I think many people forget that the game is about having fun. It's not like you get payed for getting a 4K or something lol and red rank is nothing to be proud of in this game tbh (shared opinion with my red rank survivor/killer friends) There's also a difference between hardcore tunneling from the start on and just tunneling because you're being 'genrushed'. In the latter it's totally fine by me. I play both roles so I know how it feels to be genrushed and sometimes you don't have another choice.
Just try to give the other side a chance to play the game. And with this I mean don't genrush like crazy as survivor and don't hardcore tunnel/camp (when it's not necessary) as killer. But you stated you don't tunnel in most matches and do it when necessary so that's totally fine. Nothing to feel bad about.
The reasons I think can 'justify' tunneling are being genrushed, going against red rank SWF, a toxic survivor taunting you, ...
Just remember the other side aren't some bot(s) you face. The game must be fun for both sides. At the end of the day no one can force you to play a certain way but it would be fun if survivors wouldn't teabag at every pallet and killers wouldn't hardcore tunnel/camp.
I bet the hardcore tunnel killers are same who cry about DS (crutch af I know but so is NOED) being unbalanced. DS is the way it is because of those hardcore tunnelers.
And again: I play both sides, I'm not trying to be entitled, don't stab me. :P

Thanks for the answers! I didn't know how it worked before.

You can't really do anything but spam the close hatch button and hope that you close it first. If the survivor gets it, they get it.
So basically when a survivor and killer both know where the hatch is and are there at the same time, the survivor will probably escape?

Could you tell me what build you run on Freddy?
And snares are usually good at corners around loops, not at the pallet itself. If you place it in front of a window, you won't get full use of it, try to place it a bit behind where you know the survivor will be coming from.
I currently don't have pop goes the weasel and thanatophobia so my build now is BBQ/NOED/Sloppy butcher/Whispers
I want to change it to BBQ/Pop goes the weasel/Sloppy butcher/thanatophobia if I have pop teachable.
Also thanks for all the helpful answers guys! Glad to see snares are good because at first I thought they were inferior!

Snares are much better.
How do you best use them? I'm not a high rank killer so I don't know how to use dream snares. I think they're best used at vaults or narrow spaces?
-
I really get what you're saying but don't care too much about the ranks in this game. It really doesn't mean anything. Just have fun!
-
Sole survivor imo.

Only new or bad players do it, especially with Bubba, he has no reason to camp now, he is really viable. Do you need any tips countering him?
Tips are always appreciated! When it's a normal Bubba playing I try to stay as much as possible near windows but it becomes tricky when he has Bamboozle.
-
@Maperson said:
I main Leatherface, but I really never camp. When I play survivor against Leatherface it only happens in the endgame which I am fine with. Pre rework Bubba did it a lot, but new on, hmm maybe 2/10, speaking just from my experience.
Damn I have some really bad luck then lol. I agree with the camping in end game. But I don't understand the game plan of facecamping the 1st hook to death.

Yes, I play him because I like the character. I was born in '72 and grew-up on Texas Chainsaw Massacre (along with the launches of Myers, Freddy, and Jason).
I prefer to run around the map with his chainsaw, personally.
That's cool. Do you find it an issue Leatherface players have a reputation to be facecampers? Because obviously not every bubba player is like this but legit 8-9/10 Bubba's I encounter facecamp at the beginning of the game. Could be my bad luck tho lol.

Survivor: We'll make it and Spine Chill (1st one cause I like playing hero and second one cause my nemesis is Myers)
Killer: BBQ (THE BLOODPOINTS)
BBQ is a very close second for me for the bloodpoints!

It happens quite a lot too...
-
It's really difficult for me to choose a main survivor, still exploring.
Atm I'm drawn the most to Jake, Quentin, Steve, Feng Min, Cheryl and Laurie.
-
What kind of dumb thread is this lol. Just a very bad play on OP's part and he blames the game for it.
Why do people care about pips in this game anyway?

Why exactly do you care what others think?
I just don't want to come over as toxic and want the game to be fun for both sides.
@HollowsGrief said:
Imagine needing this many second chances in order to escape. If someone needs this kind of combo perhaps they should consider deranking to their appropriate rank, like green or yellow. Real men run the vault build, little boys run the small PP build.
I actually am yellow rank.
-
Leatherface is one of the easiest killers in the game but not OP or something.

