  • Yeah can't wait for the patch notes to drop and the forum posts to start about how the Devs don't listen to their feedback.

You need to stop focusing on the killer winning and focus on gen times. The reason people show these vids is because when they show you videos of survivors popping 3 gens before the first chase the finishing the game in less than 5 minutes you say "well just apply pressure better"

Then we respond and show you a video of a killer keeping every survivor injured, them acting like potatoes, and chases ending in 5 seconds. Yeah of course the killer wins in those games. But the point is that even when those things happen survivors STILL can pop 3 gens in the first 2 minutes before the killer can even find and down the first survivor.

Those games aren't the norm. Typically it takes 20-30 seconds to find then first survivor with a 20-30 second chase and the a 10-15 second hook and oh look 3 gens popped.

What you show makes your whole point irrelevant.

You said it yourself, those aren't the norm. If it isn't the norm, then start showing the other ones where you get trounced with all the gens popping in 4 to 5 minutes and they escape with the killer unable to do much while playing as hard as they can.

    --

Cause that one... Shows a Spirit crushing those survivors very easily.

If anything what this proves is killers have been condition to believe, if 2 gens pop before you get your first survivor hooked, means you've lost. That didn't even happen in the video cause 2 were on the hook in the basement before the first 2 gens popped.

Killers are also been condition to believe they should kill all 4 or it isn't a win.

The mentality needs to change. This post just reinforces that conditioning that exists with many killer players.

  • K... So you show a video of what?... A spirit without ruin killing all 4 survivors with 3 gens still left.

So what are you trying to point out here? Cause whoever made the video had to play harder?... What was stressful?.. That 2 gens popped when there was 2 in the basement on the hooks? Did they get the feeling they lost the match when that was happening?

Am I supposed to listen to some garbage narrative of that video to understand something I'm missing here?

I love the evidence people keep putting up on these forums about the Ruin nerf, meanwhile they still kill over 3 or more survivors... LUL... Survivors were potatoes is always the reasoning for it too... HAHA.

I do open the door. And I keep practicing my parking around some loops.

I just think it still too long.

You can see that everything they do, they pull back a notch to avoid FrUsTrAting the survivors.

Doc doesn't have to change stance anymore = here's a 3 sec cooldown to replicate it.

4 minutes is nothing compared to rounding up the sheep and pushing them out the door for 10 minutes. Once EGC starts, if you had a bad match, stop, go get a drink or washroom break and it will be over shortly.

    --

They changing the 3 second cooldown... It has already been plastered around the forums by Peanits and Almo.

But think that's the frustration some killers have.

They get outplayed, 5 man escape, no freebies.

They outplay the survivors, survivors get a free escape cause of keys.

Lost count of how many times I got a terrible map, manage to push survivors into a 3 gen situation, just to have them found a random key and escape.

Been on both sides of that.... As a survivor that crap is funny... Means I don't have to play out a 20 plus minute match, cause the killer wants to sit on some gens squeezing everything they can get out of them.

As a killer, you sometimes get survivors giving up cause there is no way out, so they come to you to be hooked and killed. They don't want to sit in a 20 plus minute match either.

Sometimes you do get freebies as killer.

  • @Sylorknag said:

My issue with EGC is that it last for soooo long.

Survivors still take the game hostage cause they just 99 de gates. They still hang around till the EDC is on its last sec.

We a beat the killer in a heavily survivor balanced game, gotta meet at the gate to teabag him and show off our dominance.

Then go open the door to start it...

It only last 4 minutes unless you don't do anything and then it is 2 minutes.

You don't have to go to the gate at the end... If they don't leave they die. Go around looking for unbroken pallets and get some points.

Should be renamed to survivors can't get 5 gens done in under 5 mins time to nerf something tbh

or survivors aren't having fun time to nerf

Don't have to get 5 gens done anymore... Just wait for the hatch... with the key I looted from the chest in the basement.

