The disappointment is justified. Undying allowed ruin to stay longer than 20-30 seconds which also balanced the generator speeds. Shortly after release it's nerfed. Meanwhile it took bhvr a year to give trapper few QoL buffs and a miniscule change to Wraith that doesn't fix his issues. The clown buff is such a small buff and the tonic is not used for getting around the map, it's used as a budget agitation or bloodlust.

You can see how severe the changes are on undying compared to the small buffs on really weak killers in the next patch.

Undying and Ruin still works. It simply prevents Ruin from lasting to totem 5. That’s unnecessary, and is the primary reason they changed ruin to begin with (no free pressure). Giving extended pressure with undying is fine. It also now gives longer life to lullaby, devour hope, etc because you don’t lose stacks when undying is broken.

Life, like this game, is not black or white. It’s not “nerf or buff.” It was changed and rebalanced. That’s all. The sky is not falling.

Back to the OP. Well said. I don’t have anything to add or say beyond I second your sentiments fully

  • @JinSime said:

I somedays run it and it's been quite useful sometimes, but I have to say you need to use in SWF, and maybe with at least 2 friends, because there is no indicator you have it for your teammates.

If they watch carefully, they can notice the timer isn't going down, but... I noticed people don't really even notice that.

As example, yesterday I was camped at second stage by a Legion, it would be useful to get some gens done, but my teammates didn't do the gens and stood all nearby and farmed me.

So it's not really worth it. I'd suggest they add a indicator to every other survivor, so that you know how to take advantage of it, if viable. But I like it. I wish it worked on the first phase too, to punish even more camping.

What an easy change the devs could make too (notify team who’s running camaraderie, punish campers). Easy way to put an end to unnecessary camping while requiring a perk slot. Seems fair enough

  • @RayrafLPP said:

Its theoretically a really good perk for a low rank SWF.

Often you get facecamped first hook until you die so a swf could just focus on gens longer and make sure the killer only gets one kill.

As before said its used in tournaments as well because tunneling and camping are sometimes the best strats for a killer, yes even in tournaments.

But the average playerbase does not benefit from it and heres why.

    1. You need people to activate it propperly. Chances are low randoms will see that you have the perk and play accordingly, so you need a kinda coordinated SWF to make it work propperly.
    2. Killers facecamp less in red ranks, sure theres some camping here and there, but everybody runs BT either way and you can just unhook with bt and then trade 2 DS.
    3. The perk is locked behind steve, who need to be paied for.

So its a perk that could help new players, but its locked behind a paywall. Like zanshin and kates perk that lets you see vaults its just placed wrong.

If it was a perk you could get on everyone from the start of the game it would be better.

But right now its just too nieche.

Hope i could help a bit

Tunneling and camping are not the best strats, ever. Killers tunneled and camped in hexy’s tournament because they basically gave up and were trying to secure a few points. Watching someone play killer to hard camp someone for 60 sec, to force struggle, while 3 gens pop and 2 more are being worked on was...not enticing tournament play. I probably saw 2 or 3 killers that actually knew how to play killer at tournament level (and no, you don’t need to play like in 99% of your regular games)

"I'm not sure if it is intended or another bug but some times the nurse doesn't get stunned by pallets, I noticed this far more often if it occurs during her fatigue animation, but it also happens frequently enough while picking up a survivor (I know this also happens on other killers but it's much more common on the Nurse from my experience)."

Thats a Bug, it also happens with other Killers, got not stunned as Wraith and did not stun a Billy.

The thing about Nurse-Bugs is that they will most likely be linked to Dedicated Servers. Because when Nurse got reworked, Dedicated Servers went live as well. And if it is a Dedicated Servers-Issue, it will take a while. I mean, they just said a few months ago that Dead Hard is gonna be reworked from scratch to work in Dedicated Servers. And this is only one single Perk, I cannot imagine how much more time it would take to fix the Bugs on Nurse.

