That's...not how I wanted that post to end. :< I'm so sorry for your loss but I'm so glad you found something meaningful through gaming. I wish you all the best going forward.
-
Then you've got the issue where you're not even in range for his grab but he still gets you.
-
I've noticed this too. There's times where Im in the killer's terror radius for a long while and never get teleported away.

You can't make people play killers they don't want to play.
Youre right. Thats why rotation would have killers picking based on whats available.

but then killers will complain that they cant keep up with the game and just insta lose bc oh would you look at that the better ones are locked…
But how much of that is a killer issue vs the person playing killers skill level? Its 2 v 8. You have a partner. So many times I see killers seperate when they should be together and together when they should seperate. 2v8 is simply a game of efficiency and the team thats the most efficient will always win.

Can I have your lobbies? Id take that, even if I know it would be rough.

If bhvr doesnt buff the weaker ones so that they can actually keep up with the 2v8 pace then you might see more of them but currently 3 killers are not worth the queue times these being
trapper
ghostface
deathslinger
why? simple they waste too much time for too little rewardOr they could just rotate the killers. Its fine if its just one iteration of 2v8 that has a lot of Wesker, especially if killers are on a rotation. But this is going to happen in every version of 2v8 from now on and its kind of boring.

The bots are horrendous.Just to add an experience from one of my games: Nancy Bot didn't do a single gen all game and when I unhooked her and attempted to heal her, she ran for the yellow herb taking it from a real player. Adding bots into the game was a waste of resources when you guys could have been adding stuff that we actually asked for like new survivor roles. Instead we got...bots that make it easier for killers to win. Bots should only be there so the game isnt a loss if someone dc's. Not as a permanent game measure.
Might as well just make it 2v6 because the bots don't contribute anything meaningful.

This, I'll just hop back on only for 2v8s basically. Since the people in 1v4 are complaining about queue times when the survivor bonus was only like 50% at most 90% of the time, I am assuming the vast majority of players seemed to prefer it.
It fixes basically all the complaints both sides normally throw out there. Wouldn't surprise me if they made 2v8 the default mode and 1v4 the competitive ranked mode.
I would love that. 2v8, for me, is reminiscent of the older days of DBD…back when I first started playing. But in 2v8 I dont have to worry about killers with a million powers, overbloat of perks, lack of pallets, etc… Its put the fun back in DBD for me. And yea, based on what I saw…2v8 is definitely the more popular game mode. Im just not sure why it hasnt been implemented as permanent yet.
-
Im surprised that people even want to play 1v4, to be honest.
-
2v8 is the only reason I play DbD anymore. I hope it sticks around and becomes a permanent game mode.
-
Killers nowadays also have a million powers. Look at Vecna and Dracula. Survivors need those perks in order to compete with that.
-
@Brimp said:
That would also mean survivor would get a free escape for simply the kill not deciding to play efficient though?
Thats how the game works, yea. If survivors arent being efficient thats how the killer gets a free 4k.
-
Saame. On the verge of quitting entirely until 2v8 comes back. Killers are overperforming and BHVRs response is to buff killers and nerf survivors even more. Its strange.

That doesn't mean we shouldn't address it, I had it happen to me 3 games in a row
Base kit kindred would be crazy, though. Someone is always caged. Perhaps take away the Scouts ability to see the killer when they break pallets and add kindred or something. But to give it to everyone would be mad.

You keep saying 2v8 has issues, what are they? I only know 2
- Killers slugging survivors when caging them only takes a second (basekit unbreakable from the start would solve this
- 7 survivors letting you hit struggle for no reason (bystander effect, basekit kindred would solve this)
I agree with point 1, but I only had 2 happen in like 2 games out of the 50 or so that I played.

The Killer Meta was Huntress and Wraith, or Nurse.
The Survivor Meta was a combo of at least 6 people running Guide or Escapist, and maybe a Scout or Medic… because Guide and Escapist were the only two truly viable classes in a mode when two Killers are M1 only, one is heavily nerfed, and one needs to reload.Scout was pretty meta in my games. Thats what I played after the first few days and unless it was wraith, I just stayed behind them granting my entire team nearly 100% aura reading the entire game. Gens fly when people have information. In fact, most games I had towards the end you rarely saw guides. Id actually be curious to see the official stats on classes picked during 2v8.
Which killer was heavily nerfed? Billy? I had a couple of games with Wraith/Billy and we got slaughtered because Billy was buffing Wraith with Instadown. Cages were popping and there wasnt much we can do about it due to them being mobility killers. But they were also incredibly skilled. -
@VantablackPharaoh91 said:
There was already a meta midway through week three.
The mode has issues and should not come back until ALL of them are fixed. The queues cannot handle it.
I see a lot of people saying this, but what are the issues exactly? Nobody is really explaining anything beyond Medic needing a buff.

