  • I wish the existing report system had an impact for situations like these.
We have the tools to report players for their behavior, but it is only used to ban cheaters.

I wish my profile showed me the feedback I've collected from other players.

Maybe it would change user's behavior if there was a BP incentive to have X% positive feedback over Y day ranges.

  • I've really enjoyed playing the event so far. All I really have to suggest are balance changes.

    • The blood drop mechanic from the 2024 Blood Moon should be brought back to give Killers options.
      • The main issue with the mechanic is solved now that scratch mark colors are customizable.
    • The penalty for running with the jerry can should be doubled to make it a real choice.
    • The penalty for leaving a jerry can on the ground should be halved to incentivize collaboration.
      • I had a survivor fill cans for me in some of my games and I thought it was really cute to have that.
    • Killers that hit survivors with jerry cans should cause the jerry can to be dropped.
    • The Bloodshot Eye should add a singular Blood Pump to the map per use. 4 pumps are just not enough!
    • The Bloodshot Eye should not be set at 100%. It is locked to the event. A minimum should be 125%.
  • Welcome to the Fog; welcome to the Forums! :)

I'm glad to hear that you dig them! I can pass this on to the team, but I'd love to dig into the specifics - is there something in particular you find most engaging about them?

Blood Generators allow players to generate meaningful progression by moving around the map instead of being fixed to one location and holding the objective. Getting the opportunity to see more of the map compared to a traditional match feels like a completely different gameplay experience to me.

I don't want to take away from the Blood Moon event, but I could see the concept being brought back more often during the year. Blood Generators and Pumps could easily be reskinned to Slushie Generators and Pumps for summer break players.

As survivor i can abandon when the killer is wasting my time after all hope of escaping is gone. So why when all the survivors are standing in exit is there not a killer abandon feature? This is a clear double standard and there is viable reason that is isn't here yet.

I don't think the programming allows them to easily count when X survivors are X meters from the gate. It would be implemented easier to trigger when the exit gates are powered since the perk code for Adrenaline already checks for that … which does change the conversation topic … but only by a bit.

Should Killers be able to DC for free if the exit gate is powered? I personally don't see why not. The game has effectively ended by that point even if the usual endgame scenarios gift you a free kill or two.

  • I think the exhaustion perks as a whole need to be reworked.
If I was allowed to have my say…

    • Sprint Burst should be nerfed to cover less distance to counter utility.
    • Lithe should be nerfed to cover less distance.
    • Balanced Landing should remain unchanged.
    • Dead Hard should remain unchanged.
    • Dramaturgy should remain unchanged.
    • Smash Hit should be buffed to reward skill expression.
    • Overcome should be slightly buffed because it only activates twice in most games.

This code just unlocked the banner for me! Thank you for letting me know. <3

  • I like these changes and look forward to the PTB. The player experience is rightfully prioritized over competitive streaks. Content creators will be affected more than the general playerbase here.

  • I would love to see a dinosaur running around the Dead by Daylight universe!

  • +rep, this perk needs to be buffed in some way to justify the perk slot. When the original Circle of Healing entered Dead by Daylight, this perk made sense to enter the game. The perk really needs to do SOMETHING if boons are not brought to the trial.

  • I appreciate that you asked this question, but I have to acknowledge how tough this conversation is to tackle. We simply cannot determine why the player was upset. Were they upset for a DBD reason or a non-DBD reason? Did they have a bad day? Or are there frustrating gameplay elements that signal opportunities for improvement?

  • I personally disagree with you, but I wish I could be on the same page as you. Queue times for the 2v8 game mode remain a significant problem for the developers to tackle. There stands a good reason for the Survivor gameplay experience to have "wild" and "crazy" elements to draw attention to the game mode. Estimated queue times have reached over 20 minutes!

  • I have been under the impression the game mode is still actively being designed. The product is still in the oven. I would hesitate to compare statistics from 2v8 until there is more consistency between the versions. What are you hoping to do with the information if statistics were shared?

Won't happen, exactly because of Leatherface Face Mask Situation (btw. I never heard of this "issue" before they announced to remove the Face Masks back then). BHVR will play it safe.

