After all gens are powered, decisive strike gets deactivated.

A band-aid fix, that would make ds more fair.

How is it fair? I had a killer chase me for about 3 ministers while my team finished the last gens and finally down me... he tried to face camp me and the only reason I got out was a brave teammate and me having DS. Why should I get one hooked because he’s mad I led him on a chase?

Good and necessary? For a game that is so casual it borders on being a party game?

It is even for casual players no fun to have in every game dcs. An ideal match has no dcs at all.

A dc penalty helps to achieve this goal on two ways:

-First it gives potential dc people a reason to think about if they really should do it.

-Second it makes it easier for people that not dc to find a match, because the dcing people enjoy their bantimes while the not dcing people can faster join matches.

That is in my eyes a win-win situation.

Yeah just because it’s casual doesn’t mean you should DC whenever you want. Basically every online game has some sort of penalty, look at World of Warcraft, it’s only competitive in online tournaments but “regular play,” has a DC penalty when you leave your group.

  • @BlindMole said:

I really don't like pullers (as a streamer) but that really sucks.

That said, tried to watch him twice and each time he was DC'ing fir absolutely no reason so.... Karma?

While this was different, you aren’t wrong he does DC quite a bit for someone supposed to be an ambassador of the game. This game is “unfun,” I’m DCing... and then people wonder why the average player does it

  • @NekoGamerX said:

just disable for good add bots already this DC penalty not working because the way around it and the hackers.

Seriously, just give us bots and I’d have no issues without a DC penalty

Yeah. No arguments here. I have always said she takes some time to learn, obviously not "Nurse" time to learn. But definitely longer than Freddy.

    1. Learn her power
    2. Learn to use her power efficiently
    3. Get REALLY good headset
    4. volume 100%
    5. Slowly get hearing loss as you blow them out in an attempt to hear survivors
    6. WIN!

But yeah joking aside(was I joking though) she is either the strongest or second strongest killer, but luckily she isn't easy mode. She should still get some changes, though. Not massive changes, but big enough to have just a bit of impact on her.

Yeah if she was easy mode you would see her loads more than you do right now. Honesty sometimes I feel like I have an easier time playing Huntress or Doctor... they may not compete against the top top players but going against random reds I find it easier to play them at loops with shocks or hatchets rather than listening and predicting while Phasing.

  • @HarlowXRaven said:

Why do people camp to get kills im so confused can you not get kills without camping?

Mostly because they feel like camping is better than chasing someone, probably not confident to Catch someone again...

I don’t even care, I’d rather run around all game after people and get 4 hooks and zero kills, not 1 hook and stand in place all game.

When anyone asks this question this is really the only response they need. Every other killer (maybe Hag and Huntress?) can always default to m1 playstyle and at least win some chases. Nurse can't do that unless they're tripping over themselves.

I always feel such shame when I make a bad read or loop and literally walk into a hit from a “walking,” nurse UGH LOL

    @lostboy said:

    Absolutely not.

As a Nurse main who went from rank 1 to rank 8 before learning her I will tell you this... When ever you go against a nurse who has thrashed the team without a sweat and the team are not all yellow ranks I can guarantee you that nursed endured a lot of punishment from survivors before grasping her skill. She is on another level of difficulty and the 'hard' learning curve given to her is an understatement. Spirit learning curve is simple in comparison.

Yup, her learning curve is the only reason you don’t see more of her. If someone really wants to “win,” then learning Nurse well is the only way to practically guarantee that. I’ve tried a few times and have become passable as her, but I can’t keep the muscle memory when I swap killers and swap back so she’ll never be my “main.”

The person on hook has to run this perk, not the savior. They wouldn’t run the perk without having a basic understanding on how it works. If they don’t wanna troll you or hurt the team then they will not abuse the perk and would not do BT strats and run at killer. If you take a safety hit and some how the killer still had enough time to track and tunnel the survivor down, before the perk deactivated, then yeah, you would hit the dirt. Except your on the ground where the killer wouldn’t immediately know, and could potentially be picked up or pick yourself up, unlike if the tunneled survivor went down.

If your concerned about the troll potential, it’s 100% there, as intended. Meant to be able to troll back against any troll/farm tactics your team has against you. It can be used both ways, just like other perks already in game.

