Wow. You need to calm the hell down and stop being so disrespectful to other people. If you read my previous replies to another person I literally said that camping and tunnelling happens to me often as a soloQ survivor. I'm sorry that your games have been awful, but don't be an ######### to other people because of it.

Likewise. I wont be like this when you also stop being so condescending and belittling others (not me, others in this thread)

    Works both ways pal.

I'm adding all the extra stuff. Otherwise having invulnerable survivors running around able to play unhindered would end the game in 5 minutes and the killer would never get a kill.

The killer can still down them. Thet takes 30 minimum seconds away for a start. Then healing is another 20 seconds, if they even can heal.

Whats the difference between this and what it is now when you dont tunnel a survivor? Oh yeah...nothing. Its literally a failsafe to protect against tunnelling. That survivor is doing the actions another would be doing, except that 2nd survivor isnt doing those actions because theyre in a chase.

You're adding the extra stuff to make it seem unviable. Its not. You just want to argue because as someone else said, you CLEARLY have a bias in all this. And if you think i have a bias, go read my old posts where i am complaining about survivors.

I play both sides, and its quite evident you do not.

That's the nature of PvP games. Been that way since PvP began. It's competitive in nature and "winning" is important.

What winning constitutes in dbd is very subjective. Some people may think a 20k BP game is winning regardless of kills. Other think 2 kills is winning regardless of BP. Still others may require 4 kills to call it a win and will accept no less.

    Very subjective.

I personally call it a win if I get 2 kills and hook the survivors at least once.

Thats not how it works on other PVP games i play. I dont know any other pvp games i play that rewards this type of play. None others reward ruining anothers experience to the point they cannot do anything about it.

Get camped in a shooting game? You respawn elsewhere

Get camped/focused in an MMO? When you respawn, there are various entrances to go out and avoid the camper.

Get camped in dbd? Pray the others on your team find the balls to help you, if not, bye, enjoy your 800 bp

You sound stressed about it. Calm down like I said it's just a damn game. Continually getting killed over and over with no winning / good games ever literally never happens in this game so stop being dramatic and sensationalist.

Ahhh another one who doesnt experience it so feels the need to belittle the ones its happening to.

6 games today, 5 of those games had a camper, a tunneller or both.

2 of those games i survived.

The only game i remotely had fun on...the non camper, non tunneller where i was first to die.

    5 games yesterday, all 5 camper/tunnellers. Survived 0.

It doesnt happen to you, thus cant happen to anyone else. The prime argument of an ignorant, entitled person

  • @Draxlore said:

I only play solo que survivor when I play survivor.

I get camped and tunneled. It's part of the game. It has made me better at chases, looping, flashlights, pallets, ect...

Getting mad at the killer for doing his part in the game is not going to make me a better survivor.

You're in the minority of survivors who think that. And that doesnt make you right.

Im not mad at the killer for it. It irritates me that im nowhere near a great killer yet i dont need to do this crap to get a 4k. Others are intent on it and it spoils the game for others. Then killers come here and cry about the swf's who bully them. It goes back and forth and both sides need to be addressed. Camping and tunnelling are the biggest issues though as they have a greater effect. Killers can still earn BP if they dont tunnel and camp. Survivors who are tunnelled and camped cant do much except pray the others on their team are good enough. And in most cases in lower ranks, they are not.

I usually get angrier at the fact people i stick my neck out for dont bother to even try and save me. Other survs. But the problem starts with the fact they arent saving me through fear because the killer could do the exact same to them.

So how do you solve that? Round up every surv on the game and tell them this this and this or...just make tunnelling and camping less rewarding?

  • @Draxlore said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3222277#Comment_3222277

So the last person that is unhooked is invulnerable for 120 secs. That means they can't run, can't do gens, can't heal, can't do or take any actions to benefit their team either to include take hits for teamates.

I never said they couldnt do actions? I just said they couldnt be picked up. So idk where you are getting all that from.

  • @rysm said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3222309#Comment_3222309

Well tbh anyone can do whatever they want in any of their games lol again it's just a video game 😂 I personally prefer to get bloodpoints rather than standing teabagging but there we go. Again to my previous point if I was the killer and you started teabagging and clicking then i'd probably target the hell out of you lol (whether its successful or not is another thing because i'm "less skilled" than you in that scenario)

I would probably suggest you turn the heat down a little bit. It's coming across as you getting very very worked up about a game...

So tell me if you paid money for a video game, and the AI continually killed you over and over everytime you respawned you'd give that game a good review and say it was worth your money?

This "people can play how they want" argument is the dumbest thing ever. Maybe i want to play the game how i want to play and not have to deal with small wanged morons thinking getting a 4k in a game is the most important thing since they first found out what lubriderm was.

  • @Draxlore said:

All survivors are part of a team...whether they are in voice or not.

Not all survivors play as a team though unless in swf. Which is kinda important when you're playing a video game that revolves around team work.

I haven't seen any posts about swfs...or Gen rushing....yet there's plenty of posts from survivors whining about tunneling.

Keep whining about tunneling....make it more amusing for me.

Probably because since the update its harder to gen rush and much easier to tunnel and camp? But does that not cross your mind,

Before the update, this forum was awash with gen rushing posts.

That's a large flaw in most peoples arguments, SWF vs solo Q. They're two totally different things you can't even compare them really. What is balanced for a SWF is downright unplayable for solo Q.

This, and i have stated this multiple times. The game is balanced around killers and 4 man groups. Everyone else is forgotten about.

  • @Draxlore said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3222250#Comment_3222250

That's your choice. Stop acting like a snowflake and let people play however they want within the rules.

Learn to counter and maybe you'll be less whiny on the forums.

    Learn to counter.

Tell that to solo survs who know when they do counter, they are at risk of everyone else abandoning them on hook and thus they do it themselves. Tell that to the 2 man groups who when one is hooked, the other tries to save and the other 2 survs do nothing.

You act like everyone on the surv team are 4 man swfs on comms. They're not.

For most solo survs, if you "learn to counter" you are the one dying while the others get out. Thus your MMR goes down while theres go up, then you start thinking #########'s the point in countering, i may aswell play everyman for themself and hope i get the hatch.

