Monitor and Abuse is a must I think. You can see them only when they are out of you TR, so reducing it is very useful. Just have to cut the chase.
Some people recommended Insidious, so by stopping for a few sec, your TR goes away and you can see the ones that are asleep behind a wall right next to you, but it never worked out for me, so I don't know. Maybe with some infinite loop buildings. -
Oh and one more trick I experimented with somewhat successfully: using Black Box often leads your obsession to believe you're running Dying Light or maybe PWYF. So... I like using Black Box with STBFL, and pretty much ignore the obsession who in this case tends to play more immersed. Or even better, if you can get to him in time, hit/down/hook him the first, and THEN go for everyone else.
Again this didn't always worked out for me, but it's still better than running Dying Light and having five gens popped before you find him. -
Depending on addons, you can have two entirely different strategies as Freddy. Yeah you can use blocks to make transition shorter, and that may work if you want to down them and hook them as fast as possible. I've personally had more success with a sleep-em-all build, using green and yellow dress addons. Just put one to sleep and move on to the next. Gens are simply not done when 3-4 survivors are asleep and the dress addons reduce their chances for skill checks nicely. You may waste too much time looking the fourth when three are sleeping already, so you may want to start chasing them then, but the point is, you slow their progress a lot by constantly keeping them under, and just get your hits at opportune moments.
Of course, the best addon is Class Photo, especially for this tactic, so you may want to replace one dress addon with it, but I don't think any killer should rely on those expensive and rare addons.
Whatever you do, you'll have a hard time against experienced survivors with Freddy, but on the other hand, with him, your chances to prevent a hatch escape are better than with any other killer.

Most of the whining would go away if there weren't "mains", that is, if most people played both sides.

@George_Soros That sounds interesting. What other add on would you run with it? Windstorm, Swift Hunt? Or the Ghost add on I've heard has some interesting moments with the Beast add onI really like using it with the addon that has the puts Mangled on them. Add Distressing and Coulrophobia. You can just damage one after another, they take painfully long to heal up. I have been beaten with this build on large maps, but it worked for me beautifully on The Game and I'd expect good results on Coal Tower or other small maps. I also like to make use of complete invisibility when you stand still, watching them crawl around looking for me, expecting Leatherface or a Clown

Somewhat offtopic, but I think people should use more "fun builds" instead of tryhard builds. Like, most people don't expect Leatherface to have a Speed Limiter on. Sometimes you can actually hit one survivor two times with the same chainsaw charge, because once they're hit, they expect to go down and stop moving, which is hilarious.
-
At this point when I'm healed by teammate and see healing progress jumping back I always think the same thing "######### mate you can't seriously be using Autodidact". Even if you heal a lot during a game, its positive effects are so rng dependent.
The only reason to use it is to get Adept Adam. Then you can just forget about it. -
I'm surprised no one mentioned "The Beast" - Soot. What an amazing addon. We can now use a TR based build for Wraith, and at this point survivors don't expect a cloaked Wraith when they hear the heartbeat. I guess it's not a super powerful build, but it has a strong element of surprise, and it's definitely a fun one.

Guys... don't tell me you can't see how being afk screws the game up. You're just trying to find excuses. How is it better to purposefully derank so you can beat the ass of a bunch of newbies? Going against weaklings makes you happy?

@Peasant Of course, but if he refuses to play killer normally, he should just stop playing killer altogether.

Remove wiggle and space spamming. Its bad for your keyboard and requires no skill. Also its very annoying for other people who happen to be present in the room. Not everyone plays in an dedicated private game room.

Geez @Peasant don't give him ideas. Playing against an afk killer is not fun.
@DeadByFlashlight, why don't you just start playing survivor? -
Well, @DeadByFlashlight , between DC and afk, I prefer you just play Freddy.

