Nurse - Now you can argue about nurse ignoring mechanics or not, I'm honestly so over that argument. Ever since her nerf, I have found the majority of nurses easy to evade. No, I'm not flexing, I'm a casual, average player at best these days. Once you get used to her sound cues and the limitations of her blinks, add in some sneaky gameplay, and I can usually really make her work for her food. But a well practiced nurse? Oh boy, those players can make the idea of touching a gen or a team mate on a hook bloody terrifying! I rarely see her these days and a good nurse? Pretty much like finding gold amongst the gravel. But on those rare occasions one does turn up, I have the MOST fun, win or lose.
Billy - I have a lot of respect for those Billys that are freaking surgeons with that chainsaw. I've tried playing billy, and honestly, I likened the experience to 'Trying to push a supermarket trolley attached to the back end of a rhino'. Those Billy's take skill, and I'm honestly not even mad when one comes screeching around a corner, perfectly in time to turn me into meat sauce!
Huntress - Some of the hits from this big lass have been legendary. Nothing makes a bum pucker quite so much as the metallic 'TING' of a hatchet as it bounces off a generator mere millimeters from your face. Between close calls and those awkward moments where I was dumb enough and unlucky enough to hide in the wrong locker at the wrong time, I have a lot of love for the bunny amazon.
Honorable mention - Any pig who manages a genuine jumpscare by successfully pretending to be a survivor when you aren't quite paying attention.
-
Just attribute it to a sore loser and leave the chat?
I don't condone this behavior but nor do I understand why people stick around to argue or make posts about it.
You KNOW why they do it. You won, they lost and so they resort to acts of childishness.
It's a player problem that sadly killers will face more than survivors due to the law of averages considering the killer to survivor ratio.
Take your win, ignore the children, and bug out to the next match because NOTHING constructive comes out of arguing or looking for logic when it comes to a sore loser.

My brain honestly cannot comprehend someone getting THAT upset about a video game or about someone's gender identity, to actually engage in a practice that HAS killed people before.
I realize it's because I'm not wired that way and that's a good thing, but it literally fries my ######### mind when I try to imagine the thought process of these absolute butt hats (my insults would be far stronger but you know, censoring bad words is more important than giving us any reassurance that this is being really looked into)
Cheating was bad, DDoSing was worse, but this is now getting out of hand and while I doubt it would be verified if it turns out the rumor of foreknowledge is true, that's it for me. I've already stopped playing until I see some actual action taken, but if it turns out people knew and did nothing and this is the worst of the results of that nothing, yeah I'm done.
I'll reserve judgment for now because I try not to react to rumors without proof, but behavior isn't really doing much to allow players to give them the benefit of the doubt lately, and that's on them.
-
Generally, I'm never really sure if I'm getting hatch unless the killer quite obviously walks right by a hook, then I'll usually stop struggling and see what's happening. Though if I'm not dropped directly on hatch I tend to assume the killer is about to do the 'slam the hatch in your face' move that's popular with some killers and refuse to crawl the difference, on the other hand this is usually countered when the killer takes a few steps away from the hatch to indicate they aren't going to do it. Communication with just gestures can be difficult if all your gestures are literally geared towards "Imma kill you!" lol!

They shouldn't be tossed on the garbage heap but they also need to be looked at and how they work, like someone said a hex can only be destroyed once the totem no longer stands (even says it on the perks) blessing still leaves it standing so if a killer snuffs out that totem why does the hex not come back or the killer can relight that same totem again to bring back the same hex.
There is a few ways the devs could of went with blessing and hexs but they picked one that doesn't go with how both perks say each one is meant to work, if a survivor finds a hex and destroys it no problem they did what the perk says to do to get rid of it blessing it is pretty much bypassing what needs to be done and if you snuff it out they can just rebless the new dull totem that's where the problem is.
See this is a stance that at least views the subject objectively. I mean my stance is still that most people are going to destroy totems anyway rather than bless them so not allowing hex's to be blessed would be fine, I just don't think it will impact things as much as people think it will. I do agree that they should be looked at, but a limitation is all they really need. Thank you for approaching the subject with grace and understanding that 'get rid of the perk' should not be the go to option for this perk.

I’ve never been much of a fan of BBQ to be honest, I tend to like other perks like Thrilling Tremors or Discordance or Surveillance better, and those all have the benefit in the current boon meta of not being as vulnerable to Shadowstep.
I must admit I really got into Surveillance when I played killer. Such a handy perk that isn't always anticipated over the more commonly used perks.