Exactly, the fact that he's fun to play is imo extremely important as in DBD right now there isnt alot of those killers.
I'm not good with them but if I could master them I think Oni, Plague, Demogorgon and Spirit would be considered fun for me to play as. But I get that you say some killers are boring/unfun.
-
Ok I just played as him but got stuck near that damn rock lmao.. But he feels fun if you are good with him (which I'm not)
-
I indeed never see Demogorgon as survivor!
I have him but he feels weird to play which is a shame because I like his design. Do you think a rework is possible? Since he's one of the "newer " killers. I'll try playing him after this message but probably will regret it lol.
-
I play Freddy and I can understand survivors complaining about him because he is very annoying to play against (and very good). Don't think he's actually broken tho.
I haven't faced good Deathslingers yet so can't discuss that lol.

@Nova_Terra said:
Almost every killer can be undetectable. It's really not as strong as it used to be.
Does that mean that object of obsession is mostly ignored by killers like Wraith and Ghostface?
-
Thank you all for the helpful comments!
-
I don't see why people are against this? I think it's a nice compensation and it might even reduce the DC amount.
-
@PigMainClaudette said:
It's all in how you use it. A "lot" of people these days use DS as an immunity perk to allow them to do brazen stuff in the killer's face then use Unbreakable to get around the inevitable slugging.
If you genuinely use them as an anti-tunnelling and anti-slugging perks, as intended, then there shouldn't be a problem.
Lately I was tunneled very hard and often. So I decided to buy Laurie because I think she's a nice character and DS could help against the issue of tunneling killers. I didn't even know the combo was used so much at higher ranks. I'm just rank 15 but sometimes I play with a friend who is rank 1. So offcourse when we're playing together we are against higher rank killers that down me in 30 sec max lol.
-
I filled it in based on how I feel how hard each killer is to win against as survivor when they're good. I'm curious for the results.
-
I personally think NOED is a bigger problem when it's against random survivors. There's no way of telling how many totems your teammates have done. But against SWF it's more easily countered.
-
Actually that seems like a nice sort of rework! NOED is so controversial. I admit that I more often than not run it as killer but when I'm playing survivor with a friend, we both hate NOED.
-
@Yamaoka said:
Freddy.
He's just boring to go against as the chases are basically just not interactive regardless of whether he runs snares or fake pallets.
Even stronger killers are more fun to go again (i.e. Spirit) as I always "hope" she misses with her phasewalk resulting in exciting gameplay although it can be frustrating if she lands every single phasewalk-lunge as well. Still, it's just way more interesting to go against than "red pool of movement slowdown here and there and here comes the free hit!" or "haha that pallet is not real haha! Ez outplay!"
For some reason I laughed with the last sentence imagining it in some dumb voice lol.
My least favorite killer to face is Hag. Me and my friends hate going against her. Doesn't matter if she's good or bad.
-
I agree with all except hillbilly (hate his new "cry"), leatherface (never liked him) and spirit (those sounds are just so annoying).
I think my favorites of this list would be Wraith, Oni, Trapper and Plague. You forgot to mention the "OOMPH" when Trapper steps in his own trap! :D
-
Thanks for the tip! It sucks but there will always be douchebags I guess. Only reason i stayed was because of the bloodpoints lol. Kinda funny they complained I camped in the endgame with NOED after that exploit.

Thanks for the comment! Sadly I wasn't able to record it... I just hope more people will report and bring it to the attention to the devs.
But you're right not worth the energy to take it in my own hands.
-
I play both survivor and killer and DS is an annoying perk but honestly it's not nearly as obnoxious as it used to be. It can be crutch when you get stunned with DS while the gates are open , but I also had times I unlocked the gate as survivor and 2 seconds later a NOED nurse teleported and downed me. Both sides have crutch perks in the right situations. I'm not high rank though so take my opnion with a grain of salt but that's what I think of it.
(Also buff/rework Wraith :()

I don't understand while some people on this game just love to ruin someone's mood.

This 100% lol.
Just played 2 games as killer, did nothing wrong and got insulted in Russian (offcourse because that's all those people can do).
The 2 sides constantly provoke each other so it's just an endless circle of toxicness.

