I don't play Billy but isn't Overheat already basically not-existant? Hopefully he gets more than -just- getting rid of overheat.

Billy's overheat is non existent because people don't play Billy the same way anymore (you cant). Here look at gameplay from Fungoose on Billy https://youtu.be/eWG_Yl2yx38 (ok the video wasnt the best example but people used to chainsaw a lot more and i mean aaaa lloooooottttttt more)

DS is ######### perk and Off to record is useless. Every killer tunneling right now. Especially Blight, Chucky and P100 skull merchant players. I decided tunnel too and i won %80 of my games

at the end of the day this is how the game is. Tunneling is basically the ONLY thing you cant reliably counter. There is NO counter play to tunneling. (unless the whole team runs anti tunneling perks and are somewhat decent at the game) its a cheap way for killers to get a quick and easy win. I think the devs should bring back old DS (not the oldest one but before the last nerf) so there is somewhat of a fear. I mean a 3sec stun is nothing i play blight and nurse, when I get DSd i catch the survivors instantly probably 99% of the time. Its literally a waste of a perk slot.

BHVR can't nerf SWFs , so they are fine to boost kill-rates with solo survivors.

I played only like 10 hours for my last 2 weeks because whenever i touch killer, it's not challange. And playing solo survivor is unfun.

And my friends are not playing DbD sadly , most of them left this game. Most of survivor nerfs are doing nothing to SWF while making solo-q even worse.

EXACTLY!!!! this is what I mean I don't have a problem winning when I'm playing with friends ITS ONLY SOLOQ. When they nerf perks like deadhard that makes up for mistakes it affects soloQ way more because a team with 4 randoms are ALWAYS less efficient and makes more mistakes than a SWF. They take the big hit while SWFs gets a tiny slap on the wrist

  • @Quizzy said:

I still see myself playing the game until they themselves decides to discontinue dbd. I have fun. But i dont play on a daily basis. I have a life. And so should streamers. I dont find it healthy if they continue streaming the game for years without a break or playing other games. Nothing wrong with taking a break and coming back later. But thats up to the individual.

The game pretty much has a stable playerbase. And although veterans leave for awhile, new players do come in as well which is the important part. Which is also why they do focus on casual playstyles. Its a drawback for veterans like most of us, but it does help with longevity of the game in the longrun

Yea i've taken breaks since 2017 but i always have that feeling that makes me go back but i just dont get that recently. I used to play it a lot and ive ALWAYS had fun playing it every now and then. Now i dont even have fun when i play a few matches a day (even if i win or not)

  • @Xernoton said:

After 7 years it's only natural that some people will leave the game. Eventually you grow tired of the same gameplay over and over again. That however does not mean that the game is in a bad spot.

There have always been people that claimed that killer is way too easy. It's likely you play against bad survivors, if you genuinely feel that way. Against good survivors, playing killer is still immensely difficult. Half the time it's enough for survivors not to actively throw the match to put up a real challenge. And if they play good on top of it, then you're in for a hard match.

Solo queue has never been great. But honestly I don't think it's that bad. Yes, you get the occasional Self-Care + No Mither guy (or something similar) but other than that, it's fine. You can win against most killers without too much effort because most killers aren't all that good either.

I can partly agree on that but i think the way they are nerfing survivors only really affect soloQ survivors. I mean if i play with friends i win more matches than i lose. So taking away those perks that are cheap but can make up for a mistake is a bad way when the nerfs need to affect people with communication. I mean people playing soloQ will ALWAYS be less efficient and make more mistakes.

I think a good approach would be to minimize the difference between soloQ and SWF and then balance the game from that

Then ask the devs to make more killers as fun to play as wesker, when wesker exists why would I ever want to play twins, sadako, pig or any meme killer that is not only less fun but also your skill wont matter with those characters if you get certain maps/ face people who are sentient.

You cant make a killer fun because people have different opinions regarding whats fun i find twins fun but ooh yea nerf nerf nerf nerf nerf nerf nerf nerf no bug fixes super fun killer to play now.... They dont want perks to have high pick rates bnut killers are fine? All they have to do is make it so you dont face 5 weskers in a row... AS i said the problem isnt wesker the problem is that you face him in a majority of the matches which gets reptetitive and boring to the point where you barley play anymore

  • @fulltonon said:

Yeah, they should rework everyone except wesker!

Wesker himself isnt really a problem its just the fact that you face him 5 times in a row and in 70% of your matches... It gets really boring i would rather face something else so the game isnt that repetitive

Jumping onto a hook the moment you see [Killer You Don't Like] is the same as a DC. It doesn't help your team and it makes the game miserable for the rest. You could at least hop on a gen and try to stealth the game so you never get chased by them. Or think of it as practice! I used to hate Doctor because I could do nothing about him. I still do; but at least I try and avoid the shocks.

im in a 4 man swf most of the time we just suicide but it still takes a lot of time also it wont stop people from just giving up on hook or DCing anyways so...

