Tyde's Tier list is what it is, an opinion. And yes he might be a popular streamer who plays the game on a regular basis, it doesn't mean that his Tier list is the ultimate truth.
I'm with many. Disagreeing with his positioning and putting int he Tier list. I'm not even sure if it makes sense to make so many differen tiers actually. Recent killer buffs really put many midtier killers closer together I think. But that's only an opinion too.
Funny is, I always think tha tLF is underestimated by the community. Yes, he needs buffs. His power is straightforward and be denied by vaults and pallets and certain objects. But still he has an alternate Way to destroy pallets, and he punishes bad positioning quite well. That's probably why I think he benefit the most from the exhaustion change. -

Be careful with what you wish for. It could become real.People asked for the removal of region lock, because they had long queue times. Then it got removed and now the very same people complain about lag.
Dedicated servers might not even be possible. Since the game was never designed for it. It was designed for p2p.
Could be hardcoded.
But even IF it were possible. Are you sure that behavior will have servers in your region? You might end up with even higher ping, since you life somewhere far away from a server.Thing is many mechanics in this game have become more vulnerable towards lags. Vaults, palettets, the inclusion of DH e.g. Even Nurse blinks can appear awkward through lagspikes. And the worst problem is that the ingame ping indicator isn't very reliable. I got matched with killers that had green ping in the lobby and then suddenly lagged the entire game or some who caused lag each time they swinged a hit. Or some people some killer might not live alone and somebody else might causes lags by starting a heavy upload, etc.
People talk so often about balancing this game out. But the thing is, how are you supposed to balance a game, in which the timings of certain actions aren't even 100% consistence? Yes, people can kind adjust a little bit with their timing, if the killer is lagging, but that isn't really a solution. So I can understand why people are wishing for dedicated servers at this point. The majority of the playerbase would most likely benefit from it, while those people who would live farer away from a server might be a small part and probably already have to deal with high pings anyway.
The only big argument against is, are the costs to get to that point. Like you said P2P might be hardcoded into the game. Just thinkg about certain KYF bugs, which seem to happen, when the host isn't playing the killer, I think. Getting the game on servers would take ressource, which might not be available. Maybe they can adjust the netcode to get rid of some specific issues at least. But I feel like something needs to be done to adress lags. -
WGLF truelly needs some changes. Still even today I'm afraid, when other survivors run it, because they have a tendency for careless fast hook farming. So I think the first usefull change should be that you need a safe unhook for getting a stack. It wouldn't prevent hookfarming 100%, because I already saw farmers running BT to ensure they get their BP.
As a secondary effect. I agree the perk needs one. But like BBQ it should be something to play with it in a certain way. I personally thing it should somehow indicate if a hook is safe or not. So either it's like kindred revealing the aura of the killer to you if they are close to the hook or just give you a visual indication, if the hooked survivor is withint he killers terror radius. I guess that would make the perk more bareable. As for BBQ: The perk works well and as intended mostly. No reason to change it. Except maybe that a killer shouldn't be able to track a slugged survivor with it.That was never the intention of this perk.
-
Kinda hyped. Loved to have some kind of mountain snow map a long while ago and an abandonded ski resort is really something I'm digging. Now we only need a pyromaniac killer sometime in the future and I would be happy.

Your missing the point of why they put it on a timer.>
So it's only reliable on high mobility killers? And only usefull on three gen scenarios? Killers are already going against a time limit and under constrant stress. Timer based perks add more frustration and pressure on them and while it's quite justified on perks with exposed effect PGTW doesn't. -

