Still feels really weak to me. The Undetectable needs to be like 30 seconds imo. Currently feels just too short.
If it was 30 it would be a lot better on the “slower killers,” I totally agree wish it was.

I'm not sure if you are talking about the early game collapse. I heard about it form a few friends and totally forgot about it. If that is gonna balance the gen speeds I hope they will add it soon to the game. But I don't think the devs are gonna announce any time soon when they will add the date of when they will add it sadly.
Yeah that, I feel like a lot of people forgot about it already lol. My hope is something like: For the first minute gens progress at 50% speed, for the next two minutes gens profess at 75% and then after that the game proceeds as normal.
Pretty simple change and it gives the less mobile killers 3 minutes to find people before things start popping hard! Of course the counter argument is this makes the mobile killers like Nurse, Billy and Freddy a lot stronger.

I like to use it on my leatherface to get some cheeky insta downs. I'd also recommend using it together with ruin to get the chance of multipile activations. I also tried it with the apex muffler addon on billy but i got hawkins as map and therefore can't really say something about that, but its definitely something i wanna try out again on hopefully a map where i can utilize it.
As Survivor, i saw it once on an oni that got a first hit on me cause he blocked LoS. Otherwise i haven't seen that many people use it.
Overall it still seems to be a perk you wanna use on high mobility killers just to get the most out of its effect.
I was wondering I’d Ruin, Pop or Surge (on M1 killers) would be best to get multiple triggers... you think Ruin?
-
The last thing I wanna try Tinkerer in stealth killers... yes it won’t be meta but I think seeing an uncloaked Wraith walking at you with no terror may be freaky, someone may even think it’s a bug and you’re still cloaked so they may stay on a gen in your face.
Same with a pig not crouching. Just for laughs it may be worth a shot.

And Pop! Although if they are gonna bounce first hook, chances are you wont need it anyways.
Lol true, an early 3 vs 1 is not challenging but I usually just end it fast as a killer rather than turn it into a 30 minute friendly farm game. I’ll usually give last person the hatch even though it means i Depip.
And yes Pop triggers, also survivors who have Kindred see where everyone is and is doing. If a teammate kills themselves on hook but my teammates are doing gens as well then I stick it out and hope we can pull one out. If they’re already hiding then I accept my fate as well on first hook.

I once got a disconnect 4 as plague after the first survivor cleansed seconds after getting infected and then dc'd right after.
That stinks, but it’s a very, VERY small chance that happens. Yes it stinks you get penalized for it but the trade off is not having people DC every game for the most asinine reasons and I think that’s a trade off I’ll make even the times it has screws me over.

Not to mention if you don't want to DC against those spirits or huntresses you could just ######### first hook.
Exactly, I’m not saying first hook suicide is much better than DC but it doesn’t give you a penalty, it buys your team a few second while the killer carries you and it gives the killer hook points and BBQ stack.

While I don't agree with DC'ing in general, a match where your ping seems to be connecting you to the moon is one I'd accept. Who would want to rubber band everywhere the entire match? Myself personally, I ran into the damn Hill glitch and got stuck there for 20 minutes because the killer refused to even acknowledge me and focused on everyone else despite knowing I was there thanks to AFK crows. So everyone who says DC'ing is bad, in these 2 situations, is it still bad? Would someone want this to happen to them and be forced to play a match that way? Because I certainly wouldn't.
Most people agree with a DC for the hill glitch, that’s why the penalty starts at 5 minutes... I’m sorry but these people who claim they experience a dozen game breaking bugs in the space of a day so they’ve been banned for three days, I just don’t buy it.
The more likely explanation is that Joe Blow DCs once against Spirit and once against Iri hatchet huntress and THEN experiences a bug so that DC earns him a half hour timeout so he comes here and makes up stories

