I mean it’s solo Q, half the time your team is going to be massacred with nothing you can do about it. I usually run it with a key. It gives me hope when the team is getting slain.
The guy above me is recommending adrenaline which is laughable since tons of your games are going to end with everyone dead before the gens are done. That’s a SWF only perk if you want consistent value.
You could do Lithe over dead hard, sprint burst is better but walking around is bad. Deliverance is also a really good solo Q perk.
I would recommend a stealthy playstyle for solo Q. The days of good teammates are gone. You could run the killer for minutes while your team crouch in bushes even at red ranks. There are way less pallets than before and the new killers are stronger than ever. It’s usually just best to avoid aggro unless it’s a weak killer, because in solo Q your first hook is often your last.
I did like lithe with Q+Q and dance with me but felt like I was dedicating too much for that and I try playing stealthy but doesn't work half the time

At low/mid ranks you'll find a lot of bad players. Even in red ranks. Now if you want to avoid the meta/crutch perks that a lot of people use like DS/DH/UB, I'll suggest a few. Depending on your playstyle and what you like of course.
1st build - Adrenaline, Fixated, Sprint Burst, Deception. Very strong build.
2nd build - Adrenaline, Inner Strength, Head On, Quick & Quiet. A bit stealthier but strong & fun build.
3rd build - Adrenaline, Kindred (since you got mates who cant read situations fast enough), Borrowed Time, Balanced Landing/Sprint Burst/Lithe.
The reason I recommend running Adrenaline is that it will help you in end-game more often than not. Even if you get hooked after exit gates are powered, you are healed to full upon getting off hook.
Ofc there are a lot of different builds.
Avoid using Self Care/Urban Evasion/ Decisive Strike/ Dead Hard and you'll see that you improve much faster. Even with crappy teammates, you can still perform. Play risky, don't be a stealthy claudette stereotype. Always focus on doing something that benefits yours team. I'm a 100% solo que player as well and although rank doesn't say much, I do sit at rank 1 regularly (even if I depip to rank 2, I get back in 1-2 games). Just keep practicing, and it will be frustrating so be ready for all of it. Sometimes you will need to carry.
Also matchmaking is horrible right now and you'll come across people from all ranks. So like I said, be ready to pop off.

OOOO hold up that first build is actually kinda nice I'll actually try that out

Many killer mains switched to survivor or started playing something else. Undying helped with the current gen speed issue. But nerfing it, will result in more killers quitting. Matches of 4-5 minutes are normal, when i play as survivor. I wait longer in the queue than what i actually play.
I quit killer not cause of these upcoming nerfs or gen speed or whatever, I quit cause killer got boring

It will always be trash with it's restriction and only getting two uses out of it lol

Because they are activating in many, many scenarios that aren't tunneling or camping.
that doesn't mean they're for bad or newer players. Can't tell you how many times I wish I had either perk, but since I don't run those it's unfortuante. Hate it when a teammate gets camped (like this feng was against a twin at 5 gens) and there was nothing any of us could about it since no one had bt.

I personally think it's kept as a handicap to help newer players/bad players have a chance. Similar to DS, BT etc
Just my guess.
I would love to see kill rate stats for a weekend that has NOED turned off. I don't think people realize how much NOED single handedly alters the games kill stats. I think it's pretty massive.
wait how are ds and bt giving bad players a chance when those two help deal with camping/tunneling?

Pharmacy, it is my favorite perk solely for its ability to deal with RNG by giving a guaranteed healing item. I just wish it increased medkit efficiency or number of charges instead of that useless rummaging sound reduction.
I wish it always guaranteed a medkit of some rarity but first one is a guaranteed green and increase efficiency when healing others with a medkit.

For survivor, Any Means Necessary needs to be able to see dropped pallets around you. How am I supposed to know if a pallet right next to me needs to be reset unless I deliberately get off a gen just to look for it? Even if it's a small radius, we should be able to see the auras.
For killer, Mindbreaker needs to have a longer exhaustion time for survivors after they hop off a gen because all they have to do is hear the terror radius and step off for a few seconds before the killer gets there. Not to mention, this perk actually favors Sprintburst players as it basically 99's it.
Doesn't Windows let you see dropped pallets? But that could help
Mindbreaker been wanting to use it my self but idk how long it could be 10 seconds maybe?

