  • If it's like a Sadako on Coldwind or something? Absolutely. And it doesn't have to be a 5 gen run, 3 gens is enough. And a 3 gen run if your team is actually doing gens is maybe a 40-50 second chase? You can get that predropping on half the maps.

I wouldn't say DS and BT aren't needed, as camping and tunneling can hurt a team quite hard if they're not using DS/BT

You can't get camped and tunneled if you don't go down. Most maps provide more than enough resources to loop a killer for 4-5 gens solid. But for whatever reason you still get survivors going down in the first 20 seconds on a map entirely full of pallets, I will never get it. Sure, camping and tunneling is OP in that situation but that's the survivors fault. And really BT/DS won't buy a survivor playing that poorly much time anyways. Especially if the killer was a top tier character.

I use the perks sometimes too but I almost never think they are actually needed. It's usually I am using them to cover up my teams mistakes rather than thinking the perks were a requirement to win.

Bluntly, in solo Q you are better off running things to keep yourself alive rather than your team. Too many games the gens are never going to get done and you can choose to run those perks and go down with the ship every time, or save yourself.

I've seen a lot of recent complaints about Survivors not getting any new meta Perks, which is 100% understandable, Killers have been getting more and more good Perks, and a lot of Survivor Perks just aren't good and aren't getting buffed either.

What my issue with these complaints is, is that there CAN'T be any new meta Perks added.

    Why?

Because for there to be new meta Perks, they'd need to be better than the current meta Perks, which means they'd be straight up broken and overpowered, or easily abuseable. It happened with Boil Over and it happened with Circle Of Healing.

If Survivors wanted new meta Perks, they'd have to accept that most of their meta would need to be nerfed slightly to be on the level of most Perks, along with buffing some of the weaker Perks to find a middle ground

Survivors don't really even need meta perks, outside going against a few select top tier killers. Most of the survivor's power is built into the mechanics of the game itself. Survivor power is pallets and windows.

If survivors slam gens, even something like Parental Guidance is strong enough because outright losing the survivor after a semi-long chase can be a game-losing event; especially if it's the first chase of the game.

BT/DS are only needed if the survivors are poor loopers or going against a tunneling Nurse or something.

I do play bubba and pyramid head, bubba is good at punishing clicky survivors as for pyramid he is satisfying when you land your m2 but it's mainly prediction in jungle gyms and loops, try hag too even that she's boring she can give survivors a hard time you can patrol and protect hooks at the same time.

I haven't played Hag since circle of healing came out. Not even a single match. I used to play her a lot but I know going against CoH would be a hideous slog if the survivors were any good since they can retreat endlessly to the boon. I am waiting for the (second) nerf then I will see how she is. I almost feel like right now she would be reliant on cheesing a grab with rusty shackles to get anything done against a 4 stack.

And yeah Bubba is a bit predictable but with his good add-ons he still feels pretty powerful to me, and I love camping the basement so he holds a special place in my heart. No other killer can reliably send people out of the game with so little points other than maybe Tombstone myers.

Yeah basically. Quit crying. No one actually cares. Play the game or quit? Quit the "woe is me my life is hard" crap. You don't like it, than stop. "I hate when survivors t-bag me, or flashlight spam" want to know a good counter? Quit caring.

The counter is to play in a manner that is conductive towards winning, and murder them.

Wraith was my main when I started the game until I moved to huntress and nurse it's much more peace of mind playing nurse tbh you can't go back but she took me tons of hours of practice to do get the hang of her.

You could try Pyramid Head, it took me a long time to get the hang of him too but he's super rewarding once you do. He's my go-to ranged killer for sure. Godly at tunneling, and can play pretty cheesy if you know the cage spawns.

I play lots of Bubba too since you can't really bully him either. Feed him pallets or die, and he's king camper.

Clearly you must to care that much. It's funny the killer mentality you get so mad over a t-bag and Macro you throw the game and get butt hurt. Poor you. Some internet person didn't play how you like:(

I would expect nothing less from a Nancy pfp to be fair. If I had a dollar for every time someone cried about camping and tunneling in this game I would be a rich, rich man. I get tears literally every day I play killer.

But that's the usual double standard in this game. Survivors can cry all they want, but killer? Nope. Git gud.

