Off topic; this is my 100th post,so wahooo!!!!

Into the real topic. I've been looking around forums, left and right and everyone that is mad about the ruin changes say the same thing; "devs don't play their game, devs don't listen to killers". Since my dream job is becoming a dev,in any game really,I'll explain why I think devs listen, with some proof for the intellectuals.

Patch 3.4,November 2019,the death of balanced landing, along with some undetectable buffs.

Patch 3.2.0, September 2019, undetectable and oblivious are added to the game. Along with the new dlc, stranger things.

Patch 3.2.1, September 2019,shred now breaks pallets by default.

Patch 3.1.0,July 2019,Freddy got his rework, making him the most lethal killer according to behavior's polls and information that they gathered. Freddy's rework was a success and Freddy got a lot of love.

I could continue, but I didn't wanna bother to put too much information. Moral of the story is that devs actually hear the communities opinion. They have to put some priorities. The doctor and the ruin reworks were leaked to get a buff, and the devs are thinking alternatives for ruin. The devs aren't survivor sided and of course they play their game. It is difficult to balance a game,so I believe we should let them do their work.

Think it like this; a Dev on dbd has around 3-4+ years game balancing experience in this game,I don't even count if they worked for other games before. They have 3-4 more years of balancing than we all do. So my suggestion is to keep calm, and move on.

I was also really frustrated,at first, about the ruin changes. I said it was "a beginning of a new era" and indeed it is,but not a bad one. If you honestly want to quit playing killer,or the game in general, because they altered an addition to the game that was ruining new player's experiences, then you are the problem not the game.

It is justified to be angry at these changes, but please stop uploading forums like "any suggestions for a new game, cuz the devs on this one don't give a 💩" or "devs don't listen" or even "I'm quitting dbd". It is hard to see these kind of posts,so just stop doing that.

I am aware about the comments I'll receive, but I'll still upload this. I'm not afraid to help the community, the game and the devs to this hard trip.

Please, tell me your opinion down below. I am interested to hear from you guys.

Guess it will be a happy 100th forum for me :3

The Devs DON"T LISTEN because its all text, they READ.

This would be my killer skin, just stay off the gens and nobody sees something they don't want to.

I’m uninstalling because I have an important presentation for work on Friday and don’t want to be too tempted to play! :)

Edit 1: It’s been 2.5 hours, and I’m already starting to feel the effects of no DBD. My brain wants the adrenaline rush of escaping against a NOED Plague or a Territorial Imperative Huntress, but I will not give in.

Why not make your presentation about why you need DBD in your company?

    Its a win, win!

You guys definitely make it too apocalyptic. Ruin wasn't that great of a perk even before the nerf: you cannot rely on a hex perk. Just play whitout it and learn to apply pressure.

Survivors on all gens or maybe even just two.

I love it when I hear Dwight go “ooh” when he’s working on a totem. It’s just so cute, almost as cute as his butt.

My favorite sound in the game is the scream that Claudette makes when she gets pulled out of a locker. It’s just so well done, I can’t get enough of it. Sometimes I’ll motion for a Claudette to get into a locker. If she does, I’ll let her escape the map.

That sexy wet slapping sound the Wraith makes as he walks on floors.

    Ooooooooooh yeeeeeeeah!

How am i salty lol. Can u deny the fact that there are alot of killer and survivor posts on the forums that are toxic and entitled. Both sides act entitled and toxic

No I mean that's why people hate on one another....they enjoy the salt.

  • @Respectfulnancymain said:

Killers act as if survivors are crybabies and toxic but killers complain about every single nerf they get. when balanced landing was nerfed the posts i saw were survivors giving reasonable ideas to balance balanced landing and make it a fair perk and a few toxic posts. When ruin nerf was announced the posts im seeing are killers saying there gonna tunnel and bring moris. Im not hating on killers but u guys need to admit that survs arnt the only entitled ones in the community. Don't hate me plz

I got too many free hits, kills and even grabs with that perk. Even if you dont get anythingt out of this perk, survivors will be aware and might just hide and not even heal. Especially on maps like lerys, the game etc. Ppl should really get out of their comfort zone and try new perks like this. It is kinda sad to see such potential and good ideas of perks wasted.

I personally don't find a need for it as keeping track of/predicting where people have run off too has become pretty easy. As you gain more experience with maps and playstyles I find tracking perks to become slowly more obsolete. Not saying they cannot be fun or occasionally useful (love Nurses) but you find you don't rely on them as much.

  • I see the merit to both (Plague especially) but I prefer using Bond. I enjoy Bond because not only do i get to see teammates and what they are doing but I can also factor in their aura behavior to mean other things.

Example: I can see Dwight is slowly crouching around a rock, maybe the killer is near with no TR, maybe he sees the killer coming towards him, maybe he is a potato.