That is 100% false I win atleast 4 out of 10 games with a 4k and I never tunnel players because I understand the frustration behind running around with a kick me sign on my back the entire games and it blows. It really does. Getting tunneled and camped at 4 gens and leaving the game with only 4000-5000 BP in my opinion after being in a 4 minute queue is a waste of time

Yep, same, and i would very happily stream my games to prove it. I dont even play fast killers (nurse, blight etc). I play Nemesis, Doctor, Freddy, Pinhead. And out of 20 id say 8-9 end in a 4k, 6 end in a 3k, 3-4 end in a 2k 1-2 end in a 1K and 1 ends in 0 kills.

Only time i can be accused of camping is when 2-3 of the other survs are directly running at me, but ill still hit them or the saver and avoid the one unhooked. If i feel ive downed someone who has been hooked unfairly, i will usually give them hatch to say sorry

I also dont bully killers. I dont constantly blind them for no reason. I dont teabag, i dont follow them saboing hooks. If the chance is there i will, but i wont do it just cause i can.

And what a shock, i still manage to get 4k's at almost 50% of the time. And anyone who says they get 4k's constantly is just flat out lying.

tunneling is boring yea but you can atleast run perks to kinda prevent it... Camping on the other hand is pretty bruh. There isn't really anything you can do i mean yes Camaraderie works but thats about it

So to prevent it, we have to run meta perks.

Wasnt the whole point of the last big update to stop meta perks being meta?

mhm but on the other hand the devs "fixed camping" the thing they did was make camping more viable literally

Pretty much this. I posted about face camping a while ago and got told LOL REASSURANCE IS COMING. Yeah. Really sorted it didnt it. I said at the time it would solve nothing. 30 seconds extra is nothing to someone who wants to camp.

  • @MrPeanutbutter said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/349789/tunnelling-ruin-the-game

My opinion on this is that killers should play however they want within the rules. Tunneling can be a good strategy. Against good survivors, winning by hooking everyone equally is not possible. Try playing killer sometime and you’ll understand

I do play killer, more than survivor in fact and, i just dont agree. But im in the minority it seems that i play the game for fun, and not to boost my ego by "winning" If i get 10 hooks and 2 people get out, i consider that playing extremely well. The devs always used to say the game was balanced around 2 survivors escaping with an average of 10 hooks, and thats just fine.

Who decided killing 4 survivors was a win? Why can a survivor do nothing all game but sit in a corner then get out the hatch and that be considered a win?

I cant understand how people think its okay for a lobby to at times be longer than an actual game for some people who are tunnelled. Some lobbys take 5, 6, 7 minutes. Games where you are tunnelled with no other survs helping can take 3-4 minutes. But tunnelling is a good strategy.

  • I agree with all points and have seen/suggested/endorsed each one over the years when i have seen them posted.

My personal own ideas for tunnelling and camping are more drastic because it happens so often to me now its just killing the game for me. I play because my friend plays and thats it.

1 - Make it so the last person who was hooked cannot be picked up for 120 seconds after being unhooked. Can still be downed but just cant be picked up. If the killer stands around slugging then thats 3 gens that can be done in that time. Added on the time it takes for the chase, it just would not be worth it for killers to do this to get a "win". The only value to this is toxicity. Which wot be erradicated. If someone plays to be toxic then they will be toxic no matter what.

I also like your idea of collision detection being turned off for it. It would stop survivors abusing

2 - For camping, If the killer is within 16-24M of a hook, action speed is doubled for each survivor on a gen. Only 5-10 seconds after the person has been hooked of course.

Killers should also be rewarded for going after different survivors and as you stated, a base kit dying light would be good. Its not powerfully game changing and it addresses a problem so many killers have been complaining about for years. Also, more BP/bonus BP for freshly hooked survivors.

I dont like the fact survivors can get so many uses out of flashlights or toolboxes either. The bully squads who spend all game following killers around saboing hooks and blinding makes killer horrible sometimes. Would suggest hooks take longer to sabo the more you do, and after 3/4/5 blinds then the killer is immune to being blinded.

Like i said, all of these are quite extreme, however for me its gotten to that point now where the milder approaches havent worked and the game is losing more and more players and not gaining as many new players to replace them. Compared to 8th october 2021 this game has almost half the playerbase currently playing. And in the 5 years i've been playing i have never encounted it so much. I posted not long ago about the amount of face campers and got told im making it up and people claiming they never see camping, only to come back everyday since and see a new topic about camping and tunnelling every single day.

  • @SOULWARRIOR71K said:

At some point people just have to accept that for both sides, focusing on your objective is the most effective way to win. Wanna win as killer? Focus your first 4 hooks on two survivors. Wanna win as survivor? Crank those first 3 gens out in the first 2 minutes and then watch as the killer is forced to proxy camp to get pressure back. This is the game we play. Unless each sides’s objective changes, this is the way it will always be. Base kit perks will not change this.

Funny thing is, i've never seen camping and tunnelling this bad and i've been playing since Freddy first came out.

The devs always used to say and usually killers were happy that 2 kills = a win. Its meant to be balanced that way apparently. Maybe times have changed. But now all i see is people say "i want to win" and a win for killer equates to a 4k apparently.

I always saw a win as getting the most BP. Couldnt care less who survived. This game used to be about the thrill of the hunt/chase. Now its an ego inflation contest over who is left standing.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3221919#Comment_3221919

Sorry but you're the one with an argument with no merit. @Crowman is correct. I do see solo survivors taking hits for one another; it's one of the skills you learn to get out of low MMR (which is where what you're describing as solo behaviour happens).

As well, your argument about not needing a perk is non-sensical. Why do Killers need gen slowdown perks? Shouldn't they be able to run varied perks to enjoy the game? That's the equivalent of what you're arguing.

I do think the delta between strategy and counter needs to be examined but don't dismiss strategies that actually work.

You do. I do not. But you are right. It happens at lower MMR. However, that doesnt meant everyone seems to want to get out of mmr. I take hits for those being tunnelled, so does my friend, yer we are still in lower MMR because of it.