But in particular I wish Distortion was better. It's a really cool effect for a perk, but only having 3 tokens is really limiting especially considering everyone and their dog runs BBQ so you'll end up losing all your tokens to it unless you run to a locker every time someone is about to get hooked. Also I feel like there should be a way to get more tokens somehow
Distortion should have maybe 5 tokens and hiding near the killer for a certain time should give more tbh

Surge. It's an awesome perk on the right Killers. But the M1 down restriction means that about half the Killers can't use it at all, so it's only usable on Killer specific builds. Also, Survivors that are really smart catch on to Surge and hop in lockers when they're about to go down to deny the Surge activation, which sort of sucks. Because locker grabs don't count as M1 downs.
I'd be okay with getting rid of the cooldown or make it work with abilities like chainsaw attacks idk how I would feel if both of those restrictions were lifted

"So what could be done on the survivor side to make sure the potatoes stay where they belong and not get into matches they shouldn't be able to get in? The issue with survivor is yeah it's easy to play in terms of just hold m1 and help out when you can but where there much survivors can do (a game issue not a skill one) it's gonna be easy for now until devs do something for objectives"
First we need the old rank reset back. The new one is way too slow in bringing people back down.
Second increase the requirements for pipping/safety pipping. It's near impossible not to pip on survivor even at rank 1 outside of suiciding or a literal face camp. Move more points from gens and into killer interactions and slow the gens down to allow for more time to have these interactions.
Lastly they really need to fix the matchmaking. We shouldn't be seeing matches with rainbow colors like we do now.
"They also hide mmr only cause when they made it to where it was possible to see other ranks people just kept lobby dogging which I guess they don't want"
You misunderstand. I'm not referring to other people being able to see each others mmr in lobby. I'm referring to seeing your own.
Old rank reset will help (I still don't get why they changed it to where it is now) and idk I feel like I get a lot of points when interacting with the killer when I can I just want more points to other stuff like being stealthy or healing and kinda want more survival points cause theyre isn't much in that category I feel tbh
Also what's the issue with seeing our own ranks? Is it due to people thinking they're better than they are cause they see a red rank and think "i'm so good" when in reality they aren't?
-
@Blueberry said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1894943#Comment_1894943
Well we can exclude matches where you get thrown wild ranks like the browns you were mentioning. That's a matchmaking issue and not truly reflective of a normal solo queue game.
There are a multitude of issues with mmr and why it's not going to work.
Firstly the whole reason we are getting mmr is because rank isn't an accurate gauge of skill. Yet, we aren't being told how mmr ranks "skill". We also aren't going to be shown our mmr. If mmr is to replace ranks because it's a more accurate gauge of skill, why didn't we just use that criteria for the current ranking system?
So what reason would there be for not showing us our mmr, not showing us how it determines skill and not just using its metric for the current rank system?
It's because there isn't confidence that it actually does gauge skill and also because they don't want us to be able to point out its inaccuracies or that it is matching us incorrectly. In other words, it's the current system we already have except without the ability to see the poor ranking and poor matchmaking to be able to call out the devs on it. It's a way to cover up the games issues.
The only reason they've given for hiding the mmr information is that it will supposedly be manipulated to control our mmr. This doesn't make any sense. If mmr measures skill...then us seeing the skill metrics...will make us play skillful in order to.."manipulate it"? So "manipulating the mmr system is just playing skillful? Sounds silly right?
You're now gonna have no idea after a match as to whether or not you were matched correctly and no clue if the system considers what you did playing well. You're gonna be in the dark. Can't complain if you don't know anything right? lol
Here's another issue different from the rest of this...
The game is quite poorly balanced in its current state. The extremely poor ranking system, rank reset being too little, too much ease in ranking up on survivor is what covers up the games imbalances. It puts more potatoes against good killers.
IE in a perfect mmr system world killers would be getting destroyed. The games issues I just listed cover up these imbalances.
So what could be done on the survivor side to make sure the potatoes stay where they belong and not get into matches they shouldn't be able to get in? The issue with survivor is yeah it's easy to play in terms of just hold m1 and help out when you can but where there much survivors can do (a game issue not a skill one) it's gonna be easy for now until devs do something for objectives
They also hide mmr only cause when they made it to where it was possible to see other ranks people just kept lobby dogging which I guess they don't want

