody WILL be banned for using it because BHVR has said that they do not consider comms to be cheating, and would be hard pressed to come up with something that would auto ban comms on several different platforms.
I'm not sure what you are looking for in this thread other than aggressively trying to get someone to agree with you. You already have that, plenty of people hate comms, but there is nothing to be done about it because as already mentioned, under BHVR's rules, they do not consider it cheating. They even, as already mentioned, have an official discord where SWF's can join up on comms.
I'm a solo player 90% of the time, so really have no use for it, but neither do I have a particular animosity for it. Whether you or I or anybody else considers it an unfair advantage, it's not going anywhere. It's just one of those things you will have to live with unless BHVR suddenly decides it's bannable. End of story.

Direct copy from EULA;
Use or distribute “auto” software programs, “macro” software programs or other “cheat utility” software program or applications.
Facilitate, create or maintain any unauthorized connection to the Game, including without limitation and (b) any connection using programs or tools not expressly approved by BHVR:
from Wiki;
Cheating in online games is the subversion of the rules or mechanics of online video games to gain an unfair advantage over other players, generally with the use of third-party software.
Mods have said time and time again that this example does NOT cover using comms. It is not bannable or considered cheating by BHVR . If you are unconvinced, simply @ a mod and they will confirm it for you.
Regardless of your opinion or interpretation of the rules, this has already been covered many times.
-
It could also be a quick way for them to filter through stuff that isn't bannable. Oh you're reporting for camping? Yeah not looking into that. I don't imagine them making those tactics bannable without saying something. So reportable yes, bannable no.

One of the rare occasions a solo queue came together to NOT troll an obviously new killer. We were facing a huntress on dead dog, and it was very clear they were not used to throwing hatchets. They got so discouraged they went to stand in a corner. After much convincing gesturing on my part, I managed to convince her to come to the bar where I started, ducking and moving behind the bar like a carnival duck. Other survivors twigged what I was doing and we proceeded to do this for about 20 minutes so the Huntress could practice, eventually spreading out and giving her some chase / vault/ drop practice too. Haven't laughed so much in a while and a game where the killer could have come out discouraged led to an amicable 4k for her.
Against a nurse in Azarov with a friend. The other two are found and injured at the same gen within half a minute, they both DC. At this point me and my friend have a rule. Killer gets robbed by the other two players, we give them a chance to farm or outright kill us because we aren't winning with 5 gens to go against a decent nurse. We spent a good portion of time giving them as many points as we could and insisted on death hook. I complimented the nurse after game, they WERE quite good, and confessed I sucked at her. Dude offered to teach me some stuff, which he did, and we're still friends to this day.
-
Survivor here. They don't care about the long animation, they disconnected because they screwed up and want to blame it on anything but their own idiocy. He took a risk to bodyblock, but it didn't work out, cue disconnect and blaming it on random crap. Nothing unusual here. The biggest clue being the ridiculous claim of the hook animation taking too long.
Just count the grains of salt and move on.
-
I run Lithe a lot, it's never stopped me from being grabbed / hit at the window.
-
I remember when I used to play on ps4, occasionally you'd get a message while in the lobby, that the killer was doing this challenge. Most of the time it went well, the killer got themselves their achievement after letting us farm for a little bit. Didn't work every time. Sometimes there were 3 or 2 willing participants, and a couple who didn't want to play ball (fair is fair, nobody is obligated to, just as no killer is obligated to give hatch or farm) but I had enough of those messages that I know it helped a few people out.
It's made harder now with cross play, and sadly the killer can't join start lobby chat (or at least I haven't seen one use it)
It'd be nice to think that people would be more accommodating, I try to be when I understand what's going on, and at the very least I try to be the last going down. However just as no killer is obligated to make a survivor's match fun or easy, no survivor is obligated to ignore the fact that your build and intent, have a counter.
-
This honestly used to be standard practice. Gen 5 is done, split up, 99 or open gates, and get ready to set off the protection train. I even run empathy to track where the last survivor is being chased, open the door and then get to that protection hit. The number of times it's been me being chased, I get to the gate, and not only is the gate not open, nobody is there because they are hiding. I mean, yeah ok, nobody is forced to take that hit, but if you're fully healed and right by the gate? Come on!