And yes, i have actually stated over the years on this forum that killers shouldnt feel like they have to run gen slowdown perks. So you're taking this point a bit out of context. We are talking about tunnelling, which i have stated, should not need every surv to run anti tunnelling perks. Because thats what this discussion is about.

Likewise, Killers shouldnt have to take gen slowdown perks. It does suck the fun out of it and makes 95% of the perks pointless. For BOTH sides.

Back to the argument without merit, once again i do, and it is you who do not because you are basing your argument on your own experience which happens to be the better experience. The point of your argument seems to be "everyone in low mmr should know taking hits gets you out of low MMR and into higher MMR" In reality, its me and my friend taking the hits, dying, and those who hide and do nothing all game managing to get out the hatch or exit gate. Resulting in MMR loss for those who tried to do stuff in the game and an MMR gain for those who did sod all. This happens all too often until me and my friend get sick of it and just stop bothering taking hits and low and behold, we survive.

This game is balanced around two sets of players. Killers and 4 man swf. If you are a solo surv, 2 man or even a 3 man, you are running a huge risk because of who is on your team. The vast majority at lower MMR's are solo survs who will screw you over to survive while not being able to last longer than 15 seconds in a chase, then killing themselves on hook.

No one should be punished for wanting to play the game as opposed to just sitting on a gen and pressing space every now and then while a killer is sat there doing nothing stood next to someone hooked.

I woud rather have 100 games where i die but die fairly, have fun chases and play the game as the vast majority used to have fun playing it than survive 10 games against a killer who camps everyone else.

  • Tunnelling would soon stop if there was some buff to the person unhooked that they could not be picked up by the killer for 120 seconds after getting off the hook. Down them by all means, but it'd be a waste of time and then show true toxicity instead of wanting to win. The killer then has to slug that one player if he wants to kill them that badly all the while allowing others to get in a position to flashlight save or get in a position for a possible pallet stun.

I know id not bother with that. Killers tunnel and camp because its the easiest solution. They dont care about being good at the game. They want to feel their egos and penis's getting bigger at the thought of getting a 4k making them good at the game.

Playing both sides though i know how disgusting it is to be on the end of a 4 man swf bully squad. Thats not fun either. But both sides seem to have an entitelemtn. Both want to play how they want and not give a crap about how the other players are enjoying the game. But i've had countless friends get sick and tired of being bullied or camped/tunnelled so they put this game down and aint touched it since.

  • @Crowman said:

There's nothing unfair about tunneling. The only goal the killer has is to kill survivors and focusing out a survivor early is just the best path to victory.

You have teammates who can take hits and try to get pressure off of you, you have perks like BT, OTR, and DS to aid against tunneling, and you can always waste a killer's time in chase.

Thats assuming people are running those perks

Thats a really crappy argument. You have to waste perk spaces to protect against tunnelling. Shouldnt you be using the 100 options of perks to increase your enjoyment of the game? Then killers whinge and cry about survs using the same perks over and over. Well if there wasnt so much tunnelling and camping, maybe they wouldnt need to?

You are also basing this on playing in a 4 man. Most solo/2 & 2 games you do not have team mates taking hits for you or going out of their way to save/take hits. Half of the time you are left on hook until phase two anyway.

    Your argument has no merit

  • @Thusly_Boned said:

No one is getting facecamped and/or tunneled every single game. It's a non-starter for a discussion. Maybe if it happens a few times in a row and you decide to use that as your entire sample, but that's not really being intellectually honest.

I've played a lot of survivor since the patch dropped (at least 200 matches, conservatively, probably more in the 300+ range), and was hard camped/tunneled or witnessed it in maybe 10% (that being generous) of those matches. Full on facecamping until dead? Maybe two or three times. Not any more or less than I saw before, really.

Not obviously that's my anecdotal experience and experiences vary, but the idea that people are out there getting camped/tunneled in all or even most of their games strains credulity.

When people say it is happening "all the time" one of two things is happening here, I think:

    1. People are just straight up lying/exaggerating for effect/attention
    2. People have very broad definitions of what camping and tunneling are

Now that's off my chest, when it is happening, why is it happening?

    1. Noob killers who feel the need cling to each potential kill because they have no confidence in being able to get others
    2. As mentioned above, those who don't engage with the community at large often don't realize it's considered poor form
    3. In the case of tunneling, it's obviously the most effective strategy and they don't know (or care) that it is frowned upon

But in a few weeks camping (especially basement camping) is gonna take a major hit, so if you feel like a constant victim of it, take heart.

Right let me be clearer. I never stated i was getting face camped/tunnelled every single game. I do state this in my post. But im seeing it every single game now. Thus it is a starter for discussion, and as you have chosen to discus it, you also must think its a topic for discussion.

But if you have only witnessed it 10% of the time, then you must be very very lucky, or for some reason im being put into an MMR rating with endless campers.

Once again, this is not happening to ME in every game. But i am witnessing it, EVERY GAME where no one has dc'd barring some exceptions. And even people being camped on hook are disconnecting.

My definition of camping, or in my case face camping, is when the killer is standing a few yards from the hook and not moving. Camping is patrolling a small area around the hook.

    In response to why

1 - Some of these killers had 2-4k hours on the game. Nurses that could down people extremely easily are an example from tonight.

2 - I agree, except the majority are killers with 2-4k hours as stated above. If i looked at their steam profile and saw under 300 hours, i wouldnt care. But these are experienced players. I myself have 2.5k hours on the game.

3 - I dont care about tunnelling, it happens and i am good enough to loop long enough for another 1-2-3 gens to get done and/or take hits and go down for the person being tunnelled.

Yes ive heard about the new perk coming out but that requires others to run it. Unless there is something else i havent heard of?

It matters not. Tunneling is the survivor strategy and the killer strategy too.

If you want to win you tunnel your objective.

Tunnelling is not the issue for me. Its the face camping. Have you read what ive said? The title even states it

  • Exaggerating wouldnt make me uninstall the game. Been playing for 5 years on and off and its been sat on my HDD that whole time until today.

