  • The Killer is in a bad spot. Killer is designed with having an advantage for the first strike and a disadvantage for the second in mind. Problem is in their current state for survivors there is basicly no counterplay against frenzy. And even though it takes long time to down somebody using it, they will down you, while you can't do anything as a survivor.
On the other hand their 110% movement speed gives them less map control and make them very loopable, whithout their ability.
They are kinda like Freddy. A killer annoying to face against and annoying to play as in their current state. Simple buffs won't help to fix that in my opinion.

So say they're in the killer shack, you just use frenzy, vault the pallet, then cancel and immediately M1 them?

Does that sound balanced to you?

when nurse can just teleport over the pallet and smack them, yes it does lmao

Nurse is different. Her ability works more like a projectile and there are counterplays to it, like losing LoS and mindgames. I even stun Nurses from time to time after blink with a pallette.
Legion's frenzy doesn't have that. You can outrun them with a SB a bit and maybe pallet stunt them, if you are lucky. They don't see scratchmarks, but losing LoS is still hard, because they run so fast. And if you do so, you can't move far away and need to mend, which causes a sound.
Legion is a mess to blance, because their core ability is almost uncounterable in a direct chase.

You're right, but to be honest I much prefer Legion being unviable than busted. If balanced incorrectly they'd simply be uncounterable.

I think Legion can be very strong but with a much higher skill cap like Spirit/nurse but Legion shouldn't be trash tier like this its so sad :(:(

I feel like you'd need to do some serious tweaking to their power for it to have a high skill cap. It's basically a "chase better" button right now, with only the severe drawbacks from Deep Wound keeping them from being top-tier.

Yep, making Legion better, means nerfs/tweaks to their actual power. There isn't much counterplay right now. I mean you can at least try to mindgame a Nurse or break LoS midchase to make it harder for her to predict your movement. Or make a locker jump to avoid her hit etc. There is some counterplay.

With Legion, you have maybe exhaustion perks, which allow you to wast them their frenzy. But besides that there isn't really anything you can do. Breaking LoS doesn't work that well. Even though they don't see scratchmarks in frenzy, their speed in chase make up for it to actual use it ingame. Maybe Q&Q play works. But really I don't see much counterplay with Legion right now.

  • The thing with bloodhound Legion is that it's not how they are supposed to be played or meant to be. And It's a very cheap tactic. It's like the pig crouching behind you while your RBT: Pig is countered by the amount of time it takes for the RBT to get off.
BH Legion on the other hand takes, I think, around 30s to down someone that way. Maybe longer if you consider, that people could stop the timer last minute by mending. It's probably faster and reliable in some way. Enough time for a gen to be almost popped. On the other hand an SWF team might counter it with a bodyblock, considering, that you might have to look down or away from the survivor. But not sure with that.
It's really just another design flaw of the Legion.

  • Well perfomance issues were already known during the PTB and there was thread collecting these issues. I'm one of the people who are dealing now with low FPS and high CPU usage.Sadly I feared this issues won't be gone until the patch hits live. I mean fixing such things takes time.
Playing Killer is probably unplayable now for me. Especially high movement speed ones, because of the fps drops. Don't know how to feel now. I know my PC was made from used parts back in summer 2017 for like 200€. Couldn't afford more. Can't afford more.
But DbD was one of these games, which were working fine for a long time. One of the first I bought after getting my PC. It became my main game and I'm on my way to 2k hours in this game. Well I guess I won't reach it this year and have to hope future update will make things better.

  • Just be patient. Sometime this week. Not necessary today.

  • I really doubt they will change their business model just one year after they introduced us with the recent one. They are earning money through new sales, dlcs and cosmetics. I'm pretty sure, they already calculated how much it would costs them to switch to dedicated servers in the long term, and their current business model might ensure that.
It's more likely that we will se more auric cells only cosmetics than a speculated switch in their business model, just to finance the servers.

  • @MhhBurgers said:
    What was the actual excuse?

That's too frustrating. Legion get their first hit on multiple survivors quite easy. And then they only need to hit you once to down you. One mistake and you are gone. It probably felt like pig with perma exposed on them or something like that.
And about omega blink Nurse. Everybody knows that this AddOn combo is too strong. And the devs will most likely nerf it, when Nurse gets an AddOn rework with UR etc. one day.

  • I'm not gonna buy it. And won't use shards for it. I will wait and see, how the game performs on my low spec computer and how balancing Legion will go.

