guess I have to make a point...

    I challenge the devs to 10 match’s.

they can stream it as proof this is totally doable.

in those 10 match’s the dev they choose at the start of the match must get 3 safe unhooks during egc.

they can use w/e they want as far as items and perks

hell they can bring back old instant heals for this if they want.

i will be playing my main wraith.

i will not be using a mori or noed.

they must win 1 of 10

I must stop all 10 to win

a win isn’t 4 escapes or kills but rather said player gets credit for the 3 unhooks during egc

they can pick the map idc

if they can do it everyone sees its possible

if I win they have to listen to us and change it.

to avoid unfairness as I said I’ll play wraith

or if you want I’m sure @GrootDude would gladly take my place and let you meet his leather face.

o and I’ll tunnel and camp.

what do you say devs wanna show everyone it’s possible?

I just did this challenge "3 save saves" last night. Mind you I'm playing at rank 9 right now. Sure I don't see this being overly common but the trapper would hook and myself and the other rando stayed behind. It was a back and forth of BT hook saves. Of all the "tome 4 challenges" I find the easier one.

Edit: To clarify Id on't mean this challenge is "completed" but rather I already met the conditions of the challenge.

I wouldnt mind it NOT being activated with the use of syringes. but like a simple medkit heal?????????? whyyyyyyyyyyyyy

They explained it when they revealed the perk on stream.

Basically when you heal yourself or another the progress bar has "ticks" that you must fulfill to complete the action. Each second of healing counts as a "tick" that fills this bar. When you use a medkit you are actually filling the "ticks" faster. The issue with the perk is that it should read "Heal teammates for X seconds" rather than a "health state" because its not the health state that's activating the perk but a set number of time.

I agree it would make sense for medkits to affect this but maybe they made this decision to keep things consistent because "We'll make it, syringe, septic, new medkit speed buff" might all be more powerful then intended? I don't know.

Or you know, she could just have a normal vaulting animation like killers are supposed to have, instead of having this ridiculously, very easy to miss 'tell,' that's probably a bug that's unintended rather than an actual feature.

(Yes, I know you're just reporting on it. I just find how she gives no info at all simply dumb).

I love it, it makes it a fun mindgame. I may be a minority here but I prefer NOT getting all my information for free and having to figure things out.

  • Popularized the "Stealth" Ghostface. His playstyle is all about using the "No TR/red stain" and never using stalk.

Sloppy , Thana, Ruin/Corrupt and Nurses.

The goal is to hurt your targets but rarely commit to a chase unless a quick down is guaranteed. This keeps them off gens and always scared because you are not stalking but rather appearing from shadows and making them scared. Its sort of like Scratched Mirror Myers but with full speed and full lunge.

He has been making LOADS of GF videos that I would highly guess have made GF popular again. It is an incredibly strong way to play him as you never feel safe and always have to be careful.

So I'm new(ish) or maybe the better term is casual?

Either way, what does M1 mean? I've seen it used a few times and have no idea what it is referring too.

Just to be more of an idiot, do you mean cleanse like a totem, or cleanse like when you wash your face in those fountains?

"M1" is referring to the button killers use to attack on PC. (This analogy works on consoles too if you just say "R2" but its typically just referred to as "M1" also. Just like how a console player may say "AFK" even though they are not using a keyboard.

What the reference to "M1 Killer" means is a killer who doesn't have a power that is effective in a chase. For example Plague has her vomit that causes a build up of damage on a survivor until they become injured (it also prevents healing aside form using a "cleansing fountain" found in the map) so if no one heals then Plagues power becomes useless because everyone is already hurt and her power no longer helps he in the chase, and she only has "M1" to attack.

Another example would be Wraith. His bell allows him to turn invisible but it doesn't actually cause any harm to the survivors meaning he has to uncloak and use "M1" to hurt them, thus making him a "M1 Killer".

Hillbilly can use his power (chainsaw) to down survivors and can also use it as a threat (pretend to charge up) to confuse survivors into making a wrong move. He can also use his power to gain lost ground on survivors he is chasing making his power useful and allowing him to harm survivors in a chase without relying only on "M1".

