Not much to this.
I don't think the game can be played at an average casual level anymore. I don't think you can really come home from a long day at work and play a couple of games on either role without the game being more trouble than it's worth.
Whether it's problematic Killer designs that are unfun to play against (Legion and Twins), overtuned characters (Blight and Nurse), Skull Merchant or even just the Killer being outright better than you, the casual Survivor experience is bad.
Whether it's teams that force you to play tactically and try hard, people who abuse certain bugs, people who just like to be frustrating (Boil Over) or just plain good teams; the causal Killer experience isn't much better.
I think that should change for both roles. I don't think you should need to sink 6 hours into a play session whilst being hyper-aware and uber competitive in order to have a chance to have fun.
the crazy thing is I literally came here to say this. I just spent 2 hours playing survivor and didn't enjoy a single game because every killer wants to camp, slug, tunnel, sweat, and it's impossible to just open the game and have fun doing event quests.
Literally first game, the Singularity with iron grasp carries someone to the basement, puts pods all around and inside shack and then just goes into sleep mode right in front of the basement hook. Why do people have to make this game so damn boring and insufferable.
-
Literally any killer with STBFL and you'll be the best tunneler and camper ever. for whatever reason people love making the game boring -_-
-
Rainbow map should have infinite charge unless it's combined with the add on that allows you to see the killer aura.
I'm sure they can program it the same way that Myers Infinite Add On works with the iri tombstone, but not the purple tombstone piece
-
All I can say is learn the 20/80 technique.
Depending on the killer, you can sometimes open the door up to 20% progress without the light coming on, wait for them to check your door and then immediately hop back on after they leave.
It's very precise but it's gotten me out of so many matches. Obviously it's not very usually against killers like Nurse, Blight, Oni with rage, or Spirit, or killers who can lay traps but it works against the other 4 killers XD
-
Yeah, they pretty much want you to buy all the characters because grinding shards is a slow process and you get VERY little and they don't give them out for free often
-
I hit them once then leave them alone and play normally. If they start to get crows and the explosion noises begin to happen, they go on hook cuz that noise is annoying
-
Yeah, they definitely messed the coding up on this one because even with saboteur, I have a hard time figuring out when the pain res is about to go off because the timing of the scream and the hook are out of sync
-
That's pretty standard for a Snooze Merchant match. that's how they all play XD
-
Prestige doesn't equal skill regardless of how you feel about it. My highest prestige is like 38 and I have a friend with a prestige 76 and she's dogwater at the game. She just plays more and dumps all her points into one character
On top of that, if you're not having fun as killer, that's on you. I rarely have a killer game that ISN'T fun but that's because my fun is based on chases, not getting 4 kills at the end of a match like some of the community
-
I think it's a big issue when kills are the main qualifier for a win or loss because it doesn't give a full description of what happened in a match.
A 2k could be you tunneled 1 person all match, then you used NOED to get a 2nd kill at the end. And to me that's way different from a game where you had everyone on death hook, got 2 kills and the other 2 barely escaped. The latter, I'd definitely consider a win
-
So my current build on every character for probably years at this point is:
We'll Make It, Saboteur, Diversion, Any Means Necessary.
I've yet to find perks worth taking any of those off until now so I'm sorry..... but We'll Make It has to go

It is not happening to players that tunnel, play without tunneling and you will loose 90% of your trials.
False. I do not tunnel and end the majority of my games with 3k or more. If you HAVE to tunnel to get kills, you're just not good enough.
To OP, if you lose games for 2 days straight.... that's literally just a skill issue. Get better at the game
-
@ReverseVelocity said:
Another issue I find with the perk is that the fact it only shows the auras of hooks when a survivor is picked up gives you a lot less time to plan ahead. I'd like it if it revealed auras when someone was put into the dying state.
As much as I love the perk, I think that'd be too strong. I think it's in a good balanced place where you only know about scourge hooks AFTER the first pickup and can plan ahead when it's worth running to sabo a hook
-
I think a lot of people confuse strategy and fun in this community for some reason.
Literally no one has ever said tunneling is cheating, exploiting, non-viable. It's just boring as hell and unfun to go against. That's literally been the complaint the entire time. This isn't some grand discovery you came across
-
I just got in a match with a Wraith who used the expose power in chase and I have to say that was the most BS thing I've ever encountered.
-
I get the whole "i grinded to get these things" argument but like..... do you really care? do you ever equip them? no, because they're ugly and give away your position when you try to hide behind things. so really you're just tryna gatekeep, let's keep it real