The thing is, I would already 4K'ed if it didn't had a key, there was gens left. And you really sound like a default survivor main that only cares for himself

However you already won by killing the other 3... Dang eh?... Lost one survivor.

    @Sylorknag said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1013379#Comment_1013379

Well... We don't get any freebies at the end of the game if we didn't manage to fulfill our objective.

5 gens done. There's no cheese lever that kills at least one survivor.

Sometimes you just get outplayed in a match... Not the end of the world.

  • GAH!!!

EGC is one of the best things ever to be in the game... Someone already mentioned why.

By giving survivors a chance to save, gives the killer a chance for more hooks.... What else is the killer gonna do? Is the killer just watching the survivor get unhooked and standing there waving goodbye?

I'm honestly not sure why your trying to disparage what I'm saying. Im telling BHVR to prioritize fixing their game and making more ethical desicions instead of screwing players because of corporate interests. A message that would benefit everyone, from the company themselves, to the players direct experience.

I don't want to write a novel in responding...

I don't want to say your post is garbage, cause it is ok to be upset about something you like being changed in the game and to voice that opinion... but... It is a weird way to do it saying the game isn't going to be successful.... Like the game was release yesterday or something.

    ---

As a veteran player I'm all for the change if it makes newer players happier, and helps them stay in the game and not be as frustrated. It isn't like their won't be other changes... some will be better.. some will be worse.

    --

ethical decisions... screwing players.... corporate interests..... silly.

I'm really been finding the forums as a treasure trove of hilarity the last week or so once that ruin change was announced. I've never seen so many fascinating posts going on about nonsense, trying to hide their true intention stating... "THEY CHANGED MY RUIN! WHAT AM I GOING TO DO?"

  • Nah... Lessen the power of DS, you increase the power of tunneling.

  • If that was a 4man SWF then that lobby isn't a problem. So where they are 4 man or no?

I still don't understand why people think match making will ever get better with SWF in the game?

Not saying they can remove SWF, but how do you think it would ever get better?

    HOW?

Combine the rank reset not moving people down in rank enough, with match making using the highest ranked survivor in the lobby... How is match making ever going to get better?

This makes no sense. If killer was more popular, killer wait times would be longer and survivor shorter. You said the opposite is happening. And if ruin pushes more people to survivor side, how will that help survivor que times?

Queue times are all over the map... for example... 2 nights ago I got instant queues for killer at rank 17 then last night its take 3-5 minutes again...

So you can't really tell by queue times anymore. This was just a general feeling over the time I've played this game. Ruin change hasn't even happened yet, so nobody really know how it will affect queues..

I personally don't think it will... The handful of whiners who can't handle a perk change will be back to what they were doing before the change once they relax and realize it wasn't that big of a deal anyways.

If Killer was more popular, wouldn't that mean longer queues for killer and shorter queues for survivors?

In comparison to years ago... yes. It is more noticeable when there is special events, their queue times increase quite a bit.

You don't usually see a rush of people playing PTB to play the latest survivor as you do the latest killer. The whole game is about the killers, not the survivors, and I think the more licensed killers have brought in more people playing those killers and killer in general.

I think now what we see is a match making system which isn't functioning as intended, so it is hard to get a feel on what is actually going on.

    --

There is too much flux in players at the moment with people being upset about certain aspects.. people switching sides due to crappy queue times on both sides.

  • @Yung_Slug said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1009134#Comment_1009134

You certainly made it hard to tell, considering how mean-spirited your original post was, but if you actually want to have a discussion then I'm all for it. There have been posts from survivors complaining about long queue times already, and 3 to 5 minutes is pretty long considering killer queues from rank 10 and below are nearly instant (though you'll almost always be matched with red rank survivors once you hit green ranks).

I believe the problem is not just that killer is becoming less popular, but mainly that both the ranking system and the matchmaking is broken, which causes the whole thing to be extremely broken overall. It's too easy to rank up as Survivor. You can pretty much run whatever perks you want and still do well. I literally healed just one survivor in a game today and I got iridescent benevolence that game. This creates too many rank 1 potatoes, meaning not only frustration from experienced survivors but also not enough killers for all of these red rank survivors.