I don't think you're getting it. Okay so let's say Mike is a total A-hole and is running this new perk. I head in for a save and right as I go to unhook him hear the killer, 32 meters away so I make the save and then turn and eat a hit for Mike, now I'm injured and Mike has time to run away. Except he doesn't, he stands in that same spot until the killer hits him KNOWING that I will get downed not him. Then as the killer wipes his weapon Mike has time to run away.

  • @Hoodied said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1568857#Comment_1568857

So you just designed a perk rework that would punish the killer for getting near the survivor?

So I am a camper for chasing a survivor going to save the hooked survivor right in front of me?

I’ve lost track of the number of times I was called a camper for seeing someone running for the save as some ad I hook... or hearing someone right behind me as I carry them and then searching for them after the hook... or fending off two teammates trying to bomb the hook at the same time... all cases where it just makes ZERO SENSE to leave.

  • @Deathslinger said:

You could just do what you normally do BHVR. Make a new perk. Whenever you are unhooked, if you are hit within a certain amount of seconds then the damage is mitigated to the rescuer instead.

Survivors will start rethinking unhook bombings if they are punished for it, and solo players who run it can protect themselves from 3 man groups who use the forth as a funny farm gag.

    Just a thought~

Almost a reverse BT, interest. But what about if I hook someone at the edge of terror and they run at the killer? Whether they’re being stupid or trolling I get penalized. Even worse I unhook then, take a protective hug and then they run at the killer... do I go down?

Keep in mind the idea is that you don't necessarily need all 5 tokens, though obviously that's ideal. You just need enough that the survivors start paying more attention for skill checks, which takes away from the attention they would use keeping an eye out for whichever stealth Killer might be nearby.

At least that's how it works in theory. I haven't had enough opportunity to try it more seriously firsthand.

The idea isn't "Lullaby is better than whatever", just that "Lullaby seems like it works really well with this type of Killer"

Fair point, plus it’s FUN sometimes too. I’ve had a couple builds focused around Lullaby and when they work you hear gens regressing left and right.

Obvioisly it pairs well with Dr, and I assume the extra penalty it gives to regression stacks with Overcharge but I’m not sure???

Its also fun to stack Lullaby and one of Freddys regression addons so when the survivors miss on purpose to wake up their gen eats an 21% penalty... bonus is you can actually trigger some failed checks by teleporting or faking a teleport and if they let go at the wrong time BOOM

  • @DaKnight said:

Let's see, I can use a super risky totem that makes skillchecks a little bit harder at 5 tokens.

Or, I can use a totem that lets me 1 shot and mori everyone at 5 tokens.

    Hmmmmm......

True!!! The fact that Devour result kicks in at 3 stacks is amazing, like you said one shot vs slightly harder skill checks okay...

  • I really should have saved the names of everyone who said, “they’re testing other things,” or “relax dude they’re busy,” and if they complain about bug whenever this hits I can video call and laugh at them.

Reminds of me (less seriously) the people who posted pics of being brave and not wearing a mask to Walmart and now have Facebook posts asking for prayers because they and their kids have Covid

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1569838#Comment_1569838

And that is EXACTLY why they don't do it. They fear it would make those add-ons too strong.

Really, too strong might be a bit of a stretch. It would catch you off guard once maybe, similar to how ill sometimes fail Overcharge the first time because I’m half paying attention then I focus.

Even against unnerving and lullaby I’d still take more skill checks to get the hat off faster

  • @Zeidoktor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1569749#Comment_1569749

You know, I wondered about that. So Lullaby doesn't affect the sounds of Jigsaw Box skill checks?

If so, that's too bad. Would have made those "skill checks happen more often addons" more help than what I'd think would be hindrance.

Yeah Lullaby and unnerving presence don’t affect Pig boxes, I assume they don’t affect Pyramid cages either. Bummer too it could be a silly build and get a few extra “deaths,” without the third hook

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1569649#Comment_1569649

There could still be bugs present that they haven't picked up, performance issues for certain hardware they don't have access to that they could fix, and other miscellaneous things. It's not just the chapter we're getting, there's always things they're changing that people on the PTB could notice a problem with and provide feedback on. See the new bloodlust effect, for instance.

The problem with that is the coding, ANY change could cause a totally unrelated bug. For example they fixed Blight double stun according to leaks so what if that causes Legion to not have a stun coming out of Frenzy? Those are the things that can and HAVE happened in the past so they should let people test the new build before it goes live

  • @[Deleted User] said:

So they released an old version of Blight, have an updated version, but we won’t see that until live so who’s testing for bugs and problems?

