I don't slug or tunnel and my kill rate is around 70%.
I always go after someone on the gens or the unhooker.
I only slug when I know for a fact, that someone is around with the flashlight and the person who died is on "safe" place for a pick-up.
You guys are not going against comp swfs all the time!
You skyrocket into high MMR just because you used dirty and cheap tactics!
Maybe you should not be there is a first place, if you're struggling without tunneling?Everything will be scraped because a lot of people are vocal about the changes. Playing killer has never been easier!
Nothing to do how you or i play.
Merely point out survs have the option to go into custom matches as well. Or does that not suit your narrative?
-
If the weaker player is the last one hooked then they get a "get out of jail free card"
Killers can be punished not for their own behaviour but for using a surv players weakness against them.
I wasn't literally meaning in grab range, more that im still in close proximity to the hook and they go for it. Eg stupid play that now has no downside.

You can turn it off in custom matches.
Killer won't feel miserable.
So just like how survs could do it to avoid sweaty tunneling and slugging?

That's pretty normal. You don't have much pressure at the start of the match- especially if survivors don't spread out, the first gen being done about the time you get a hook isn't necessarily a good start but it's pretty neutral.
It's the future gens that go slower. You have a foothold to start forcing survivors to react, meaning they're stepping away from generators more.
Hooks are slowdown, remember. One person is immobilised and another person has to come save them- go get in a chase at around the same time, and that's three survivors not doing gens for a short period.
And if they blow toolboxes they could have 2 done.
So if i get a hook, i have to go find someone else so i don’t get a penality, and 3 survs can be on gens the same time and have no penality for it.
Good comps will either use the 90 sec free up or hook stages as a way to gain gen time and they get no penality for it. Why should they it's good play. But as a killer going for a weaker player, (and you may not even be intentionally tunneling) you're punished for it.
Someone paths poorly, they unhook infront of you etc.
my next issue would be how im supposed to keep track of who i've just hooked if teams run the same cosmetics?
-
@Foggyguy said:
Then the average killer gets put in their correct mmr bracket against survivors that are on their skill level and they learn how to play the game without tunneling like every player that's actually good at the game. Tunneling has always been a crutch for bad killer players who just want to win using cheese strats.
it's also used heavily in comps, because they know how powerful a full team of pro survs can be.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Survivors can only abandon when the match is basically over for them. Killers should not have the option to just abandon when the game "dont go their way". Survivors, after all, also dont have that option.
The game is basically over when the exit gates are open, so why do i have to stay and watch you t bagging if i don't want to?
-
@jesterkind said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3991015#Comment_3991015
Those gens already do slow down, broadly speaking- the killer has more pressure that late in the game, they've chewed through more resources to create more deadzones, they've injured and downed and hooked survivors to drag their teammates off gens, etc.
The repair buff being proposed in this dev update is a safeguard against the killer securing an early lead that can't be overcome, and there is an equivalent of that on the other side but it's not related to how many gens have been done and how many survivors are alive, it's related to "did they all bring toolboxes specifically".
For the record, should still be fixed.
And if they havent done anything? Eg a gen is done before you've even gotten a down?
-
My question would be, if survs are getting a gen repair buff based upon a dead team mate, then shouldn’t they get a penality based upon how many gens are done if everyone is alive?
Eg, 4 survs alive 3 gens done, shouldn’t progression slow down?
-
Long as i can leave with no penality when survs are standing around at the exits gates as well.
-
Been playing it exclusively as killer, and its pretty much no variation in game play to normal, bar fuel cans seem to take hatchet hits.
-
Orange wind best for Huntress?
Hate it, im colourblind so i struggle to see gen outlines and surv auras on that map. Hard nope from me. Think Dead dog is better.
-
Personally just think how annoying its going to be to keep track of hook states.
Don't think i'll bother i don't have anyone i want to 2v8 with so ill just stick to normal mode.
-
Busted hatchet hit box goes both ways though.
-
For real. Hate that large explosion, all it does is blur vision for a potential hatchet snipe.
Can we also change the colour of gens and survs please?

It's not mandatory as survivors also die if they bleed out. If the killer wants to bleed all 4 survivors out it's not technically against the rules as they're still trying to win.
It's incredibly unfun, I fully agree, but BHVR endorse this playstyle by having perks like Knock Out in the game.
You'd have to read my first post as i said, this basically.

