i spend half the match in the bushes healing myself or others which is always boring as hell

This is your mistake right here. Stop healing vs. Legion.

Their power is basically useless if everyone is injured, and being injured vs Legion is less dangerous than just looping against tier 3 Myers, since Myers also has a longer lunge and faster vaults.

Legion is fine and a opt out of a killer system doesn't need to and shouldn't exist.

I agree with you, but we are a minority here on the forums. The game doesn’t do a good job at communicating that to players. Players themselves have to take initiative to learn counterplay. For some, that is too much work into a game they only play now and then.

  • I appreciate your dedication to Dead by Daylight, but I hope you find perspective and awareness. I also hope you examine the thoughts that cause you to express anger towards a video game company. You deserve to live a happier life.

You posted a huge screed in response to an utterly normal milquetoast comment. I'm not sure what you expected to get out of something like that.

You are here to pick a fight and I aint playing that game

Do you think everybody that disagrees with you and gives you an explanation for doing so is “picking a fight?”

  • I am ready for these changes to come to live, but I am hesitant at how they will perform. In the end, I know the developers can and will course correct immediately if things do not play out as intended — but I still worry a bit. A minority of the player base uses Dead by Daylight as a vehicle to act out their anger — and that behavior makes things difficult to balance. You can't assume perfect intent.

I see the Match Surrender Option playing out in two ways.

    • Inner Thought: "I can no longer make other players miserable by leaving them all on the ground."
      • Outcome #1: Find new ways to make players just as miserable, or attempt to circumvent the mechanic.
      • Outcome #2: Continue forward and intentionally slug all survivors to gain enjoyment by watching them all Surrender.

It does not make sense to penalize players for having the Surrender mechanic activate — but this will become a win condition.

  • The best counter-argument you could come up with was to make it about me and redirect the conversation.

I don't think we need a charm for every different identity out there.

With respect, I do not think you realize the significance of this suggestion. Dead by Daylight is very, very, very popular in the LGBT+ community. The winner of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 5 really likes playing Dead by Daylight, and has recommended the game to other RuGirls—that actively stream the game now in their personal time, in drag, for fun. When you have someone with celebrity status, who was on television, recommend your product to other people with celebrity status, who were on television, it will have a ripple effect. That ripple led to Matthew Cote going on Boulet Brothers. I hope you watch the DBD episode to gain perspective.

There should 100% be a charm for everything under the LGBT+ umbrella because these stakeholders are VERY important. Whether your personally agree with it or not should remain off the table. DBD is a business, and the business needs to grow. Telling an important sub-community "We have space in our game for some accepted LGBT+, but not you." is not the message a professional company should send. By creating pride charms in the first place, BHVR committed to the idea. Now they must execute accordingly.

Every single person that voted down this suggestion is acting on emotion and not logic. Give the Witch her charm. Let her exist.

Don't you mean Face the Darkness instead of Third Seal? Would make more sense.

There are better killers for such a build anyway tho. Just use Sadako.

The drones inflict Third Seal … if they work. 🙂

The fourth perk slot should have been Blight’s hex perk for pallets, but I really can’t remember the name of it. I don’t think Face the Darkness works well on SM because she can’t teleport around. It’s not very useful information to justify the perk slot. Just my thoughts.

    • 1. Hex Third Seal

    2. Hex Thrill of Hunt

    3. Hex Undying

    4. Player’s Choice

spam her drones to stay as undetectable as possible

They probably don't need it, and will come up with names by themselves.

I'm sure that a group of grown adults can come up with three names very easily.

I just think there is an opportunity to build the brand image and spin this positive here, and it would be foolish not to take it.

  • Without reading your post, the answer is Yes.

When was the last time you thought to yourself “I’m going to run this perk. It deserves to be in a build.”

    Exactly. 🙂

It's a high level professional to keep a bug for 2 weeks that broke the game in 2v8 with wesker, that he grabs a surv and it keep it on shoulder keeping the killer in hostage to doing nothing and leave the other killer mate alone vs 7 ppl

I agree with you it is an operational issue that needs to be fixed. Where we disagree is language and tone. You can’t talk to talented software engineers with degrees, certifications, and experience like this and expect them to be motivated. The code monkeys need to be respected for their time and effort, too. I hope the company’s shift in strategic vision to game health will lead to an internal culture where problems are hot fixed just as quickly as other live-service games on the market. The board members at BHVR want to compare and contrast to make decisions. It’s difficult for these stakeholders to engage and appreciate highly negative feedback.

