Welp, I'll say congratulations since it doesn't hurt to offer some encouragement now and then.
I'm still learning to be killer so i tend to do my little dance of joy when i get 2-3 kills.
-
Hah, it looks like piggy is doing her 'I'm a little teapot' impressions
I've had a few bugs like this, i spent two thirds of a game floating around as if i were on a hook, or moving along the floor, crouched as if i were doing a gen. I just kind of go with it, assuming i can stop laughing long enough.
-
You know, as i sit here and look at this thread and every other thread and notice that they all devolve into the same damn arguments over and over and over again, I have to wonder if this game is actually some kind of social experiment that we're all failing at dismally or winning like champions depending on what the desired results are.
Changes are difficult to make when they are surrounded by insults, bias and total lack of desire to see things from other points of view. At this point I'm not standing beside either side because both have equally ridiculous ways of getting their points across bar a few people here and there who consistently try to make people see reason. Nor am I saying toxicity doesn't exist, but when you bring it into the forums, how can anyone take you seriously?
At this point, i think the only person that has a clear idea on the state of play here is dear old Vaas.

We need several game modes. A Casual mode with more forgiving rules, a ranked mode which has stricter rules and a hardcore mode.Sounds pretty damn reasonable.

Ruin is perfectly fine where it is and i say that as a survivor main. Yes its annoying and slows down gens if you aren't exactly on the mark, but a killer is SUPPOSED to make your life difficult. Go on a ruin hunt or practice getting better at the skill checks (i still haven't gotten there yet so no, im not saying 'git gud')
Honestly, if they nerf ruin then they need to nerf flashlights, because i understand they are just as annoying for killers as the ruin is for us.
This is just a personal opinion, which does not mean i am right and you are wrong, but honestly, we need to stop crying for nerfs on anything that makes the game just that little bit more difficult for us and find workarounds. I used to think the hag was overpowered until i discovered the power of simply crouching.
-
I don't play killer often, mostly because I'm bad at it. But when I do, quite a lot of survivors will actually hold the game hostage if i don't go to the gate to greet their little teabag party.
I'm willing to concede when the team has won, and I'll wander off if i suspect the tbag brigade is waiting. Waste your time if you want, because i'll be reading a book or watching tv till you give up..
I had one game where one of the survivors actually took ten minutes to come find me and t-bag. Hope they enjoyed their time on the hook while their team mates ran for it.....

I cannot speak for everyone, but the bottom part of this picture is pretty accurate for me and my friend

-
If you're a toxic survivor team mate, you can bet your bottom I'm going to report you. Funnily enough, it isn't always geared towards killers either. Some survivors feel they have the right to dictate how you can play, lost count of how many nasty messages i get for not hook rushing a clearly camped team mate.
If my friend and i witness more than one dc in a match, nine times out of ten we send the killer an apology on behalf of survivors everywhere and offer up two free kills after a bit of a run around. It's hard being a non toxic survivor and read the forums, because most are too busy yelling and throwing their own abuse at survivors in general, instead of recognising the few that ARE trying to make life less toxic for the killers.
So this post is hugely appreciated OP. -
You know for all that survivors are salty in game (and they are, i am not going to debate that) It amuses me how many killers use these posts to basically throw salt at survivors as a whole, it's beautifully ironic, if a little sad for those of us who are not entitled.
I take my lumps and my mistakes are MY mistakes. Camping and tunnelling are legit strats and i'd prefer if i could throw flashlights instead. As for teabagging..well I'm too old for that #########.
I can't apologise for the a**hats who do act like little 12 year olds whether they win or loose, but i report every single one of them when i see it. I guess I'm pretty much whispering into a tornado, but i just wanted to say that not all of us behave like monkeys, and if you as a killer gave me a run for my money, the only message you'll get from me is a 'great game!' Make of that what you will.