Considering McLean's been working on Blight forever, him probably. Mostly, anyway. And he wasn't happy about the old build being released onto PTB either.

We're in the middle of a pandemic. Just stop complaining for once and chill.

What does the pandemic have to do with it? They’re presumably still working at home, but whenever they are clicking the buttons who decided to click the old button and not the new one?

    @Elena said:

I really don't understand why some people still defend the devs at this point. I stopped defending them a long time ago.

I don’t get it either, I still play the game it’s fun if you accept it for what it is, but to claim the devs do no wrong and anytime you criticize them you’re called a crybaby or told to chill...

  • @White_Owl said:

Yep, ignoring them is the best counter. Often they will just chase you around begging for attention, which means one less survivor doing gens.

I was going to say this, just chase someone else and they will probably chase you both... if you can ignore the clicking that’s two survivors out of play at once

  • @Chaotic_Riddle said:

Either people purposely trying to de-pip, or bots that people have implemented, which are rare to see but exist. What the bots intended purpose is, we will never know, but they could more than likely just be a player wanting to de-pip OR get free bloodpoints, maybe..?

Yeah you get Iri shards based on time in game whether you do anything or not... the hits give you some extra bloodpoints and presumably mean you can’t be repeated for being AFK although I guess if it’s a bot

  • @LordRegal said:

Depippers or rift grinders, since fragments are earned by playing matches. Unfortunately the way to punish them hurts you too (genrush and leave asap) which is frustrating.

It’s at least better than AFK wraith. You can earn chase and altruism points, plus do gens/totems that should either pip you or at least keep you from depipping. Plus you’ll score some nice Bloodpoints.

Yea it’s boring but for the all ways people depip this is the most “honorable.”

  • @AvisDeene said:

It depends on the Killer you choose. I think any build with Trapper is fun just because I think trying to outsmart the Survivors with trap placement is fun. It’s always delicious when you get an over confident Survivor thinking they escaped and Snap!

Holy Protector of the Divine Chest Bubba can be fun when it works. Insidious is a must and just sit in the basement until one of the infidels attempt to desecrate your Divine Chest.

This is the kind of game where people really can’t tell you what is fun, you have to make your own.

One thing I recently read was how fun Michael is with his wall hack ability to just jump scare Survivors. It may not be super viable, but it is fun. Also, some Survivors throw themselves at Daddy Michael, giving him easy kills, because his raw masculinity is just too difficult to resist.

I agree, my fun builds wouldn’t be fun for everyone. Mirror Myers is fun but I hate wasting map offerings now with people just DCing.

Myers just with Monitor and abuse alone can be fun enough in my opinion.

That's a falacy you're in there. He never said that. He said that he wants to play against survs with their same skill.

That’s weird, if they’re doing 3 gens in 1 minute and obliterate him then would t he naturally be Depipping? Who’s to say the survuvors he’s going against ARENT the same skill? A great many killers think if they’re equal skill that means a 4k... and a great many survivors think equal skill means an escape every game... neither of those is true.

I played killer at red and usually get 2 kills, sometimes none and sometimes 4 so it seems I’m at the right spot even though I don’t think I’m great.

  • Honestly the cooldown are WORSE on Hexes, but the need to add cooldown to perks that don’t require them or justify them at all is getting stupid.

Perks like PWYF and quick and quiet need cooldown but then you get Zuni Tactics and windows of opportunity for example, those would barely be useable perks without CD

  • @MalEducado said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1566704#Comment_1566704

The game need more objectives , maybe find a key into a locker ... And with that key turn on the gen and start to repair ... Something like that ... But they repair in 4 minutes

I think dropping repair time down from 80 to 70 or even 60 seconds, now hear me out, would actually work IF they had to find a part first and the part was somewhat far from the key. This means they wouldn’t have to hold M1 longer, actually shorter, but there was a much greater chance of interacting with the killer at the start

  • @Widden said:

Survivor's only objective is gens. First minute into the game, what should they do ? Just randomly crouching everywhere or stay AFK ? gosh this killer biased community even defend this. You guys are lame

This is why the term Genrush feels so overused. Had a killer who spent the first 3 minutes chasing someone, literally ran about 10 meters from me on a gen and ignored me, then complained in endgame that we gen rushes... uhm we weren’t being chased, had nobody to unhook or heal, WHAT should we have done???