ew, gross. who decided these things XD

best event ever if u ask me! been super fun so i just haven't care that much about the power difference. With that being said the expose ability combine with the break pallet ability make u automatically die at most loops. Most people don't even use the expose ability in my games tho for some reason
i didn't know there was an expose ability until like 2 games ago, but they said you have to hit bloodlust 2 in order to get it
-
Inherently, not really.
And my reasoning is that while communication certainly helps, it doesn't accommodate or make up for skill. When I play with my less skilled friends, I can literally tell them what the killer is going to do next and my friends will still play right into it because they don't have the game sense and fundamentals nor do they want to be told how to play so they play the way they want to.
Even outside of that, the majority of the conversation is one person talking to/reading their chat while they stream (either me or one of them) while the rest of the squad jokes around and gives drops of communication about what's happening in game. So no, I don't think discord SWF = automatically unfair/unbalanced matches

It's a suggestion of what event powers could have been alternatively. If you could sabotage hooks with the invitation it would be a lot more useful than blocking the window possibly, and a decent counter to the expose power killers have atm.
ah okay. i read it sarcastically like "just sabo hooks 4head"
-
@JustAnotherNewbie said:
Imagine if you could sabotage a hook from 6m or something.
what does sabotaging a hook have to do with the event powers???
-
Good.
1. It was always dumb having to drop items to pick up a special item and then pick it back up
2. Franklin's on Pinhead was always a dumb concept to begin with and should have never been allowed
3. Vaccines are tiny so it makes since tonbe able to carry that while carrying a toolbox for example 🤷🏾♂️

Have you not noticed how HARD the gen perks got slaughtered? There’s basically no good slowdown left for killer to run now.
you don't need stacked slowdowns if you're actually good at the game though. I literally run Ruin on Myers as my only gen regress and get 3ks just fine.
Huntress with no slowdowns (although she doesn't need them) and I get 3ks and 4ks
Nurse.... well she's just busted so you can run anything on her and win.
The point is, those slight nerfs to a few gen regression perks pale in comparison to the massive survivor nerfs

Every time I turn the game on I usually see folks trying to toolbox me to death so nothing has changed really.
Trust me, it used to be worse. If you think Prove thyself and resilience are popular now, they were pretty much standard back then with DH, adrenaline, or something else to help in end game
-
Killers won't need anti-healing because healing is already bad. literally 1 sloppy butcher will be the death of healing and the other 3 slots are free for whatever
-
I play Huntress with no slowdowns and my games go fine
Of course if you play Myers who needs time to build his power, gens are going to fly. It's why I use Ruin on Myers and make sure I'm interrupting gens in the early game while I get my stalk. Once my power tiers up, I can play out the game as normal
-
The survivor HUD has literally no effect here. I could already tell when a gen was at 70% based on the bar.
-
PGTW never went away. It's been an option the whole time.
The community is just dramatic af
-
Eruption never encouraged killers to not camp.
If anything it encouraged them to pick a 3 gen on frame 1 of the match and camp harder
-
Aye! Congrats! Welcome to the club. We're all in pain here XD
-
I read this twice and am still looking for the part that pleases both sides.
As killer: I now have 15 free seconds to go use Pop Goes the Weasel or whatever gen regression perk I use AND can still come back to the hook and camp now without worrying that the survivor has a chance to get off hook.
I get a speed boost when I'm already faster than the survivors AND bloodlust still exists
I get a free totem slot where I can stack on top of the 4 perks I'm already using
I get free time in the early game which is arguably the most important on both sides by having gens go at half speed (meaning it'll take 105 seconds for the first gen to get done if I did the math correctly)
You're suggesting every hit cause a 10% reduction to survivor interaction speed so that's what.... roughly 3 stacks of Thana basekit??? I can already see a Legion running Thana on TOP of your basekit suggestion so that'll be fun
A Circle of Healing nerf
And on the survivor side, I would get basekit unbreakable (which the Devs are already working on and plan on giving us anyway)
Player icons (which the Devs are already working on and plan to give us anyways)
A buff to Resilience but you already said you're removing the gen speed buff from perks so what would be the point of resilience anyway (not to mention no one cares about this buff because working while injured is a risk most new players can't take advantage of)
And basekit Kindred which is meaningless if you have Player Icons telling you who is on a gen, who is cleansing a totem, who is in chase, etc. Yes Kindred also shows you everyone's exact location but that's just extra information if you already know what everyone is doing.
So what exactly is the benefit that's going to make both sides happy here?? Because this just seems like yet another massive killer buff and a survivor nerf to a good perk and a buff to a weak perk.

