They should just add voice chat, or a command wheel like the battlefield games have. That would really be enough to "bridged" the gap between SWF and solo players. Instead of them trying to do all this extra stuff for survivors. Regardless all they will do is make stuff easier for SWF coordinated players. And they should remove their MMR system for anyone with over 200 hours. That way only truly new players will never play vs experienced players, and allow them to get better at the game. And they should stop focusing on trying to balance every single thing, like focus on making the game FUN. Ain't no one playing video games to have a "fair" experience, what keeps people playing is having FUN! Everyone here always wants something nerfed. It was the same thing since I stopped playing the 1v4 3 years ago. This game is not going to ever be fully 100% balanced. The 4 will always have the upper hand, people just need to accept that fact.

I am in the same boat with 1v4. I really do not like putting my heart into a match only for someone to give-up when my team clearly has the advantage. I’ve started using Shoulder the Burden unstrategically on the first hook of the match to communicate with people “I am taking this match seriously. Please play with me.” but I also feel I shouldn’t have to do that just to get cooperation in a cooperative game. When other players see the effort I invest right away, I’ve had less games where people DC or throw the game when it goes sideways. But why does that have to start from my sacrifice?
Here lately I’ve been seeing a lot of balance discussions concerning DBD and it makes me want to take OTC headache medicine. The day has finally come where I have developed boundaries with this game. I thought I was a very dedicated player, but I’m not dedicated enough to argue balance on items and add-ons I never really used in my 5000+ hours, or will use in the future. I always play to have fun, and to make sure that other players have fun too. I want to clarify there is nothing wrong with being passionate about balance, but I’ve experienced a mental shift where I just don’t need that in my life. The people who know better/care can argue on my behalf, for me.
It would be cool if I could bet bloodpoints on the match somehow, so other players can see how invested I am to play and have fun.
I kind of think this is a part of the issue for some players, some people wanna balance everything. I think this game by it's nature cannot be fully 100% balanced, so if they try to balance it as close as they can. It simply won't be fun for a lot of players. I think they should just keep focusing on making the game fun, and try avoiding this super serious competitive route that they seem to wanna take. But at the end of the day they are driving the train, we are just passengers. All we can do is wait and see what their vision is.

I can't believe he came out nearly 4 years ago. But yeah if I remember correctly people was saying at the time that this was a rushed deal between these two companies, so it's not surprising.
-
Same as it's been for nearly 3 years at his point. I'll pass on playing the 1v4. I will however come back for the 2v8 events, that's the only time I play this game at this point. I personally prefer a game being fun, not playing vs the sweatiest players in this game every single match. And I played the 1v4 for years that I got bored of only playing that mode. But they been trying new modes so thats good.
-
I've only seen it happened once. And it was caused by me, playing as trapper. So basically on the raccoon city map I've always used this strategy of locking down a side of the map. I put my traps on all the chokepoints on the left side of the map, to block the survivors from entering that side. So it was me and a random spirit, and I put my traps to block the left side and the spirt downed 6 survivors, and the cages all spawned on the left side of the map. The other two couldn't rescue them and they got downed. They got 0 gens done, that was the only 8k at 8 gens I ever seen on this mode. But mind you this was luck, and probably bad survivors, since they all spawned on the right side. I used to use this strategy back then before the map got split it. I would try to three gen them on a side of the map and block it by using traps. But naturally I doubt survivors won't get at least 1 gen done in this mode. This was just pure luck for me.

Is anyone actually willing to wait 30+ minutes in killer queue?
A lot of people seem to be willing to wait it out since the queue still long. But I have yet to see these 30 minutes wait time, and I played all 3 2v8 iterations.

Hate to break it to you. But most people who play DBD ain't out here on these online streets. Most of the people here are the hardcore DBD fans, which usually lean towards the 1v4 mode. But a lot of the non-average dbd players tend to lean towards the 2v8.