The devs should prioritize the matchmaking issues before making balance changes because you're not going to get good data with rainbow lobbies. New survivors shouldn't be matched up with killers who have Ruin, except hags, because by the time they level hag to 35 and get that perk on another killer they shouldn't be rank 20 anymore.

If the queues were still like they were in the beginning of December... I'd be the first one here crapping on the forums about it, since I've been doing it in the past since the new Match Making system came in, which replaced the Match Making that was giving me instant queues for both sides not matter what rank I was.

    --

The issue as I see it is Killer became too popular. You could see it when special events were started and players all switched to killer since getting more BP during those events was easier than grinding it out on survivor.

Killer side actually has gotten way better over the last year or so. I never touched killer for the first 2 years cause of all the crap that went along with it.

That is why I see changes such as Ruin only a good thing. Since it might return some players to the Survivor side.. and again removes BS from the game and makes it overall more enjoyable.

    --

Match Making will never be fixed because of SWF.

    --

Well as for potato survivors in the high ranks. Survivor has to be easy to rank up. They had made it harder to rank up as survivor and that led to long queue times for red rank killers. Survivors are expected to die... Make it tough for them, why bother wasting the time on it.

  • Cause then you'd have no survivors that would be interested in playing a game where you have no chances.

Everyone would want to play killer since it would be too easy since the concept of "trying" would be out the window... and everything would be just a single M1 click away.

  • First I was like.jpg

Geez this post... Killer players playing "relatively fair"... or unfair... cause of a perk.... ok.

So basically no different than it is now.

  • @chase131119 said:

I believe it actually has to do with the SWF change. OhTofu made a great video on it.

That was when the queue took their first big dump... When the change was set to take the highest ranking survivor in the SWF lobby. That was noticeable right when that change went live. Queues doubled and were worse the lower the rank you were, as killer. Then high ranking survivor queues got long cause there wasn't enough killers now.

    --

The Devs have loosened the Match Making restrictions.. thats why we see so many mis matched lobbies now.. but at least we aren't waiting over 10 minutes for a killer lobby at rank 16... or over 20 minutes at rank 20.

    --

The queues for survivor in the high ranks are still feeling the shortage of the killers cause of SWF.

SWF is has been ruining match making since the beginning cause where do you put them in the match making when a rank 2 groups up with their rank 18 friend.

  • Actually not really bait. Over I'd say the last few weeks my survivor queue at rank 5 takes about the same it did in the beginning of December ... can take 3 to 5 minutes. However the queue times for Killer actually got better, rank 16. They used to be over 10 minutes.. but there's been a few nights where they are instant or only a couple of minutes.

Not saying the matching has been perfect but it hasn't been great either.

The OPs post is basically about the ruin change and how it is making the queues longer, since there must be allot of killer quitting.

But to be honest I'm not seeing it, and I'm near Toronto.

I think you are missing the point. I don't care what the survivors objective is, Its the fact that they escape with putting no effort in. They do not deserve the escape at all and its like a killer getting a 2k while being AFK.

They should just rework how the last survivor escapes, i don't know how they would do that but currently the hatch rewards horrible gameplay.

Also in order for the killer to kill the last survivor they have to put in effort but the survivor can do nothing and they still "deserve" the escape, nice double standard.

Well I guess if you just play one side of the game you might see it as a double standard. Where I see it as part of playing the game.

  • @Leachy_Jr said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1008317#Comment_1008317

This isn't about the "objective", this is about playing the game and what is deserved and what isn't deserved. Just because its the survivors objective to survive doesn't make it any less BS that they literally did NOTHING all game (despite being the power role) and still survived.

So make the game worst for the last survivor... Gotcha...

You do know they changed ruin because it was making it frustrating and unfun for newer players.