Wanted to kick off a discussion to find out what each of you finds fun in the role that you play - please feel free to speak about both Killer and Survivor Role if you play both (and if you don't play both, why not?!)

So for example "as a killer I find xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx fun" Please of course give more details!

And if you don't play for fun, what do you play for?

I'd be really interested in hearing people's opinions on this, so thank you in advance for all the replies - I will read them all.

rn not much but meme builds are fun when they work (which is basically never)

Death garden was a whole different game and comparing them this way is useless

Sure survivor got a bunch of nerfs but so did killer. Gen kick meta is gone and PR is hurt a lot

All these changes will do is make the S tier killers much better while the M1’s stay relatively the same if not worse due to the meta adjustments

well i mean DBD is in ruins it went from survivor sided to killer sided (my opinion)

However i never struggled with killer (even when the game was "super survivor sided") playing killer today is basically a guaranteed win... The only matches i lose are matches i troll (like during events hiding in snowmen and stuff like that) I ALMOST NEVER get actualy good survivors and a match i struggle with (yes i do lose some games but its still like a 90% winrate)

The ability to have communication is what is strong. A lot of SWF's don't even communicate information and the game is the equivalent of playing against a team of solo's. In order to actually close the gap between Solo and SWF without giving a pointless powerful buff to Survivors - is by just giving solo's the ability to communicate the same as SWF would do. However Mic's suck between strangers, so a better and more efficient method would be a quick message radial menu like in other asymmetrical games.

Well we dont even really need a radial menu i mean honestly i'd find just seeing when a survivor is on a gen or healing in the HUD as a HUGE IMPROVEMENT. It would let you know if you should go for the unhook, if your teammates are healing or maybe doing nothing.

  • @Blueberry said:

Dc’s don’t necessarily equate to balance problems, it could literally just be entitlement. This is confusing causation with correlation. If anything I think survivor is still way too easy compared to killer at the high level. My killer queues are actually instant myself, so what you’re experiencing may just be your zone.

Yea i know i didnt really say that it was becuase they were unbalanced. But i mean more survivors think nurse is more "unfun" or hard to go against than lets say clown. The one exception is legion i havent played much legion but well when i play against him peopel DC because well i assume they find mending 20 times boring :)

Yea thats what i was wondering if it was my zone and time of the day. Anyways thanks for the answer!

The logic in this community is beyond anything you can believe lmao...

"Queues for the Side that only has1 Player are longer for the Side with 4 Players so there must be an imbalance in Players" ... Yeah sure, well combined Sherlock...

Oh and Survivors are not playing the Game and Quit bcs they lose, so better nerf the Killers that are quite literally getting destroyed in at least decent lobbies... Not even talking about broken SWF xD

This is beyond any reasonal discussion... Nearly everytime a Problem gets adressed, its always "Nerf Killers/Killer Perks"...

    Ridiculous!

well if you played during 2016 - 2021 killer queues were way way faster than survivor.

I didnt say that we should nerf killer because survivors quit... I just asked if people had many DCs. Talking about broken SWFs... Well unfortunately i dont have many SWFs atleast not good ones they avg like 5 6 hours sure but i still miss those 12k hour dudes with the same skin. But i guess we all look on it different i mean i used to play only strong killers and now i dont really do that i do also have a few thousand hours on killer so ^^.

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/358365/killers-op-to-spare-you-time-too-easy-queue-times-dcs

10 minutes sounds like hyperbole. I know that even watching tip top streamers, likely MMR capped, they can find a game in less time than that.

Even playing at the weird hours I do, the longest I've waited is...maybe 4 minutes.

Here's the issue though. It's not a balance thing. It's a psychology thing.

    • Survivors were ridiculously overpowered for years, especially in SWFs.
    • It's only recently that some of the biggest exploits and busted perks (spots on the map where you can't be picked up, pseudo-infinites, DH etc.) have been fixed.
    • BHVR have a history of balancing survivor and killer perks on a different standard.
    • Survivors have always been notoriously BM, to the point that teabagging from the exit gates is more normal than not.

So...yeah. Killers do tend to have a bit of a chip on their shoulders. It's not great, but it sort of is what it is.

Well yes 10 minutes was a little over exaggerating but its still minutes and not seconds we're talking about 2 - 5 minutes. However i had two 10 minutes queues yesterday...

Were surviors ridiculously overpowered? Well i dont really think so. I mean yes if you go back to 2016 - 2019 sure but 2020 2021 was much better. Its way more balanced now the problem i think is lack of communication. If they manage to get the communication right they could even nerf survivors a little more. With communication i dont necessairly mean voice chat it can be as little as seeing when a teammate is on a gen (the HUD) or healing. Something that gives you a rough idea if you should go for the save or anyone else.

