  • Too complicated, also short on the reality factor (I know it's not a priority, but still). If it was up to me, I'd just reward the first escape with an extra 1000 BP, and maybe 700 and 400 the ones that follow.
  • im getting tired of stacking 1m bloodpoints and then having to spend them and regaining them, it's been like this for 5 days

Now that's a first world problem if I've ever seen one.
  • Funny, considering all you have to do is to play immersed for a while if you are the Obsession and killer is running Rancor. Nothing's easier than that, once all generators are done.
On the other hand, a DC at the end of the game is nowhere near as annoying as early on. It's much worse when someone DC-s at first down or first hook. When I'm feeling nice, I let the others farm a bit in this case, but that's not much fun. I just can't understand why some people are basically willing to ruin FOUR other people's game. DC-s should be punished more harshly, and I don't see it happening.

No, I don't mean it should grant a free escape any time, but I'd say a slight buff is in order.

Why do you think it needs a buff? Mentioning that you've never escaped with it just makes it look like you think it should guarantee an escape.

No. "Free escape every time", you said, that's a 100%. I wouldn't want that, would be unbalanced obviously. I said I NEVER, not once managed to wiggle out because of Boil Over, not even when killer wasn't running Iron Grasp or Agitation. That's 0%. Maybe others have different opinions, I'm open to that, but from what I've seen, in its current state it's a rather useless perk unfortunately.
Possibly, for very inexperienced killers, the effect that prevents them from seeing nearby hook auras may be a problem, but I don't think that's a real issue over, say, 10 hours of gameplay.

I ask you again, why do you think it needs a buff? We already have a "free escape" perk, it's called Decisive Strike. Boil Over can be useful under certain circumstances, but it's not supposed to guarantee a free escape by itself.

I'm sorry, I can't put it in more simple words.

You say you think it needs a buff, but not because it doesn't guarantee a free escape. However, all you can say is that you've never escaped with its effects (something it's not supposed to do in the first place). It's not that you can't put it simply, it's that the way you're putting it contradicts what you claim you're not trying to say.

You really cannot see anything between ALWAYS and NEVER? If it helps you escape, say, 20% of the time, then it's worth a perk slot. I keep repeating, I'm not talking about a "free escape", like a DS that can be used infinite times.
But I can try another approach: how many survivors do you see running it? Maybe 2%? And how many rank 5-1 players? Like, 0,5%?

It can help you escape 20% of the time, if you use it properly and get lucky. You need to lead the chase to a place you know is far from hooks (either because they were used or otherwise destroyed), and hope you get lucky with how the Killer sways or that your team blocks the Killer for you. It's a situational perk, which is why it's considered bad.
Most perks that Survivors use (their stale meta, for instance) need to have massive, instantaneous benefits or they're deemed "useless". Boil Over requires preparation, thought, and has a relatively high chance of failure except under ideal circumstances, so it's automatically "trash tier". It doesn't need a buff; Survivors just need to be mindful of how to use it.

I do see it from time to time, but mind that I'm playing at low rank. I'd guess something like 5%, but then I'm not very good at estimating from memory, so take that with a grain of salt.

Well ok, I guess I agree with the argument that it's situational. On the rare occasion I run Saboteur I may consider using it. May even be better than one time use perks, DS or Unbreakable. Maybe I'll try it one day.
Anyhow, I think I get yout point: having a precious handful of all-around perks on both sides which you basically HAVE TO run if you want to play effectively is killing diversity.

  • Agree about ping, but killers would still abuse this option. Sorry, dbd heavily relies on random matchmaking, as it should. The best solution to highpingers who don't leave would be a button to send them an auto-message "buddy please leave, your ping is way too high".
Or maybe killer could set a max number over which ready button would be inactive for survivors.
  • I think inbuilt voice chat has a lot of potential, but it's true that there are several ways to abuse it, see examples above. It would be awesome to listen in survivors' chatter, but I'm afraid with so many downsides, it would need such a huge amount of testing that we cannot reasonably expect to have it implemented in a new chapter.
    Maybe DBD 2.
  • Sprint Burst, Dead Hard, Balanced Landing and Lithe.
  • The suspense is killing us! If it's not out soon, we might have to resort to RL activities as replacement.
I fully expect an increased number of lunatics on streets and in public parks, throwing pebbles at random people.

