@BigBlackMori We have very differing experiences. What I've seen most of is people just do gens and leave. Unfortunately, the new ranking system promotes rushing back after the hook, feeding campers because if you don't get chase/altruism you don't pip. Pretty sad.
It was that way long before the pip system changed. Survivors have always been thirsty for an unhook, and contrary to what Survivors and bad Killers would have you believe there are more ways to monitor a hook and control an area than just standing there staring at it.
-
I like this, but i'd swap Spirit Fury for Brutal Strength to just break pallets and kick them gens faster. I might even drop SF and take Fire Up instead for super-fast vaults, since i main Myers.

@Peanits If your playing for kills, camping is the dumbest thing you can do. You get one or two kills vs halfway decent survivors. Pressuring the map and keeping fresh hooks going keeps them off gens and gets more kills.
Whether you want to admit it or not, people that camp from the first hook on are typically just trying to be toxic. They want to ruin other people's gameplay. They don't care about kills, blood points, pips, etc. They just want to be toxic. Easily 99% of non-new killers I've faced who camp from the start are just trying to get you going. The end game chat proves it too. They are begging for "salt". Don't give it to them and they will get pretty nasty, or just leave in disappointment.
Camping certain hooks is situationally useful. Swarming, open gates, etc is when it makes sense.
@Warlock_2020 This has not been my experience at all. At all ranks from 20 to 1, across these many years, against solos and SWF's, ordinary people and coordinated streamer-led SWAT teams, survivors have consistently abandoned logic to rush a hook and save every single person at any and all costs and sometimes they get away with it, but usually i end up getting more kills and more points besides when they fail to secure the save.
-
Me, personally? I'm in it for the kills. Blood Points are only important so far as i need them to get better perk options and maintain my addons, and after a point you have a Killer P3 with all perks and so many addons and offerings that points no longer matter, and you can focus on doing what you came to do: Kill survivors. That's my challenge and my fun; as many kills as i can manage before the end of the game. What that means is no, i am not going to just let you go if you unhook in front of my face or i find you again while you're still injured.

- That's still counting 1 hit, assuming you down every time and that's not using her Corrupted Plague, which without it you are getting looped to oblivion against any survivor that's half competent.
- Yeah because expecting a EW3 down on every survivor for every single one of their hooks is totally realistic. It's not. We are talking against actual players, not potatoes.
- RBT's aren't helping you counter MoM in any shape or form. You're seriously gonna count an RBT kill as your MoM counter? Really? That's a stretch and not happening against any non potatoes.
None of these are valid counters.
Okay. You keep saying it's impossible while i'm actually doing it. Stay bad.

MoM works on Corrupted Plague, most of Myers and all of Pig except for Ambush and let's be honest, if you are landing that many ambushes you are playing against potatoes anyway. All three of those killers are terrible for handling MoM against competent players.
Wrong, wrong and wrong.
- Puke til broken.Hit. Do not allow an unhook. Done>
- 99% EW3. Down and hook. Do not allow an unhook. Done (I've always done this anyway)
- I said nothing about ambush (which isn't her real power) i mean RBT's which are equally good at making you unable to escape whether you can be downed or not. Unless you're bad and play 'fair'.
-
I feel bad for other Killers, but i laugh when i remember that I main Myers, Plague and Pig. None of whom give two shits about MoM. I don't blame them for just saying '######### it' after all these years of being ignored.

Unlike survivors, killers always adapted... and always got nerfed because of it.
It will be the same with the new crutches. Killers will find a way to go around them, survivors will whine the house down and the devs will take away what killers used as an adaptation.
This. And then we find new, creative, ultra-specific ways to adapt to the nerfs and get around the ######### decisions born from the vocal outcry of terribad survivors and they just cry about the method we used to adapt and get that nerfed, too.
-
I haven't run into MoM abusers yet, but i'm dreading the moment i go up against some asshat SWF team with DS, DH, MoM and some flashlights along with some other cancerous survivor bullshit. I'll probably have to 'adapt' by finally just learning Nurse, and then adapt further by not playing the game until that bullshit perk gets nerfed.

Yeah this caught me by surprise and it was very cool.

Yes i play as killer (less but still) and i camped and tunneled in first few matches when i didnt know how to play as killer, but after those few matches i could see how annoying and toxic it was so i stopped. Now i have good perks and i will never camp and tunnel again. i am going to tell you 2 the most important thing for me when i play as killer:
- I play for fun and it doesnt matter if i will not hook everyone, it is just a game, but i usually do it without camping and tunneling
- I dont care about rank. It is just a stupid number in upper corner of menu with specific color which for my fun means nothing and from this what i can read here many people are more and more angry when they have smaller number which is sad...
So you never try to win. Got it.