So this is the 4th tome now i know the devs have said they dont comment on leaks so lets go a different route with this you guys showed us this on the ptb so is it really a leak?

Now to the point in what world are some of these challenges even possible

    Examples

Kill 3 survivors with noed during end game

Blind the killer while hes carrying a survivor

Unhook 3 survivors during the end game collapse

Come on seriously I get the idea of wanting things to become harder as you go through fair enough but i just honestly think this ones out of the realm of possible unless you are at rank 20 i mean the flashlight the killer while they are carrying a survivor one kinda proves my point.

"Kill 3 survivors with Noed during Endgame"

Its a 3 hour movie its not that difficult.

All joking aside this rift is basically saying "do nothing for the whole game and give the survivors the best chance at escaping, only trying to kill them at the very end once a gate is opened. OH! Also don't forget to dodge the DCs!"

I fail to see where this is fun.

  • @GrootDude said:

Lately on PS4 we have been getting a lot of errors while trying to join a lobby as swf or we get lobby dodged. We’ve only played one match over the course of an hour.

    *Stalking Intensifies!*

  • Screw the shirt I want shirtless cosmetics for EVERYONE!

  • I know they just had an issue with the Trapper Ornate mask vanishing so I would assume this issue is (or will be very shortly) on their list.

  • I'm also on PS4.

I cannot say your experience hasn't been horrible I just have gotten really great people on both sides during my matches.

  • @HarryToeknuckles said:

I find a lot of killers DC-ing right after the game begins or a few minutes into realizing they're losing, which usually wastes the offering you just burned. So I'm sure that has something to do with it.

Must be bad luck on your part, I have yet to see any survivors OR Killers DC yet and I have played quite a few matches.

  • @White_Owl said:

I'd like to add that Spine Chill is often misleading, because killers tend to look around while roaming, so the odds the killer will point at a direction and go there are slim. Countless times I got taken by surprise because I thought it was safe but the killer was near me looking around.

Spine chill really only works as a quick indication that a killer (without a TR) is nearby as even if they only "quick pop" your Spine Chill its enough to know they are somewhere close.

I don't think Spin Chill is enough of a "meta" perk to be worrisome right now but it does completely kill some builds when it is present.

There is a number of posts about how Spine Chill now counters all Killers in the game and is due to be meta. It is a rather decent perk and is able to do a lot for Survivors, but it is one that fell OUT of meta once before. Spine Chill once was a pure meta perk, so why did it stop being meta?

Killers can counter Spine Chill. Premonition has no counter, but Spin Chill does!

Back at launch Wraith was THE Killer to play. He was the communities choice of being the strongest Killer in the game. Somehow Wraith was a higher tier than Billy. Hell, a lot of people thought Billy was the worst Killer of the original 3 back at launch. He was too hard to use they said. Anyway, back on topic.

Almost EVERYONE had problems seeing Wraith coming or in general didn't know when they should run or not so they started running Spine Chill. And that made it rather hard to get close to ANYONE with any Killer back then. They never had to see you coming, once that cat lit up solid they started to run and once a Survivor has a gap on the Killer. It wasn't worth chasing them as they ran towards the nearest infinite. Today a good starting distance is still not going to make the chase worth it most times. So something like Spine Chill will always be good. Unless the Killer knows how to counter it.

How does a Killer counter Spine Chill? Look to the side.

Spine Chill triggers when the Survivor is within a certain area of the Killers center field of view. If the Survivor is outside of that area it doesn't trigger. To counter Spine Chill it is as simple as to walk diagonally towards gens. Keeping the gen in the far 25% left/right of your screen prevents Spine Chill from triggering and so it allows you to get close before they get its warning.

Granted you will still need to trigger Spine Chill in order to stalk someone with Shape or Ghost as you need to put the Survivor closer to your center screen. But by preventing Spine Chill from triggering for as long as possible you will give yourself more time to stalk someone. Or at the least maybe land an early hit with odds of a possible grab.

    TLDR-

A Killer can prevent Spine Chill from triggering by keeping the Survivor in the far 25% of their screen. So walking diagonally towards gens tends to never allow Spine Chill to trigger allowing the Killer to get much closer without its warning.