Luckily I get better teammates than before sbmm. I am not always happy with their decisions but at least a lot of them are doing something. I try not to judge them harshly or have prejudices.
But I do disrespect and dislike bm'ing.
It honestly makes me roll my eyes. I'll wait at the gate to take a hit if it's needed, or to grab a couple of heal points but then I'm out the gate whether the killer is there or not. The butt dance and clicky clicky stuff is just juvenile

It is not a problem that the discovered HEX Totem will be destroyed. That's the way it's designed.
The problem is that Boon Totem does not destroy HEX Totem, but overwrites it and then disables it.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2602028#Comment_2602028
Let's have a discussion about NURSE somewhere else, not here.
I believe that they should be adjusted eventually, but if you ask me which one I should prioritize, this one should be adjusted first.
Tbh, i don't use the perk, I'm happy with my set up and boons don't really improve it enough to swap out one of my perks. That being said I still don't get the issue. I mean if people are really upset that despite taking longer to bless than destroy, a boon can be placed on a hex, then sure, advocate for hex totems to not be boonable. I mean even in the 10 games I played to test the perks out, I destroyed hex's rather than bless because I didn't want to spend more time blessing than I would just getting rid of it, and from the sound cues I've been hearing, most boon players are going for the same approach.
At the end of the day, unless your Hex happens to be in a HIGHLY loopable area, it just isn't efficient to bless over destroying. I just don't think adds much to the argument that boons should just be tossed on the garbage heap.
-
Lol, these days a survivor blowing their nose is an incentive to camp. There were counters to BBQ long before shadowstep came into play. If you want to camp then camp, it's not against the rules, but the list of excuses to camp is getting silly now. Just do what you gotta do. You want to defend your hook, go nuts buddy.

It takes longer to bless a hex than to destroy it, that was a change put through from PTB to live. So if a survivor is blessing your hex, congrats, he wasted 14 extra seconds.

Really? I thought they both took 24 seconds. Huh.
-
I don't get why people keep bringing up the fact that survivors can bless a hex totem. If a survivor has found your totem, it's gone. Survivors weren't just leaving hex totems lit when they found them before, and it literally takes the same amount of time to bless a hex as it does to destroy it. So sure, I wouldn't be adverse to people only being able to bless dull totems, but it wouldn't make much difference unless you're planning on running a full hex build.
The perks do need looking at, they do need limitations, but if we start just throwing perks away because they make our roles difficult, you might as well wave bye bye to a good portion of all the perks, since they all do that in some form or another. Looking at changes to perks needs to be done with a bit more thought than "Toss it in the garbage, I don't like it" , on both sides.
-
Good Nurses and Billys always impress me, especially now since they both got done so wrong (seriously never saw anything wrong with either) and it's sad that I rarely get to see a decent one these days. Formula one Billiy's that take corners that honestly deserve a chefs kiss sometimes. I would stop and applaud if i wasn't running away. Nurses that don't waste a blink and make you want to hide behind every tree between yourself and the next gen.
Both took skill to maneuver well, especially on console. I don't remember names but I've met a good few Billys and Nurses that actually raised the old heart rate and pushed me to my limits as a team mate. So I guess I'll thank every good Nurse and Billy who stuck with it even after the nerfs, some of us do value you and the effort it takes to really make those killers scary as hell to face.

Zet0r. Just plays the game. Doesn't bother with us v's them, mostly plays KYF and makes me laugh, not particularly toxic when he plays in public matches. Just a bunch of peeps having fun playing the game.
-
All boons really need is a limitation to their use. The status effects and relighting of Hexes is too much for a 2 second action.
-
Yes. It has a solid counter.
-
Worked fine for me yesterday. Blessed at the start of the game and then moved my bless to another totem. Sorry that's not helpful but if you did that already, it could indicate a bug.
-
Kindred. It won't save you but a good portion of matches it'll either save your team mates wasting their time or give them that exact opening where the killer might be distracted. We can't stop camping, and in some scenarios, i see the tactics in it, but when it becomes an epidemic (played 5 games and 4 of them were campers at the first hook in the match, worse yesterday) you just adapt to it. Run kindred and waste their time. I tend to sacrifice on the hook if it's a stealth player and I see someone coming towards me. I might accept the camp, but I refuse to feed it.
"Why should I have to run a perk to counter it?"
You don't have to, but if it's going to keep happening, its an option, kinda makes me feel less bad about spending my game just hanging out making kissy faces at the killer staring at me on hook.