Same as it's been for nearly 3 years at his point. I'll pass on playing the 1v4. I will however come back for the 2v8 events, that's the only time I play this game at this point. I personally prefer a game being fun, not playing vs the sweatiest players in this game every single match. And I played the 1v4 for years that I got bored of only playing that mode. But they been trying new modes so thats good.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/439654/campfire-check-in

Same as it has always been. I've always had a love hate hate relationship with the game.

I am in the same boat with 1v4. I really do not like putting my heart into a match only for someone to give-up when my team clearly has the advantage. I’ve started using Shoulder the Burden unstrategically on the first hook of the match to communicate with people “I am taking this match seriously. Please play with me.” but I also feel I shouldn’t have to do that just to get cooperation in a cooperative game. When other players see the effort I invest right away, I’ve had less games where people DC or throw the game when it goes sideways. But why does that have to start from my sacrifice?

Here lately I’ve been seeing a lot of balance discussions concerning DBD and it makes me want to take OTC headache medicine. The day has finally come where I have developed boundaries with this game. I thought I was a very dedicated player, but I’m not dedicated enough to argue balance on items and add-ons I never really used in my 5000+ hours, or will use in the future. I always play to have fun, and to make sure that other players have fun too. I want to clarify there is nothing wrong with being passionate about balance, but I’ve experienced a mental shift where I just don’t need that in my life. The people who know better/care can argue on my behalf, for me.

It would be cool if I could bet bloodpoints on the match somehow, so other players can see how invested I am to play and have fun.

Still retired unless something drastic changes.

I’m on the same page, but the community managers keep dragging me back in The Fog. I logged in yesterday to redeem a code because the banner was so beautiful and played a little while I had the game open. At the end, I checked and I somehow only have one tomb challenge left in Level 1 and Level 2. I’m not very good at staying retired from the game if I’m going to gold a tome.

I’m definitely still sitting at the campfire with everyone, though. 🔥 If you got a wish granted for something drastic, what would that be?

Now I'm not saying a full blown complete rework but well he's not as good as he was before a lot of maps don't have grass so less stealth since all he can do is pallets and windows which can be boring. 2v8 Trapper is a nightmare since he doesn't start with all his traps and is basically just an m1 killer with no map pressure in 2v8. So I mean how would change Trapper so he's not extremely OP but isn't basically screwed over by maps. Like could he trap areas like windows in a different way or is there another way to at least make him less of nightmare to play and give him some fun again.

I think it would not be too much trouble for him to be able to "throw" his weapon like Huntress, and be unable to attack until it is collected.

How the hell did you guys get these done? Im solo q since all my friends quit this game. I cannot for the life of me escape without being hooked once with spine chill or finish 4 gens in a SINGLE match with dark sense. They're the last two challenges I need to get done and they feel impossible.

Can the devs change these to make them more feasible or not as infuriating at least?

Like at least with the killer challenges I was able to show I was friendly and the survivors obliged me. But hthe odds of a killer throwing me a bone, in todays DBD climate, next to nothing.

I hate that I have to say this, but eventually you die so much … your MMR puts you in lobbies where you can actually accomplish those things. There is hope and you will finish those challenges. I know from personal experience. I had to force myself to stop doing old archives until 2026 because it was starting to negatively affect my mood in real life. After game 10 of trying to get a challenge, it really eats at you.

The number of active players always shoots up during 2v8. 2v8 is the absolute best mode this game has to offer. Of course it should be available all year long. I personally don't even play 1v4 anymore. I don't understand the business decision to only have 2v8 run for such a short period of time. I don't have the data but I bet the auric cell and cosmetic purchases also went through the roof during this time, not just because of the new RE skins.

I agree with you @turksmall236. I think DBD should have a casual mode that you can only play on the weekends. I never understood the purpose of events. I'd rather just have a permanent secondary mode queue that cycles similar to how Left 4 Dead 2 ran Mutations when they first came out. I still play Dead by Daylight, but I do it less frequently between events and I'd rather the game incentivize me to play more often rather than waiting for the next big event to come out. Game health is still a bigger priority to me, but I hope this is on their roadmap for the next 48 months.

  • I’m not familiar with the character. How would this be different from Sadako?

  • I mean this with respect, and I do not want to offend — but the last time they did this without an in-game tracker, the results felt manufactured and I had expressed doubts on whether it was legitimate, or whether they didn’t want to look bad and released it. I share a similar sentiment here and it hasn’t started yet.

Showing perks in the lobby? Bad idea.

Showing perks in the trial? Acceptable.

Players must be threatened with DC penalties to avoid lobby dodging forcing players to run meta perks, or suffer long queue times. I think I should know that my teammate has sole survivor … in the trial itself. How they could make that work from a UI perspective, I don’t know.

