Have you ever heard of the no heal meta?
A survivor healing in a corner with self care for 32-40 seconds gave you all the pressure you need.
As a killer, 4 self care and 4 flashlights are better than built in hex: ruin. I would take that over 4 toolboxes.
Yes, and i love it when survivors don't heal. That makes it so much easier to end chases fast, because most survivors overestimate their ability to abuse a loop and take a hit (usually while vaulting or trying to Dead Hard). Them NOT healing is like having four people with No Mither minus the benefits of that perk. I'll take that with any item configuration, any day of the week.

If you're using SC, you're healing at a slow rate and wasting a lot of time doing so. It's faster to find a teammate to heal you or heal with a med-kit. You're still getting pressure 'cause that's time they're not on a gen.
Any time the killer gains is negated by the efficiency of not having to find a teammate and take them off a gen as well, which also reduces the chances that a Killer will find multiple survivors at a gen and initiate a chase that also takes two people off a gen and potentiallly leads to it getting kicked and progress reset. Every SC in play is an overall net gain for survivors, and it adds up fast. Stack it on top of Decisive Strike and/or Borrowed Time + Flashlights or Medkits and its a lose-lose situation for a Killer where even slugging won't help.

I can't understand how Self Care is frustrating to go against.
The ability to just run to a corner and heal infinitely negates any and all pressure a Killer applied in chasing and hitting you. Instead of having to find a teammate or use a medkit, you just lol off to a hidey hole and heal. Plus it enables startegies like hook cycling; zerg the hook, and just take hit and heal so that a fresh person can always run in and bodyblock while you chase one. Add in flashlights and it gets even worse; it's the extra factor in the equation that can make it impossible to win unless you have a reliable instadown like on Myers, Leatherface or Billy

It's why I'm not toxic towards people. You need to be the change you want to see in the world. I want everyone to have a good experience. I usually compliment the killer if I thought they did well. I also stand up for the killer if I feel the other survivors are being unreasonable.
It just kinda feels like the trolls who went to lower ranks (15~20) to bully killers have also made their way to the killers ranks and a lot of people are just on edge or out to be mean and stuff. I think it's to protest the Emblem system, personally. I hadn't seen nearly as much before then. It certainly doesn't help that killer hasn't been given a natural prolonging to the game to make it less stressful, though, like with extra gen time or additional (mandatory) objectives. I've seen people give really good suggestions to balance. I hope they incorporate some of it, at least.
Nah, even when pipping was point-based survivors were toxic little trolls. Back then i would often go out of my way to make sure i dragged the game out to max every survivor's points in every category so they could pip, but they rarely were willing to return the favor. Its not the emblem system or any other excuse; they're just used to being the entitled elite masses who should never lose.
Edit: They acted the exact same way during the Victory Cube days, too. I actually liked the victory cube; it had clear win conditions: KIll two survivors, you won and pip. Now we have this uncertain BS where the Killer can do their job perfectly and barely black pip.

People are just being more and more salty and toxic. The most it felt like you got before was campers, but it feels like more and more trolls are sticking to DbD and making games miserable. It's like how killer mains say (I think?). Enjoy the salt. Feed off of it.
A lot of killers assume everyone they face is a toxic SWF, too. Especially bad ones 'cause it couldn't possibly be them.
When all you encounter is toxicity you expect nothing but toxicity. The fact is that any Killer who plays efficiently and wins is going to get flamed, insulted and threatened more often than not. The rare few times people are good sports don't make up for the majority of times when people are pricks, so you assume every survivor group are salty little jerks and since you can't talk to them in the lobby you never know beforehand.

I've seen Borrowed Time and Decisive Strike be used more often to hook rush than I've seen them used against campers. Regardless, I was just listing possible sources of frustration.
Exactly. BT and DS do nothing to combat camping or tunneling, they just get used to zerg rush the hook and make any hook you get worthless.

Imagine him being able to throw his chainsaw at survivors for an AoE instadown. It can be picked back up. If it disappears you can find another in a locker.
That's dumb and does not fit Leatherface at all.

I play LF often because he's just like a cannonball being fired at survivors when I succeed but too often the cannonball just bounces off of Megs head.
I get a lot of flak for enjoying him and playing him in red ranks (Especially when I win) but he actually is a great Killer to play when you've had enough of Survivors' crap and want to bring the pain.

The Emblem System is terrible. We need to go to simple kill-based and escape-based pipping. This emblem BS is needlessly complicated.