I mostly mentioned it because he needs to spend 8k worth of addons to even attempt it, when challenges generally have little to no investment requirement. It just feels like its not worth being upset over when the community's attitude is something that has been around for ages, and likely won't change as long as it is both allowed and encouraged. This just isn't a game that encourages sportsmanship sadly, even though there are plenty within it who still try.
That's fair. and because it happened yesterday, I'm not really bothered by it so much. It just became fresh in my mind because my friend is working through her winter challenges now
-
@HugTechLover said:
Try getting the tombstone myers achievement.
I did. It sucked. Why do people always take one experience and do the "oh well if you think that's bad... this is worse" XD ok i guess but what does that have to do with this
-
@Ryuhi said:
What do survivors lose by being the 4th mori from a tombstone myers? The consensus in that topic was a lot of people not caring about others. That type of attitude is in the entire community regardless of side.
That said, they might not have even known that was a challenge, btw. I don't think its worth getting worked up over, especially since the commitment required is pretty low. You got it in the end as well, so at least its over with :)
Oh I agree. Getting that Tombstones Myers achievement was an absolute pain in the ass and one of the most frustrating DBD experiences I've had. This wasn't meant to be a Survivor vs Killer post, but a question of why the playerbase in general chooses to go out of their way to inconvenience others
-
But..... these things don't stack because once you enter the mending state, you can't use any of those?????
Is this an old post from 2019 or something you had saved in the drafts???

Furtive Chase switches the obsession when the obsession is unhooked.
Right, I know that. But even when 1 person was JUST hooked, and the other 3 of us were healing each other, he would have no terror radius.
When he hit someone who wasn't the obsession, his terror radius would randomly disappear when no one was being unhooked. He spent about 70% of the match with no terror radius and it was strange