Being afk is almost as bad. If I have 30 minutes to play some games, I don't want to run around doing gens without any excitement, like it was some tutorial.
But what do you mean "trolling killer"? You can't "troll" an afk player...All this depipping bs is ridiculous anyway. Just play your bloody game.
Queue times are ridiculous at rank 1 and the unbalance is outrageous. I dont play killer just to pull my hair out after a 4 min genrush where I cant even get to use my moris etc.
You cant troll an afk killer? Tell that the survivors that tbagg in front of me for ages, yes even aftre 30 mins when I come back they still tbagg in front of me.
If the devs would balance their bloody game and make all killers viable, not only nurse, then I will be a competitive player as I usually am in multiplayer games, but the current state of the game makes this impossible sadly
Then you're not afk anymore - how about firing up your chainsaw and making some gaping chest wounds? But more importantly, if rank 1 games are that harrowing, and killers are unviable, then you should be able to derank simply by playing, right? If as you say, the deck is so stacked against killers you'd be down at rank 10 again in no time.
It's so bizarre to argue about it, but it's just like that: you play well, you rank up. Then you're stuck with players who are good. Challenge. Enjoy it. Just please please don't waste other people's time by DC-ing or being afk. -
@2BadWaluigiTime I think you got it wrong. As long as there are 3-4 survivors alive, you are a team, working together to escape. When there's only two of you left, and there's still 1-2 generators to repair, then you're competing: who dies first? Especially against a Billy or Nurse, or simply when you got three gens in a bunch, there's little chance you survive if you're too eager to have that last one done.
Just be more stealthy than the other guy, and you'll get out. Life is a cold hearted ######### so you gotta be one too. -

Hook suicides are different. I do them sometimes. Why? Because of how your fellow survivors behave.
I see people who dc to somehow punish the killer, but (at least to me) hook suicide is the only way to not play anymore with a #########, selfish team. (which for example leads the killer to you on purpose when you already under pressure so the killer goes to you instead of them, intentionally bodyblocking you for the same reason, and other stuff. ) and i don´t do hook suicide because one of those thinks happens once, mind you.I guess... if you're blatantly working against you, then that's maybe a reason to suicide on hook. I just hope you don't count survivor mates doing generators while you're hooked as "selfish". It's not.

You would lover to meet my Wraith.^^
I got a real saltmine build for tunneling and camping.
I joke about it as "the Devs perfectly balanced killer build".
Just tunnel and camp the first victim and use Noed to get the 2nd and camp that guy again. XD
Don't forget to say "gg" after the match and just let them freak out in chat.^^See, that's the thing. Don't freak out if it happens to you. It's actually funny (almost as funny as hiding behind exit gates as Nurse's, with a NOED+Insidious troll build).
People say it's "imbalance", "abusing game mechanics", "taking the game hostage", "crutch perks" and things like that they argue against. They're just saying that though. It's LOSING what really makes people lose their [BAD WORD], so they try to find any excuse to claim that the game is somehow unfair.
-
@ForsakenM look, I appreciate the the effort that you put in your post and replies, but I still strongly disagree. Camping is NOT an abuse. You can put any number of limits and incentives, all aimed toward preventing camping, but nothing will completely eradicate it. The most basic tool of players is movement. By overregulating where they can and cannot go, you'll be limiting them to such extent that nobody is going to want to play killer.
Killers will always want to go where survivors are. If it's a hooked survivor, they'll go there, and stay there as long as they suspect someone is there.
Don't get me wrong, I used to be furious too when I got facecamped the first few times. I know where you're coming from. It sucks. But you see, I'm pretty convinced that the wish to crack down on camping even harder comes from this frustration. And it would make the game worse.
-
@ForsakenM Nonsense. Camping is part of the game. As it's been said a million times by a million players. 99% of the time camping first hook is a bad strategy anyway. Also, your proposition mostly ignores the not-so-rare event when the other three survivors just swarm the hooked guy instead of doing gens. I know you addressed this partially by pausing timer while in a chase, but that does not necessarily happen every time when other survs hookrush.
Do the math: ok, being camped is not fun, I agree there. But. That's one person not having fun, and three others who can actually do something productive, pop 3-4 gens, and completely screw the killer who is facecamping: in short, possibly having a good game. The other issue is that often when exit gates are powered or already opened, and there's still four survs, one of them hooked, then the prudent course of action is usually to camp the one who is hooked. If the game were designed in a way that rewards camping, then it would be boring for killer and frustrating for survivors. But it is not the case. There are PLENTY of mechanics built in to prevent camping from becoming a winning strategy, also there's a significant difference in BP gains, in favor of less camping. Same goes for tunneling btw (just think of BBQ, that's clearly designed against tunneling). Do you think adding more elements that discourage camping would keep that small number of hard camping killers from playing their way? I doubt it. Your suggestion would punish good players too whenever they camp, and that would be unfair. Because as a killer, sometimes camping is necessary.

