If he gets a new strong add-on, he'll use that sometimes, instead of just the same ones people like to complain about all the time. They ask for something, and then they complain when they get it.

It still is sort of odd they gave it to Blight instead of some of the other killers who have literally all bad addons. Artist, Pyramid, Billy, etc all could have used some love before Blight.

Artists best addons are a brown and a yellow, you think they would have learned from Rat Liver but I guess not.

But not that I'm complaining, I absolutely love adrenaline vial and it's my new favorite addon for him. You can spend pretty much the entire game rushing which is awesome. Especially with endfury compound 33 so you just smash into everything with his face too, an ultra rare actually worthy of being an ultra rare is a luxury many killer characters don't have.

  • Still the only game I have played where I need to justify playing to win to people regularly

Nobody comes leaving -rep on my profile because I shot them in call of duty, that is certain

  • @Brokenbones said:

I don't think Dead Man's switch is all it's cracked up to be. It's a good perk, for sure

It'll catch you off guard maybe once, if you let go of the gen before a hook then wait out the crows she'll send towards the gen - what's the killer gonna do, keep spamming crows at you until the gen gets blocked? Then what?

It'll buy the killer crucial time sure but it's a stall perk, not a regression perk. It also encourages survivors to split up and do seperate gens which is bad for the killer

You can even use DMS against the killer, if the killer gets two hooks in a short time span, you can use DMS to block the generator to protect it from something like Pain Res

Yeah I'm honestly not a fan of it. We have kickable ruin now, why use a stall perk when you can have hard regression?

Call of Brine actually brought back 3 genning as a viable strategy, after CoH mostly killed it. You do Pop, Tinkerer, CoB on a 1 shot killer / Plague and it's such a nasty build.

DMS means I can't use Pop which is a big no-no. And pain res is too RNG for me to want to use. In a tight match if I get unlucky with the spawns I can basically be down a perk slot the whole game. Might as well gamble on a Ruin totem at that point.

Wake up only activates when all of the generators are completed so that won't work. Left Behind/Clairvoyance + Key is good though

Did that get changed? It used to work for door camping, I haven't used it since the buff though since I have enough keys right now. But reading the new numbers it would seem really good.

It didn't tell you where the gates are, which doesn't matter cause you are already standing at it, but the % speed increase still worked.

  • Left behind + key. Or if you don't have a key, then use wake up.

The new wake up is god tier for door camping at the endgame. You just let the killer find the hatch and boom, free escape a ton of the time.

Yeah, if you've been spam reported (I think Xbox is better at managing that now) or you're just a rude gamer under your gamertag it'll say "Needs work" and if you're really bad it says "Avoid me"

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/47M0O0LF7TGZ/screenshot-20220320-145436-7e2.png

Hahaha I've never been in trouble for in game, if I accidentally do an exploit Im like nope nope nope

Ah ok. Yeah I doubt it since I rarely go out of my way to talk smack. I will talk back but I'm never really the one initiating it.

I don't really consider ingame actions toxic, what's actually toxic is the salt you see there on my profile.

And yeah a dev posted it wasn't an offense, but I got a 1 day ban for it lol. For "holding the game hostage" because I guess the mori spam didn't cause the bleedout timer to keep going down. I think it was a salty 4 man mad I was stomping on their heads with clown for like 30 seconds straight before actually finishing the mori lol. He was 100% the best character to use for it

  • Me, I tunnel as every killer. Huntress actually gets Agi sometimes since she is so good at basement camping.

And I'm a filthy bamboozle Huntress too since I barely play her.

You can find your rep through Microsoft. It's not as detailed as what people leave on steam, but you can see how many times you've been reported for cheating, if your PFP and GT has been reported etc. If you have a Bad reputation it'll be plastered all over your profile for everyone to see and if it's really bad Microsoft tells people to avoid you (reminds me of when dbd was released on Xbox)

I have never heard of that. I know I have been reported for cheating a few times on Xbox DBD which is kinda omegalul. Some baby dwight was convinced I was a wallhacker because I found him in a locker that had crows on it.

The only time ive ever actually received any sort of ingame punishment was for mori spam, which was too funny not to do.

I don’t mind Lerry. Ar least it doesn’t have so many layers like Bahdam.

And if the basement is in the middle, it is not very hard to defend.

I think Lery's has one of the best basements in the game. The one in the main room is such a nightmare since you usually have 4-5 gens all sitting around it. You don't even need Agi + Iron grasp there to play a basement game usually.

People accidently vault into it a lot. I send myself there a ton as Bubba.

