  • Going against event hooks on purpose is nasty, but it doesn't make too big a difference. Sabo is quite weak atm, even without Hangman's. I wish just everyone played the game normally, and appreciate when you're in a lucky spot and manage to get an event hook/generator.
Too much cooperation between survivors and the killer kills the game.
  • I used him a lot, though never "mained" him. One advice I have for you is don't try to use the chainsaw every time. There are plenty of loops where you have a good chance for a hammer hit but not enough time for a chainsaw. Use the big guns only when out in the open.
Try to have a feel how experienced the survivor you're currently chasing is. If not so much, just go for the obvious turn. If a very good evader, then you have to be as unpredictable as possible.
The way I view the chainsaw is that first it is an awesome way to fast travel anywhere. It's usefulness ad an instadown weapon is great too, but that is only its second most important function.
Hope some better Hillbilly players show up for the advanced lessons :)
  • I still wish he was not addon reliant. He is better now, but it's still tough playing him.
I have a soft spot for good old Mr. Bing Bong too. I watched a lot of videos before decided to buy the game, and I always found the sound of his bell so eerie and creepy and scary :) Unfortunately I'm having a hard time whenever I try to play him at high ranks.

There are many killers that feel that a 3k should be the standard for the game. TBH I don't think the number of kills matters that much. The game should be centered around feeling satisfying for both sides.

What if I'm only satisified if I manage to ruin the fun of other people?

Just kidding of course. I'd also think a 2K is generally adraw and can be a very good game for everyone. But I would add that survivors also need to learn that dying in a game is not necessarily a failure, if you did a lot of useful stuff for the team as a whole. In this, Survivor emblem system does actually represent your performance quite well.

  • Burger guy above is right though. Spirit can be very effective against even these guys. For those killers like me (talentless, cough) she's great because sometimes you can just luck it out :)

    1) The leprechaun
    2) Chucky
    3) Hellrasier
    4) The Predator
    5) Custom Crazy Looking Killer

    1) Lame.
    2) Lame.
    3) Lame.
    4) Lame.
    5) Lame.

    Only my opinion, blablabla. Still.

  • Umm. @Mikaxo my friend, have you heard of the infamous SWF-s? Do you realize that the survivor you hooked can see you waiting there?
Sorry, Insidious builds usually don't work out. I wish they did.

When you use full tombstone make sure that you bring "Play with Your Food".

Really? Please elaborate. I thought that was useless??

Judith's Tombstone slows you down. The Mori doesn't count as an offensive action, last time I checked. Therefore "Play with Your Food" counters the speed penalty.

Yup, just so. Though it's somewhat funny that tickling a survivor with a knife is an offensive action, while giving them several gaping chest wounds, then tossing their corpse on the ground is not :)

  • When I went for Evil Incarnate achievement, I just looked it up on some Steam or Reddit forum. Based on description it is not evident (although I guess we could have figured it out, it makes sense if you think about gameplay balance/fairness).
Good luck with the achievement tthough! It's a major pain in the ass.

Camping is a mindset. A camper will camp, no matter what. All these suggestions only punishes actual non-campers who remain around the hook for other reasons.

    Other reasons... Such as... camping?

Some stick around because they suspect survivors hiding about.
Some stick around because of the last generators are close enough to not leave.
Some stick around because they're trying to also protect their hex totem.

Even so, if they stick around because someone is hiding around, and the survivor doesn't actually upon it it's just game stalling.

If the generator is close enough, they still have to go between the hook and the generator, which makes it super hard for the survivors to win, so another reasonable way of increasing the time it takes for someone to die.
Also, if they're camping the hex totem, refer to post above.

You get it wrong. "survivors to win"? They're not there to win. They must die. Every last one of them.
Whatever it takes. I'll watch paint dry if I have to.

"Mood"? What? I don't understand what you mean. I'm sorry, I was adopted.

Thought I would go for the Evil Within trophy or whatever its called when you kill all four in EW3.

Was fortunate enough to come across a potato team and soon had charged up and killed the first one.

But then I dropped back to EW2!

