Could that not be said for basically every killer?
Not really. I didn't have to ask questions or research how to play against any other killer's power in all the time I've played this game. With the Unknown, I actually had to ASK someone how his power works and how to play against it here on the forums. There's literally nothing intuitive about his power that would tell you that looking at him will make it go away

Damn, learning how to play against the Unknown must be really confusing. I had trouble learning how to play against Xeno, tbh, I have problems with killers who are extremely oppressive in chase.
Though now that I think about it, I guess this means you've missed the Blood Moon event? Truly unfortunate, friend. It was a really good event, and it had one of the best main menu backgrounds ever.
Yeah, I missed the blood moon thing. I heard some people actually enjoyed that

Yeah, I've taken two extended breaks from DBD before.
First one was shortly after the first RE chapter released. That was around the time when many of the Old DBD things were getting reworked, removed or changed and it really had a negative impact in my experience.
The second one was in 2023. Mostly because I was interested in other games. So yeah, that means I wasn't here for the original Skull Merchant. Actually when I got back to the game there were four new killers to learn, and a long grind ahead because I wanted to get my Freddy to P100.
I think I stopped playing shortly before the Alien chapter and then picked it back up around the time Dracula came out? Hated learning how to play against Chucky, Drac, and the Unknown (the Unknown especially because without researching, how would I know I need to look at him while being chased to get rid of his power???)
-
The DBD community is sadly full of boring people as well as people who are out to just make others miserable.
My experience has pretty much been the same and it's insane to me that when there's a whole normal queue, people go completely out of their way to queue up for a holiday event queue and slug everyone to came and tunnel or do gens and leave immediately.

For real, had a match with Clown earlier tonight and my main plan was to equip Surge and get that 8 damaged gens tome challenge done in a jiffy. Well, RNG brought us to Eiry and the game lasted 8:30min with 3 hooks. Those survivors were cracked and out for blood! But 8:30min … oof, should a Clown match be that short?
Well, the next match brought us to the Yamaoka family estate and even though the survivors got an early flashlight safe, I totally tabled them and got three kills, all within the void, ain't that funny? I bet there is a joke somewhere in there.
That last survivor never got hooked and I escorted that Sable to the exit gates and she escaped at … wait for it, 8:30min … oof, should a Clown match be that short?
But at least it was all perfectly balanced - but in a totally crooked and twisted way. Clown lauged - but was not amused.
Sounds like a good amount of time. After all, 7 minutes is all Wesker has to play
-
What's the term for when something gets removed so the game can be better?
Oh yeah, killswitch. The best Cenobite change would be a permanent killswitch
-
You ain't cooking bro. The "consequence" of following Ghostface to knock him out of his power is that he gets an indication of the direction you're looking at him from and he can just turn to you and now you're the victim of chase.
-
The biggest issue with DBD events are the DBD playerbase tbh.
It's crazy to me that people will go to an entirely separate game mode specifically designed to get challenges done and not interfere with regular lobbies and still slug you for 4 minutes and W+S over your body until they feel like using their Mori.
Even with the broken Ghost ability killers get, it would be fine if people didn't play like jerks. (And I already know the defenders of jerk behavior will come into the comments with the "people can play how they want since they paid for the game" crap but it doesn't make the behavior any more justified
-
I feel like this conversation comes up once a year, every year and then gets ignored. There's literally no reason the killer should see a survivor's name prior to the game.
Items? Fine. Character? doesn't matter but fine. Names? there's no justification for it and though there aren't massive amount of cases, there are some cases where killers target specific people because they know who they are from a previous game or they know the streamer's name -
Huntress is both the most fun killer to play AND the most fun to play against.
The only other killer I would put on par or (maybe slightly) higher would be playing against a Billy that only uses Chainsaw.