I do bring a lot of brown items into game, sometimes one heal or a small boost to the last gen is all you need. But sometimes I do stand there in the lobby as the timer ticks down thinking "Oh god, please don't let me get camp/tunnelled for a fricking brown toolbox" I only wonder about franklins if the rest of my team are all carrying items. And even if they do slap on the franklins.... it's a brown item, i have 20 more stacked in Nea's inventory lol
-
I had a lot of admiration for some Billy players. When I tried him, I felt like I was trying to push a fridge in a shopping trolley. And then I'd play some games where the Billy players were taking corners like a formula one car, it was beautiful some of the shots they could make. I had taken a break when he got messed with, and just like nurse, he's one of my faves to verse who i just don't see anymore. :(
-
Meh. I mean it's common sense not to press your luck at basement loops, but some players like to play risky. Personally, if a Bubba takes someone down the basement, they are already dead to me, especially when my kindred confirms they are camping down there, I still see you standing still for the time it takes insidious to work. I personally find the Bubba's that hide somewhere with insidious and scare the crap out of me far more fun, i ain't even mad at that point because jump scares are hilarious, but I suppose I get the appeal of just amusing yourself watching someone swing on a hook because they were dumb enough to go down there with a chainsaw wielding nutter. It's not something i'd do myself because, zzzzzzzzzzzzzz, but that's the thing with gaming, as long as you aren't breaking rules or being abusive in chat, each to their own is my philosophy. What killers do may not seem fun, but I'm pretty sure some things i do aren't much fun for the killer either.
-
Yes. Because screaming and threatening to hold your breath until you get what you want, always gets people to take your opinions seriously.
-
Sure. If they were lit automatically at the start of the match, map-wide, took time for the killer to destroy, and didn't sound like a damn wind tunnel. Otherwise, they would be utterly useless, why would anyone bring two perks into the game only to have them snuffed permanently in a matter of literally 2 seconds?
-
Lol I'd rather play ET on Atari for a week straight.

i mean of course that is easier to say the other side is a bunch of ass.... but i dont think thats the main core issue. i was trying to get a little more deeper than that.
It was a simplified version of what you already stated, my apologies if the message was lost. But the biggest issue IS the lack of empathy. Reasonable arguments are ignored in favour of explaining everything away with childish reasoning or just flat out insults. A lot of people do not play both sides, or at least don't play one as much as the other.
Every survivor Opinion is shoved aside because survivor is the 'easy role' or devs are 'survivor sided'
Every Killer Opinion is disregarded because Killers 'Are crybabies who want auto 4k's' or the devs are 'killer sided'
Everyone is far too busy either blaming each other or insulting each other like its an extension of the game, to ever come to any form of compromise, because 'compromise is weakness'
Balance suggestions are taken to the extremes because half the forums (from both sides) have developed a victim complex, so instead of coming up with ideas that would work fairly for both sides, it becomes a game of 'how do I get mine and screw the other side over' or 'I want what I want regardless of how the other side suffers'
I honestly think a large part of the divide is the way the game is itself. It is ALWAYS going to seem unfair to be the one in a 4 v's 1 game. You are isolated, all the killer mistakes are your own and when you DO get immature bullies, all of it is focused on YOU. It's hard to come up with a solution at that point, because how do you change the dynamic without completely overhauling the game.
If we can't stop classing everything as unfair, toxic or proof of dev allegiance, balance will never be possible and all we get is band aids, over bandaids over old issues that were never properly solved.

It isn't. Survivors don't have a timer whereupon when they reach a certain limit they have to stop and let the killer catch them.

Yo can you throw those survivors my way when I'm playing Leatherface? Thanks.
How about I throw you the idiot team who decided to go investigate the basement when we had already won because the Leatherface clearly didn't want to judge the butt dance Olympics and just wanted to sit down there. All three of them on the basement hook and you can bet my happy butt wasn't going down there to save them.
But yeah, for some reason the face camping is seen as a challenge which I suppose it is. But if you don't have the skill or at least the perks to pull it off you're just feeding the camp.
-
All of them. It's not down to the killer but the player behind them, which is why the same player might then hop onto survivor and do the whole 'teabag clicky clicky look at me' maneuver.
-
I generally sacrifice if my team insists on being lemmings to come save me when my kindred literally shows the killer almost giving me an Eskimo kiss.
If they are a competent team who actually get the job done it's not a big issue, but 9 times out of ten they are basically just throwing themselves on the floor as slugs. If a killer wants to camp me, I'll endure it to allow team mates to do gens. It is not a killers duty to give me a fun game, and if i am camped i will accept it as part of the game, but neither is it my duty to serve as bait for a stealth camp ghostface's mincing machine.

