Ruin Pop Pyramid Head keeps this game alive don't @ me

Also left behind self care key gaming for surviving solo Q disasters

I would not say using both bottles effectively is very hard. Purple one side, yellow on your side, and then you get a hit at most spots (unless the survivor knows how to predrop). There is also not a huge amount of trickshots like there is with any other projectile killer. Again, there is definitely little things that can be learned with clown and wraith, but they do not have a wide array of techs at their disposable.

You know you can straight up lob them over huge loops right? Like longwalls / jungle gyms / shack / etc? Those are very hard to actually land correctly and feel godly when you do. There's plenty of tiny holes in the geometry you can throw the bottles through to stop a loop faster. Mid-chase you might need to smash a bottle on a small tree or similar to get a larger gas spread, etc etc.

Artillery bombing someone as clown requires you to predict their position like 5 seconds in advance as well as throw it at the exact right time.

I find it much harder to do consistently than say, landing an M2 as Pyramid Head or landing a blink as Nurse. Or even landing a chain as Pinhead. All of those you only really need to know the survivors location at that exact moment in time.

  • Bad manners. Teabagging, macro spamming a flashlight, emoting in chase, insults in endgame chat, etc etc.

So youre bad and after one game you think that tunneling, camping and playing NOED is the solution. Its so embarassing to see this misjudgment every time someone lost a game as killer.

Not really, I mean my last two games have been 2k's. First was hard camping / tunneling as Onryo and the survivors whined about it endlessly in the postgame.

Second was playing some ice blight on Ormond and I got a 2k but like 9 hooks or something with no slowdown.

The second was infinitely more fun even though the end result was exactly the same. I didn't have to cringe every time someone immediately ran to the main building every chase.

The weaker killers are straight up forced into it unless you want to get 3 hooks and a 4 man out every game the survivors want to play sweaty.

For me, it is easily Wraith or Clown. They both are just very straightforward in how they play, and their skill floor to skill ceiling is not very big

Clown takes a ridiculous amount of skill imo. If you just mindlessly toss purple bottles at people as you are chasing them sure he's straightforward. But using trick shots to cut off loops in advance and combining the two bottles effectively is very hard and requires a lot of map knowledge.

What will be the difference? Will it get worse or more toxic? I’m genuinely trying to learn

It's pretty much always gonna be toxic. If you play 10~ killer games and win 9 of them, I wanna say you will get:

    4 Salty Lobbies

    5 Silent Lobbies

    1 gg ez lobby

I can literally go whole days without a gg as killer. But the second you lose it's gg ez. Best thing you can do is turn chat off as killer imo.

Even when you play fair you will still get BM'd, alot of the times by people you went out of your way to give another chance

  • Just depends what killer you are playing. Top tier killers I can see the argument against camping and tunneling.

Low tier killers have absolutely nothing else they can do. I been trying to make Onryo work again today and it's literal torture. Almost no chase power, can't hit and run cause of boons, lullaby stealth killer, and people can avoid her projection from miles away.

I want to play her so bad because I love her character but she's soooo weak I am typically resorting to tunneling the first survivor off hook most games

  • The Game, Disturbed Ward, Eyerie of Crows, Springwood, any Coldwind Map, The Game

The Game especially though, even just loading onto that map puts me on tilt

Clearly you didn't read the post I just linked.

The ranks being hidden is a permanent change to help prevent confusion. The MMR system is still on, albeit with some tweaks.

Those changes from the post have been implemented already?

Niceto see some Demo love, I love his lichen add on so much. Rpd is a great level for cutting people off with it

I've had to add Agitation because it synergize perfectly with his kit

I cant believe there was a time I flat out ignored portals

Yeah Lichen is probably one of my favorite add-ons in the game. Very nice to have it on such a versatile killer too who can use tons of interesting perks.

I really do think Lichen + indoor maps is one of the best combinations you can get in DBD. Being able to place a few portals and attack gens from all sorts of different unexpected angles is just too good. I love actually hiding the portals on a map like RPD.

It's what Sadako should have been; and what they tried to make her with floods of rage. I think her mobility might be a little better and she's better for cutting people off, BUT shred is just so good and puts demo like entire leagues above her.