Chaotic. Unhinged. Broken stuff on BOTH sides. Way more down to earth than what it is now. But i guess most fof the player base were still figureing out DBD so that makes sense.
DBD still is fun today though.
Most of the veterans players at that time already had an idea of how to play the game by 2020. It wasn't that new by that point. People knew what was up by that point. It's just that DBD seems to want to take the serious more competitive route nowadays. Thus really ruining the fun for a lot of players, because lets be real when games get more competitive they usually get less fun. Think about call of duty, they got completely competitive to the point where it's ruined now.
-
Yes it was a free for all. You wouldn't know what you where getting into. You could play vs strong survivors or weak survivors. As survivor you could play vs a less experience killer, or a more experience killer. Now when they added the MMR it basically turned every match into a sweat fest. Closes thing you can get into feeling pre-mmr dbd is the 2v8, thats the closes picture you will get into the past. They have the same feel you don't know what you will get into. Although the queues did take long for survivors believe it or not. I remember having to wait like 5 minutes to get into a match when playing survivor at night. I remember complaining about the wait times here, I should still have them in my post history. Overall I enjoyed DBD way more before they added this MMR system.

2v8 is, at its core, the same game as dead by daylight. there are drastic gameplay changes but it is obviously still dead by daylight …. if the addition of 5 more players in your lobby makes you literally want to tear your eyes out of your skull, i have a feeling you don't like 1v4 that much either
The thing is you're right. The 1v4 DBD I enjoyed NO longer exist. This 2v8 dbd is something that I actually like. It feels just like how I felt when I first started playing this game.
-
Yeah the 2 bots did make the survivor role unbearable to play. But with one bot it pretty much feels like a regulars 2v8 match. The killer queues have been the same for me since the 1 iteration, an average wait of 10 minutes. the 1v4 I'm not sure since don't I play that mode. And while I don't doubt some people hate this mode, you also got to consider some of us have become 2v8 mains. While some people stop playing when this mode comes out, you also got consider some of us who don't play this game on a regular basis come back to play this mode exclusively.

It cannot for the reason of queue times be permanent. None of the modes should be. I'd be fine with some people being 2v8 Mains if it didn't literally ruin the queues for everyone who ISN'T.
I know the queue times are unacceptable as they are with the 2v8 on right now. I get it 100%. But sadly it's a part of it. Look back then before MMR was introduced, which turned the game into a sweat feast. Before the MMR queue, it would take like 5 minutes before you could join a match, that was how it back then. But people still played the game, if people dealt with it back then as survivors for years, I'm sure people would deal with it for the meantime. And back then the survivor was the role that would take like 5 to 10 minutes to find a match. I still remember during nighttime how long it would take to find a match, pretty much after 8 PM it would take a while to join a match.

You got one more day before the chill players get forced back to the 1v4.
-
Chill some people are 2v8 mains. Some of us don't want to touch the 1v4 mode. And ironically they might benefit from the 2v8 mode since it's new player friendly. Think about it in this game you need 1000s of hours to get most of the perks unlocked now. With this mode if your new, you just buy and it play it at an even playing field, everyone has the same perks and whatnot. Hopefully they make it permanently with all the maps and all the killers, which it seems the most likely that this game mode will get implemented permanently. They extended which was surprising, so they got to be seeing some numbers that we are not.

Chaos Shuffle was well liked all around, that didn’t mess with queues at all, or nearly at all. You think that 2v8 is popular, but it requires more people. If it isn’t bringing in enough new/returning people, then is it popular? Or is it a novelty that’s splitting up the queues to a damaging degree? Look at the steam charts. If 2v8 were so popular, wouldn’t there be a noticeable bump in player numbers?
You got to consider we don't know the numbers for the console players. Which is the biggest player base. And to be honest I'm surprised they extended it, to which is a shocker to me. Since I assumed they would not based on the steam numbers. But If they extended it I'm going to assume they have their reasons. You also got to consider they probably are aware that some us have become 2v8 mains. That's some people go to mode at this point, some of us will only play the 2v8 but not the 1v4 mode, and vice-versa. So it seems to have become popular to an extent.
-
Wouldn't make a difference since people don't really use Public chats In ANY online game, as people did in the past. It seems that online public headset use is down in most games. People now a days prefer to be on group chats instead of public. Also I played a different asymmetrical game that has public chat, and people rarely use it, and IF they do it's rarely used in a way that would benefit the other players. And people already have access to communication with their friends, so they might as well let the solo players use proximity chat, at least those who wanna use it. Even so the solo players will still be at a disadvantage compared to SWF since it would be by proximity only.