@sniffedpustulas said:
First off, this is an IDEA.
I am not saying that it should be done that way or that it needs a fix at all, I am just posting an IDEA. Maybe it is good, maybe not.
So at the moment the boon perks are pretty strong and don't have any downside. If one in the team runs it, it gives a huge advantage for the team, without any risk and without any counter. The Killer can stomp on it, but that only disables it temporarily. If that one totem is placed well, it can have a significant impact on the game. If two or more in the team are running it, it is even stronger.
In addition to that, there is no limitation. If all four run circle of healing and shadow step, they can nearly cover the whole map with last healing and bbq protection. Especially if the team is aware, that they shouldn't destroy totems.
The killer can, as mentioned, only disable it temporarily.
That way the boon totems are only high reward, but not high risk.
Now I do play both Killer and survivor and I do enjoy the perk on both sides, so I wouldn't nerf it. Instead I would suggest the following:
If a survivor blesses a totem, which is cursed/has a hex, that hex is only disabled. Once the Killer stomps the blessed totem, the hex reactivates (maybe even after a cooldown).
That way the Boon totems have a high reward and a mediocre risk.
You do get fast healing and no scratch marks, but you risk not being able to counter the killer OR having to sacrifice map coverage to counter it.
As an example: We are playing on dead dog saloon. The Killer is a blight and has hex ruin, while one of the survivors has Boon:Shadow Step and maybe Boon:Circle of Healing. The Hex totem is in the Saloon itself. Now the blight or the player has issues using the ability in the Saloon.
Therefore having a Shadowstep Totem there, to quickly lose him would give the survivors a significant advantage. Without the change, they would just bless the Ruin totem and have this advantage and got rid of ruin. But with the change the survivors have to decide wether to bless or destroy the ruin totem.
If they bless it, they do have a big advantage in the saloon, BUT if the blight recognises it, he can get his Ruin back and the survivors have to deal with it again.
If they destroy it, they got rid of his Ruin, but they don't have the advantage at the saloon and can only place the boon outside at the smaller houses, where the blight is much stronger.
This way this totem does have a downside or risk, without nerfing it into the ground and does require a more tactical approach instead of just placing it. Sure it is a very situational thing, but I think it would be a first change and make the game more exciting.
I'll be honest and give you my solo survivor opinion if helps. If you did this nothing would change except that nobody would place boons on a hex totem even if it had an area advantage. As a player, I'd choose the smart option. Destroy the totem and put my boon elsewhere, survivors will not risk giving the killer back their hex in most cases.
Interesting idea, but realistically it wouldn't change much. The boons need a use limitation of some such. But it's nice to see opinions that aren't just "Nuke it from orbit" :)
-
All they need is a limitation. I've seen some ridiculous arguments about it, Like someone suggesting a 2 second snuff should disable potentially 2 perks AND bring back a cleansed hex. Suggestions like these aren't balanced but i don't see a problem with actual balance suggestions.
Increase the bless time each time its used
or
Add a 2 bless limit per match
or
Make it useable only on dull totems
or
Give the boon a timer before it becomes dull again
or
Make the blessing conditional, such as a safe unhook
There are plenty of ways to make the perks still attractive to use without nerfing it so ridiculously that it ends up on the garbage pile with the rest of the perks that were going to 'break the game', just so we can go back to the regularly scheduled whining about the meta never changing.
-
It will continue because both sides have people who will generalize the opposition as inherently evil the minute they pick the opposing side to play and insist on nuclear options to things they don't like instead of reasonable changes that are fair for both sides.
This will never stop, because its easy to say a whole side is a bunch of buttholes and take offence at everything new that gets implemented in the game.

It's definitely killer. I spent 5 games looking for the bloody thing yesterday, only to find out it's killer only. It does say killer glyph challenge, it's just in very small writing which I utterly missed lol
-
Honestly I'd settle for being able to exchange some of the useless items/addons and offerings for BP at a certain stage. Not all of us are item reliant, or want to use map offerings, not to mention the mostly useless hatch offerings. A set amount of BP exchanged for a collective amount of an item would lessen the sting of having to waste nearly two thirds of BP on stuff some of us will NEVER use just to get to what we actually want to use.