  • @Heartbound said:

Classic or P3 would probably be my guess. Out in the field I've never really felt it mattered a whole lot unless the ghostface is wearing ice blue (but to be fair it looks cool).

You want classic + p3 mask imo. That's the sweatiest tryhard outfit. P3 body still has the stupid cloth that sticks out from behind corners and raining blood has the red on it which is a no-go.

  • unnamed.png

This is what I have been using. Corrupt + Deadlock + The Box is plenty of slowdown. So the other two are going to chase perks. Brutal bamboozle to make him a strong m1 killer for the times I can't land a chain worth a damn.

Brutal on pinhead is probably the most satisfying brutal user too, the animations look clean af with the extra speed.

He's got some maps where you need to be insanely precise with the chains and I don't feel like needing to land chains like a robot every game with him to get anything done. For that level of effort you can just play nurse.

Nobody uses Hoarder anymore since the box solving add-ons got nerfed and tunneling the box isn't nearly as viable anymore.

  • @lauraa said:

I can only play demo in small doses because he uses too much brain power

    unnamed.png

I finally got around to saving up enough BP to try this build a few times. All I can say is it's 4D chess if you know RPD well (it's my 2nd favorite map so I know it inside out)

You can use the wallhacks portals to straight up cut people off. You can hook someone on one side of the map, go pop a gen somewhere else, then still be back in time to stop the savior.

Call of brine lets him 3 gen like a champion too. Pretty disgusting build overall, though very meticulous and thought intensive imo.

It's morethe principle of it, and failingto understand such childishness. Maybe I'm just too old

Survivors at gates aren't giving hits anyway, so it's more tempting to break stuff for some BP.

Literal children do play this game. As well as teenagers. And adult babies

oh ok gotcha, i hadnt met any swf teams of high caliber yet, but its approaching evening for me so im guessing the misery is about to begin lol

Yeah, as it stands, if you are not often full stalking into instadowns he is strictly worse than wraith. Maybe it will change once his rework actually hits. Make sure to run some sort of tracking perks on him since you need to get the drop on people, otherwise just running up to them with wraith would have been better

  • @InvadeGames said:

i bought him today and have been having fun with him. had 0ks and 4ks and in between, just like my other killers except for pig which is a celebration if you get 2ks lmao.

hes commonly ranked as a low tier killer but he seems pretty nice to me(im mid mmr probably, not high)

you can run around with no radius(from what i understand) and there doesnt seem to be much if any of a speed decrease while stealthed and his mark and reveal abilities is rather powerful if the cards are played right. i thought revealing was bad and it can be but it tells you where nearby survs are which i consider basically a passive perk. his add ons seem decent and i think his perk Im all ears and thrilling tremors are very cool perks.

no, he doesnt have chase power but chasing with no terror radius is rather nice.

So what makes him considered a weak killer?

He has no real chase power. SWF can call out your location on comms. Add-ons are bad for the most part (changing soon). Pretty map dependent since huge open maps like Blood Lodge really mess him up

Spine chill hurts him the most of any stealth killer, making perfectly executed ambush almost impossible on those players

He is OK against solo Q and average loopers. SWF and good loopers will ruin him

  • @lauraa said:

Itd be less annoying if it wasnt predictable.

It's just as annoying as a killer who let's all survivors bleed on the floor for no other reason than to be a...DbD Gamer.

But people always pipe up disingenuously on the topic by saying "I'm just giving the killer some BP!" or "I'm making sure all our team gets out!" as if they dont know what ppl are actually talking about.

General rule of thumb is dont be a jerkwad, and dont waste peoples time.

But respecting peoples time is a mind blowing concept it seems.

It's a little thing called Empathy and the Golden Rule

I think you just go force them out. Or if you can't bear the thought of some bags, go hang out in the basement and AFK

  • @AnnoyingNarrator said:

Now that the number has been knocked down to 50%, we have finally have balanced it, right?

    Right?

Its still broken, and broken for one very simple reason; it sticks around

While one heal using this COH is longer if you included the blessing time, once you consider that other survivors can do it at the same time, that penalty does not matter. When you combine it with the fact that you can have another survivor heal you in a greatly reduced time still, it means the perk is still a problem just one that is harder for survivors to capitalize on.