  • Freddy is a lot of fun to play exactly because he's so different. I get slaughtered by survivors most of the time above rank 12-10 (maybe except when using his best addons), so I don' use him anymore. But whatever buff he's about to get, I hope it doesn't change the general nature of his power. It makes him unique. The cool thing about DBD is that you have to use very different approaches depending on what killer you're playing (or playing against).

  • Ok @M2Fream , I get you. It's just my aversion to complaints in general I guess.
Still, I see no point in going into such detail about one's ideas in the deafening ruckus that this forum is. Again, just my opinion.

Teabagging is ok though. It pisses me off, but that's the point. And honestly, even a few "F*** you" after the game is manageable. Just move on to your next game.
I think the best advice above is don't report everything you dislike. Camping, tunneling, looping, teabagging, flashlights, sabotage... these are all parts of the game. Deal with it. Cheating, lagswitching, and I guess at least the most extreme trash talk, yeah these are the things we have to get rid off, but they are actually not that common.
DC-s (and hook suicides): this is the big one I think. Really, if you can't bear defeat, just go play some single player game.

I can tolerate T-Bagging and understand it's purpose, but one survivor constantly t-bagging everyone and openly and directly insulting one or more players after a trial is intolerable if it becomes a habit. Key point: Malicious acts becoming a habit.

As long as they play the game more or less seriously, I'd say they can teabag all they want. When it's ALL they do, then they don't really participate in the game, potetially ruining FOUR other people's game. Now that's a real problem in my opinion.
As for insults: please keep in mind that verbal abuse is not real abuse. But if we want to maintain a healthy number of players, I completely agree we have to root out the most obnoxious ones. Old veterans don't mind much, but for new players it can be tough when insulted after a defeat.

I gotta say though, more depends on us than on the devs (I mean us decent folks :) ): say gg and give a few friendly and useful tips to the newbie who you've just slaughtered. They will appreciate it.

  • Teabagging is ok though. It pisses me off, but that's the point. And honestly, even a few "F*** you" after game is manageable. Just move on to your next game.

  • First: nothing, for now, Dbd still has a lot of potential. Keep making them new chapters, I'll buy them for real money, promise.
In a possible sequel though, I'd love to see a solution for SWF: inbuilt voice chat for survivors, but limited to the ones within short distance.
And make killers able to hear them too, if within distance. Would be a lot of fun to do a little eavesdropping with Wraith/Shape types. Maybe even perks that enhance volume.
  • Another painfully detailed demand from an unhappy customer who thinks his great ideas will save the game; while having no teal idea how to actually create something (eg. programming). Nothing new.
I agree with broken key being useless though. I HATE spending BP on it. But @M2Fream , please don't start your discussion with "remove broken key". What are the devs supposed to reply? "Yes Sir"?

  • I can understand the expectations, I personally can't wait to play with the new killer (and the new Wraith!), but all this fuss is pointless. If it comes a week or two later, fine - hopefully they weed out a few more bugs.

Frankly, although I generally like the DBD community, it shows how accustomed we are to companies bending backwards to please customers in our age. As soon as (some) players realized they can voice their opinion, and the developer team actually cares about the product and they continuosly tweak and balance and rebalance, a flood of demands engulfed the forums "nerf this" "buff that" "ban this kind of behaviour" "implement these changes I'm proposing at once"...
    Are we all spoilt brats?

Also, the answer "Soon" is just hilarious.

    Agreed.

  • I'm not sure about all of this. I'd say we definitely need a perk or just some basic mechanics that rewards extra bloodpoints for leaving first, and possibly a higher amount if leaving while someone is hooked/downed.

  • Yeah well, devs have a gazillion requests, ranging from polite suggestions to hysterical demands. I'm guessing Deliverance is going to stay as it is in the PTB. Which is okay; not all perks have to be OP or meta, diversity is more important.

  • @Scruffigus totally agree there. I believe there's more of the kind of players you described here, we're just a little more tuned to remember the toxic ones. With some conscious effort, it's possible to ignore those and enjoy the games with the ones who are nice.

  • I agree. Deliverance is just too limited this way. If you're the first person to get hooked, that's a wasted perk slot. If you're in no position to safely rescue someone, wasted perk slot. If killer is camping, again, not much point.
Maybe there's something we don't consider, but it very much seems a weak perk in its current state. It's still PTB though, so who knows.