The library basement is still serviceable too.

Oh. I camp/tunnel/slug if someone DC's to move on. I still get ######### fests about "Omg ! We had a DC and you did that !"

Yup. I actually facecamp the 3rd survivor because I have had too many games where the last two will sit in lockers for like 15+ minutes to waste my time before I finally find one of them

On the one hand, it’s understandable Behaviour doesn’t tell you when other players are banned. It’s generally good practice to keep transactions between customer service and people they deal with private.

On the other hand, I definitely think Behaviour should seriously consider implementing a system where a replay file automatically gets attached to your ticket when you file a complaint. Players having to figure out how to manually record their own games and attach them on a web ticket outside the game is unnecessarily putting all sorts of additional hurdles on the players. If tickets automatically had a replay file attached behind the scenes that customer service could use for reference it would probably be very helpful for their reviews and also help get the evidence they need to ban more cheaters more efficiently. Not to mention also helping with things like being able to use those files to help with tracking down related bugs.

I doubt a replay system could be implemented at this point.

The ingame system would never work, because people will falsely report you for cheating far too much. It's why I actually leave my profile public, and even then ill still get people calling hacks who apparently cannot read perks / addons. There would be millions of false reports for the devs to go through.

I have also never seen a game so thoroughly hacked. Usually in games you just see aimbots instead of outright god mode + holding the game hostage.

The other problem is that tons of survivors are happy to have a hacker on their team. In a game like TF2 both teams will actively work to get rid of a cheating player. DBD the survivors will be teabagging at the exit gate along with the hacker half the time lol

  • @BrokenSouI said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/315063/killers-how-merciful-are-you

Not at all, ever. I used to be until the DBD community wore me down.

Realizing that probably a bulk of the people who I show mercy to. Were just as likely to tell me to go ######### myself. If they didn't get what they wanted.

That's where I am too. Even if people DC at the start it's still just faster for me to kill off the team and go next instead of mucking around finding the hatch.

Considering half the survivors in my games are just there to troll the killer, I don't feel bad at all tunneling survivors of my skill level. The only time I feel bad is if it's a player who is clearly new and SBMM somehow put them into my game still

Not true. Plauge gets 50/50's when her power is made available by survivors. The counter to plague now isn't much different from what it was before her buffs, just don't cleanse early game, and if you do have to eventually, do it in an area with a completed gen or where strong loops are still up. Good survivors make her power irrelevant, just as they always have. At least with Onryo, they have to interact to counterplay

Plague is super strong right now. Especially with call of brine making a 3 gen strat viable again. She can do "hit and run" with her puke better than any killer since they can't heal at all after being hit by the tinest splash. Tinkerer / Pop / Call of Brine / Thanta plague has been shredding survivor teams for me and it's definitely funny looking at 2-3 boons at the endgame screen that were completely negated.

If they don't cleanse they will have a super rough time breaking the 3 gen because you just walk up and instadown them w/ tinkerer. Pop + Call of brine usually buys you enough time to clear out the pallets nearby and after that it's going to be very rough for them.

Trying to compare her to Onryo is apples and oranges when it comes to power levels. She could never hold a 3 gen like that, the survivors will get out of the deadzone every time and go heal.

  • They could potentially be farming shards instead of trying to lower their MMR since I think shards are just playtime.

AFK killers are usually just Wraith and you might never be able to find where they are AFKing at before your team starts the EGC.

  • Killer I still find it fun to camp and tunnel, otherwise I would not play. Going for 12 hooks is a thankless job, puts yourself at a disadvantage, and you still get salty survivors no matter what. So might as well just full on tunnel people out starting at 5 gens.

Survivor has always been boring M1 simulator. Now it's just spacebar simulator. I would rather get tunneled than do gens, no idea why people complain about it.

3 hooks on 3 separate survivors means nothing. 3 hooks on the same survivor is a kill.

  • I do too. I guess we have RPD now but RPD is way too big for many killers to handle.

Coldwind is an atrocity. I hope they don't do any more daytime maps.

Solo survivor is unplayable, the game almost balanced around SWF

I have had some good teams, though it's actually a shock when you end up on a really good team. Solo I usually go in expecting to die, lol. So when the team ends up pulling off a clutch endgame save into a 4 man out or something it's probably some of the most memorable times in DBD.

Too bad the MMR doesn't really work because the consistency of the teammates you get is wild.

In League when I hit Platinum my teammates/opponents were noticeably good, every game. DBD I can still get people with like 50 hours on my team to face off into a killer with thousands and get butchered without a chance.