Coming soon? Will come at the end of the month the ptb or the next one?
The freddy rework will be in ptb or we have to wait years?Considering everytime they mention freddy they specifically say they dont have dates but he will be the NEXT they work on, probably not ptb.
Yeah, that's sounds quite true. Considering the last Q&A it seems like they are still prototyping/testing potential changes internally, which sounds for me like the rework takes it time and we won't see it done this year.
-
It looks like the internal name of the next chapter is called Kny_Cottage. Which doesn't say that much. But at least something.
Also you can see them doing internal updates on the ptb environment in the Steamdb, which I guess means Soon TM. Maybe we might get a first teaser this week or next. It's just depends how their schedule is going.
We are just in that weird timefrime right close to a new chapter, but still to early for any kind of mentions or marketing. -
The main issue is that DbD is a game as a service product. So they have to keep use their ressources adjusting each patch and gameplay change for each platform.
And just take a look how the console versions are doing right now. They are just working optimizing for it. Adding an additional platform which an even weakier hardware might be just too much for the moment. -
The main issues with that statistic that it probably includes everything like 3vs1 games, heavy laggy games, overaltruism, sandbagging, farming other survivors etc. Typical issues, you face as a survivor.
The statstic would be more interesting, if it would be more detailed. like "how high is the survivor rate, if a killer camps and runs NOED" or survival rate of 3vs1 games etc. -

If you simply leave a game that isn't green, you will have zero problems. If you're walking into red games which sometimes you get excellent games, you're asking for it and have no one to blame. Some snakes are friendly, doesn't mean I'm gonna play with them all and get upset when I get bit.Green ping isn't a 100% indication, that you won't face latency issues or lagspikes. I live in central Europe and experience my fair share of them. And it's kinda annoying when you have suddenly to guess, if you can make the pallet drop or not, or when you get a vault hit 2 or 3 seconds after you left that vault spot. Or you experience serious lag eacht ime the killer tries to hit. And let's not start about Nurse and her animations, while or after blinking, which have a tendency to bug out as well. The worst hting I faced was a doctor, who had a green ping in the lobby and as soon as the game started everything horribly lagged the entire game...
If I'm quite honest to you the biggest isse survivors can complain about is the P2P/netcode issues. There is stuff that just unreliable to use or to predict with unstable connections.

I don't think they are announcing a DBD2 anytime soon since they still have far to go on their calendar. What I do think that they will be announcing is the next chapter. Maybe not a full reveal, but I think it will be teased. It's the game awards, if they announce something there, then it would be a full trailer for something.
-
I kinda agree, but it should be only be a notification for all players including the killer. So solo survivors all need to count for themselves how many were cleansed. And Noed users can count as well without using Thrill. Maybe it might be good to come up with a secret offering for an additional dull totem spawning as well.
I think that would be enough to even out the totem count advantage of SWF without weakening Noed too much.
-
To be fair McCote once mentioned in one of the streams that they considered a Krampuslike Killer once. But the way they mentioned it, it seems like they didn't wen that way.
-
They are probably not allowed to say what it is beforehand. And if it's the upcoming chapter I wouldn't be surprised if it would be a licenced one, or something like that. Having an announcement. during the Game Awards is definitively something that is meant to attract new people into the game. Doubt an original chapter would be best fit for such a thing. If I think about it something like licenced characters cosmetics might work as well.
But to be honest that would be pure speculation. The only fact we have right now, that there is Dead by Daylight related announcement at the Game Awards. -

Ive watched the streams for a while now, and whenever the devs are asked questions regarding mechanic or balance changes, 75% of the time they don’t actually give a substantive answer Just earlier, someone asked about Freddy and they hardly went into detail on the projected changes or thoughts. Same with DS, hatch, etc... we ask about potential new game modes and no specific details are given... It’s frustrating as someone who supports this game to just be given empty statements rather than cogent responses
Thats not fair, they have answered a lot of lore question and they gave precise answers.
The balancing stuff however..... Survivors die more than they survive, there are no balance issues.
Reason being is there’s more casual scrubs playing who don’t even understand what looping is...
Rank 1s still die more than they survive, every rank dies more than they survive.
Where is your evidence for that claim
Devstream. They gave as a percentage number for all platform based on the last seven days I think. Thing is, that this number is kinda wonky like the DepipSquad-experiment. Survivors dying more than surviving doesn't tell the whole story, because we don't know how they are dying or surviving.
There is stuff like trials with lag issues, overaltruism, people, etc. -
Not necessarily. I agree that it's fair to speculate, that the PTB might start quite soon. But they can also only put out a tease one day before and everything would be fine.
Besides that we don't know if e.g. the Event lore was hint for the upcoming chapter. -