Maybe if they weren’t using cheap ass Amazon cloud based servers it’d be fine.

True but pixel perfect auto corrected blinks are. I have video footage of a nurse that that blinked perfectly around obstacles and right too people not to mention the blink speed. however I'm not sure I can do anything with it because it's not obvious enough for the devs to do anything.

Yeah Puppers has a vid up of a hacking nurse vs speed hacker, that highlights a lot of what you’re describing. Blinking right on people with no possibility of knowing someone was there, repeatedly

  • Elodie was the only good that came out of this chapter. I’m surprised the Twins aren’t played more tbh. They’re how every killer plays anyways. Hit, slug, camp, tunnel.

  • @Yamaoka said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1908839#Comment_1908839

What you described is a hacker using everything in the book at once without trying to hide it.

A wallhacker (for instance) will go down like any other survivor if they mess up at looping. Does that mean they're not a hacker just because they decided not to fly around insta-completing gens while spamming all animations in the game ?

“Wallhacks” is a term applied to Myers/Wraith/Pig...using...wallhack add ons.

i wasn’t saying “if someone is hacking then they all are doing this,” but merely describing what hacking can look like. Not getting a grab is hardly hacking, it’s ######### servers

  • @Nessyhere said:

It's pretty wild probably going to go back to no crossplay so I don't have to deal with it tbh. Sick of not being able to pick up, hook certain survivors or being booted when I start lock in a win. The teleported are not as bad but still there. It's super obvious when I'm chasing a survivor, they run in a straight line then disappear and reappear in a locker behind me.

You’ve described dedicated server issues, not hacking.

Hacking is the very hilarious Steve I had in a game that could Instaheal everyone, hook himself an endless amount of times, fly, kick the baby repeatedly (not playing twins), do the Steve scream repeatedly (LOL), freeze the game after EGC ends (floats away and escapes eventually), instacomplete gens, etc. THAT is hacking

And, honestly, it’s ######### hilarious. I can’t even get mad if I see this as killer or survivor.

  • 1) Use good dedicated servers (not Amazon cloud servers meant for mobile games)

    2) Remove Iri Head; Huntress hitbox = Slinger hitbox

    3) Turn Kindred effect on if killer stays within 32m of a hooked survivor for longer than 10 seconds or enters and leaves 32m area repeatedly

    4) Remove addons for nurse and spirit

got some survivor changes too, but those would be first

I don't get how they are unable to AT LEAST fix the major FPS drops (e.g getting bloodlust 1,getting hit by noed/sloppy/freddy etc.) after all this time. It's just really pathetic at this point.

I just wish they would finally tell us what's going on with optimization.

Seems like we need another famous twitter guy to finally get an answer :(

Because they won’t make any more money doing it. Look at the Switch port; it’s literally just “here, try running this poorly optimized game with your hardware.” It is embarrassing how awful the Switch version looks. But, I wonder how much money they earned with that release.

  • Same issue here. Lag has been really bad. During the day its hit or miss, but in the evening hours it’s awful. Got booted at the end of a game and lost out on 50k and was awarded with another ban (I hadn’t DC’ed by choice)

  • @ChurchofPig said:

They don't nerf the survivor perks because BHVR is mostly survivor mains. Hex: Huntress Lullaby was nerfed over survivor entitlement that the devs had.

Is that why lullaby is getting a buff with undying essentially?

We all have been tunneled and camped, but the question that I started thinking about is what is the psychology behind camping and tunneling and why does it feel so negative? Or if you do it why does it feel positive and rewarding at times? What are you guys theories?

The psychology behind it varies. Common things among he player base (inferred from post game chat, stream chats, forum posts, etc):

    1) an unconscious feeling/fear of inferiority and being powerless. Taking “control” and forcing others to be weary of your “power” temporarily fend of these unconscious feelings

    2) an unconscious (or conscious) desire to cause pain, anger, unpleasantness

    3) for streamers, an unconscious fear of being unlovable, possibly coupled with #1, so you behave in a manner that your audience will enjoy

Those are three off the top of my head

PS: “it’s just because they want to win” is not a psychological answer, at least on a meaningful level. That doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface.