Lol yes definitely, that's one of the main reasons this game doesn't get boring to me.

I just wish more survivors were... civil.
Instead of teabagging by the exit gate and purposefully waiting waayy after the gates have been opened to leave, just PLEASE get out lol.
Simply leave when you know all 4 are obviously going to escape.... There's no need to waste the killer's time because you're elated you smurfed a noob killer. ಥ‿ಥ

God I hate that too. I understand waiting at exit area when someone is still on the map, possibly needing saving, but purposefully wasting my time... I can't wait till some of these survivors have children. Then their timewasting days will be over!
On the other hand, a bit of teabagging is okay. If we lose, we have to accept some humiliation. This is Nature's way, no point lamenting about it. Pisses me off, but if I lose, I deserve it.

How do you expect to get good at the game? you’re eventually going to play high rank players who out think you , just means you have to start thinking logical ( get in the survivor mind) out think them.

As a rank 12 survivor (not too bad I guess) I can easily say playing killer and playing survivor are pretty close to being two different games entirely. Killer is slightly more difficult in my opinion.
While I do agree that playing killer with the higher ranked survivors will make you a better player, I think rank 18 killers can easily get discouraged when faced with 3/4 survivors that are under rank 15, which is where you start to de-pip, meaning by then you should pretty much know a good bit of things about the game compared to a rank 18 killer.

THEY ARE WEAK!!! IT'S EVERYONE'S DUTY TO CULL THE USELESS AND COWARDLY.
Yes I'm using caps for dramatic effect. But more seriously, when it comes to innocent newbies, I find it a better way to slaughter them all, then be nice and polite to them in endgame chat, give them a few useful tips, and DON'T BE CONDESCENDING (that's very important).
A lot of folks appreciate the humor factor of DBD, even in a lost match. I know I had countless games where I got hunted down and murdered in the most gruesome way, and had a lot of fun regardless.

  • Yea Dudddd has a good point there I think. Playing against higher rank players is useful, and so is playing as survivor sometimes. You don't have to win all the time. You don't want it to be too easy now, do you?

  • If it's any consolation, I'm sure sooner or later some awesome skins will come out for her. Giving more coverage to make the prudes happy :)
But really, it's not a problem at all. A nice kimono would look better actually, but some partial nudity - it's completely ok.
And, as someone said above: how on can you think that partly uncovered breasts and buttocks should be taboo, but insane gore and violence not??? Don't want to be mean, but it doesn't make sense. Please think it over. No offense meant, and have fun playing.

First off, it's not as anyone is forcing you to buy her/play her. Just don't play her then, problem solved.
Second: sure, criticize it if you feel she's not quite up there, but you can't possibly think repeatedly saying "she sucks" without some supporting arguments is productive. Maybe she'll get some tweaks. Maybe she won't. In the end, it's not up to any of us personally. It's up to the devs. Get over it.

So, if we would criticize her after the PTB, would you accept it, or just, like others, say "It is too soon, she has been out for 1 month only, git gut stop cryin'"?

Without supporting arguments? Really? Go check other threads.

I was replying to your starting post here. And it's anything but productive.
I'm not even saying wait out the end of PTB period. This is exactly the time to list the issues with the new chapter. So if you have detailed observation somewhere else, that's cool.
But this: "Just give her time, learn how to play her, she is not low tier, she is top tier. I dunno, play another 2 years, she is fine." It's nothing. Just spam.

I don't mean to be mean, but I can't help wondering: all the people who complain about toxicity and being bullied IN A GAME... what do you guys do in a RL conflict? I mean, someone starts throwing insults at you at a bar? Report them to... whom, the bartender? Someone says nasty things to your girlfriend? If you had some idea how REAL bullying or REAL violence works, you would not give a damn about "toxic" players in a virtual environment. I know I sound like some old dustfart (which I am) but the X/Y generation is so weak... it's worrying me. Just learn how to punch someone in the face or how it feels to be punched in the face, and you won't give a toss about "bullying" in a game.

    I don't get bullied IRL.
And no one will come and told me to kill myself in a regular basis, especially without facing consequences.

If someone do whatever you have enumerate, i perfectly know what to do and will not go into detail on how since it will be used against me sooner or later as an "argument" (lul).

I'm a an adult, who now how to defend himself, thank you for your "concern".