I can tell you that i am in 90% of games not a toxic survivor, but when i see camper or tunneler i am. i can advise you to play:
- for fun
- from time to time as survivor to take a break from killers if it is so annoying
Dude. Killers get called Campers or Tunnelers any time they try to win. The only time they don't is when they go stand in a corner and let the survivors run the map. Do you even play Killer at all?
-
@tomikomPL said:
So tell me why killers should have this kind of information? Why should they know what kind of item survivor takes, why can killers look at survivor steam profile before match? Many killers leave when they see too good people, or take franklin perk to be toxic, so why cant solo survivors do the same? On this forum i usually can read how many killers needs more, and how poor they are, and what about survivors? Blood points from match as survivor is crap right now i will not say anything more because there is too many to tell about. and yes i am main survivor, but i also play as killer, but for me playing as killer is boring thats why i play as survivor.
Using a perk to counter four opponents isn't toxic. Its One versus Four; the one is at a disadvabatge against four other minds. That one should have some small advantages. If you had your way nobody would play Killer because winning would be impossible. Think about what you're asking for; people would abuse this knowledge to guarantee they'd never lose and make playing Killer completely miserable, and then there would be no game.

Maybe yu should think about the reasons why people dcing. I starts with bugyg hits and laggs. Like you dropped the pallet perfectly but because of the ping the hit went through the pallet. Ort those crazy window hits when your feet makes one stop forwards and the killer can still hit you because you lag back.
Another thing is that this game doesnt get balanced around solo survivor. Solo q's are THE #########. You can see it everywhere where *solos* are playing. The devs still didnt adjusted it.
Tunneling is still too strong. I mean I m tunneling too if it's pass my plans. But you just die. Same with Moris. 1 ebony mori shortens 8 hooks. Currently I see more problems especially for solo survivors than for killer. Yea there's the Clown, Freddy and the Trapper traps should have a build in Iridiscent stone (maybe every 60 secs and the addons shortens that) Sure. But I see many issues und problems in the survivor gameplay. Escpecially the solo gameplay. It's garbage. It's pure garbage. It's like Freddy x 9000 - just worse
'Nothing' x 9000 is still nothing.

@BigBlackMori Why "should" survivors have to compete with one another? This new ranking system is obviously made to handicap SWF further but doing that only helps to slow down the matchmaking system by unbalancing swf ranks and make the game much harder for individuals, and give swf or selfish players in general more reason to farm off of individuals. I don't think survivor needs to be team oriented, but it shouldn't be survivors competing against each other with such limited time in a match and killers who could possibly treat certain individuals as their main target over being a good player or just being obsession.
From: http://www.deadbydaylight.com/en
WHAT’S DEAD BY DAYLIGHT
Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical multiplayer (4vs1) horror game where one player takes on the role of the savage Killer, and the other four players play as Survivors, trying to escape the Killer and avoid being caught and killed.
Know what i don't see in that description? the word 'team'. But i do see 'savage killer' and 'escape' and 'avoid being caught or killed'

If you wonder why people are dcing, its because you play legion. Survivors are tired of the whole deep wound, then break chase and proxy until they drop on the floor. Cant really blame them because the game is for fun and that isnt fun. Same reason you cant blame killers for insta dcing on Haddonfield or wrecked shop, super unfun to play on.
On the other hand the numbers of DCs on first hits (not Prayer beads spirit or legion im talking about) its very problematic. I feel if you dc you shouldn't be able to reque for 5 minutes and you ought to take a 20% penalty to BP the next 2 games, to dissuade this while not penalizing the people whose dog tripped over the Ethernet cable too hard.
I've played 30 games today as of a few minutes ago. 21 of those at least 1 person DC'ed, usually more. I have not played legion in over a month; i was playing: Shape, Plague, some Doctor. The DC's always happened on first down or death hook.
So what now?

Survivors now have to work hard and compete with each other for the limited points available. This is as it should be - As a Killer i have noticed less braindead altruistic behavior than previously, which is fine because survivors are not a team, they are four individuals with the same goal. But nobody wants to hear that.
But if it makes you feel any better, pipping is just as hard for Killers now. Moreso, even; i black pip more often than not and have sat at rank 10-11 since the emblem changes, steadily climbing as i adjust my playstyle to the new emblem system.