I play console. PS5. I have no latency issues as I am 1G wired. However In cross plat you can tell a PC killer pretty well. Huntress never misses for example. Killers are barely if at all effected by even aggressive wiggling. Obvious UI and mods as well as possible cheats being used. I get that cross plat is designed to shorten the queue but yeaaah. Big difference in skill between a 1 killer on console and PC being the console killer especially cross plat certainly is more skilled. For the salty PC killer mains, truth, it hurts sometimes.

😂 Stop. You lost me at....”Aggressive wiggling.” Then you complain about “mods“ and “possible cheats.” Stop it.

It is easier to play huntress/nurse/slinger on PC. So, you will find more players that can play those killers well. It doesn’t mean that PC is better than console. It doesn’t mean that console is better than PC. It takes a little more practice on console (blinking, for example, requires being much more precise on a controller). But that doesn’t really equate to skill.

ive played against very good console and PC killers. Whoever started this console PC thing is just dumb. The ONLY time this applies is on Switch (always, try playing on 15-22 fps, wear tapping for your movement like an old arcade game is how you move effectively) and last gen base consoles, at certain moments.

None of that has to do with skill. The devs branched out to consoles, with no idea on how to optimize a game for console. The Switch release was a pure money grab. A lot of their moves are related to that btw.

The only perk combo that's considered strong I go up against is ds unbreakable and they only have it for 60 seconds after the unhook so it's easily avoidable. Other than that there aren't any. When I play If I use gen perks I go for pop and corrupt much more reliable anyway. We all coped before undying came along and we will again.

Also, ruin/undying isn’t dead. There’s a 50/50 shot they hit undying first now anyways. Banking on a perk combo to carry ruin/undying to the last 4/5 totems is admitting one’s lack of skill. That’s okay, 100%. But recognize that peeps, instead of externalizing onto a perk combo, the devs, etc.

  • @TheeclumsyNinja said:

I get that at low ranks its strong, but ranks 1-3 its simply a way to help you get some trackion.

I as a killer do not wanna sweat 2/3 matches against good swf with all their op perks completely untouched for years when the killer finally gets something to help early game at red ranks and its nerfed within 3 months.

The devs say they want something to help with early game... well you had it but all the bad survivors complained so you nerfed it into the ground immediately.

If they complain about something as simple as doing totems what the hekk are you ever gonna be able to do to help early game lol

Devs need to get a back bone, stop babying bad survivors and force them to learn how to loop in a chase.

  • @Orionbash said:

Survivor perks are fine as is. Where survivors have been nerfed way harder than killer is in the form of the maps. Dead zones galore, useless pallets, and breakable walls have basically made it so killers are spoonfed their 4ks. Killers refuse to learn to get better and it's killing the game.

People will scoff at your comment, and the ones that do are inexperienced players. Whether you play killer or survivor, you should understand how maps affects both sides. You didn’t outplay a killer because you got a map with 20 safe to very safe pallets. You didn’t outplay survivors because 4 gens spawned in 1/3 of the map and you just hunker down in the area. But, if the game hasn’t slowed down for you by now, you will have no idea what is being discussed

  • @landromat said:

If window spawns in the middle, between two buses, this loop is just unmindgamable semi-infinite. Why didn't they change it? There is no even breakable walls here

Also seems like next reworked maps are not solving strong loops problem at all. Asylum can still spawn strong loop, (they actually made one of the windows even stronger) As well as Chapel's 3 window spawn

A strong loop does not equal an infinite loop. I really wish people would using terms that don't exist in DBD 2021. Go youtube what an old school infinite looked like (a true infinite, being no way to catch a survivor, ever). If you don't know what loops you can't mind game, or can't win, or are strong, and you choose to waste time in that area, it's on you to improve.