FFS I had used Fragrant Tuft of hair with Tombstone piece and not Judith's Tombstone. Why didn't anyone tell me about this? Its not very clear that this combo doesn't work.

I can help you out: Tombstone Piece does not work with Fragrant Tuft of Hair.
    Now you know.

  • I've just had the weirdest experience: two days ago, just after rank reset, I was tossed back to rank 10 and throughout 5-6 matches I had the most horrible zero kill games with endless teabagging, flashlight spamming and the obligatory "you suck" messages in aftergame chat. By SWF, obviously. For the first time in my 1000 hours of dbd, I started to feel what some other killers feel: "I hate all survivors. I don't care if they're nice guys or anything, I'll just camp & tunnel and whatever else is necessary to kill them all." Kept playing with Ebony Mories, Redhead's Pinky, NOED and the like... still fukked up royally in the rest of my games, every one of them. Strange, as I usually have an easy time shrugging off insults and my own failures.

And then one day later, it was the complete opposite: got some nice, intense games, 3-4K each time and it was all with my favourite type of survivors: the one that has the dignity to say "gg" "wp" "gl hf" and all that stuff even after they got sacrificed. Again, EVERY game I played yesterday evening were like that. Friendly chat afterwards, politely praising the skills of the other regardless of the outcome.

The hell is happening? My guess is that being rank 2 before rank reset must have placed me with the most skilled players at the beginning of the season, but then in just one day ranks have been balanced out again. But does that mean 99% of rank 1 survivors are #########? I got to rank 1 survivor before and I'm not one, and I only play solo. I don't think they are. Can someone explain?

You are not supposed to see him. Thats the point of his power.

But besides. I have a thread for 2 minor changes that will hopefully make him a lot better.

BTW i hope Bubba gets an Addon treatment with so much love as Wraith did. Its a lot of fun to play Wraith, even if he isnt that strong.

Bubba has a great addon though, it's called Speed Limiter. Big favourite. Other than that, I don't think he needs addon treatment, more like a general overhaul.

LF is probably the killer who mostly needs an AddOn rework. He inherited way too much from the Hillbilly, without considering the differences between their both powers.

Hm. Okay. You convinced me there.

OP, I highly doubt that no one dares to play. Since cheating is socially accepted in China.

That's a very rude thing to say. Btw it's true.

  • So many dumb, biased opinions. Sometimes I wish we were back in time when you bought your video game on a CD and that was it, if there was anything you didn't like, well, you just had to deal with it.

Now there's demands galore towards the developers: to make the hatch go away, or make it a free escape for any survivor too dumb to do generators instead of facing the killer at hatch.

  • Double posting silly things doesn't make them less silly.
  • They're fun offerings, but too great an advantage to stealthy Claudettes. I happen to have a lot of respect for proper stealth play, but New Moon Bouquet is just too much.
  • Umm, that Clown may have been me. Not sure but I had such a game recently. And I tend to forget I have a Mori :)

@Slaymore I disagree. The large number of DC-s are the single biggest problem this game faces at this point. The argument "they provided this option" is not quite correct. The option is there for cases like, your father getting a heart attack, your character is bugged at start and cannot move or you're just having the diarrhea of a lifetime. Other than these exceptional cases, you should not DC, and it should be punished much more decisively than it is now. Why? Honestly, do you not care about screwing over FOUR other people's games? Because that's what you do when you DC.

At no point did I say DC's were not a problem. Stating the large number of DC's being the number one problem is your opinion. Killer DC's have been an issue from day one with survivors losing offerings and they have still done nothing and I've provided them the SIMPLE fix for this. They say it's a server issue but that is not the case as I have detailed to them. I agree a DC screws other peoples games as does AFK, trolls, etc.

But, when you choose the menu option to leave, there should be no arbitrary, behind-the-scenes determination of punishment. Dodge timers are used in many other games and work quite effectively - and you are notified immediately what is going to happen so many may just stay in game instead.