Yes its hard to balance because if you buff one thing you might affect every other killer in the game even thos who dont need it yes.

the BM well. I dont see that many teabags. i also miss the clicky clickys becuase it was so fun to ignore them and watch them try their best to get a chase :D. But i'd say that survivors BM more than killer however BMing as a killer is more "toxic" depedning on how you do it i mean teabagging at the exit gate whatever chase them out hitting someone on the hook well... Slugging them for 4 minutes tho thats just a waste fo your and their time

Queue times can be instant or 5 minutes. Really depends on the day and time.

The difficulty of killer is going to be perceived differently for everyone. I think it's crazy easy right now given how loose matchmaking is. But I have 4000+ hrs and comp experience. I wish I could get sweaty SWFs every game because otherwise killer is a snooze fest. It's all relative though. Killer was really hard for me when I had 500 hours.

Yes, people d/c a lot against Nurse. You can pretty much guarantee it if you hit someone within your first 2 blinks of the game. Tip: run away from the killer when the TR is rapidly growing.

    Thanks!

As you said i also think its crazy easy. While the game is more "balanced" now at least on paper i still think that with very strong killers or even mid tier killers and perks that you still won more than you lost (back in the days like 2017 - 2021).

But if you're looking at the weaker killers like bubba, clown and those ones its more fun and enjoyable to play as you dont have to sweat but i would love more SWFs as you said and getting my ass beaten. I mean i still had fun back in the days when i lost and when i won it felt a little more rewarding now its more like "yea whatever"

Well first off i can't give any information from my pov since i haven't played since last December.

But when you start a discussion of this kind and even name a few criteria yourself, why don't you give the necessary information yourself?

Which are: Platform+crossplay on/off, time of day you play and region.

Any discussion about queue times becomes useless without naming those, in my eyes and I have to nag for them EVERY TIME AGAIN.

I thought i made it clear either way i spend 2 - 5min on average in the killer queue when it used to be like 20 sec (unless a new chapter dropped)

i play on utc+1, Europe often between 15 - 20, i also play with crossplay on but i do think almost everyone does so i didnt really think about that (and its on by deafault i think?).

per what mandy and peanut have both said over the past is that camping and tunneling are valid ways to play and they dont want to remove that as an option for people to utilise if they wish but that it does have its pros and cons. they added counters to it, not as a way to "discourage" it per se, that is to prevent it from being used at all but to allow for it to have risks and counterplay. In the same way that aura blocking perks arent meant to discourage the use of aura reading perks but to allow for there to be counterplay to it.

They want to somewhat have other playstyles valid and not have one particular playstyle be the only one people use because of its efficacy.

there were alot of people, particularly new players per the devs that started camping at the start because they didnt know the game yet and it became part of what they knew. basekit bt and bt before it was basekit allowed a way for there to be counterplay to someone who stayed at the hook. so that there will always be a risk to a killer who decides to leave the hook, and one who decides to stay at the hook. in both circumstances the killer has a risk and regard to be weighed. most skilled killers will be able to utilise skill to gain more reward from leaving the hook instead of staying and thus camping is usually going to be lower reward. however it does have genuine value and is a good idea to use sometimes, just like balanced landing has many situations in which it has zero value but it does still have value in its own right.

all that actually matters is that camping and tunneling are not looked at as the only way to play or the number one startegy to use but for everyone to have the ability to use whatever playstyle or tactic is helpful at that time and not get pushed into a single tactic especially ones that become frustrating to those overexposed to it.

Like DH is fine as a tactic, but its frustrating for every survivor and every chase to use it. thats why devs tried to change it to make other things worth choosing too even tho in this case, DH is still heavily used and still kinda annoying. Not because DH exists itself but because of the abundance of usage. same for eruption or every other perk/tactic that is perceived to be used in excess.

also, i can see a basement bubba fun to try out a time or two but its way more fun to use bubba in a more traditional way and i think bubba players who only use camp tactics with him may be utilising a very powerful killer for it but that it remains high risk(all survs need to do is not keep charging a hook that has a bubba camping it and youve got a strong chance to win the game) and you can gain more consistent effectiveness by using him in chase

Yea with valid i meant as "good".

I do play moonsaw flick bubba too dont worry ;)

AS you said with discourage yea but the thing is most players run "anti tunnel" perks while arua countering perks have become way more common than they were its still not that common as its not worth to run aura perks (i think? i usually dont see it when i play survivor and i only use madgrit agi, shadow born and irongrasp on killer so i dont really notice auras :p)

I just watched a Scott Jund video where he talked about what role is easier, where he concluded that killer is easier at the moment, I disagree with this however, and that's really because of one reason:

    It's Dead By Daylight.