You havent even read what im asking or the replies to some people. So ill just choose to ignore whatever you reply with. Like you should have done with me :)

It's the same reason why players in fighting games camp in a corner of the screen with projectiles. It's easy to pick up and inexperienced players fall for the antics and the camper ultimately wins

The campers arent winning though. I run kindred so i know when to save and when not. And honestly, most of these games im escaping because of that. It doesnt mean its right, Its not enjoyable, its downright boring and its annoying for the poor guy who got downed first.

Most of these games im talking about the killer got 1/2 kills at most. Very rarely are they getting a 3-4 kill. I probably should have mentioned that. But thats why im wondering #########? Why is getting one and maybe two kills so vital to people who are obviously just out there to ruin peoples games.

  • Tbh yeah you're right. Im just too stupid to think oh hey, this new patch will buff people and make them not need to camp.

I should have remembered people on here are mostly incels who need to feel good about 1 thing in their life for a split second before the misery sets in again.

  • @DBDVulture said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/340973/why-is-every-single-killer-face-camping-at-5-gens-now

    "But at 4/5 gens left?"

I assume every game is against the best 4 players in the world on voice coms. I won't give an inch at the start. Why? If you do you set yourself up for failure later because you played nice.

Play hard and control the game and you can ease up later.

Even if you see survivors leaving the lobby being replaced by one other? That happens a lot with me. I play with one other on surv lately and 30-50% of the time someone will join and leave because they think we're all solo i assume. But that doesnt stop the killers. They still face camp.

I can understand your point because its happened to me a lot as killer. Having the 4 man swf on comms being utterly sweaty, clicking flashlights constantly and being annoying. But most arent like that, in my experience as killer anyway.

  • Indeed it is. Its a shame this isnt the case with me isnt it. I last posted here what, 1...2 years ago. Why would i bother coming back on here just to exaggerate?

  • @AnchorTea said:

Because believe it or not a big crowd of Dbd players don't roam the forums or social media communities where game etiquette gets shared around a lot. You'd be surprised how many killers unironically prioritize facecamping and tunneling just to win. Or survivors who rely on staying hidden and going for hatch escapes. The issue isnt the players but the game design.

No i get that, im not new, i know camping has been around for a very long time. Ive never noticed it as bad as it is now.

My rant aside, id still like it answered by people on here who do it or see no issue with it. I accept its a game strat tbh, but as a former killer main who played 1-2 killer games per day until now, i legit do not understand peoples mind sets to this.

The issue is as much the player as it is the design.

  • @legacycolt said:

In my matches, it’s leather face players that facecamp from the start. This is why I try not to be the first person to be found.

Aye im seeing that a lot. But the last 5 games today, 2 were a nurse (why camp with her?!?) one a plague. One oni and One Bubba. Every bubbah lately has insidious though.

  • @Mr_K said:

The funny thing is that people complain about Deathslinger and then talk about those loops. I think they should stay as long as you can mindgame at them with Ghostface, Pig and Wraith. Maybe the key to those loops is that they should unsafe.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2555905#Comment_2555905

I had two interesting games yesterday with Cenobite that showed just what you said: He is fine. Survivors have to learn how to play against him.

The first game was against bad survivors. They let the chain hunt trigger every time and then went for the box only to summon me while standing at a corner of the map. I downed the summoner every time and it resulted in only one guy escaping, the only good survivor that looped me for quit some time, dodged my chains like a pro and then fund hatch.

The second game was against some good survivor, a 2-2 lobby. They took the box, they waited a while and then solved it. Almost every time I spawned with a wall between me and the survivor, leading to a bad chase for me. After a while I no longer ported and kept chasing my current victim. They all escaped with me reaching 5 hooks at the end.

Cenobite has clear counters and clear strenghs. Finaly a Killer you can play without having to rely on Ruin/Undying to get some slowdown. Even with Hoarder he is not that oppressive. Most survivors will loop you for some time even while holding the Box unless you have that one add-on where they are Exhausted.

Maybe chains should not interrupt you while solving the box, everthing else is fine in my opinion.

100% what you said. Hes very easy to counter, just the majority on here dont want to learn anything, they just want it all to be easy and cookie cutter. Anything remotely interesting they want gone.

Pinhead is a really well designed killer who is fun to play, and very easy to go against. Hes mid to low tier, and still people cry.

What? Every Pinhead I've ever encountered with that build chases the box. There's no other reason to run that build. Yeah, I'll just pick it up out of Hoarder range on The Game or Midwich.

Being interrupted by a chain every two seconds is the unfun part.

The game is pinheads worst map. Never ever seen him get a kill on that map when im playing survivor, and when i play pinhead, i get 1-2 kills at most.

Its counterable. Just because you dont know how to counter it is your own problem.

Do you genuinely think it's fun for survivors to constantly deal with a chain hunt? Honestly ask yourself that question. Something can be fun for one side but unhealthy overall.

Do you think its fun for pinhead mains to constantly play break-a-pallet-simulator because any survivor with a brain knows to drop early, position and then theres sod all the Pinhead can do?

  • @feechima said:

I find Pinhead annoying to go against for the same reason I hated going against Blights when he first came out. 90% of the players are using the same hoarder/Franklins build and the chain hunt is constant. On larger maps it is a pain to get to the box in time so having it in your possession (and the killer usually has duration add ons that make it slower to solve) is almost impossible before someone is hooked. On smaller maps Pinhead runs into his box even when you are not holding it and the chain hunt begins.

Then I hear there are people that play him so much they know where the lament configuration spawns right off the bat. Haven't seen this yet, but that sounds like a nightmare too. When people first played Pinhead they would teleport constantly, now they don't teleport because hoarder tells them you've picked up the box and they just interrupt you solving it, pick it up, chain hunt and down you because 50 million chains keep spawning. The constant need to break chains is the most annoying thing I have ever faced in this game and I've played it off and on for over three years. Don't get me wrong, its good tactics, but tedious and boring as all get out.

Also, playing solo and even with a two man, I have found my teammates don't want to pick up the box so I end up taking aggro even while injured. There can literally be a full health person running around during chain hunt like their behind is on fire and the rest is catching.