  • I think in theory it's actually Huntress. Since if you were a human aimbot you would be cross-mapping every single hatchet + skybox hits.

1st round today: a Meg which was doing exactly nothing the whole game except for standing in the corner and hiding. She had around 2000 points afterwards (while we had around 15k) and she ended up dying firsthook as the last person alive.

2nd round today: a Jake getting downed really quickly, trying to kill himself on the first hook. I unhooked him in the second stage, he started running around the map and dropping ALL the pallets on purpose.

3rd round today: the same as in the first round but with a kate. She unhooked me once and for the rest of the match, she visited all the lockers in the map.

All of them had at least 500 hours, the meg had even 2000. I don´t understand these people, if they don´t really want to play the game, why do they? Are they so frightened (with 2k hours ?!?!?!)

Do they just want to ruin the game for everyone else? Are they just (sorry) dumb?

I will say, the pecking order of DBD is as follows:

SWF > Killer > Solo Survivor

I play like a total wuss in solo Q and I have thousands of hours too, lol. Why? I have played the hero enough to know it usually just gets you killed. I will play altruistic in a SWF but for Solo's? Nah, immersing for hatch is a better strategy.

I still do gens but like I have people complain to me for stopping gens when the game is 100% lost and it's just going to a hatch game. Crazy that I will get the hate but not like the people who DC or suicide or go down in 10 seconds making the game completely unwinnable.

I wanna say these. Tunneling Pyramid Head, Facecamp Bubba, Tombstone Myers, Instant Chainsaw Billy, and Bulldozer Blight.

Mdwich is definitely where you wanna send yourself to these days imo. I always buy them since it's nice having a killer sided map to send yourself to.

Exceptions are tombstone myers (I think swamp is his best map b/c it's so easy to stalk on) and Bubba who can easily camp people to half so he gets a Mori to finish people off without having to eat DS.

NOED + NWO tombstone is probably the strongest of them.

Honestly, I am happy that it is hidden. Because otherwise we would have the same discussions we already had with Ranks "You are not Red Rank, you dont know anything!"...

I had someone questioning me that I am not at Rank 1 as Killer due to my opinions. I showed a screenshot and then they claimed that it is probably not me in the screen, despite having the same name...

Same stuff would happen with a visible MMR. "Oh, your MMR is only 1799, but under 1850 you dont have any idea what you are talking about".

Sure, but that was usually true. If you could not reach Red Ranks you probably didn't know what you were talking about. Rank 1 was trivial to get on both sides. If you could not get that....well why take their opinions on game balance seriously?

You would have people in here crying about Doctor and stuff, and knowing they were like rank 20 or something made it make a lot more sense.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Why should there be a benefit? There is no benefit of having high MMR for either side (maybe for Survivors to actually have competent teammates, but thats about it).

Because you are not actively working to get high MMR, MMR is the result of your games. You play to rank up, get BPs, have fun or whatever, and how you did while doing that is the side product-->MMR.

It is not there to reward anyone, but to have fair match-ups where players of somewhat equal skill level can play against each other. So the only "reward" would be exciting games, not those where you stomp 4 Survivors or you get stomped by them.

However, as we know how MMR is calculated and by many opinions on this forum, the system is not really working. As Killer I had a game where I won against some new Survivors very quickly followed by a game where I got 2 Hooks after 4 Gens were done on Shelter Woods (which is a good Map for Killer). Back to back, does not make any sense.

As Survivor I faced a godlike Blight in one game, followed by a Pig who did not know how to run any Tiles at all, making the first experience a quite bad one because of not having a real chance and the second one also not good, because it was way too easy and not fun at all.

So, yeah... assuming MMR would be actually working, you would not really get a reward, only balanced matches if you see this as a Reward. But it is a side-product overall.

    Bragging rights would be nice

It's probably only hidden because they know it doesn't work, hah

Yeah cause I play to win, and im good at it. Of course survivors don't want me as the killer. They want some baby they can bully.

And these people act like only survivors can BM? Pftt. I get BM'd like literally every game as killer. If I went and cried on peoples profile for every time I got teabagged at the exit gate my fingers would probably fall of.

Actually I got a few more pages for the salt diaries this month. These ones are mostly Bubba but I got some ghostface camping in there too.

Some lame ass SWFs sending me to busted maps crying about getitng camped. Haha I love it

  • @Bwsted said:

Most ppl who are calling killers facecampers nowdays don't even know what they are talking about, the killer is probably patrolling or normal camping at best, but even then they get called like that, ugh...

