New killers. RPD, Midwich and the reworked Game made me wary of new maps; Eyrie of Crows just makes me dread the idea of any new ones. The new Haddonfield seems fairly good compared to those, but if the anniversary gives us another safe-pallet filled giant map with no grass, buggy collision, every generator on a platform or with wide LOS lines and eight breakable walls you have to break to turn infinites into slightly weaker god loops, I'm going to scream.
New haddo looks brutal. I saw maybe 3-4 good pallets, which would still be pretty unsafe vs the antiloop killers. It looks like you had house of pain and that's it. Deadzones that are gonna make the swamp maps look pale.
Something tells me you are not going to be getting sent there nearly as much (bar someone finding an infinite)
Eyrie of Crows is old Ormond 2.0, probably one of my most lost on maps as killer. So safe and you can frequently have the boons like a 30s+ trip up the stairs to kick so you basically have to leave them up if it's a really close match.

You don't even need to go against SWF teams.
A good team in general can leave most M1 killers in the dust. I don't feel like I can play to have fun or ######### around anymore without feeling like I'm just throwing the match.
Legit, had a game as trapper, where this survivor in the mid game, all they did was run to pallet to pallet, throwing them down, and running to the next one, throwing it down... No looping. No preserving pallets, just holding W.
And then against the strongest killers you need all those pallets to even have a prayer lol, you have to deal with them by predropping because you take a hit almost no matter what if they get close enough; loop or not.
A lot of the older designed pallets are 100% worthless against the latest slew of anti-loop killers. You just go to them to make a final stand more than anything

Like I said, I never played pre rework or pre nerfed freddy so I dont care how strong he was before, its all about now and how he shouldnt even be in the dust like this. You have 1 of the top horror characters of a franchise in your game and you make him play and feel like ######### is unbelievable to me.
He's not that bad. He is still very hard to loop in the dream world, just not ridiculously so anymore. One snare can still shut down a ton of loops, and you can 100% still snarelust people to death.
I will say he takes a good amount of skill to play now, since you really need to place the snares at the exact right moments to actually get hits and downs at loops as opposed to just a pallet drop. Lots of M1 skills required as well. Prenerf you could spam them and it made him the most easy killer in the game to play which is what most people are going to remember.

Played a few matches, got some babies as Leatherface but then some really good ones when I was Fredward. Surprisingly non-toxic considering it was like 3 flashlights or something in that lobby.

And from what I've seen, reworked haddonfield just gonna be another one. Looks Open as #########, every1 gonna spot you putting traps.
Tbh you really play hag if you want to be a trap killer these days. Or you just do basement trapper which is probably the best way to play him anyways. It makes getting a trap actually really impactful instead of just a hook, and they need to be super impactful since you waste so much time setting them up.
I usually run some chase perks on trapper too. I don't think he actually needs bamboozle since you can actually shut down god windows pretty well but Enduring / Brutal are picks I usually have. Sometimes traps don't work out and you gotta run people down as pure M1 and if you don't have any chase perks it could be extremely painful.
The busted trap spots I saw were near the smaller crypt loops outside the main building
-
I have seen a few cheesy spots where you can still glitch the traps into the ground

One bad survivor goes down in 10 seconds, another survivor is seen on Kindred running in circles in Corrupt Intervention, and the killer is a Corrupt/Pain Resonance/DMS/Thana Pinhead with Engineer's Fang. TIME TO GO TO BED
I would not mind it so much if the matchmaking was better. But when it's not, oof. Pain and suffering.
I was playing some no mither in dumpster elo earlier and literally did 3.5 gens while my team did.....I am not sure what tbh. I think they just ran around and died, but that's the survivor experience

I think the soft cap of MMR does more harm than good. A killer who gets rounded down is going to face poor competition relative to their skill, and survivors who get rounded down are going to get poor teammates relative to their skill.
Survivor problems with MMR go a bit deeper though, particularly in solo queue. But they all stem from bad matchmaking. One or two bad survivors often guarantee a 4k, no matter how good the rest of the survivors are. A 2000, 300, even 5000 MMR survivor can not carry bad players unless the killer is genuinely awful. DbD doesn't work in the same way that sports work, where one outstanding player can carry an entire team. I get that the numbers may work for what they think is a balanced match, but it's not good gameplay.
Way too easy for a bad survivor to get tunneled out, you have those games where the killer has 4x slowdown perks and someone is dead at 5 gens, threw every good pallet before they died, and you might as well go to bed cause you are never gonna hold M1 hard enough to make up for it

Because this game suffers from a lack of skill in all areas, so when you nerf every killer that takes skill, you only make the problem worse. If a killer isn't OP, they don't need to be nerfed. These nerfs to a weak killer came in before Leatherface's ability to camp someone to death off one down was even considered for nerfing. No clue where you're going with Snake.