  • @Immersed_P3_Nea said:
Has it been confirmed that it’ll be released for ALL consoles tomorrow? Or are console players going to have to wait?

Nothing has been confirmed yet. McCote wrote something about the update hitting this week and the PTB got closed. But we don't know when and which platforms will get the update and when. We jus tneed to be patient.

  • DbD has Bill as a Steam exclusive. Putting out DbD on the Epic Games store would mean, that that version won't have him like consoles, I think. And it's very dangerous trying to move your current established playerbase towards a new store, if even possible.
Maybe Behavior might consider an additional release for other stores as well. But complete switch would be a NoGo. Like said, you can't switch from one day to another without considering you userbase. DbD on Steam is fine as it is.
Yes, they get less revenue share, but Steam also allows developers to generate keys to sell elsewhere at no cut to Steam IIRC. What people sometimes forget, that it's not just the revenue share, that a store offers. They also offer a certain service and features. And I think Steam is fine and doing well for Behaviour.

  • @Delfador said:
Not for all killers but it could be a feature of a future killer.

The legion was a good candidate but I don't think they will ever add a third person killer to the game.

Well the only have an "average" and "huge" size for the killer's right now. Maybe if they will ever do a Killer, which is technical small, they could go third person with them.
Btw Third-Person for Killers gives them the disadvantage in a chase judging when they hit. Their body is most likely blocking their view. That's why I'm quite fine with the current setup. A small Killer on the other hand might not have that issue...

  • The main issue with viability on rank 1 is, that after the emblem changes in the past, people that play often automaticly land on the red ranks. Which kinda makes "all killer viable at rank 1". Mostly because red ranks only means people that play often. That can be good and efficient survivors, which beat almost every killer, but there are also a good bunch of bad ones. So it's a gamble what you get as a killer and most of the time, you get unefficient ones. And that's why all killers feel viable at rank 1.

Which doesn't mean they are all viable against top tier survivors.

Anyone who's gonna buy the DLC with expectations gained only from watching the cinematic trailer aren't people who made a smart purchase.

Yeah, but the trailer was shown at the game awards, meant to make an impression on potential new players. I can remember watching the easy allies reaction and while they were impressed about the first commercial trailer with all the dlcs, the second one was called underwhelming. And on another one people assumed that killer can blend in as survivor.

  • Steam is planning a winter sale around Dec 20th, I think. Normally DbD is always part of sales. So wait for that one.

Spirit already was launched in a way they didn't intended and basicly finished balancing wise with the MidChapter patch. A few weeks after that Spirit DLCs was already in sale.
Legion looks like they won't be properly balanced befor MidChapter. And who knows how fast the next DLC might get in sale as well. No I will sit this one out. I'm too unsatisfied with recent killer designs. Even the AddOns are quite boring mostly simple value changing ones.

  • Nice list. Even if I don't 100% agree with LF and Pigs placement. Pig always feels like Wraith Tier to me and LF. Yes, he needs some buffs and QoL changes and a complete AddOn rework. But I would never put him on the same level as Freddy and Legion, because he can down people. And there are smart ways to play with his ability. Besides that his instadowns make him deadly in "unsafe zones". LF is all about positioning and he greatly benefits from perks like Spirit Fury, pallet and vault changes. And sometimes survivors have to force a vault hit to even get to the next looping spot. I know LF is not great, but I feel like the community is a little bit underestimating him lately. Which I understand, because Bubba needs love.
It's just, that I don't think he is near the level of Freddy and Legion, because those two killers, have serious issues, where their base power hinders them.

  • My first thought was: Okayish changes, but doesn't fix issues like survivors not healing against Legion etc. The fact that downing decent survivors is way too hard, while getting a frenzy hit is too easy. I know Legions design is based on getting easy first strikes, but really I only see issues with that. Has too many chances for frustration.

    Hello

We think that Perks should mostly affect your M1 mode as a killer and not buff your power (to a certain extend at least)

Question: the Legion can't benefit from the exposed status effect on survivors while using their power, but the Nurse can. The Nurse is well known for being in absolute the strongest killer, and if there is one whose power is a "free hit" it's her. What's the logic behind this?
I can understand the potential to hit 4 survivors in one frenzy would make NOED and Devour Hope OP, but wouldn't be enought to add the condition that downing a survivor ends the frenzy?