It was nice of you to give them the hatch. That is something almost never seen anymore.
I really don’t play the game much at all anymore, but wearing legacy and a Twitch shirt generally puts a target on your back.
It goes both ways. It isn’t just streamers. A lot of people in this community are not fun to play or interact with.
If you block someone for beating you in a game, you are an entitled little #########. Period, and the end. Grow some ######### balls and learn sportsmanship.
-
Leatherface doesn't need a rework, he needs to have the numbers on his ability tweaked so that he can charge faster and gets a bit more acceleration baseline. LF is amazing with charge time reduction and acceleration addons, but without them his saw is useless on most maps. I say this as someone who has him as my secon most-played Killer after Shape; a rework would both ruin his fantasy and make him either overpowered, underpowered, or just another M1 Killer.
-
I get your point, OP. Try to be nice and make the community better and you just get attacked by some no-skill douchebag with two viewers, and the worst part is they never realize how unskilled they are and immediately accuse you of sniping them.

The same reason why killers have:
Corrupted Intervention.
Pop Goes the Weasel.
Thrilling Tremors.
Hex:Ruin.
Thanataphobia.
To stop survivor progress, especially on gens.
Survivors have DS, Insta-Heals, etc to stall the Killer's Objective just like killers have many tools they use to stall the progress of survivors.
None of that, on either side, literally forces a player to only play one specific way. A 'solution' for tunneling and camping would essentially force killers to ignore hooks and give guaranteed safe unhooks, and make it so you could not target the most vulnerable opponent. It would force killers to play in a counterintuitive way and consequently create a lot of no-win situations, especially when survivors realize this and figure out that they can just unhook any time with no chance of consequences.
Think about the ramifications of this, and i mean really think about what it would look like in-game. The only way to stop tunneling and camping entirely is to just flat-out punish the Killer for playing the game. That would be bad for everyone.
-
@xmidnitejokerx said:
Something to stop facecampers = teammates do gens and killer literally throws the game.
Something to stop tunnelers = DS
Killer slugs you for 60 seconds= each teammate can basically complete a generator/or they have 60 seconds to run up to you and tap the heal interaction for 2 seconds to pick you up.
No there’s nothing they can do to stop people from playing like #########. They’ve given us tools, but some ppl will still play certain ways for whatever reason.
Why do there need to be tools to stop camping and tunneling? I have never and will never understand this. Killers are supposed to find, chase, down and above all kill survivors. Survivor skill lie in their ability to not be found, and evade the Killer while getting gens done. A mechanic that prevented a Killer from tunneling (focusing a survivor until they're dead) or camping (setting an ambush for other survivors/securing the kill) would remove every playstyle but 'run from gen to gen and hope a survivor is there'.
When that happens there will really only be two viable Killers: Billy and Nurse, because everybody else will get punished just for being Killers. Be careful what you wish for, survivors; if you get it you won't like it much, an you'll regret it instantly when all of the challenge and difficulty (and all of the Killer players) are gone because they have to play in only a single no thinking required way to win. or actually...maybe Survivors would be fine with guaranteed wins and doing nothing but looping and sitting on gens.
-
Nah, i have been doing okay with my stealth Killers at high ranks, especially Mike; it's a different playstyle from the super speed chase style, but it can and does work if you actually bother to learn it. The problem is it's so difficult and takes so much more effort that most people would rather just play Nurse or Billy and zip around the map; that needs to be fixed. The game needs to be slowed down significantly with extra mandatory Survivor objectives to make stealth more viable and relevant on both sides; i'd play more Survivor if my only reward for remaining unseen wasn't getting to derank.

Again, she is not weak. She's unfun to play and a design letdown overall.
Move some of her power towards Corrupt Purge (and being able to use it consistently) and she's just fine.
Saying she's worse than Wraith, Doctor and Trapper is a joke. She plays like Tier 3 Myers for most of the time. Her problem is player satisfaction, no power. She seems weak because, well, which M1 no mobility killer doesn't?
Reminder: being mid tier isn't inherently bad, it just sucks in this game.
Can't argue opinion. I enjoy her immensely and have never had any survivors complain about her being unfun - in fact i've had plenty of survivors comment that she's fun to play against in aftergame chat, though i'm sure some survivor somewhere has complained about her because survivors complain about any Killer that isn't totally incapable of doing anything, and I don't personally know any Killer players who consider her unfun but...that's very YMMV. I actually like that she is never without options at any point in a trial, and think that changing her playstyle to focus more on corrupt purge (It already is focused on corrupt purge, by the way - either heal and risk giving it to her or don't and be vulnerable; lose-lose) would be a mistake that'd make her a better Huntress because its insanely easy to hit with purge as-is.

If actual evidence that she is not as bad as you seem to think won't change your mind, then the problem is you and not the Killer. Like...you just literally said 'I won't believe anything but what i want to believe no matter what.' Is it really that hard to swallow the idea that she just might not be a Killer any idiot can pick up and just grasp instantly?
-
I like this, with the added condition that door opening needs to be loud - a notification if you do it fast and a loud, audible sound if you're nearby when its opened, like a loud creak. Also, locked doors need to be affected by perks like Brutal Strength and Iron Maiden to open/break them faster on the Killer end.