I do, he's pretty relaxing. You gotta sweat at the start but the second you get that basement hook it's chilling time.
Pyramid head is my next runner up, godly chase power and you always gotta be scared of him because he can tunnel people out so easily. You can proxy camp the cages too which is pretty funny.
Both pretty much bypass the meta. Nobody says you gotta run the doggo tier killers, although I do sometimes for kicks if I am bored. Usually I am quickly reminded why I don't play them often though.

I mean, at that point, wouldn't it make sense for the survivor to just move on to another loop, what's stopping the trapper from taking 3 seconds to trap it. We can play what if's all day and that's the issue with discussing this sorta thing is what if's become the topic if anything the counter play to trapper would be hold W, which is already a counter to most Killers. The concept is to buff him to be more of a threat to Survivors, which this does exactly that. Good Survivors wouldn't have trouble adapting; all this does is give him more time he can be going for chases versus wasting time retrapping, which in the current meta sucks. What makes this any different than Billy and Leatherface.
It still would not solve the maps with no grass, which are his biggest weakness. Even the maps with grass many placements are pretty predictable by now, only trapper mains knowing the buggy spots to clip the traps into the ground are probably catching many people by surprise these days.
He's really only good for camping the basement, specifically the shack basements where he can seal people in. Other than that you basically have time to lay down like 2-3 traps and then go chase people as an M1 killer imo. Even with his best addons I barely feel like I have time to set up and playing 3 gen trapper is just meh with CoH being a thing.

Couple things: we don't know how many people are at the softcap. We just know what the softcap was at the time that it was leaked.
Regarding perception of opponent skill: Those things are all relative to your competition. A slightly above average player is going to look like a relative god vs a bad player. That same player will look like a day 1 player against the best players in comp. A killer like Knightlight makes 6k hr players in the final 8 of high profile tournaments look like 500 hr players. It's all relative.
Players are making a ton of assumptions about a system that has zero transparency.
Sure but when I can play an entire night of killer and never lose a game, why would I assume I am at a low MMR? I watched someone go on a 100+ streak with clown like 2 weeks ago, are they low MMR? I would say they are at the cap. I read you only need 20 wins in a row to get to the cap, it's not that difficult to get to.

Yeah, my real problem is mobility, i still try go away and dont do a soft camp. I usually walk until find another survivor. maybe this is my mistake now
Depending on Corrupt, you might have literally nothing better to do than camp. Especially if survivors pop the first gen and deadlock procs while Corrupt is still active. I've had situations where i'm next to all 3 unblocked gens with my first hook and I can just stand there and guard the survivor and my 3 unblocked gens.
Going for new chases is nice but it stops working the better the survivors become. Generally if you can get an early down near a 3 gen, you can secure those gens and attempt to kill the first person downed from 100-0 since Deadlock + NWO will generally make losing some gens for it not a big deal and Trickster can down a single rescuer coming for the save before they can unhook.
If you get someone in the basement as Trickster with that build, you can kill them almost as good as Bubba. If you wanna win I would camp with him, if you want BP then swap targets and go for new chases all the time. But good survivors are probably not going to get 12 hooked by Trickster on a large amount of maps. It just depends on your goals.
-
I like this one quite a bit. Trickster isn't very mobile and is really good at defending hooks so he gets a camping build naturally. I refuse to play him without bamboozle since god windows cuck him pretty hard and he is not mobile enough to drop chases for new ones. Deadlock + NWO lets you comfortably camp if the situation calls for it.
Add-ons are extra blades, and the one that lets you spam at their feet to make it even easier. Trick blades are probably better but I keep it braindead.

Is it not hidden though? What are we basing the assumption on?
Player movement, as well as that it's been proven the soft cap is not that difficult to reach. It's not difficult to tell if the people you are playing against are potato's or good at looping.
Do they mindgame, are they using pallets efficiently, are they splitting up on gens, are they trying the "techs" on you, etc etc
-
P3 claud is always ready to roach it out. Wake up makes camping a door once the entire team is dead a pretty viable option, if you don't have a key for left behind.
The nice part about wake up as opposed to a key is nobody realizes you are a rat until it's too late; and they are dying on the hook as you rotate between lockers in the basement.
It's brutal, but if you wanna survive solo Q it's what must be done.