With the introduction of 2v8 people, survivors especially, realized the issues with the base game. Issues like killer skill no longer mattering in most base games with the bloat of tons of unhealthy perks into the game, insane new killer abilities, and just how problematic tunneling/proxy camping really is. And on the killer side, its evident that adding another killer into the game made it fun for the killers as it took a lot of the burden/stress of being alone in every single match. BHVR has a LOT of work to do and really should consider a major health patch for the base game with major nerfs to killer, a few tweaks to survivor, and rebalancing maps.
For most players, 2v8 was a return to when DBD was FUN. Its no longer that for most players as evident by the number of people wanting 2v8 back. Ive tried my hardest to stick with DBD through everything and Im finding it very, very difficult to return to the base game after getting to experience 2v8. And the fact that the base game queues were painful while 2v8 was around should be an indicator to BHVR that 2v8 is the future of the game and what people really want. -

Ive actually set my expectations much, much lower than that.. and I still cant wait for 2v8 to come back.

Franklin attunement is unironically and should be so weak. Survivors control the power of the perk combo and if you simply just… place the items in the corner of a map that killer no longer has access to half their build.
The game shouldnt be designed to leave the items you earn in a corner of the map every game because killers need constant aura reading. lol Thats bad game design.

nerfing SWF won't achieve anything.
solo q just needs functional voice chat or a gameplay where there is a functional voice chat and the game should then be balanced / designed around the assumption solo q / swfs are the same.
The verbal abuse that I witnessed from other players in TCM is why I would never, ever want DBD to have it. Its clear that unless the people in your match are your friends, they cant handle themselves. No thanks. Just pre-fab messages we can send out would be better.
-
Killers have their struggles, but the primary one nobody wants to address is skill. Skilled killers always have, and always will be, successful. BHVR making nerfs to survivor because of a lack of skill from killers was the issue. At first it was adding perks like Lethal Pursuer and Pain Res to give killers huge objective rewards for very little effort (Pain Res) or none at all (Lethal pursuer). Slowly after that it was bloating the game with killers with insane powers to make even the worst of killer players feel like they're top tier. At least Nurse and Blight require some skill to be even remotely decent.
Looking at killers like Vecna and Dracula, they have so many abilities with so little punishment for bad plays. And in the case of Dracula, is basically 3 different killers in one with zero drawbacks. Pyramid Head, Sadako/Freddy (teleporting), and Wesker. Why is this necessary? And every killer is anti-loop nowadays, but the devs dont want to remove or severely nerf other abilities or perks to compensate.
Vecna has map traversal, anti-loop, and detection abilities. Vecna can add gen regression and aura perks to make a killer with almost zero flaws.
Every new killer is just remake Freddy over and over again and its so boring. The trial is supposed to be a trial for both the survivors and the killer. Doesnt seem to mean much on the killer side when you're spoonfed wins.
This is why I enjoyed 2v8. It was great to go back to a time in DBD before all of this. When skill and efficiency mattered. In the main game? Its $$$. Just buy the newest killer with its perks and with all the map changes and adjustments that favored killer over the years you're almost guaranteed a 4k every round.
-
Im right there with you. I loved 2v8 so much that I have 0 interest in returning to the base game. It was just that much fun for me.
I dont even know why its not going to be a permanent mode. What are they worried about? Profits? People are always gonna buy the new killer if theyre good or interesting, they just need to have a weekly shuffle to keep it fresh and give interesting team options for killers so they remain interested and excited. On the survivor side they just have to make new classes that unlock if you have the relative survivor perks already unlocked.
Just for example: A Stealth class would need...
Urban Evasion, Calm Spirit, Distortion (4th perk is always self-care, so it should just be three required). If you have all of them, then you get access to that class in 2v8. Could do the same for a deception class with Red Herring, Diversion, and Deception.
And as long as the new killer is always available in the 2v8 weekly shuffle on release then that should make the mode profitable.
If its bugs...I dunno. Im not a coder. lol So I cant actually speak to how difficult it would be in an already buggy game.
-
Huntress is fine. Its just the maps that need tweaking. Most maps have tons of insanely low loops that huntress just shoots over. Thompson house has too many high loops, but is the safest map to go against her. Just needs some balancing.
-
Thank you BHVR!! I love 2v8. I
-
Ya I wont be playing the main game anymore once 2v8 leaves. Its way too much fun. 2v8 or nothing.
-
Are the killers a good team? If yes: Killer-sided.
If not, are the survivors doing gens? If yes: Survivor-sided.This game mode is based on efficient teamwork and skill. Whoever does that better is who is gonna come out on top.
-
This is why the Scout class is necessary. Lol. A good scout will keep eyes on the Trapper and let you know where hes been so you know where to loop. The trapper doesnt have time to go and set up all of his traps right at the start of the match. He has time to set a few and then move on to downing survivors and placing them as he goes. Trapper works really well in 2v8 otherwise and I dont think he needs to be removed or nerfed or anything.
-
I have to disagree. Im very open about my feelings towards the main game mode where killers are indeed overpowered and in need of some heavy adjustments which you can see in my previous posts. However, in this mode, killers are balanced. A good killer team will know when to work together and when to split apart and a win is guaranteed if the killers are skillful in their play style. Same goes with survivors. I hope they keep 2v8 around because I dont want to return to the base game after this.