Ain't no fun in this at all,a lot of killers like slinger are weak and getting trolled by toxic swf's isn't a fun experience until you * learn * a new killer I'd rather stick to nurse after all until it's possible to practice in a more friendlier environment.

That's how I learned. I probably played my first ~300-400 hours on Nurse. From there I moved to Wraith, although i'm not sure how much I would recommend him these days. The M1 killers can still compete but your only strategy is basically tunneling at 5 gens +2-3 slowdown perks, otherwise you can't win with them.

In before this survivor main tells me "just 12 hook the survivors on coldwind in 4 minutes with clown 4head"

  • @Wendygo said:

Survivor main propaganda? Lmao. So. You don't play killer at all? Or you just think your pips and rank mean everything?

"OH I went to gate and they t- bagged me, my life is so rough boo hoo feel sorry " grow up. It's a game. People will be crappy, wonder how you handle real life if you can't handle some online people making your life rough. Cry harder. "Must be survivor main cause he isn't triggered by t bagging" or maybe I just don't care and find it funny? Lol

I don't care about pips, rank, or bloodpoints. The only thing that matters to me as a killer is kills.

I guess you enjoy losing, you do you.

  • @Wendygo said:

And?Only one way to get good with a killer. Learn from you mistakes. Killer, you can make one bad chase. Against a SWF. That's game. Quit giving yourself pressure to do as good as your main. Have fun even if it's a 4 man out. 'How can you deter that in the future?' 'What can you do to better the playing field? '

Point is. Give a new killer a chance and enjoy them. Learn their in's and outs.

    That's some survivor main propaganda.

"Just have fun getting dumped on, teabagged and BMed at the exit gate, and abused in post game chat"

Yeah, I'm good. My recommendation is NOED on killers you are learning. Or Rancor if you feel confident using it. No 4 man outs ever, it's the ultimate disgrace.

  • kwovcbl.jpg

Soon you will be camping, tunneling, and BMing survivors as a second nature

  • It's good if you want to do a 3 gen strat or are playing killers who are really lethal in deadzones. You could try it with Dragon's Grip but I think it's better to just put it on a killer like Bubba or Plague who gets straight up downs if you catch survivors out.

Once they nerf CoH and buff hemorrhage I can't wait to try some 3 gen sloppy butcher + call of brine hag. I bet the matches will last an eternity.

  • @EntitySpawn said:

"Farm stacks and die" maybe your team heard you and was like "I ain't getting farmed" lol.

Like I said people's entitlement is ridiculous as survivor. People quitting over certain killers or a fast down... this isnt a solo Q issue this is a player issue and they wont stop unless they're punished more for it.

Edit: you must be low mmr or people are deranking

Nobody had even gone down yet, or taken a hit. The first guy to DC was the mostly meta flashlight user. Then the others followed ~20 seconds later when pinhead switched from chasing me to them.

And I have no idea what my survivor MMR is, I barely play it. I have wake up on so when my teammates all DC or die at 4-5 gens left I can camp a door after letting the killer find hatch.

My survivor games yesterday were something like:

Game 1: Two people in basement against Bubba at 5 gens, with 1 of them suiciding into the killer to kick the match off

Game 2: AFK survivor, team gets slaughtered

Game 3: Someone DCs at 5 gens

    Game 4: Played killer instead

Today was just a repeat straight off the bat. I wish they would up the penalty to like 10 minutes or something.

No way. It is soo easy to get to red1 i read here all the time. Only god players in the forum.

I hit a solid wall in higher grades. (Which kills the argument grades are only time played - they are not)

Uh, they are? It's trivial to rank up if you care about that. You can 1k with legion and still get rank ups every game if you run some stall perks and stab enough people.

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

I know the difficulty is for new players to how difficult the killer is to just pick and play...

However I think I rememeber Ghostie and Shape being Hard difficulty or something which made me realise it is not much better than their old rating. I don't understand their mind at all.

I can see pig being hard for a new player. You could fall into the trap of crouch walking around all game, you could mis-prioritize going for a survivor with a head trap over survivors on gens, and her ambush attack only works at extremely short tiles and just wastes time otherwise.

I can see Shape being hard too, no real anti-loop, probably the worst starts for a killer in DBD (when the start is the most crtiical time for a killer), you need to manage stalk on survivors to make sure you can tier up on people still, and there is a limited amount of tier 3's per game so you are pressured to make lots of things happen each tier 3.