All these nerfs do is make solo players worse because they can't coordinate setting it up. SWF will get great value out of COH for barely anything at all.

My solution would be to make COH a perk that incentives healing injured teammates by restoring the higher heal speed and reveal any injured survivors in its radius in exchange for removing the self-healing aspect and reducing its range.

This perk is too useful in too many situations and prevents many killers from being able to pressure survivors without tunneling or camping.

Eh we can see after the nerf. Sloppy butcher hit+run might even be relevant again next patch for all we know. Especially with call of brine being a thing.

Hit people with sloppy butcher, call of brine their gen, and then continue onward. CoB will let you know to come back and kill them if they stayed injured.

  • @dugman said:

They’re making the brackets tighter, so instead of say players within 500 you’ll face players within 250 of you, but they’re also lowering the soft maximum cap so instead of, say, anybody over 2000 being treated as a 2000 it’s instead anybody over 1500 is treated as a 1500. (I’m just making up numbers here obviously.)

So if you’re in the average player brackets you’ll be matched against other similarly average players more often. But if you’re a very high rated player you’ll have a bit of a broader pool of players in that very high rated bracket to go against.

So basically it will be old rank 1. Where the skill ranged from complete potato's to gods and veteran killers enjoyed like 95% win rates. The game has come full circle and MMR accomplished almost nothing

The games will be more "laid back" as you rack up your 100+ streak on meta nurse again

  • @EvilJoshy said:

I'm a bit in-between. I'm too dedicated to be a casual. If I get into a game I'll do my research. I'll look up builds, guides or tips on how to improve. Once I hit a road block I'm usually motivated to git gud. When facing difficulty the first question I ask is "what can I do?". That pushes me out of the casual group.

However, there comes a point where I feel there is nothing I can do and I start to see the flaws in the design. Once I hit a point where I feel I have to play a certain way, bring certain builds, use specific characters, then I start to question why am I playing? If I have to use "the meta" then there is a problem with the game, not me. If I can't succeed playing what I enjoy then, to me, that means I've reached the end of the road. I've had my fun but now it's time to play something else.

If there's a term for me it's probably hard-core casual. Dedicated enough to be good but not enough to be top tier.

That's kinda where im at. I take killer somewhat seriously but survivor is a joke outside of SWF.

Even trying to not take survivor seriously, it's always soul crushing to get on teams that just refuse to do gens even when other people are getting chased. It's like well 1 person is doing gens, im getting chased, and 2 people are crouching around in corners while I burn every resource on the map for nothing wooo MMR works so well

does anyone have an idea how to best use Mother's Mirror?... I have no idea what this add-on is supposed to do.

Extends the flicking after she comes out of phase from 4 seconds to 6 seconds. From what I gathered while playing her, you basically always chase while phased until you actually want to hit them at a loop; because it keeps her red stain off + heavier flickering.

Probably best with the newspaper or well water. 6s of heavy flickering while coming out of phase is decently solid. But well water with it lets you do 6s of flickering with 3 of those having no red stain still. It's pretty disorienting to try and keep track of so expect a fair amount of predrops.

I have downed all 4 survivors quickly with Bubba, sometimes they just swarm you and spawn together and its game over before a single gen is done. Most of the time one will DC though, especially the first to get chainsawwed.

I dont even have nurse at lvl 50 but most of my killers are p3ed, I dont play nurse

Yeah but that's actually their fault. Nurse just kind of teleports on top of your head from outside of LOS and instadowns you with that one.

  • @DrDeepwound said:

So all 4 survivor get downed and somehow, it's the killers fault for playing better than the opponent.

    Amazing. stuff

Could still have been a super cheese nurse build

    unnamed.png

Probably the only killer who actually wants a Game offering. If they get unlucky it's 15 seconds of wallhacks + instadowns on a killer who can cover 80% of the map in one blink...and it's undying lmao

I have seen teams pretty much wiped out in the first ~20-30 seconds of a game starting with this build more than any other build in the game lol

  • That's true, my grade ranking has taken a HUGE dive since SBMM. The matches I play are simply too short to get anything done really. Either all gens are done in 4-5 minutes or all the survivors are dead in 4-5 minutes and nobody ever really gets any points. Especially since I mainly play instadown killers who don't get any emblems to begin with.