The only change I think it needs that's fair is to make It not stack with other healing perks or Medkits
That would be fair, i haven't got an opportunity to see how it works with my fave we'll make it, but I'm betting it's ridiculous.
-
Okay, just completed 10 games using CoH. This is the -honest- review of what actually happens outside of the nuclear 'Everybody's going to come equipped with CoH, Shadow step and maxed medkits' doom train that people seem to be riding.
Most of the time, the game starts as normal, I don't go looking for a totem because that's a waste at the start of the game unless you spawn right next to one, which happened only once in those ten games. Its also a bad idea to have an audio cue in your area at the start of the match imo. Most of the time I found a totem around the time the second or third gen is done because I'm not going to spend precious time hunting one down when megs back on the hook and another team member is running vaults around the hook with the killer on their butt
Half the time when I'm injured or i get someone off the hook, the hook or myself are nowhere near the totem and I'm not gonna run across the map to do what i could do with We'll make it or a med kit, or i waste time running to the boon to heal up.
By the time my boons were found and snuffed, I found myself too busy most of the time, to even bother going to relight it. There were even games where i didn't find a totem, or only found one mid chase and couldn't do jack about it.
There are going to be teams who will make meme builds to screw with killers, but that's nothing different. And yes, i do advocate for either a cooldown or a 2 use limit per match, but as a solo player....solo survivors just don't have the time to constantly be hunting down totems or relighting them, you aren't always in the position to use them, and I've seen killers doing just fine with them in play.
The usual meta hasn't disappeared, in fact only one other person in all those games actually had a boon totem.
The perk could use a limitation, but it has not broken the game.
-
Nurse, I don't know why but I seem to actually 'function' against her when in a chase. I'm not the greatest at chases, which is why I play the support role and take aggro if someone on their death hook is getting chased to even out the hook spread. But for some reason, i am more 'on the ball' when it comes to a chase with the nurse.
Her sound cues help somewhat with this, but honestly, i think it's mainly because she can be scary as frick and it's like someone lit a fire under my butt and I'm paying 'way' more attention to her cues than I do with other killers.
I don't even get mad when a good nurse curb stomps me because they are just amazing to watch, especially if they are on the console which makes her slightly more precise controls a little harder.
Also I just think her design is super cool and miss seeing her around.

Because this community is immensely hostile, toxic, and prone to reading the absolute worst into everything that the company says or does. Not to say no criticism is warranted, just that this community - as a whole - takes it way too far very consistently.
If they say what killers they're looking at, anything that comes out between them saying that and them pushing out changes for that killer will be treated as them lying about looking at those killers. Just as an example.
I have to say, while there are a good few reasons for the community to be irate at the moment, I can't disagree with this. Mention anything that is being worked on and it's taken, ran with and has developed at least 5 conspiracy theory threads detailing how this particular thing makes it clear that the devs are killer/survivor sided, or how this particular perk / power will ruin the game and by the 2nd day there are at least two threads telling us that [insert whatever the devs mention here] is going to kill the game.
Don't get me wrong, part of me would like to see a little more transparency, but on the other hand, why keep sticking out your hand for the 5000th time when it got savaged the other 4999 times?

Clown - I hate the clown's bottles, but I will admit I hate GOOD clown bottles because once you get hit, you are pretty much fricked and if you have a good clown who knows how to cut you off, you are again, fricked. Plus I don' like clowns in general.
Cenobite - This one is odd because I just can't say why I don't like this guy. His mechanic isn't terribly hard to dodge and once you time the puzzle box right that ceases to be an issue (though I think it's crap you can still get chains when picking up the box) and his design is okay I just...don't like him, it's bizarre.
Freddy - For Freddy it's one specific complaint and I know it's a stupid one, but the way they have set up how his lunge -looks- in comparison to how it actually works, makes every lunge he makes look like complete bullpoop. Logically I know it's following the correct procedure for hitting the hitbox and that his lunge is further than it looks, but christ it feels bad to be what -looks- like a safe distance to maybe dodge him, and still end up doing a flip.
However all these issues are on me, there isn't anything inherently wrong with these guys, I just personally don't enjoy playing against them.