What in the world would ever make you think the Devs are going to hand the killer the 4th survivor without putting in the effort for it?

The game just doesn't revolve around one player in the game.

    --

The objective matters when people harp on how it is the killer's objective to kill the survivors, when it is the survivors objective to escape. How the survivor escapes is up to the survivor, regardless of how little they do in the match.

  • My queues have gotten better, if still not the same time, over the last month, last month they felt quite a bit longer.

It isn't a matter of fact that he didn't slug. Hes complaining about that the survivor did literally nothing and got an escape. Imagine if the killer did nothing but got a 2k anyway, completely undeserved. Whats even worse is that survivors are the power role, they SHOULD be punished if they ######### up, now rewarded.

In my opinion the hatch should just go altogether, its a really bad mechanic that rewards horrible gameplay. It would also rework keys which we know are busted.

The survivors objective is to survive. Getting that objective done means doing several things such as... working on gens... doing totems... escape chases... make saves... healing... hiding...

The hatch mechanic is there to give the last survivor a last fleeting chance to escape, if the other teammates fail in working to get their objective done.

    --

People have this idea gens are the objective.

Surviving is the survivors main and only objective. The match itself is the means to accomplish that objective.

I understand what you mean, but its often is not a race to find it, but rather survivior either having a headstart or RNG giving a win to 1 of the sides immediately...

I don't want a free kill, I would like a fair competition. Something needs to chsnge about the way hatch spawns

Depends on when it spawns... once the 3rd survivor dies on the hook... then the hatch will spawn, so at that point both survivor and killer are freely moving around. Even if it spawns during the match, you can be lucky as the killer and find it while chasing someone.

Do you really slug for the 4k these days? You can literally play an entire extra match in the time it takes to try and find the 4th survivor.

I only slug the 3rd if I need to get a challenge or achv done. Otherwise I just hook them and see what happens.

  • @Archimedes5000 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1006885#Comment_1006885

Why? Because it forces toxic plays. I remember when I tried to get my first 4k. I played Wraith, rank 16 or so. EVERY time I had 3 rank 17-16, and a one rank 10-8. I got 2 kills, 3-4 gens done, I hook the 3rd person.... aaand the last guy leaves. He went for the hatch immediately after he saw me catch the 3rd guy. What I had to do to get the 4k, was get NOED, slug the 3rd person and proxy camp the slug and gates until the last guy appears. Wow, so exciting.

Some thing happens at 5 gens too, but in this case killer gets less points for chases and such, because game ends too quickly.

I dont think getting 3k or 4k should depend purely on hatch RNG, forcing killers to slug and drag out the game. And dont forget that unbreakable exists to counter slugging too. Having the slug bleed out because of iron will or sound bug is not fair either.

So you did what you were supposed to do... slug the 3rd and went after the 4th. That is how you play that if you really want a good "chance" to get the 4K.

Or you take another chance, go hook the survivor and then go after the 4th, risking they escape.

Depends how you play it if you want it to be exciting or not. If you don't like to slug take the more riskier route. Be more satisfied at the end knowing they had a chance... and still lost.

    --

What is being asked for is basically a free 4K at the end, without having to put forth the risk or effort of getting it. Just like not wanting to give a free escape for the survivor.

It is up to the killer on how they wish to play it out... Do they try and secure the 4K taking a less riskier route, or go all honor and glory and give the little rabbit a chance, but still crushing them.

  • @Archimedes5000 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1006709#Comment_1006709

What about granting points towards Devout emblem for every hatch escape? 2 points at 5 generators remaining, 1 at 4 generators remaining. (It doesn't have to be the exact numbers) This way survivior gets points for escape and keeps items normally, but killer is not punished so hard for it.

Keep in mind that the last survivior often runs away as soon as it sees its last teammate get caught, so it can hide from the killer before the killer hooks and kills the 3rd person, giving him more time to find hatch.

