I'm not expecting to farm every game at all. I want every game to be treated like a normal game! It's just that the killers I seem to keep running into don't want to do anything other than run survivors out of the game as quickly as possible or stare at the hook from the get go while rubbing it in the survivors' faces. Event or no event, this 'playstyle' is really offputting and kills any enjoyment I could get out of matches. May as well be doing something else.
I'd jump head over heels for an actual farming killer, although the last one I had betrayed us with NOED and Blood Warden and left me questioning my own existence.
I am playing normally, you're just expecting because there is easy BP that everyone should jump on board the farm fest.
Im done with the challenges, the 4 characters i play have everything they need unlocked. Why do i need to jump on board this cuddle farm fest?
I treat survivors exactly the same every game, as victims not friends.
Go Go gadget Minotaur Oni + mori.

Anyone who unironically uses the line "I'm high-mmr" instantly loses argument points.
But it can be true, how can you say otherwise? The devs choose to hide it for the sake of "toxicity" Me perosnally just think it saves them dealing with "i shouldn't be versing this person" type threads. Can't complain about mmr if you can't see it.

Nope just a classic move by biased players like yourself. “But what about this thing i dont like”
Newsflash: BOTH SIDES HAVE PROBLEMATIC STUFF. JUST BECAUSE ONE IS BAD DOESNT JUSTIFY THE OTHER
the topic was about skull merchant but because its a survivor problem (and i know how killer mains like u hate when they are brought up) you want to change it to something else
Im sure you were just as vocal when CoH needed nerfing right? because you wouldn't be biased.
Yes im aware both "sides" have problems hence why i bought up CoH you know as a comparison.
And i don't really care about skull merchant i don't own her. 1 killer on 1 map is not game breaking. Take the loss and move on.

It's probably gonna take BHVR that long to re-design her yeah
So like i said it the same as boons. Does it make it fair? of course it isn't it's just a comparison. Killer had at least 6 months were CoH was so o.p is wasn't funny. Then they nuked it instead of one easy fix. Make bones stompable, if they had have done that from the start CoH would have been fine upon release.
The issue i had with CoH was not how much or how fast it healed, but the fact that it was infinite, but later on they release a perk to stomp bones, that no killer will ever use.
@EmmaFrostyEyes said:

really? Thats the best you can come up with? I know your a biased killer main but come on
Oh im sorry i shouldn't draw comparisons between a o.p survivor perk and a o.p killer power. Probably shouldn't mention Mori's been nerfed and keys took a year later either eh?

Who cares? People whine about literally ANY TYPE OF MOVEMENT. Whether it's doing 360s, doing any FOV-tech, holding W, vaulting, or whatever. Everything is always an issue that needs fixing by the devs.
With the recently released killers, there is not much else to do but hold W. So get used to it.
So long as every killer plays the new ones it's fine?

Something can be within the rules and still be poor behavior that deserves getting called out. The bar for behaving in a jerkish manner isn’t whether it’s a bannable offense.
Plenty of survs don't see their behaviour as "jerkish" that's in the eye of the beholder. Again just because you don't like my playstyle anymore than i may like yours is not a reason to be able to badrep someone.

That was deliberate sarcasm because if everyone decides to play killer there won’t be as many survivors to go up against. In what way did it imply all killers camp?
You're implying every killer face camps ergo every surv will have to switch to killer.
-
So like boons?
-
Some of you need to understand, not everyone who plays is interested in bp.
I use cakes so i can find the invites to get the challenges done quicker. The bp i don't care about.
If you keep going into games expecting to get 50k bp and don't get them then you're just going to be disappointed.

The killer used anonymous mode. Thank you Mandy for not allowing any discussion why anonymous mode needs to be counterbalanced with a reputation system.
Someone played within the rules, that you don't like so you get to trash them?
So anyone with a flashlight i can thrash their rep? or any swf?

