We all know how annoying it is when survivors get traps off on first try and we all know how annoying it is to search every box or die because you had to search every box and piggy would occasionally disrupt you to make your timer go down a bit.

I’m not 100% sure how to make the boxes skillful but I know how to lessen another problem, just make it so that if Piggy is within ten meters of the trapped survivor then the trap will temporarily deactivate, also, Piggy should be 110% ms while crouching.

Traps timer stops when the Pig is chasing you and the "chase" persist for 5 or so seconds after breaking line of sight. I don't understand how 10m is needed. If Pig is just starting/breaking chase then she is either wasting a ton of time on you or not actually being a threat as you can just turn around and go back.

I agree completely about the RNG removal though, as even with the increase box add-ons you may have all 4 get off first try effectively wasting your add-ons. I wonder if having skillcheck affecting perks also affect the Jigsaw boxes would be too much? Or if it would actually solve anything.

The third in this short quartet of forums, I would like you to give your opinions on the best starting killer for new players based on how easy they are to learn and how easy they are to master. Don't forget their three teachable perks and their overall reputation amongst the community. Also keep in account their overall dominance when it comes to matches.

Note: No DLC will be included. The Huntress WILL be an option this time around due to members thinking that David should've been included in my survivor ones.

Note 2: The Doctor and The Hag will be on the list as console exclusives.

Toss up between Doctor and Wraith.

Doctor (not the new rework) power was a tool that allowed new players to find survivors on maps they have no knowledge of. It gave them a quick was to get into chases so they could play cat and mouse rather than hide and seek. This power drops off once you gain some skill though because predicting where people will be isn't hard with experience.

Wraith sort of worked like Doctor in the fact that his invisibility allowed you to get into chases quicker without the survivors "dissapearing" when you're a new player who cannot follow tracks. This gives new players a feeling like they are chasing rather than always trying to search. While Wraith may have a powerful playstyle (made popular by Tru3 but not invented by Tru3) he falls off if you do not adhere to this strict build/style.

If you are a player who is well versed in horror games and grasps the simple mechanics of tracking then I would suggest starting with Hillbilly or Hag.

Hillbilly will give you mobility so you can get into the chases faster since you seem good at following where people will be.

Hag will allow you to gain a feel for loops on maps and set you up to learn popular spots survivors like to run to and teach you a little about trap placements.

If an original DBD killer were to appear in Smash Bros Ultimate, which would you like to see?

EDIT: I could only include 10 of the 12 original killers. Sorry Wraith and Clown.

Simply put if a character from a franchise is being brought over they typically want to go with the "poster boy/girl" so players can more easily detect where they are from. Trapper would have to be the first to be introduced for this reason.

Which survivor character do you find gives you the worst time as killer? Which tends to be the most obnoxious or toxic?

Low rank survivors. For some reason they are always trying to balance the game...

    Just that your opinion

As we've seen first with the Springwood rework and more recently with the Lery's rework, the devs are adjusting totem spawns to be less obvious map by map as they rework each one. However, it seems like we only get two map reworks per year, so it might be quite a while before all the maps have decent spawn locations.

As for the rest, there's no indication yet that the developers have any plans for adjusting cleansing times or reworking Thrill Of The Hunt.

I wouldn't call the new Lerys totem spot great. They still have the "middle of the hallway" and "right beside that chair in the open" spots.

Good morning denizens of the fog! Today I was kind of curious if you implemented any self imposed rules for your playstyle. For me personally I hate dealing with people falsely reporting me, accusing me of cheating, belittling me, throwing racial slurs at me, and going on my steam page to harass me fr several weeks (yes I have had people write multiple negative comments on my profile over the course of two weeks). To kind of mitigate this I sub consciously implemented self imposed rules.

I did not realize it, but I have become a much nicer killer then when I first started playing. Some of these rules include I will never use a motu unless someone is on their death hook, if someone unhooks someone else in front of me I let the injured survivor go, if a person dcs before 2 gens are done I let at least one person go.