The problem is, most are using the same builds and addons because he is a weak killer, and is new. People want to play him, but they want to play him so they dont get destroyed. That build makes him feel strong enough to get a 4k.

With MMR aswell, its made people want to win a lot more. Minimum 1 out of 3 games now when im survivor has a killer using an iri addon and the other 2/3 games they're using strong addons now. I dont see people running yellow addons much anymore. People want to win, people want to play a new character and be viable.

The chains may be annoying to deal with, but they are weak and easy to counter. Would you still hate it as basekit if he hit you with a chain and it injured you and then downed you?

I get what you are trying to say about Pinhead countering my personal playstyle, but I can't agree with this being 'totally a you problem'.

First of all, you can't hear his terror radius when you have the box, so how am I supposed to know whether he's close or far? Secondly, I do position myself behind walls before trying to solve the box, which is exactly why I can't see where he's coming from sometimes. If I'm standing in a jungle gym, he could be anywhere. And I am still of the opinion chains shouldn't continue to spawn while solving the box, because that's straight up impossible.

Part of your post also explains how easy he is to deal with in SWF. I play solely solo queue, so there's that. A killer that focuses on 1v4 rather than on 1v1 is always going to be easy to beat when you can communicate and coordinate with your team, which is literally not how the game is supposed to be played, but that's another discussion entirely.

As a final note, all of these things might be counterable and playing the killer myself might teach me how to do that better. However, being able to counter it does not make it fun to play against. He's the most infuriating killer ever released into this game.

If you were for example, positioned by the pallet in a jungle gym, then you should never have trouble with his spawn. The easy way to counter him is to drop pallets early tbh, and at pallets whether is by the shack, a gym or even in the open, should always allow you to see where he is coming from. If you cannot see him past a wall, drop the pallet and allow yourself some time to escape while giving yourself a barrier. Sorry but this is a you problem. I play Pinhead as killer everyday and i haven't had someone who had trouble with my teleports for around a month now. You need to improve your situational awareness.

What would be your solution to holding the box then? Because if chains didnt spawn while holding it, that player could hold the box hostage for the rest of the game, negating Pinhead of any real power. His chain projectile is not good enough as a power as a trade off to totally wipe out his power. How many other killers can have their power totally taken away from them to the point it will make them severely weak? It also isnt straight up impossible. Once again, you find a good position to do the box, far away from the killer and around objects that can block the chains. Its not that difficult to figure out.

The infuriating killer debate is your own experience, i personally find him extremely easy and a bore to play against. I find Blight, Nurse, Nemesis and Hag infuriating and annoying. Does it mean i want any of them changed? No. It means i recognise they are my weakness and i need to get better against them.

  • @Ghoste said:

Totally sympathize with you. Pinhead can be quite unfun in solo queue. He kinda requires coordination to properly counter his power. It sucks because I think he could use a buff to compete with the better Killers, but that would only worsen the solo experience.

He badly needs a buff to compete. Against a team of 3 swfs or seperate 2/2 groups hes poor. Very poor. Against a full solo queue he destroys them.

But even in solo i rarely get killed by him, i mean the basic was to avoid him killing you is early pallet dropping. Do that and he will either give up on you or commit so much everyone else can do gens very quickly.

  • @Gylfie said:

And for some reason, I appear to be in the minority. I've taken to the internet many times, trying to find people who shared my opinion, perhaps find some advice on how to deal with him, but I mostly seem to find people saying he's fun to play against, 'weaker than Clown' and 'piss easy to beat'. In fact, I've even seen people call for multiple buffs.

I don't get it. I really don't. I can't seem to win a single game against this guy and every time I go against him it's a miserable experience. As soon as the chain hunt has begun, aside from the fact that it's very annoying, you can't really do anything anymore. You have to solve the box.

My problem with that is that he can either teleport to you while doing so or be close enough to interrupt you with a regular M2 to down you and trigger a chain hunt on the entire team. When he teleports to me, I never know exactly where he's going to be coming from, which often results in him getting a free hit. This means if I'm already injured, there's no way I'm touching that box.

In the few complaint posts I've found, I've seen people say that all you have to do is hold onto the box and solve it when he's carrying someone or when he's mid chase. Does simply holding the box stop the chains from spawning all the time? If not, what are you supposed to do in the meantime?

As for an example of why I think he's super frustrating to play against, in the game I just played, I finally found his Ruin and started cleansing it. The person carrying the box went down at around the 90% mark and it interrupted my cleanse. I tried cleansing it after that but the constant chains spawning prevented me from doing so and alerted the killer to my position. After a solid thirty seconds of me trying to cleanse that totem, he found and downed me and I let myself die on hook. I typically don't do this but it was my second Pinhead game in a row and I just reached my limit.

I'm really hoping I'm missing something obvious, some trick perhaps, that will make my experience with this killer less miserable. I'm looking for advice. Anything. Please help.

Pinhead is extremely addon dependant. Ive only ever lost to him when hes using engineers fang and impaling wire and mostly when i was queueing solo. His other addons are strong but not OP or game breaking for me and thus they can be countered easily. The iri lament config if solo isnt always easy to deal with but 4/5 times at least 3 members of the team will still get out for me.

In an swf, hes a pure joke. Ive never died to him in an swf of 3 people minimum.

The chain hunt can be annoying but its also fairly easy to avoid. And any good survivor who is up against Pinhead who isnt using the iri config will know as and when to go grab the box. Especially a SWF. My swf teams never have issues with chain hunts because of coordination and who goes to get it.

If he is close to you when you have the box, then you run as far away from him as possible. Thats what we do, and thats what most survs do that play against me. Trying to open the box while his terror radius is heard is silly. Position yourself behind walls so he cant chain you and it takes time to reach you to hit you. Im sorry but this is totally a you problem here. Teleporting to you isnt an issue either, as i said, hide behind walls and pallets and you should get away easily enough. He doesnt spawn on top of you and you have a second to run before he appears. If you dont know where hs coming from, move your camera around? I dont know what to suggest here, it just sounds like poor play and is a total non issue.

Holding the box stops chain hunts and the timer, but the longer you hold onto it, chains will spawn on you, however these are not that annoying, its kind of a trade off.