If the game were as simple as just "constantly see survivors and know where to be" then the meta would consist of the top four aura perks. But go play any killer that isn't Nurse with such a build and you'll see why it isn't
I've played Huntress with full aura build for years and regularly wnd with a 3k or higher. You really don't need gen slowdowns if you constantly know where people are and don't waste time in deadzones
-
Easily SM, Knight, Twins, Deathslinger, Trickster, Sadako, The Dark Lord, Chucky, Xenomorph, The Unknown, Singularity, Legion, Cenobite, Clown....did I miss anyone?
Can't stand about half the killer cast tbh. Pretty anyone with an annoying power, slugs for a living, or who is too oppressive in chase is boring to play against
-
Simple answer, people are boring. Literally yesterday when I played, some guy decided to slug me to kill A BOT that had DC'd in the first 30 seconds of the game. slugged to kill a bot…… a bot. like i need people to understand how silly and stupid it is
-
He's kinda busted and there's little counterplay to him. There needs to be higher cooldowns on him going back and forth between Bat, Wolf, and Vampire form
-
The way I see it this has to be split into 2 categories: Range vs melee
The gold standard of a fun but strong range killer is easily Huntress.
For "melee", I'd say Billy, Oni, or Demogorgon tbh. I can actually have fun against them in chase
-
A blast mine hater? :(
Sorry, nothing is funnier to me than when someone puts Wiretap on a gen with a Blast Mine and I get to watch the killer get their vision blown out. Even when it happens to me on killer, I do a quick spin and start nodding to whoever I know is watching -

- Not illegal. They literally hold the rights to change the game however they see fit
- Glad she got nerfed. Wouldn't care if she got permanently kill switched tbh because the character is annoying, boring to play against, and everyone who plays here somehow manages to play in the scummiest ways possible 🤷🏾♂️
-
It isn't necessary to nerf SWF groups because killers overall are winning anyway.
The ones who aren't, hate to say it, but it's a skill issue. Actual good killers are winning regardless and they've released stats to back that up a few times now.
-
Well Bungee gum has both the properties of rubber and gum....oh we aren't talking about HunterxHunter spiders...
-
I just played a match where 4 people ended up in a cage within a 30 second time frame so yeah…. it was impossible to recover at that point, especially playing solo and not knowing what everyone else is planning on doing.
I also figured out the hard way that if Billy is just close by and revving his chainsaw, his teammate can get an instadown? and that was kinda insane and sad since I was the last person alive and looking for hatch and not expecting wraith to 1 tap me XD

Adrenaline got nerfed so that's been left alone now. I think the main complaints seem to centre around Distortion and Windows of Opportunity on the killer side, and Weave Attunement on the survivor side. With the Unknown, you can dispell his hallucinations to stop him being able to teleport, and also looking directly at him will slowly remove weakness. I don't mind going against him. Also, welcome back.
thanks. that actually helps alot. Had no idea you could remove the weakness or get rid of the hallucinations

If you're getting a minimum 3K every game your kill rate is above 75%. That's not what these stats show.
60% kill rate is still a 2K average on a per-game basis, which is a loss for the killer. To translate to an average 3K, the kill rate would need to be above 62.5%.
Win rate =/= Kill rate. This isn't a symmetrical game where if one side loses the other side must have won. In this asymmetrical game, it is possible for both sides to lose, and both sides to win. A 3K is a win for the killer and a survivor, a 2K is a loss for for 2 survivors and the killer. There are 5 players per game, without an even number of players you can't have an even win rate.
A win for the killer translates to 75% kill rate or more per gamen or 62.5% average. A win for survivor is that particular survivor escaping, or 50% average. It's not comparable.
In order to keep an even win rate, the kill rate has to be higher than 50%, and lower than 62.5%, purely based on number of players per game.
The problem is that because of this asymmetrical format, both sides lose more than they win. Killers are losing more than they win if their kill rate is below 62.5%. Survivors are losing more than they win when their escape rate is below 50%. There is a 12.5% overlap where nobody is happy, and that is the reason why both sides think the game is biased against them. That's why as players, we all need to accept that this is not a game you're supposed to win a lot. Winning is a challenge. For both sides.
This is precisely why I'm happy playing survivor, and playing solo survivor, even when I'm not escaping most of the time. I'm not expecting to escape 50% or more, if I was that would imply the game was far too survivor sided.
It seems like so few people get this. Everyone saying the game is grossly killer sided, or grossly survivor sided, or that kill rates should be 50/50, simply do not understand the game they are playing.
You should be fighting to survive, against the odds, not expecting that you will.
We can just agree to disagree fundamentally on that because I'm unsure who decided that 75%/3k is the criteria for a win but I disagree. A 2k that ended with 7-9 hooks is still a win and a close game in my books but that's where I'm sure we just disagree on mindsets.
And with the way I play survivor, especially against a really strong killer, if I'm able to make a play that allows even 1 person to escape because I kept the killer occupied long enough or took them far away enough for a teammate to complete an objective, that's a "win" in my book. But again, that's just a mindset thing and I can see your definition of winning is different from mine.
My whole point was that it seemed like a silly argument to say that one side of an asymmetrical game should be this monumental challenge but for some reason, not want the other side to be???? That was my confusion
-