I did not realize I started doing this until recently, however even straining myself to pretend I don't see survivors near hooks ready to rescue, going easy on people that are injured or simply took a left instead of a right. However as I continue to play I find myself enjoying the game less, getting less kills, and surprise people still insult me. I think the tip of the iceberg was a Swf group that did not perform well. I brought an ebony mori, but I did not use it till they were on their death hook. I even slugged two of them so try got one more chance since they only had completed 2 gens by that point. However they still lost and the last person died before the 4th generator was done. I showed mercy on them multiple times and I was still met with a slur of insults and informing me I would not have gotten a single kill if I did not bring a mori.

I still subconsciously follow my own silly rules and wanted to know if any other killer or survivor did the same thing. Have a good day fellow denizens ^^

I do but not in the way you mentioned.

The rules I create for myself are more for specific challenges. For example I may decide I want to only want to hit people with my Demo-goodboi dash, or I may limit myself to jump-scare hits only.

The rules I create are more for my own enjoyment than anything else. I will make the choice to not go for someone if I can tell they are below my level of play (as to not complete ruin their match experience) but I don't make this a rule.

As a survivor my favorit "ruleset" is the Pluders challenge, where I play based on the items I get from the chests. Each item equates a different focused objective from saves/heals to gen jockey to totem finder. This focus changes as the items break and I find new ones.

I've seen people say a lot that killers hold the game hostage and I can't think of a way that they can to be honest. Everything they do is on a timer. Let me be clear, I don't care if killers or survivors hurt your feelings, I'm talking about he ability to leave a game.

Point: only survivors can hold a game hostage.

Edit: I didn't consider body blocking survivors into a corner or a room. That's a pretty despicable thing to do.

Slugging - you'll die eventually, sure you have to sit and die but there is an end

Camping - you lose points, it's a bummer and frustrating but the killer loses points too. It's basically mutually assured destruction. Still, a hook is a timer and when you die, while sad, the game goes on.

Non-participation - the killer broke and just stands there. No gen pressure means you can just do the gens and leave. He's not preventing you from doing literally anything. Not sure what broke in them but it happens.

Tunneling - you're an easy target or the killer has decided you're the guy. When you die, the game will continue.

In contrast, what happens if a group of survivors refuses to do gens and is a swf or just better than the killer. Is there a way for the game to end that doesn't involve disconnecting? I can't think of one but there could be.

If I'm missing something let me know.

I dont know if tou notice, but i'll male it simple, devs balance the game around low rank survivors "fun"

If you go with your skill against potatoes, devs will see that as:"this killer is op on low ranks" ragardless of who is using it.

Tldr: if you dont want more nerfs than wjat we are already having, please stop deranking willingfully.

    Hope i made myself clear....

I play a couple games every month or so. since I have played the game a ton (day 1 PS4) and know how to compete at rank 1 (both sides) when I do decide to jump into a match rank reset has me back at rank 20. For this reason I steamroll (either side) and then take my break again. Rank will never matter to me because I don't play enough, and when I come back to see I'm rank 20 my skill/knowledge of the game hasn't decayed that I cannot stomp new players.

Maybe I'll try to practice using my butt checks next time I do a few games.

I'm making this post to announce to the general dead by daylight community just how angry I am about (generic hackneyed complaint) while offering no unique or nuanced explanation outside of how mad I am.

My reasoning is simple: (generic and biased observation) and I think the entire Dev community needs to resolve these problems because I specifically have the most important complaints or observations over everyone else. At this point, I will now continue my hackneyed monologue to express my extreme malcontent.

The solutions I present (assuage my demands) will fix every problem I've identified (apply aforementioned linear bias) and should be taken very seriously because I'm angry.

Obviously Behavior doesn't care about the gaming community because I don't get the single response I demand. So you will need to assuage my anger or else I will quit this game forever and return in a couple of months to express how mad I am while I still play the game I quit.

Billy is already balanced. His base kit does not need a cooldown.

I also highly doubt they change his base kit. It's only bad survivors who think it's not balanced.