The vast majority of my solo matches are 3+ escapes. You will get matches like that every now and then, but on average the bad survivor teammates you get are still decent enough that if you are decent you will do alright. IE most games they're just slightly bad that you can manage a win if you're good. Rarely are they so bad you can't carry.
In other words, I think when "most" survivors complain that they lose the majority of matches because they have teammates that are so bad that they can't win, it's actually because they are bad as well. This is speaking in general, not specifically towards you.
Most games are winnable in solo queue if you're good. Most, not all.
I think the majority of people on here lack good self reflection. This is a big part of why I'm thinking about starting a series of videos where I critique submitted videos to help people realize how winnable a lot of matches were if they had played better instead of just blaming bad teammates.
I know I myself am not the greatest but I do pretty well in chases and having good game sense but the teammates I get just...yikes (especially as late cause MM keeps giving me yellow/brown ranks for some reason?)
And I do tend to win quite a few of my games but so many I don't get to have multiple escapes cause my teammates just love to farm each other and not help out like I mentioned (can't tell you how many games I get where I have to do up to 3-4 gens myself lord it's annoying)
I really hope MMR (I have doubts) fixes mm so I can get better teammates more frequently cause lately it's a big yikes

Longer game time will encourage more chases. Having to do dull totems extends game times. If you assume equal skill, killers, especially low tier ones do not have enough time to chase, down and hook 12 times in a game alternating the person hooked. That's why tactics like camping/patrolling, tunneling, and slugging are used to save time or reduce the amount of time needed to hook someone. Now there will always be people who will face camp or tunnel out of spite, but most killers also enjoy the chase. Having gens fly when all you want to do is chase often leads to these time saving tactics. Yet when a secondary objective becomes more prominent, like the current Ruin/Undying meta or whenever NOED goes up in use, survivors will often complain that they don't like it.
Most don't like it cause it does get repetitive when it happens every game. I use small game to help but I got frustrated cause it felt I was using small game cause I had too not cause I wanted too, and I don't like being forced to use certain perks. Also I feel like there needs to be more incentive to want to cleanse dull totems tbh cause most survivors just don't care enough unless it becomes necessary (I.E Noed or Devor)
Yes I can understand killers want chase interaction (I do too cause it can be fun at times) but against killers like deathslinger, spirit, PH I rather just gen rush cause those killers offer little to no chase interaction which survivors don't like so in those cases they just gen rush to get out as quikcly as possible

I think the fact that there are way more survivors than killers shows that survivors like survivor gameplay, even if it's doing gens.
Some people just don't like killer which I can understand. I would play it more but it's so boring and easy to play killer (imo anyway).
I don't like m1 simulator but most killers just don't chase me so I can't do much about it

Because it feels like a more balanced and fair match.
If I'm in a swf it feels like we're bullying the killer with an unfair advantage that the game wasn't balanced around.
Kind of like if you enjoyed boxing as a hobby but for every match you went to, you showed up with a knife...does that sound fun, challenging, or simply fair for the other guy?
It's hard to honestly feel like I earned a win, or outplayed the killer when we aren't playing by balanced rules.
I can agree on balanced but it's also more frustrating when the teammates I get aren't that good. Had a game last night against a ghostface on haddonfield and the nea, bill and david kept farming each other like crazy while I did the only gen and they essentially threw and we all died (I died to egc) Sure it's more balanced in solo queue in a way but with matches like that I can't understand people who enjoy solo.
I try so hard to make solo work but when my teammates aren't good and won't help out I can't tolerate sometimes, sure I win some games but that's only if the killer was bad in some way
-
Last night I saw one but closed app while the game was loading and re opened :)

I mean all survivors do in terms of objective is do gens sorry that bothers you but trust me survivors don't find it that entertaining either but what can you do?

I prefer solo queue
Why may I ask. Personally it's how I play but it's god awful. I get teammates that leave me to die on hook despite running kindred sometimes (still don't know how people think this perk is good) I run the killer around for quite a while and I see my teammates doing nothing after getting hooked, and no one helps me with gens or totems so I'm not sure how anyone can prefer solo queue tbh

survivors complain about how boring gens are and then will whine for nerfs the second a secondary objective they complain. Perks, maps, legit just knowing where totem spawns are. There's a lot of counters but they might need to give up a precious second chance perk to do that
Most survivors want to be chases not sit and hold m1 on gens and totems all game

The point i'm trying to make is killers get a new meta perk that gets nerfed after 4 months, one of the best killers is getting nerfed, and survivors still want more. Maybe we aren't playing the same game here but i really don't know what the survivors on this forum want for killers.
Ruin Undying was an annoying oppressive combo that you didn't have to do much to get value from. I used it myself along with tinkerer and bbq and it was the easier time ever to play killer to the point it made it boring and I took a break.
Freddy does need a nerf to mainly just the passive sleep cause they're isn't any counter to it and it's annoying but outside of that I think he's fine just boring

