Question about camping?
So this isn't about camping itself as there are already so many posts about this but I have a question in regards to leatherface. So I have seen so many posts about how camping is fine and part of the game, even a few sated by moderator, devs ect. So my question is this.
If camping is denying survivors a reasonable chance to escape the hook considered acceptable, why did they give leatherface his overheat mechanic? There are other examples sure, but I think this is the clearest example. For those who don't know old leatherface could hold his chainsaw indefinitely. As a result they could stand in front of a hook with their chainsaw revved and when a survivor went for an unhook they would release it downing them instantly. Then then changed it so after a set amount of time, leatheface is forced to use his chainsaw once revved for tool long. If denying survivors a reasonable chance to escaped perfectly acceptable, then why change leatherface? Because what they were doing was not an exploit, and technically, yes you could still go for the unhook. It would never work but you could. Now they changed leatherface and the chance of you getting unhook went from, Essentaly no chance, to maybe jut maybe if the leatherface is the worst layer in the entire you might be able to get the save. But why why bother to make the change if it doesn't actually change if there is nothing wrong with denying an unhook.
I would like a moderator or developer to please answer this.

The basement is literally there just for camping, think about that
The fact that a mechanic is considered fine doesn't exclude that they can tweak specific instances.
The tantrum meter, for example, was even dead on arrival on that aspect. No more than a promotional stunt that was put in the teaser for the Leatherface changes (that little clip with Bubba facecamping in basement and going in a tantrum) that in typical bhvr style they just assumed would work without testing. Not only Bubba can deny unhooks like before. They BUFFED his camping by making him able to down the rescued through BT.
The devs embrace camping. There are are many features that do promote and reward camping by denying unhooks, or guaranteeing one-for-ones and in general forcing a multi-person save attempts.
Basement, as the poster above me said. Hook grabs (however inconsistent grabbing is) and unhook interruptions, optimized camping builds (corrupt, deadlock, nwo, noed is one), some powers sometimes with addons (Huntress base or worse with oak haft or iri head, Pinkie Finger Clown, Doc especially with Discipline, etc.),
Camping is the game. As it was Deathgarden. Oops.
RIP DG. But that game had more to it then just camping depending on what version we're talking about.
Sure you could get camped as a runner, but you also could chain stun, slow, and blind the hunter.
There was a lot to that game until the meta was established. Then there was very little left. Rip indeed.
What was your question, exactly?
Why give leatherface an overheat mechanic to prevent him making it near impossible to get saves, when the devs themselves deem it acceptable?
Clearly they do not given it is now possible to save against Leatherface. Albeit, you basically need Borrowed and DS end game to have an actual chance of either survivor escaping.
I am surprised they respect his niche. For now, at least. However, allowing him to face camp is very different than literally making it impossible to save.