Except DCing isn't exclusive to killers. If anything, in all my time playing , survivors DC a whole lot more than killers do. Most killer DC's i see are when all 5 gens are done. Most survivor DC's are when they decide they don't like the map or get downed first. As far as hook suicides go, I'd be happy for killers to have a way to give up too. But we're not talking about suicides here, we're talking about DC's only punishing killers, which they don't. Anyone who dc's gets the penalty.
I play as both sides and I second this, I see survivors against me or my teammates DC literally every game if there’s no penalty. At least that slows it down some.
The worst DC I can think of was someone who I found first in the open as Plague, got broken , then DC’d as soon as I hit them... and here’s the best part... they waited til endgame chat to tell me they DC because I was camping. The FIRST person to go down, BEFORE getting hooked, DCs because I was camping.
-
Ah yes, the good ol “it unfairly happens to me once out 100 games so we should just let everyone DC whenever they want,” I always enjoy these threads...
I know bugs happened I’ve lost 30 minutes to a couple back to back, but the majority of DCs are just babies quitting.

I'll address the so-called "mechanics" individually (and I did forget about kicking generators with Doctor, which is the most recent one), and I'll leave the mechanics that are integral to a killer's power for last, because my point with this claim is that no mechanics available to all killers and survivors have been introduced since The Hag (with Doc's being killer-only but resulting in survivor interaction).
But first, I'll point out why The Hag has the most recent, true "new mechanic".
- Implemented the hex and dull totems; dull totems are present on every map regardless of perks
- survivors have an additional interaction possible in trials with every killer
- Killers who equip hex perks have a new objective to defend (even without hex perks, totems can still be valuable for sound cues and preventing Inner Strengths)
Explanations are below about why candidates for "new mechanics" have been rejected:
STATUS EFFECTS
Undetectable falls under this category. It is The Wraith's stealth idea but put into a status effect form for easy application across all killers. It's nothing new, interactive, or intriguing for the game.
Oblivious falls under this category, and it is not something that is interactive on either side. It's a status effect only applied by killers and serves no other purpose than to attempt to reduce one survivor's gained distance after starting to hear the terror radius (by hiding the terror radius for that one survivor temporarily). It's not that different at all in style from Undetectable. Both of these fail to be new mechanics, with the understanding that new mechanics are being defined as implementations that provide interactivity for both playable sides.
Status effects, as a rule, should not be considered new mechanics due to the way they play into an already existing framework.
EGC
Rather than being a new mechanic, the EGC is simply a timer to prevent excessive match elongation. A simple timer like the EGC doesn't bring new interactivity between killers and survivors or for both sides separately. It limits potential toxicity while shutting down potentially interesting, longer plays by killers and survivors. It's a mere functionality tweak more so than a new mechanic.
BREAKABLE WALLS
They exist to be ignored unless they've been placed so a killer is forced to break them to go around a window. These are pallets that can't be vaulted over and have been thrown down since the start of the match. Survivors aren't given any interaction with the addition, and killers often benefit from ignoring them. Additionally, they are only present on a select few maps (probs will change in future, but it doesn't really matter). Since it does not increase interaction for either side other than what is already present in pallet breaks, it can't be a new mechanic. It is almost classified as a base-game addition (map exclusivity prevents the classification).
PYRAMID HEAD
The Tormented and The Cages are exclusive to Pyramid Head. They cannot be "new mechanics" in the sense used in this post specifically because of that. These two aspects of his power are not available to all killers and do not meaningfully enough give new interactions to survivors (A better example to bring up would be The Pig, who also has the same issue of traps being tied to her power).
DEEP WOUNDS
This status effect (see Status effect section above for comments about status effects) and ensuing mend would almost be a "new mechanic" in the sense defined by this post except for the fact that this status effect is only present when built into a killer's power. While some newer killers utilize the effect, it is not available to all killers (either through perks or otherwise), and the only reason survivors have access to Legion's debuff is because having two bleed out timer in the game (one for BT and presume-ably other survivor perks) and one for The Legion must have seemed too complicated for the devs. As the bleed out timer had already been introduced with Bill (see comments about timers in EGC section above), the Deep Wounds mechanic isn't entirely original or new. Even though it provides a somewhat new interaction for survivors (Mending), it's a functionality tweak on the bleed out timer that only affects certain matches with certain killers some times.
Anything involving a power inherently cannot truly count, and as such, the only two, true new mechanics introduced to the game since launch have been Obsessions and Totems (With Doctor coming in as a solid new mechanic that doesn't completely hit the survivor aspect of the criteria above, so it's an honorary "new mechanic").
Wow, that is quite a lot of mental gymnastics to make things fit your definitions of what’s a new mechanic and what isn’t. You a politician or a lawyer?