The game is just too random, sometimes you can get the sweatiest players known to man, sometimes you face a 12 year old playing on switch with one side of their headphones not working. Combine this with the wide array of killers with different skill ceilings/floors, and you just can't say one side is harder. Tell me with a straight face that looping a Sadako on the game for 2 minutes is harder that playing as that Sadako. You can say that as a whole, most killers are easy to play if you stack gen regression and hardcore tunnel, but you can flip this on it's head by playing in a SWF and just having 2 players bring toolboxes, Built to Last, and Prove Thyself while sticking to gens like flea's while one player Shift W's to every pallet and pre-drops it.

Assuming most of the players are soloQ and i lose like 90% of my soloQs im gonna say killer is easier... I run meme builds and 4k without any problem. Killer has lost its appeal and it has become way easier the only real enjoyment i get is against SWFs where you sure risk losing but it feels rewarding to win. However if we think out of a killer vs SWF perspective i dont think killer is that much easier really...

  • @THEFREAK420 said:

Your exact wording was "strive for". The devs have stated MULTIPLE times over the years that camping and tunneling are valid strategies they dont want to take away from the game as there are cons to both of them regardless of how OP survs try to make them seem.

Survs definitely exaggerate how often these things actually occur as well as attribute (tunneling primarily) often times when it doesnt apply if they DID actually occur every game or every other game like all these people most certainly lie about (as well as facing blight and nurse 50% of their games) then yea addressing it and trying to mitigate it makes absolute sense. facing camping and tunneling every game is annoying just like when the clicky clicks and locker squads were in a huge number of matches. those were addressed due to their frequency being at a level it couldnt be ignored as a infrequent annoyance.

yes, BHVR is looking to addressing these 2 infrequent annoyances because this is all survs whine about on this forum(aside from gen slowdown).

But that does not mean BHVR actually has a problem with those 2 behaviors, its that they want to address what people are complaining about even though its likely very reluctantly as has been many of the changes they eventually did.

So no, obviously BHVR doesnt STRIVE for camping and tunneling in the game to answer your ridiculous question, but they most certainly condone it as a mechanic of the game but have been willing to make certain changes to make it less of a pain in certain circumstance(basekit BT for example being a healthy change)

thanks for answering the question. My english isnt on top since i speak several other languages better but (condone is "looking past something" right?). While they dont really care they do discourage camping since there are perks on both survivor AND killer discouraging that bevhaviour. Camping isnt a valid strat either becuase if you actually face somewhat decent survivors who has an iq above 10 they will do gens and you lose which is pretty sad because its not really the camping i care about its more that they get 4ks because the teammates doesnt know how to play and i mean i play bubba face camps on saturday i almost always 4k... Its a joke no one knows how to counter it when the counter is do the objective :)...

"But that does not mean BHVR actually has a problem with those 2 behaviors, its that they want to address what people are complaining about even though its likely very reluctantly as has been many of the changes they eventually did." As you said i didnt say they do either. They dont really care they do stuff to discourage camping but thats about it. As i said everyone is allowed to play how they want!

  • @InvadeGames said:

if they did, the radius needs to be smaller. basekit kindred at the range its at is too much. leaving hook should be made worthwhile but camping should not be completely discarded as an actual strategy. as basekit kindred would also let all survivors know where the killer is going after leaving the hook which is way too strong of a info perk for it to be activated up to 12 times a game.

Yea but you can always remove that. Assuming the devs know how to write some code which well im not 100% sure they do...

  • @Sycamore said:

Because it would be free information, when the divide between SWF and Solo is the fact they have communication. It would only make SWF stronger, and not close the gap. On top of the fact that survivors already have too much information in the base game, and through perks to begin with. It would be a lot better to add a quick message system with a radial menu, so that solo's can perform the same communication you find in SWF's. Closes the gap without giving too massive of a buff to Survivors who really do not need it.

But once again i dont see how it makes SWF stronger... If they are in communication it doesnt matter they can just say "im going for the save" "im on a gen" or yea well add some sort of simple communication as you say...

  • @Raptorrotas said:

Aura reading is way more precise than "like omg he standing right there fam,". Comms do not magically instantly show you the killers or your teammates position like auras do. That might actually be one of the reasons the devs are so slow/relucant to add some "changes survivors demand to close the comms-gap which are actually stronger than comms".

Lol i remember the times when survivors feigned ignorance or vehemently denied the advantage of comms instead of demaning that advantage to be made basekit.

??? wdym comms do not magically instasntly show you the killer... "killer is shack" there are clock systems... "main building" "diagonal from main building" "at a jungle gym" "TL" "pog log" "harvester" there are tons of callouts you can give that gives you an almost precise idea on where he actually is... Do you really think being able to see teammates is such an insane buff for SWFs?