BHVR loves adding cooldowns to killer powers. I agree Billy is balanced but if we take a look at the past then we can easily predict this WILL come to pass. BHVR here we go again....

  • The perk doesn't have a cooldown in the traditional sense. It keeps the aura for 8 or 12 seconds however it will continue to reset at the end of each respective interval.

So having a "pop" every 8 seconds as apposed to 12 seconds is preference not performance.

    Survivor equivalent

    The rules are simple:

    • The gameplay must be your own. You cannot use anyone else's. It must be you playing.
    • You must play as Dwelf. You cannot play any Killer and you cannot play any other Survivor.
    • You cannot use Items of any kind.
    • You cannot use Offerings of any kind.
    • You cannot use any Perks.
    • You cannot interact with lockers, totems or whatever else isn't a gen.
    • You can only do gens. Don't run if the killer comes. Gens ONLY.
    • You must escape with all four Survivors every match.
    • You cannot disconnect from a match, regardless of map or if you're losing.

If Gen rush is truly broken, then you should be able to easily escape every single match regardless of map, whether or not you're up against adept Killerss or any other factor besides the genspeed alone.

Looking forward to seeing the results

(Not trying to make a statement other then how silly that challenge sounds)

"Don't run if the killer is coming"

I don't see the comparison here. Gen rushing is about doing gens while making killer waste time, not being a easy hook magnet.

  • @Livearth said:

I mean tier 1 give you 8 seconds to know 2 or more survivors are in a gen, tier 3 give you 12 seconds to know 2 or more survivors are in a gen, has no sense, you want notifications that are close to real time not at the contrary... So I realize that I waste many BP with bad Discordance tier 3.

While I understand people enjoy having the "explosion" happen ever 8 seconds instead of 12, I personally find it annoying and find tier 3 better.

Tier 1 isn't better than tier 3 its just a preference people have.

-Healthy survivors who 'look up' as they jog toward the open exit gates.

-The side to side movement survivors do whilst being chased.

-People who go on incessantly about the inclusion of Quentin in swimming trunks.

-People with the concerning obsession of having Michael Myers go topless.

    - The constant references to 'Daddy Myers'.

-When you're injured and desperately trying to dash out the exit gates, and you have some spoon healthy survivor farting about in front of you, click-flashing the killer.

-When you allow some spud to heal you...and they miss a skill check...and give your location away...and you get downed.

-When you're in a dying state but you've found a great hiding place...and then a survivor in a chase runs right up to you and gives your location away. Brill. Cheers for that.

survivors act like they get tunneled every match and they whine about male believe stories. They only remember the 5 matches in a row that they got screwed but never remember the 5 matches they get away with murder

you have to gear this game around the best killer mains and survivor mains. The new players will come eventually.

I'm a fan of iri head,it is crazy strong and I love it with lvl 3 belt, they have the best synergy in the game imo.

Huntress belongs to s+ tier, since her range and looping is incredible and her map presence is unrivaled. I love her playstile and gameplay, perfect in my book.

Lately,I chose to go the "DEATH huntress build"

I bring iri head with a belt and a Mori. The game ends in 5 minutes and I always get flamed in post chat, hilariously funny imo.

A good huntress without add-ons and perks can easily dominate the survivor team.

To be fair - DBD is a fairly cheap game. I have over 3k hrs in this game, compared to what some titles give me for way more money...

I mean, my favorite example is "The Order 1886". I am a big fan of the design, but the game was worth 70 Euros at release for like 10 hours of gameplay, a lot of those cutscenes. This means, that I would have paid 7 Euros per hour. Now I would say that I spent like 150 Euros on DBD so far. Just calculate the value.

Furthermore, regarding Cosmetics: They are 100% optional. You dont need any of them. And for DLCs, as long as it is not licensed, you dont have to pay a single Cent either. And even the Perks can be available for free in the Shrine.

So yeah, DBD is a cheap game, and even if the Cosmetics are relatively expensive, compared to the Coregame, they are completely optional and nobody will be at disadvantage when not buying them.