  • @Thusly_Boned said:

Iri Tape, Bloody Fingernails, Well Water, Newspaper. Also the VCR. All pretty solid. Iri tape is really strong, but it's an iri. My most common build is the VCR + Bloody Fingernails (two that I think should be basekit), and I do all right for myself.

That said, you must use some combo of her best add ons or you'll have a bad time.

Yeah I finally found a video where you can see the addons from the survivors POV. I wanna say ill be going with Well Water + Newspaper which is what I suspected would be really good in the OP.

Fingernails and Iri tape are good utility but I think WW+N will help you just brute force people down at loops which is more my playstyle. Cutting people off and hitting them from the TVs isn't always super reliable even though it is awesome when it works.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2911115#Comment_2911115

If only the addons wouldn't be so confusing, I don't even understand most of them.

I am heavily mindgaming with Sadako and seems to work, problem is... high MMR gens are being rushed and even with insane map mobility it's hard if I don't have a little.. stronger chase. I think it's all about finding a good playstyle but she is complicated

It took me a bit to wrap my head around them but I finally understand what they do.

    (18) DETAILED ONRYO / SADAKO GUIDE - Tips, Best Builds, Best Add-ons - Dead By Daylight Ringu Guide - YouTube

That probably explains it better than I ever could through text, short video too.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Are there any addons that are generally not hard to get (Purple, Red) for Sadako and can create good synergy with a specific build?

Looking at yellows green or browns? I am also trying to master this killer and I'm still having a hard time

I have been playing her for weeks and still can't figure out how to make her not terrible lol. The only synergies I can think of are MYC + Fingernails, and Pinwheel + Mindbreaker.

    unnamed.png

I had some decent success with this one today. Hit and run mostly while trying to save the gens with call of brine. Ring drawing to waste more time with the healing. Would probably be alot better after the CoH nerf though.

Reikos watch is probably my favorite addon for her though, it looks very thematic from the survivors POV and can make tracking her location in chase actually sort of difficult

  • @remoirel said:

Mothers Mirror, Old Newspaper, Clump of Hair and and Reikos Watch are all my go to's

Well Stone and Cabin Sign are good for Survivors that actually care about turning off TVs

Things like Well Water with Mirror are interesting. Telephone can also be helpful.

Then she just has add ons i don't see the point of like Pinwheel and Mothers Comb

Pinwheel has the strange effect of making survivors hear an ominous noise near a powered TV, as well as cover their screen in static. Not sure how useful it is still but it's definitely spooky. Not sure if sea soaked cloth does that too since I have never seen anyone use it.

Tape editing deck has actually been pretty strong, basically a free corrupt intervention. Especially if you got a huge map to offer with it.

Distorted Photo has been pretty meme tier but actually got me a few unexpected downs. If it 100% "if witnessed" because I was wondering why people were not screaming when I was chasing them sometimes, they actually have to be looking at you ala ghostface. I have found random survivors who were looking at me when I remanifested somewhere which was neat.

Have not found a use for mothers comb yet. Maybe with remote control to have an idea where to chase a survivor with a tape deck?

  • I just think it's funny that "teabag" is censored.

I had some guy yesterday ask "why did you BM?" and I was gonna say "because you teabagged me" and it came out "Because you ########"

  • Steve takes the cake for meme tier hooking screams but Jill's are up there too

Meme tier injured sounds is tied between Laurie or Feng imo

  • @Heartbound said:

While it won't always work, don't leave the 3rd survivor slugged. Go ahead and hook them. It puts pressure on the 4th to either save the hooked survivor or start trying to find the hatch before you do. This will cause the survivor to wish to cover lots of ground quickly and will be easier to find due to the scratchmarks they'll leave behind.

(Also for the slugged person it's kind of boring.)