I agree. Imagine calling facecamper someone who's simply circling the hook in a 1 meter radius. ######### disgusting behavior from the survivors smh. #FreeBubba

    unnamed.png

Honestly I will say half of the comments are unjustified and simply salt. None of these were from an actual Bubba facecamp. "Ez win" when the game was a 2k which is a tie.

On Stadia, I notice that I miss 10-20% more of my hits than I do on Steam, but it's not too bad unless I'm playing with a ######### Bluetooth controller. There's a split-second of input lag, and some killers (Nemesis especially, due to his tentacle's tiny hitbox) are much harder to play, probably also due to my using a controller.

However, I'll shill DBD for Stadia until the day I die, even after I can play the game without a pesky Windows partition installed, for one reason: it's the definitive way to play DBD on mobile. If you have a controller for your phone, it's a hundred times more usable than the official DBD mobile game, and it has cross-progression with Steam.

    Sorry. Five cups of coffee.

Yeah, please feel free, if it's not too much trouble.

I feel like a lot of these posts are being written by people who don't play M1 killers. That's sort of the point of playing one; you are going to be running around from godpallet to godpallet, mindgaming when you can and kicking wood until there isn't any left. I get that some people don't find that fun (and sometimes it really isn't), but it's viable.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2857581#Comment_2857581

I just played a team where every single survivor had BT, DH, and DS. Didn't stop me from tunneling three of them to death.

Luckily, yeah, one of those three was really, exceptionally bad, and one of others apparently seemed to think he was an awesome looper, but he was not, so he went next. The third one was just okay, and I figured out pretty quickly that the Jill in the group actually knew how to play the game, so I avoided her until the end of the game, and she got out alive.

They were mad in the EGC, too. Their self-righteousness might have felt more justified if they weren't all running the best meta perks in the game and using them nonstop.

I come across teams like that fairly often, but they're rarely all excellent players. I don't know whether that's because I'm not in high enough SBMM yet or just that more SWFs than not are carried by one or two good survivors, but even with 3-5 health states each, I can manage if I'm on my game. The best teams will just have all the gens done within five minutes if the gods don't intervene on your behalf, but those are rare.

Like I said, though, I don't use Ghostie's instadown ability unless I have addons that can knock a couple seconds off of his stalk time (and then only usually when I have a daily), and I was still doing better, but I think I was just having rough luck. Last few games have been leisurely.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2857582#Comment_2857582

I tried to do more hit and running today in one of my games. I felt like I was playing well (got plenty of hooks), but only ended up with 1K.

I like to play for kills, so I don't know. I was satisfied with myself after the game ended even though it was an objective loss, because I felt like I played well even though I didn't win... but I didn't win.

I think I tried Brine/Pop/Dragon's/Eruption for that game, and it works fine. I've since replaced Eruption with Nurse's, and that always seems to get me an extra down or two if I remember to turn my terror radius off. I get a lot more out of Dragon's than I seem to with any other killer.

I could not imagine playing her without some chase perks. Her chase is just too weak to go into games without them. I need at least enduring or it will be pain simulator if the survivors turn out to be good at looping.

Like I have her at P2 now and don't have bamboozle and I literally refuse to play her until I get it. I don't feel like getitng dumpstered by poor map design and then bagged at the exit gate.

She is weak AF. Probably worse than wraith. You can still pubstomp baby survivors but good ones will kick your teeth in on her.

You weren't even here for the old DBD if you say that, recovering exhaustion while running, true instaheals, the old BNP, sabo made the hooks permanently gone and trappers traps ( which is why you can't sabo traps now), insta blind flashlights, keys, double pallet gyms, infinite windows etc... There's absolutely no way you can pretend like killers were feared back then.

Uhh I played 5 blink Ebony Mori nurse, I would say the killer was feared greatly back then. Way more than now. Although it was literally just Nurse and Billy most of the time.

Camping ebony mori wraith was pretty hilarious too, since it let you bypass both BT and DS and just mori fools straight off the hook.

  • @Brokenbones said:

You know I've been thinking about something recently and it's kinda funny

When you have DS and are actually getting tunnelled, you're actually sort of incentivised to... Go down? Lose the chase?

Like you get unhooked and killer starts chasing you again - let's say you manage to run them for a whole minute. You're still being tunnelled but because you managed to last a minute in chase, your anti-tunnel perk is gone now. So what do you do?