Well they said in one of the last streams that the mysterious figure in the trailer is just a mysterious figure. And even though everything written seems to be written by Benedict it could be that the diary entries might be written by someone else. Or that that person might even be thrown into the void by the Entity.
It's hard to say right now. I'm a big fan of the theory that the Halloweed Blight lore points toward the upcoming Chapter. But considering how the writer of the diarys seems to failed to experiment, it might be possible that Vigo actually succeded that experiment by turning themself into a killer. Who knows. -
The weird thing is that yesterday it seemed to be quite getting back to normal again with only around 5 minutes of waiting times.
But today it seems for me like my Rank1 experience is back to zero. At least 15 to 20 minutes waiting times just to face a coordinated SWF trolololo team.
Honestly the Lobby queues is the main reason why I barely play killer at the time and let my useless dailies expire. I even lost my general mood to play DbD. It's just not worth my time anymore and I don't understand why they had to do the Blood Rush event right now, while killers are facing these kind of difficulties. Even most DbD streamers I watch barely stream or switched too survivor only for a while now. (Not counting the Last Year beta weekend).
Just hope the upcoming rank reset might fix it a little bit. -

It really feels like a good game, inspired by the L4D versus mode. Just missing some stuff.
DbD on the other hand has it's Maps, Killers, Perks and Offerings etc. It's a full fletched product that is and has evolved over time. It might feel or look rougher sometimes and there is always bugs and issues with it. It could be better, but it's nothing I would call unfinished.

Same as the free exhaustion relief for getting hooked.
Serious a rusty hook through your shoulder is relieving you from being exhausted? #########?Realism isn't a good argument here. It's a a game. The idea of the exhaustion recovery is just how they tried to rebalance it after the exhaustion nerfs. Beeing unhooked already brings you more vulnerable state. And if you were unhooked a little bit too early and if it's a high mobile killer who decides immediatly return to the hook and tunnel, then you were kinda in a bad spot. It's especially an issue for solo survivors who can't tell their teammates, when their exhaustion perk is ready. So you know that person always has a chance to do something, if the killers comes back. And I think it's a good change.
I know killers still are in a bad spot and it's getting slightly better. But rebalancing the game should also keep the fun aspect of the game higher and not increase frustrating moments for the players.
And this counts for survivors as much as for killers. I mean this bugged Kobe situation and SB I-Frames are such frustrating moments as well. -
Honest answer? Nurse is kinda in need for an AddOn rework. They all are designed in a very outdated way I would say. But to be honest doing good AddOn design might be a though challenge, because her core mechanics are so thight around muscle memory, it makes it hard to tinker with them.
On the other hand she is in a good spot without them. So it's kind aa thing that is necessary, but also isn't, because it's nothing too broken. People are just smart enough not to use them. -

Besides that. Yeah LF is really in need of a serious Buff and rework. And a good thing is that it's comin up within the Community more often lately. So there might be a chance that the Devs will start to listen and when the time comes to rework his AddOns, then they might give him some Buffs as well. But surely not this year and we have tow ait until they do stuff like buffing Freddy first and adjust the Chapter 10 perks and killer.
-
Like it was said. There are no plans right now and I doubt that Behaviour would have the ressources or if it worth for them to put ressources in a Switch version.
Actually we could call us glad, if they manage to make the Xboc One/PS4 versions perform better as they struggle right now. -
I even wonder how hard it would be to implement such a game mode considering everything was developed with the 4vs1 scenario in mind.
Perks like Predator e.g. influence how scratchmarks spawn in general. In a 2 killer scenario you would expect for the one without the perk to see them like they normally do, while the other has the advantage of them beeing closer.
That means all perks and game mechanics need to be revisited and reworked to make sure nothing bugs out.Of course it would be fun for such a game mode to exist. But really a lot of work to implement right now.