Can this realm be removed from the game altogether? It's not fun. It's just not fun. At all.
I can't think of a killer in the roster whose power isn't severely limited on either swamp map.
They are poorly designed, with some design decisions that are literally incoherent (edges of the map count as tiles (affects eg. Cenobite)).

Testoviron — please image a world where the BHVR developers take inspiration from Left 4 Dead!!! The Swamp has the best possibility to be one of the best realms in Dead by Daylight. All we have to do is just cross our fingers and hope. Left 4 Dead invoked environmental storytelling with the plane crash. Imagine if something similar happened in Dead by Daylight? And you could run through the plane while being chased? :D

I doubt there will be a point where survivors and killers are satisfied. No matter what there always is "tunneling is toxic" "slugging is toxic" "genrushing is toxic" everything is bad for both sides. Constant war of who gets what and who will get more changes. "Game is killer sided" "Game is survivor sided" and so on until one side gets a change and then the other side will cry and it doesnt stop. There is just nothing that would make both sides happy, this is an eternal war of sides fighting.

I personally believe that BHVR's 1000+ employees all really like their job, really care about the game, and want to see it succeed. A big issue right now is that players are claiming balance problems out of anger because it vents frustration. I believe the target kill rate is 60%. The game is balanced around that kill rate—but player thoughts and feelings are definitely heard and considered.

I recommend watching this video from Scott Jund posted today. It might help change your perspective. We are a minority within a minority here—and what we are exposed to is a reflection of that. The developers see the big picture that includes everyone.

More than 4 monts ago, back in October, we got our first design preview that let us know about the changes planned for the Trickster. And while we have not recieved any updates on Trickster specifially, I only ask why haven't we gotten more of these previews? They seemed like a cool new way of communicating changes with the community before actually starting working on them and I just doubt there isn't anything developers wouldn't want to share with us during this time.

    So, what happened?

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/FRM6UWW46Q5O/image.png

    My Personal Thoughts

    • Every week, the DBD community finds a new reason to raise the community manager's blood pressure with a new emergency. They probably forgot about it considering the mountain of issues we've gone through since then.

    What's More Likely

    • Freddy's rework did not get a design preview because it was such a big change that it would spoil his new killer power.

I personally think they will come back for less substantial changes that don't involve reworking the killer's power. They've just been working on other priorities, especially with the new Quality of Live initiative.

I agree to an extent, however when I'm a paying customer a lot of the lenient feelings go out the window. This time IF they actually fix anything, then I'll be grateful. Until that point though, I'll continue to have doubts, especially going off of things they've done in the past. It's never been the "idea" of changing, fixing, accomplishing anything positive for DBD by the dev team. Most people rightfully judge based on the "execution" of those changes, fixes, and accomplishments. Unfortunately for DBD, BHVR sucks at execution and nothing has changed that up to this point and for customers just the "thought" isn't what counts when we're paying for something. People want stuff done correctly, not done at a it could be better, it's fine for now, or mediocre level.

All we can do is sit and let things unfold to see what happens.

You are making a very valid point. Sometime in the last 90 days, Scott Jund said in one his videos that he doesn’t trust BHVR patch notes and doesn’t really care to read them because BHVR claim something has been fixed, when it really has not—or when bugs that were previously fixed come back. There’s a miscommunication somewhere and it has eroded trust in the information pipeline. All I can do is hope for the best. This game is important to me and I want it to stay around for as long as possible.

  • On a personal level, I disagree with complaining when someone/something is clearly trying to improve themselves. At a certain point, we have to give a sense of grace and a chance. How would you feel if someone was upset every time you tried to do something or fix an issue? It’s not very motivating to be told “you suck” every time you try to do something or make a difference.

The last chapter was dead on arrival. None of the Dead by Daylight content creators liked the killer, and I assume the statistics look bad across the board. Hens screaming “DOG, DOG, DOG” on the new Ormand map immediately comes to mind. To understand intent and motivation we shouldn’t look ahead—we should look backwards. I’m sure FNAF has something to do with it—but FNAF or not, the timeline stays the same. The new player experience needs to be polished. The game has not been growing. Clearing tech debt is the solution.

Almost the entire community is complaining about the game quality and how bugs are ruining matches. Just the other day, Otzdarva ended his entire stream because he had a serious bug that has been in the game for years, and the bug prevented him from using his killer’s power for the rest of the trial on Greenville Square. BHVR is acting on our feedback, and responding to criticism moving forward.

Let’s at least give them a chance.

I'm done playing with PC cheats who augment their guys. Also, the Killers have such a huge advantage. Whose bright idea was it to place a multiple skill check on healing and gives you Broken for a minute. I don't know if you know but a full minute is a good chunk of a game and sometimes its multiples of that. I play both ways and Killer is so easy, it is boring. You can't have a game with 7 Survivors for every 100 Killers but that seems to be your objective.