Ghostface is the same, no anti-loop, his power is negated by looking at him, and you need a lot of map knowledge to actually stalk effectively. New players are going to have no idea where to approach gens from.

They put someone like legion as "easy" and I agree. You see survivor, hit M2, run up and collect a free hit with no skill required.

So far I agree with the difficulty ratings, as seen from a brand new killers perspective.

well, the best would be 2 Survivors dead. So it would be more like 6, but i don't get to 4 hooks. Except if i would tunnel, and i did that too. I really didn't phrase that well: I don't even get one hook in the time 2-3 gens are done. So getting even to 4 seems a lot. idk if that maybe is just that i have an unlucky streak, but it's just not fun to play like that. Ofc if i could pull it off, it feels rewarding, and to win all the time would be boring too.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2894658#Comment_2894658

My main Killer is Nemesis. Not the worst, but i know his weakness, and i know how to play him well enough, but even if i 3-gen them, kicking gens is useless without pop, which i don't have unlocked, and even then you need hooks, and if they just run away from the gens and heal, you either chase them down, or hope for BIG mistakes. But overall you already need at least one dead to make it possible, or they need to be bad.

If they are in a call, you need a VERY lucky spawn, or a small map.

And yes, i could play Nurse, or blight i could invest hours in a killer i don't want to play... I mean fellow insane person that plays a "weak" killer, i know you hear me xD.

And yeah, i'm not the "rage" person, i'm really super chill, i'm more... "dissapointed". I appreciate your tips ^^

I mean you could just upgrade to Leatherface. He is easy to play and way stronger than Nemesis. Nemesis is a 3 health state killer, so with dead hard it's more like 4. He's really not that good. If you are getting looped hard as him, run bamboozle. You need to hit your tentacles like a robot to win with Nemesis against good survivors and the hitbox is both wonky and tiny enough that is hard to achieve. Nemesis can also benefit pretty good from bamboozle.

You could also try enduring spirit fury, or rancor. Endfury is basically free hits. Rancor is just a freebie kill at the end if you play it right.

Leatherface can always usually get at least 1 kill, so you are at not getting 4 man outed at least.

  • @lavars said:

It finally happened. I started to hate playing killer... I'm probably the most chill person, never rage, play "fair" (sometimes I camp but mainly if it feels like i wouldn't get a kill otherwise) , etc. but recently I literally can't win a single round. I chase one survivor, get a hit early, we loop around something 2-3 times, and suddenly three gens pop. From there i still need to have 12 hooks... Thrilling tremors, corrupt, ruin, or whatever perks you want to equip don't help. How are you supposed to pressure gens and get people? What are your tips?

As someone who prefers killers... I kind of doesn't anymore.

I try different builds but I can't be asked to unlock more perks just to enjoy the game. The game is still "good" but damn can it be unfun.

"Needs to have 12 hooks" is a lie. An optimal game of killer is 4 hooks, as killing every survivor on first hook is the best play you can make if you are able to pull it off.

We hate people who only run the meta and complain about it, and when someone tries something else..... we still hate them. okay XD

I guess you don't understand the concept of a zero sum game. Getting randomly robbed out a hook is fun for the survivor, and obnoxious for the killer. Tunneling is fun for the killer, and obnoxious for the survivor.

Don't sit here and tell me that some survivor going and equipping 4x stun perks and a flashlight is looking out for the killers fun. Lmao.

Yeah and once the killer realizes you have it they'll simply wait for you to bleed out the next time they down you.

That's what I do. It's like the bootleg uncounterable unbreakable. Or I just tunnel them to death since people with annoying meme perks usually skimp on the DS.

Working on getting Deadlock right now actually. It seems like the next best thing to regression. The only reason I don't like using regression perks is because I know it makes the game boring for survivors. I also want to have fun matches where I don't feel carried by a perk build. It only seems to be a recent problem, as every game I go into is filled with these types of playstyles and perks.

I dunno, I mean here is what my typical matches look like:

    https://youtu.be/G9rKFULNeRU?t=1331

Survivors slamming 5 gens in ~4 minutes, BNPs, camping god pallets, 4x dead hards, etc etc.