I main Hillbilly and I have used Lethal Pursuer in quite a few matches on him. It takes a bit before you get to a survivor even with it. Chances are, if he really got a down that quick he was already right next to you as you spawned and the other survivor didn't take the chainsaw noise and TR as a warning. Meaning he got lucky with the spawn and a careless survivor. This is not an issue with Lethal Pursuer.
Well I would argue its still an issue with Lethal Pursuer because its possible that the Billy wouldnt have found him. Or me, technically, as I was there too. Its just too much information at a time when information shouldnt be given out without some type of penalty.

Distortion is a plague in this game.
It's bad for both killer and survs.
For killers it's extremely stupid and boring to waste time finding survs that have no chase skills and want to be hiding the entire trial.
For survs it's even worse because these same Distortion users are not learning new skills to become better survs and also keep hiding even when they suppose to get hooks for their teammates that already have 2.I would argue that distortion is bad for survivors unless everyone is using it for 2 reasons:
1) It puts too much pressure on the other three survivors
2) Too many aura perks/add ons in play that eat through stacks faster than you can get them back
Its just not really providing much benefit and we can see that in Distortions use and win rate. -

Umm...OK, well, this is a discussion about Lethal Pursuer. If you want to join the rest of us, you're more than welcome. What this isnt is a discussion about gen slow down. If you wanna discuss that, go ahead in another thread. Also this will be my last response to you because all you seem to want to do now is channel the energy of a 12 year old kid that isnt getting their way.

2 things. First off, for a Hillbilly to get an immediate down, that survivor has to mess up monumentally. That means it's more a skill issue than a perk issue. Second, if it's 2-3 killers that are problematic with a perk maybe it's not the perk that is the actual problem. This could easily be fixed, if the 3 of them started with their powers on a cooldown like some other killers do.
Survivors should have bit of time before first chase start.
Why? The killer already has no early game. Why should survivors be rewarded for that even more? Especially since in most situations you have a pretty good idea where survivors spawn anyway, which means Lethal Pursuer makes little difference in that regard. It is however good when you spawn in the middle of the map and can only guess. Because guessing wrong already puts you behind so much, that it's an uphill battle right from the start. All caused by RNG (the killer's spawn is dependent on RNG and the survivor spawns depend on it).
This is so wrong. Im sorry, but youre wrong. I was playing literally a couple of hours ago. We spawned in on clowns map. I literally took three-four steps (I run sprint burst, so I wasnt running) and the killer (Billy) downed the survivor that I spawned right next to. We were in the match for no more than just a few seconds. That survivor was supposed to do…what exactly? The second they spawn into the match run for cover against a killer they have 0 information or location on? Please enlighten me.

Well, you said you ignore perks.
So let's ignore Lethal pursuer too...
You don't get to select only what is handy for you. Lethal pursuer is not handout. Only thing it does is get you into chase faster. It won't help you end the chase faster, if you have issue with that, then work on your chase...
No, I said that I ignore the perks because theyre not relevent to me. Im OK with gen slowdown. I never said ignore perks in general. Im not OK with killers being given a handout at the start of the match and being given a huge advantage over survivors while killers are already overperforming. So your statement literally doesn't matter, does it?
Gens in past used to be 80 seconds, and are 90 seconds now.
But you would like to ignore the perks, because it doesn't fit your narrative?
Reality is gens are same or faster.
No, I ignore the perks because gen slowdown via perks doesnt matter to me. But gens do take longer now at base rate. But my issue isnt with that. Im just saying that LP shouldnt be fine in its current state when everything else has been nerfed to make it easier for killers to win. How many handouts do killers need?

