I'm the guy who records, files an in-game report and submits the YouTube video via a support ticket.
Last week I got the usual message from support saying they will not be able to let me know the outcome of the ticket.
I asked, what about the new in-game feedback thing? They didn't respond.
Hss anyone reported a player and received anything on this new feedback system?
This is how it looks like for reporting a cheater (banned in less than 3h):

So what happens exactly? Do you get a notification when you log into the game? Is there a menu option to view them?
its a popup like the news or the daily rituals. there is no button / menu you can enter. it pops up when you switch from the main menu to survivor / killer.
-
yes, multiple times on chat and cheats. Sometimes, however, the response from the ingame report feedback is delayed by a few days compared to the support response.
-
Visual bug maybe. Often the bar is red too for me without any slowdowns.
-
i noticed a lot of chinese killers on EU server lately
-
I noticed there are way less bad manners when the players have over 1500 hours. Guess you mature with playing the game.

What region are you from?

The block feature only prevents communication with them, it does not prevent matchmaking with them again.
On Xbox the ban and unban are in the same place I believe. Dunno about the other platforms.
On PC it supposedly prevents the person from sending a friend request ingame. But my question remains, where can I unblock people?
Its not blocking chat messages on PC / Steam: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/337146/pc-block-dosent-block-chat-messages#latest

with the actual 2000ms ping limit the latency allows the killer in the extremes to hit you in 8m away from your current location. maybe a ping limit of 300ms would be more fair.
-
Felix because of Lederhosen
-
Looks like lag switching to me.
-
The problem are the backfill lobbies and how the system just takes the next best person. often, not always, completely out of step with the skill level of the rest of the members.
Also what is the reason the killer can see the prestige, name and / or the player profils in the lobby? That only encourages additional lobby shopping.
On the survivor side it looks different. The survivors have to work as a team and for this it is necessary to know a lot about their team members. so it would be great to see the prestige level in the lobby.
-
Not saying it was a cheater but it wouldn't be unusual either
-
Most of my friends hardly play DBD anymore. Even the Twitch streamers in my steam friends list with usually over 100 hours / two weeks hardly get over 50 hours nowadays.
the reasons are diverse. some say they don't like the direction in which DBD is developing, others are bothered by the cheaters and others are bothered by the price structure which came with cage.
-
If you miss tail attacks its a skill issue on your side you can work on.
-
to be honest, another nail in the coffin.
-
just report them. if they think they still need to use that exploit, they should get punished.
-
one more reason to just sit at generators.
good for survivors, bad for killers
-
Backfill lobbies are still the biggest problem with matchmaking. yesterday three killers dodged our lobby (nobody below 3k hours), the fourth killer had 155 hours. It was hard for the killer to even get a hit.
When you're new to the lobby, it's hard to tell whether it's a backfill lobby or a normal one if nobody pressed ready before. If you are one of the testers whose prestige level has been hidden, then you can only hope that some players will show their playing hours in their Steam profile or you have no way to tell.
what to do about it? no more lobbies? then there is no longer coordination (keyword: deliverance) or just show the fellow survivors with loadout in the loading screen. short matchmaking ban for dodging lobbies?
-
even in low mmr the people are using the exploit. it makes me sad
-
i play soloQ and its 3/10. the worst thing is how ping is handled in this game and players with ping over 300ms are allowed to play.

That wouldn't really fix the core issue here, though, which is that people ask questions that may not have an answer. Three weeks, even a month, isn't necessarily time for them to have anything to share on that specific topic, because they don't start work on a thing after they get a QnA question about it.
The current model would be fine, if the community at large either became okay with stock responses, or stopped asking the questions that obviously get stock answers. The issue isn't that BHVR don't have time to come up with an answer, it's that there may not be one because of what is being asked.
then the question arises for me. why does bhvr do q&a's at all?
-
my idea would be to make this Q&A's here. one section to ask questions.
3 weeks to collect questions, then the threads got locked down. the most upvoteded questions have a higher priority to get answered. one week or till end of the month is for bhvr to think about answers. bhvr would not have to respond spontaneously to questions and users have time to discuss questions.

I think you should stop malding about a killer with an attack range of tier 2.5 nemesis and a delay 0.1 second shorter who also cannot break pallets with that attack.
this topic is about ping in general, thank you.

Yes it is.
Edit: video of that actions + online report additional to the ingame report is needed

There is the possibility they were banned with a time limit. Something like this is probably more of a warning or 24 hours the first time.

The rules section on the bhvr support page lists "working with the opposite team to gain an advantage or grief teammates" as a temp-ban worthy offense. A following post of yours of your mentions that your report was looked at, possibly with additional action taken.
To me that suggests that reporting such infractions makes dbd a more pleasant place.
someone knows how long this time based bans are? If the time is really only 24 hours or less, then it is entirely possible that the players were punished.

These examples sound pretty clear cut and there's not really any way to misinterpret them as anything but survivor and killer working together to get other survivors killed.
Wait to see if you hear back about it, if not, tweet the devs and offer your video evidence. The game is better for everybody if these players aren't in the games.
Would love to see the video, why don't you upload it to YouTube and link us.
Both were dealt with by support with the usual final sentence. "We'll take a look at this and take additional action if it is needed, but please note that we will not be able to inform you of the outcome of this report."
I don't care about these players being banned. I just want to know if I can save myself the time for pointless reports in the future. Uploading the video and describing the situation takes longer than the game itself. I can't post the videos themselves because you can see the players' steam profiles in them.