I gotta say I could not care less about survivors having fun when many, many of my matches are against SWFs like this.

If someone is gonna cry they get tunneled to death in 2 minutes, too bad. It's a 5-6 minute video game a lot of the time for me.

  • The quick fix is to be killer and farm the potato's instead of having to play with them.

  • @Vampwire said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2893766#Comment_2893766

I usually don't need it. Normally I can snowball against survivors well enough to keep the game going. It just seems like recently everyone has gone super sweaty and basically stopped trying to play the game in an interactive way.

Well then the survivors are boosted, what else can I say? Your typical match against good survivors is literally going to be a ~4 minute game unless you start getting pressure immediately.

But on weaker killers they can just predrop during your first chase and you lose 3 gens for it. From there second chance perks can carry them through the last two even if most of the pallets are gone. You need the artifical extra time injected by perks like Deadlock / Corrupt / etc. As I said, with the predrops it doesn't matter at all how good you are at killer. A safe pallet is a safe pallet.

I can see the argument for Nurse still being stronger on a very skilled player, but for the average player I think this blight is a lot harder to face

I mean if we are comparing ultra rare nurse to ultra rare blight; I still think even an average 3 blink Nurse is going to dump on people. 3 blinks takes alot of the skill out of nurse too.

  • I think it was Claudette when I started but now it's usually Ace's that strike fear into me. Purple / Pink Ace's are always raid bosses.

  • @Vampwire said:

Normally, I don't get too tilted at DBD. But today has been miserable. All matches were over in less than 10 minutes. Everyone had DH. At least one COH. At least two beefy medkit/toolboxes. And, of course, some big map was in play to make mobility a pain.

I played Deathslinger, Nemesis, and Plague. All pretty decent killers. Normally I don't run many regression perks or none at all. I kept retrying for almost 2 hours hoping for better matches. But every single one sucked.

I don't mind losing as long as I can play the game and have a few good chases. But as I said these matches were just over so fast. It felt like I walked at people the entire match. Even when I sent a map offering, it didn't matter. Gens still kept flying. People were constantly so far away that by the time I reached them my power was already about to expire or I lost another gen.

I just don't understand what I'm suppose to do? I can't tag survivors because they'll just heal up in 10 seconds. I can't commit for too long or else the gens are gone. But if I don't commit then I have no pressure. I've been told before that if I play a killer with strong chase tools that people aren't going to try to loop. But what's going to stop them from doing that if I play an m1 killer? It feels like I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't. Because even if I play a less strong killer; those tactics are stronger because I can't kill them as easily once I do catch up.

Another inconvenience has been the amount of de-sync. While this may be just my own hardware failing, it doesn't make it much better. I've been stunned through pallets that I was already the whole way through, hit people then get stunned a second later, have my Deathslinger chain broken in 2 seconds when in the open, rubberband backwards and get looped longer, and a multitude of other problems pop up from it.

It feels like I literally just can't win. And I don't know how to fix these problems or how I could possibly play better. Maybe if I were a robot and made not a single mistake I could win.

I mean you answered your own question. "I don't use regression" and I hate to inform you that you NEED it in this game outside the top tier killers.

Low tier killers cannot function without regression unless you hard camp / tunnel or the survivors are boosted. No matter how well you play, the gens will fly. You can down people in 15-20 second chases and still lose playing for 12 hooks without regression. The maps are too big and survivors spawning on gens is a big problem only rectified by corrupt intervention.

  • @TheArbiter said:

I'm of the belief that a blight using compound 33 and enduring is the best killer in the game, even passing nurse. I'm curious about the thoughts of people here on the forums. Do you think C33 is fine as is or deserves a nerf?

It's definitely still not as good as Nurse. How is a killer that needs to break pallets and has to deal with window vaults ever going to be compared to a killer who can just teleport on top of your head no matter what if she is in range?

As for C33, it's strong. But broken? Eh. People forget it's buggy af. Alot of the time you still suffer an injection cooldown after breaking a pallet, or it will just outright bug and you will run around in a psedo-glitched state for the remainder of that rush chain. The bugs are game losing sometimes.

They can wait it out. The killer gets a notification that they touched the gate, but they can literally just hide it out.