Yea I wouldn't say there are "bad" classes, but healer/guide are very strong compared to the rest.
Maybe to new players. But people really are sleeping on the scout class. That class is by far the strongest class for decent survivors to play as. Rebuilding pallets is a really strong ability that all the killers struggle to play against, with the exception of nurse.
-
Sitting it out till they bring 2v8 back, hopefully as permanent expanded mode. Till then enjoy the same I must escape/get a 4k EVERY single match to have fun mentality that seems to be prevalent in this game. The one game where seemingly a good portion of the player base wants to only have one game mode. Like the same mode for a near decade at this point.
-
From my perspective when I would play this game, some people would give up when they saw the match was a lost cause. It's pretty easy to tell within in the first minute what the outcome would be. So maybe in the bigger picture it kind of can tell what's going on that particular match. Hence the match may have already been heading in a certain direction, which would have been the same outcome 3/4k. Regardless if the survivors did not give up. Think about it as you said why waste time playing a lost match. So maybe not as inflated as it may seem.

No, id rather have everyone play 4v1 for better and faster matchmaking. 2v8 can come back for another 2 weeks though
I get that the queue times got bad, I know they did I saw it. But from MY point it view I rather wait some time to join a match I actually had fun in, rather than get a quick unfun, and or frustrating match. But thats my two cents.
-
They most likely will.
Since in a way this would be the casual mode. Since everyone would have an equal chance. No leveling up to unlock perks. The main game requires to many hours for new players now. This mode could potentially allow actual casual players to not have to spend hundreds of hours unlocking perks.
-
Admittedly I have not played the 1v4 in over 2 years. But from my recollection I found the 2v8 way more fun as compared to what was the 1v4, at the time when I would play it at least. For both roles I personally prefer the 2v8.
-
@sinkra said:
Another incredible factor is that this number is with the extremely limited killer selection. If they make more killers and survivor loadouts available the number of players in 2v8 would probably climb much higher.
It would easily overtake the 1v4, if it had more maps, and more classes, and all the killers the game has to offer. There's no competition.

That's the problem. Not enough Killers available and not enough for Survivors to do.
We'll see if it improves next time it comes around, if not BHVR really needs to think about if it's a good idea to sacrifice queue times for this one mode.
Plus side, maybe it will convince people that waiting for better matchmaking is a better idea than five seconds for a bad round that either is stomp or be stomped because we're all too impatient, and they'll actually fix matchmaking.I think the queue would fix itself with time. Since if you think about some people have literally been waiting YEARS to play killer with a friend. I know I was waiting for this mode for years at this point. People will eventually find their favorite mode. I think it was an avalanche of people wanting to play as killer, since it's new thing for this game.
-
Nurse players usually come on two spectrums. Either they are good, or they are not good at playing her. Now if they are good then it's usually a wrap for the survivors. BUT if the are not good then it's a game over for one. Since they won't be getting any downs.

As soon I tried 1vs4 I was tunneled and team didn't touch gens. Then gave another chance and was camped by tombstone myers only played 1vs4 as I know there was going to be 500% bp incentive (almost everyone bring cakes) but was not enough to keep me playing after that.
SoloQ is just unplayable in 1vs4 and that I learned from 2vs8 where my teammates at least try and do gens. 2vs8 is more fairly balanced for solo so I been escaping much more than in regular. If match is bad you can at least get quickly out but like im fine not escaping 100% of the time would be too easy.
So you didn't find minutes chase fun my teams has always completed all gens when im chased that long. Skill level of killers changes a lot there are many good ones too. I at least have fun looping killers. What I understand most survivors like to go agains't m1 killers and loop them and that you can do in 2vs8.
5 minutes waiting time is fine i say over 10 minutes is too long. If you can't wait 5 minutes yeah you have been spoiled. But like im fine to wait for 2vs8. In future survivor side need some new things.
Ironically in a way 2v8 is MORE balanced than the 1v4. I have personally not played the game in over 2 years. Just got back, just for the 2v8, not planning on touching 1v4. But when I last played 1v4 it was the same story in solo, survivors not touching gens. And based on what I seen on YouTube they seems to have nerfed survivors even more so. But non the less the 2v8 is more balanced in a way since everyone is at a even playing field. As survivor you don't have to worry about NOED, or ruin, or perks like that. And as killer players don't have to worry about survivors running the exhausted perks. Such as dead hard or DS. And not having to worry about flashlights, or pallets. And it's actually hard to get camped or tunneled in this mode.