Enough are that its not fun to play against them. I'm not gonna play a game if I'm unable to enjoy it
Btw. I've just played a game against four swf players. There was some teabagging and flashlight spamming. Not a lot, and mostly just when they wanted to lure me away from the one on the hook. Got like 4-6 hooks, zero kills, no ranking down or up, and guess what: we had a nice little chat and the well meaning "gl hf" in the end. It was a fun game for all of us. As it happens most of the time if I don't assume every survivor plays with the intent to make my life miserable.
-
Ludicrous. I very often have a nice and polite/funny chat with the opposing side after a game, whichever role I play and regardless of outcome. Just quit if you don't like it. Really, it's just a ragepost.The_Daydreamer said:Short thing short: Remove the afterchat, cause no one needs it. People just blame the others for #########.
And nerf swf. If the killer play against swf, the repairingspeed of all survivors are reduced by 25%.
Swf ruining the balance of the game makes some sense, I think everyone agrees voice chat is an unfair advantage, but it's not like it's impossible to beat an swf team of four, it's just much more difficult. But that's the way a lot of survivors like to play, at this point it would be hard to remove this option. I'd suggest giving a checkbox to killer hosts to allow/disallow swf groups to join. Would save some time that's lost due to lobby dodges too. -

Dead Hard and survivor doing 360-s: two typical cases when I usually line up a normal hit. And they're not rare at all. So no, I happen to disagree.

My rules:
1/ Remind myself at start not to be lured into an endless chase by that Legacy Dwight with purple flashlight
2/ Get lured into an endless chase by that Legacy Dwight with purple flashlight until all the gens are done
3/ Go hide in the basement and make myself a cup of tea while they are endlessly vaulting over that pallet near exit. -
Umm. Look. They have their own ideas though. I mean... making stuff up is the easiest part. You know how many of us have these revolutionary ideas, inventive new perks, ideas for new killer/survivor/map...
Implementing those, that's the real work. Most of us actually don't know how to do that.
Sorry, I know I'm a downer, but am I wrong here? -