I dunno. I have been finding Demo to be one of the best lategame build users. And NOED is kinda garbage tbh. Unless you are playing a killer who can camp a hook well, a bodyblocking SWF can still get out with BT/DS/DH after just breaking the totem and it only buys you one hook.

Rancor is the way to go, if the game is going south at like 1 gen left you find the obsession and just follow them around until endgame.

But why is demo so good at it? Behold:

    unnamed.png

Only killer in the game who gets map-wide wallhacks for the endgame rancor kill. You can pretty much throw for 5 gens, and still 2k purely off rancor and NWO. You could probably dump enduring for something else way better but I just like using it on him.

The soulsbourne games were extremely punishing but ultimately with a degree of fairness to them. Playing killer anymore just feels straight up punishing

All I saw was "wah wah can't get 50 wins in a row anymore, game is SOUL CRUSHING" I only won 16 games in a row, and got a 2k the one I "lost".

Point of order: the wording in BHVR's statement was something along the lines of "a difference of as much as 15% at some MMR brackets."

We don't know what that escape rate is, if it's even problematic, or what that MMR is when that differential takes place. If a solo player had a 35% escape rate that jumped to 50% in SWF, it wouldn't mean SWF was OP. But that would be a literal 15% jump. Even if we take them literally at a flat 15% (which we shouldn't), there are still unknowns.

Most other popular games limit the team sizes in ranked mode. Apex legends keeps 3 stacks out of solo / duo Q lobbies. League limits you to a duo in a 5v5 game, etc etc. Just saying "I am going for the save" on discord is worth like 3+ perk slots to the team. So many other competitive games acknowledge the difference in performance between people on voice comms and people who are not.

DBD just throws them all together in a nice unbalanced and lazy mess. The survivor's skill has nothing to do with the problem.

  • @GannTM said:

I don’t think the issue is SWF, the issue is the survivors were just good.

15% difference in escape rates implies something different

It's common knowledge SWF is OP. But now there is even a statistic to point to as well

Sure. But he actually accounted for this - he was talking about toolkit and the importance of 1v1 ability right now. Applying some map control doesn't really matter if you have to eat every pallet on the map to get a down.

I'm not sure why he would think the days of MMR he is going to go into games with 3 perks and a brown addon on a weak killer and win a bunch. Sounds kind of entitled honestly.

The nice thing is Ghostface will be coming back in a huge way soon, reading his addon changes, so at least we will have him for the go-to stealth killer now. Addon's are such a huge part of this game and hers are garbage.

The only thing Onryo really has that's good for a chase is old newspaper + mothers mirror. Reikos watch is intimidating to look at but they can still hear you manifesting so it doesn't help much. You will never hit anyone out of a TV so bloody fingernails suck. Even the best flicker mindgames can be beaten by just camping a pallet. Lol.

  • I can't stand her without vile emantic or at least rubbing oil. The hit registration robbery happens a lot less with either of those addons.

I can understand why you may feel that way, but it still opens opportunities for "those" players.

The one time a sacrificial ward actually helped me was when I accidentally equipped it last second and it was against a Wraith with a full expose build attempting to take us to Lery's. Yeah, we got lucky there. My issue with the ward is that it requires you to know that a map is being played which isn't in the game yet so you'll just have to take a risk burning it to effectively use it. It's not even a common offering either.

I use stealth + exposed builds on Lery's too. Why not?

I can confidently say survivors benefit from them more. For every time you get enough BP to play a killer build like that, you will be sent to Coldwind 10 times. I can literally get strode keyed like 3+ times in a row some nights, i'm sure even more now that MMR is a thing. And then at the end the survivors will still complain that they got camped and tunneled lul.

I'm not sure how much of an issue I think it is. The overwhelming majority of maps are survivor sided so it's not like playing on a survivor sided map is anything new. Map offerings are not really the problem, the maps themselves are.

I don't know how anyone can think that. My typical matches against Nurse are like I load in, hear the screech. 15-20 seconds later a teammate is down, then my gen eats a pain resonance, maybe a DMS too, and I know it's over before I really even got a chance to play.

I wish. I do love Pinhead, the Hellraiser movies are apart of my favorite horror movies, but the Killer is just too weak and easily countered. I mostly play Nurse right now.