Right, I think I could get behind a more open way of penalizing players, with a dodge timer or otherwise. But it still stands that the devs having added a quit option doesn't make rq okay.
Also, I don't think we have rhe same experiences bugwise. Never really had a problem with Dead Hard, Safe Hook event seems to work just fine. Deliverance is bugged all right and of course there are some others, but nothing that ruins the fun quality of the game. In my opinion.
  • I wouldn't mind something like, say, removing one perk from all SWF players if three or four join. The devs may in the future come up with some more complex solution, but I think a simple one is often the best.
  • Dudddd said:
Another reason to DC being mori spammed , having the mori animation performed on you until you’re near to bleed out is fun right? people on here only think the toxicity resides on survivor side.
Mori spamming is indeed an ######### thing to do, but the correct reaction is the same ad to being tunneled, facecamped, etc: man up, bear with it and so buy your fellow survivors some extra time.

And @Tsulan : yeah exactly. Threesome against the killer with five gens to do, that's called a challenge, and definitely not a reason to DC.
I'd only say if at least TWO people quit early in your game, then there should be no consequences for the last two if they DC as well. Though maybe even this could be abused with SWF.
  • I've thought about it a lot. Used to think it would at least partly solve the problem with the unfair advantage SWF players have. Not so sure anymore: the most trollish survivor groups would continue using their own method of communications, with no limitation (I assume an inbuilt voice chat would be limited by distance). I'm talking about groups who use every possible exploit and imbalanced tool possible. These guys won't care.
Also, there are those who won't use voice chat however convenient it is, so they won't enjoy its benefits. Though this is the lesser issue, as it's up to them.
  • You guys really saw so many people saboing event hooks last time? I mean, I played a lot during the BBQ event, and I faced no more than 2-3 people of the kind. I don't think it's that much of a deal. Mabye others have different experience. Frankly, gathering all the Frosty Margaritas for the survivor reward was much more of a pain in the arse than getting a load of BP and the killer reward.

  • @Fishcat said:
What a weird community just a whole lot of whiners and crybabies.. You try to kill me by putting me on a meathook bleeding out and you are offended by me doing squats and im not SWF player and most of the time I get killed i just do it for fun

Actually, you got a point there. Some celebration is definitely in order when you escape the horror that's after you. But Fishcat, don't forget that intense teabagging is very often followed by insults and trash talk after game. It's a kind of a conditioned reflex. Still, people, myself included, should be more chill about it.

  • @Dudddd
Please go play another game if you're so dissatisfied with this game. Don't need DC-ing people, sorry, off you go.
I for one welcome a ban wave for both obnoxious messages and DC-s. Though, @powerbats , I gotta say, DC is much worse than some racist slur thrown at you. Seen worse than what you quoted there. Granted, it's plenty nasty, but just words.
I'll definitely join @RuneStarr and buy meself some sexy skins only to show my appreciation.

  • @Well_Placed_HexTotem you speak though as there were countless serious problems with the game. There are not. A number of annoying nuisances, yes, balance issues, sure, but other than DC-s going unpunished in large numbers, there's nothing else that actually ruins game experience.

I'd love dedicated servers too, but they are not going to happen. In ten years, when the community will be 5% of what's today, remaining players will be grateful for that, since then there probably won't be dedicated servers anyway for this old game.

  • @Fishcat it has something to do with context (like all forms of communication I guess). As a killer against a group of survivors whose skill is way beyond his, often there's this overwhelming sense of impotence. So it's partly about the anger over one's own failure. So... if you want to make people feel really #########, keep teabagging them at the exit gates. If you don't, however, you may not want to continue doing that.

There are several ways of teabagging though now to think of it. One is when you simply greet a fellow survivor. No problem with that. Then there is another, when you just meet the killer early in the game, and taunt him a bit to distract him, mostly if you're confident in your abilities to evade him long enough. "Catch me if you can" kind of thing. I actually don't object to this kind of teabagging. It's annoying, but that's the point: it's a challenge and many of us often falls for it, even though it's smarter to try to hunt down the weaker ones first.

And then there's the third kind, the most typical and hated version of teabagging: doing it to the killer at the exit gates, when he already failed completely. I'd say you have the right to mock and humiliate someone you've beaten. You're a better person if you don't, but you're the winner so you can do that. Just keep in mind, it's like beating someone up (which is an okay thing to do) and then spitting in their face (which is more questionable).