Its more so I can be entertained while holding M1.

  • @AlibabaNight said:

Wraith mains why do you personally play the wraith i personally play wraith once in a while because his "invis" is cool

I only play Wraith because waaaaay back in the day when they changed his add-ons I suddenly had over 60 Coxcombed clappers. Now I get to play "Jumpscare Wraith" for the rest of my days.

    Let me help you.

BHVR: BBQ & Chilli is a perk used in over 80% of the games in red ranks and rewarded killers for minimal effort, resulting in frustration for the survivors. To remedy this issue, we decided to alter the aura reading ability, to reveal the killer to the survivors after they hook someone.

Are you sure you don't already work for BHVR?

  • @LordGlint said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/992973#Comment_992973

That doesnt sound like behavior at all. The solution to BBQs aura reading would be "removed aura reading from ALL killer perks/addons. Jk, was just remembering their response to legion's knife addons.

Legion is a whole different beast. When employees at BHVR get frustrated or angry they have a special room with one of those blow up "punch em dolls" that they beat up and hurl insults towards.

  • Oh I do not doubt that BHVR reads the posts (not all as there are too many to see) but as to the amount of feedback they actually take in, well past PTBs can speak for themselves.

  • BHVR - The aura reading of BBQ rewarded killers without much effort and survivors found this frustrating. To remedy this we have removed the aura reading ability from BBQ.

After all "its just for BP" as we hear oh so often.

  • Don't worry we will see more of this as BHVR caters to the new players and makes things easier for them. Soon everyone will develop a "god complex" and complain anytime they lose.

  • @OmegaXII said:

Seriously, most of the time survivors are holding m1 and dealing with some skill checks. Doing gens, healing, sabotaging hooks, disarming traps, mending, etc... no skills, and not fun

The only thing that needs skill is the chase, and it's the core element of fun for survivors. BUT, killer can only chase 1 survivors at a time. So.. in some match you don't even need be chased to win.

So... i think it's time for devs to do an overhaul to survivor's gameplay.. What do you think?

"Seriously, most of the time survivors are holding m1 and dealing with some skill checks"

Don't worry it seems BHVR is taking those skillchecks out. After all survivors find it "frustrating" and cannot hit them apparently.

This is one my my hopes for DBD in 2020. Could you imagine if all the realms got the same treatment that Lerys did? It would be so amazing, plus I think some of the older realms definitely need a facelift. I know gameplay should always be the priority but I think presentation is important too!

You mean proper though and consideration?

That's a lot of work for the one person at BHVR don't you think?

All "joking" (maybe) aside the art team really doesn't disappoint in this game.

  • @stylisticx said:

I think it'd be super hectic but could be really fun. Or it would just be double the toxicity on either side lol.

They can't balance 1 killer vs 4 survivors why on earth would I want double the mess?

  • The sad part is (to the people explaining how to work around the perks shown in this picture) Ruin also had a clear and simple counter, learn to hit skill checks, gen tap, or cleanse totem and yet it still got gutted.

  • @Colton147 said:

Majority of maps are balanced with a few exceptions (Haddonfield and Asylum for Survivors/Hawkins and Game for Killers). Coldwind, and Ormond, while known to be survivor-sided, can still work out for the killer - especially Billy, Huntress, Spirit, Freddy, and possibly Nurse.

There is always Haunted Grounds and possibly Thrill of the Hunt to counter Inner Strength.

Adrenaline is hit or miss; it is either amazing, or it may end up becoming a useless perk.

Decisive Strike is one-time use; slugging is a great option.

Unbreakable is one-time use and is hit or miss.

Self-care is countered by Sloppy Butcher, and Thanatophobia.

    ---

The killer perks I listed above is still enough to slow the game with or without Ruin. Genrush does not really exist; you need to apply better pressure. Killers are not entitled to 4Ks each and every time (while survivors shouldn't expect to escape each game either).

Besides, killers will receive more bloodpoints than survivors no matter what. 😉

Ugh can't believe I'm having to explain this again...

Killers get more BP than a single survivor (each can earn the same but killers earn it more consistently) due to the fact that ALL of a killers add-ons HAVE to come from the Bloodweb.

A survivor player can keep any items and add-ons they used during a match if they escape, they can find more/new stuff from chests for free, they have a perk that lets them get EVERY rarity item from chests (even every rarity add-ons with Ace in the Hole for a chance at 2!) all free.

Killers do NOT keep add-ons after a match, killer cannot gain add-ons during a match, killers do not have perks that give them add-ons.

So a killer has to spend MORE bloodpoints than survivors to keep their add-ons supplied, thus the reason they need to gain more bloodpoints. Its due to the imbalance of item/add-on economy and is meant to help even the playing field on this matter.