What if the killer skinned their victims, and then patched their skin together like a quilt on the skull? I used Meg as an example, but if multiple races were in the design — kinda feels like equal opportunity murdering to me.

  • I know I am late to the party on this thread, but I still want to give my thoughts and input.

More specifically, I do not understand why ONE survey published at ONE point in time is used to draw conclusions about developer thoughts and behavior. Don’t you think any reasonable conclusion should be based on more than ONE piece of evidence?

After taking the survey, it is clear to me that the developers are looking at improving the survivor gameplay experience to reduce churn.  The survey had a Survivor focus. This makes complete sense to me. In every trial, there are 5 players. 4 of the 5 players are Survivors. It stands to reason that you would FIRST look at how to make 4/5 people not quit the game.

This does not mean that Killers are unwanted. This does not mean that Killers are unloved. The 5th player is NOT left out. They are still cared about. But change does not happen overnight. We have to start somewhere.

The goal is to make all five people happy. I would rather start by improving QoL for 4. QoL for the 5th is still important, just lower priority. When the next Survey drops and it has a Killer focus, I hope we all remember this conversation and how silly we looked trying to draw meaning from something so simple.

Been asking for this for a while now but I refuse to give up on this dream.

You know these skins would sell like hot cakes if they got added.

Completely understand why Warner Bros might not want their children IP associated with a mature game like this, but common it would be so perfect: Freddie, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and maybe scooby. Also, at this point, the Scooby Doo IP has to be in the toilet after the box office bomb that was Scoob and years of no new content. Like I seriously doubt they're drawing in many new young fans for Scooby Doo so what do they really have to lose.

They don't even need to be new survivors they can just make them cosmetics/cosplays for existing survivors like Attack on Titan. They could even give Dwight a Scooby onesie.

if they don’t get the license, I hope they at least go the Gigi Goode route and softly reference their designs

With the newest survivor chapter teasers having spoken lines we are likely about to receive another talking survivor. Now whether this is strictly in lobby or also in trials is yet to be seen. The question is though, does this overall improve the quality of the character?

Older characters quickly rose to popularity without lines. Do these extra credit additions actually attract players specifically to the newest characters? I think the overall response is neutral, but it does make the newest additions stand out to a stark contrast compared to the majority/older cast.

Can we see a setting for voice lines?

    Voice Line Activation: All/Lobby Only/None.

Trial Voice Line Frequency: High/Moderate/Once Per Event

I think the lines are fine to stay and may be especially appealing for future licensed content, but certainly players may tire of repetition or simply prefer the classic experience.

What I really want to happen:

    • All current DBD sounds are mapped to 100%
    • We have the option to turn things down, not up.
    • I can turn off Killer SFX, but leave Survivor SFX.
    • Give players a choice to be silent, but not a choice to make things louder for a gameplay advantage.
  • I would get bullied off the forums if I posted this in Feedback and Suggestions.

Genuinely there is no reason for Hex perks to exist at this point. They’re supposed to be glass cannons but you forgot the cannon and left them as glass.

Just remove all hex perks and change them in some ways so they can be non hexes.

Devour Hope is the only Hex Perk actually worthy of its Hex category honestly.

Edit: Pentimento was imo the only thing keeping Hex builds viable because it actually gave good slowdown and caused survivors to second guess cleansing a totem. But that’s cooked now I’m sure.

    My personal beliefs

    • Hex Pentimento needed to be nerfed, but the nerf went a bit too far. It should walk back a bit.
    • Totems need to be more reliable to find. Please stop acting like I bring a map or Detective’s Hunch to every game. Try to find Devour Hope on Swamp. Congratulations, you just lost the game because you couldn’t find a totem in a random corner. So frustrating because there is no skill expression, and there’s no way to “learn” 97% of totem spawns!
    • I want totems to have more gameplay impact whether or not hex perks are played. I want to care about them every game, whether or not a perk is possibly in play or not—because the gameplay rewards me for it in some way. I hope BHVR finds a way to accomplish that.

Today, we recieved our first snippet of information about the next survivor chapter - Steady Pulse.

    https://youtu.be/EHBgVJpQZcI?si=FIHP1s3OxoRxGtna

It's scheduled to release on May 6th.