For me the bloody cosmetics are worth it to be honest. It gives me a sort of "goal". I have no idea what else sort of things could be rewarded. Maybe a random cosmetic?

Yeah but if you believe tge forum shes so op it shouldnt matter. Shes that braindead easy
I don't think Spirit is braindead easy but she definitly could use some changes.
She is not very very difficult but not as braindead as Leatherface or something. She's just very strong.

I agree. He can slug you. I'm not even talking about NOED or MORI, or keys, or hatch.
What i mean is that its not fun to not be able to fully reset after being hooked. Since there's the entity for the killer, there could be a "guardian angel" force for the survivors also. Locking a circle around the survivor where the killer couldn't enter or damage survivors in it. In other hand the killer could have one or two extra perk slots reserved only for hex totems. Either to slowdown gen rush and camp/proxy camp. As it is can end the game really quickly.
What do you mean by not being able to fully reset after being hooked?
-
@DBD78 said:
"tunnel/camp without reason"
Is this a joke? You tunnel/camp to get kills, it's not something a killer just do for no reason at all. That's like saying a survivor gen rush for no reason. There is a reason for every playstyle and strategy it does not mean someone is toxic.
I even explained what I meant by that some sentences further. I even play killer mostly lmao. Your comment seems more like a joke to me. But I have better things to do then to feed trolls (although I took the bait with this comment but oh well).

I refuse to camp
If I lost I'll stand by the exit gate waiting to open it. If I hook someone during EGC I'm not standing there waiting for them to die. Don't judge a book by it's cover😁
That's really nice of you! But I almost never encounter players like you then though lol.
I think proxy camping is justified in the EGC personally (even when I'm playing survivor) but I guess it's something subjective.
-
@KillScreen said:
Sorry, i don't understand the DS hate. I play both survivor and killer, and for that i don't understand the hate on DS.
Its lovely to see killer mains on twitch complaining about DS, but when they play survivors 4 SWF they always pick the nastiest build. And they do pick DS on their build. "do as i say not what i do" mentality.
BT and DS are mandatory for me as i solo survivor. Its no fun to be tunneled or camped. Period.
Personally I don't think DS is a problem perk. I remember it was extremely obnoxious in the past but now that it requires a hook + limited time that it's active it's an anti tunnel perk but not overpowered imo. Losing a kill while the gate's open due to DS sucks but so does NOED for survivors.
-
Lmao you didn't lie! This is indeed basically what I was talking about!
-
@I_am_Negan said:
I say "without reason" because as I said earlier I play mostly killer and at times you're forced to camp (like endgame/gates 99 or open) or proxy when the survivors are legit genrushing.
You're not forced to camp you choose to camp🤣
"Forced" as in 99% chance the one on the hook gets away if you leave too much distance. You have Spirit as your profile pic so I think you know what I mean.

The wraith I agree completely(Why is "Light Burn" and the double pallet stun duration while cloaked even a thing?) with but for the Pig its both too fair and she is very RNG dependent.
The pig's ambush roar could be more delayed and it would help her out a lot sense survivors at pallets for example wouldn't instantly drop the pallet the moment they heard it.
However what keeps the pig down is her RNG as she is both too counter-able or uncounter-able with her boxes.
Survivors either instantly get them off or have their helmets nearly pop with little to no in between and given that its her main form of slowdown having survivors instantly get all of the traps off pretty much loses you the game but if they don't you pretty much win the game.
Yeah you're right. I like to play Pig but her power is indeed a matter of (mostly) RNG at the end of the day. She could use a sort of rework more than buffs maybe.
As for Plague, I think she has an interesting and unique kit and she's a mid tier. But I can easily see her become busted with the wrong buffs.
-
@Warcrafter4 said:
For the plague to be viable she needs to be less reliant on the survivor's actions.
As it stands she is TOO fair(IE too much counterplay) of a killer which makes her weak since to beat highly skilled survivors.
But I think you can say that about The Wraith and The Pig(?) as well right? I think Plague is still stronger than those two although I admit when I'm playing survivor Plague mostly isn't a huge threat. She's just a solid mid tier imo but I guess she could get some little buffs without making her a lot stronger.
-
I don't think Plague needs a buff tbh. A buff would make her obnoxious in lower ranks I think and she's already pretty good in the right hands.