I just don't like bathing in my own "dirt" and enjoy toxic behavior in general.

Even less in a supposed adult rated game that i paid and love.

There is always toxicity and there will always be.

But games usualy try to minimize it, and no endorse it like it was the case.

Also this generation X/Y you are talking about also tend to reverse values and glorify bad behaviors on the web.
Not everyone of course, but there is a trend since a long time now.

    Coincidence ?

Let me just say I didn't mean some poorly concealed insult by implying that you're one of them mindless youngsters. Sorry if this is how it came through.
I just don't get it why is so called "toxic" behaviour is such a big deal, either in games or social media, etc. What's the worse that could happen there? Bad words? Teabagging? Flashlight spamming at the exit gate? Such trifles. I'm not saying it's a good thing, but seems so insignificant. I just wish people, young and adult alike learned how to return insults with more something more painful, verbally or otherwise. Principles like "don't feed the troll" or "be nice to each other" just don't work.

  • Not me but a last survivor I was playing against as Trapper. It was a hatch standoff, which I usually break by moving away and letting them have it - don't wanna waste my time for that 4th kill.
But in this case I was using the darkest trap addon, and there was a trap nearby, which I placed long before hatch even spawned... and it was in tall grass. The setup looked somehow like this:
    ME ____ HATCH ____ SURVIVOR ____ TRAP
Took a while, but we danced around so he was finally between me and the trap. I moved away a bit, just enough to make him believe he can make it if he runs for the hatch. And he could have :)
    If only...

EDIT: But you know what, I try to give you a serious answer instead of trying to piss you off. I'd honestly like to see if you agree or disagree. Let's say devs somehow limit the advantage of SWF, nerf DS and SC and do some other things to make the game easier for killers. Question is, would that be good? I really mean it: if the game were made easier for either role, it would do a disservice for everyone. Cheap victories are not satisfying. That's why I oppose such changes. I'd rather have my 1K or 2K at the end of a difficult game than cut through all four survivors like butter because of their perks or other game mechanics have been weakened.
At least that's how I see it. But please tell me if you think I'm wrong somehow.

Just saw this, you've made an effort, so i will do :

I play this game since his release, i've gone throught all the shits it has to give since then.

I'm far from being the best player out there, but i saw the whole evolution of this game.

Squads with 4 times instant DS, good ol' infinites, window vaccum,... the list goes on.

Do you really think that i want to be handled/spoonfed the victory ?

We veteran killers are used to make the better of the few we have, while survivors got second chance after second chance, for the reason that "They're the majority, it has to be way easier".

I just want to start an high rank lobby without playing a boring meta killer and without knowing that if the survivors don't goof around i can't mechanicaly win. A FAIR chance.

I don't want a game that consist at running in circle 80% of the time. It wasn't always the case, i'm still sad of the time where the devs made it possible in October 2016.

I want to work for my kill, but the survivor should also work for his win, that's not the case.

I know that the killer role is harder at his core, but the gap between both role should never have been this huge.

The toxicity in this game come mostly from his imbalance, it shouldn't be forgeted.

Looks like there are some points we agree on: I also think making non-meta killers more viable is crucial (although again: score a 3K or 4K with a "weak" killer once in a while feels real good, exactly because it's hard to get there).
I hate nearly endless loops too, and I don't necessarily find it a satisfying solution to take up all slots with antiloop perks. The game should be more about stealth, less about running in circles.
As for majority/minority question: I firmly believe that the devs HAVE TO keep the balance somewhere around 1,8K/match. Why do I think that? The game needs players, otherwise it's dead. And it needs almost four times as many survivors than killers. So, since people don't like to lose too often they HAVE TO keep it a little unbalanced in favor of survivors, which is okay, even if it's hard sometimes, especially if one is too sensitive to teabagging. Which we shouldn't be, but I admit it took me quite a while to learn how to let it go. Balancing things slightly in survivors favor is not ideal, but I don't think devs have a choice here.
The biggest issue I believe is not DS, SC (all can be countered to some extent), but SWF. Being on comm is such a huge advantage that solo survivor groups cannot match. So devs can either make killers generally stronger, thus crippling solo survs, or leave things as they are and so giving SWF groups a much easier time. I don't mind most difficulties, but constant communication among survivors seems unfair even to me.
I do have one idea to limit it (I should probably post it on some "ideas" subforum but whatever). Similar to some other games (L4D2 for example), DBD should also have its own inbuilt voice chat, for survivors. With one limitation though: they can only speak to and hear each other, if within a certain distance (a few meters I guess). Reality wise and gameplay wise it would be a great improvement, would cut out the chance to "monitor" the killer by one while the rest is doing gens.
Some SWF groups would continue using Discord or whatever of course. But I see a chance at least that many of them would appreciate a limited, but still useful, and more fair way to communicate. In my experience, most survivors are NOT a**holes.