  • @MalEducado said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1566566#Comment_1566566

I have 152 hours in total , I'm main survivor, do u think is a lot of hours ? I can share my profile if the devs give me permission

Are you checking survivor profiles, are you implying all of them are thousand hour players? If those survivors have approx 100 hours in game as well isn’t that a fair match?

i think getting to rank 7 as killer took at least 10-ish hours and that’s assuming you Pipped every game... maybe it took less if you double pipped, but either situation would seem to support that you are right where you should be.

  • @AGM said:

Your numbers are right but this idea of a head start doesn't mean much, because in your numbers you assume the killer's destination is at where the survivor started running from, when the useful information to know is how long it takes to reach the survivor.

In this case, it takes a 4.6m/s killer ~53.3 seconds to catch a survivor holding W with 32m of starting distance between them, and 40 seconds with 24m of starting distance between them.

    For 4.4m/s killers, it's 60s with 24m starting distance, and 40s with 16m.

From this you can clearly see the utility of M&A; it can literally shave off minutes of chase time across your various chases in a trial, but this is under ideal conditions. Results will vary.

Yep I almost went into that as well, but like you said so many factors there to consider. Also I think someone did a really detailed post a while back about how long the second chase would take considering the 2 second speed boost after hit, etc

  • @MalEducado said:

I want to play Vs survivors with my skill, I'm noob, I play Vs noobs , deal? Or cause I'm noob , I will play Vs red ranks? Is not necessary to study in Cambridge to understand that

If you reached rank 7 you aren’t a noob, you at least have a bunch of hours in the game and some measure of skill. Why should rank 20 survivors have to go against you, they just want a game against a brand new killer, deal?

  • @lucid4444 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1564237#Comment_1564237

Them doing chests or totems is them not doing gens. Deathslinger needs all the gen pressure he can get, and this will often waste a lot of time for the survivors. It also flushes them out into the open, and makes the available game field much smaller - something you need as a 110 killer

Thanks. I feel like the same people saying “corrupt does nothing they’ll wait it out,” are the same people whining and sharing links “two gens popped in first minute.”

  • @MadLordJack said:

That is a really quite interesting. There's also a secondary effect to take into consideration, especially for 32m killers: cockiness. Survivors will often wait til they think you're close enough to be a real danger before they run, and even in the rare circumstance where they peg you having M&A they often underestimate how much distance you gain.

Yeah, especially with things like a Sprint burst, or if they feel they’re at a safe loop working on a gen.

    @JustZed32 said:

Dude, math posts are the best - you deserve a vote up <3

  • Oh, I SWORE it used to stop working when a gen hit zero and people called me crazy... if it’s going back to that I don’t see how it’s a nerf, I mean it is a nerf but that’s how it’s supposed to be.

  • @xenotimebong said:

Yep, I feel exactly the same! I understand why so many people use it but I just much prefer tracking and chasing perks. The fun part of playing killer for me is hunting and chasing, so I much prefer aggressive builds to slowdown builds.

Yep that sums up better what I meant above, I’d rather play location and chase perks and spend the whole game actively engaged with survuvors! If that means I get “gen rushed,” and lose in 5 minutes after 2 chases so be it. I’ll just queue up again. A 20 minute game that ends with stealth survivors and a 3-gen strat just isn’t fun for me anymore

  • @Yamaoka said:

Personally I've never used it and probably never will because slowdown perks don't contribute to interesting gameplay. They just prolong the match artifically which is boring for me. I prefer perks that have an "omg the killer runs XYZ perk!"-effect.

That being said I still usually run 1 slowdown perk as gen speed is... Well... Way too quick at times but it's never been Pop Goes The Weasel so far.

I’m with you usually, I’d rather run Devour Hope for example just in case it lasts, and if it doesn’t activate or gets cleaned oh well the next game is just a click away.

    @Masochistic_Killer said:

Surge and PGTW are the two best and can even work well together. Surge can save you a fair bit of time if you get good down spots and can hit multiple gens at once but when you really want to crush dreams PGTW is the best for stomping that nearly finished gen. They're both good as slow down perks go. I don't think anything else is worth it.

Sloppy is only good with something else that can benefit from it, other things like Thana don't do enough, and at that point you're probably better with chase/tracking. Ruin is trash can be easily destroyed or countered. Surveillance is getting nerfed in to the ground and that was the only thing I would even attempt to bring Ruin with. The # of S-tier, must have killer perks is exceedingly small, arguably even less than just second chance perks from survivors, healing and other things not even included.