You either go down on purpose or jump in a locker

Am I crazy or is this something I've only just come to realise? I know most people when they have DS just do the whole "haha pick me then up" thing but I actually try to still run the killer as I'm sure many other people do as well

Uhh im pretty sure DS being used offensively is nothing new. People used to do it all the time before the nerf. Some people still get unhooked and then run straight to the killer to use it.

If I'm getting tunneled I definitely let myself go down if its about to run out, why not? I brought the perk. Jumping in a locker for it makes it too obvious imo.

  • Even better thought, why be able to join a lobby when you are not ready?

Forever Freddy was never a thing. His best slowdown add-on did like 5%, which is like 1 stack of Thana. He couldn't use Ruin if people broke it. He couldn't use Pop if people weren't giving him downs every 30 seconds. He couldn't get value out of his teleport if people were pushing separate gens.

Cmon. Everyone plays them because they are the best. What discussion is there to be had? If I was at my job I would be fired for this waste of time,

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Went against a Myers with 84 hrs last night. I have nearly 4000 and my friend has ~2000. Genuinely felt bad for them. Good thing they didn't have to wait in queue for another minute or two!

Some of the datamining posts I have seen on Reddit showed up to 5,000+ survivors waiting in Q per killer during NA east primetime. That's why the Q times are like 10-15 minutes at peak hours. I don't think it would be "just a minute or two"

  • Does it discourage tunneling? Not really. Does it punish it? Absolutely.

It scales with the team's skill. Eventually you have the matches where there are no weak loopers (usually vs. a SWF, the best players rarely waste their time in solo Q from what I have observed) . In those cases eating a DS is usually a game-losing event.

Eating it on a weaker killer is typically the nail in the coffin during a rough match. A select few killers are not really that impacted by it however.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Currently it's EndFury, PGTW, BBQ (I don't have all perks P3 on her yet) but I'm considering something like PR/BBQ/DMS/Enduring or PGTW/Sloppy/BBQ/Enduring

So long as Enduring is on her. That perk feels like a must after so long of playing killers where I don't get stunned

I need to crutch on enduring too. I play alot of M1 killers but they usually all have SOMETHIING to help. She just gets diddly squat and needs to eat pallets like it is her job to get anything done.

I'm doing Corrupt Pop Enduring Bamboozle, and she is a serviceable M1 killer with some mobility.

Still weak AF though. Most times I feel like im better off just running some Vigo's Journal blight and calling it a day. Or demo. Shred is literally better than her entire kit, let alone the portals. She gets torn up so much by dead hard and CoH.

It is kinda sad that Tinkerer Bubba is probably the best stealth killer in the game, but it is what it is.

  • Nah, I like solo Q being a free-for-all. It really makes the game more interesting.

There's plenty of games where you are hard strapped to your team for success and I prefer being able to play my own game and ignore the team if I want.

Also lol, complaining about Doctor. That's some low MMR gameplay right there.

Same with getting crows while hiding? I have literally never heard that complaint before. You can move around instead of being paralyzed in fear you know.

    Baby survivors I swear.

No, it wasn't a joke. Do you even play killer? At what point do you ask yourself, "Could I have done anything to win that match?" You can make basically no mistakes as killer, but the survivors have too many second chances which take up too much time, and so they all get out regardless. Doesn't ring any bells, or you just haven't hit that level yet?

Yeah, it's called play a better killer / build. Your mistake is typically at the killer selection screen.

Can you really expect to go into games with a weaker killer and off meta builds and beat full meta survivors?

There's plenty of ridiculously strong killer builds to choose from. One's that basically take a full meta SWF on comms to beat. Nurse? Hello? You pick that character and auto-win against solo Q. If you don't have dead hard against her you basically just die in 2 seconds if she is really good.

Same thing with any other top tier killer running meta builds. Auto wins against any survivors NOT running full meta. And they are basically auto wins against solo Q teams even if they do have the meta. Worst case they are typically still 2king. All it takes is one survivor getting tunneled and not having DS and the entire team dies.

Overall the game is pretty killer sided outside of SWFs. Solo Q is typically a slaughter. What other game are people going on 50+ winstreaks at their real MMR? It's unheard of in a game like League if you are not smurfing.

  • 1 shot killers. It's a waste on anyone else.

You overestimate Clown. At best, his slowdown forces the survivor to drop the pallet instead of looping around it 1 more time. His bottles barely help him around loops if survivors don't play greedy. Clown isn't OP under any circumstances, not even with Pinky Finger. If a killer can't win by chasing a kicking gens, and instead had to tunnel and force 2nd stage all the time, they're weak, and that's what Clown is. You're acting like he gets max value from his bottles every time, like whoever's playing him is a supercomputer. How does he have less counterplay than Artist? You can wave her ability off while you're running. And I guess those wall hacks from Cigar Box need nerfing, right, because All-Seeing Blood got nerfed?