You keep making arguments that something is impossible when I already pointed you to someone that does it consistently. I'm not the one that needs to show more evidence that it can be done. Either you can watch the videos or you can ignore them.
I don't need to watch someone beating up on solo Q teams. That's not what I am concerned about, you can beat solo Q perkless. I am worried about 4 stacks and that's what I base my opinions off. MMR is jacked to the point where you can still pubstomp 90%+ of your killer games. Especially during primetime when you get whoever has been waiting the longest. And I guess you can make a youtube montage while you are at it?
Let's agree to disagree.
-
Spine chill for survivor. Way too many people run around like headless chickens in solo Q when spine chill gives you all the information you need to already be at a loop ready to go when the killer starts chasing you.

No looping skills required, just drop god pallets and you are golden.

Bloody fingernails should be basekit imo. There is basically no fear when I am sitting right next to a powered TV, because I can be a mile away before she is done coming through it. That and a lowered CD on the TVs, as well as making it be more dangerous to carry a tape would be a good start.
Turning off a TV is super trivial and to date I have yet to be punished for doing it.

I thought that was an interesting perspective, personally.
I think it's more the teabagging and BM instead of what the game tells you. I've gotten 4k entity displeased many times before and you basically just scoff at the game when that happens.

20-30 seconds is a second down. And your assumption the match lasts 4-5 minutes is incorrectly assuming three survivors free most of the time to continue pushing the gens. With good slugging and hooking a single survivor primarily you are forcing them to have at most one person on gens at a time which means you have closer to 7-8 minutes before all the gens would get done assuming you failed to actually get your first kill in that time. And because you’re spending less time hook other survivors and mainly hooking just one survivor you are getting those hooks that you do make more efficiently.
But hey, like I said, you don’t even have to believe me, there’s dozens and dozens of matches on Youtube with multiple killers where this tactic works. If you don’t want to even consider that it can work and continue ignoring it that’s on you.
Then you can go watch this VOD against a 4 stack TTV SWF earlier where they just happen to have boon exponential and they get up like 6+ times because of slugging. It's not like you go kick boons as Plague and by the time you realize it's exponential the game literally could have been over.
-
@dugman said:

I never said “slugging was always a good idea”. I said “always hooking the first down isn’t always a good idea”.
And again, you’re wrong about it not progressing the game in that you are getting into a second chase much more quickly and removing resources from the map in the process and slowing their gen progress in the process. You are giving yourself more time to get the hooks later in the match by slugging earlier is the point.
Well against a good 4 stack you have about ~4-5 minutes to end the game. Slugging the first survivor you down will buy you ~20-30 seconds at most. I am typically using power spike perks on a very short timer (Corrupt, Deadlock) and need to get results for them or lose the game. Slugging the first survivor gets me an unbreakable used (if that), 2 gens done, and 1 hook at the end of my corrupt. As opposed to potentially a half state on someone in the same timeframe.
You are never going to be 12 hooking these teams with the killers I play, you need to get a half state into a death ASAP for any sort of chance to win.
I would do it if the down would literally be handed to me but other than that? I would not.