BHVR would get the BIGGEST W on the planet if they let us turn off crossplay to the Epic Games store players.

I've been seeing an increasing number of Singularity players lately. Quite curious to know what players on both sides of the aisle think about this Killer.

    —

Denied Requisition Form (Survivors start infected) appears to be a must-pick for the Killers I've faced. Seems like it provides a strong early game for a Killer already known for a strong late game.

From what I've seen, he is a huge noob stomper.
With perks like Hex: Plaything and Hex: Pentimento, he can slow the mid-game to a painful crawl as Survivors juggle totems, 3D printing, deactivating cameras, and going down in chase quickly (for those unfamiliar with it's power).

Unfortunately, I feel that if I saw this Killer every 3rd of 4th game I would tire of them very quickly. Their lockdown and game delay makes for a dull afair. Counterplay seems to be playing slow and safe.

I do not play Dead by Daylight sober and probably never will. I do not have the brainpower to play Singularity more than once every quarter. He requires too much thinking for no payoff. The Singularity is the only killer in the game that actually scares me. If The Trapper came into my house, I would laugh because I can loop him around my couch all day long. If the Singularity came into my house, I would scream and run. When his Death Top community cosmetic is released, his play rate will skyrocket and I am sure we will read about how he can be balanced more appropriately on the forums. He is rather underplayed which is unfortunate.

Ok this community really needs to stop happily kicking their feet like nothing is wrong yall I'm telling you it's not as "survivor sided" as you think.. killer was wraith he found someone right off the bat (it was a Kate that info is going to be important) and I got on a gen as soon as he started chasing (like I'm supposed to) he downed her. Hooked her then blew up my gen with scourge hook as I keep working they get her off then he found someone else and blew up my gen again he used 3 scourge hooks on my gen by the time he got his fourth hook I was still working on my gen and Kate which was the fourth hook killed herself cuz she knew it was a lost cause

Skip to the next match it was against wesker and I happened to get in with that same Kate.. she was the first one to the hooked. After she got hooked he started chasing someone else and us both standing were on gens that were almost finished so the other survivor finished theirs after it popped he went to it to chase that survivor and Kate killed herself so I said to myself we're not making it so I killed myself

Skip to the next match it's a huntress who isn't throwing hatchets (I'm trying to get an adept so yay for me) we make it to the end but she quits so it doesn't give me the adept so I try again

The next match this time it's a chucky at first it's going pretty smooth 2 gens down by the time he gets one hook and that one hook happened to chain friends til the end and it went down hill from there

I'm telling yall they are catering to the killer side

Also just had a trapper slug 3 of us at 2 gens and moried me without me being hooked... like did they not realize people would still be toxic to get as many points as they can. adding the EGC mori just encouraged toxicity even more

About the 6th or 8th match got hooked at 4 gens.. went with my rescuer to go heal but killer followed us hit me again hooked me. after i got unhooked I ran off to go do a gen. killer is chasing someone else but that same someone that only been hooked once ran him over to me therefore killer killed me (ik it wasn't my teammates fault but I was still very annoyed)

This is more of a rent then a point and srry about that I just need to get my frustration out as a solo survivor it's getting increasingly hard and sometimes unfair especially when you have people who say tunneling and slugging is fine because it's apart of the game when it's a problem no one has fun in that situation except the killer I can only hope the changes they announced will help at least a little bit

I think it's totally fair that you had a frustrating experience, and you dealt with it by posting to the forums and sharing your feedback. At least you let your voice be heard instead of queuing up and making the game miserable for other people. No complaints here. Solo Queue is an unforgiving experience, but it feels highly rewarding when you are able to synchronize with a team despite it.

While I do respect where you are coming from; as a whole, I do wish less people would express their anger in terms of balance changes. From my perspective, hearing the words "killer-sided" or "survivor-sided" usually translates to "I am upset in this moment" and while that feedback is important—the real root cause of the problem is often buried and lost under a balance discussion. When the developers read the narrative from the forums, they will primarily see the balance discussion — and not the real problem.

The actual, genuine, root problem from this discussion is that you were given a challenge to play the game a certain way with a weak build, but you were not able to get those results because your opponents were playing the game more seriously than you. The current MMR system keeps matching you into games that will challenge you, but you do not want to be challenged. You want to finish the task you assigned yourself and move on with your life. You tried to play more matches than most people play in a single day in search of this goal, but you still weren't able to make things work. That is frustrating. I have been in that position with tomb challenges and I get it.

idk if this is how to do feedback on the downvotes but I feel that people are quick to downvote than upvote. Like people are Quick to talk smack about others but rarely compliment it’s the same here. Previously if you didn’t agree or like what a person said you responded through a comment and if people agree with you you “ratio”. Twitter and Instagram is like that I kinda prefer that because on Reddit it is so easy to just downvote with never needing to comment on why you disagree. Especially on a forum place where people often times are going to talk about complicated subjects that aren’t unanimously agreed upon. Just my two cents on that.