If it was as simple as just cleansing the totems, then why would killers run it? If it is so easy to get rid of the perk, then why do you rely on it regularly? It's because they know that totems aren't cleansed most of the time, and that it will get them an easy 4 man after the gates are powered. It's especially hard to counter in solos due to the fact that you can't communicate with your teammates how many totems are left and whatnot.
Maybe killers should stop telling others to "git gud" and try killing the survivors before the survivors finish all of the gens. I understand NOED as a counter to a 4 man team rushing gens, but running it regulary against randoms (which, let's be honest, are basically bots) is completely unnecessary and unfair, especially after they've waited 10+ minutes for a game because of this matchmaking system.
But if you kill all the survivors before they finish gens, you're camping, tunneling POS. 🤨

I have a better idea: Don't get caught -
You don't need a "mandatory perk" to counter this, just pick the survivor up when you down them. No perk is needed to do a simple task. I do this every time when I play my Spirit unless I can end the game practically instantly by slugging another survivor.
Talking about slugging, I make sure the survivor doesn't have No Mither and if they do, I'll take a 3k anyways since I usually slug when I can easily down the final survivor. Same thing with this change, don't slug a survivor when they have a Med-Kit. No perk needed.
If you have anymore points I'll shoot it down with reasoning and justification.
Yes, you do need Franklin's with something like this in effect, because without a way to remove ALL possibility of a medkit save then situations where you cannot hook at all and would normally slug and continue chasing someone else become unwinnable scenarios. Example: If someone got downed a flashlight squad could easily just bodyblock and tap heal a teammate back up. A sabo squad could be nigh-unbeatable. (a No Mither sabo squad is already difficult to play against if you don't have Hangman's Trick).
To be perfectly clear: This would make one more Killer tactic so risky that if it wasn't hard-countered by a perk, then it couldn't be done at all. Do you understand? The way you play is not how everyone plays, and i'd say it's not even a smart way to play in many circumstances. Your experiences are not universal. Get it?
Edit: Actually, you win. I'm done with this thread; you don't want feedback. You just want to be right and you are either ignoring obvious issues or lack the experience to realize they exist. Regardless, i'm done.

BigBlackMori said:If this happened medkits and Franklin's would become mandatory and Unbreakable would become useless. Overall it'd be a Survivor buff in the wrong area (self-sufficient recovery) which is the last thing this game needs.
@BigBlackMori
Nah, you won't notice anything. I think y'all are misunderstanding how this would work. You have to recover like normal or recover with a Med-Kit with increased recovery speed until you reach 95%. Once at 95%, you'll need to use the Med-Kit to pass the recover limit and reach 99% recovery. If you are still holding the recover action for the Med-Kit, you'll recover to the injured state and consume 16 charges. You cannot do this if you have less than 16 charges but you can still use the increase recovery speed if you so please.
Now, for all of this to happen, you'll need to slug a survivor with a Med-Kit having at least 16 charges. If you're the type of killer that slugs then this might hurt if you slug survivors with a Med-kit otherwise, you'll be just fine. Besides, most killers just pick up survivors instantly anyways so this change would go mostly unnoticed.
Yes, it would be noticeable. What you are missing is that while it's not broken by itself its one more way for Survivors to get a do-over when they make a mistake. I would absolutely run Franklin's every game and tunnel medkit users, or just dodge them entirely. Killers cannot afford another mandatory perk to counter a BS Survivor tactic, and this would create just such a situation. It would also make slugging an even more niche tactic and a non-option, which would be bad for Survivors because Killers will be even more reluctant to ever leave someone on the ground if they dont have Franklin's and will therefore tunnel harder (which Survivors dislike and whine endlessly about).

The thing of it is neither is an abuse and both are legitimate tactics.
I see people say this all the time, and it still boggles my mind. Why does it matter if they're the first person I caught? If i can get away with keeping them hooked til death while defending gens (Not that hard), why shouldn't i? Why is it 'bad' to capitalize on an opponent's mistake? Because it isn't 'fun' for them? so basically that was the longest winded "I lose people as legion sometimes, so you're wrong" I've ever seen. You bring into account my ability to play survivor multiple times in your response, but you ignore the fact that design problems stemming from a killer's lack of ability does not equal counterplay. Every single one of those "answers" revolved around the killer messing up. Thats not how counterplay works.I personally don't hate playing against the legion, but I have seen enough of him from both sides to know what he is and isnt capable of. The point of the discussion is that a legion who does not mess up will never lose a chase vs a survivor of equal or higher skill. The survivor can draw the chase out, but it WILL end in them down unless the legion makes big mistakes. The reason so many people take issue with this is because even the nurse has more counterplay due to her being required to blink to catch up to survivors, and survivors being able to manipulate her landing spots with obstacles as well as LoS blocking and actual mindgames therein.
Umm....he was right, though. Like...everything he said. Legion is to survivors as every survivor is to al other Killers - if he plays perfectly, he wins. If he capitalizes on his opponents' mistakes, he wins.
Congratulations, Survivors. Now you know how Killer mains feel all the time.