Lol, again, he slugs with basically all the killers, not just Nurse, and it works against high MMR teams too.
Then that is on the survivors. I slug too when the situation calls for it but it doesn't mean it's always a good idea. I don't think I would ever be slugging survivors straight off the bat, that's not progressing the game for you as the killer at all.
I honestly consider infectious fright a disrespectful perk. It used to be good but not in the days of MMR outside maybe like Nurse and Oni. Infectious assumes the survivors are bad enough to be getting chain slugged in the first place.
-
@dugman said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2896263#Comment_2896263
You’re absolutely 100% wrong about slugging not working if you do it as I described. If you want to see slugging working at high MMR I recommend watching RedsGamingGears, he consistently wins against meta build survivors using that tactic.
Also regarding hook trades, I gave Bubba as the goto example of an instant down killer than can deny hook trades, hypothetically other killers can tinker out instant down builds that could work but those are obviously less common. Most killers without instant down can’t deny a hook trade outright though.
I don't need to. Slugging the first survivor you down? That must be a blight/nurse thing, and I don't play those killers often. Against a really good 4 stack you are gonna have to fight for every down, it's not like you slap on infectious and just roll through entire teams these days unless the survivors are hella boosted.
Here's an example loadout of the god squad SWF I watch for a stream.
You wanna tell me how much slugging is going to buy you there, if you can even slug?
Just cause some guy can go slug solo Q survivors with Nurse or something doesn't mean it's relevant to me.
-
Seconding this, at least as killer. The ggwps are practically BM as killer since you only get them when you lose. If you win as killer it's a ghosttown or salt 99% of the time.
-
@dugman said:
Literal face camping for two minutes is bad strategy normally. If you stand in place that long four gens are essentially done by the time the survivors do a hook trade, and then the exits are open by the time they do another trade at the end. The only time actual face camping for a long time is a good strategy is with a killer like Bubba who can get quick instant downs on both the rescued survivor and the rescuer during a trade. The devs still don’t like face camping being something that some players FEEL is effective since it’s not an exciting game loop having the killer and hooked person stare at each other for two minutes which is why they say they have been experimenting with ways to get the game to nudge killers away from it.
So-called “proxy camping”, which is really just zone defense where you defend about 1/3 of the map, is more effective. But anybody who thinks zone defense is somehow an illegitimate way to play the game is delusional, it’s not any different than having a 3 gen and hooking a survivor in the area.
In fact the best strategy for the early game isn’t even necessarily hooking the first survivor you down, you can usually do better by slugging that survivor and immediately going to down someone else. Since hooking a survivor takes 10 seconds, by slugging you are being very time efficient in getting into a new chase and directly chasing another off a gen. At that point you have one dying, one being chased, and indirectly a third reviving the downed survivor so only one is on a gen. That dramatically slows progress and gives you additional time to collect hooks as you get moments when you can tell probably only one survivor is actively working a gen. And you can even single out one survivor to be the only one you hook for the most part, slugging everybody else initially, to further really be even more time efficient at getting that person to three hooks while still pressuring two of the others off the gens.
I lost you at "by the time survivors do a hook trade" since the only killers you should be face camping with are ones who can deny the unhook outright. Plenty of them can do it: any 1 shot killer, huntress, trickster, etc etc. If you get your down early enough it's a totally effective strategy depending on your perks.
No way out and Deadlock are literally the two best camping perks that have come out in years, and I routinely camp people to death starting at 5 gens and am not punished specifically because of them. It's not exactly super fun, but going against 4 stack meta SWFs will be a chore no matter what so you might as well make it easier on yourself unless you want to lobby dodge.
Going for 12 hooks with a weaker killer on super braindead easy maps like "The Game" or "Eyrie of Crows" is a great way to get 3-4 hooks and some good old gg ez's in the postgame.
Slugging is barely an effective strategy since all it takes is 1-2 unbreakables and you can lose the game. You basically just pray the survivors are not running the meta. With medkits and WGLF slugging someone buys you all of ~8 seconds some games.

What’s there not to understand? People have different skill levels and abilities.
The problem with only thinking about yourself in SoloQ is that you’re more than likely going to get hatch most of the time and hatch doesn’t count as a “win”. So unless you are already high up you’re going to be stuck in low MMR for a long time.
Being higher MMR doesn't mean I will get good teammates. Usually just means tryhard killers (which is not a problem) with potato teammates (which is a problem)
Only SWF ensures you get a team around skill level in this game. Even back at rank 1 it didn't mean your team was necessarily going to be that good. On average a rank 1 killer was going to be way more skilled than a rank 1 survivor, because the rank 1 killer has to outplay 4 different people every match and to get there requires just as much knowledge as the rank 1 survivor and then some.
Thus, I don't care about my survivor MMR in the slightest. All I care about is surviving really.
-
You could try this build. I been liking it so far, vile emantic + rubbing oil makes Plague pretty good. You need the brutal + bamboozle though in case survivors never cleanse and you are just an M1 killer.
Took a dump on a devotion 15+ lobby with like 20k hours combined just a few minutes ago with it (this is a screenshot from the stream)

You did not mention any killer or any map on your post. You said " You can't get camped and tunneled if you don't go down. Most maps provide more than enough resources to loop a killer for 4-5 gens solid. But for whatever reason you still get survivors going down in the first 20 seconds on a map entirely full of pallets, I will never get it"
So now i am playing against Sadako (m1 killer) at strong survivor sided map. Things changes so fast, right?

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/318571/survivors-cant-get-new-meta-perks
Survivors don't really even need meta perks, outside going against a few select top tier killers. Most of the survivor's power is built into the mechanics of the game itself. Survivor power is pallets and windows.
If survivors slam gens, even something like Parental Guidance is strong enough because outright losing the survivor after a semi-long chase can be a game-losing event; especially if it's the first chase of the game.
BT/DS are only needed if the survivors are poor loopers or going against a tunneling Nurse or something.
I will stop arguing with you, since you clearly can't read and it's a waste of my time. What does the first sentence I said in this thread say?