I am torn, but my ultimate recommendation would be to keep the downvote system. I spend a lot of my personal time thinking about Dead by Daylight, and I like to post concepts, ideas, new mechanics, etc. I do this for fun, because I enjoy it. I don't mind if someone doesn't like my idea — I think it is important for me to get feedback on idea quality so I am remain aligned with the community. It's not very productive for the game's health if all the ideas that I suggest are not received or welcomed well by others. The point of posting feedback and suggestions should be to make the game a better place for everyone — not to make it perfect for me.

It took me a lot of real life therapy to get to a point in my life where someone can disagree with me and it does not upset me — so I understand how the feature can genuinely affect some players on a personal level. But even with that, we also have to think about the busy professional or adult student that checks the forums and doesn't have the same time or dedication we do. Their voice still needs to be heard and likes/dislikes make that easier for them. Reddit is a dark, stinky swamp where you get penalized and socially humiliated just for daring to have an opinion. I personally believe the culture on the forums will remain professional and dedicated, even with the downvote system. Anyone that makes an account on here cares about the game to some degree—even the ones that are openly aggressive to the developers and share comments that should never be said in real life towards someone.

    Title.

The front page is littered with doom posts. This is what the community asked for, and all we are seeing are a bunch of worry warts posting negative hypotheticals, expecting the worst outcome. Let’s all wait and see what happens first when the changes are made. The devs will adjust the new changes accordingly if need be. Just be patient and give it time.

I am not speaking for other people, but DBD is my special interest and I care about the game a lot. I had to go to therapy to become less anxious about the things that I care deeply about. Part of me always wonders if those conditions are at play when I see other people behave how I used to before I had treatment. We never know where someone is at in their mental health journey through a computer monitor—but I do know that most people are not directly taught civility or how to trust and place confidence in other people when they show a desire to change. Even though I do agree the posts are annoying, I would rather have these players feel they can express themselves than to keep their thoughts and opinions isolated. The more feedback, the better.

With that said, I still agree with your post and believe that the player base really HAS to understand these people are on payroll. It’s not volunteer work. It’s not a side hobby they “do” for fun. These people want to keep their jobs. They do not want the game to die. If the game dies, the likelihood of their continued employment is not very high. There was a clear communication issue for many years, but after yesterday, hopefully everyone can see they are really trying to do something about it.

Keyboard and mouse on consoles might cause large killer nerfs.

You want a hot take? Console killers have been dragging down the average killer winrates for years, because trying to play killer on a controller is hot trash.

For example, when the official killer stats said Blight had a 59% kill rate, was it really a 59% kill rate? Or was it something like 65% PC kill rate and 50% console kill rate?

If enough of the console users change to mouse and keyboard, will it raise the kill rates enough that large killer nerfs would need to be added to the game?

Hmm. This is an interesting viewpoint you shared. If allowing console players to have the same tools as PC players really causes numbers to change, that indicates a balance issue the developers are blinded to. If we assume they use statistics to make balance decisions, having different tools is another variable to consider. This should ideally make decisions easier for BHVR.

U mean u want duplicate killers? This could be fun, but also super problematic. 2 weskers, nurses, blight's would be super unfun to vs.

What they should do is boost xp and bp when playing certain characters, like mobile used to do. Killers should also be selectable in the pre game lobby, since currently u can lose your whole power as legion to a careless teammate running the shadow skill

The Legion has 4 members, and 2 members of the same Legion should be able to play together in 2v8.

Like it's nice we get more killers on a 2v8 since it's the only thing keeping the game alive in player base with these events. But add classes to the survivor side and don't make 2 killers stronger than they already need to be.
And no I don't mean to offend it's just an observation. Either way this needs a balance team at the very least

What if Legion in 2v8 could only queue with other players that are also playing Legion? It upsets me that the killer known for being in groups … is not in a group … in the group mode.

Getting to use keyboard and mouse controls will even the playing field and allow for higher skill expression. I get very angry and very frustrated when Survivors spin to avoid hits I would have got with a mouse. It makes me feel like they are making fun of me for not having enough money to afford a gaming PC every time. With this change, I can just use a mouse and get a special keyboard just for playing Dead by Daylight.

(Mr. Pope, if you ever read this, it would be cool if you put a DBD keyboard/mouse/mousepad in the shop when this change goes live)

How will they be able to tell if some is running a Slippery Meat + Luck increase build over just throwing?