You're probably assuming I play survivor, which I rarely do. It's just silly when people want things too easy. Most of Vietfox's list is actually something crybaby killers have been asking for, which is quite ridiculous. Nothing wrong with DS, hatch, SC. SWF is tough for a killer but one can adjust.
And while insults are stupid and sad, trolling people who deserve it IS a lot of fun. It's also good for their character.

Would be amazing and all... if it was remotely true.

    It's not.

I always see the same scrubvivors (playing it or not doesn't matter, it became a mindset a long time ago) trolling here on a regular basis.

    On EVERY thread.

No matter if it's a crying one or a well writed feedback.

You are all just here to troll, like on every DBD forum.

Just a slight correction: I'm not here to troll. I'm here to troll YOU.

    Here we are.

The reason why this community will always be toxic ,In-game and on all forums.

    Thanks to toxic scrubvivors.

Easy to act all smug and saying trollish non-sense ("Everything it's fine, they're just crybaby huur duur")

While playing the EASY side of the game.

    Some respectable "people", yeah...

What happened to all of those? There were supposed to be reworks but nothing happens?

I hear there is no hatch, no DS and no SC in Minecraft. Just an idea.

    1 - remove the hatch
    2 - nerf ds, sc
    3 - nerf looping
4 - make other killers as powerful as (or close to) the nurse.
5 - make gens to take longer to repair (or gather pieces to repair them)
    6 - remove SWF
Don't you see a big flaw if all of these ideas became real?
I personally find it funny when someone asks for all this and yet makes fun of survivors by saying they want ez matches.
PS: feel free to add more of these suggestions if you think they have been proposed often.
Disclaimer: i've already said that swf needs a especial treatment and some small tweaks would be needed in the game.
I may be too optimistic, but as far as I can tell, it's only a loud minority of crybabies among killers who keep pushing these. Surv mains too have a number of such ppl among them. I don't think most players are extremely whiny - it's just the ones who are spam forums full of their salty nonsense.
Which gives us a great opportunity to troll them, and who would pass up such fun :)

Can we please rework or just get rid of these add ons?
I do not want to waste bloodpoints on useless items that I will for sure never use.
Killer are not powerful enough to cripple themselves with this.
No add on have such a huge drawback to use in the first place.

Wolf74: not sure about padded jaws, but speed limiter is simply amazing. If you're not hellbent on getting that 4K every match, it's a huge amount of fun: catching up to survivors, chainsawing them, and watching them stumbling aimlessly for a few seconds until they realize they're not down. I swear I can see the astonishment on those little Claudette faces. "What the hell???? He's using a speed limiter? Is he mad?"
The BP bonus is not that great. But it's okay. It's still the most devious thing in the whole game.
  • Well, DbD had two major problems, and this chapter fixes only one. You can throw pebbles at killers, which is a godsend. But we still need to make killers able to teabag.
    Sigh. Maybe the next chapter.
  • I very much like playing the Nightmare, despite (or because of) his weakness: twice the challenge, twice the satisfaction! And people out there who keep demanding a buff for him seem to forget one thing: although he's probably the one killer with the most 0K games, he also has great potential for turning a 2K into a 4K. Without Deerstalker or other perks, it's very hard for a killer to get the fourth survivor when the third one gets his/her final hook. But not Freddy. With him, it's a stroll on the beach. Aside for some minor changes (like making it harder to use SC to wake up), I don't think it's a good idea to do a complete rework on him.
If there's a real unanimous view that he needs some stronger buffs, I think some penalty for being repeatedly pulled into the Dream World may be ok, similar to what you suggested here; but I'd say Exposed is way too much. MAYBE with some pink addon, but not by default.
Some killers are just weaker than others. Instead of asking for buffs, enjoy the occasional success with those ones.
    That's just my opinion though.