And... It will probably be a lore survivor, just like Haddie. The name Barra is mentioned, but I can't exactly remember off the top of my head what part of the lore that name was in, I think the survivor turned killer story? Idk.

But, I'm intrigued about the new survivor, and glad that teasers are a thing again.

Edited in side note: The music at the end is AWESOME. I love the violin composition.

    https://youtube.com/shorts/Hyz6LrdE8rE?si=eG5zOkbgVlZXlLA6

Edit 2: The Barra mention was likely a dead end, as the woman in the recording seems to be the new survivor and the second recording avoids him completely.

We did get confirmation that she is a nurse of sorts, confirming the name of the chapter.

    Paging Nurse Boots!!!

We have a CODE SLAY on the way!!!

I will lay my life down on the line for this new survivor and I have not met them yet. I want to know their pronouns and I am really excited because I trust BHVR to actually write queer characters well instead of making them so aggressively one dimensional.

I expect more “this is who I am, and I am PROUD of it whether you care or not” and less “I’m the best background character in someone else’s life because I am different and special, and this is all I am” that you see a lot these days when the writing gets forced.

After checking some of the accounts (since I still have unedited screenshots), but not all the accounts, some of them still play DBD, and some of them were still actively on the game.

Meanwhile, I get report feedback for reporting people for cheating, since they end up getting banned eventually. Either that or they get banned because they would receive a large amount of reports.

Their TOS states that temporary bans are given for Communication Abuse, which includes hateful speech and repeated harassment, which it is clear is the case here since they are targeting me based on my identity and sending hate my way as a result.

Do reports like these get ignored or somehow there is an automated system that ignores these? Do these gets overlooked? I really have no idea, it feels like my reports do nothing.

Do we know for certain that temporary bans are communicated the same way permanent bans are? We are logically using an example of a permanent ban as a comparison here, but I do not think that is right.

I think this is more likely a communication issue.

Not sure whats been going on lately but the past few weeks, whether its me or another survivor, the killers have just been tunneling non stop. I cant even see how tunneling is fun from the killers perspective.

I'd actually like to see dropped Jerry Cans be kickable to make blood zones or boost the Killer, or find some way for Killers to interact with the blood pumps. Maybe a "bloodthirst" event that could give them buffs when they use the pumps, buffs like some permanent haste, permanent faster break speed, permanent heavier kick damage, a single one-time-use insta hook, a temporary Undetectable, etc. In addition this makes Survivors have to ration the blood in the pumps too which means they have to strategize - do I do a normal gen, or do I do a blood gen?

All your ideas are good too, and add a lot more strategic interaction. I'm so sad we didn't get cool stuff like the Halloween smoke bombs or the invites from last year's Anniversary giving new powers, I really liked those. I also liked the blood zones from 2024, they were useful both sides if a bit boring. A fun event has GOTTA have something fun for both sides, especially if it's a long one… otherwise it's not really an event, is it?

As of right now, there is absolutely no reason for Killers to play this event besides increased BP - and Killers already always have that. I'm sorry but bribing me with high BP gains to play an unfinished and unfun event mode does not work on me as Survivor, and won't work on me as Killer, either. I do not care how many BP you offer me - I would much rather just play the normal mode here where my build and character choice isn't stymied on both sides. And it looks like the vast majority of the community, both Killers and Survivors, agree with me, for different reasons.

I agree with all the points you have made. Where I find myself confused is that the bloodpoint bonus has only been for survivors the entire event. This indicates that the feedback I see does not represent the big picture. I do not have conviction in my personal conclusions because of that. There is a lot of nuance because we obviously take the game seriously to post on here, but the larger playerbase may see things so much different.

I know a lot of things are happening like the event and the release of kaneki and Etc and the fire is only increasing but if you think your hardest is this better than what behavior was and used to be and do you think they are deserving of a little credit for how they "improved" if you believe they did or need to work harder and have a whole lot more room for improvement from being considered "Better" from what they were?

what is your thoughts on this

I think it is easy to forget that BHVR is not a single entity. It is a collection of hundreds of people who are all on payroll to make the community excited, keep the game in a healthy place, and continue to expand and develop what they have created. I think BHVR has improved because they very clearly changed their communication strategy after Tools of Torment. After the failed Twins rework, there is a greater sense of cooperation with the developers, and it feels like things are moving in a more positive direction. The new creator program will not be announced until May, but I think that will help solidify that BHVR is moving forward in a positive direction. How many times have you had a question because a streamer did? I know I have, a lot. When someone as skilled as Otzdarva or Hens333 doesn't know something—how is there a chance I can figure it out? I really wish more people would understand and understand we are on the same team as BHVR, not working against them.