Are they going to rework slippery meat to deter this or what?

Me and my swf occasionally like to run this build and I would hate for players to get confused for throwing.

I understand your concern, but the developers aren’t going to pour all their time into changes that weren’t well thought through. They made a VP sit on camera, so I assume they are taking this very, very seriously. A lot of the feedback I have seen addressed so far reminds me of all the YouTube videos I have been watching from all the creators. The community managers definitely know who MintSkull, Hens333, Scott Jund, etc. are, and I trust that BHVR copying their notes means they copied the thought process shared by the creators, too.

There’s a big difference to me between someone attempting to self-unhook in the first 30 seconds of the match, and someone attempting to self-unhook to give someone hatch. I think the developers will first focus on the poopy heads that throw the game the SECOND they see a killer they dislike. There will most likely be a timer-based feature, and survivors that chase after the killer will likely be penalized. The only problem, as best shared by Hens in his video today, was the cheaters that hook everyone immediately. I had this happen twice IRL, but I do not remember if I was penalized or not. I’m not sure what they will do about pointing at a hook, but I have trust in the process.

For those of you not in the DBD Discord, this was just recently announced, as you can see, we're getting massive QOL improvements and fixes this year

Here's to hoping this stuff actually fixes the problem instead of making the problems worse

All week I’ve been kinda sad because Dead by Daylight is my special interest, and I’ve noticed I’ve lost interest in the game. I haven’t found anything to replace it. Hearing this news makes me excited and realigned. Dead by Daylight is doing just what needs to be done!

Chaos Shuffle stayed the same for the 3rd time and it's starting to get really repetitive.

I mean, that's to be expected that it stays the same every time, as there's quite literally almost nothing else to change about the mode as the whole point of it is randomization of the game.

At most, you could randomize characters and add-ons as well, but that's about it.

    Perks should randomly change mid-match.

Don't get me wrong, I love the game but the horror theme is almost non existent. It's more of a mouse and cat game. I can only feel it's a horror game when I go against stealth killers.

When I describe DBD to someone who hasn't played the game, I describe it as 1 cat vs 4 mice, and the 4 mice get three chances to get caught by the cat before they die. Never once have I ever, and I mean ever, described Dead by Daylight as a horror game to people. Reading your post made me realize that.

I play Dead by Daylight a lot — and I no longer even describe the game as being in the "horror" genre.

  • No wonder the survivors aren’t having a good time! You begin the match by hearing the DC sound effect from any bots in your lobby. I’m conditioned to hate that sound!

A fellow Danganronpa fan? NO WAY!

Anyways, as a full chapter, it would be quite difficult. There is not a lot to work with, tbh. The series doesn’t have an enemy you can physically fight, so that’d be an issue.

But as a costume collection, it’d be easy. There are some nice matchups between the survivors and DR students, plus Mukuro would pair well with Legion.

So, while Danganronpa could be theoretically certified as horror,

    Spoiler Spoiler Warning ▲▼

I mean the executions, the Final Killing Game, the Tragedy, the fact the original version of THH was reworked for being too brutal and much more,

the gameplay just wouln’t work very well.

After smoking on it, I have an idea. Hear me out.

In Danganronpa 3 Future Arc, that killing game used bracelets with forbidden actions. This would create interesting and unique gameplay if implemented in Dead by Daylight. All Survivors would begin a trial wearing a watch or armband, and the watch face or armband would change colors and show the icon of the forbidden action. The three forbidden actions are: repair generators, heal survivors, and use items. Yes, I know this is crazy strong. Yes, I know it needs to be balanced. But if balanced, it would be FUN. The forbidden actions do not have to last the entire trial. They can work for a set period of time deemed appropriate. The forbidden action to stop repairing generators, for example, would never be 60 seconds under any circumstances while use items might.

Additionally, the assets used for Sadako's televisions can be redesigned to fit the Danganronpa world. It is up to the developers and Spike Chunsoft if they believe Monokuma should be able to teleport between the monitors. There is lore reason that he should — but it might be too aggressive of a power for him to be able to. Up to someone who knows more about balance, just an idea. The despair anime video that is discussed in Danganronpa 3's anime would play on the monitors, and any survivor who stays in the radius too long will be brainwashed, or have some certain status effect to punish them for not counteracting his power. The Megaphones could be copied from Ultra Despair Girls and be used as a healing device, not to stun or disrupt Monokuma.

  • I forgot to include this in my main post, my bad.