Bloody #########, imagine people still discuss looping in 2019.
Some people really want survivors to play like rank 20s by stealthing and running in a straight line. Mental.Looping isn't fun for the Killer. At all. If legion should get reworked for being 'not fun', so should looping.

bendermac said:Best fix for camping: Stop trolling and teabagging. Be unrespectful and you get facecamped by me. Play fair and I leave you be
The people complaining about camping aren't the ones teabagging. We're talking killers who do it from the start because they're too lazy to play any other way.
I find it's a lot of people going for the daily that do this. They have no experience or perks with the killer and DGAF so they just camp.
The people complaining about 'lazy' Killers don't consider how many times that Killer tried to make it 'fun' for Survivors and had his own game ruined for doing so. They only think about the game they played with that Killer, not the 15 others where he got looped, teabagged, bodyblocked, flashlight spammed and insulted.
-
Thanks for acknowledging that blaming your opponents and teammates won't make you better. A few things to keep in mind:
- Killers respond to their opponents' playstyle. If i see people getting unhooked the moment i walk away, i pitch a tent and patrol hard. If i see people running to the hook with BBQ or Bitter Murmur (or bbq shows me nobody) then I assume they're coming for the save and don't leave.
- Obsession. Many obsession perks mark you as a priority target; if i run Dying Light or Remember Me and you are the Obsession, you're getting tunneled, period. Dstrike is a lovely perk, but its power can come with a major downside and some Killers (Like me) make it a point to either tunnel or entirely ignore suspected DS users as the situation warrants.
- Annoyance. The more you annoy the Killer, the more they will want to kill you, sometimes even at the cost of victory. The nail that sticks out gets hammered. Do not make yourself a target. Do not spam a flashlight macro. Do not teabag. Play like you are a helpless and terrified victim up against an invincible killing machine, and remember: The Killer you pissed off this game will see you again, and he will remember what you did. By not being a jerk now, you save yourself a lot of pain later.
- Do gens. You've already been focusing on this, but it behooves you to get two gens done and then lay low; keep working on objectives, but when things go south - find the hatch.
- Sandbag. Survivors are not a team. They are four individuals with the same goal which sometimes overlaps. Treat the other survivors like tools (because they probably are) and use them until they are no longer useful, then discard them when they are of no further use to you. Surviving is winning.
-
@Grim said:
I always try to avoid these tactics as I understand survivors find them toxic and I can agree that it's not fun if the killer sticks by you and chases you off the hook. But I think that a lot of people let their own subjective experiences get in the way of their own objective evaluations. I'll constantly come by people who attempt to derail them as legitimate and legal strategies simply because they don't enjoy them. It's the same with the "gen rush." The main difference between the concepts is that gen rushing is a byproduct of a genuine flaw in the game's core design, (however still legitimate and legal in and of itself), whereas, camping and tunneling are not. Now, a lot of the time, I feel like camping hurts the killer as you surrender all pressure, but if the killer knows you're an overly altruistic team, or the exit gates are powered, why wouldn't they stick around when you're essentially giving them free pressure? It's the same with tunneling: It can be the more efficient move. If I'm not already in a chase, or I am and I see you get unhooked, why wouldn't I switch to you if you're one hook closer to death? One hook closer to that 3v1. Personally, I have no problem if the killer signals me out and/or camps me because I get that that's how they've decided to play and depending on their situation, it might be the smarter move. I also have no problem if survivors do gens really fast because what else is there for them to do really?
TL;DR, at the end of the day, both survivors and killers will play how they want to play. It's pointless to try and control that reality. Try to get past that and enjoy the game or move on.
I'm curious on your's guys' thoughts.
Camping and tunneling work. I never have and ever will understand how people who say they lead to losing are playing, because it works for me far more often than not. In three years with this game, it's consistently worked from browntown all the way to rank 1, all season very season. Never has it not been efficient to systematically remove my opposition.