I can loop like a God for once in my pathetic DBD life and kill two minutes of the killers precious time and see ZERO gens pop for all my effort. People hiding in lockers and not moving. People hiding in the corner when someone gets hooked. Just a bunch of players who thought this was a Hide & Go Seek game instead of DBD.
I just don't get it...
I'm not RR1 anymore but I'm still a solid PR5, as are my teammates. These people shouldn't be as timid as a brand new YR20 kid in their first match!
Yep, I understand sometimes avoiding the chase altogether is a good idea especially if you aren’t good at looping yet. Or against strong chase killers.
But I’m on a gen with a teammate and then another survivor brings the killer justttttttt close enough to hear the heartbeat and all of a sudden I’m on the gen alone. I see my teammate go hide in the bushes 10 feet away. Either stay on the gen or go away, like far enough away to find a gen you feel safer on.

you do realise the PTB has changed more than just adding one killer, right?
This is a substantial PTB with many changes.
You do realize the way their coding works any changes to the release, killer or otherwise, could cause bugs in other ways. Changing the way the Blight charges could inadvertently impact Bubba or billy for example. Shouldn’t that be tested too?
I love how people complain about the hill bug but are for some reason okay with the devs not testing the most up to date version of the game before releasing it. I assume if the patch hits and your character gets stuck on a hook for half an hour and you are forced to DC to get out of the game you will not mind or complain about the DC penalty?

I’m a killer main. I don’t have a problem with using moris, if the devs didn’t want people using them they wouldn’t still be in the game. I do typically bring a Bloodpoint offering instead, though, since moris mean you get a lower score usually. But if I’m doing a quest that requires people to die I’ll being a mori.
If the exits are open and nobody is on hook I don’t bother chasing people at the exits, I’ll just look for the hatch to close it or pallets to break or use my power for extra points. No sense giving the survivors extra points if I can’t hook them.
I don’t think camping or tunneling are unsportsmanlike but I do think they are usually bad strategy. If you are sitting around a hook doing nothing mid-game the gens will fly. You have to go to the survivors if they aren’t coming to you. Tunneling is a nonsense phrase, it usually boils down to “chasing someone you already downed or injured” which is a silly complaint. If I have the choice between chasing an injured player and a healthy one obviously I’ll try to down the injured one barring certain exceptions like if I think they have Borrowed Time, etc. And if I can down someone I’ve already hooked that’s better than downing someone I haven’t because it makes it more likely to get an earlier kill. Now chasing someone that will take you too long to catch is another story, that’s bad tactics because while they run you around a strong loop the gens are going. You have to know when to give up a target and switch to somewhere else to get a different person off a gen or maybe catch someone out of position. Again, though, that’s mainly strategic decisions, there’s nothing unethical about chasing the same person twice in a row or whatever.
Other than that I never quit a game and I always say gg and maybe something nice (unless the survivors are being jerks in chat). I also never give people a free escape because I know I wouldn’t want a killer to “take it easy” on me as a survivor, nor do I like it when survivors sandbag each other or give me free downs. I’d rather lose to an opponent that tried to win then get pity points.
The tunneling explanation is a good example of what you get from playing both sides. It’s clearly a smart strategy in a lot of cases, I mean arguably the best way to guarantee success is being even a green mori, tunnel someone off hook and then the game into a 3 vs 1 early. If you play survivor at all you’ll realize how unfun and frustrating those games are, again not saying it’s wrong I mean we all play how we want.

When it's only a problem on those maps (and still a problem even with cross play off)? No.
Midwich especially irks me because it was fine before the last patch.
It’s not a problem, it’s just the random nature that some killers perform better on certain maps. Are you saying if you play Myers and get a big open map you quit?
This game has multiple levels of RNG, the people who quit when it doesn’t line up for them, like you, are the reason DC penalties exist.
-
Yeah let me play a mediocre perk to counter IF a killer runs Three hexes and IF haunted ground is the first one broken and IF multiple players are near the killer when it happens.
The more likely scenarios are either The killer sees that someone is cleansing a hex so walks over and it happens to be Haunted so that person goes down and the other three run far enough away or hide to avoid the exposed. Or the killer seees someone doing a gen, walls over and hits that person just as he pops Retribution and knows where he is at.