Then you are not playing him correctly. With Bleach or Ether you can get hits at many normally safe pallets. Even when they are down. I naturally gravitate towards the stronger killers in this game and I put clown right up with them. There is a reason I play him so much. His lack of mobility is made up for purely through tunneling.

Regular clown play involves you just mindlessly throwing a bottle, and then the survivor throws the pallet and you kick it and repeat endlessly until you lose. But, as I said, a veteran player playing clown is what makes him good. You need to know every loop in the game. I know what pallets are safe, I know what pallets are not safe. I have played every map hundreds of times. Combine that with the skill to preemptively place the bottles. That's probably more than 95% of killers in this game, but I am at that level.

You cannot overstate consistency as a factor in a killers power. Pyramid head can be juked, Artist can be juked, Nemesis can easily be juked if you are not on top of your game. Clown cannot; the worst you can really do is land a regular bottle. The best you can do is force people to run through entire clouds. It's so much harder to screw up a clown bottle than a Nemesis whip.

And yes, Cigar Box is way better than All-Seeing Blood. 16m on a killer going 125% who can attack straight away compared to 8m on a killer who needs to ring the bell first.

My favorite streamer is doing MMR Winstreaks right now, and Clown is literally at the top. With 60 wins in a row. He also considers clown strong, is what I consider a veteran killer, and has 7,000+ hours.

    Clown.png

Barring a map entirely full of god pallets he is a very strong killer. The dev's themselves have decided he was too strong. I don't really need confirmation.

  • Nobody says you have to prestige? I only do it if I want the bloody cosmetics on that particular character?

The increased rarity rewards are negligible and have actually been straight up denied existence by some devs. They might not even exist for all we know.

I couldn’t tell ya. The game gets stale when one of those strategies get considered. 0 kills with 8 hooks is less skill than a facecamping Bubba with NOED 1-hooking two survivors in BHVR’s eyes.

Yeah I really do wish they went with hooks over kills for the SBMM. Kills are easy to cheese and encourages hella bland gameplay. I don't mind camping and tunneling as a killer, or honestly being camped and tunneled as survivor.

It's being survivor and just doing gens while someone gets camped and tunneled that I find outrageously boring because I have pretty much 0 input if I win or lose. You don't even have to hold M1 anymore, I need to see if you can fully AFK the gens with technician.

I can understand that. But that doesn't happen every game, or every other game. I see maybe one person bring boons every other game or so, sometimes more sometimes less. But I feel like I get a tunneler or camper every other game. Last 4 games have all been tunnelers , with the 5th being a camping bubba. What's even the point of playing then? May as well just go play killer and wait for friends to maybe possibly some day want to play the game so I can try and get the survivor challenges finished.

I don't blame you. I don't play solo Q anymore. I literally only play killer and SWF.

Camping and tunneling gets killers more kills than attempting 12 hooks, and MMR is a thing now so that's what people are gonna do. The DbD devs are attempting to make an E-sport out of an unbalanced party game and this is the result.

Super strong survivor perks that give the killer of all things an extra secondary objective just make it worse. The strongest killer characters can still mostly just ignore them, but it relegates the weaker ones purely into camping/tunneling to win. M1 killers don't have time to run around kicking boons or face crippling penalties, so it makes sense to just camp/tunnel people to death as a workaround.

  • Not many. Not many at all. NOED can be destroyed, Rancor has alot of preconditions. Bloodwarden / No Way Out / Remember me all are earned and are more like a slowdown than a second chance.

Compare to Unbreakable, DS, BT, DH, etc etc which can actively reward failure. They can be used for bold plays but in many cases they are just used to cover sloppy mistakes.

Also the hatch. Literally a participation award. Oh, your team got completely destroyed? Well here's a free RNG escape. Not that im complaining about it but that's what it is.

Deathgarden was even worse about it. You could AFK for 10 minutes as the people being hunted and still escape.

  • I would argue boons encouraged camping and tunneling more than any recent killer perk they have put out. I loaded into Midwich against 3 CoH/Shadowstep boons the other day and it's like yeah F trying to do anything other than camp or tunnel that match.

I could probably run around kicking boons nonstop and they would still be up around the entire map.