We already have updated maps that spawn 4 gens in a quarter of the map, 3 gens dispersed elsewhere, huge dead zones, etc. But a safe loop, god forbid, gotta get rid of those too.

I agree with your first 2 points but if a killer is in the game then they have the right to play them. I honestly hate going against spirit more than any other killer for obvious reasons but I don't think bad about the person playing them because they are in the game so why shouldn't they play whatever killer they want to play as.

I agree with this. I think if you’re going to play like a toddler and nod incessantly, taunt people, hard proxy camp, hard tunnel people....then you can go f yourself lol (until the next game, by which point I’ve already forgotten about you). But that has nothing to do with what killer you picked.

I’m always amazed at the killer who proxy camps to force people into struggle, nods at every opportunity, hard tunnels, slugs, etc, all in one game...and then one person tbags them and they ######### LOSE IT in postgame chat. It’s kind of funny, but, also 100% what’s wrong with a good portion who are unfortunately members of society

I rather find it polite if I have a rough game yet they’re still good enough sports to give me a few freebies for points. Granted I don’t remember the last time I intentionally killed someone playing killer, but yeah. (I only 2 hook folks; 1 if somehow they got to struggle).

So my favourite show of all time is Buffy the Vampire Slayer and after Ash being added as a survivor, it got me thinking about how Buffy would be an awesome addition. Other than her strength, Buffy is mainly seen as somebody who protects the innocent, so I tried to make that reflect in my perk ideas.

Let me know what you think of 'em.

    Beacon:

Dabbling in the Dark Arts has taught you a thing or two.

When repairing a generator 1/2/3 Survivor(s) see your aura.

“Strong is fighting! It's hard, and it's painful, and it's every day. It's what we have to do. And we can do it together." ― Buffy Summers

    Minder:

It’s your sacred duty to keep everybody else safe.

Each time you unhook a survivor they leave no scratch marks for 4/6/8 seconds.

“I’m the thing that monsters have nightmares about. And right now, you and me are gonna show ‘em why.” - Buffy Summers

    Disruption:

There’s strength in numbers. It’s time for you to share your gift.

Whenever your aura is exposed to the killer, any survivor(s) within 4/6/8 meters of you will not be shown.

"There is only one thing on this earth more powerful than evil, and that's us." - Buffy Summers

So, your ideas = stranger things perks 😂

MMR is not going to fix matchmaking. Unless you’re talking about potentially fixing “skill” you’re matched against, based on what the devs secretly to equate skill to.

I agree. MMR isn’t going to fix anything. Also a “secret MMR” is horse #########. Queue times will always be an issue. I wonder if these queue spikes occur around any periods of player exodus. PTB probably syphons players off main game too

It's not a 1v1v1v1v1 because you aren't against your teammates as survivors. If you look at it like this for balance the game will never be balanced that way.

We are also assuming they are all on gens if they aren't in chase because we are assuming "good" survivors vs a "good" Spirit. We'd never have a balanced game if we're gonna balance around bad players. Good survivors aren't wasting time.

The Spirit is chasing you across the field towards a jungle gym. We're going to assume phasing after you because if she's really 110% coming at you across the field then you literally just gave your team near 30 seconds of a gen before the loop standoff has even started. That's a win for you if she does that.

As she phases after you, you fast vault the window and then slow vault back over. Now all she has is tracks to the window and a loud noise notification at the window to go by. She is now completely guessing a 50/50 of whether you committed or faked it. Most Spirits will assume you committed and go straight around as most people don't know how to play against Spirit, won't fake it, and instead come to these forums complaining. Now you're on opposite sides of the wall with her power on cooldown. She should never be getting a hit on you at a loop running 110% with her power on cooldown. Even if we assume her power comes back up and she gets her hit on the next phase that entire fiasco has cost her almost an entire gen for one hit. I'd even argue you have a decent chance of mind gaming her for another phase until you're injured as while you're still healthy she can barely hear you and the mind games are significantly easier.