I think you fail to see the massively unfair advantage a solo survivor at the end has against a killer that can patrol/view both gates while a literal death timer counts down your demise above.
You're lucky if you find a purple key in a box and the hatch before the Entity comes out of nowhere and 86's their ass.
I've said it before EGC existed, and i'll say it again: You won't be in this situation if you win before the endgame. Do gens, open gate, and leave. Don't tick around to farm or save anyone, don't play altruistically and get hooked for someone else. Win and leave.

Proof. And Rank.
Thanks.
Here's the thing. I've been saying this for years, and getting the same response from people who won't bother to learn a different playstyle - both Killer and Survivor. I'm tired of posting videos, 'proving' my rank and skill when any dingleberry can look up a steam profile (mine isn't private and there is no one else with my name) or just ...ask around.
So if you want 'proof' that you'll just dismiss anyway, you know how to find it. But know that 'you're playing against potatoes' was what they said with every 'underpowered' Killer i've flattened survivors on at Rank 1. Funnily enough, the only Killers i can't play well are Billy and Nurse, hence why i don't comment on them. But you do you; keep thinking Plague is bad, and if you and people like you who will not adapt get her buffed i'll enjoy never having so much as a chance of losing
Seeya in the fog.

If survivors are good being broken simply means nothing, they can still get to safe area's and loop her like its nothing. So its more like: Puke all over them, get 1-2 hooks because you caught survivors off guard (if you're lucky) eat pallets for the rest of the remaining gens, have all survivors cleanse so they get a free heal and you have corrupt, fantastic. Oh wait they all escaped
meanwhile, i'm crushing people with her since the moment she released.
-
The Plague has been in the game for 2, almost 3 months now. On paper her ability seems good and she can be quite devastating. But only when survivor's cleanse.
Wrong. People keep perpetuating this idea, but it's entirely incorrect. If they don't cleanse, you hit them once, they fall down, and you win.

That would still be a Legion change which might maybe make them strong in some circumstances. Ain't gonna happen. Addons are part of the Killer's balance, and Legion will forever be a bottom of the dumpster Killer.
-
@Chrisko said:
I like the idea of the change.
Killers with the mentality that 4k is a win and anything less is a loss, then they will not support this. They will focus on the argument that why should the 1 survivor left have that option.
Killers are solely responsible for their play. They don't have to rely on anyone else in the game. If this game had 2 killers that had to work together to succeed and one of them was screwing around, they might be asking for a balanced option for them to succeed if their killer teammate didn't pull their weight.
From the last survivor standpoint (solo play), I have no control over my teammates play and this would give some more flexibility to escape. I wish survivors would play more cooperatively but that will never happen (except in SWF). The current game state encourages SWF and discourages solo play. I don't mind being killed but It is not fun when my fellow survivors don't pull their weight and I have to spend the next 5 - 10 minutes with little chance to succeed and low probability end-game options.
If you want a game where you don't have to worry about teammates, DbD supports that. All you have to do is select 'Play as Killer'.
-
Legion isn't getting any changes because nerfing them into the ground and removing any and all threat they posed was precisely the point. I honestly thought that was abundantly clear by now.

Monitor and Abuse + Dead Rabbit = An enormous amount of fun yanking Survivors off of generators, totems, and other interactables.
Even just regular M+A will give you a massive change in your matches. Michael is one of my absolute favorite Killers to play, but it will take a bit of adjustment going for stealth + LoS blockers vs the standard rush in and smack people around.
When i tell people 'Move like a survivor. Use stealth, stay out of Line of Sight' as ways to be more lethal when playing Myers they just drone on and on about map control and his power not being good in a chase. Nice to see that not everyone is completely braindead.

@SpaceCoconut said:
The trick to stopping camping is to give killers a beneficial reason to leave the hook. They already have an Emblem penalty for being near the hook which does nothing to stop camping.
Instead, maybe give the killers a bonus against the other survivors while a survivor is on the hook. Maybe a small bonus to movement, vaulting, breaking pallets, gen regression speed, or use of their power.
This would not only encourage the killer to go and hunt other survivors to get a bigger bonus or take advantage of the bonus they've just gained, it would encourage survivors to rescue the hooked survivor sooner rather than later.
The important part of this suggestion is that this would need to be implemented as a gameplay mechanic and NOT a perk.
THIS is a good idea. I like this, a lot. Giving Killers a nice little bonus while a survivor is hooked would be game-changing; even a small speed boost or something like slowed action speed while someone is hooked would be enough; i'd lean toward survivors losing action speed since that actually rewards killers with more time to hunt when they succeed at their only objective.