They want the game to keep running. You want to enjoy playing the game. There is a relationship, there.

I do not have the ability to speak for other people, but I do have the ability to speak for myself. I do not mask when I play Dead by Daylight, or when I post online. That is the #1 rule for me, and it's why I haven't joined any SWFs. I want to be nonverbal and just enjoy being myself with something complicated and intricate I can focus on. I am sure that my feedback has accidentally been offensive, hateful, or plain rude at times because I do not pass what I say through a filter and it comes from the heart. I think somewhere along the line, BHVR realized that players who think and act like me are not intentionally being mean, at them, most of the time. It is just how I express myself in my natural state, and I contribute and think very deeply about the game, what things mean, and how players treat each other because I care a lot. I still see threads posted about BHVR employees that absolutely cross the line before they get deleted; but deep down, I wonder if the authors are like me too—just more destructive.

    It could be that.

But they seem to test ideas that the community throws out in limited time modes also.

The blood fuel, for lack of a better term, gives survivors an alternative to just a gen progress bar and a bit of a scavenger hunt, while also giving killers a way to counter play that progress with chase. Those are so things people have suggested they do in the live game.

As a devil's advocate, if they're actually wanting people to try the new mechanic, why wouldn't they disable other effects? We know for absolutely certain how things would play out if regression affected blood gens: people wouldn't even think to try anything else. Pop, pain res, camp and tunnel.

Even with that option off the table, people are struggling to even consider that "chasing the survivor off the gen" is regression in this mode.

It's just that so many people are hard wired to think that camping and tunneling are the only way they can think of to play the game, they either aren't seeing or even trying it.

What if the idea wasn’t presented to the developers until December?

  • cans should leak slower on the ground

cans should leak faster while running

killers should force gas can drop

  • @AmpersandUnderscore said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3907770#Comment_3907770

I mean, they also deleted all gen rush perks and items.

This is a huge test for the community to see how well they can adapt to things they've literally asked for.

Three of the biggest requests have been:

    1. Gen rush perks and items are too much for killers to handle.
    2. Survivors need an extra objective.
    3. There's no incentive to not camp and tunnel every game.

And it's a test that at least some people are apparently failing.

Gen rush is deleted from the game. There's exactly one thing that increases gen speed, which requires carrying an item you have to find, move as slowly as possible to carry it, then get it to a specific gen.

So this is only gen rushing if people are just leaving survivors alone to slowly carry the item to a gen. If the killer leaves the hook (doesn't camp or tunnel), then they have not only interrupted the "gen rush" and pressure a survivor from working on a gen, but it also deletes the item charges to chase them.

So for all 3 of these complaints, the devs are realizing that those solutions aren't going to change behavior. They're being lied to by (some of) the community.

People will tunnel and camp even if gen rush perks are nerfed and deleted from the game. People will tunnel and camp even if survivors are given an extra objective or more gens. People will tunnel and camp even if spreading pressure rewards the killer with slower gens.

None of those 3 things are going to change people's behavior.

What if the generator perks were not coded, because they didn’t have a lot of time, and they wanted to gauge audience feedback before committing to an idea?

After Twins and Trickster, the community has taught the developers, in one way or another, they need to be cautious. We are too reactive. And we assign intent.

I mean, I had to run every info perk I could get my hands on to try and do that, because now there's slim odds anyone's going to be on a gen at any given moment, and there's not much time to enjoy like… chasing, or deplete map resources. It's okay, but it's not really a casual-play friendly event right now from the Killer side.

I’ve been having a lot of fun playing Dracula with

    • Beast of Prey
    • Predator
    • Bloodhound
    • Territorial Imperative

But I can see Brutal Strength being theme appropriate, too if you want a more competitive build.