  • @Sally_S_gay_son said:

As a kindred user I think this perk is too good to be base kit, do not get me wrong it would free one slot in my loadout then but I think this is an overkill because it shows you the killer and your teammates, maybe a nerfed version would work

Yea i mean they could have it so you only saw teammates. and not the killer aura and then have some other "buff" on kindered to make up for it (perhaps 20% unhook speed something minimal that doesnt really make a huge difference but still matters)

Thats why i said we can´t have nice things. ;)

OtR is great when the killer isn´t tunneling. But SWF uses it to body block even when the killer isn´t tunneling. Some people like to weaponize perks and use them in unintended ways.

The devs will probably turn the stun timer for DS back to 5 seconds. Just like they previously did.

Now what i think, the devs really need to implement, is a secondary objective for survivors. Something more than just gens. Having all 5 gens completed in less than 4 minutes just forces killers to play "scummy" by turning the 4vs1 into a 3vs1, which is more manageable. But having more breathing room would allow for better paced matches. Killers still struggle with gen speed, which is reflected in the killer meta. Which still consists of 4 slowdown perks. Until that changes by adding a different objective for survivors, the killers will still play... like they do now.

Yea i'd rather run DS but since its 3 sec well... It doesnt really do much.

The use it to block for others is true. Its hard to make stuff balanced since you cant compare SWF with soloQ as you said. Having friends lets you "abuse"(or well use) perks in ways they arent meant to be used. like taking hits with off the record for other injured teammates

  • @Audiophile said:

I define winning as 3 teammates escaping, whether I die or not. I’d say during peak hours (slightly better matchmaking) my win rate is about 15-20%. Off peak hours its mostly worse, like 10% but then I occasionally get stretches of bad killers which will net a few wins. The game is just horrendous for solo survivors. And killer players just pile on with OP killers, builds, and cheap tactics like camping and tunnelling. They need their 4k to believe they’re good so even if a solo team starts winning they turn up the camping/tunnelling and turn that game around. And of course they will slug the 3rd to find the 4th… Killers are a pretty sad lot mostly.

I totally agree its insane. I have a 90% lose rate (if i were to guess) While i dont want to blame everything on my teammates i still see teammates make really really dumb choices they trade and suicide on hook. Its almost every game too. They hear a nurse = DC, blight = DC, they get camped = DC/suicide, tunneled = DC/suicide, bad map = DC/Suicide... I havent had a single normal game in days with teammates that knows what they are doing. Now everyone makes mistakes im not expecting everyone to play perfect but its due to beginner mistakes that we lose...

With friends on the other hand well i've lost 1 match this month and that was a 2 man out 2 dead... You cant even compare SWF with soloQ its like playing a different game and then we're not even in comms.

Some examples from a few games

for an example there were 3 players alive i looped the killer after all gens was done for a good 40 sec. Plenty of time for them to open and escape i go down and they havent even started on a door that match ended up with 1 escape... When it should easily have been 2. Yesterday or the day before that i had a dwight run around and dropping every single pallet xD

I wouldn´t mind if the basekit BT would give a different "health state" than OtR. But SWF would probably abuse this ad nauseum. Just like they did on the PTB.

Yea well having 3 lives would be kinda busted. What i mean is off the record is pretty much useless if the killer really wants you out because hitting you instantly after an unhook removes off the record thats what i meant :)

  • @TigerSnake said:

I can’t believe we’ve gotten to the point where people are complaining about 3 gens.

It’s a valid strategy that’s been in the game for ages and can snowball a win for the killer. Now everyone’s crying about it and says we should eliminate it. It’s silly.

Survivors hate getting camped/tunneled out cause they don’t feel like it gives them a fair chance to “play the game”, and have said for ages to just “pressure gens” and you won’t have to do that. But then when we finally get some good perks that allow us to “pressure gens”, we’re also not allowed to maintain a 3 gen cause it’s boring too??? Like, what do survivors expect us to do? Get looped for 5 gens so everyone else can complete all the gens in a 5 minute game? The entitlement’s ridiculous.

I do think that Eruption and CoB are a little overtuned atm and need to be toned down to make 3 gens a little less extreme, but come on. In a game where survivors are inherently favored in chases and gens can get done extremely quickly, this is ridiculous. It’s not holding the game hostage to defend gens and delay gens being done as much as possible. God forbid the killer using good strategy and not just mindlessly committing to chases that are away from where gens are being done at.

blah blah valid strategy... I complain about camping mainly because its boring and there isnt really anything the camped survivor can do about it. Its all up to the killer to not camp. A 3 gen is almost always a loss. I get why people complain (mainly soloQ i guess?) But a 3 gen can be avoided. So how do you avoid a 3 gen? They should have played back in the days with 5 blink nurse insta moris etc :D would be fun to see how long they would last

Do the middle gen first (if there is one) when doing a gen run crossmap and do another gen make sure you save alteast 1 gen as far away as possible from the other 2 gens. Best case scenario would be to have 3 gens every far away.