  • @johnmwarner said:

Seriously, every time someone mentions corrupt to replace ruin someone (maybe the same person) chimes in with “corrupt is useless survivors can just wait out two minutes then your perk did nothing. Unless you are trapper or Hag it’s trash.”

I would argue even if the whole team did that you just pretend the whole team spent two minutes looking for ruin and then found it. That’s still a pretty good scenario right?

However as a killer using it I have always had at least one person do gens, sure the others hide and seek totems/chests but that is actually better for you. That means you’re chasing one player and that others aren’t doing jack to get the game done.

As a survivor I’m still going find a gen, yes it takes me closer to a killer but so be it, I’ve been found in 20 second even without Corrupt.

I guess against a SWF in comms they could just decide to hide for two minutes but that’s not as common as people would lead you to believe. And again, even if they do that just pretend all four spent two minutes looking for Ruin instead of doing gens.

I don't believe it will be a big problem (people waiting/hiding the 2m) unless it becomes a meme. However the survivors who struggled with Ruin (and apparently don't need to learn mechanics or get better) probably will simply hide for 2m and then complain Corrupt isn't fun to play against because they cannot do anything for 2m.

I'm not writing this to act high and mighty but to legitimately point out that these types of players will indeed be born from BHVRs catering.

I am pretty bored right now so i want to read some nice jokes, also i want to see what will this communit post

    Old dad jokes:

1: A rope walks into a bar, the bartender says "Sorry pal we don't serve rope here".

The rope turns around and walks outside, he then splits his hair apart and twists himself up before walking back in.

The bartender says "Hey aren't you that rope I just kicked out?"

No sir, says the rope. I'm a frayed knot.

2: The rear view mirror in my car fell off the other day. Its been a pain adjusting to this but ever since that day I've never looked back.

3: The other day I was playing with Saran wrap making little figures out of the rolled up plastic. It dawned on me that I was technically a Wrap artist.

To solidify this idea I decided to get my friend Alven (we call him Al) to allow me to make a plastic molding of his bum with the saran wrap. After much effort I finished my first piece.

When my other friend asked how my career as a Wrap Artist was going I told him "Great I just released my first Al Bum".

    -----------------

    Old dad facts:

1: A Blue Whale is so large that if you were to spread it across a football field, the game would be cancelled.

2: They say that when the Titanic sank there was so much pressure that many of the tables (cutlery/glasses) actually stayed mostly upright and set in place. Its actually one of the reasons it was so frightening for the original divers who explored the wreck.

However another interesting fact not often mentioned, is that the swimming pool on the Titanic is still full of water.

3: A slice of pie in Jamaica cost $2.50

A slice of Pie in the Bahamas cost $3.50

Just a little fact about the Pie-rates of the Caribbean.

4: If you were to take all the Elephants on Earth and stack them one on top of the other heading towards the moon, they wouldn't like it very much.

Is it a 4k, is it a double pip? what should i consider a win.

what do other killers consider a win?

i havent seen anyone answer this question before, what should be my main objective as a killer?

Your role is to provide an enjoyable experience for 4 other players (survivors). There are a list of rules you must follow and you must make sure to always go after a different target even if the best play would dictate otherwise.

After the match if all 4 have escaped and were made to feel like kings, fueling their hate filled egos towards you in chat then AND ONLY THEN have you won as killer.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Can we once not have a discussion about Gen Speed without the mention of a tru3-Video? This guy is complaining about Gens going to fast while still getting 4Ks...

Tru3 plays this game for a living and is very good at it. He is still entitled to an opinion and you cannot hold his level of play to that of other players.

I mean damn that Fireman was able to put that house fire out no problem with a house so why does my house still burn when I try?

Is there a Perk, or are there any Perks, you think should be part of a Survivor's/Killer's character?

As Killer, i wouldn't mind if Survivors have No One Left Behind and/or Sole Survivor (minus the Obsession mechanic) as standard, though maybe NOLB without the "quicker Altruism actions" part.

As Survivor, i wouldn't mind if the Killer has Shadowborn and/or Stridor as standard, though maybe Stridor without the "louder Injured breathing" part.

Thought it'd make a good discussion.

You got any you'd like to see standard?

The game is not going to die because of a perk change or because a handful of people came to the conclusion because what they wanted they didn’t get and that somehow that makes the devs one sided or biased.

Coming to the conclusion that they are not listening simply because they don’t respond to every little thread (which most just sound very whinny) doesn’t mean they aren’t listening.

Its less to do with the changes themselves but the wording of that "Developer letter", reading it showed just how bias the mindset of these changes were to the "fun of the survivor". It became so clear that BHVR wanted to focus on new players (and new survivor players at that) that they were willing to balance the game around bringing in as much new money as possible while alienating the current playerbase.