I fail to see the issue. WoO is a perk that completely automates survivor gameplay. That is incredibly dull. You literally play by a manual.
Also, I can't voice my disagreement with one perk? Interesting. I would like the game's results to depend on who actually played better and not who brought perks that automated their gameplay to the point where they basically couldn't lose. Losing against loadouts rather than players is not a great feeling. This is also why I'm fine with most info perks. They don't do anything for the killer or survivor. They help them do things. WoO is an exception because it's not about how you use that information.
Either way, that last sentence is a pretty poor point. I am fine with most perks in this game and I certainly would like to see quite a few perks be buffed or reworked on both sides. That does not mean, that I will complain about pretty much every perk somebody uses against me. I won't rejoice (which should never be the case, as perks are meant to make the game harder for your opponent) but I can live with them.
If you couldn't tell, the part about people that complained about every category of perks was not about you specifically. I explained this because someone else, who seems to have vanished from the forums, brought it up.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3735638#Comment_3735638
Ruin, Undying and Eruption fell out of the meta a long time ago. If we were to talk about the all time most popular slowdown perks, then that would probably be Ruin + Undying (I consider both to be slowdown because Undying is just a decoy for Ruin) and Pop. But I was talking about the ones that were meta at the time. Even then, Pop was nerfed and Ruin got obliterated almost 2 years ago.
You literally called out people for complaining about perks, yet you did it yourself. And everything you said about WoO can be applied to Lethal Pursuer. And now suddenly you care about skill rather than perks? Theres an easy fix for that…play perkless.

I don’t use aura to guarantee win games, I use them for fun. If I wanted to win I would use 4 slowdowns. It’s honestly ridiculous. If they gut aura reading every single Huntress will switch to 4 slowdowns because what other options does she have?
116 killer perks in the game, 21 Basic Attack perks, 8 Undetectable perks, 6 Perks that rely on terror radius size, 15 Hex related perks. 48 perks that are bad to use on Huntress. That’s not including the 11 haste perks that make her 115% for like 10 seconds. Almost half the perks in this game are below average on her.
Her top 5 most used builds are all full aura reading builds, and guess what’s after that? Gen slowdown. Pain Rez, Pop, Corrupt Intervention and NoEd in that order.
Do you see me arguing against gen slowdown? All Ive said in regards to that is an observation that gen rates are the slowest they ever have been (And I meant at base, not with perks). I dont care about gen slow down. Its been in the game since Ive started and Ive learned to adapt. Aura reading is fine in other circumstances, but it shouldnt be provided to the killer at the start of the match without any consequences.

I stand my what i said, if you refuse to run perks because you dont want to "waste a perk slot on it"
- then you choose to run the risk that the killer sees you with aura reading perks.. eod.
Its moreso that my other perk slots are dedicated to perks that I have no choice but to run because despite killers overperforming, they still like to tunnel. Distortion isnt going to help much with that.

Starting chases early is not fun for you but that isn’t true for others. Again, if a Killer gets a down before one or two gens are completed or it’s a skill issue on the Survivors part and not a problem with Lethal Pursuer. Survivors have plenty of opportunity to spread out and get on gens. Killer can only be chasing one person at a time and everyone is notified when someone is being chased. It’s not the perks fault if Survivors choose to take their time to even start working on gens or if the first Survivor is bad. That’s a problem with matchmaking.
And yes, Distortion provides plenty of benefit, especially to people who can’t loop. It wouldn’t be so popular if it didn’t.
Ive never really liked the, "Just because its not fun for you doesnt mean…" kinda arguments. Well, it just so happens that seeing my teammates getting downed a few seconds into the match isnt fun for me. Everyones fun is subjective. I dont get your point here and why that first part is even relevant to the discussion.
I never said that survivors have to pop one or two gens before the first down. I said that its unfair when the killer has the first down before survivors have had an opportunity to start gens which is an issue that Lethal Pursuer creates when used on high mobility killers.
I would love to agree with you on distortion but since everyone wants to discuss stats, Ill just refer you to the same stats everyone else wants to talk about.
https://nightlight.gg/perks/Distortion
Distortion isnt providing any benefit when its win rates are steadily declining.