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/357926/so-when-is-the-killer-meta-changing
None of the killer meta perks from before the 6.1.0 patch are still meta.
All of the survivor meta perks from before the 6.1.0 patch are still meta.
At least according to the official stats. So i don´t know what you´re talking about.
Pain Res still gets used every other games
Pop, is used less but still I see it every 3-4 games.
DMS is still in every 2-3 games.
So I don't know what you're talking about pretending these perks aren't still being used
-
I don't know what it is about this weekend specifically but the games have been AWFUL.
Wesker using a snowman to camp hooks without a terror radius
An artist hooked me in basement with 4 gens still left, slugged the person who traded with me and left them IN BASEMENT to chase me all the way across Ormond to the opposite corner from shack just to tunnel me
A Wraith that ran sloppy and 4 man slugged my whole team
I mean just absolute garbage gameplay for no apparent reason other than "winning" I guess??? Like.... there's been SO many of those game this weekend that by Saturday noon, I already decided DBD was done until like Wednesday. I can't with people just finding the most boring and toxic playstyles
-
@HugTechLover said:
Yeaaaaa you’re a little wrong there buddy. You must be in low ranked games. Every game I play, I see nothing but Dead Hard, Adrenaline, resilience, prove thyself, Unbreakable, and CoH. Every now and then I’ll see some unique builds. But it’s mostly always the same. I’m not complaining, I don’t care what perks I face. But you saying the killer meta hasn’t changed while survivor has is extremely hypocritical.
Even myself… my build 99% of the time is DH (literally does not leave my kit), windows, adrenaline, and resilience. The same applies to my entire SWF.
- No one knows their MMR
- I have no delusions about my killer MMR. I'm mid. I'm certainly not in low levels but I'm nowhere near high either like most people claim they are.
- Even in my survivor games where I actually am more confident that I'm closer to the higher end, I see a lot of perk diversity. Yeah there's some who stick to Dead Hard, but alot of people rotate other perks in
-
@Emeal said:
How else you expect Killers to play when Survivors bring their best too.
Maybe it's just a mindset thing, but me and my friends DON'T bring the best. And I know that isn't representative of the community as a whole, but in general, I see a wide variety of non sweaty perks in use when I play both as survivor AND killer. When I say non-sweaty, I mean I run We'll Make, Any Means Necessary, Diversion, and Saboteur as my MAIN build. My back up build is Sabo, We'll Make It, For the People, WGLF.
But when I play killer and I main Huntress, I play BBQ, Iron Maiden, Darkness Revealed, and Lethal. And I do fine. Some games end in 2ks, the majority of them end with 3. You don't HAVE to play the most meta perks at all times is my point and while yes, those perks all work well for Huntress specifically, there's no gen regression in my build. My gameplay is reliant solely upon my skill in chase and my ability to find people quickly and get those hits. If I lose, I know it's because of my lack of skill and if I win, I know it's because I played well. Not because some perks carried me and stopped people from getting their objectives done FOR me
-
Boring people will play boring playstyles to get their "win"
At some point, having fun and having good chases was thrown in the garbage and the game became all about kills and making sure you ended with a 4k. This weekend in particular I've noticed people playing more boring than ever.
Had an artist chase and down me with 1 gen done. Hooked me in basement then stood at the top of the stairs throwing crows. A random was nice enough to take a hit and trade with me in basement (lord knows most randoms don't do that) and instead of the killer taking the hook trade that they slugged, they left them in basement and chased me all the way to the opposite corner of Ormond to tunnel me and let the other person get healed up. Like.... some players out here turn the game on with the intention to be jerks and I'll never get it
-
It's a holiday event. Take a load off and just have fun

Found that achievement annoying as well, but I found a way to cheese it.
Basically just play Clown, and use his speedy yellow bottles and throw them at any unhookers, this will give them haste and enough time for you to hit them. Used this and got the achievement first try
omg, that's so smart. thank you
-
So they put out 6 new achievements with the new patch and I've done all of them except "A Fast Death" where you have to damage 8 survivors with the Haste Status effect.
I have 6/8 but for some reason haven't been able to get more in the past like 7 games. Don't survivor get haste any time they are pulled off hooks, because I've tried getting a few BT hits and then letting people get away (because I feel bad proxy camping them for an achievement) but none of the hits during the basekit BT have counted for some reason
-
@HoodedWildKard said:
Nice one. There's LOT of them and some of them are dead hard if you'll excuse the pub. Well done OP 😁
The most difficult achievement for me was the Myers on simply because so many survivors would just hop in lockers and would rather stall the game or die to end game than give me the Tombstone
There were 3 achievements I didn't even try and just farmed:
Skilled Huntress (down survivors from like 24 meters away)
Wesker's where you have to slam survivors into other survivors 10 times
Pinhead's chain binding not because it's difficult but because I hate Pinhead as a survivor and didn't want to subject survivors to an actually Pinhead game
-
I'm down to 5 achievements left and while I chose to farm a few of them (Interrupt survivors cleansing a totem), I would say the most frustrating one was Evil Incarnate by far because I was only able to get it after deadass 30+ attempts when the last survivor finally decided to not hop in a locker and just die to end game like every other last survivor prior
-
Undying + Haunted Grounds + Third Seal + Whispers
But honestly, I find it very easy to have fun as killer because there's very little survivors can do to stop be from playing the game.
Playing survivor on the other hand has become increasingly boring and dreadful and the only fun that's left is Head On and Saboteur
-
Survivor - Saboteur because I can't give it up and dropping hooks is comedy
Killer - Whispers because it saves me so much time not searching empty areas of the map
-
I really wish people would stop saying the stats mean nothing. While they may not be definitive and all encompassing, they still tell a story.
Like the fact excluding Nurse, Trickster, and (Trapper I think), the kill rates in the general MMR versus the top 5% MMR players is relatively consistent showing that all killers are able to perform about the same across all MMRs. Which makes sense because as survivors are getting better, so should the killers.