Happened 4 games out of 9 tonight.
Killer closed the hatch and played Monkey In the Middle with the Survivor until End Game snatched 'em up.

DANKE!
Just win the game before endgame. You have every advantage as it is; the whole game favors at least one survivor escaping from the very start. You can potentially have four second-chance perks plus a second-chance item, gens are quick, and all you have to do is not get found, chased, hit twice and hooked three times.
Let me reiterate: All you have to do is not fail nine times with four do-overs, not counting any your teammates give you with flashlight saves, bodyblocks, firecrackers, sabotage or pallet stuns. And you survivors are clamoring for this one and only situation where the Killer is fully in control to be 'fixed' because you just can'r understand that if you reach that point you deserve to lose?
Yep. No bias there at all.
-
OP, you avoid red ranks. That makes everything else you said invalid, because you don't actually play the game at the highest level. Good analysis, but it's based on incomplete information.
-
@Volfawott said:
What are you on about there are no counters are you wilfully ignoring the fact that perks like a wake up exist.
Hell with wake up if you just forget about going for hatch and immediately just wait by an exit for the killer to close it you practically get an escape.
But then actually requires you to swap out some of your perks if you don't want to do that then don't complain
'Bring a perk to counter it' is only considered a fair solution when Killers are being told to do it. Survivors' perks should always just be bonuses on top of all the other mistake-correcting mechanics they get for free.
-
Just give up on Legion, guys. He's dead and buried and never coming back. No Killer will ever be made effective again because effective killers are unfun for survivors, and BHVR wants to keep their larger customer base happy at the expense of the smaller one who exist to be dancing monkeys for them.
-
Or...you can succeed, do gens, or find the hatch first and escape normally. No more extra help or second chances; just play the game and win or lose off of your own skill rather than yet another handholding mechanic for survivors who failed at all of their objectives.

One of the funniest accusations for me was that I was using wall hacks, as I saw someone go into locker when bbq was active, and people calling me a no skill player for using a brown and yellow add ons for wraith (I also main wraith as he was my first killer :D), what made it funnier was that it was a 4 man swf with insta-heals and at least 2 with MoM. Second best for me was when I was accused of lag switching even those the survivor was super laggy because of his internet. Both happened at rank 4 to 8 (don't remember the exact rank)
I get this one a lot, too. A great many Survivors don't play Killer or understand the game from an experienced Killer's perspective. Lke the dozens of times i've been accused of hacking because i stood on a high spot and surveyed the map, saw someone urban evading across the map, and went straight to them. or the countless times i've been 'reported' for 'wallhacks' while using a Scratched Mirror on Mikey.

I’m seeing a lot more people playing stealthy and I love it! Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me?
God, i hope so. I'd love this so much. I do not at all mind a good hunt, and in fact prefer it to endless chasing. I wish the game would shift a bit away from chasing and more toward hunting, maybe extend match length out and enlarge some maps.
-
About ten times a day, i get accused of hacking or lagswitching when these ultimate juke masters juke into my knife or they hide somewhere and i find them because they're either bad at hiding or i happened to check a spot randomly because of sheer intuition honed by 2,390 hours of playing this game.

So it's now you right to use the same failed arguments, when survivors complain? I really don't get this grudge mentality. And the problem with the four minutes is that it happens basicly every game right now. It sums up over time.
And in general, the past doesn't matter, when EGC finally fixes most of these issues. It was adressed. The goal is to make games shorter, when everything is decided. And even if it will become less over time, it's possible. And my experience says there will always people abusing things, when they can. So it will stay an issue. Maybe less of one, but it will continue to happen occasionally.
4 minutes isn't indefinite. Indefinite was indefinite. You will die eventually; we had to sit there in a mexican friggin' standoff.

Nah. This will be the first Killer i don't buy immediately; BHVR has finally lost all my trust and i'm not giving them a red cent for 2-3 months after the release until i'm sure he won't be immediately gutted for being decent. But i'll know if i can buy him or not in the first few days; if survivors and baddie streamers start crying for nerfs, then he's good and fun, and will soon be made bad and boring.
-
90% killer/10% Survivor, when i actually play. Survivor can be fun sometimes, but it needs something more to be even more enjoyable aside from being braindead easy. Some kind of way to reward stealthy play would do it for me; i have entire games where the Killer never sees me because i was doing gens and totems all ninja-like and i get punisher for it. I hate being punished for not failing.

They don't care. They just don't; this game will never change and never be fair for killers because killer fun isn't profitable. I used to think the poor balance was due to incompetence, but now i realize its intentional design decisions. They even said it straight up: Killers are designed to be fun, not balanced. Problem is they're designed to be fun for survivors and frustrating for killers.