And don't forget, playing survivor is a lot easier than playing killer. So when you get cocky, teabag someone at exit gate and throw in some "ez" and "n00b killer" in endgame chat, maybe think of how well you'd perform if you tried the harder role.

  • @witulo : lag happens relatively often. Lagswitching and other kinds of cheating are very rare. And please keep in mind that if you disconnect in my game, you're screwing with me and the three other guys in the game.
It's tempting to think the other player cheats when we fail, but please think about it: in any given multiplayer video game there are about 50 times as many accusations of cheating than actual cheating.

  • If you're new to Nurse you'll derank in no time, no worries there.

    Don't worry. :)

Seconded. We all see a lot of survivors crying "it's bannable" for completely ok things, tools that are intended and that are there to help you achieve your goals. Bodyblocking is one such tool.
    Just ignore him.

(Out of curiuosity: how did you manage to hit him TWICE @Snapshot ? With bodyblocking, it just works one time, I mean with the speed burst on hit comes a no collision effect, similar to Dead Hard.)

  • Jesus, get a life man. Just give up, as survivor or as killer. You really have so much time to waste? There is no problem with current state of the hatch.
I get it you were going for an adapt, but you can get that later. Hatch standoff is just not worth the time.
  • Agree. Mashing space must go. Just have a suicide option for those who wanna give up.
  • Lindsay Lohan could play the Hag. Would save a lot of work for the makeup team.
  • Why stay at high ranks? So you can keep bragging about it?
  • Collecting achievements! Feels like I'm doing progress so I can ignore all the pressing problems in RL.
  • There are many posts about this, just look them up. Some of these suggest quite decisive measures, like you do. I agree btw.

Tee bagging is one of the things that makes the game fun for survivors.

Which is a sign that something's really wrong in DbD. In no game should resorting to toxicity be fun.

If that's "toxicity", then "toxicity" is a weightless term. Why would you care when someone teabags? Childish, but it's only worse if you react as a child too. Accept you lost, move on to your next game. The "don't feed the troll" rule stands for teabaggers too.

  • Annoying, but like @Lagoni says. Hunt them down or deal with it. No biggie.

Yea I feel you, but there's no other option in this case. I wouldn't guard them though, just go for someone else, but there's no perfect solution.
I think there's a similar case with Groaning Storehouse top floor.

  • Less than 20% of games has real camping in it. If killer expects someone going for the save and goes back to the hook to hunt the saviour down, that's not camping. If he spotted someone nearby while carrying and hooking and stays close to the hook, that's not camping either.
1749206 posts have said it: stick to your generator. That's the way to prevent camping. If you try to go for the save, you get what's coming to you :)
  • @projecteulogy I've seen this Panda video (though the original Magpie idea does not come from him, he credits someone else at the beginning for it). It cracked me up. Even though I'd most likely be pissed if I found someone on my team is doing that, it just adds to the comedy.
"Hey I've been doing generators, running from the killer, unhooking and healing teammates, all stressed out and you've been doing THIS??!!"
I love competitive tryhard games but the humor factor is great too in dbd. Panda is the best out there.

  • I'd much prefer the Bloodweb throwing less garbage at you. I'm maxed on Smelly Inner Soles and Rubber Gloves. Not a major issue, but slightly annoying.

  • What's really frustrating is that a lot of thought goes into fixing "problems" that are either nonexistent (like camping/tunneling, Hatch standoffs), or secondary (perks, healing speed, etc), while disconnects are the single most damaging thing that plagues the community (well, the decent majority anyways).

The best suggestion I've seen so far was in this thread by @splatvybz here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/23540/game-timeout-for-disconnecting/p1 . There could be other solutions just as effective. Something has to be done though.

I wonder if the devs are worried this might scare players away. There's a conflict of interest here between us players and the devs I think: some of those pubescent chimpanzees would just go back playing CS:GO and stop buying the new content on their daddy's credit card, if they're hit too hard by timeouts due to DC-ing. I hope it's not the case, but I don't know what else could it be.