You are not downed instantly. So i´d say OtR does, what its supposed to do.

On a more serious note, we can´t have nice things, because people abuse them on the PTB. Or would you be fine with the fact that killers needed 5 hits to down a single survivor?

Yea but i mean if you run off the record and they hit you instantly you would have had basekit borrowed time anyways... and since off the record is being run more often than DS its pretty much risk free to tunnel that survivor out and risk the whatever 2% chance that he/she runs DS.

Again, they have stated clearly that killers can play however they want and use whatever tactics they want.

    You have no case here.

You're not answering my question they did a patch to try and prevent tunneling and camping do you think they want camping? yes or no Why do you think DS exists? off the record? why do you think devour hope, make your choice requires you to stay AWAY FROM THE HOOK? monstrous shrine?

You're the one talking none sense. You're arguing about a differnet topic not related to the initial post or any of my comments i simply asked do you think the devs want camping yes or no not if the devs care about camping. I know they let everyone play how they want (besides survivors hiding all game (or holding the game hostage) which is bannable and body blocking as killer (holding the game hostage))

What i asked was if anyone else had much slugging. I didnt even talk about camping initially and everything im asking is do you think the devs wants camping? becuase i get what @VillainousTurtles is saying but that doesnt have to do with my question i simply asked do you think the devs want camping in the game? yes or no? not if they care about camping...

Devs have stated multiple times over the years that camping and tunnelling are valid strategies to use. They are staring to address it now because every survivor pretends that every game is camping and tunneling when it occurs in less than 10% of my matches as survivor and i play quite a bit. And i dont think im being placed in special "no camping ques"

i dont care about that you're still ignoring my question... I think its a valid strat my question was do you think they STRIVE FOR CAMPING? My whole steam profile is dedicated to bubba camping LMAO.

The devs want killers to kill the other team, playing however they want to play, using whatever tactics they want, and have stated this quite clearly.

The reality here is that your “camping bad” narrative involves being able to tell yourself that this is not intended gameplay, despite the reality that it is. Dont worry, this is common.

Yes i get that and i also said that i believe everyone can play how they want... You're still not answering the question DO YOU think the DEVS WANTS CAMPING? do you think the strive for camping? its a yes or no question

The devs have never said that they “dont want” valid tactics, they have however provided you with perks to counter each of these valid tactics.

Furthermore, killers dont win every single match. Thats just survivormain propoganda and the devs see thru it.

Well im not gonna argue with you since you apperantly take everything i say seriously. When i asy you i dont mean everyone in the whole world. When i said devs said so themselves i didnt mean SAY physically but they dedicated a whole patch to revamp everything and said they would adress tunneling and camping therefore i dont think its something they want. If your dad say take anything you want when youre lets say buying candy do you take that as him saying "buy the entire store"? ^^

How quickly the narrative that the devs said they want to remove camping and tunneling evaporates under scrutiny, and shocking how quickly the goalposts move to “ok they just gave tools to combat this valid strategy.”

So you think the devs want kilers to camp? thats their main goal understandable...

It’s simple actually, the game is balanced for solo queue, not swf. So when playing against a swf group you aren’t playing a “fair” match. While most wouldn’t call it “cheating” since the devs obviously allow swf since it’s a feature of the game, it by definition is if we want to get technical. Playing against someone’s that’s cheating isn’t fun.

Balanced for soloQ I'd say it's more balanced for a swf than soloQ I win and lose every single soloQ match survivors can't so sh*t and when I play survivors do crazy ######### like dropping wvery pallet for no reason(outside chase and stuff) they DC if they hear a nurse blink at the start xd. When I play against swfs it's atleast a fun match you don't really know how the match will turn out and you have to fight for it, against soloQs well it's like fighting a toddler you don't even have to try...

  • @solarjin1 said:

i usally play 60 matches precisely every month and lose slightly more than I win. (28-32 was my last month)

buttttttt Recently i been finding it almost impossible to win without kinderd. What yall win rate in solo q on average??

I'd say that I lose 80% of my soloQ matches atm. I've had dcs almost every single match... The killers tunnel like crazy so people just give up instead of punishing them for tunneling and camping by at least staying on the hook for the 120 sec(or as long as possible). When I play with friends I win 99% of my matches i have lost like 1 - 2 matches with my friends the past month.... out of god knows how many ^^

Ok said and said but they took drastic changes to prevent it in the big rework patch whatever it was 6.4.0. I still odnr get what you're arguing about "ItS a VaLiD sTrAt" i never said it wasnt i also said everyone can play how they want. But they said the would adress tunneling and camping on the 6.4.0 patch that didn't happen now killers tunnel every match because it's never been a better time to tunnel... Did you play dbd back in 2017 2018 2019 2020? If you tunneled you had a guaranteed DS basically.