This is assuming you know they are using Spine Chill (otherwise you are just putting yourself at a disadvantage) and assuming you KNOW they are in the direction you are traveling.

If I spend half the game walking towards gens looking to my right I'm highly likely to miss the survivor sneaking on my left. Or I'll look like a fool as I do a crab walk all over the map.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I 300% agree with this. This is much needed change and it's really inconvenient for survivors even for Killers sometimes.

I've had a match on Hawkins yesterday where i was trying to rush a gen from 80% to full but the hook notification and aura hid the killer behind it long enough for him to get close enough and stop me.

Not to mention that noise... god dayum... you ever tried to find a survivor by sound when the person you hooked just died on it, it's gonna take a while before the noise disappears and the range is quite big.

Spirit - Ok I'll just phase walk over to them and follow their injured pains, whaAAaaa

    Hooked survivor -

    image.png

    Spirit - #########!?

  • Yup. Anything not in game lags behind a little for me, its due to the "graphic update" to Unreal Engine.

So long as it doesn't hurt my frames in game its low on my list of issues but it can be frustrating when trying to view different screens.

  • As far as the event goes I have seen a complete 180 from the usual "toxic" behavior of prior years. As a survivor (event) I will do all my gens and open a gate but will go to an event hook the killer didn't get and let myself be hooked. To my surprise I have seen almost every survivor do this even though everyone could escape. I also get plenty of killers that let us do the event gens but in my experience killers usually seem to be the nice guys/gals. I have even had survivors do this while I was playing killer and this is the FIRST time in my 3 yrs of playing DBD I have even seen a survivor purposely go to an event hook at end game so I could get my points.

As for the archive challenges, while I completely love having something new to do/focus on it has been rather stressful. I have had matches where I've watched people hunting chests when I (or a teammate) are sitting on a hook. I understand some of them are a pain in the butt, however this can get a little annoying at times. Once more people complete them I know the issue will be far less common, and right now it isn't enough of a problem to overly frustrate me.

Overall I find the current "mood" of the game great. I enjoy the achieves and although i find the Halloween event lackluster compared to last years (all issues aside) its enjoyable thanks to the people I've played with/against.

    🤣🤣🤣

I don't know, people don't seem as pleased when they experience "dBd".

  • @Centrum Yeah Trapper (being the original flagship of the game) is really outdated with current DBD times.

I know its been suggested many times before but I would like to see something along the lines of:

-Starts with all Traps in hand (Or have the Trapper bag as a default power)

-Unopened traps are viewed as white aura / Active traps are viewed in red aura / Sabotaged traps are viewed in yellow aura

-Trap setting speed slightly increased from base

-Escape attempt cannot start until 5 seconds have passed (just so you don't get that RNG first time escape making the journey across map useless for Trapper)

-Hitboxes of traps looked into (right now there are places where a survivor can step around a trap that the Trapper himself cannot, its odd)

    -Full shirtless cosmetic

These are just some ideas I've either had myself or that have been mentioned by others. I don't think Trapper is horrible once you actually get things up and running but the time commitment/investment often leaves you spending the whole match on the back foot.

Tell that to Marth and his taking every killer from rank 20 to rank. No perks no addons. Understand I'm not saying that is realistic for everyone. But saying killers need more blood points because of addons us ridiculous. Giving better blood points to survivors means those who play both have more points to spend where needed.

I never said it wan't possible to get to rank 1 without add-ons as a killer, in fact you can do the same with survivor.

My point is you have "free" options to get items and add-ons as a survivor but you do not have those options as killer, hence more BP for killers.

    @ProfessorDunwich said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/793638#Comment_793638

I'm not saying killers shouldn't get more. I'm saying survivors shouldn't get so little. For me it comes down to unlocking perks in the bloodweb, also I rarely use add-ons for survivor or killer, so your argument does not really apply.

I'm with you on the fact that the DBD grind only gets worse with each new character release (the new Bloodweb sort of helps...sort of) and I am not against either side gaining more BP. I was simply explaining why it is that killer currently gets more (as a means to balance item/add-on economy). If they decided that every match they wanted to give both sides more BP I'm all for it but if survivors started making the exact same as killer each match then I would question their plans to balance the discrepency with add-ons/items.