You have to get other players to use the pallets or catch these guys in a bad spot. Some pallets you have to break immediately, some you can leave but need to come back and break it, others you can just leave there (though I never leave them bc free points!). If you are getting looped endlessly though chances are you are either being mindgamed enough for them to make distance or you are respecting pallets.I almost never respect pallets I just go through them, Most of the time you can get a hit by doing that and it makes survivors less likely to do that extra loop when you chase them again. They will cut the loop short by 1 and wait at the pallet, so you swing through the pallet. Now they will be trying to hit you with a pallet so you can start respecting pallets as a way to get them to waste them. If you scare a survivor enough and condition them to drop the pallet early, they will drop it early. Sometimes it you read the drop you can just go around the loop as if you are going right for bloodlust. That scares survivors that drop the pallet because they did it in a panic and if they do that and see you just going right for bloodlust they will panic and mess up more.
Confused survivors are scared survivors. Scared survivors screw up. Survivors that screw up die.
This. Drives me insane watching streamers play Killer and NOT swing through pallets when they could be getting hits. Take the damn swing.

If they have half a brain, they'll only be doing one of those things.
If you have any skill as a Killer, they'll be doing all of those things and more. That's called pressure and presence; legion has both in spades and if you don't capitalize on it then of course you'll do bad. Somebody should always be pressured. If not, you are messing up. That goes for any Killer.

Shape has no bad addons. If you are a good Shape player, then you can use them all. The mirrors that reveal auras are especially good, even the weaker ones - map awareness = less time searching for survivors, which is crucial for making up time you lose in Tier 1 because of reduced speed.

Or running around in a circle at the exit because they know they won and the Killer can't get them, sometimes they do and I laugh at them but mostly they get away.Of course, not all Survivors are like this but when someone is dominating someone else they feel empowered and cocky and therefore troll. I almost got wrapped up in one time and I was like no thank you and left, even the most respectful of players can get sucked into it.
This. In my experience, no matter how merciful or considerate you are, survivors are whiney and ungrateful and i find it extremely unsatisfying to throw a game for worthless points. I play a Killer to Kill, and if i get the chance to send you to the Entity...you dead bruh.

You are both missing the thing I was focusing on, which is when tunneling is done as a BAD strategy. I understand that it can have merits in a lot of cases (some killers base kits practically focus on it, like bing bong boi here) but there are many times where killers will put themselves in an absurdly disadvantageous position just to make a single survivor's game awful. I'm talking survivors coming out of games with a 0/700/0/8000 point spread because the killer refuses to go after anyone else, defend gens, etc. It sounds hyperbolic, but it happens a lot, even at red ranks.I understand why a lot of killers get defensive about this, because of the overwhelming survivor mentality of "I need to survive every single game behavior plz," but there's definitely a middle ground to be had. The best games are always ones where the post game chat isnt full of salt from either side, but people offering advice and complimenting good plays.
This is exactly the kind of games that SHOULD be happening. There is a reason that some survivors are salty in the post game chat. The 0/700/0/8000 spread of points is the WORST as a survivor.
Yes, tunneling is a viable strategy but when the killer CONTINUOUSLY camps the hook with 4 or 5 gens left and ONLY goes after that one survivor, it’s just bad gameplay...making one survivors game awful for a stupid reason (maybe they have gotten all the trophies and the killer feels like they have something to prove, being a Twitcch streamer, bringing in a flashlight, etc...) is just unsportsmanlike. All survivor complains are not from pure salt due to having entitlement but maybe JUST MAYBE some killers actuallu have bad gameplay that results in a 0K/1K from making one survivors game brutal for no reason. It’s much more enjoyable when the killer is after ALL survivors.
Tunneling and camping when there are lots of gens is exactly when you SHOULD do it. And it works, too - get an opponent out of the game early and now its a 1v3, not a 1v4. The other gens are easy to defend against 3 survivors.
No it’s not what you should do. Good survivors will easily gen rush you when you tunnel and camp a single survivor. You’re leaving three survivors to fix gens. If you stand by the hook and they KNOW you are camping, by the time the one survivor on the hook is in struggle mode there is one generator left. This is one of the reasons why killers complain about generators getting done quickly because they have poor gameplay and poor gen control
So you're telling me the constant 4k's i get at rank 1 doing this are all in my head?

If you play her right, you can control the map with her basically. My trick is to slow the game and control it to my benefit.Congratulations, you are using the traps to buy yourself time to kill survivors with a vanilla killer that has no power. The crouch+charge is so bad it does essentially nothing unless you run addons to improve them in which case your traps become worse.
Wait...you can't down a survivor without using your power? Then you're probably bad, and you are exactly what's wrong with DbD Killers: You should not NEED a power or perks at all to 4k. The power and perks should help you, not carry you. And yes i can and have backed it up with a recorded and livestreamed series of rank 1 games as a perkless no-traps trapper getting 4k after 4k. Did it as a Tier 1 EW Michael, too.