The whole ruin topic is just how it is. When the person with the box is found/downed then it interrupts what you are doing with the 3 chains. Its his slowdown mechanic and quite frankly, its pisspoor as the chains are so easily broken. The fact you were doing ruin is just unlucky, but again this shows poor play from you. Instead of waiting and then finding the box, you preffered to stay on the ruin for the BP instead of coming back to it when it was safe. Thats what its all about. You find the box, solve it, and it creates a safe time for you to do gens and totems.

The majority of issues you have seem to be entirely tied to you and your playstyle. You are not adapting your style to the killer, which is what so many survs moan about. They seem to want every killer to be the same and easy to figure out. Learn from what you're doing, if its not working, change your style. Maybe play Pinhead as a killer because thats how you truely learn how to survive killers, by watching others survive you and adapting methods they use to escape you into your own game.

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

I mean why shouldn't they aim for 50/50 balanced matches pretty much

Because the game is already in favour of the coordinated 80%. 50/50 at low to mid ranks is fine but theres no consideration for higher ranks in which Killers get activly bullied by swf's and the dynamic shifts. It should be the killer being feared, not the 4 man troll squads.

Yeah, that 1 extra hook likely means an extra chase, maybe more hits, mindgames, outplays, nice hits/baits all of which is fun and entertaining.

Dont get me wrong getting kills is cool but kills isnt a fun determination, if had games where I have got a 4k, but it wasnt fun especially how I was forced to play to get it (dont usually 4k as I always give hatch but some challenges/adepts require it)

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2542357#Comment_2542357

Indeed but I'd say hooks show more than kills especially on a more common basis. As for your % I'd say it depends on the skill level you're saying, as killer likely do better low/mid than higher ranks. A 65% at a high level sounds interesting. Usually if I'm against a really solid team I say 6hooks is a win especially as weaker killers so I'd like that little bit more to try boost to that 7/8hooks if possible. Kills are meh

This. The reason i look for that early first kill is to put more pressure on other survivors as early as possible. If im having a game where im doing that already, im perfectly happy for 8 hooks and 0 kills and more than that is a bonus for me. But people do see kills as a win. This is what annoys me about the 2K2E argument.

The majority of killers want at least a 3K. The majority of survivors think if you didnt get a 4k then you lost and they won. Half of those survivors will salt you post game for being bad and not getting a 4k.

But no. 2K2E is balance. Makes zero sense.

What I don't understand is BHVR actually give you the ability to play at any skill level you want to play at. If you want to play for fun, then you can play for fun and SBMMR will balance the game around you?

In principal this is how it should work. However im currently just messing around on killer (pinhead) playing for fun, and if anything, the games are getting harder. I

Im even tracking the games, maps, hooks, survivors etc in a spreadsheet and for 44 games now, where someone didnt disconnect, ive managed one 4k. Im just getting 0-1K without tunnelling & without camping. Had about or 8 with a 3K and 4 with a 2k. 21 with a 1k and 10 with a 0K

Im not trying to lower my MMR, i just got so bored of trying to sweat it out and play for fun now. Hitting chains very often and looking for the box more than i used to. Today in my 4 games, i got nothing but pure sweat swf groups. The lowest hours combined was 7K and thats with 1 who played on PS/XBOX.

So even when you play for fun, MMR doesnt seem to be balancing things, least not for me. And quite frankly, its not fun, even when you're playing for fun, to have almost every game be a breaking pallet simulator because everyone throws pallets so early against Pinhead.

Im not understanding MMR on this game. It doesnt work like it does on other games for me. For me its, either play full sweat, get annoyed by constantly being put on the Game, Thompsons house or Haddonfield, tunnel and camp and get walked all over, or play for fun, dont care about what happens, and still get walked all over to be salted and called names post game.

Boon totems get survivors off gens and looking for totems, those things they try to ignore as much as possible. Seriously, the devs keep adding reasons for survivors to give a crap about totems, and yet every killer match I see a whole bunch of obvious, untouched totems. I see untouched chests. Survivors don't want to get off the generators. Maybe, maybe boon totems will be enticing enough to get survivors off gens, slowing down the match. Maybe survivors will put on their boon totems and Small Game or Detective's Hunch, leaving fewer slots for things like DH and UB.

There have been so many complaints that the meta is for survivors to ignore healing and focus on gens. If survivors aren't healing, gens go quicker. If survivors are searching the map for a totem, setting up their little medical area, and then running back there to heal, gens go slower.

Either BHVR adds new things to entice survivors to do something other than gens, or we all just accept that matches will be short and uneventful as gens fly.

As much as I don't like the idea of something new I have to deal with as killer, having to snuff the things out (like killers don't have enough crap to do and keep track of), I like DbD trying out new stuff. The game is so stale at this point, and boon totems won't be enough to change that, but maybe they'll be fun to meme with for awhile. There's nothing in my current build I'm willing to get rid of to regularly use boon totems, though.

Do they though? I mean ive been on the ptb playing survivor and theres just no difference. Survs dont seem to activly be looking for a totem, especially when all 4 are running boon totems. It seems more like if one of us come across the totem, we bless it. Otherwise were sticking to gens. You really dont need small game for them. They're not difficult to find between 4 people. They wasnt even difficult to find when me and a friend took the boon perks off and left it to our other 2 friends.

In all my matches theres been 2 boon totems up within 30 seconds of the game starting. When the killer snuffs it out, the survivors just go back to that same totem cause they know where it is.

On the surface what you say is true, it should make survs look, but for me every game was just do it as we come across and there was never a match we didnt have 2 boons up within 30 - 45 seconds. In which games before that me and my friends played, we still did totems anyway so were not wasting a huge amount of time. And the 14 seconds we do waste to rebless a totem is saved by the amount of healing time we save when near the boon totem.

Boon totems in the current state are not a time wasting device.

Survivors rush gens and bring DS/BT/UB/DH (etc) to counter tunnelling, camping, slugging and regression perks.

Killers tunnel, camp, slug and bring regression perks to counter gen rushing.