I do not think so.
For the survivors, the ultimate global achievement (and the active) is to repair all generators.
Anything unrelated to this is indirectly related to creating/saving more time so that the main goal can be achieved and it becomes more difficult for the killer.
Hooking a survivor is the common killer action. Some counters are sabotage or flashlight saves, react to the action of hooking. The killer change this style of play with switch to slugging to prevent being countered.Hooking a survivor is mandatory, the game from a killer pov cannot be advanced without it. it's not a "common action" It's mandatory.
You can sabo a hook before someone is picked up, therefore the person may drop the player then just slug.

So, literally bullying. Got it. Sounds like a therapy problem.
To add to this, I'm not talking about farming. I'm talking about actually getting to play the game and enjoy it, like everyone who has ever bought a video game in the history of video games. That's the objective fun of video games. You'd be frustrated too if every time you downed a survivor, the game kicked you out. In fact, you'd probably be enraged. That's exactly what happens to the people you tunnel, just for existing in a game they like to play.Again, you have a different idea of what fun is. I enjoy playing the game to the best of my abilities. If you don't like it either play a killer. Or don't play.
That's the nature of online gaming.

I prefer having fun to bullying and BMing. I think it's gross when anyone does it, killers and survivors alike.
Your issue is, you seem to think everyone has the same idea of what's fun.
You might find farming bp fun. I find stomping survs into the ground with the least amount of generators repaired fun.
-
Does it count towards blinding a killer then?
If so lightborne should negate it.
-
I'd base slowdown/ speed up based upon how many survs are alive. % based on how many survs are alive/unhooked.
-
@Senaxu said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3751444#Comment_3751444
That's because the killers are in the driver's seat. They actively decide how the game is played, whether to tunnel, slug, camp, gen kick, whether to use an aura build, etc.
Survivors have perks to react to possible playing styles and to counter, as a passive part.
Most normal killers, react to how survs are playing, if you're sabo and flashlighting then the killer is more likely to slug.
They may not have intended that when joining a game, but if you're trying to prevent hooks then isn't it the killer reacting?
If they're "gen rushing" the first surv is likely to get tunnelled, so other survs come to peel.
The game is about creating pressure, when one "side" is reacting to the other's pressure, then you're technically winning.

Fun has nothing to do with balance. The SoloQ experience isn't something that can entirely be solved by balance changes.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3742110#Comment_3742110
There's no evidence to support that. Killers are balanced primarily around kill rates and how strong, or weak, their powers feel.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3742383#Comment_3742383
Everyone was exploiting that. It didn't matter if they were solo or SWF. Any bug that can give a player an advantage will be exploited once it becomes well-known.
But you said the game is balanced. So solo queue should be fine. All metrics of the game should be fun to play given balance.
And anyone found exploiting should be banned right?

The thing is, in actual sports you have verbal interactions during the match. In actual sports you're face to face and have a tone of voice that can convey your attitude/intention. In actual sports you also have a referee that reprimands people who, in the middle of the match, decide to ridicule the opponent or shows them the finger or whatnot. You and your opponent usually also speak before and after the match, either directly or via teammates/trainers/whatever.
The cloest to that kind of sportsmanship is actually the dbd comp scene; they usually know each other, they scrim, they have rematches, they sometimes are or were in the same team depending on the tourney and they hang out in the same discord servers. Not all of them like each other and they too get tilted but at the end of the day they know the people on the other side and know their own and their track record.
But the only interaction the "sides" can have is after the match.

Well, as I said, It's only "respectful" when the loser said it first, otherwise, it just feels like passive aggressive gloating.
Is it the same if your sports team shakes hands with someone they stomped in a match?
It''s harder to tell with text having no inflection, but you can stomp someone and be a good sportsman about it.

But it is though. Just because the balance isn't to your satisfaction, doesn't mean the game isn't balanced. Your personal dislike of SWFs doesn't make the game any less balanced.
Oh it is, is it? That why its so much fun in solo queue.

Once you've played for long enough, you get dozens of perks for free thanks to experience. High MMR sweats are not the norm for most players. SWF is far from being unfair.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3741708#Comment_3741708
The main reason we "never have any balance" is because the game isn't balanced top-down. It's balanced bottom-up. If you don't like that, there is no shortage of games that balance top-down and reward skill expression above everything else.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3741644#Comment_3741644
I would imagine that they could, but choose to use those perks because a large amount of survivor perks just aren't that good. Bond isn't even top 10 according to Nightlight. Windows will always be a solid perk choice regardless of being in a SWF or Solo. It shows you what pallets and vaults are where, which can be invaluable for anyone who's competent in chase, but hasn't memorized every possible tile spawn.
It isn''t balanced on any metric, and swfs only add to it.