    Hello

Our reasoning is because it's very much too easy to get a hit with the Legion power, compare to the Nurse. NOED with his power is simply the end of the game and felt very unfair.

I can undersrand if you don't want a killer on a similar level with the Nurse when using NOED or DH. Still, I find it strange that one of Legion perks gives the exposed status if he can't fully utilize it since they should not use their power and would just get looped until the effect expires thanks to the "lower" speed. I think the exposed effect should still do something.

I think Legion can't search lockers while in frenzy. So quick jumping into a locker to avoid a frenzy hit, might be a way to avoid DW, because you can safely jump out while Legion is stunned by their ability and will most likely only get a one time hit.
I guess for such situations, iron maiden is a counter. Even though it doesn't make that much sens. Otherwise frenzy gives Legion a decent mobility. When they see iron maiden to be triggered, they might be able to sprint with frenzy close to the survivors and get the hit. Maybe...

Actually during the Frenzy you can do everything except breaking pallets, even pick up downed survivors and opening lockers.

Ah ok. Then only the second scenario makes sense. Using iron maiden to track survivors and frenzy to get there in time. Very situational.

And I thought DW are more like RBT traps. There is a thread, but it's only there to give you a reason dealing with it and waste your time.

We have no plan to alter his base movement speed, not at the moment at least. His Frenzy is basically a free hit, him being at normal killer speed was very problematic during development and very unbalanced. There are a few tweaks coming on him for the live update. These will be announced soon by NotQueen. Stay tuned, thank you!

  • @Orion said:

It has EVERYTHING to do with it.

If the killer wants to catch the survivor, they will cstch them. It's only a matter of time - outside of maybe a rank 1 survivor going against a rank 15 killer.

So the game gived you the advantage to catch them, then you sit there and say "right pal, the game is over for you. You can sit there for 2 minutes until you're dead".

If they got spotted early enough then chances are they didn't even get to do anything in the game beyond touched a gen for 10 seconds.

That person is willing to play the game with you. They're allowing you to take the power role over them and in return you're turning around and screwing them over. They get no points and depip because you wouldn't give them a chance.

No it's not fair. Always seems to be the same people defending it too.

If you don't have anything to say that is relevant to this thread, you can start your own. This thread is about whether or not camping is fair. The difficulty in catching a Survivor has nothing to do with it.

You are literally using the fact that a once hooked survivor has failed a chase as an argument. Of course it has something to do with it. But really it doesn't matter, because if we are honest you didn't make this thread to have a discussion. You are hear to maka a statement that camping is ok by giving biased reasons.

The thing is fairness is a subjective feeling and in the core of DbD, the killer IS the power role and understood as such. Yes I know the map design is designed against the killer, but there is good reason why killer's complain when game mechanics don't make them feel like beeing that power role.
But going back to this. The core mechanic of the game is, that a survivor has two hook phases, with two possible rescues in mind. Basicly two chances. This is the core idea of the game. If a killer decides to camp, then they decide to take away that chance, by standing around you.
And that is the reason why people say it's unfair. Because it feels that way. It feels cheap and annoying for the person perceiving it. It's the equivalent of a football/soccer game, when one team after scoring their first goal, stop any offensive attemps and fall back on a simple defensive strategy. It's reliable, allowed but like I said. It makes the game boring. And why are we playing DbD again? To be frustrated or to be entertained?

And to be quite honest. The way hooks work in this game is kinda the thing that hurts killer the most. Camping and Tunneling are annyoing but very effecient strategies. And the Devs always have to keep them in mind while designing something. Not that they dislike it beeing used, but they don't want it to be the only working strategy in the game. They even said that about the sabotage changes, that they want more Sabo-squads, but don't want only sabo squads in the game. It should happen from here and there. And that's it.
And that's probably why they did something like the healing changes, from which a killer mostly benefits the game, if they spread the pain.

Let it play out and see for yourself.

Survivors can also hide behind a gen or if possible try to get within 40m to avoid it like they are already doing. The sum of possible conters is, why this change will negatively affect BBQ. After this BBQ will most likely lose it's entire concept of giving you an overview over the entire game situation. An aspect a killer always benefits from.

hiding behind a gen doesnt work, as any killer can tell you, the gen and survivor auras are different colours so you can still see them.
Also if people are relying on this 1 perk to 'sasve them' then they need to challenge themselves to get better at the game.
I've been in games where the killer DID NOT run BBQ and chilli and still annihilated us. Proves it is NOT needed to get a 4k.

