people should play both sides.i think “balanced perspecive” is the highest compliment you can give someone around here.
that being said, ive seen dozens, literally dozens, of survivormains come claim to be killer mains while advocating for killer nerfs, only to check their steam profile and see zero total players sacrificed.
May be my naivety, but I just can't wrap my head around this. Why on earth would someone try to cripple the "other" side? What's this with so many people wanting ezpz games?
If I want it easy, I play Plants Vs Zombies or something. No salt there for sure. -

What else is there to do? I don't even need shards when there is not enough cosmetics for my character.I'd suggest one thing. You probably used relatively strong perks/addons etc to get there (correct me if I'm wrong here), so maybe it's time to fool around with non-meta perks. Both killers and survivors have a number of perks which are not strong enough so they are rarely used, even though they're fun. Make some stealth builds, then make some loop builds, a genrusher build or an altruistic and experiment with them. There's a lot of variety once you got to that coveted RANK OOOOONE.
At least that's what I did. I don't belong there anyway
-
20 seconds is not the best case outcome for killer. 20 seconds is the average. You must be doing something wrong if DS annoys you so much.
SC and instaheal items are so much more dangerous to killer. It's just that so many of you guys can't deal with frustration. I wonder how you manage in life. -

@No_Mither_No_Problem New skin coming up for clown I hear: one where he's sitting in a scooter, like your typical obese Walmart customer.

@The_Fallen_Utopia I'm with you on Blood Warden. Sometimes it doesn't work out at all, but when it does... insert evil gring here
Regardless if I'm doing good or not, I LOVE those moments of drama. Especially if I get a good old teabagging-at-exit-gates, right before BW blocks their way
-
The most scared I've ever been in this game was when three bald Dwights, wearing the same red T-shirt started to follow me, surrounded me, squatted next to me doing those spooky slow head movements, like some forbidden, evil ritual from ancient times.... I swear I heard them murmuring something that sounded like a wretched and perverse hymn from the depths: "ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn".
Oh, you meant scared by killers? Nah, that's just not happening. -
In the long run, Play with your friends/Kill your friends will be the way to go. There's no way devs can effectively police all offenses, considering that it cannot be based on the report system as it's often abused by butthurt players. Relying on video evidence would require way too much time. I'd say if one day they start actually punishing DC-s at least, that will be enough. Sadly, we're not even there yet.
Just add everyone with whom you had a good game, and when you have enough friends you can have a much better gg/bg rate. That is, after you collected all those coveted achievements

-
Just add them to the useless addons list and ignore them. The Bloodweb throws a lot of items at you with no utility.
-
Actually, about 50% of the items you HAVE TO buy from the Bloodweb are garbage and they're never going to be used. For killers too: I think I have over 1K brown addons between my killers.
Them Smelly Inner Soles are piling up
If you're planning to prestige one of your survivors, just use all your items, use all your good addons and ignore the brown ones, as it would take ages to go through them with little benefit. You'll get a load of those again anyway, after you prestiged.
This is a slighty annoying feature of the leveling system for us cheap arseholes who don't want to spend a single BP on something worthless, but not a big deal if you think about it. Simply consider them steps leading to the real deal. Besides, as a survivor you don't even need addons or items to do well, so it's really not a biggie.
-
@DeadByFlashlight well, that's your way to look at it. I just don't see how a bit of flashlight blinding or teabagging can get to you so much. But I won't try to force my view on you, you do what you want (obviously).

