Question about dedicated servers
So they finally did it, and almost the entire community is happy about it! now my concern is how many servers and where would be located, because some places basically still suffer ping issues due to locating servers in just the normal areas ( NA, SA, EUW, EU EN, or EU in genera) and when it comes to Asia or Australia, Aussies hardly have their own and have to join either NA or EU, and Asia (( talking about the continent as a whole not just asian countries like KR, CH, JP etc )) and this will cause issue for example for middle eastern countries.
what do you guys think?
EDIT: Also will that mean they will be using VAC as well for servers? or an increase in security measures to prevent, and capture hackers?
Comments
Legit concern. I'm willing to bet they will have several regions though. It wouldn't make sense to NOT do that.
As far as hackers are concerned, dedi's should curb that since it would detect unauthorized changes to the game.
You know damn well that when it comes to players in Australia and New Zealand we are going to be screwed by the massive ping from EU and US servers.
@thesuicidefox I do hope this will end the era of hackers, or at least minimize it as best as they can, and that the ban for it will be instantly permanent, with no appeal to it.
@Arsoul Yes i have some friends from Australia who almost never seen a ping below 300 in their lives lol, and that makes me also concerned about my region as the closest thing to me would be EU with 130-170 ping always.
Halo was always impossible to play with the Ping, but MS only seemed to care about the US and the EU to a degree
Speaking from experience with Gears of War, they switched from p2p to dedi's in Gears 2 just before the Gears 3 beta went live (part of title update 6 which I call "Gears 3 alpha") and even though you still get match with people far away the connections were SIGNIFICANTLY better. Dedi's are way more stable than your private network and they work to even out the connection for all players. Meaning that even if your ping is high the server will even it out so that other players experience a similar ping, making it fair for everyone. It kinda sucks actually if you have good ping, because all that happens is your ping gets worse, but it's still better than relying on people to host games. I'd rather play Gears on west coast servers with 150+ ping than p2p.
Behavior isn't Ubisoft.
They can't afford to pump out servers en masse without charging for them.
Who the heck would pay monthly fees for DBD
Who the heck would pay monthly fees to rent dedicated clan servers for Betafield?
Someone has to pay. Devs never said that the dedicated servers will be free for us. Or at least i haven´t read anything about them being free.
death garden has no monthly fee and the devs know full well that this game would be dead within a month if monthly fees got introduced.
Death Garden is still Alpha.
The Alphas of WoW or Betafield also had no monthly fee...
So how many shooters and multiplayer games with no consistent world do you know that have a monthly fee outside of MMORPGs.
EA has money and still rented out the servers. Ubisoft doesn't do it. But Behavior isn't one of those big companies.
Do you really think they roll out something as expensive as dedicated servers with the current system? P2P doesn't cost them. But servers? That's a whole different story.
Why don't you reread all the information they released on that term. They never claimed it would be free for us.
Fees. That's my exact thought the moment they announced dedicated servers and everybody elsewhere went full creme fraiche all over the place. Servers aren't cheap, Behaviour is relatively small and, unless they have some kind of hidden scheme in their pockets ready to boost the player base considerably, that $$$ is gonna' have to come from somewhere. Doing away with Iridescent Shards and requiring everything to be bought with Auric Cells, turning pay-to-win and having top-notch add-ons or items only available for purchase in the shop and out of bloodwebs, raising DLC prices considerably, or the dreaded monthly fees... something will have to give. No way around that.
Then there's the constant server maintenance downtime like clockwork and all the outages that come out of left field...
Again it's not gonna happen unless they keep a peer to peer option which would basically split the playerbase. They'd kill their game through that.
I wouldn't doubt it would be a paid upgrade.
I don't think they could generate enough with the store to pay for the servers for years on end.
Maybe this will be the actual version 2 of DBD.
People can still play the old one.. or the more updated version 2.
Actually i will.
Seems you don't understand the benefits it will bring to our gameplay and improvements on game.

As we say here, we will reveal more information as we get closer to the release. Sadly for now we cannot answer your question.
Congratz on you and the other 10 ppl who have bad decision making skills.
Now what?
Hell, I even stopped playing DbD.
@Nickenzie now he is just a salty old man look at his avatar.
#########?
So either you're lying and salty af.
Or you quit and cant let other people enjoy it.
Grow tf up.
I absolutely Love this Post. Best Post all day.
I´m not high. What about you?
Do you think Behavior has infinite money? That they can afford to spend a ton of money every month, so YOU can get your free dedicated servers? Because those costs would kill the game in the long run, if they don´t change the way they finance their game.
Or i can have an opinion and use my brain. Instead of just cheering for a 10 second notification without ANY details.
You behave like the dedicated servers will solve every single problem the game has right now.
Believe me, them holding back on everything isn´t a good sign. I´ve been around for 2 years, with over 1000 hours. I´ve been let down by the devs more often than not. And if they don´t share more on that behalf, it´s because it won´t make people cheer.
If you dont like the game, feel free to not post here and pester people who do enjoy it.
Where did i contradict myself? Please show me
Btw, don´t try to tell people that they should stop posting here. Mods don´t like that
Then it changed to "if they give us servers for free and dont charge us for them, it will kill the game"
So is it free servers or charged servers that will kill the game?
Or maybe just your incessant need to argue with people on a forum for a game you supposedly dont play.
Learn to read before you try to get slick.
Feel free to keep repeating your parrot speech and toxicity. I'm out. I've made my point and you know it.
Stop being salty at the people who enjoy the game. Especially if you "dont play". Its just cancerous to the community.
This thread is so off topic at this point.
"😂 [1] LOL"
i will be dissapointed if the thing that finally makes me quit this game is the fact that there is no servers in my region
YOU said, that paid servers will kill the game. Probably because you think people won't pay for servers as a service they always asked for. Duh...
I said, that giving us those servers for free without changing the monetary system will kill the game. Because servers are expensive. If the players don't pay for it, the devs would have to take the money from somewhere else.
I wouldn't mind paying. But....games are expected to have dedicated servers, we're heading into 2019.
For Honor made their P2P to Servers without the charge after people like Crowbcat blasted them for not having dedicated servers.
It's almost dead.
That's my whole point.
Dude, there aren't going to be any monthly fees. Enough with the rumor starting. There is absolutely zero percent chance that this happens.
Do you even play games besides ######### DBD?