Hiding behind gens work, if you are hiding in the right angle. Especially on the PTB/engine update, were auras are kinda thicker outlined giving you more space to hide.
And besides that BBQ isn't a game safer. It's usefull. How often do I see survivors complain that a pure bp perk like WGLF feels underwhelming and useless within a trial? BBQ and it's aura reading is so popular, because it gives you bp and an effect that's useful, not op.

Your post is missing example, I shall provide one

    https://clips.twitch.tv/FlirtyPoliteBatteryBatChest

The problem with this example is that's quite specific. Yes it works here on the gate. But keep in mind that frenzy was used against an already running survivor in a quite open area in a race towards the gate. The block worked because the killer started the race from an angle that allowed to block the survivor.
In many scenarios survivors could use safe/loop spots to prevent the killer from getting infront of them and block.
And keep in mind as soon as the survivor got you into a looping scenario you either try to catch them in that one with 110% movement speed or try to pull a block off again. It's clearly a strategy you can't rely 100% all the time.
Besides that a killer and their power aren't meant to force you into one specific playstyle. Wraith can bodyblock with AddOns too, but that's just one possible strategy. Legions playstyles feel either cheap or way frustrating to pull off.

And to all fairness, even one of the Devs told us in the forum that the core intention of this killer was, that you have an advantage in getting first hits and an disadvantage for the second. Problem is in the current state of the game balancing in this two modes is off. First so much guaranteed that survivors don't see much sense in healing themselfs. Second is too much as well, that decent survivor can loop Legion to hell with their low movement speed.

  • Visit their website. You can find all kinds of timezones there.

  • Yeah shelter woods is very underwhelming degins wise. Everything feels like standard building and stuff. The one big tree in the middle doesn't really make it feel that unique. Putting the clowns carneval stuff in there might be an interesting change towards the map.

Why so salty? It wasn't THAT good. Except on Billy/Nurse.

It's good for game awareness. Even on a normal speed killer it gave you an idea what other survivors are doing by now. And it gives a direction where to move next.. Yes, people might "outplay" it, but even then you can be certain in which areas survivors were and have it easier to refind them.
Besides that I would say that most survivor that you see working on gens will stay there. Why? Because they have SB, can do some progress while you are approaching and don't mind to be chases, if they have safe areas in reach.

  • I think it was mentioned that it might have been a side effect of the engine update. So it doesn't necessarly mean that something VR related is coming soon.

  • @Wolf74 BT doesn't apply on the unhooker anymore. If somebody makes an unsafe unhook and you go for the unhooker, then you don't have to deal with BT. So it doesn't encourage hookrushing that much, because to be safe as an unhooker you must somehow achieve to unhook unharmed at least.
On the other hand BT still gurantees to get full 1500 Bp for careless farming. And with the BT changes it buffs the situation for farmed survivors. So if a survivor careless farms people they can do it without spoiling the game for all the other survivors, especially the unhooked who gets at least a chance to run away or stall the killer in a chase. But I doubt this makes the situation that much more comfortable for the unhooked survivor.

  • Will be most likely be paid, but wait until the dlc is in sale. Compared to other chapters Spirit was on sale really fast like 6 or 7 weeks after she came out. It used to be that the latest chapters never went on sale, but this seems to be a thing of the past from now. So who knows. Maybe you can already get the chapter cheaper ont he winter sale.

He also appears to counter pallet loops by being able to vault a pallet or a window as fast as a survivor can, if not faster, while his power is active. His other perks, "Discordance" and "Iron Maiden", seem designed to counter cooperation between survivors to finish gens quickly, and hiding in lockers, respectively. Both of which are things that have been complained about by killers a lot. It's a PTB, so it goes without saying that there are going to be things that need adjusting and improving, but overall in terms of basic mechanics I would call this a win for the killers.

Perks aren't that important discussing the killers power, if the go hand in hand. that's nice. But we are talking about the base power of the killer. And at the moment Legion can only counter pallet loops with their frenzy for getting a debuff hit. For downing a survivor they have basic chase with 110% movement speed. And that's a little bit the problem. The power can be good at stalling the game if you hit multiple survivors with it. On the other hand. But chasing a survivor with that speed... I mean have you ever looped a huntress without her hatchets? Even if she would one shot you the additional time survivors get through looping, is basicly they time the killer gets for stalling.
Like many said Legion and the Deep Wounds effect just feel a little bit underwhelming right now. We can argue people haven't unleashed the full potential of the killer yet. But don't forget that survivors haven't figured out how to play efficiently against them yet. Some people are already looping and stunning Legion while in frenzy.