Why shouldn't escaping be difficult to acheive?
Survivors have an all-or-nothing goal, while for killers its modular. If a 4K (max score for killer) should be difficult and occur less than 50% of the time, then surely managing to escape (max score for survivor) should be more difficult than 50% as well.
Why shouldn't killing most of the survivors be difficult to achieve?
I don't understand this argument. You want one side of the game to be hard but the other side easy? Why not aim to make both a challenge? If I'm default getting a minimum of 3k every game while barely trying, the game is too easy
-
Oh wow. It's almost as if (this is not me yelling but more of a neon billboard for all to see)
PEOPLE PLAY "SWF" TO HAVE FUN WITH THEIR FRIENDS
The argument that people have been running for years that people only play with friends for a competitive advantage of some kind has always been wild (and wrong) especially since people make more silly plays in a SWF than they usually would for a random.
Does information get shared? Sure it does. But that information means very little when
-We're talking about celebrity crushes
-I have 4k hours and they have 400 maybe
-my friend is in a locker waiting for a head on stun so we can both laugh about something in this game that people take way too seriously
-

So I faced a pyramid head they decide to camp hook since they learned they can just stay FAR away and still make it to the hook easily. So my teammate decides to kill themselves on hook instead of just waiting since it helps us out okay annoying but hey I get it. Now we're down to two gens and I've been looping this guy since all he's been doing is camping. Then I get hooked and see he's camping since last gen popped meaning no free escape. Then I get rescued he decides to tunnel me...I'm sorry but if this is because you only got one kill its because you didn't bother just leaving the hook sight. I'm sorry but I know there's more soft core tunneling where you hit the just rescued survivor to slow the game down(just a little bit) but why tunnel I feel like most people who camped should realize your probably going to get one kill by doing that.
Short answer: A large portion of this player base is boring and play with the intention of ruining the game experience of the opposite side and write it off as "strategy" or find some other random reason to justify boring gameplay
-
The is and always had been mid. It's only extra powerful when pair with Hope during endgame 🤷🏾♂️
It's a B tier perk
-
Attractiveness + shorter and easier to hide. When I do play a male, it's Adam because he is a Black male teacher just like me 🤷🏾♂️
-
Honestly just try to have fun. I hardly play anymore because everyone takes the games to seriously at higher levels so appreciate the baby killers while you're still a baby survivor.
Play what perks you like, meta doesn't matter.
Go for goofy plays, reset pallets, Sabo hooks, do fun things
At some point, play killer because it gives you a better perspective of what the killer sees when YOU are the survivor.
Find a friend to play with because solo queue is pain
-
As a We'll Make It user, if I follow you for more than 3 seconds and you don't stop running and the killer isn't anywhere near us, I've started to just walk away and let them die. I'm now going on a round the world tour to give you the 8 second heal I couldn't done and moved on from in the time it took you to run wherever you ran. Half the times, they end up running INTO the killer
-
@Nun_So_Vile said:
Did you queue up for another one after this hoping it would be better or was that the last one after the outcome? If you did, did you at least get more points next game to make up for low score this game? lol
Lol so funny thing is I did queue up for a game after this because I couldn't end on that. The next game started off fine against a Blight.
He gets a hook, we get a gen. He goes for a 2nd hook and I sabo the hook. Well he took that personally because he decides to hook me and then HARD tunnel me off hook every time I got pulled. And I mean like, he was in chase across the map and I could see on the HUD that the chase ended as soon as I got unhooked and he came zooming back. Hit the person who saved me and then came after me again.
So that was an 8k BP game XD

I did read it but even then, these are so few BP. Did you all spawn right next to the Clown? And did none of the others even attempt to work on a gen. Because when they ran into the killer that should have triggered chase. And that would naturally give them a small BP boost.
Idk, I'm solo queued so I can't say exactly what they did but you don't get a lot of BP on survivor no matter what you do. I've had entire games play out and escape with like barely 15k BP and other games where I have like 24k so it's so finnicky.
But just using game sense and what I saw on the hud, after that first down, the other two got downed back to back within seconds so I assume they just ran to the killer and died on purpose
-
@Xernoton said:
How did you even manage to die that fast? No offense but this looks like you all ran right into the killer to die as fast as possible.
I'm honestly shocked.
I'm guessing you didn't..... read what I wrote XD
After 1st person got downed and hooked, the other 2 ran to the killer and got downed together. it's literally in the post above but i guess that was too much to read lol