Q times are awful yet survivor in 2v8 is still instant...I think people are genuinely upset that others prefer 2v8.
Where was this outrage for the other modes? Right, there wasn't. Because everyone and their grandma weren't queuing for killer.
Instead of crapping on 2v8, maybe 1v4 needs to just be more fun. The customer is always right, after all.
I don't understand why people would be upset that 2v8 is a more enjoyable mode for some people. Like for me personally, it brought me back after taking a 2 year break from this game. THIS mode brought me back to this game. This is the most fun I had in this game since I began playing it. I could see this mode overtaking the regular mode if the added more maps, and all that good stuff. Like for real this is a fun, not a stressful mode. I get that the queue times are horrible, but I think people just wanted to play that role considering some may have been waiting for 8 years. I know I was waiting for 4 years to get a mode like this, so for the me the queue waiting time was worth it. But yeah I'm sure if they would make it permanent it would fix it self, since people would find their mode. Like I also heard about these others mode they brought it. But none of those modes even brought the numbers as 2v8 did. I knew people who had been inactive like I was, that came back just for this mode. Like honestly no other mode has had this impact.
-
An indifferent option would have been the way. I just view it as as a part of the game.
-
I threw the towel away. They nerfed MOST of the decent survivor perks, and worst of all they nerfed my must have perk spine chill. Yet they nerfed some killer perks, but they buffed the slowdown perks. They turned tunneling and camping into valid gameplay "tactics". Yet for the most part they mostly nerfed solo Q, because decent SWFS squads are still rolling in the mud, they hardly get affected. It's the average solo survivor who got hit the hardest. They wanted to appease the one siders, who where not happy that they where not getting 4 sacrifices in 99% of their matches. But I haven't played for over a month and definitely not planning on returning after seeing this debacle unfold, because I don't really enjoy playing the killer role. So for those who are playing solo Q, enjoy and have fun.

It's unfair how hard Spinechill counters Myers and Ghostface.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2916614#Comment_2916614
...How?
Are stealth killers overpowered without SC? Because I don't think a single one of them is above 'C' tier.
Wraith, Pig, Myers, Onryo and Ghosty are all pretty crap against survivors that know what they are doing, with or without this perk.
SC is an incredible early warning system that also gives you hefty advantages in chase (that vault speed has saved my butt so many times).
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2916628#Comment_2916628
The issue is that stalking killers are straight up blind-countered by this one perk, which is pretty unhealthy for the game. The entire point of stealth killers is that their terrible kits are somewhat balanced by better approaches. SC completely negates this aspect.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2916621#Comment_2916621
This wouldn't be so much a nerf to SC as it would be a small buff to Myers and Ghostface, and a smaller buff to Pig, Onryo and Wraith. Which is not a bad thing - all of these killers need buffs.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2916644#Comment_2916644
When you strawman, you concede the argument.
I enjoy playing survivor as well as killer, and I'd be happy to see SC not work against stealth killers, especially Myers and Ghostface.
One already very powerful perk shouldn't hard counter two entire killer kits, on top of being excellent against everyone else.
That's a bad design oversight.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2916640#Comment_2916640
See above.
The issue isn't the overall power of SC, it's that it completely breaks two killers and makes 3 others a lot weaker - all of which are already weak killers.
Even if it didn't work against undetectable killers, it would still be a five star perk.
I think "weak" is subjective. Sure myers and ghostface may be "weak" vs the top 10% of the survivor players. But they may be decent vs the bottom 90% of survivors. The point of the perks is to tell you if a undetectable killers are coming towards you. We can already hear the heart beat at 32 meters for most killers, or at 24, or 16 with M&A. If the perk were to become useless against the undetectable killers it would be worthless to run it at that point. And honestly the way I look at spine chill to me. It's essentially a casual perk, I use it when I play solo since I like to tune out and listen to things in the background. So I can listen to a video, or when I'm hearing the T.V. If spine chill where to get nerfed I would play way less. I would only play with my friends, it's not that fun to sit and do a gen I like to enjoy listening to my podcast. The perk can be countered, and I lost to myers and ghostface in the past despite running spine chill, it's not OP. You can actually use spine chill against survivors believe it or not.