    Spoiler Spoiler Warning ▲▼

All the characters in Danganronpa are legal adults at the time the game takes place. In Danganronpa 1, the students are not aware the world has already ended, and they kill each other in an attempt to escape and go back "to the outside world" which no longer exists as it used to. For this reason, the characters are all actually 19 years old, but think they are in high school.

  • I wanted to hold off on giving my opinion about this for a few days. Now that I've had time to sit with the idea, I personally agree with the change. Even though it is not ideal to play with bots--I think the community has collective amnesia for how bad the normal queue is during 2v8 events. Remember Otzdarva's video from the last 2v8 event? It says something when the big dogs call it out.

    https://youtu.be/C6rjZoYUrB8?si=Hyt8xps-78swAMoT

With respect, it feels like the developers are asking us "Do you want to be slugged in 1v4 or have fun with some bots?" and while I hate to go against the grain on the forums, my answer would be the bots. I just want to play the game and feel like I am having fun.

I like most of the rift skins but, on the Survivor side, my preference is always always always to use colour swatches that match or compliment whatever the character's other cosmetics are like, so that you can mix and match outfits. So, this set of rift cosmetics all match each other and look cohesive, but they mostly don't match the characters' other cosmetics.

Like, David's most notable characteristic is still that he can't dress himself and none of his clothes go together and that doesn't seem to change no matter how many outfits he gets.

Fans have asked the developers for years to see David's snake. They have listened and provided.

Hi! Long time player here. I took a long break from the game, around when the Knight came out and I'm only just getting back into it. To make a long story short, I'm a big Evil Dead fan, and a big Alan Wake fan. I'm sure the question has been asked a million times before, but will their rift-specific charms return? I'm aware of the weekly charm bundle, but after keeping my eyes on it for awhile, I haven't seen a single licensed charm come back- not even the ones from the Left 4 Dead tome way way back.

I'd really like to know, and I know it's my own fault for missing those charms, but I was finishing up college and entering the job search at the time- I didn't have the time to commit to the game. I'd be a little disappointed if things as minor as charms were withheld because of licensing, and I've REALLY got my eyes set on the coffee thermos and Alex Casey lunchbox lol.

If anyone knows, I'd really appreciate it. See y'all in the fog!

I swear I just saw Alan Wake's flashlight and nailgun in the Weekly Charm bundle not too long ago …

I had a realization about what I really dislike about this game from a fun perspective and game health perspective. Most of these issues are with the current game design decisions (especially for killers and killer perks). This is not a survivor sided rant but a subjective take on what I find unfun.

With that out of the way, here are just some of my issues with killers specifically. I will break down further what I believe makes these unfun next. The first one will not be broken down simply because I feel like it would make this post too long. There are other issues I have too but feel they are way less of a problem for me:
    - Chase strong killers with potential for downs in under 10 seconds outside of normal chases
    - Chase strong killers with potential for gen control without direct interference or proximity to gens to protect them
    - Chase strong killers that have strong resource depletion rates

Chase strong killers with gen control outside proximity:
Usually this type of killer exists because their strong chase indirectly bleeds strength into their gen control leading them to be overbearing. Examples of this include Artist, Knight, and Singularity.

So, what is the issue with this? I believe killers like this make the match feel like a marathon instead of a 100 yard dash. Instead of being in an adrenaline filled, fun chase for a short duration, you never stop being pressured when the chase gets focused on someone else. This leads to fatigue for me during the match as I am constantly looking out for Artist to snipe at random gens for the full match duration, Knight to send his fastest guard to interfere for the full match duration, and Singularity to spread infection and even potentially switch to me the entire duration. I feel like matches need breaks in the action to feel fun and some parts of these designs are unhealthy for the game overall (i.e. allowing 3 gen control playstyle for two of these killers before the anti 3 gen mechanic was added)

Chase strong killers with high resource depletion rates:
This one is more of a blanket statement of what I don't enjoy than game health whereas the other two felt like they had some elements of game health in them. I also need to specify that I don't mean killers like Leatherface or Hillbilly as windows act as a useful resource against them. A lot of other killers do not care about windows with their powers. I specifically mean killers like Blight that can down you without breaking pallets very easily but have a power for them to just run through the pallets on low resource maps. I don't think the combination of strong chase potential and ability to break dropped pallets in the same ability should exist. Blight's power base kit shouldn't break pallets. I feel very strongly that the ability to break pallets in a strong killer power should only exist with a sacrificed add-on slot.

    Wrap-up:
To sum up, I don't like killer designs with a clear extreme strength in chase that can then bleed that strength into other major areas. I feel that killers with strong chase powers should only be strong in other minor areas instead of things like gen control and resource depletion. Otherwise, I believe they are an unfun design. This covers most of the killers I hate going against when I look back on my fun with the game going down over time. The part that bothers me is that most of these are more recent additions to the game. Sorry for the long post and thanks for reading!