I just dont get what you mean with tunneling has never been as unrewarding as it is now or whatever you said. Could you perhaps elaborate?

  • @ByeByeQ said:

Remember most players who are not having fun in DbD will just quit and leave silently. DbD is down 25% of it's player base from this time last year according to Steam Charts.

The last time BHVR released relevant stats it was revealed that over 50% of the survivor player base was SoloQs. With Eruption adversely affecting SoloQs, is Eruption's unfun incapacitation and lack of good counterplay contributing to SoloQs leaving the game, ending DbD sessions early or choosing to play the game less?

In my case the answer is a definitive yes. According to one stat site, over 17% of killers now run Eruption. I run Bond and even seeing a chased survivor's aura doesn't really help me counterplay Eruption. If I know the killer has Eruption and kicked the gen and is chasing an injured survivor I get a bunch of bad choices:

    • I can work on the gen and eat Eruption when the survivor goes down.
    • I can wait for the survivor to go down to work on the gen.
    • I can try to find another gen. (Remember just because a gen is at 0% doesn't mean it can't be affected by Eruption, which is beyond dumb)
    • I can waste time doing something else.

No matter what I do, all the choices are bad and not matter what the killer gets insane value from the perk. There is no good counterplay, and that is why I hate Eruption. It's not fun. Even if I find a dead gen to work on I don't know if I am safe from Eruption. It's extremely frustrating.

The only mildly effective (damage limiting) counterplay I have found for Eruption is that if I am near (within 10 seconds running distance) of Erupted screamers I can go over and stop the gen from regressing while they are incapacitated.

Is Eruption even fun for killers? I hate it so much I refuse to use it. I think killers only use it because it is one of the meta regression perks right now, not because it is fun. Killers who would run Pop and/or Ruin if they weren't dumpstered are now more likely to choose Eruption.

I hate Eruption for the following reasons: (Note none of them are because it's strong or overpowered)

    1. The Incapacitated status effect as a feature of a perk is an awful implementation. The other instances of Incapacitation are caused by killer powers (Victor, Slinger and Huntress' Weighted Head) and in those cases it makes perfect sense since you got shot by something.
    2. It has truly atrocious counterplay without comms. An injured survivor can go down in the next instant or they can loop the killer for a minute you just never know. The killer just always gets too much value vs SoloQs unless they somehow manage to finish the gen before that player goes down.
    3. 25 seconds is just too long. In an ADHD world it's long enough for a person to alt-tab out and forget they're even in a game of DbD.
    4. It affects generators that have full regressed to 0%. If the gen is at 0% then the regression perk has done it's job. It shouldn't be able to kick you in the nuts 80 seconds after you started working on a dead gen as a cherry on top.
    5. Because of #4 the killer is actually encouraged to kick gens with almost no progress knowing that it is definitely worth it. There is no thought required. If a killer has Eruption and a gen has progress they should kick it if they are near and not in a hot pursuit.
    6. Because of #4 it synergizes too well with Call of Brine. CoB takes the gen to 0% quickly but the gen stays bobby-trapped with Eruption.

    Changes I'd like to see:

    1. Make it so if a generator hits 0% it stops being affected by Eruption.
    2. Make it 15 seconds of Incapacitation.
    3. Make it 15% (or even 20%) regression.
    4. If a survivor is incapacitated there should be a way to tell, like they have a different posture.

It would still be a strong meta perk (possibly even stronger) but it wouldn't be so absurdly unfun and frustrating to play against.

Thanks for reading my thesis on Eruption.

Do you disagree? Why? What makes Eruption fun for you?

I'd say it's the one of the strongest perk against soloQ I mean I had a match were we lost because eruption popped on the last gen when it was 99 like 6 times :D... Either way if you play with comms it's easy to call it out and then it becomes useless...

  • @VillainousTurtles said:

Many survivormains use terms like “boring” and “unfun” to describe killers that beat them, with the intent of manipulating the devs into making a change.

Furthermore, valid dev-approved tactics like camping and tunneling are simply a part of the game, and you should be teaching your friend to understand that, instead of trying to turn them into yet another entitled toxic survivormain who whines about valid tactics.

? I said everyone can play how they want. The devs obviously don't want camping and tunneling as they said so themselves... My last point is thst killer isn't fun anymore you win EVERY SINGLE MATCH I play shadowborn bubba(shadow born only sometimes i run agi madgrit and irongrasp too) and the matches are still not even close to being near a loss. Have you even played nurse lately they just DC you can't even play the "good" killers nurse = DC, Twins = DC etc.

  • @Su0T said:

Tunneling happens at least 8/10 of my matches and it sucks big time. It's making the game incredibly boring.