I just don't get the people who get mad you don't save them when it's like....2 survivors and 4 gens left. Going for the save is basically suicide at that point but people will be foaming at the mouth you didn't try and save them 2v1 against a basement bubba or something

  • The ability to spawn in the basement as killer, as well as bloody clothes

Also it's definitely worth it on many characters, looking more deranged is a good thing in a horror game

  • Indoor map enjoyer here, I would hate it

An RPD / Midwich / Lerys only mode? That's where it's at.

"The Game" is too busted for even me to like

If your strat involves facecamping/tunneling that wasn't a win through skill. Also if you're winning from 1-2 DMS procs you're playing against bad survivors.

Well that's too bad, because it's a strategy that exists in the game. It doesn't matter how much skill it takes.

If you are tunneling people out with a mori, 1 DMS can be enough. Especially on a 1 shot killer. You get the first down quickly, either through skill or mistakes, and then 45s of blockage on the first most progressed gen is enough to secure a half state into a mori tunnel. It's really that simple, bonus points for being an instadown killer and completely securing the half state with no counterplay other than all 3 survivors rushing the hook at the same time (never going to happen in solo Q)

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2907227#Comment_2907227

Yeah I don't think people realize how much time is lost literally on fixed animations (pickup and hook). Not even counting finding and chasing, every single pick up and hook costs you almost half an entire gen. That's wild for something you can't ever improve on no matter how good you are. Kind of points out why people slug, it saves you so much time.

As you mentioned it also illustrates why everyone feels forced to stack gen slow down perks.

I'd also agree 2-3 gens on first hook is pretty standard for most matches. It makes sense when you not only add in the things we mentioned but also that survivors spawn on the gens and the time you waste crossing the map to even start the first chase.

You know the game is balanced around people having perks, right? As killer I can get 1-2 DMS procs and literally win the game. Corrupt / Deadlock / NWO literally makes facecamping a viable 3k strat.

  • He plays with meme perks, and goes out of his way to not play optimal. Why should he beat survivors who are playing optimal even if they are slightly below his skill level? It's no secret you are probably going to die quickly if huntress closes the gap on you, some maps will give you nothing to work with against her.

  • image.png

    "Perfectly thrown huntress hatchets"

  • Yeah he is pretty hard too, but it's not too too hard to hit the chains. It's mainly hitting the chain at the exact right part of the loop.

As opposed to like Billy, where you gotta start the saw at the exact right moment and make an insane flick usually and STILL hope they don't dodge it. Or clown where you may need to predict the survivors position, your position, and both of those many seconds in advance as well as have the mechanical skill to lay the bottles in the correct spots. Blight isn't super difficult but still can be taxing to play and way more than Nurse.

Nurse was honestly pretty easy to get good at and even years of not playing her later I can still use plaid flannel and 4k with her.

  • @FrostyEyesSusie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2907672#Comment_2907672

Why? Because if a Nurse player plays perfectly, she wins? If a survivor player plays perfect, he wins 100% of the time yet nobody complains about it.

I'm sorry, at least put the hard to play killers in a post like this. Nurse you can slap on the wallhacks (im all ears) and 3 blinks and take a dump on pretty much every team if you are not bad at video games.

Billy, Clown, Blight, etc are so much harder to play well even if they are not as strong.

  • @SMitchell8 said:

I don't dread playing killer, but I do have to be in the right frame of mind for it. You can't play relaxed, you litterally have to fully concentrate on what you are doing all match and any lapses, will probably end up in you losing the match.

I wouldn't fancy playing an m1 killer given how much work it is to get a 3+ kill with Oni who supposedly a top 8 killer in the game.

I will agree with that. I would say my experiences have made me more hardened to the stress than anything. Eventually you learn to enjoy the adrenaline, especially in a safe environment like a video game where your life is not really at stake. You screw up on something like a motorcycle and you are just dead completely

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2907529#Comment_2907529

...Why on earth are you running 4 slowdowns?

I mean, I get running CI+Ruin+Undying, or maybe Plaything+Penti+PR. Otherwise you've got 1, likely 2 perks doing nothing.