Somewhere on the Internet, the developers have decided what the expected killrate for each killer should be. Due to this killrate, there is a fine line on what the developers can and cannot do to make an impactful difference, and not just an empty change. The issues you identified in the game would reappear elsewhere, as the developers have to straddle the line they created.

According to NightLight, Blight currently has approximately a ~60% kill rate. Pig has a ~59% kill rate. Plague has a ~59% kill rate. In my eyes, all three of these widely different killers appear to be equally balanced. For Dead by Daylight to be "balanced", 40% of Survivors must die, or changes will be made to the kit to ensure that around 40% of Survivors will die. I know how you feel about playing against killers you do not specifically like, but I do not think you consider that if 40% do not die — the killer will be buffed.

Things that you perceive as oppressive in the game are in place to keep the numbers where they are supposed to be. I strongly believe the argument I just shared is how the developers think when they review the statistics and try to figure things out. If you disagree with me, that's totally fine and I encourage you to continue posting, but you would have to craft an argument that addresses how your unique perspective tells a different story than the numbers they are looking at. Solutions are encouraged. But I don't really think it's worth the time and effort to nerf one component just to buff another in order to keep the killrate stable.

No. The last thing we need are more maps. Instead of adding a new map to the Forsaken Boneyard, the developers should rework Eyrie into a more fair balanced mapas this would help a lot more than a new map (with better lighting).

They should also rework map offering (decreasing the chance) since the current versions are so unhealthy, unfun, and disgusting for the game and for the playerbase.

I respectfully disagree. There is no harm in writing posts and sharing ideas on the forums. A good idea now can be executed later. We can comfortably assume that the developers will create 2 new maps every year. Based on the DBD community's vibes, one general community theme at the moment has been to add new maps to existing realms, instead of adding new realms like before. A fair number of realms only have one map — and we can naturally assume the developers will eventually target the Forsaken Boneyard—not because of community feedback—but simply because there is only one map and they are now expanding all realms.

With that said, I really hope the developers do something about Eyrie of Crows lighting. It is TOO BRIGHT. When I first started playing Dead by Daylight, I used to complain that the game was too dark for me to see anything. Now the game is bright and happy. It really would not hurt the developers to add a small warm color filter to Eyrie of Crows similar to how Night Light on Windows 10 works.

I don't think it even makes sense, like, logically to rerelease them for money.

Legacy is one pattern applied to each character at the time, I doubt it took too much effort to make. I don't think you understand how storage space works either, Legacy is probably only a few megabytes at most across all characters.

The only real value Legacy has is the exclusivity. It's actually kind of ugly overall imo, especially after all the changes made to the pattern itself. If you rerelease it for money, then it loses its main draw. It'd become just another default reskin. If you rerelease it as a P100 reward, BHVR make no money either, and it'd just upset a bunch of veteran players anyway.

The reputation hit wouldn't be worth it, especially considering that the only thing giving Legacy any sort of status is the fact that it's, well, legacy.

I don't think you understand how storage space works either

LOL. If you really believe that, it's not my position or duty to change your mind. All I will do in response is smile and look at all the IT certifications I have hanging on my wall. I have reduced AWS costs for my organization IRL. Over time, even small costs add up. There is not much difference between a collection of logs I am legally required to maintain and an outfit in a video game.

As BHVR is learning right now with the community, it is important to think long term and to examine what ghosts are in the closet.

I didn't need to. The current legacy skins would lose their "value" or "wow" effect from them being so rare if you'd just be able to get them by reaching P100. New skins, that's a different story.

I mean this with a lot of respect, but … what value? These cosmetics are largely unused and are relatively unknown. If you showed a sample Legacy outfit to a group of players, how many would actually know what it means and appreciate it? There is a difference between people who would be upset by the change … and people who are upset by the change on behalf of other people.

You both underestimate the power of a dollar that was torn slightly, soaked in the lagoon, and kissed with coral blue #2 semigloss lipstick. The only thing holding the idea back is that legendary cosmetics would need to be created for the new original characters. BHVR invested time, effort, and money into making those cosmetics — and it costs BHVR money because it takes storage space. It makes no sense to me why players should feel entitled to have limited time cosmetics for years and years and years and years. Anyone who rightfully earned them probably feels scared to use them out of fear of being falsely accused of cheating.

    What is #DBDPartners?

Not much is known about it yet. But the content creators who were invited to the 2v8 closed lobbies yesterday all had #DBDPartner in their stream titles. There’s something happening behind closed doors and I like it. I asked one creator what it meant, but all they knew was “they got to play 2v8 early” so it’s something brand new.