He's not that bad, but requires literal pixel perfection. If you are hitting the chains at the exact right time (at the apex of loops) his anti-loop can actually get people at safe pallets pretty easily. But of course, that's with hitting the chains at the exact right time lol.

For the same effort and precision Nurse will just murder the entire team outright without them even having a chance. I actually found myself going back to Plaid Flannel after playing so much pinhead because I enjoy the indicator.

As mentioned above, balancing all of the maps to an equal level to the point where neither side can abuse it for their scheme would take the team way too long.

Also, every map has its gimmick or type of style so I wouldn't be surprised if either side still finds a way to take advantage of it. Stealth killers would heavily benefit from Lery's and a sweat squad would use the best map at the time.

However let's say the devs are working on the maps, the offerings are still being used as tools to spread devious schemes so it's best to perhaps disable them in the meantime.

I like them alot as killer. Considering 80% of the maps are survivor sided it's nice to go to some one's that are not utter BS to deal with sometimes.

Plus we have sacrificial wards now. It's actually sort of crazy to think I have not been strode keyed in months though. Right now it's the endless Coldwind + Springwood spam with maybe some Eerie of crows and Meat Plant thrown in there.

The difference is Nemesis and Pinhead atleast got people talking. They were very iconic licenses. Sadako just came and went

She just too weak. I think even played close to perfection she's dumpster tier. I enjoy that she is spooky and with Reiko's watch she is visually appealing but meta survivors just body her.

She has very little tools (literally just being small and flickering) to outplay a safe pallet. Survivors can just camp them and never be mindgamed. Turning off her TVs is way too trivial as well.

Nemesis and Pinhead actually have some functional anti-loop to at least make playing them not a total chore.

Had some guy complain about SWF yesterday, it was me and my buddy and we weren't even in comms together because I couldn't be on mic, people are just mad others wanna play with friends most of the time.

Sorry, when a 30 second chase loses you the game, survivors don't get room to cry. "We just wanna play with friends" when it literally breaks the game. No other game on the market is broken by comms. DBD is. Don't even try to pretend it's not.

Oh you mean before mmr was a thing ? the same mmr that caused most of the players to quit.. Yeah things were way difficult back then obviously.

Don't waste your time listening to these people. Listen to me. The game is balanced for solo Q players. SWF is broken and the devs have acknowledged that.

There are 20+ killers in the game and most are useless, only there for new survivors to play against. You either play full meta or you lose. That's the reality. This isn't a game where your skill can carry you.

  • Spine chill, kindred, windows of opportunity. Those are probably the three best beginner perks. When to run, when to save, and where to run to.

Short story: Solving requires the game to be rewritten, dbd 2. Thats why wont happen. No anticheat can defend the game since its written such a faulty way, not suitable for multiplayer. Also for players this isnt big deal, for start most of still playing dbd, also the other half enjoying the cheats. Streamers said that on high mmr, up to 50% cheats in some way

It's the most thoroughly hacked game I have ever played. League had it's problems and they solved them within 4-5 months. This game just lets it run rampant.

You want to switch your meta build and try some fun build? Nope. Get tunneled.

Usualy whenever Killer notice that you don't run full meta build and you even run some strange / unusual / not common perks = tunnel.

Can't play without DS these days, can't we?

Not really. I mean as a killer you hit the bully 4 mans and if you are not running full meta you get stomped. And it's so unbalanced it kills your enthusiasm for the game. Then you go run full meta killer and survivors whine about it in the post game. There is no winning.

  • Pyramid head and Bubba, maybe other killers if I want to torture myself.

Pyramid is the go-to though, meta negated. I hear those uncage notifications and I'm rushing over there to tunnel

I just played a game where I got 3 people in the basement. Every person was running DS and unbreakable and I picked up all 3. That win was practically handed to me and I just lost because of perks. I don't think those perks should be nerfed it's just really unfortunate that I'm getting full stacked teams.

That's how it goes. 4% is actually the dumbest mechanic in the game, especially one that's attempting to be a real competitive one. It's like oh, you expended 2-3+ gens getting these hooks that should win you the game? Nah. 4%. Begin the second chance perk chain.

Luckily there is Pyramid Head. He is kinda the answer to everything if you don't wanna spam Nurse/Blight. Just make sure you hit BT as they come off the hook so they can't locker DS you before you cage them.