This way you also give your teammates information as well, in addition to still making good use of Open Handed.
I'd also recommend an Exhaustion Perk, simply because added time in a chase is added time your teammates can do other things.
But disregarding the above, yay a fellow information user!
Kindred lowkey sucks imo. Sure give your teammates info but they don't do much half the time with it
-
Sorry but my friend and I had a game the other day where the two bledetttes we had did nothing but crouch around the entire time, and one even sand bagged me at one point. I cleansed every totem since ruin + undying was in play and my friend and I did all the gens while the claudettes were being useless.
I was the only one that died which was annoying heck on my 2nd hook one of the claudettes was near me and there was a door. So when blight ran to the other door thought she would get me but instead went to the other door while her and the other claudette (I think they were together) teabbagged and left
Worst part is they had WGLF and deliverance but didn't feel like helping so sorry, but claudette players deserve the guillotine when all they do is sandbag and crouch everywhere being essentially useless :)

It is entirely your teams fault when you all get slugged. There is no need for a new counter to slugging, there are plenty already available. The easiest counter is to spread out and not work on the same gen.
Stop being upset at killers who play well, be upset at yourself that you screwed up. Be upset at yourself that you were unable to loop the killer long enough to allow your teammates to reset. Stop asking for the devs to dumb the game down even more so than they already have.
I remember having a nurse with infectious and just slugging everyone despite all of us being on different parts of the map. You know the killer can slug and go after others and slug even if the survivors aren't grouped up right?

Spirit cause I don't like being "outplayed"

Indeed a welcome change. Now the only OP crutches left in the game are Iri Head, good headsets for Spirit and stuff on the Survivors side (namely keys, Object, comms and stacking 2nd chance perks).

Not really? I'll have games with no obsession and people get tunneled to death. Have an obsession and the killer will still tunnel. A lot of killers don't care lmao

@OtakuFreak said:
When is this perk going to be fixed? It is intended as a defensive perk for survivors when a killer tunnels them. As such, it is essentially an ''anti-tunnel'' perk yet it benefits the survivor even outside this context.
I propose these changes for the perk, in order to ensure it stays in the role of ''anti-tunnel'' and not ''anti-momentum'' or 60 seconds of invincibility:
1) Decisive Strike immediately deactivates upon another survivor being hooked. The killer directly chasing, downing and hooking another survivor (even if it's within a minute) is not considered ''tunnelling'' and thus, DS should deactivate.
2) As a defensive perk, it should allow a survivor a chance to escape and regain their bearings (i.e escape, heal). As such, any aggressive actions such as: unhooking other survivors, repairing generators, or stunning the killer immediately deactivate the perk.
3) Should a survivor hide inside a locker and be picked up, Decisive Strike's effectiveness will be weakened by 50% (to 2.5 seconds of stun). As this strategy ensures a stun, it is reasonable for the strength of the strategy to be weakened.
Thoughts? I'm pretty adamant on the first two being absolute. Perhaps the third one is negotiable... but then again hiding inside a locker with no counter play isn't entirely fair.
Address tunneling and i'll accept a nerf

And DS, Unbreakable, Soul Guard, 4 man SWF, Keys are perfectly fine.
Insane how delusional and disconnected from this game you are. If your biggest concern was a perk that can be countered 100% not even by a perk by a MAP then your opinion is very literally worthless.
Ds/Unbreakable is countered by not tunneling, and Ds,ub,sg 4 man swf with a key is EXTREMLY rare stop exaggerating. Ruin+undying was dumb and needed to be tone down. I run small game or detectives hunch but it was still dumb as hell having to go around the entire map looking at every corner just to deal with the combo.
Heck I used ruin+undying and quickly stopped using it cause it was straight up carrying me and it was a braindead combo.

"why won't the killer want to win?" Because slugging for the 4k is boring for both sides. The difference between a 3k + hatch and a 4k is almost none besides a few extra points.
Unless you're going for adept there's no reason to slug for the 4k unless you know where the last survivor. It's more about players' consciousness than a flawed design itself. The same can be said about survivors that wait until the last second of EGC even though the killer clearly doesn't want to go there.
"unless you know where the last survivor is" killers need to stop slugging for the 4k then when they don't know where the last survivor is after they slugged the other remaining survivor. When I'm slugged and the killer doesn't know where the last survivor is I will dc idc not there to have my time wasted