It's a vicious cycle where in high MMR, both sides need the most powerful perks to just stand a chance, creating a stale meta. No one will deviate from the meta, because you'll be punished. No DS? Tunnelled out in 2 minutes. No ruin? Gens are all done in 4 minutes.

It's pretty sad, high MMR DBD is crazily unbalanced, thankfully its mostly a casual playerbase.

Sadly im not seeing much of the casual playerbase. I know its there, but i just dont see it anymore. Even with ruin now it can still be a gen rush because a lot of SWF's at least one member will run counterforce and itll be gone in no time at all. And usually my hex's are in places out in the open or tucked away far away from more than 1 gen so protecting that means i never see 5 other gens anyway.

At the beggining i thought Kindred should be basekit also, and that it could help with camptunnel.

And it's a chance. But I just noticed that on tournaments (where everybody plays optimal and they have "communication kindred", killer still proxy camp tunnel and the other guys focus on repair.

So it made me think that camp tunnel is the most powerful strat in game for killer. That's why they use it although is not fun.

So the real solution is making it less effective and giving killers a good strat that encourage them to distribute hooks. Other idea I had is modify efficiency of survs repairing generators. (4 survs remaining - 90 % speed, 3 surv - 115 % speed progression, 2 survs - 140 %).

In conclussion, although kindred would be a good addition for solo q, I think it wouldn't finish with the current meta of gen rush vs tunnel.

Oh no dont get me wrong, i just think kindred should be baseline. Nothing to do with gen rushing or meta. It would just help the solo survivor who plays at a bit of a disadvantage. I used to play solo, i dont anymore, and i know how annoying it can be because i have no communication. Nothing more annoying than running over to unhook for ages only for someone else to get there as i do. Wastes so much time whereas with kindred or in a group that wouldnt happen.

I will be more concerned if the boon perks are released just like in the ptb without serious tweak downs. The 28 m radius its insane, it should be 10 at most. 28m its absolutely broken.

I played surv on the PTB with friends and yes, it can be a nightmare for them. I didnt go down once, and most just ran to a boon they knew had the no scratch mark totem up. The healing around the other boon is extremely fast its not even funny. Though we was having fun, me and a friend (who is very survivor biased) said to each other this HAS to be nerfed cause the healing is far too quick. Either that or make it so the boon totems cant be lit again after the first.

Don't know what is with mmr good or bad. But one thing is certeain every single 5k+ ssurv is toxic as hell. If they die they swear everything to you, if they win they again swear. One thing is for sure for swf too many safe pallets...

Yeah thats my experience too. Even when they mess up and make a mistake, its everyone elses fault but theirs. And they stay after the match for 15 minutes even when solo just to cry and insult. Yet if they get out then they also just spend ages in the lobby gloating and calling you bad. And yes, im glad you agree theres far too many safe pallets. Far too many.

@Astrian I think you can give it up now pal. We have a differeing opinion, one that many here and in other threads share with me so its great you have such amazing games with your super skill. This meta game encourages gen rush and tunnel unfortunetely. Most powerfull strat is the less funny strat (bad game design). Most of the people would prefer be more focused on chases. Even some killers just refuse to use tunnel intentionally although they know is always the best strat. I try to evade it as killer and only use it if I´m in trouble so I can get pressure back.

So as u say, devs should slow down surv scapes, punish camp tunnel, and reward chases (BBQ basekit, increased movement speed for killer when not in chase, DS basekit only working until EGC,....). Idk, something like that.

Ive tried to avoid tunnelling but its just becoming more and more necessary. Which is also why i understand why killers do it. Its just very unfun on both sides.

I agree with the changes apart from BBQ and DS. Maybe they were just bad picks though. I believe Kindred should be Baseline, whether SWF or solo. Even when im a killer i get annoyed at survs who dont try and save (and thats when im not camping). BBQ and DS are just too strong of a perk to have baseline.

Also if im that bad, then surely SBMM should be moving me down to match players with my "bad" skill set.

It is, you're playing with people constantly getting tunneled yes?

I'm not, I would say I'm at a pretty high skillbracket considering all my teammates with a few rare exceptions are great.

They don't get tunneled, when the killer attempts it they usually have borrowed or know how to get out of that situation. Can loop decently well. Killers perform well as well, it's generally a good time. Only time I got camped/tunneled repeatedly was when SBMM first started... which was when everybody was at the same or similar mmr... and... get the picture?

You're playing with people constantly "genrushing?"

I'm not, and I also play with corrupt intervention often on Trickster and Huntress. I never have this problem of not being able to find anybody or getting genrushed because I actually know how to apply pressure to gens. Everybody gets injured, I drop chases when they aren't advantageous for me. I just play the game well.

Too many safe pallets? Why are you taking chases in the safe pallets then? Go somewhere else, let them be in safe pallet land and go kill the people outside of it. It's a shockingly simple solution to a shockingly simple problem.

Your purple rank before MMR doesn't mean anything. Anybody in red ranks can tell you that solo survivor was hell because the worst of DBD got into those ranks just by playing the game without actually being decent in it.

The only reason you think I'm trolling is because I'm not pampering you or fitting into your sphere of pity. You are bad and are getting paired with equally bad players. End of story.

That "bad" comment was in reference to killer games. Im still facing survs with 5k+ hours each game, in 3-4 man groups who know how to loop extremely well. Nothing changes. Over 100 games since SBMM.

Survivor side doesnt make much sense either. Everyone is being tunnelled, and i can still survive most games because i can loop. And because i can loop, my friends do the gens. So you've not read/understood what i said at all.

And if you check back over the past 2-3 weeks on this forum you will find over 100 replies to similar topics in which they state yes, killers are tunnelling everyone and anyone now. Even killers are admitting it. I come here every day so for you to just say im bad because you saw my post today but not the 100s of others, well, you can live in your own world there.

Good for you that you're not being tunnelled. Many others are. Everyone ive spoken to on my friends list and in discord servers have also stated the increase in killer tunnelling. So i guess you're a lucky one.