Multiply that 4 or so more times and ya'll have won the match. Time is on ya'lls side, not hers.

Completely negated by...stridor. If they have IW, they may get away with that, once. Not to mention, if they’re on a tile like shack where two different floors connect (wooden floor to grass, at the pallet/window), good luck

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1879439#Comment_1879439

    Spirit would be trash then.

If you took away Stridor during phasing you are forcing her to completely guess the survivors location. Like literally...guessing...I don't mean figuratively. Good survivors aren't dumb running in a nice little scratch mark line for you to follow. 90% of her reads are by sound and you're saying to remove that. She would then have zero information to use in locating the survivor in a chase other than guessing.

Spirit is currently outplayable even with good headphones. The problem is you're trying to outplay her wrong. Yeah, she can hear you, that's why you take advantage of that and manipulate what she's hearing to give her the wrong read.

She would have less information. You don’t need to run stridor as spirit (it’s more an intro to spirit kinda perk). And not every survivor runs iron will. So, no, it wouldn’t be “completely nerfing her” - that’s a bit alarmist. If you listen, you can hear survivors footsteps, you see which way the grass is moving, etc. It’s not a hard nerf by any extent. It requires a little more brainpower. Not like you can’t make plays vs stridor even at 150%...

I was the only one that died which was annoying heck on my 2nd hook one of the claudettes was near me and there was a door. They put all this time into rebalancing maps a 12-24 months ago, only to graphically update them and ######### them up (my favorite is when 4 survivors spawn in a massive dead zone vs. an instadown killer who’s 40m away.

Servers really really make this game unfun. How do you play a game that depends on precision when (a) one side gets the advantage (b) nothing meaningful (that actually works) is done about it

Killer is boring. Play spirit, nurse or Freddy and it’s nearly always a gg. And/or tunnel, slug, proxy, etc.

    I dunno,

  • Freddy is probably the least add on dependent.

honestly, I don’t know why killers are given add ons based on some nonsensical idea that everyone should have “2 red, X purple, Y green, Z yellow and S brown”

Addons should be given to killers as a way to buff them, imo. Every single spirit add on is useful for some reason. Every nurse runs the same two add ons. Nobody seriously uses Billy’s -5% movement speed for increased chainsaw rev speed. Whatever I guess

  • Pennywise? I mean the real killer of the novel is the author itself. Hopefully all the kids aren’t put in the game and the only way to escape is for their to be a gang bang on the girl (oh did the movies not cover what’s in the book? Darn, bet audiences would have really taken to that warped pedo #########)

  • Try not giving af. I try not to blame my teammates for how a match goes. It’s too easy to blame while assuming “I’m better than everyone...well at least do a gen...etc”. Some people are learning, some people are trying new things, sometimes you get dead-icated servers, sometimes you spawn in a dead zone with all survivors and a huntress <40 meters away (real fun), etc.

MM is an issue always in dbd. I can’t remember it not being in dbd. If you’re getting games matched with brown ranks, you gotta take charge and get in chase, and run bt, and do gens, etc. Try and have fun though, outcome doesn’t really matter

I think this perk has been discussed quite a bit, But here’s a common denominator with killers, most use it. Might as well assume. Forces survivors to use Kindred which only slightly offsets as at least it can giveaway the perk may be used. When you play watch how many killers use it. I will attest it’s most. Needs to be tweaked. There’s your sign, force killers to use some degree of skill and cunning. Not hook and then hone in on the next kill, hook, wash repeat...

I run BBQ if I play killer just for the extra bp while I P3 my survivors (nothing else to put bp into). I actually find it’s a hindrance for most killers (outside of spirit, oni, billy). Once you play this game enough, you kinda know where people are and what they’re doing based on spawns and time.