I'd guess saying BHVR supports DC is downright crazy. Sure they don't punish teabagging and other stuff that's considered "toxic" by some (whatever "toxic" means), bu they're clearly against DC-s. That said, I'm completely for a MUCH harsher punishment system for disconnecting, I've also had sometimes 8-9 games with at least one DC in a row. No excuse for that, be it "tunneling" or some other made up rationalization. We need many players for dbd of course, to keep lobby waiting time to a minimal, but we don't need those idiots who can't deal with being downed.
I'm a little sidetracked here, but I also gotta say, survivors should also receive at least a slight bonus BP- or pipwise when another survivor DC-s early on.
You mentioned jendenise: I'm not 100% sure, but I think she only disconnects around the end of the game, which does not make a lot of difference. Maybe someone can confirm it; but if this is the case, then it's an entirely different story.I know for a fact that BHVR does not care to actually punish DC'ers. Some people know exactly how manygames they can DC without repercussion, and they abuse it - DC x number of games, then play bad in a few more to avoid ranking up, DC more when its safe, repeat. They game the system and its obvious. I know one streamer that does it regularly and there's a BHVR employee who is a huge fan of his and is one of his top donators.
I still have my doubts, but if it's as you say, that's a huge disappointment. Really, DC-s (and I'd say suicides on first hooks are the same category) are worse than any amount of teabagging, flashlight spamming, tunneling, camping, worse even than obscenities thrown at you in aftergame chat. Nevermind balancing, nerfs and buffs, tweaks to improve rank system and all that: THIS has to be fixed.
Devs, if you're reading this. Please. -
To the original post: I think it's meant to reflect reality. As Platon said so wisely, women are capable of everything that men do, just worse in every aspect. There's still a role for women of course (as our Creator loves all His children), but they must know their place: as obedient daughters, faithful wives and dutiful mothers.
Think about it: women are more prone to sin. Without the guidance of a strong, wise man, a woman is like a lost child, blindly stumbling in the darkness, and they often stray from the path of virtue.
This is why Huntress has only 110% movement speed. Obviously. -
I love playing against Pig. I know it sounds crazy, but I have so much fun removing them RBT-s, although I find it really bad manners when I'm attacked while at it.
I hate going against a skilled Billy or Nurse, but the worst is the Doctor. Those of you who prefer stealth to looping feel my pain, I'm sure. -
There's a perk already aimed at putting the Exposed status effect on the Obsession, so... I don't think so.
Besides, Save The Best For Last is actually a damn good perk as it is - not OP in any sense, but a great help. See no point in touching it. -
Hook sabotage is still viable though, if you're smart about it and go around important locations, preferrably close to clustered generators, and 99% sabo all the hooks around it.
I wasn't around back before hook respawn was put in place, but I believe those older players who say it was OP and killers were often forced to slug everyone.
Although 5% seems reasonable, I don't see the point in adding a random factor to the game - generally using RNG to certain events shifts the game towards a more luck-based than skill-based direction. I don't think it's a good idea in general. -
@Swiftblade131 my max LF mass murder is only three, but it was very satisfying.
I'd say my best moments were: once I lured a survivor into a bear trap two steps away from open hatch (all hail Tar Bottle
)
And every time when Blood Warden turns a 1K into a 4K. Sometimes it does not work out, but when it does I'm sooooo overjoyed. Especially when some of them are those teabag-at-exit-gate type of manchild.
Ah, and there was that moment too when I got my From The Void She Kills achievement. Very unexpected too: I suck with Nurse... but that David was so intent on cleansing my ToTH totem :chuffed: -
Umm... not sure bigger success zones would be worth it. I mean, the real challenge is hitting those damn Great Skill Check (or Hex Skill Check) zones. Good Skill Checks are easy to hit to begin with.
-
Cats, without question. Elegance, pride, grace, beauty... dogs have very little of these. The only way to make a dog likeable is through strict training, but still... dogs are peasants. Cats are nobility.

Most of the time, unless hooks are very close or very far from where you're picked up, the predictable outcome is the same: you won't (and you shouldn't) wiggle out by default, but you almost certainly will, if there are 1-2 other survivors doing the bodyblocking. So wiggling is fine as it is in my opinion.
Please consider that when facing skilled loopers, even a good killer may need a painfully long time to down one. Add faster wiggling to that, and you'll see way more 0K games than now.
Also, as said by someone else, 90% of killers using Iron Grip is a wild exaggeration. There are much better perks. I'd say 20%, tops, from rank 15-1.
I suggest either improving your looping/juking skills, or even better, stealth. And in case you don't, I'd recommend playing both sides, there's a chance you'll agree if you see how your proposed wiggle buff would effect killers. Cheers. -

I agree Autodidact is basically useless in its current state - actually does more harm than good. I like OP's suggestions, except self-heal. Applying it to SC/medkit self-heal would make it too strong. Mostly, the numbers must be fixed. That should be enough.

Rancor is pretty weak already. Killer doesn't see WHICH WAY survs go, unlike when using Bitter M or BBQ. And you have to be VERY unlucky (or silly) to be caught after the fifth gen.
So many players still can't see that the most reliable protection against killer is still stealth.
Rancor is fine as it is, far from being OP. -
The most realistic solution I think would be to grant a slight BP and perhaps pip bonus after a game when you faced much higher ranks than yours.