I don't give a crap about what the changes are but they just showed their hand for the future of this game and I'm not willing to put my time an effort into something that isn't concerned with its original fanbase. I'm not saying this to sound "elitist" or "entitled" but I bought all the DLC (until Demo/Oni) and even grabbed a few cosmetics because I held out hope they would fix core issues and wanted to support them. Now I see were their main objective lay and what tolerance and patience I had for DBD will be better spent on something else.

I wish BHVR all the best and would never cast scorn towards any particular person but building and maintaining a healthy community will far exceed short term new players in the long run.

Played a few games as Spirit the other day and noticed how helpful Spies from the Shadows is, especially when players are moving stealthily around the outskirts of the map. My question is why don’t more killers use it? Sure, it’s somewhat map dependent (because some maps have tons of crows and some have very little), but I don’t think I’ve ever seen it in a killer’s build when looking at the post-match stats.

I use to run it on my Pig and did enjoy it after awhile. The problem is I can already figure out who is going where and the slot Spies takes up could have been made more useful. Now if you really want to be mean to yourself try the following:

Play Doc and use Spies from the shadows, Infectious fright, Rancor, Discordance

Basically you will have so many explosions on your screen and in your ears you will end up with PTSD.

  • @Chatkovski said:

Thank you for your concern for the new survivors.

There is what the survivors choose, and what they suffer.

DS is chosen and is limited to... 2 uses ideally and at most, with difficult skillchecks.

Ruin - because it's your real concern - is something sudden. Skillchecks are more difficult than DS, and Overcharge, the perfect being equivalent to Overcharge + Unnerving Presence... completely random, and countless if you don't destroy the totem, and even perfect, they are punitive.

Overcharge is every time the killer destroys a generator. The skillcheck is predictable after the first time, but is quite difficult and very punitive if it fails.

Difficult skillchecks must be rare if we want them to remain difficult. For me, the interest of the surviving game is not the absolute mastery of skillchecks.

With Ruin, it was very difficult, systematic, almost every game. Yes, it was logical that the survivors would end up completely mastering all of the skillchecks and that others would rather seek out the Ruin and destroy it as soon as possible. But all this was undesirable, both for the survivors and for the killers.

Yes, new players will probably be less able to master these difficult AND rare skillchecks. Which seems healthy to me. And they can always practice - by choice and not by obligation - on the generators.

So to quote your last sencence about "practice" why then could they not practice with Ruin up? Hell even if you feel you cannot get better through practice you had the ability to outright break the perk through cleansing.

I struggled to do ruin skillchekcs (PS4) back in the day and would always hunt the totem. By doing this I learned many of the totem spawn locations and became quit proficiant at locating it. After deciding I wanted to get better at skillchekcs I stoped going after Ruin and instead focused my attention on it. I now regularly do gens through Ruin as if it weren't even up.

Now that I am a veteran player (PS4 day 1 release) this new Ruin will be as easy to ignore as the screams of the new players I've been putting on hooks.

  • @supersonic853 said:

So if were on the topic of new survivors not being able to hit skill checks what about overcharge and DS? We just gonna make the skill check half the screen? Not like the survivors are kinda hand held now already. Oh and i guess unnerving presence should no longer make the skill checks smaller because then how are the new survivors gonna hit those?

Remember when they showcased the first change to DS, they had the skillcheck be the whole bar so it was imposible to miss? Yeah, you and I jest but that may become a reality.

With The upcoming Ruin nerf, Clown will suck even more but his playstyle does look like fun. I'm in a dilemma should I buy Clown to test him out or should I just save my money?

Only you can decide what your after.

Pros - Cool cosmetics, sort of creepy (he is a clown), greeat Mori animation, PGTW is a great teachable for other killers.

Cons- Next to no map pressure (even worse now), boring power that doesn't do much without great add-ons, boring to look at weapon (personal opinion), has no great perk builds or variety to be competitive.

I have clown because I bought the chapter upon release. For some reason I made a impulse buy just that once and I must say I regret the decision. Kate is ok but she isn't the survivor I play.

With the upcoming Ruin changes it's completely overdue that Decisive Strike will no longer be this annoying crutch that it is right now. I know it's supposed to be an "anti tunneling perk" and I dont mind if I get hit by hit because I immediately chased the unhooked person... but what I do mind hard is if I get hit by it because a survivor did some cocky stuff right in front of my face like repairing a generator a minute after he got unhooked already.

The changes this perk needs to turn it into a true anti tunnel perk are simple:

    • activation timer from 60 seconds to UNLIMITED
    • DS gets disabled immediately if the unhooked survivor 1) got fully healed, 2) touches a generator, 3) sabotages a hook, 4) cleanses a totem or 5) heals another survivor

This perk is not an anti tunneling perk atm. It's basically a "you are a god for 1 minute now. enjoy." perk

You missed the point that killers need to be fun to play against not survivors.