How many brown medkits and toolboxes do you have on your most played survivor? I'm at 68 and 80, lol
This is just out of curiosity btw
I don't actually have more than like 20 of each on my main girl Jane, mostly because i solo a lot and it's been so bad match making wise that i don't bother taking in the good stuff just to watch two (for example) no mither Leons who are not very good at chases go down like potato sacks while the 3rd player teabags me from across the field while im on my first hook lol. The few times i swf with a friend, then I'm busting out the yellows and greens. Browns are good enough for solo and they are good for one heal / one gen.
-
People need to understand that actual GAME balance isn't "They got something, so where is ours?" BHVR isn't a parent that has to make sure the kids feel equally special and they have painted themselves into a corner trying to satisfy everyone, and now they are running out of bandaids.
There is far too much clutching of pearls over small advantages given to either side
Not every decent team with similar perks and an altruistic ethic in game, are an SWF. Meta's exist, and they don't only belong to a bunch of friends.

And how is it exciting for survivors lol, noone asked for it.
If you re talking about UB that will be nerfed anyway during PTB so dunno what you on about
This. We didn't ask for this, and if anybody did, they were quickly told no, because the idea of getting yourself up without a perk is just stupid.
Nobody seriously asked for this, and I honestly hope that the massive amount of feedback during the PTB causes them to rethink a system neither side asked for. There was nothing wrong with moris.
I'm not excited about this change, I'm concerned it's just going to promote more unbearable gameplay. I suspect a lot of other solos are worried about it too.
-
I think it's less about whether the pick-up is a good idea and more about whether the mori rework was even necessary, to begin with. If they do implement this silly change that nobody asked for, then yes, I'm sorry but you cannot stand there and tell me with a straight face that the majority of killers wouldn't just get slap happy and go for the slug nearly every game, not with the camping and tunneling numbers I've seen in the last few months. And I mean actually camping and tunneling, not the "Entitled surv main calling everything camping and tunneling" type.
Without this stupid idea. survivors would not need to have the ability to pick themselves up. I've always been of the opinion, that unless the killer is an EXCEPTIONAL high mobile killer, no team should be getting 4 man slugged, it's no different than a NOED camp or regular camp, you don't feed it and slam gens till an opportunity arises. But now? If this mori change gets implemented, killers will be leaping for the opportunity to run slugging builds and solo will become even more unbearable. So they came up with the pick yourself up plan.
So while I would never advocate for survivors getting themselves up without perks under normal circumstances, with this mori change, yes it will become nigh on necessary fo the game to be even playable for solos.
Remove the mori change, and you remove the reason for survivors needing to pick themselves up.
Edited to add: I wouldn't blame killers for trying an easy slug 4k either at this point.
-
I used to be altruistic to a fault, I mean I still run my ambulance build among the others I'm trying, and my personal 'win' is getting as many people out of the gate as possible, often to my own detriment. But ever since I came back to an apparently drunk MMR system there are days when I feel my team mates have the collective intelligence of fried spam, and suddenly all I want to do is get myself out of the gate.
There are some matches where no matter how good a team mate you try to be, you simply have the energy sapped out of you when you hit that second hook stage and there's only one player, halfway across the map, still crouch walking to you while the killer has already been out of your Kindred radius for about 40 seconds. It's more painful to watch because safe hook saves are what I do best. (Hey some of us are great loopers, others do better in support)
I'd never purposely throw a match out of spite, but i can understand not wanting to go out of your way too much when team spirit was flushed away along with your second hook stage.