Another problem are higher rank surviviors in games with weak teammates. Once the strongest survivior notices that they are about to lose, it leaves his teammates to die, and quickly finds the hatch to immediately escape as soon as it opens. Situations like these are bad not only for the killer, but also for the abandoned surviviors.

Why would you reward the killer for not killing the last survivor? The killer blew it.

If they choose to go all sweaty and slug the 3rd survivor... and hunt for the 4th, why would they get rewarded for the slugged bleeding out and not catching the 4th survivor. They didn't take a chance.

    --

Then in the high ranks... Why should the last survivor be punished because they were good enough to hide for the hatch and not get caught like the others on the team?

Wow youre....oblivious. Telling someone to KNOW the outcome of RNG before it's even implemented that game, as a counterplay....oof.

Especially considering if you're on opposite sides of the map and it spawns under the survivor, there is no way to counter luck/RNG from 100 yards.

"Find it first is the counterplay" is like saying "dont get seen by spirit" is a counterplay. Or "dont let the killer hook someone" is a counterplay to BBQ.

I'm out. Good luck, mr or ms brick wall.

It has the same counter play for the survivor... Find it first.

Seems like an even playing field in my eyes. Neither side really has the advantage since neither of you know exactly where it is.

Thing is, they often leave their teammates to die on the floor. How am I supposed to find someone who just keeps walking from locker to locker you dumb dumb?

Well then you didn't earn it, cause you didn't find them.

Now imagine that if the hatch didn't spawn. Read what Peanits said.

    @Carpemortum said:

The hatch doesn't have counter play. Especially at 0 gens since you dont even see it yet. It could LITERALLY spawn under the killer or survivor.

Even if you did, what counterplay is there?

    Finding it first?

Wasting 4 trapper traps on it so they can still wall around them?

Slug to look for it? And then sit on it while they heal the downed slug?

Theres no counterplay, because it's not a play to begin with. It's a literal random exit, to help end the game before someone decides to sit for 45 mins.

Survivor finds it? They leave. Gg.

Killer finds it? They close it, EGC starts. Gg.

It does what it should, but saying "just counterplay the hatch" is a bit ridiculous.

That is the counter play... Finding it first.

If you just stand there and do nothing they escape... so you better find it first.

  • Love it... nice.

OP comes in... asks for some friendly advice. People throw out a couple of ideas to help, being nice to the OP.

@Pythonheir Stomps in... Insults everyone while giving their advice.

Sorry for replying in the thread OP.

    First I was like.jpg

  • Faster match making.

  • I usually don't notice till after the match... but I don't mind the streamers... If they are live then I can go back and watch the match to see how bad I was and maybe learn to play better.

  • Well you are "newer" so you probably don't have the best/teachable perks for Freddy...

Freddy created the Forever Freddy build... which can double the length of a match and make it excruciatingly boring.

Just image using Freddy with the new Ruin, Surveillance, Dying Light, Thana and rope and chains....

Nobody is going to get anything done.

  • Cause it wouldn't have matter, the killer mains would have ignored it and still come on here to complain.

    happydog.png

  • If the killer does poorly, then your emblems will suffer. Since your friend took the chase for so long, you didn't have any interaction with the killer, plus little healing and saving been done.

    --

Kind of like a killer who rushes the game and kills all 4 survivors really fast, without letting any unhooks and one shots everyone. They do poorly in the emblems as well.

    --

If you are trashing your opponent(s), you need to let off the noose a bit and take more chances, since your opponents are poor.

  • Should have slugged the 3rd to get the 4th.. Don't complain just cause you weren't good enough to get that last survivor in the 4 minutes it took for the 3rd to bleed out.

    The hatch has counter play.

You aren't entitled to have a 4K... You have to earn it.

    Wicked Baby.png

  • Eh it won't matter anyways... Once a few of those killer mains try to gen rush and get hosed down by the killer quickly, they will go back to playing killer on ez street.

Then they will lose a bunch of matches as killer and realize they weren't any good, and will fall into their proper rank.