I agree they are optional but that wasn't the question.

I could offer a coffee at my shop that cost 100$. Is that too expensive for a coffee? Yes it is, even if its optional.

I'm also not arguing about DBD being pretty cheap for a game but rather the concept of a single skin costing 1/3 the game. The effort put into creating the game as a whole far exceeds the time of a single skin and the correlation in price always throws me off when it comes to micro-transactions.

If you think its a fair price that's great, if you don't mind spending the cash on it that's fine. It's your money and you may do with it as you please (unless you stole it from me then please return it). This is simply my point of view on my frustration around the price difference between the two.

  • I think the price is pretty steep, but i honestly think most skin prices in many games are. I understand that games such as this need to make money through other means but its pushed too far most times.

    @Aven_Fallen said:

Nope. Cosmetics are not generated for free, there are people working on it. And the Art Team of DBD is 10/10.

I agree the art team at BHVR is amazing and I love the work they do however I also look at it like this:

I pay 30$ for the game, a huge package with tons to do.

I pay 5-10$ for DLC that comes with new survivors, killers, perks and powers all mostly bug free ^.~

I pay 10$ for a single character skin that gives me nothing aside from a new look (unless I'm killer then I pay 10$ so others can see my new look...)

I just think the price is too damn steep for what we get. I have purchased the charity packs because you get a nice bundle of items for the price. I cannot swallow the fact that a single skin cost 1/3 of the games price. In fact they would most likely get more money from me if I felt the price was reasonable because instead of buying 1 skin the whole year I might be tempted to purchase 3 or 4.

    ----------------------

    Another example is FFXIV:

I paid 80$ for the whole game with all DLC (sure it was a sale as I think I saved 30$)

I could then pay 40$ for a single mount. A mount that functions the same as all the free mounts in the game that came fully packaged for the above price.

It boggles my mind that single cosmetic items cost damn near the same price as a whole game! Unless the art team is making some serious moola per hour I don't understand the outrageous price discrepancy.

Maybe someone with an actually business perspective behind the scenes could enlighten me as I view this simply from a consumer side who makes an average wage and scoffs at these sorts of things most of the time.

Im always hoping for that one killer to be in my lobby, who knows how to play the killer too. I LOVE Doctor, he's always been so fun to face because he gave me my first true scare. I had no idea what I was going up against when I got forced into tier 1 madness, and it terrified me. So happy to see Doc is getting a rework. He was also the first DLC I ever bought🖤

Another question is how often do you get to face your favorite killer? Do you enjoy their mori's? I know I love getting mori'd by Doctor as strange as that sounds. What makes them your favorite killer? Can you counter them well or are you constantly being outplayed by their abilities? Are they challenging or just well-designed?

Even though I know they are not the best killer I still find Myers to be my favorite match up.

I really enjoy not knowing who it is by a terror radius making you a little jittery at the start of a match.

I really enjoy hearing that first EW tier 2 music pop and the instant "oh ######### is it me!?".

I LOVE the constant fear during a chase that at any moment that EW tier 3 might pop.

To me I think Myers is the only killer that I get a true horror feeling from. I enjoy the thrills and chills he gives me from start to finish. Ghost face is a close second for a lot of the same reasons I just find the "LOS" noise that plays when you break him out of stealth sort of ruins the immersion for me.

  • HAHAHAHAHA I just responded to that post!

    What amazing timing ^.^

  • I agree map layout/tiles are the real time killer and make up a large portion of why you cannot pressure gens, however I won't rule out gen times still needing to be addressed. I just don't think gen speed needs the attention as much as maps however unless we see these maps being addressed quickly gen speed may need to be a quick band-aid fix until such time as most maps can get this face lift.

I hate band-aid fixes but a temporary solution beats a long period of broken BS.

EDIT: Sorry I tagged the wrong post, but its still a post of yours ^.^

I'm more or less of the same opinion, barring 4 toolboxes (often with BNPs). Same goes for tunneling as well. There's a difference between the killer choosing to go for the same guy and getting unhooked and doing a gen, then expecting them not to go for you. They both get thrown around a lot and it really starts to make them lose all meaning.