Yup. I've noticed it, particularly since the new patch, specifically due to terrible teammates, the camping and tunneling are kinda "Meh whatever"
I've made it a point to put the damn game away when this happens because the mood rarely improves after that. Everyone gets agitated to some degree.
-
Not a bad idea.
It would also be nice to be able to sell sets of items / offerings we don't use for a set bp price or BP offering. Seriously, I could build the Taj Mahal with all the hatch offerings and flashlights I have.

I can usually tell when he's reloading. I 'think' I also hear the click right before the shot, or perhaps when I hear the wind up I'm more alert and imagine it, I haven't faced many gunslingers lately so it's hard to tell. But yeah, I can definitely hear him reloading. I think most killers have some visual / audible tells in order to give the survivor a small chance to dodge a hit, especially if they are out in the open.
-
@Akumakaji said:
My prediction for the PTB: everyone is running UB for that juicy 22,5s self pickup. Killers will notice this pretty soon and after a couple of escaped survivors will pick up and hook immediately.
Some survivors will bemoan that the new UB is a scam because they get never slugged, most others will adapt and use other perks and eventually we will have normal games with many hooks that occasionally, when no one expects it, end with a sudden death when 2 survivors got already sacrificed and the others get downed and the occasional clutch moment when one survivor gets up while the last one gets downed, taking the win out of the killers hands, while looking defeat in the eye.
The End.
That is pretty much how I see it going. I'll be honest I'm one of the few who probably won't bother with the unbreakable perk, not to be noble or anything like that, I just don't see the point. If I'm left on the ground, chances are I've spent time crawling off and recovering, no different than what I'd usually do when slugged, only this time I may well get myself up before a team member finds me.....unless one of them tries to heal me while they're being chased (seriously stop doing that, we crawl AWAY for a reason.
The positive I see, from my side of the game, is fewer games where I'm slugged and used as bait or bled out for the hell of it. I do think that killers that maybe had to rely on slugging should be looked at for more viable means to get their kills, and I'm usually neutral or at least somewhat balanced when it comes to killer tactics, but I'll be honest, I'm really not sorry to see the tactic made more difficult to accomplish a 4k.
And if they roll it back, I'll do what I usually do and crawl away, forcing the killer to follow AWAY from my teammates to keep an eye on me, forget me long enough to get healed or get nervous enough to hook me.

Man, I love coming to the forums after an update announcement and seeing in how many ways the '"sky is falling" this time.
I'm neutral on the whole thing, mostly because I've given up caring. Changes are made so much that it's pointless relying on any aspect of the game being the same as it was a few months ago, so I just roll with the punches and adapt as I can. I will say that it does seem that behavior has buffed, nerfed, and band-aided themselves into a corner, trying to satisfy two sides who will never be satisfied as long as they perceive the other side as having too much of an advantage.
-
I get what you are saying about the carrying around but....isn't slendermans whole shtick just appearing with a staticy jump scare? Survivors have a perk which is useful for something.
Some Killers: NERF IT! SO OP, I CAN NOT HANDLE IT. SURVIVOR HAVE VALUE FROM IT, THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPEN.
This.
Quite fed up of being told to adapt, doing so, then watching people still declare everything inconvenient to their in game imperative as 'OP'.
I'm thankful for the reasonable minds that can point out the obvious from the killer side, but its getting exhausting trying to keep track of which goal post some people want moved next.

Yeah, I think a lot of survivors have trained themselves to observe a little while on the hook. Most killers will do a sort of quick search around the area and take a second or two to pick their next destination. If I see a killer heading away very quickly and they aren't heading directly for a team mate in the distance (BBQ) I'm immediately suspicious of Devour and will actively keep an eye out for a totem since I know how bad a match can go when that thing hits full stack. The second someone goes down on an insta, I drop what I'm doing and go hunt.

I think the only thing that still scares me is scratched Myers or a playful insidious Bubba. You can't really retain the fear when you have played against killers numerous times. Killers that I recognize to be playing pretty damn good, do put me a little more on edge, but most of my anxiety these days stems from avoiding three gens and wondering whether my generator is going to randomly blow up in my face lol. This doesn't diminish the game for me in any way since I'm still playing 4 years later.