If they are playing the game competitively, yes.

What if you are the wrong audience for this event?

  • honestly one big takeaway from this interview, for me, is that we really need butts buffed across the board for all the survivors and killers.

    Hey,

just out of curiosity what is your opinion about the new feature that survivors have to go to a blood pump, fill it up with blood, and then go to a blood generator and fill it with this blood. Of cause, the feature is still completly new but what is your first impression after playing as survivor or killer and play around it.

Also, what is your opinion that it is an intended feature that no perk (both sides), addon, and killer power applies/works with blood generators.

    my basic thoughts:

    • Cans on the ground should decay WAY slower.
    • Cans while running should decay WAY faster.
    • Blood pump auras should be revealed to survivors in some way in the future (offering/map/perk) because finding them on indoor maps is hard.
    • Urban Evasion should be 50% or 100% more than what it is currently set to. Urban Evasion and Fixated should not be the same speed in the trial. It’s literally the same perk at that point? Urban Evasion needs a reason to be chosen over Fixated. Fixated is literally standing UE + scratch marks, which means it has more utility/mobility.

New features are difficult to implement. It makes complete sense that we would use the Blood Moon as a good opportunity to play test a new mechanic. We want to reduce waste, not risk another failure. Imagine how much time would be lost if they spent 20 hours reworking the coding for perks, when instead they could give us a delivered product to play around with. We can have opinions and thoughts this way without wasting anyone’s time. I’ve had a lot of fun this event so far.

I do not think many people realize it yet, but …
If Blood Generators are brought into the base game, THREE GENS WILL BECOME SUPER RARE. It is highly unlikely that all remaining generators will be BOTH close together AND all three the same type. If any three gen scenario holds a blood generator, three survivors can work on it at the same time and finish it very quickly. No more stalemates, just action and flow.

  • Are we playing the same game?

I have got 100,000BP every round, on average. I’ve spent all day in queue until my batteries died. The event just started. Things should not be crazy from Hour 1. I want to unlock the crazy so it feels more earned.

Kicking blood generators as a killer is satisfying. The blood droplets were highly criticized last year because they looked like scratch marks. It was poorly received. I don’t see why they’d bring it back if it was hated.

On the survivor side, the new mechanic is fun. Getting to walk around and be productive is interesting.

Cans on the ground should decay way slower.

Cans while running should decay way faster.

I love playing the event and I am going to continue to. I am going to play a lot of DBD this month.

Invocation takes 60 seconds. A minute. 40 seconds max if you come down to the basement and think you're helping. Take a chase. Distract the Killer. Or be working on gens in the case of Weaving Spiders.

Invocations don't work miracles against a good Killer. In fact they are a risk, as they should be. WS trades a minute for 50 seconds off the 5 gens we have to do. Treacherous Crows trades that minute for vision of the Killer based on the number of crows they pass by.

We don't need another person in the basement. The lay of the land is Killer-sided. I don't need you in the way of the only exit out of the basement itself. I'm Broken at that point. Do something, anything, else. I'd appreciate it.

The word "abuse" is such a STRONG word to describe a minor balancing issue that will obviously be addressed in the midchapter.

We can't sit here and pretend that BHVR doesn't have a Twitter account. I am sure they played with the syringe numbers a little bit.

Imagine having to deal with nonstop Ghoul players running full meta in the new game mode. I don't think it's going to be playable. New game mechanics for survivors to learn against a hypermobile killer who's always on top of you. Getting through the event tome is going to be a struggle.

I respect your concern, but I also feel this is a big reaction for something so little in scope. It's just an event.

The developers have spent time and energy into putting together a new and unique gameplay mechanic for us.

We should honor their time and effort by at least playing (1) match in the event queue.

  • My only issue with content creators, in general, is that they have made the community reactive.

Every. Single. Thing. BHVR. Does. Gets. A. Video. My YT homepage keeps tabs on an entire company. Kinda wild to think about it.

I do not think this is a good thing for both sides. I want more Tokyo Ghoul "this is amazing" and less Houndmaster "disaster recovery".

I have watched so much Schmuckles lately you would think I'm metal gear solid in an airvent at BHVR HQ.