It's not viable in the game that we all play. Aside from in specific circumstances. (Gates open, hookswarm, Tunnelling for Dying light, etc.) It was viable in that Tournament, because of the rules they used. That decision, which was regarded by the community at the time as being really stupid, for this exact reason. It has no real relevancy on the game we actually play.Camping can be quite reliable, if you only care about kills. Survivors can be dumb on all ranks and fail for it. But even if they work efficiently, chances are high you get two kills at least. With NOED maybe one more depending if time allows them to do totems or if you catch somebody very early in the game, which means you eliminate the first one before the gates were opened.
The main reason why it doesn't matter that much is, playing the game only to camp is just boring for most people. And will die out the more dangerous killer get during the chase. -
Looks good as a game. Has a really fast game feel. But it's completely different than DbD.

The way they talk about reworking Freddy always sounded like they only have a rough idea.
-
They are just hinting towards the Wurst-Käse scenario.
No personally I think the entity just tortures survivors with food porn. I mean they probably never eat within it's realm.
-
The only thing that needs to be changed about her are the AddOns. A lot of things should be rethought regarding that. Especially her Range-AddOns. But besides it. I don't know. She isn't in a bad spot, but sometimes frustrating to face as a survivor as soon as latency bugs out her blink animations. Or because map design makes stealth complete impossible on some places.
-
@TheBean
Still survivors don't need items and AddOns, there is the potential to keep and even the possibility to earn items during gameplay. Survivor really don't need that many points, except if they grind for perks. Most killers on the other hand are quite AddOn dependend.
And also each item belongs to that one specific survivor. You have to look what one Survivor earns on average and compare it with the most edge case scenarios of losing 1 item with two AddOns. And I personally think that an average survivor makes more points than they lose on average playing the game. -
@Giche said:
Even worse. That mean they pushed it without even trying to balance it, while perfectly knowing the consequences.
Another "[BAD WORD] you" to one part of their community.
If you hear them talk about early design ideas, then you realize that balance wasn't really that important for them. They probably just wanted to create a god casual asymmetrical horror game, in which everyone can have fun. Planning SWF with KYF at the same time makes sense. Also the fact they've decided to go with KYF first also strengthens that they cared first about fun before balance. Or that they even didn't think about it in the first place that survivors might want to be chased. Etc.
We should never forget DbD is build on a different design foundation as it's now. And the Devs clearly adjusted from that, looking back at recent patches and new content they added. Balancing is quite important for them now. It's what counts now. -
We don't know when. Sometime today. Just be patient.

It's called social skills - to let killer players have their side of the event as well. Most survivors dont seem to have any.
I'm kind enough to let killers carry me to the hooks. Thing is, that I don't know if devs might fix the issue with plant bloodpoint farming during the event right now. And it's not my duty to keep killers happy or to be part of the event. It's a design issue, that needs to be adressed by the Devs.

Nea > Nurse
Eat my mind -
Hillbilly is fine as he is right now. Mostly because Survivors are still way too strong. Only if they will ever be brought down to a Level on beatable level for most killers, then they might have to touch Hillbilly and Nurse. But that will take a long time until we hit that point.
-
Last year Steam had a Halloween sale starting at the 26th and ended on Nov 1st. Wouldn't be surprised if the Steam sale would have a similar time frame.
-
How do you define a killer that requires Skill to play? Clown is a ranged killer and learning his throws and prediction survivor movements makes him actually harder to master. It also takes time to learn how to play the Hillbilly in close combat. And don't let us started witht he Hag, playing her efficiently requires a different thought process than other killers.
Besides that I'm not scared, when I hear a Nurse scream, when I play Survivor. I can handle a Nurse in a chase, except she uses range AddOns which make her appear very buggy. But even then I'm more annoyed than anything.
-
I personal think that a terror radius reduction isn't necessary. Yes, he is positioning killer, but even if he has M&A, Survivors should still be able to positioning themselves in good spot or hide. And the buffs nly make him a good in chases, not in anything else. Besides that his character model is quite large and easier to spot from far away.
Also throwing down pallets early still helps you to gain enough distance to be safe from his chainsaw swing. Especially with the cooldown added to it. The only thing that might be unclear is. Can a survivor still stun him during his swing or is he unstoppable? -
Grind is fine for an event that takes two weeks. Should be enough time for even those with less time on their hand to finish the grind.
The only annoying thing is maybe the way the phials incentive survivor to suicide. -

Y'know, the concept of: "You're not a team, but teamwork will make it easier."That's the original design idea. But right now with SWF in the game it's one of the reason the balance is broken. The game kinda needs to be designed more into "Teamwork is mandatory"-way to have a better ground for balancing.