I used to play with corrupt intervention pre SBMM. It was useless for me. almost every game survivors just hid until the 2 minutes were up. Sometimes i found, sometimes i didnt. But thats the risk with CI. If survs are just gonna hide for the 2 minutes, you can risk not patrolling the open gens, but they're usually in VC so if they hear/see me where they're hiding, they can tell their team and they popped out to do the open gens.

Too many safe pallets indicates theres TOO MANY SAFE PALLETS. So your solution is. Start a chase, if they go to a safe pallet, drop the chase, start another. Doesnt account for the survivors who are experienced and straight away run to the nearest safe pallet. Seriously, everything you are trying to discredit from me can be discredited from you. You're talking as if you're playing against bots yet you say you're a high rank MMR? Isnt adding up as you dont seem to understand how experienced 4 stack survivors with VC work against you.

I wasnt purple rank before MMR. This again is you reading something and not understanding. I was consistently red rank, usually rank 1 or 2. Im saying i would class myself as a purple rank, if that system was still around because i dont think im good enough for red ranks, but i know im better than green. Its not hard to understand but you have gone out of your way to misread and not understand anything just to forumlate a really stupid argument .

The others didnt pamper me and they dont agree with me. Yet i didnt call them trolls. You offer nothing constructive. The others who replied to this topic did. Whether i agree or not, they still were constructive. Your first reply was pure stupidity, and your second while trying to be constructive is filled with solutions that are either easily countered, ive already done and were countered, or just pure nonsense.

Most of what i've said Nototzdarva has echoed in previous videos/streams. I suppose hes just bad aswell?

You get tunneled because you're the weakest link

You get genrushed because you don't know how to apply pressure to gens

    In conclusion, you're bad.

Its not me thats getting tunneled. Its everyone. First to be hooked gets tunnelled. 9/10 that isnt me. So nice try

I never had a problem applying pressure to gens before SBMM....Once again. Nice try.

In conclusion, try harder to troll, maybe think it through next time.

Also if im that bad, then surely SBMM should be moving me down to match players with my "bad" skill set.

Can't agree with you here. I appreciate your perspectives, but a lot of this is just personal experiences you've had while playing the game.

The fact is that you'll face different playstyles against different players, but to generalize that all SWF's are high MMR or all killers will tunnel/camp is an over-exaggeration.

Sure it's a way to play that is not fun for survivors, and killers do occasionally have completely valid reasons to want to do so, BUT, this does not happen every game.

One unique thing about DBD is that every match will be slightly different in one way or more. So, to be honest it just seems like you've had rough luck in your matches.

I personally think DBD is currently in a much better state than it was in June and July, around when the Resident Evil chapter released. Yeah, the game still has tons of performance issues, but the game is getting a bit better in that regard. Around June/July/August, however, the game was unplayable on console.

These personal experiences are also happening to a LOT of other players. Thats why i even made this thread. Because of what ive seen other people say. I mean there are people on page 1 right now complaining about the same things (especially with SBMM) But they're just personal experiences....

And the uniqueness that you're talking about well, im just not seeing it. 95% of games are the same. I get put with survs with combined hours of 15-25k and i run around the map either being bullied or just waste my time. Gens get done in a few minutes. I dont get put against people at my level after getting 6 kills in 15 games. Thats not unique pal, thats the same old crap every game. I wouldnt mind so much if i saw something different, but i dont, and many others dont either.

I'm sorry but PvP games are and will be always stressful. U can't just come into PvP and ask other side to wait until u get enough fun. It's either they beat u or u beat them, unless u are matched with killer/survivors u can dance around and end up with farming BP.

As for MMR I'm not sure how exactly much kills u need (3 or 4) to rise your MMR, but for survivors escape counts as win, so basic goals are most important.

If u still have some warm feelings about game, don't bother about MMR and ranking, play survivor with your friends. Playing survivor is more chill and less stressful than playing killer. There is no hurry and until killer kills 2 of u, its u who pressure killer not otherwise.

Yes PVP games will be stressful, however ive been playing this game since Freddy came out which is...November 2017? Ive never been this stressed. Ive never been this irritated. Ive never had a 13 game run where i got 6 kills out of a possible 60.

Ive never had to deal with this much tunnelling and camping. Ive gotten the odd one, im not saying it never existed, it did, but nowhere near as much as virtually every single game. You're not understanding what im saying at all to be quite honest.

Playing survivor is less stressful yes, but its not more fun when your friends are being tunnelled so much that they rage quit and then you're back to playing alone. So thank you for the advice, but quite frankly, its easy to sit there and say that but you're not experiencing the utter frustration of it.

Killers camp tunnel because survivors genrush.

Survivors genrush to punish tunneling camping killers.

You can't break out of this circle unless bhvr does 2 things AT THE SAME TIME:

    1) Increase time to escape (with second objective)

    2) heavily punish tunneling and camping to make it not viable anymore.

Both things have to happen at the same time to not mess with the other side. The likelihood of both things to happen by its own is already super low. Both things happening at the same time in perfect balance is never going to happen I'm afraid.

Agreed. They will never both happen. I'd be all for an early game collapse as they spoke about but my faith in BHVR has waned so much i doubt they'd impliment it correctly.

Tunnel & Gen rush is 2 ways road. But for me its Tunnel causing the Gen rush in the start.

When Killer makes mistake early & Survivors are winning:

Often they leave the last Gen and start to toy with Killer (as Trapper main with no slowdown, I have these alot). Sometimes 2 hooks into 4k.

Killer can have end game build Noed, BW, No way out, Remember me, Rancor.

When Survivors make mistake early & Killer is winning:

    3-4k

Its understandable for Survivors rush Gen really hard, they dont know if their team mate makes early mistake, or/and Killer will tunnel them.

I barely care about Gen when I play Killer, because I have Noed back me up. But soon Boon come into the game...

If i tunnel or camp its because 2-3 gens have popped very quickly. When playing survivor, because im in an swf one is always gonna be going for a save if they're camping because we're friends and we prefer that to being sweaty enough to just want to survive. But its just frustrating and makes us not want to play.

I dont play with noed either. I dont like it as a survivor so i dont play with it as a killer. What sucks is that it does feel like killers are being forced to play the ways i hate them playing when im a survivor.