The problem with being able to concede whenever you want is that it basically gives someone the power to just force the Survivors to be unable to play the game and probably depip. If we're gonna give the option of concession, I really think it should be done in a way similar to how Identity V does it, where you can't do it until a certain amount of time has passed.
Survivor first hook suicide says hello, if 2 people do it ins extremely hard to pip at red ranks
-
Here’s the thing you can be in favor of killers being able to open the door early but if so you also have to be okay with survivors first hook suiciding.
Or you can say killers being able to end the game early is unfair because it robs the survivors of points, but if so you should be against first hook deaths.
I don’t really care which way you choose but if you’re saying it’s okay for one side to quit early then it should be okay for the other.

This might be possible. The way I see it - DBD has minimum requirements. If those are met, the game should run at a decent performance. If not, the Devs need to work on it (e.g. I have quite a good PC and get FPS Drops on Yamaoka when a Gen gets completed from time to time and sometimes on Breakable Walls on Badham). Same goes for Console, as I have written before.
But if a PC does not hit the minimum requirements, there is not really anything the Devs can do. They are called minimum requirements for a reason.
Yep, I wasn’t trying to imply every computer should run DBD, sorry if it came that way. I think if you’re playing to plan any games on the computer, they shouldn’t be shocked that you have to update occasional. Whether it’d getting a new graphics card, processor, or a whole new machine.

This is optimization. But optimization does not mean that Hardware which is old and weak can or should run every game.
I agree, HOWEVER, without getting too far into balance I think the devs have tried to cater to “casual players,” as much as possible. Now casual doesn’t necessarily mean old or slow computer, but often that goes hand in hand. They may lose more players than they expect because of this

It's not ''just upgrade'' it's you have a 7 years old ''LAPTOP'' of all things, what kind of performance do you expect from a already notoriously unoptimized UE4 game? These dev can't barely make this game stable on my PC, forget it when it comes to ultra-low end specs. Your best bet is to upgrade or go console or run the game at 640x480 like i've said.

Console is a different thing. If a game is advertised to run on a Console, it should run on it with good performance. Thats the Devs responsibility.
But PCs can be upgraded. If someone does not want to upgrade or cannot afford it, there will be some point in time where they cannot run the game they used to play. So a PC User should not expect that Devs provide a game which can be run on 7 year old Hardware IMO.
Have you guys played it on PTB? Because I haven’t but I watched Oftofu and Tru both play and when they broke breakable walls you could SEE a clear slowdown. Are you telling me professional streamers need to get a better PC? And that anyone who wants to play the game for fun should invest the same amount as someone who plays for a living?

I never realized how important the after game chat was for me until the day crossplay was activated. I also think that they should implement it on consoles as well.

Yeah, kinda weird.
I guess it all depends on what type of person you are and how you play. If you constantly get toxic chat or insults then it may be time to look in a mirror.
Honestly before cross play I feel like 90% of my endgame chats were people saying GG to each other... of course as killer I don’t camp or tunnel, I try for 3 hooks per survivor and I don’t use busted addons. As survivor I don’t click at or teabag the killer.

Lol, I've been learning how to play huntress and nurse so I've basically been doing exactly that. I'm a sniper main in every game so I've been doing pretty good as huntress--and I think it really is because console survivors don't expect me to be able to hatchet snipe them across the map.
Good luck! And if you ever need a quick KYF just to practice a new killer ability or something hit me up.

“I think everyone would like that,” You think very, very wrong.

NO!
He’s just asking for the option, you guys do realize you can... TURN... CHAT... OFF... even on PC if you get sick of the kiddy chat.

Dont want to be that guy, but your Laptop is 7 years old. At some point in time, Hardware which is that old will not be able to run every game it used to.
To put a different view, World of Warcraft is now 16??? Years old and still runs on my 20 year old Pc if needed.