I personally like how hard it is to use, because it feels like I'm actually getting rewarded fairly for doing something that takes a lot more effort than "press m2, press m1" such as:

    • Nemesis
    • Artist
    • Trickster
    • Deathslinger
    • Clown
    • Pyramid Head
    • and more...

As I said, I get a lot of value out of it, even against visibly good Survivors (especially since Dead Hard is a lot less of a pain to deal with while still being somewhat present). And even if I don't get too much value out of it, every hit chain feels super satisfying because of the punchy sound effects while using it (every time I land one that satisfied groan Pinhead does right after is basically me). RNG can be a bit frustrating, but I find that this mainly only applies to indoor maps which, yeah, that sucks, but it's overwhelmingly fun with only a bit of frustration.

I love his character and his power. I think he has one of the best-designed powers in the game, especially when taking into account the box.

I guess but i'm not always loading into DBD to have to sweat my butt off for every single damage state. There is Nurse or Blight for that.

I don't think he's bad at all if you are landing every chain, but if you are landing every chain then you could be landing every blink. It's literally the same mechanic but with extra steps to damage someone and a few bells and whistles in the form of the box. I only play him because I am a hellraiser fan.

Hmmm, I wanna say something like this? Not really even worth mentioning the rest of the killers imo.

I would just have 3 tiers:

'really fun', 'ok i guess', 'don't play at all'

Yes, spirit is in the really fun tier, but third in position. Don't know where to place sadako yet though

Yeah that's kinda where I am at. I got my handful of killers and everyone else are there for daily quests. I am over Sadako already. Even if there is some super secret way to play her that I just cannot comprehend yet, I just can't be assed. Myers / Ghostface you just get the straight up down when you sneak up on someone.

It actually accomplishes quite a lot. There's a lot of decent loops that take a good amount of time to mindgame and possibly win which become near useless against Pinhead. It can even kind of deal with Shift W a little bit, you just need to know when is the right time to use it.

There is also the fact that you just can't use exhaustion perks while chained.

His M2 is a lot better than most people realize. I've had so much value from it even without Engineer's Fang.

Yeah but it's such a pain to use. Especially when you load into a survivor sided map like the game. Then you are basically needing to be pixel perfect for the effect of a clown bottle.

Good survivors will make it difficult to quickscope-chain them. And nothing is worse than RNG screwing you over and them just instantly breaking all 3 or even you being forced to break them yourself as you advance towards them.

I actually hate his power but I play him because I love the character. The only fun thing is the box. The M2 is some hot garbo. For the amount of effort it takes you should just play Nurse and slaughter everyone instead of getting a few seconds of slowdown.

See, Pinky Finger I at least see where people are coming from. They don't want to deal with instadowns. But beyond that add-on, I never heard people complaining about Clown's add-ons. Flask Of Bleach didn't even seem that strong to me. While I was using it, I was like, "Wow. If he's weak with this, how does he feel without it?" He's just one of those killers: very add-on dependent. And despite that, people want his add-ons nerfed. I'll never understand it.

He is very add-on dependent. But the difference between his best addons vs not is basically a different killer. 4 stock bottles is 8 seconds of slowdown per reload? Technically more if you hit the gas cloud right on them or force them to run through the entire cloud but to make things easy im not counting that.

6 bottles of ether is 18 seconds of slowdown. Literally over a 100% increase in power per reload. I don't think any other killer has that same dynamic.

Bleach made him very nasty in the hands of a veteran killer, making a ton of normally safe tiles very unsafe. And he did it so reliably as well. Pyramid head or Nemesis or Artist etc you can outplay but Clown? You eat a bottle and you drop that pallet or you take the hit. Very strong for how easy it was. Even if his skillcap is ultra high now.

It probably got hit because really good clowns were combining it with the yellow bottles and it was actually OP. I could see that even if I barely use his yellow bottles myself. Going with beefed up purple bottles was still enough to shut down all but the most obnoxious loops in the game relatively effortlessly.

Of course, lots of baby killers will tell you Clown is terrible because they don't use bleach or ether + extra bottles.

He also has the best wallhacks in the game right now. Cigar box is pretty nuts.

I'm pretty sure she is no stronger than clown, she is just M1 killer with all the counterable and unreliable side-effect which doesn't affect matches at all, she would stomp newbies and could have decent kill rate, but that's only because there is lot of newbies who don't know what she does at all.

Everything she does to survivor is basically counterable, nothing is actually threatening, everything is telegraphed, can disable powers entirely, it's pretty obvious she can't do well against anyone decent.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2850249#Comment_2850249

100 seconds, not 40 seconds, at least in PTB.