Delete, because apparently double post
-
Whether you have a point on not, insulting everyone who doesn't agree with you just basically makes you entertainment for people on this forum who have seen all this before. As a survivor main i am quite sick of other survivors storming in here, stamping their feet and making the rest of us look like ****!
I personally find camping annoying, but it IS a strategy that OUR side perpetuate with hook camping and other scummy behaviour. Whether it's by not understanding, points farming or just plain trolling, survivors swarm to a camped hook in half the games I play, why the heck WOULDN'T a killer simply stand there and let you come.
Maybe it's not fair the rest of us end up on the wrong end of the camp stick because of other players, but honestly, after looking at this forum and seeing what goes on in games, I'm not surprised that killers get sick of survivor ****.
Adapt or find another game is the only advice i can give you. Being camped? Well take one for the team, wave those hands in the air like you just don't care and wait for the gens to pop. See someone being camped? Don't fall into the trap, do gens, they get less points.
Foot stomping and insults = everyone ignoring the point you are trying to make.

I'd totally be up for the killer being allowed to hide their own totems, some of their placements are so very tragic.
-
On a totally unrelated note...I adore that gif

Until that changes. Until there is some give and take, and not just take take take there can be no rainbows and puppies.I don't think anybody is asking for hugs and puppies, but it would be nice if people could just stop being so savage towards each other. Survivors AND killers. We don't have to agree with each other, we'll always have different views (and no my views aren't always leaning to the survivor side). There is indeed a lot wrong with balance, but there is also something wrong with how communication goes. Someone writes a post and you can guarantee, killer or survivor, someone has a salty comment on hand because throwing insults or vehement blame is just far more tasty than a constructive dialogue for some people.
From what i have seen, survivors and killers have been flinging their *@%$ at each other since the game started, and nothing has changed. Nuff said.
I do my best when it comes to games, i don't do what most killers call toxic, and i'll congratulate a good game whether i win or i lose. Can't fix the whole community, so i guess i'll stick to keeping my corner of it clean.
-
Personally I don't see an issue with it. Sure it might make things frustrating and more difficult for me as a survivor but a) that's why you don't do gens too close together at the start. If i see someone doing a gen at one end of the map, I'll go the other side to get a gen. And b) It's your job to make my life difficult. I have to work around you if in this situation.
Again, 'personal' opinion.
-
Delete because this post ended up in the wrong place.
-
The hag is not easy, but life does become a lot better when you crouch. Gens, doorways, unhooking, being unhooked, assume these things are trapped and crouch. She's going to catch you now and then because some killers are really damn clever with their trap placements, but she's certainly not OP.
When I'm being unhooked, I'm already pressing that crouch button.
-
Ruin is dependent on either not being found (its pretty lit up like most active totems) or the killer camping it, which doesn't really help a killer that cant move fast enough between it and the gens.
It's annoying as heck sometimes but as the suggestions have told you so far, practice will improve your reaction time, as will finding and cleansing that pesky totem.
Huntresses lullaby with 5 tokens scares me more....

If someone calls me out for camping (I don't do it often, but I do on occasion), I always like to point out that it was the most advertised strategy, literally the first one mentioned in the trailers. "So, let me get this right. You're pissed off because I used one of the strategies specifically advertised by the developers? My, what strange logic you have"See, I came to Dbd late, and when i first started it was immensely frustrating to be camped. But as time wore on and i started reading views from both sides, it was pretty easy for me to admit that I was not wrong for being frustrated, but i was wrong for thinking camping shouldn't be allowed.
It's a tactic, sometimes an annoying one, but then, (having played some killer) flashlights and looping are annoying too.
As for getting grabbed at the gate, survivors have 3 choices, get out, move on to another gate or stick around. If you choose number three, then what befalls you is on your own head
-
Oh sigh...this argument again.
Okay so, i used to be like you, i used to hate camping because, yes...it's not much fun to hang around on a hook singing 'all by myself'. But camping is a legit strategy whether you or i like it or not, just as shining a flashlight in a killers face is a legit strategy. Neither side likes it, and both sides are going to fight like cats and dogs till the end of time about it, but it's not going to change because there will always be players who will take advantage of any changes, such as in the attempt to change camping rules.
It might not seem fair to us or them, but these are things that will not change by demanding or getting into pointless little squabbles on the forums.
As far as I'm concerned if a killer is hard core camping me, I'm no longer playing to win for myself but for my team. I will hang onto that hook for as long as i can keep their attention so the others can complete and get out, but then I'm not too concerned about my points or rank, it's all about the fun to me, and i make my own fun while swinging on the hook by having imaginary convos with the killers (yeah im a little weird).
To be perfectly honest my biggest issue with camping is hook farming, but that's a whine for another day.
I get where you are coming from, it's not fun if you are looking to score some points or go up in the ranks, but it's just not something that is going to change, they tried to, and OUR side abused it.