Yeah I don't, nor have I ever ran DH for a large period of time. I do just fine with sprint burst.
-
There is nothing people don't want nerfed in this game lmao. Like turning one of the decent perks into a useless perk. It's not OP, it can be countered. Would you guys rather see more spine chills or DH/BT, since that's the perks I see you guys always complaining about. If anything you guys should put more energy into asking for weak/useless perks to be BUFFED instead of nerfing decent perks.
-
New game mode. And new maps. Even a 8 vs. 2 killer game mode would freshen the game up.
-
Nerfing the concept of boons would been a much better idea. Only allow the user to heal from the boon, and get the bonus speed. And the something with every other boon. That way boons could stay strong but only apply the users, and not be super SWF perk.
-
Spine chill is not necessarily OP. I use it mainly to tune out of the game when I play survivor. Sometimes I just like to tune out in the background to listen to the T.V, or a video. It's a casual perk to allow me to focus on other things since it's boring to sit there and focus on a gen. If the perk where to get nerfed again, I wouldn't play as much honestly. It's a must have perk for me when I'm playing survivor. And I'm not really a person that likes "jump scares", I'm more of the faint heart per say.
-
The invisibly over M2 attacks, such as getting directly hit by a hatchet. And the ability to dead hard over traps.
-
I agree, it really does seem some just wanna get the 4 sacrifices each round. People got to understand this a heavily RGN game, so realistically the RGN can favor one side over the other. And this a multiplayer game, now you can get to a point where you can get 4 sacrifices in most of your game's. But even the best killer only players lose matches every once in a while. Also I think a lot of people focus a lot more on their loses over their wins, so maybe that is why they focus so much on wanting to get 4 sacrifices each round.
-
Yeah they definitely should look at this add-on. It literally ruins the game not allowing survivors to essentially play the game.
-
Loop him behind a giant rock... There you go boom. That's the key to success when playing vs. the trickster.
-
Just assume any username such as hex, or any odd name is steam. Since we can change our username to whatever we want, at whatever time. We don't have to pay the 10 bucks to change our name :), nor do we have restrictions. Our usernames tend to be the most unique, since can put whatever we want.

See this issue with this as a COH user is Killers complain a ton now about just one boon in the game now imagine right if 4 survivors ran COH with your change do you understand how the mald people already have for it now would be 10x worse also the Killer having to hunt 4 totems is a little insane ngl I think it's fine the way it is should be toned down or like someone suggested on another post make it so Killers can bring a hex back if they find a boon totem make it an interesting minigame vs survivor and killer with boon and hexes.
No since even if the 4 survivors bring a totem they would have set it up and go to their boon. So it's not like how it is now since one survivor can bring circle of healing, and boom upgraded self-heal for everyone. The whole squad has unlimited heals. And not only that survivors would have let go of another perk in their builds. So it's a net positive in my book. Since it's more than likely certain boons are going to get nerfed into useless territory. That way boons can stay strong.
-

survivors already start bm'ing you or throwing the match if you don't let them bless a totem or you cleanse one, imagine how many will start throwing a tantrum and stabbing each other in the back if they have to start fighting over boon spots
It's either that or boons are probably going to get nerfed into the ground since everyone is complaining about them...
I rather boons stay strong, even if I'm only getting the benefits. Plus every perk in this game only applies to one's self. So it's the fair thing to do. One could still build a healing build around circle of healing since the owner would be able to heal others quick. And since there is 5 totems everyone can out their own.
-
Honestly them nerfing the whole concept of boons would be the easiest solution. It would be more fair if they keep boons strong, but for those that own the perk. So that way the only user can get the benefit, not the whole squad.

I keep seeing people say "Killers being C tier is perfectly fine!" And I can't help but wonder why you'd think that? Killers being at C tier literally cannot win and seeing as you're forced into constantly being matched against people who are great at escaping specifically you (MMR) I don't see why its okay for a killer to be in a bad position. Wasn't the standard previously "Every killer should be A tier."?
She is not "weak" though. She is a solid B tier. She can create strong pressure, because she has great map pressure. I played her, and sure while she is not on artist or blight level. She is not weak as everyone is claiming. But I do think she needs a buff to increase her map pressure. And when you look at it the last true "weak" killer that was released was the trickster, but overall they really have been releasing solid killers since pyramid head.