So when you play survivor do you only want to focus on gens in this stealth play or do you want to make saves etc?
And when you say killing survivors, is it chasing them down that you enjoy and then putting them on the hook, so winning a chase?
I do, do saves if i think it's safe enough to do so, im of the opinion that not everyone can be saved. Many games i've gone from a 1k to a 3 or 4k because of survs trying to save someone. Im also a full time solo player so i might not have teamates i might have bots.
Sometimes the entity has to be fed.
And as for Killer, not even "winning" the chase, it's seeing them die, whether it be on a hook, via a mori, bleeding out, or killed by the entity at the end. It doesn't matter how they die as long as they do. Sometimes i have some sympathy for newbies when i see them, but generally i play for kills, how i get them doesn't matter, and if survs are complaining how i play after a game then i've done my job well. I don't need friends only victims.
Conan says it best.
-
It's hard to measure, you've removed mmr so i can't see myself getting better any more.
I make my fun depending on the circumstances of the game at the time. But i do have a passion for killing survs running around in the brightest outfits they have. If survs behave in a certain way, standing in exit gates etc at the end, the next lot of survs i run into will be full sweat mode.
As a surv i play a solo build, and fun for me is not interacting with a killer at all. I play Vietnam stealth Bill.
-
Can we add the option to kill all survs standing inside the gates after 30 secs if they have nothing to do as well?
-

The issue with both is lack of accountability.
You can lose to a SWF, and you can lose in SoloQ, but blaming it entirely on either is a bad thing to do, since it ignores the idea that you could have made mistakes and could improve in some areas.
I lose all the time while playing SoloQ, but Ive been trying to use it as a learning experience to improve since I just really suck at Survivor specifically. Even with Killer, which is a role that I am significantly better at, I use every opportunity as a learning opportunity.
There isnt any metric for improvement though, you cant see your mmr. The devs believe that if they don't show it it reduces toxic behaviour. That may be so, but it also reduces the threads complaining about who someone verse when they shouldn't have.
If you can't see your mmr then you cant complain about it. BHVR logic.

Which it is still not competitive against swf and it still will never be equal or stronger even if u added voice comms or basekit infinite range bond. But it does not make SWF a crutch, most swf players are people just having a good time with friends and the comp swfs are people playing in private matches against each other anyway.
I keep hearing this good time with friends, you can do that in kyf, which has zero impact on other players. If all you're about is a good time with your friends then go there.
if swf wasn't a crutch then why do they have to keep adjusting the hud to compete with swfs. Also im sure there are many potatoes who play with there friends and get carried, ergo the swf is a crutch, because in solo they wouldn't have their friends to carry them.
If you don't see swf's as a advantage over solo's and the potential to be a crutch for bads then you're just being naive.
-
There are far to many variables in the game for it to ever be balanced.
1v4, swf v solo, perk stacking, addon stacking, maps, mmr, the list is long. Accept it for what it is, sometimes you eat sometimes you're eaten.

I never said Killer didnt have issues, I said Survivor has too many issues, I said that for a reason.
When I bought DBD, many years ago, I bought it to play Survivor and Killer, I do not want to be forced to exclusively play a single side because BHVR has neglected issues with one side.
Much like how the first snowman event was with survs getting a free hit.

lmao sure what does getting shards, cosmetics through the rift or leveling up your characters mean when you could just not for the only benefit of random people complaining ? Also if fun was all that mattered no one would sweat to being with. Why do killers tunnel to win or slug for the 4K when they could just have fun instead? Why do survivors even bother doing gens to escape when there's really nothing fun about it?
Communication is obviously a big help but being in a swf doesn't mean you're on comms and having comms absolutely does not mean survivors are playing efficiently. most swf aren't communicating like an esports team and are actually just having fun.
Also for the record i've played in a swf once, with one other person and without comms, which is what most swf are. There aren't a lot of people who actually go against 4men swf on comms most of the time, and considering the number of people who claim they're one of those on this forum I'd say the majority are just using it as an excuse every time they lose because they can't fathom survivors can beat them without a crutch like comms or OP perks.
The vast majority of killers don't need to go against a wannabe comp team to get stomped, most of the time it's just MMR putting them against stronger survivors and not 4 survivors of their skill who go from "being rubbish" to "stomp killers" simply by using discord.
Again you can have fun with your friends well not trying to get a 20th hair style for Feng, you just choose not to. Are you that naive to think most swfs are not on comms? ill play with my friends but not talk to them? Yeah ok. it doesn't matter if your not trying to be efficient, the fact that you can say ill body block or unhook, or get chased in an instant over a solo reading what is happening when it does display it on the hud and not before hand.
And as for blaming mmr a swf just compounds the issue of a killer getting stomped then.
"lose because they can't fathom survivors can beat them without a crutch like comms or OP perks." and you're also admitting its a crutch which is my point.