It has come to a point where i give props to non toxic survivors in the aftergame chat if the match and after-match were nice and without BM.Aye, i pretty much do the same, though i usually congratulate a decent killer BECAUSE of toxic survivors. Yeah okay it might be a little mary sue of me, but when you know killers face a ton of salt just for doing their job, it doesn't cost me anything to send a nice message now and then, whether i survive or not.
I guess all i can say to the OP is that we aren't ALL juveniles without the mental capacity to win / lose with some grace.

I don't want to argue with you as a woman. Why? Does being a woman give me exempt status, or is it because i haven't given you room to call me stupid or tell me i don't understand as you have done to everyone else here who does not share the same ideals you do?
Or perhaps it's because I have a valid point.
Also....i could be 36 and still dancing on tables naked while throwing jelly and custard if i wanted to, age has nothing to do with being conservative. It does however allow me to look at the spirit and simply shrug instead of throwing my toys out of the pram because she does not fit my ideals.
-
Oh lord. Not sure whether to laugh or cry here, but instead i shall do my best to be nice even though this kind of stuff just makes my hackles rise.
The simple fact is, if you do not like this character, you do not have to play her. If you don't like the idea of her appearing in your survivor matches....well I'm sad to say this is where your problem hits a brick wall, because it is YOUR problem and you cannot dictate to millions of players who/how/what they should play, you just can't, and that is a fact you need to understand before anybody takes you seriously.
You didn't come to this post with compromise and a willingness to understand anybodies view, you came here with a demand, the equivalent of stomping your food and declaring 'do it now'
And your answer if they don't do it [Insert Cartman voice] screw you guys I'm going home.
I'm not going to argue about how women are presented in video games, it seems to be a circular argument with you, plus I'm a 36 year old woman and I can only grin wearily when the subject comes up before grinning and remembering the days of the 'naked lara cheat, and hot coffee

The current player climate is weighed heavily against you, and that is what will win out at the end of the day, because its not an issue that has any affect on the gameplay itself (unless someone is truly distracted by the jiggle mid skill check!) nor is it an issue that even has an effect on the majority of female players from what i have seen so far, and I've read a lot of these threads.
I can't say your particular beef is ever going to be popular around here, but if you want actual constructive conversation here, don't walk in here with demands, and do not presume to speak for other woman.
(Apologies if that was sprawling, dental pain meds kicking in!)

I've said it before and I shall say it again, as a survivor there is nothing more depressing than seeing eager points monkeys swarming towards a hook when the killer is still standing there. The word 'Altruism' is truly a joke half the time, and quite honestly in 60% of my games i end up feeling ashamed of my team or outright sending an apology to the killer for their incredibly crappy attitudes.
I'm not a fan of outright camping for no other reason than it guarantees a kill, but I'm not going to blast off on a killer because of it, because in most cases camping is fed by the survivors themselves, whether from being a bit stupid or plain greedy. The best i can do is take my lumps and hope the rest of my team take the hint when i wave my arms in the air to say 'go do something useful rather than farm me for points.
I'm sorry that you have to put up with the crappy messages, if it makes you feel any better, i get my own share when i refuse to go racing towards a clearly camped hook, i genuinely am altruistic when it makes sense, but if i know someones being camped, they are going to swing, just as i would expect to if it were me up there.

And by the way, camping would be less of a tactic if people stopped trying to earn points and actually kept doing objects. It would not be so rewarding.Very much agree. In the early games i got hugely annoyed with campers. Then i stopped and looked at what my team mates were doing even as i was screaming "HE'S RIGHT BLOODY THERE...GO DO A GEN!!!"

I would like to thank the killers who carry me to the hatch. You are the best.
Oh yes! I forgot to add that. Only had it happen once. I was the only survivor left. Myself and a huntress played chase around the map for about 15 minutes before she finally caught me, then laboriously carried me over to the hatch. Thank you mystery huntress, i regret hitting the 'spend bloodpoints' button on automatic before sending you a 'great game'