Yea and everyone saying there is no reason to tunnel and its never been less rewarding blah blah... If someone gets unhooked and you hit them instantly off the record doesn't really matter and almost no one uses DS anymore it's literally risk free and in worst case scenario DS is only 3 sec so you can't really get anywhere unless you're close to a loop already... I see way more tunnelers now than i did with old DS people were literally scared of DS now well... one cares anymore

  • @Lost_Boy said:

I wonder what the actual true escape to kill ratio is for solo queue?

If you were to take out SWF data and add in DC's as part of the kill data (because 1 DC basically means a 3-4k in most cases), I would put money on that the kill rate is like way up at 80-85% quite easily.

Solo queue really is in a sorry state at the moment. I would class myself as a killer main that likes to dabble in solo queue from time to time and I honestly feel sorry for anyone that only plays survivor in solo queue. I'm honestly not surprised that the survivor population has significantly decreased.

0% i lose 9 out of 10 soloQs and out of those 10 soloQs there is a dc or insta suicideon hook in 8 out of them... Its horrible you literally have to play as a 4 man SWF if you want to have a game without DCs

  • @KSzerker said:

Why would this "event" cause anyone to play differently? Snowmen are worthless outside of hiding, and hiding in them rarely ever works.

Yea i dont know... Havent seen a single survivor or killer use the snowman the killers tunnel and slug more frequently i mean i havent been slugged in months (slugged as in left to bleed out*) I had it 3 times in 5 matches when the event came out. Coincidence? I think not!

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/357719/super-boring-killers-during-the-event

    A few things:

    • Games with multiple DCs...yeah. Get them done ASAP - although it's a lose/lose for killers. Wipe everyone out ASAP? 'omG swEAtLord gieV us a ccHance'. Give everyone chance to recover? 'OMg TROLL just END'.
    • Focusing one person out of the game ASAP is, sadly, how killer works. Try to 2 hook everyone? You're going to get destroyed and teabagged all the way to the gate.

That all said - yes, there are still campers, sluggers and the rest. But slugging is going to be changed soon, and it's never been less rewarding to tunnel or camp than it is now.

slugging is going to be changed soon? ooh yea by the unbreakable basekit which is a dumb idea... I mean they could fix it by just ending the match instantly without the basekit UB... Or well let the last survivor just have a bleedout button you hold...

the "focusing one person out" isnt really needed... however its much easier. But good thing the devs nerfed DS and made the stun 3 sec so now everyone runs off the record which allows you to just hit someone straight off the hook and now off the record is useless ;)

Yea you can look down on most of them the wheels on gas heaven is super tiny and that one is hard to avoid since you cant really see it and i mean like how long does it take to fix... the cars on lampkin lane was fu**ed too you couldnt throw hatches over them (dont know if that is fixed)

  • @JoaoVanBlizzard said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/357719/super-boring-killers-during-the-event

The problem is not that killers are boring, but the game allows them to be boring, for example: a while ago I recommended that when a survivor was saved from the hook, the killer would take about 5 seconds to know that that survivor was saved, to give him a chance to hide and not be tunneled by the killer

At the time I was very criticized for having this idea, but killers like Nurse, blight, Hag, and demogorgon for example, are killers that can use tunnel even when far from the hook, just hear the signal of someone being saved and he simply goes back to tunnel the surv

Another problem is in relation to the DS, in addition to being nerfed, the skillcheck is very small, since the killers complained so much about the DS, the skillchecks could be bigger, they won't make a difference, also these perks should have other means of acquiring them. las, this game is too "pay to win"

Yea thats the thing... Its fun too because when i do meme bbuilds with meme killers and like secure the 2nd hook stage on someone they cry about camping... But deep down i know that i could play pain res nurse with double recharge and tunnel the crap out of a survivor and win 99% of the matches :D

It is kind of like you said the game allows them to be boring and it favors them so obviously they are gonna do it. At the end of the day everyone can play how they want...

I do exactly that; try to be the fun killer.

I NEVER run full slowdown builds, I never run NOED or annoying stuff like Franklin's or Eruption and I NEVER tunnel off hook or camp yet I win almost every match.

I try to play for fun more so than 'wins' as I no longer care to sweat to win and I wish more people did this as the game would be a lot more fun for both sides.

That being said, there are just some lobbies you are never going to have a fun game with and I try to just move on and not take it out on the next lot therefore perpetually repeating the cycle of toxicity

Yea i had one game with bubba onm eyrie. I hid in a snowman let them do 3 gens ambushed one from above in main building and downed her. managed to get 8 hooks with lightborn, shadoowborn, unrelenting (to get out of the snowman faster ^^) and enduring. Literally a complete meme build with a bottom / mid tier killer on a map thats really sh*t for bubba. Either way they were a 4man swf with a 3 gen head start all pallets left at the end they trashtalked me so hard wrote death threats and #########:p The toxicity is insane survivors cry at endgame & killers slug you for 4 minutes :D