No need. There are few perks that help you with slugging or againts it even. Killers who run this perk will more likely to slug, however that can also backfire them.
"Greedy" going for more Survivors around js risky and Survivors can pick themselfs up or with help other teammate while the Killer is chasing someone else.
It's a personal preference and I know there's counterplay. I just want to have fun tho and find slugging boring. I'm not saying it's OP or anything, just something i hate to see XD
-
He's one of the few killers where I debate instantly DCing as soon as the match starts and I hear that loud ass noise to let me know i'm about to have a boring, drawn out match XD
-
Probably no nerfs but just delete Infectious Fright. Not because it's OP, but just because everyone who uses it, uses it to slug
-
I hardly ever get less than 3 kills as Huntress and Doc who are my 2 mains. I literally have to throw to get less than a 3k

Take a break and Play something else. There are tons of games online, in stores to purchase and play. DBD is not the only game.
The longer your break the easier it is to come and go as you please. It's a video game it's meant to be fun if you're not having fun PLAY SOMETHING ELSE this goes for both sides.
Yeah, i learned this about a year ago or whenever Knight came out. I dropped the game completely and only played like once a month since then for an hour or two before i realized why I stopped playing in the first place and go back to Overwatch, Apex, Fortnite, Resident Evil, anything/everything else

Do you know what else is unfun? Following survivors around a loop that is totally safe, which is then linked to another safe loop. Or how about endurance bs being used to rob the killer of hooks? You don’t get to claim you meant to address both sides when your OP read like a survivor raging about a game they had today.
there is literally no situation in which you CAN'T catch a survivor unless you're bad or you've reached end game using a slow killer and they have multiple perks stacked to increase their speed so the situation you're describing is literally just made up. The situations I described happen daily

Your entire rant was from the perspective of a survivor player disliking the killer playing for a 4k. You told on yourself.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3507818#Comment_3507818
Every game has a meta. When you choose to use off meta builds, you have to accept that you will win less. If you don’t like it, quit.
I mentioned the survivor perspective because that's the role where the fun you have gets dictated for you by how the killer plays. In the examples I gave that happened today, a person being camped in the basement doesn't get to choose how the remainder of the match plays out. It also forces the remaining players to rush gens (which is boring) or trade on hook (also being unfun).

Where does the thread start with it? They gave an example on how people are sweating in their games against non-sweating players. If it would have been the other way round (survivors sweating against a non-sweating killer) it would have made no difference. Once again, they happen to notice it mainly on the survivor side.
They kept addressing that it is a COMMUNITY issue. Not once did they say that this is a killer issue...
Thank you for actually reading and understanding what I'm saying. I genuinely don't care about living when I play survivor and I also don't care about getting 4 kills when I play killer. I want a fun game on both sides that just involves playing the game in a way that doesn't require playing "efficiently" every time I turn the game on.

You can thank the survivor mains for the current state of the game. They cried and cried to get gen regression gutted, and this is what you get. Killers have to play optimally to win. It doesn’t matter if chasing is the most fun part for you; winning is fun for the killer.

“Im just gonna go in for some good chases, and what happens, happens”??? What?
what does that even mean? What are good chases for you? The survivor loops the killer endlessly? The killer end the chase in 2 seconds? Im not getting what’s a good chase to you.
What I said was pretty self explanatory. The chase should be the fun and focus of the game, not "how many kills can I get and what's the easiest and most boring way I can possibly get them"
What happens, happens means we need to stop worry about "win/lose". That's why this game is becoming so boring and sweaty.

This is why I try to find objectives of the survivor fun rather than the killer... I run funny gen builds or chest builds because I can enjoy the game a lot more messing around for value on perks. If I was running a "standard" survivor build I would probably be miserable too
My literally build is " Saboteur, Plot Twist, Any Means Necessary, Well Make It" (Diversion before Plot Twist came out) I certainly don't play meta or worry about "standard" survivor builds. Players in the game just make the game boring by playing in the most unfun ways possible, that's it