As people have mentioned it can be hard to tell intent. I'm glad bHVR do use caution and don't just ban because "It looks that way". DO you have the footage to share. I'm curious.
My question is general. Is there even a penalty for "Working with the opposite team to gain an advantage" since it is neither against the EULA nor the TOS.

'Working with the killer' is such a nebulous accusation.
I've been allegedly reported for 'working with the killer' before, but when survivors want to 'boop the snoot' or farm or run a slug race, and one of the four decides to have a tantrum instead, who's in the wrong? Then there's accidental sandbagging. No one in those situations deserves to be banned.
Even with 'video evidence' it can be difficult to determine malicious intent.
in the first match the questionable survivor jumped into the locker right to nearby survivors, waited for the killer to come and bodyblocked the other survivors. unhooked right in front of the killer and bodyblocked the survivors so the killer can down them again. the questionable survivor was accompanied to the gate by the killer and not hit once in the match. in steam the killer commented on the questionable survivor "+rep helpfully <ingame name>"
the second match the questionable survivor set down an item in front of the killer when only two survivors are left. the killer downed the questionable survivor and let him wiggle free. the survivor ran to the last known location of the other survivor. this repeated over several attempts since the other survivor was good at hidding in lockers. at the end the questionable survivor was given the hatch.
Both incidents were recorded in specatior mode, since I was already dead at the time and therefore from the perspective of the others and from that of the questionable survivor. I think both incidents are consistent with "Working with the opposite team to gain an advantage"

It is ridiculous. How can something so essential to the game be so broken and the quality testers not notice?

because of the bugged vaulting speed which is the topic of this thread

They should just close his youtube channel. They can do this since they own all the rights to the visuals. My guess is this is already in progress but the legal stuff takes time.

They run the client that the user in question uses to connect to the internet, so they absolutely could do a MAC ban. What might be even more effective is a hardware ID ban.
When the game starts, it could generate hashes based on the user's unique hardware before the server checks it against a database. If two or more items match a known ban evader (the only type of person who would be put in such a database, not regular rule-breakers), action is taken. It could check MAC addresses, UUIDs, and other things that would be difficult to change without reinstalling the operating system or getting new hardware. They couldn't simply run it in a VM, because EAC checks for that, and even if new accounts aren't expensive, new computers are.
And then if they really wanted to throw him off, they could take a cue from some of the more annoying DRM schemes out there and, instead of banning him outright, tell him six times that the game failed to initialize, get him into a fake match and make him wait an hour loading before giving him a DC error, purposely bug his character ingame so that it's weaker or less effective, make his character go AFK for large portions of the match, etc.
Alternatively, someone with a matching hardware ID (especially one that was just banned from a previous match) could simply have their matches subject to additional scrutiny by BHVR's server in real-time. They can't do that for everyone because it would take too many resources, but how many people like this do they have? They could watch a few matches a day. Even if they have 2,000 games a day where something like this happens, they could watch 200 of them with basic algorithms that check for things that shouldn't be possible ingame, and that puts a dent in the problem.
sadly banning hardware ID's or MAC do not help since they can spoof them too.
-
I wonder why they need to do that with that manpower they have.

There really isn't a wind up time.
You're talking about going from 0.2s to 0.4s
that would be on nemesis level (0.38s) and if the killer has good ping its possible to dodge these.

drop the flashbang somewhere do your item thing and pick up the flashbang later

Ok but did you see the video though?
I guess I should go put in for a Guinness world record of fastest reaction time for a human.
he predicted the attack. thats not the same as reacting to it. also DH has a windup time.
-
initial conditions:
- wind up time of the tail attack: 200ms
- survivor is injured
- average killer ping: 50ms
- average survivor ping: 50ms
- human reation time to visual input: 150ms for a gamer (250ms is the average for a human)
- I'm asuming here you can identify the animation of the tail attack and start your reaction within the first 18 frames on a 120 fps system and press a button (1000ms / 120 * 18 = 150ms)
- i'm not sure if the first 18 frames are enough information to differentiate between normal movement and the tail attack because its not like a red flash or something. but lets go with 18 frames
the math:
- 200ms: killer starts the tail attack on his computer
- 200ms - 25ms = 175ms: server gets the information and send the info to the survivor
- 175ms - 25ms = 150ms: survivor gets the information from the server and start displaying the information
- 150ms - 150ms = 0ms:
- survivor press a random button and start moving.
- the taill attack executes on the killer pc and the survivor is now put into dying state.
- 0ms - 25ms = -25ms:
- the server get the information from the killer that the survivor was hit and got put into dying state
- the server get the information from the survivor that the survivor started movement
- -25ms - 25ms = -50ms:
- the killer gets the information the survivor wants to started movment and ignores it
- the survivor gets the information the killer hit him and displays the dying state animation
edit: 70ms ping

Also average pings are 50ms, really? Use better ISP
here is an example with a killer from russia on EU server (~200ms ping) and how i was already dead before my movement showed up on the killer screen.

The drop on steam chart has nothing to do with xenomorph, it's just the usual drop in numbers after anniversary event.
Happens every year.
I was expecting more new players, just because of the name. the decline in the number of players also coincides with the end of the summer holidays in many european countries.

Yeah ... Xeno is a blessing .... *looking at the steam player charts and nods*