As for my argument about items/add-ons "not applying" I have to say that simply because YOU do not use items does not make the fact that there is a add-on/item economy difference any less true.

I rarely use items as a survivor (unless I have a daily) but I often run Plunders 3 and Ace in the hole. I have gotten so many skeleton keys and various other green/purple items (for free) simply thanks to these perks. Do I think this is a bad thing? No. However I can easily say I have amased a few houdred thousand BP worth of items from these perks that I never spent a single BP on. As a killer I cannot do this. If I want add-ons I have NO other choice but to spend BP and for this reason I am forced to spend these points and hope to RNG that I get what I want.

Edit: I just wanted to say that in no way do I want anything written here to seem like I'm being "negative/yelling" at either of you. Sometimes (especially when in dissagreement) people can read a wall of text as though the person writting it was specifically being mad or upset with the reader. I am simply saying my peace and you may take or refuse whatever you will. Just figured I'd write this in as sometimes a seemingly normal conversation can come off as "toxic" to some. ^.^

This is it, guys and gals. I’m forever exposed as a sweaty survivor main who cares about his rank.

I’ve always been competitive. I played team sports as a kid until graduating high school. I played Counter Strike 1.6 at a pretty high level (cal-m) in college. I golf in tournaments and money matches all season long. It’s just in my nature to be competitive; that also applies to DBD.

I can’t tell you exactly why, but my favorite part of each ladder reset is climbing back up to Rank 1 as a solo. There’s a sense of accomplishment knowing that I took the hard road and still made it to the top. It scratches the itch to be competitive.

Lots of people comment about how sweaty and lame everyone plays at red ranks, but I’ll continue to argue that it’s easily the most fun rank to play in. There are no free escapes. There are no free downs. You have to work for everything you get. Survivors know their loops. Killers know how to mind game. You’re playing against the people who put the most time and effort into the game. Sure, there are a few boosted potatoes on each side, but they are few and far between.

So, for anyone else out there who actually cares about your rank and cares about being good or getting better: you’re not alone. Good luck out there!

Ugh I can smell your stench from here!

In all seriousness everyone (even the people who do play casually like me) care about rank to some extent.

For example I do not try to get to rank 1 every reset because I simply don't play enough games or care to, but I do try and get out of yellow and green ASAP!

    Edit: Spell check

  • @ProfessorDunwich said:

I think other actions should be brought up to par with unhooking, instead of making unhook less. The points you get for survivor is pretty abysmal compared to killer.

Killers get more points in general because in order to keep up with add-ons a killer HAS to spend Bloodpoints in the Bloodweb.

Survivors can simply search a chest or take something from another survivor to increase their items/add-ons. They even have perks that allow them to get rare and ultra rare add-ons/items without spending anything.

If they manage to balance the economy then there wouldn't be need for killers to spend more on upkeep, however until such time it makes sense that killers make more BP to compensate for this discrepancy.

Or if you're a Survivor it's the case with Surviving the match... you can die and still have a good time.

Small survey, just out of curiosity./

Rank 20-15 : Easy games against new players or SWF trolls. (High level of DCs)

Rank 14-9 : Easy games with the occasional decent player nearing rank 9.

Rank 8-6 : Decent players who understand the game and the occasional SWF that destroys you.

Rank 5-1: Good survivors that can put up a challenge with a decent amount of games against coordinated nightmares. Funny enough I also see the most DCs here (with the exception of rank 20s) often to try and spawn the hatch.

I find getting to rank 1 more time consuming than difficult but you will get upset by losing a pip due to DCs, horrible killer emblem system or horrible hatch spawn locations.

Overall I don't find rank 1 bad as the SWF nightmares are not overly common (I play PS4) and most games will simply be good survivors that provide a fun challenge. The level of this challenge will depend on your killer and map so RNG will effect your performance. Also because I play PS4 most people don't bother sending hate mail and the few who do always give me a laugh.

TLDR: Rank 1 is typically fine but when you do get the coordinated SWF groups it highlights the games fundamental balance flaws, thankfully these games will not be common enough to completely destroy your night.