Then you're not afk anymore - how about firing up your chainsaw and making some gaping chest wounds? But more importantly, if rank 1 games are that harrowing, and killers are unviable, then you should be able to derank simply by playing, right? If as you say, the deck is so stacked against killers you'd be down at rank 10 again in no time.
It's so bizarre to argue about it, but it's just like that: you play well, you rank up. Then you're stuck with players who are good. Challenge. Enjoy it. Just please please don't waste other people's time by DC-ing or being afk.
That would be true if the ranking system was viable and working well, reflecting the player's skills.
It's not.
Yeah ok, there are several problems with the emblem system, but it's still a good indicator, albeit imperfect. Gatekeeper and Devout are fine, I think Malicious too. It's only Chaser that's unfair to some killers.
But back to the original point: both DC-ing and being afk is unacceptable. Anyone who wants to derank: please find another way.You used to be able to derank by slugging, but this isnt possible anymore.
If you are aware of another way to derank, please tell me
How about this: don't.
Honestly, trying to derank (and posting about it on the forums!) means two things:- You want easy matches
- While you want easy matches, you still want to advertise how cool you are, having made it to high ranks.
Sorry, but it's kinda obvious.
Honestly, I dont give a ######### about your opinion about this.
I am a nice guy and even asked the survivors how they prefer it, afk or DC, survivors simply DC every game to derank.
I am simply not gonna bother playing at high lvl if the game continues to be unbalanced and the devs not doing anything about it, the next midchapter patch is a perfect example for this, once again....
So what about that alternative way to derank? Or was that just trashtalking?
Well, that was my impression. I could be wrong. But to answer your original question, I think it looks like there isn't really a way to derank without screwing with other players. Honestly: how much enjoyment would you find as survivor in a game when killer is afk? Or DC-s? Not much I imagine.
Let me ask you something though. You say on high rank the game is unbalanced. What does that mean? I mean to you, personally. I assume you don't expect to get 4K all the time, but how many 0K games? 9 out of 10? 7 out of 10? Less? I think if you get 1-2 kills in about half of your games, that's not too bad, if it's a good game otherwise.

Frankly, there are stronger survivor tools. Instaheals, for example. @Dudddd neatly listed the counters for DS, I'd just add: you can try to down survivor close to a hook. Not easy, but that's what I keep saying about all these so-called "crutch" perks: yea, some are stronger than others. Deal with it. With so many different killers, maps, RNG and so on, you can't expect some magical "perfect balance". Sometimes you go against tryhard killer/survivors, and sometimes you're facing some less effective builds. Challenge, folks, challenge. The best thing in life.
I'd add one more thing: I'm absolutely convinced that all the anger towards DS is not exactly about serious balance issues. As I said, instaheals, possibly SC and some other stuff are more of a threat to killers. But it's probably the single most annoying one. Understandable, and it's not like I'm not pissed when D-striked. But when we're seriously discussing balance issues in the forums, we should do it with a cold head. Don't listen to your anger.

I'd generally agree, craze about 4K is stupid, 3K is nice enough.
But DC is not the way to go about it. -
I actually agree with the OP. So you get D-striked once in a game. What exactly keeps you from going after the survivor and downing him again?
I feel complaining about DS is the same hapless thing as saying NOED is a crutch perk and it should not exist. There are multiple ways to counter both of these. None of them guarantees a free kill/free escape. Plus, obviously, killers need tools against survivors and survivors need tools against killers.
If you're silly enough not to expect it, then they look oooooh so broken, but with the proper play, they make little difference.
Of course, it's easier to demand nerfs/buffs instead of adapting. -
It only happened to be once, in the Spirit PTB. It's funny, but I urge all killers to have some decency and give the unlucky survivor some leeway and do not attack them right away.
-
Your title is confusing. What you mean is, if I understand correctly: "ONLY KILLERS should get map offerings". The way you phrased it suggests that killers should not receive any other offerings, only map offerings.
It's still a bad idea though, certain maps favor certain killers, sure, but survivors should also have a say in which map they play on. If nothing else, those achievements that require a certain generator on a certain map to be fixed are much harder to get if they can't use map offerings. -
@sinner 70m? You must be joking. Play killer and you'll see how the usefulness of BBQ is limited.

Damn, I was struggling with a bugged Deliverance to get that stupid Not Today achievement yesterday, so I can toss this silly perk away never to use again - and now they're gonna fix it?
Some of the other changes are welcome though. Good riddance Moon Bouquets and welcome back Saboteur :chuffed: -
They say "over time" though. I wonder if it means after some time, or simply that Chaser points gradually decrease in proportion to the time spent next to occupied hook. If it's the latter, that's a terrible idea - you start losing emblem percentage as soon as someone is up on the hook.
-
Yeah, thank you. I just noticed. Looks like a bad idea at first glance, but I'll read it more carefully.