I would not put her on the same tier as Clown. Clown is way better. His power is definitely pretty strong in the 1v1 if you are tunneling people with it. Bleach clown just got nerfed it was so good.

Not to derail, but I don't think Otz ever claimed to go for 12 hooks all the time. That I think is more Trutalent's position, and they famously debated about it.

Tru likes to sanctimoniously preach about the 12 hook thing, but generally does poorly in challenges. I do not subscribe to the notion that killers should always strive for a nice even distribution of hooks, but I also will go a little out of my way not to drum people out of the game straight out of the gate.

And I have zero desire to play at top MMR, but those who do seem to play with a combination of camping and tunneling, I am more talking about dedicated camping being ineffective. Like I am going to find one surv, hook them and facecamp them to death and then do the same to the next sort of camping.

And I don't face as many sweaty bully squads because I will throw a few matches to lower my MMR when I start running into them with any sort of frequency. I don't play DBD to sweat (there are games I play with intensity, this is not one of them), I play for fun.

And tourney DBD is just horrible, imo. The least compelling version, imo.

Also, I take your word that you do well, but out of genuine curiosity, how does it go when you hook/camp someone and the rest of the team just leaves them to die and slams gens? How often does this happen? Does this even happen often, or are people too driven by altruism?

Well it's not like I actually facecamp on most killers. That's mostly a Bubba thing. It doesn't really work on anyone else unless you are standing above the basement (is that even face camping though?) or got a hook on a hill with a killer like Huntress or Trickster. And even then it's 2k material unless you have a dedicated build for it. NWO / Rancor / Deadlock / etc etc is how you hard camp and actually get 3ks and 4ks.

I would say I more like proxy camp, id only actually be right next to the hook if they are like seconds before death or half state. Then ill probably be bodyblocking anyone running up rather than hitting them.

Typically the play is to 3 gen wherever your first hook is and then proxy camp. Usually ill make the run to the nearest gen to go pop it and get a hit or something. But then go straight back. In rough games I will have lost 2-3 gens before corrupt was even over for the first hook anyways so there might not be much else to do at that point. Especially on weaker killers. From there camping/tunneling is literally your only option to win. You switch targets and it's GGs. You might as well tunnel for the 2k at that point.

And honestly, depending on the killer it's not like you have a choice. When the survivors slam 3 gens before corrupt is over while someone drops god pallets against your M1 killer for your first chase and what else are you gonna do? It's crazy people think you have a choice. Unless your choice is to roll over and give the survivors a free escape. Games like those I usually consider a loss and legit facecamp and tunnel for the 2k cause it's not like I am gonna get much else done in the 1.5 minutes I have left.

I suppose it comes down to preference, but I find camping boring, and I don't think it's all that effective as a primary strategy. As a combo strat? Sure. But if you start camping from the start and the surv team sees what you are doing and is good, they will hurt you for it.

I might camp in the EGC, or if the squad is bombing the hook (which isn't really camping at that point). But going into a game planning on camping from the start? Nah, not for me.

But most of the time, I am not a "play to win" guy, I can get competitive, but DBD isn't a game that reflects skill all that well, so I don't feel driven to win like I do in some other games. I only camp during the EGC, and only rarely tunnel (if I am feeling spicy and am losing and trying to pull a game back), and only slug to 4K if I have a tome challenge or the survs rubbed me the wrong way.

And yeah, the tribalism in this game is such that many are going to dislike you regardless, but not always, and if someone really, prolifically camps or tunnels, you file that name away for future reference.

I dunno. I do it almost every game and I win most of them. You can watch Pro Vengeance camp/tunnel his way to 50+ winstreaks all the time. That's actually who I learned how to do it from.

I don't watch Otz but I refuse to believe he got those streaks playing for 12 hooks. You know he 100% "confirmed" some kills or was apologizing profusely to the survivor mains on his channel as he tunneled some people to win.

And we can agree to disagree. When I check my lobby and it's your usual bully SWF with 16x meta perks trying to finish all the gens in 4 minutes and then teabag and talk smack in the endgame chat. No, I don't feel bad about it. Not in the slightest. You won't ever win those games doing anything else unless you are spamming Nurse 24/7.

Playing nice at my MMR? You get the Truetalent experience when he tried to play nice against that tourny squad. Getting slapped and 4 man outed with 2-3 hooks lmao.

And really I don't mind doing it at all and honestly enjoy killing people first hook when I can, especially in the basement for the thematic part of it. That's just called efficiency.