You are not entitled to anything more, I understand it's quite hard to grasp for most children out there playing the game that running a game costs money, creating something of this quality, costs a lot of money and effort. That you even GET to have one of these outfits FOR FREE **is insane. Previous events we've, we could earn 1 weapon or 1 mask and so on. Now we get a full outfit or mix and match with 3 cosmetics **FOR FREE.Here's an idea, how about you earn the outfit that's your favorite **FOR FREE **and move on unless you can't purchase whatever else outfit you want? Is that so hard?
The thing with previous event was that this one item you could earn for each side felt like more because of the way they were presented.
It was one unique thing only obtainable through the event. The Hallowed Blight outfits look good and are high effort. And a lot about this upcoming event is great.
But the three items you can earn are presented as one outfit out of seven. The rest is buyable for quite a high price (10€ each). And yes, I belong to the group of people who think that cosmetics are overpriced and only buy Chapter DLCs and grind them instead.
This just gives you the feel, that these free outfit is just there as an incentive for you to buy the rest. It doesn't feel like a reward, more like a commercial you have to grind for, because you are still missing the rest of the "event" stuff. It feels like less, even if it more.I think people would feel different, if there would be something unique to grind for and the High quality cosmetics only buyable like the chapter cosmetic sets.
Or they would have designed only one cosmetic item for seven characters and you can earn 3 out of 7. Which would technically less, but feel more.
The thing is like I said. How it's represented. It's not about entitlement or beeing children. It's more like how it feels. -
@Tsulan said:
So you can get 1 complete outfit for FREE and you guys are still salty?
OMG this community. It's more of a psycholigical thing. You hear/see 7 Event specific Outfits from which you can only earn one participating during the event, while the rest need to get bought for a good amount of money (I think 10€ per outfit). It's more like Expectations vs. what came int he end. Everything looked like you can earn several outfits depending on how much you play the game. And suddenly everything is different with a huge price cap. Especially for completetlists, it's a bummer.
Technically it's more than previous events. I mean one outfit is made of three parts and we only got one part for a survivor/killer. But by making these for several characters and in a way that you can mix them together with other outfits they felt like more.
I mean I'm myself in the position, that I have to madke a decision for which Outfit I will go for. And most likely it will be only one Killer outfit, because the event outfits might not mix well other stuff mostly. It's kinda frustrating especially, if you don't have the money to spend so much for an cosmetics.
I think if the would have went the route of doing 7 special Head parts for individual characters instead and would have mad it so that you can earn 3 out of those 7, then it would have been less content, but felt more than what we got in the end.
-
I guess the main reason why they won't touch generators is, because they don't want killers who camp get too strong and people not to get bored. That's probably why they went for healing instead. So killers, who chase normally can extend the game by succesfull hits/spreading the pain.
I think that might be even their main approach, trying to make the game easier specifically for those killers who decide to play by not camping or tunneling (I know it's legit and efficient). -
these were datamined yesterday after the patch and are spoilers for the upcoming event!
-
My answer to it is, that the sexuality of most characters in this game are unknown. Not even for the killers we can't say much about their sexuality except Freddy. And looking at their backstories, they would work Lore wise with all kinds f sexual preferences/orientations.
So I would say, well there is no representation for LGBTQ in the game, we know of. But there isn't a huge representation of straight characters either. Most of them are in a form of creative "limbo" and free in sense of interpretation. And each interpretation is a legit one. If some see Dwight as straight, others as bisexual, then they are both legit in seeing him like that.
It might be that we might get a character on which their sexuality is mentioned within their Lore, but right now we don't have one so far.