BTW, I generally don't trust farming killers. I usually just open the gates and get out. I prefer facing the ruthless types that force me to play my best. In fact, I used to report the farmers regularly as there was a button for it.
I agree, it's a valid move. Happened to me too, I fell for it and got hooked promptly. Had a good laugh after game.
How could he "mind game you" and hook you promptly? That doesn't sound like what I encountered.
Simple, made me believe he's up to some farming, so I gave up loopin' (that was when 3 others were dead already).
Then I was chainsawed. Again, very funny. These are such precious moments of DBD: selling your teammate out when only two of you are left, hoping the killer will let you go, or as survivor, running to your last remaining teammate who is clearly hatchcamping, waiting for you to die, and creating some loud noise - "if I go down, you go down with me arsehole" :chuffed:
I find these moments of desperation, treachery, stupidity and so on hilarious. DBD ain't CS:GO (meh) or Team Fortress, there's much more to it drama-wise. Just don't take it too seriously and learn to appreciate comedic moments, even if you end up getting the short end of the stick. -

Ive thought about trying to raise a group on here to try and get it.....
Here? Are you mad? Everyone knows that people active on forum are the dregs of DBD society. Incompetent losers with no talent or ambition whatsoever, living in their mothers' basement. A most useless bunch, they are.
-
@M2Fream I just have to ask: why? 4K is significantly more difficult than 3K, as it should be. It's intended. How does the hatch in its current state make the game experience worse? It's so intense, sneaking around map, avoiding killer and desperately trying to find it before he does. And on the other side too, it's fun to hunt down that last survivors.
If you have an issue with the hatch standoff, here's my advice: let the survivor go if it's a hatch standoff, or if you're playing survivor, let the killer grab you. Problem solved, no time wasted standing idly, we can all move to our next game. That's how I see it anyways. -

Ahhh so that's how that add on works! Thanks guys. That's pretty cool tbh lol.Yeah, lately I've been fooling around with this addon. It's not the strongest addon by any means, but it I agree: it's cool indeed.
The only useful function of it I think is this: if you spawn right next to a hex totem, mark it. There's a good chance that killer's first order of business will be checking that area, so it's better not to cleanse it right away, but you can notify your fellow survivors that it's there. Alternatively, if killer's also using Thrill of the Hunt, you can signal that you started to cleanse it - hopefully they jump on the other Hex totem. Of course there's the same problem as with hook gymnastic signaling: you can't be sure your mates get it. -
@Orion said:
Some say it's just a map add-on that marks a specific location in a way that's only visible to Survivors, but I prefer to believe it's Jesus, come to save us all from the Entity.I'm pretty sure the Entity IS Jesus.
-
See there isn't really an agreement there as to which maps favor which killer (Trapper + Gideon may be the only definite exception, poor fella is in real trouble on that map).
You gotta realize, luck will always play a big role in this game. Hex totem placements? Godpallet locations? Killer is using his strongest addons or nothing? Or simply the fact killer may decide to go first exactly where you spawned or the opposite way...
And then, there's a lot of blind luck involved with maps vs which perks you are using. Some perks are great against stealth, some others are meant to counter looping. Can't pick the perfect ones if you don't know which map it's gonna be.
I don't think we should sweat it too much: we can pretend the game is based solely on skill, and getting our coveted pips is all due to our superior intellect and amazing talent, but it's often not the case.
If we wanted luck to be ruled out completely, we'd have to play chess. Unfortunately, there are no hooks in chess. -
What? No, I was talking about instant hook suicides: when someone gets pissed because he got downed early, then tries to unhook and does not struggle so he dies and moves onyou to the next game. Some people think that they only win if they survive. I personally think i've won when i've been helpful to my team.No disagreement there, but a survivor helps very little if he gets downed by a hard camping killer. Unless you're running BT, there's not much chance you can pull it off.
Can struggle till the end to give more time to other teammates instead of giving up

Oh yes, I personally hate hook suicides as much as DC-s. It's the same inability to deal with a setback, plus not wanting to lose that 934 BP.
934? How fast do you hammer that keyboard? i never get past 863.
This kind of thing equals to DC in my mind, you're pretty much screwing your team up the same. Except there's no soft ban for suicide. Since we're talking about camping here (for the 1000th time), Vietfox is right: don't try to kobe, and keep struggling. You're helping your team that way. You can get your BP/pips next game. -