@ChronoSeth said:
No killer should be able to tunnel and remove a player from the event simply because they brought a mori.
But im farming survivor points.
-
Easiest and only fix i can see, is just to limit perks that can be used in games
Put perks into classes: chase/regression/survival,aura, whatever then just limit how many you can take, for everyone.
If its a swf add limits to the group. If its a 4 man say 2 of X 3 of X and 2 of X
Adjust the numbers however, but we all know that swfs are the main reason we never have any balance.
-
Personally didn't even know you had to be doing the challenge for it to count. Probably explains why the community never does them. As it becomes a "someone else will do it"
I'd rather they just got it done passively, then maybe up the amount required.
-
One thing about dbd, is there is no ladder, so therefore there is no metric to base your "skill" upon, so you can make your own rules.
Play how you like.

May be one day they make a British killer with perk "Not my cup of tea". That if survivors tbag twice, the exit locked for 15sec for them.
Doesn't even have to be tbagging. Half the time i don't even bother going near the gates, or if i see they're inside i go bust walls.
More just the point like slugging, its just there to waste time.

Giving survivors the option to give up isn't the answer to this. It puts the rest of the team at a huge disadvantage and it rewards the killer for playing in a toxic way. In fact I think if they did this it would make more killers do this just to force survivors to surrender. Killers that leave survivors on the ground for prolonged periods of time should be punished for it, not rewarded. It makes more sense to recover over time in a game like this instead of just die.
Can we punish survs who stand at the exit gates wasting my time as well?

If you have people playing for fun, they are gonna quit the game pretty fast because it's just not fun. Grinding it's what keeps the game alive.
But you could manage it, for new players with "x" amount of games played or hours played they get a discount. Many games have a newbie handicap.
It doesn't have to be a base "everyone gets it."

And I have a right to know the survivors have an advantage that I cannot counter, voice comms, and a right to decide if I want to play against people with an unfair advantage.
As far as the devs are concerned, you don't. It's completely irrelevant. Also, the rules decide what is and isn't unfair. Playing in a SWF is not against the rules, which means it's not unfair. Even with voice comms.
I find it so interesting that some players always seem to know exactly that their opponents are playing in a SWF with voice comms. Do you have some sort of nasa technology, that tells you who is and isn't part of a SWF? Most SWFs are really not any different to play against than solo survivors, so it's pretty hard to tell. You can assume, sure, but that doesn't mean you're right.
The interesting part about all the things you list and that make SWFs so "horrible" to play against, is that it can in every game no matter if any of them play together or not. They get a flashlight save because you failed to counter it. They bodyblock you because they did something right (someone was healthy, in the area and also got between you and the other survivor), they sabotaged a hook because they noticed that you carried their team mate to a certain hook etc. It can all happen in solo queue too and it is not an issue for the most part. The situations in which any of these are problematic, are a completely seperate issue. They don't go away just because people start dodging every other lobby.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3733759#Comment_3733759
Bold of you to assume I play in a SWF. Especially since you're wrong. I am a killer main and as a survivor I play almost exclusively solo.
Also, why should you get to decide if you want to play against a SWF or not? Survivors can't choose their killer either and neither side has the option to choose their opponent's perks. But if we're going to let people choose even one of those, then there is no reason why the others shouldn't follow. This would lead to DBD turning into TCM where players spend more time in the lobby than the actual game. Congrats, you have successfully killed a game that somehow survived 8 years.
If you're so scared of encountering a SWF, that probably means you don't have a lot of confidence in your skills as a killer. In that case you have a different issue altogether, which is expecting results you already know you can't achieve.
That part about playing in a KYF lobby works for killers too. Oh, you don't want to play against SWFs? Just invite a bunch of random people to play with you. Unless of course the point is to farm BP and not to avoid SWFs.
Let people play with their friends and focus on yourself. Who knows, you might even learn something from all these terrible, unbeatable SWFs on comms.
Was a general statement and not against you specifically.
Why can't i? i can choose to opt out of playing with console players, why not swfs? Im happy to wait for a game.
Asking to see what killer and what perk is just a crap argument, considering we know the benefits that being in a swf is verse solo.
I've seen plenty of flog behaviour of swfs, not to be scared of them just to find alot of them to be fools trying to abuse every bug and mechanic they can.
Lets run boilover on rpd and hide in the library, lets use some d.s bug so we can fly. All this crap.
But its bold of you to assume im scared of swfs, i just dislike their behaviour at times, and the fact they add to the unbalance of the game.