I’ve fiddled with both, I agree it’s strong but it feels overly slowdown/sweaty/forever ish/ if that makes sense.

    Hiw is surveillance getting nerfed?

I should probably mention using "feet" in a game is extremely, EXTREMELY unreliable. It's normally measured in hammer units. And even then, you sayin 100-200 feet make it sound like they're not even on the damn map at all, and like you knew exactly where they were. It's not easy to see killers from a far distance. Maybe you were fighting against a killer who can go invisible, or just have a terrible internet connection.

That autowreckers match is DEFINITELY issues with latency. If they just stop in place, it's likely because of a hiccup in your internet. Teleporting behind every player? You haven't mentioned how far they were from you. It's likely you were all grouped up, and not in far distances. If they were, then you were going against a Nurse that match.

That Huntress fight wasn't a hacker. It was an issue with Hitboxes. (It's always inconsistent since the hatchets, for some reason, have a large hitbox. It tends to hit people from behind cover, or just hit the cover.)

The game itself is filled, FILLED with errors of some sort. Hitboxes and Latency being the main issue.

The chances of running into a hacker, fortunately, is extremely low. But the chances of someone calling someone 'good' a hacker, or calling someone who had no idea about the issues you were running into a hacker is much more higher than the chances of meeting an actual hacker.

I’ve been accused of hacking for pulling someone out of a locker... no, I just saw you here and then you disappeared. Quick and quiet does not take away my common sense

There are good solos out there too, very rare? yes.

And yeah, I get told a lot of time im in swf, but I'll just move on and ignore them, not worth wasting my time.

That's my fault, and also my other teammates. If we had just done the last gen it would have been possible to make a play or at least get 2 or 3 out.

It’s not even letting people die, I’ve had teammates (most likely OP) that wait five seconds and if no one is running for the save they start trying themselves... I have a full minute before you go to second stage, if I’m 80% of the way into a gen then I still have plenty of time to compete and head to get you if nobody else goes first.

Meanwhile I have teammates willing to leave a gen at 99% to go make a save the INSTANT someone gets hook so the killer pops it, turns around and heads over to “tunnel,” the first person and then chase the savior. Now we have someone slugged, someone being chased and a gen that could have been finished but will now be regressing back to zero.

Yes and what about the balance changes in high mobility killers and/or killers that can end chase in less than 20 seconds ?

Also, what about Mori that can kill a game in 1 minute if the killer is tunneling 1 survivor ?

Bringing this new gen mechanic will help killers like trapper, larry, wraith, pig, myers, demogorgon but it will make all the other killers OP.

I know you are asking yourself "why is the clown not in this list ?!". Because a high skilled killer playing the clown is able to end chase in 20 seconds as you can't loop even once anywhere with the "bottle throwing spam".

I mentioned that in my comment, it would bolster a few killers I don’t know what the workaround is there

Because those matches are much more prevelant at rank 1 than it is for most other people. IE it impacts my experience more than the average player which is why I care about it more than the average player.

"They're 1 out of 100 games, we just are humans and remember the game where we got outplayed, and forget the one where we destroyed the survivors/killers."

I don't agree with that number even remotely.

"Devs are NEVER ever going to balance around 0,1 top tier players, this is a C A S U A L game, they're not going to screw their game, and their playerbase, cause im sure you and me are not even in the 0,1 top tier. Even a top tier player like Scott Jund is against this idea"

I disagree. You're talking about balancing for bad players. Most games don't do this. They balance around the high tiers.

Losing at lower ranks when it's balanced around high ranks means you lost because you simply weren't very good and need to improve. Losing at high ranks when you're balancing around low ranks leaves you losing because the game isn't balanced, not because you played badly. The difference is one outcome is in your control, the other is not. I like a game where the outcome is determined by my skill.

I want to lose because I was outplayed, not because it wasn't a fair match.

I would probably disagree with your guess about how many games you face the top 1% even... much more likely is you’re overestimate your skill and blame every loss on “SWF death Squads.”

I play 100% solo survivor and constantly get told in end game, “yeah SWF with comms is broken,” by the killer when he loses. They refuse to believe they could just (GASP) lose.

Not to mention Scott Jund again, but check out his video saying the same theory, way too many people think every team they go against is a SWF death squad when it facts they’re really rare even at red.