New moon gives way too much advantage to stealthy survivors. I've faced some of them hide-in-plain-sight Claudettes, and it was impossible. I happen to love the stealth gamestyle, as opposed to running around in circles for an eternity, but New Moon Bouquet is just too much.
On the other hand, in some future chapter it may be a fun idea to introduce some ability or perk that has some control over lights, with are or time limitations. Just don't turn everything pitch black. -
It's usually not that hard though to decide whether killer is nearby or not if you approach with caution (Urban Evasion, the best perk ever!)
There is a danger though, many players only start signaling when their saviour is close by. Thus notifying the killer too. It's like wiggling: you gotta start it as soon as you can - you can never predict your fellow survivors' movements with certainty. -
I'm so amused.
The DBD community seems to suffer from the mental disorder known as spiritophrenia. That is, when someone is absolutely certain that the Spirit is OP, but at the same time he's also on the opinion that she is garbage.
Make up your minds, oh ye forum whiners. -
@SpaceCoconut I always found DS a minor inconvenience. Best if I down the Obsession first, and even if I'm not running Enduring, it takes a few secs to recover, then I can go ahead and down him again. Getting hit by DS 4 times a game is a slightly different story, but with the ones who are not Obsessions are not such a big deal, you can usually make it to the next hook. Just assume they all run it (if SWF), and waste no time getting to the nearest hook.
Frankly, a good looper can waste way more of your time than a one time use perk. That's much more annoying - of course that can be countered too, but in general, that's much more of a threat to a killer than DS.As for the Hatch: I really don't get all these complains about it. Some of you guys are so fixated on getting a 4K. Hatch is quite a nice idea: I like that it is quite challenging for the killer to get the last one alive. And as survivor, this is one of the most exciting parts of the game: only me and the Killer competing to find the Hatch first, lots of sneaking, lots of guessing (OMG DOES HE HAVE WHISPERS?!). And it' so much fun to watch him jealously guarding it while I 99% two generators, pop them in quick succession, then sneak to the hatch while he stumbles between the last gen and the exit gates. Stealth can be so tense.
Also: anyone, who spends more than 30 sec with a hatch standoff should get a life. Either just let the last survivor go, or go for the jump and let the killer catch you. At this point, both the killer and the last survivor most likely have secured their pip. I don't understand why anyone would waste time standing there, waiting for the other to move. -
So true, and yet, since Kindred gives an advantage to the group as opposed to the player running it, few survivors use it.
SORRY MAN THAT SLOT IS FOR WGLF! -

I still think accepting comm is the better way, just voicing my concerns here.If you want to play casually thats up to you. There are tons of overwatch players that never touched the talk button for example.
However, when you climb into higher ranks, people will being to start using voice comms.
If you dont balance the game around voice comms, then what is the killer supposed to do? Just DC?

Nah, never ever DC, that's the single action that harms the game the most for everyone.
I see a lot of SWF survivors around rank 3-2-1, but I wonder how many of those are on comm. Anyway, I kidna agree to the main point: this has to be addressed. Comm is (almost) like a free Bond, Empathy and one-way Object of Obsession.
I just wish there was a way to counter this imbalance by not hurting solo survivors too much. -

Inbuilt voice chat with limited range would help a lot. Some unfair players would stick to Discord or some other tool, but many would switch. Killer lobby dodging is not such a pain in the ears as DC-ing players or hook suiciders, but still quite annoying. On the other hand, 4 men SWF group on comm really does border cheating (it's not exactly cheating, but definitely unfair). I don't lobby dodge myself: bring it on, let's see if I can have 1 or 2K at least, but it's bad not just for killers, but for solo survivors as well, as SWF advantage is taken into account when devs balance the game, meaning if killers get buffed to have a chance against SWF it leaves soloes in a difficult spot.
It may be more convenient to just have a checkbox option for killer: allow SWF joining Y/N, and/or some indication in lobby that shows whether they are or not. -