From what I've seen, good killers run some combination of:

    • 1 early game perk (Discordance, CI, LP)
    • 1-2 regression perks (PR, CoB, Pop, Ruin, Deadlock, very occasionally Penti or Surge).
    • 1 utility perk (BBQ, Undying, Agitation, Insidious, FoR etc.)
    • 1 combat perk (Starstruck, Devour, STBFL, very occasionally PWYF)
    • 1-2 endgame perks (NWO, NOED, BW).

I've actually started seeing a lot of killers shifting to a more endgame/combat heavy focus and only running Deadlock for slowdown.

4 regression perks would be silly.

4 slowdowns is what they use in the tournaments. I consider NWO / BW slowdowns. CI is a slowdown. Anything that is just giving you more time to kill the survivors is a slowdown in my book.

The strongest killers don't need chase perks at all. 4 slowdowns is always optimal if you can get the downs fast enough and have good enough game sense to not need tracking perks. Some of the strong but non mobile killers can probably use tracking perks better since the punishment for mispositioning can be high. Nurse / Blight / Spirit / etc are not punished nearly so much for going to the wrong gen

    @AngyKiller said:

I use it because, if I manage 2 kills during the match; no one expects it at the end. It's a great way to scare Survivors into making mistakes.

I use Rancor for all my endgame needs. It helps you a bit through the whole trial too. Rancor is usually banned in tournaments too from what I have seen. Depending on the killer it can need some supporting perks but it's straight up nuking people at the end instead of screwing around having to hook them

  • @AngyKiller said:

If they got kills; what did they fail?

Oh right; the Survivor BS 'You failed at 5 gens' non-logic. People still believe this garbage?

    Yikes.

To be fair, it's usually a shock when a good killer hits me with NOED. Typically it's the default outfit killers that got run the entire game who have it. You usually can tell because they have no game sense and will be chasing me for like 4 gens through the strongest areas of the map, and get rewarded for basically throwing the game and not being able to take smart chases

The good killers usually have 4x slowdowns and the gens are never getting done in the first place

I only use it on killers I am learning, after that I move onto better perks that consistently get me 3ks and 4ks instead of a pity 1k at the end of the game

  • I mean really all you need is either BT or DS. BT if you think your teammates are gonna get camped, DS if you find yourself being camped. The other 3 perks you can use whatever.

I used to go into every game with BT/DS/DH/Iron will and eventually found it didn't matter in the slightest if my team was playing very poorly anyways. They only get you so far, and leave you without any sort of backup plan if your teammates are getting killed off at 5 gens left, DC, suicide, etc etc.

Eventually I moved to being a left behind key / wake up gamer. Those perks it's not utterly hopeless when someone DCs on their first down at 5 gens, which honestly bothers me much more than someone getting tunneled out early.

  • The basement is literally there just for camping, think about that

  • Parental Guidance + Smash hit; a straight up chase ender. It also rewards you very heavily for camping pallets which is pretty funny since normally that's bad

It has nothing to do with being nice. It is just the way that I'm used to playing and what has worked for me. But obviously it isn't working anymore so I changed it up. I don't believe that anyone owes me for playing the way I play, but I'm also sick of having game after game of getting every build snuffed out while people sit there smug at the end game

I mean I win plenty of games without playing toxic....I just choose to do it anyways half the time

Basement Bubba is unfortunately not even the meta, just pure facecamp bubba with 4x slowdown perks or nemesis rancor is way better

  • I could see that. Unfortunately DBD has returned to being pallet town over the last few map releases. Big maps that are extremely pallet dense, but now the strongest killers hit over every pallet anyways.

If you are playing one of the weaker killers who can't hit over god pallets, good luck these days unless you are willing to devote a ton of time to gitting gud.

The games progression has gone from pallet town ---> deadzone by daylight ---> back to pallet town

  • Leatherface is exactly why kill based matchmaking is a joke. Rancor is pretty bad too

Not that im complaining but it's true

Is probably a bit low powered for the conditions, but reducing TR for the duration of the match is definitely a powerful effect.

It's IN CHASE though lmao. If it just flat reduced your TR for the rest of the match it would actually be a pretty good perk.

Ok, can you provide an example of a perk that has multiple conditions to activate and isn't at all powerful?

    Furtive chase