Very Rarely some stuff like the Spirit coming out of Haunting or A doctor Shocking could cause heavy FPS drops. But it was always playable. In PTB I have Problems going over 50 FPS. And during killer gameplay it can drop down to 36 during a chase.

  • I doubt that you can do that much against PTB trolling. I don't know when but from PTB to next playing regular matches on it became harder and harder. So most people will probably just play KYF, test out the new things and move on to the live build to grind for the new content. And I understand it. Sometimes you even have to grind BP to fully try out builds on different killers or survivors e.g. Back August it took me a couple of days until I was able to try out Spirit Fury on a wraith build e.g. And things might be similar.
So I understand when people decide to go witht he game mode which allows them to try out everything in a controlled environment and not care about the "ptb ranked" mode. Which gives more space for people who troll, etc. And let's not forget the wait times. Most people will prefer to try out the new killer. So long killer queues...

  • There is no exact date or time. Sometime this week. Nothing more is known. Just be patient. Official channels will inform you when the PTB live.

  • NOED is a strange thing. Personally I have barely issues with it. It's a pwerful counterable perk. That's for sure. And has a high chance for a killer to secure at least one kill during the endgame.
On the other hand, I really hate how much it rewards killers who camp. As soon as a killer turns out to have a camper strategy, survivors have to focus on gens, doing them as fast as possible to secure their own survival. Problem is, that this means you can't do totems and most of the time the killer's camped victim is sacrificed when the gens are powered and they are either in a chase or have already hooked the second guy. In some cases the second guy might be already almost dead, if the killer had actually short chases.
And situations like this NOED can feel like an annoying crutch. Because now the killer can decide to leave and might be able to catch somebody who opens a gate offguard with NOED and turn the whole thing into a potential three kill or four kill, if the survivors don't check it early enough that the killer is actually leaving the hook. I know camping is a reliable strategy. But there is a good reason why it feels cheap from a survivors perspective, especially combined with NOED.

  • Probably just for the little bit of BP you get for selfhealing. And maybe people just feel better leaving the trail healed.

  • Restart Steam. It will take you a few times, but you will be able to login eventually.

Survivors have never been teased before, have they?

I would argue that they kinda teased Kate together with the Clown. But still they teased the Clown with her. So not really.

I wouldn't mind this map being deleted either. Though my reasons are different. I just think it is boring design.

I wouldn't call the map completely boring design wise. The large cornfield kinda gives it a visual appeal. The most boring map in my opinion is Shelter Woods. The large tree just doesn't make it feel unique and the rest are standard assets. It doesn't feel unique at all.

  • I use Spirit fury on my LF and it requires skill to use it. Pallets kinda become a ressource for you. If SF full you need t rethinkg if you can avoid destroying a thrown pallet. And you need to think twice before you force a pallet stun and SF. Even though you get rid of the pallet fast, it's not a guaranteed hit on a survivor depending on it's position. It's a perk I love to use on killers like him, who have another way to destroy pallets.

  • I wouldn't be surprised if the killers backstory might be somobody who was on a ski trip with his three friends who died in an accident and he got isolated, losing his sanity, started to take over their personalities or something like that. Yeah it's a wild guess. But I wouldn't be surprised if they go in that direction.

  • Also keep in mind that Thanksgiving in comparison to Halloween doesn't have such an international appeal. As a German I can tell we know that it exists and it's an important day in the US. But that's it. No reson to celebrate it as well.

  • Hag is already inspired by wendigo if you look at her physical appearance and that she is always hungry for human flesh now. Spirit is kinda similar. She is obviously inspired by japanese Onryo stories. But still very original in her story and design.
Well we know that the new map looks like an abandonded Ski resort. And by the looks of it it's quite modern. Sadly we can't even say on which continent that ski resort might be. Could be Alpine, could be Scandinavia or some other mountains. My feeling is that the killer might be male and more a traditional slasher type of killer with a winter theme. Even though it might be possible that they went somehow with the "Mountain biest" kinda root and it turns out to be person that became some kind of biest through isolation and the power of the entity. But who knows.
It's just a lot possible right now.