Playing and having a good time with friends is now officially a crutch? What logic is that?
The fact that solo queue has to receive hud updates to make it competitive with swfs?
-
The same as i think of survs standing at the gate with nothing to do. *expletive*

Except you'd need 5 people to play a normal game in kyf and the most common swf are only 2 people. And even if you have 5 players you would't gain any BPs, EXP or get your challenges and dailies done.
No one is going to stop their game progress because you don't want to go against people who play a multiplayer game with their friend(s).
What does bp and exp mean if you're having fun. Nothing, and im sure you can find a killer and 2 others on the dbd discord, you just choose not to, because you'd rather stomp killers under the veneer of playing with friends.
My original point is that swf is a crutch, anyone who says otherwise obviously didn't read the million threads talking about solo being rubbish and why they're adding tools to make it easier to communicate.

Yes people only play in swf to win and not because it’s fun to play with your friends 🙃
If you have no one to play with add me and I’ll show you why it’s fun
But you can do that in kyf if it's about fun. That way you don't have to impact those who don't want to enjoy your swf.
No thanks, im a killer main an when i do play surv i happily play with randoms.
-
Not everyone cares for bp and ranking. To me its a bi-product of the game.
If a killer is playing a certain way within the rules what does it matter? Every has their own version of what fun is.
Some people find playing with their friends fun, some find standing at exit gates fun, some find t bagging fun and some find standing in your face with a chainsaw fun.
Make your own fun. (within the rules)
-
Can we have a mechanism to kill survivors standing at the gate when they can leave?
I guarantee you this happens to more Killer mains than survs getting slugged for 4 mins.
-
@Nirgendwohin said:
people play to have fun. DBD can be very unfun in some situations. blame BHVR for creating / allowing this situations.
Everyone has there own idea of fun though.
If it's in the rules what does it matter? Some people like playing with their friends, and some like tunneling and camping

Same reason why some people need a crutch like swfs to play, and the same reason why survs stand at gates instead of leaving.

This is kind of the point yes.
So you deliberately release something you know is a hot mess just so you can nerf if in 6 months?
Good marketing there, "hey guys buy this new killer that's trash on release"

I'm tired of killers playing like jerks when we're not even finished one gen and they want to just face camp someone
fine sure turn it off at the end but I don't care anymore that you wanna ruin other people's fun at the start of the game
Maybe face camping is there idea of fun?
I've "lost" plenty of games a killer due to making my own fun. Camping and tunneling can be fun.
-
3 gens are caused by survs.
If i use all the hooks on one side of the map is it my fault or the survs?
Survs can see where gens spawn at the start, they choose to ignore them.

It really does feel like it. What I didn't mention in my original post was that I frequently play in a 4 man SWF too. We have a combined ~20k hrs and track our results. Over the last two weeks, killers managed a grand total of zero hooks in 7 of our games, just north of 10% of our total matches. So we are all either individually awful players who combine to form the MegaZord when we're in SWF and return to our normal selves in solo queue, or matchmaking in this game is awful.
probably just shows how much of an advantage using coms is, 4 randoms trying to interact via sign language is going to be a mess
-
@Pumpkinbros said:

no not really because I'm talking about a situation that is uncounterable, I can not save someone from a camping bubba without a second person who is fully healed, so that's why I say it about this
gen slow down is only a result of skill, when gens fly by it means you are failing to apply pressure to the team, so that's why you need it, I'm not saying that's an issue but in no way should gen slowdown perks become base kit considering its counterable, you can kill survivors
so to answer your question no, you can not also say this about killer perks
Seems a bit contridictory if you ask me, if 4 survs start gens i can really only pressure one at a time, then you say its counter able by killing survivors ergo killers camp you, dead survs cant do gens. So what exactly do you want? killers chasing you or killers camping hooks?
-
Compared to Bill who has what 6 different cosmetics in total after how many years?
And don;'t say its because of licence, they could give them away if they wanted,
-
More part of the endless cycle, of trying to achieve any balance.
The developers have no clue. There are far to many variables in this game to try and get balance.
Until the studio decides if it's a swf or solo game, it will be a endless cycle of buff, nerf hotfix.
-
If the stomping of boons was baseline, CoH would have been fine.
The issue was not the healing, it was that it was infinite.
-
Yeah found it odd that even the event packages, contained envelopes, and nevermind i still had left over letters from last year, it's a bit of over-saturation.
-
I'd love a werewolf, or a Alien type killer.
The wolf can gain buffs after getting blood, much like Oni, and an Alien can evolve like Myers tier's.
-
It's just as much fun as standing at a gate with nothing to do.
It's just as much as fun as tea bagging because you got away.

So... eruption buff?...
Spine Chill's TR cue isn't directional. It doesn't tell where the killer is. Only how distant. Which id exactly what your ears can do.
This is what i understood it to be, it doesn't show the direction of the killer, its just a heart that beats faster the closer the killer is, much like the sound at the moment.
-
Depends on your location, time of day, lots of variables.
The new killer shine has also worn off, so alot of surv's who were playing the Knight have now gone back to survs.
-
It's no more reportable than survs who stand around at the exit gate with nothing to do, or tbagging.
-
That's become gaming in general. Maximum reward for minimum effort. But business are in a way to blame as well, lootboxes and pay to win.
Just set your own parameters for enjoyment, if i can get survivors crying about how i've played then i've done a good job.
When you stop caring about what others think, you'lll enjoy dbd more.

It would have been a good idea to place them all in excluding categories at the start, but if done now they'd have to rewrite every perk.
Come to think of it, I'm not sure how they failed to do that at design.
Well they've already been and done a "wide sweep" of changes, Generally most perks in isolation are fine, its stacking of "slowdown" "survival" etc that causes issues.
-
I've had a 3 month break or so, and when i came back i found myself playing "normally" and sweating.
Then i found that because dbd has no metric to see if you're improving i think i'll just play how i want. If i find someone annoying, guess you're going to be facecamped.
Why? because i've found because i have nothing to work towards, i just enjoy irritating others like they do to me.
-
If perks were sorted into catagories so that they couldn't be stacked alot of this would be null and void, rather than just a endless rotation of nerf/buffs.
You can have old dead hard, but you can't have borrowed time. i.e one "survival" perk.
You can have old ruin but not eruption, things like that.
-
Yeah Bill does need some more outfits.
-
@Iron_Cutlass said:
Im going to disagree with the "DBD is Pay to Win because all of the best perks are licensed" because the Shrine of Secrets means that you can *technically* get them all for free. I just wish the Shrine of Secrets had a cheaper and better system for getting those perks, even after the perk rework the Shrine is super outdated.
Also the Rift being FOMO is also something I disagree with, since most Rift cosmetics do make a return to the shop, but I feel like BHVR needs to state that on the Rift that way new players do not feel pressured to buy into it by thinking it's like other games. There are also some single piece cosmetics from when the Rift was brand new that should make a return to the shop IMO but I think BHVR has literally forgot about them to begin with.
The issue with shrine is the newer perks, ones that come into the meta don't go into the shrine for a long period after release.
Boon's are in shrine for the first time (Unless im wrong) and thats got to be 6? months since they came out.