    @Carlosylu said:

I might have an unpopular opinion but there's no such thing as "gen rushing" it's called "bad gen pressure byt he killer" or "the killer decided not to hurt everyone he could if they were all on the same gen forcing them to loose time healing".

And about the tunneling, it's just dumb, unless he dared to teabag you... Tunneling is counterable btw

I'm both killer and survivor red ranks, xbox

To an extent I can agree but many times as a killer chases me off a gen, then turns around to go check that other gen thinking I'm gone I just immediately come back. My pressure is never actually gone because unless you do chase me I'm right back on that generator meaning you can't leave me alone.

Most killers cannot keep pressure on generators when people do this and its not even a skillfull move you just literally go back to the gen when not being chased. If the killer commits a little more time to really chase you off then they lose pressure on the other gens, if they just make you run a few meters then turn around to check another gen they do little to stop your pressure as you simply turn around too.

Stealth killers can get away with pressure simply because the fear of never knowing if they actually left or not makes you doubt yourself (although some maps don't have great LOS breakers so even this tactic has limits).

The only time you will see a killer truly stall gens is when the survivor team cannot do Ruin skillchecks (being removed), the team spends too much time trying to insta save off hooks (meaning you now have 2 less people on gens), or the team is just afraid to do gens in general.

When I play survivor its 99% solo and I typically do the majority of the gens always applying some measure of pressure. This pressure just gets easier to apply as I get to the upper red ranks and others understand this basic concept.

    EDIT: Spelling errors.

  • Simply put unless I know the streamer and can confirm they and their community are chill I won't take the chance. There are too many immature people out there that take anything against someone they idolize (beating them at a game for example) as a personal attack who then try and ruin everything and anything for you.

Thankfully this is a pretty rare occurrence with, me getting well known streamers in a lobby, but I don't think its worth the risk if you don't know.

    According to devs:

    • 2K, 2 escapes is a draw game (and what they want)
    • 3K and obviously 4K are a win

So, you had a game where you clearly won and you still complain ?

These crying baby killers ... .seriously ... !

Actually he had a game that shouldn't have punished him for playing well with horrible mechanics such as "no gen hatch".

You can literally go afk in a corner and spin in circles to avoid crows doing absolutely nothing the whole match just to get an escape at the end because....sure why not.

    Inspired by this https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/120423/weird-facts-about-yourselves#latest

I decided to make a forum asking some facts about you guys!!! (Also I love the creator of that forum)

Fun fact about me,I wanna be a Dev! Not specifically for dbd but I would like to! I fear microorganisms. I can express myself better in English than my native language (which if you want me to reveal you I don't mind)

My pov is smaller than the average person, it's 3/4

How about you? Let me know below!

    I'm perfect in every way!

I tend to lie about myself!

I'm always honest when it comes to my lack of flaws!

...Did I mention the lying yet?

  • Leatherface....

    I don't own him.

They're slowly coming in. The meaty changes are going to be a little while longer, but we started to add some things in now for the time being. Earlier today we updated the BHVR profile pictures to be consistent with our branding, but that made the dev posts stick out less than before. To compensate, we went ahead and added those fancy dev trackers now so they're easier to distinguish.

    Also, >

I see you added Tentacle por- I mean Entity legs in the background....Entity...phew.

Is 'Yes Men' code word for 'Trusted'????

While I understand those with the "Trusted" label being far more cautious with their wording I have seen a couple who do not shy away.

I do not believe BHVR would remove anyone's "Trusted" status provided the criticism is civil and not hate filled, but I am not labeled as such and therefore cannot speak to any anxiety or unintended pressure they may feel to do so.

If the entity gave me a choice? Full suit of armor.

If no choice, I’m usually in sweat pants, T-######### and flip flops.

if I could bring in an item, brass knuckles if guns wouldn’t be allowed.

Going to assume you mean T-shirt....

    ....unless....
