'Camping and tunneling...strategies' oh my godWhy do you moan? According to devs they are strategies as well.
I was the one who wanted something that will decrease camping and tunneling in the game. I said that killers had no benefits if they let survivors escape and try to choose other targets. Here is what I have said.
I generally play survivor and tunneling is very frustrating for me. So when I play as a killer, I deliberately try to avoid tunneling but hooking different survivors rather than focusing on a single survivor and eliminating him from the match doesn't feel rewarding. Do you have any plan to reward killers who do not camp and tunnel?
Here is the link. 5th post is mine.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/15235/question-for-the-youtube-q-a/p1
You can go and watch what devs think about camping or tunneling. They think we should not force people to do something.
You have this clear evil killers who try to drain survivors' fun. Nope killers are generally not like that. They try to win and even though camping is not a great strategy, tunneling is the most efficient way for the killer to eliminate his targets. At the end of the day, every single player will try to play optimally.
You sure require massive amount of skill and you doing nuclear theory in your head to be efficient while straight up looking at the Survivor on the hook, i'll say it again, camping=no skill required or 'strategy', tunneling=again, it's really hard and resourceful action to do, following the just unhooked Survivor like a mindless sheep until you catch up to him, which is most likely instantly because camping/tunneling go hand in hand
I have never said anything about skill. So I don't see any reason to answer that.
Not every single strategy requires high intelligence.
Looping around an object is not skill. It is a tactic, a strategy.
You can use the damn pallet in 5 seconds and waste it or you can run around a circle and waste killers' 20 seconds. Looping around objects for 20-30 seconds do not require skill or intelligence but it is a good strategy to waste the killers' time.
Somebody can save a survivor in front of me. I can down the survivor in 5 seconds just like that pallet, or I can choose to go after the survivor who performed the unhooking. And waste my 20-30 seconds to catch him even more if he is a good survivor.

Someone who has read the post carefully would also have read that nobody is forced to do that. Its just some ideas to increase the fun of the matches for both sides. If someone dont want that, so he can do as he want. No need to discuss about. I am happy for everyone, who took the one or the other point of that list, to meke DBD Comm a better place. (and still got points and pips!)'Its just some ideas to increase the fun of the matches for both sides.'
Nope I don't think so.
Your killer advices increase the fun for the survivors. They give survivors better chances of winning.
Your survivor advices on the other hand, do not increase the fun for the killers. Almost all of it is about surviving. Don't feed the camper does not increase the killer's fun. Dealing with slugging does not increase the fun for the killer. Not wiggling as the last survivor does not increase killer's fun. Your chances of surviving increase, it is not even about the killer.
Not tbagging or waiting at the exit gates are not equivalent of camping or tunneling. Camping and tunneling are strategies. Slashing people on the hook is the closest thing that resembles tbag or waiting at the exit gates.

Sorry but killers should NOT be able to grab someone who has already started to “escape” through the hatch. It is total B.S. and unfair that something like that is even allowed to happen especially when the killer is camping the hatch. It is the last players last resort to escaping and you mean to tell me that the killer can stop them from even doing that! Sorry but that’s just another reason why this game sucks hard core and is in heavier favor of the killer than it is the survivor. Who ever thought that was a good idea can be fired plz and thank you. Don’t care what anyone else has to say I’m venting so leave me alone. If you don't care what we say then why the hell do you open a thread?

Ez.
I think both killers and survivors should be more reasonable.
You kill survivors in 60 seconds if they’re pretty much begging you
You repair generators in 110 seconds if the killer is pretty much begging you.
1 survivor can loop a killer for ages. As a solo player I often finish all my generators uninterrupted. This is at all ranks including rank 1. Unless they find me first or give up the chase but by then they are simply getting looped by me while someone else does the gen.
I have never said that the gen rush does not exist. I think all of the balance issues comes down to the fact that gen rush is still a thing. DS, getting looped, bad map designs etc. all of this mean longer chases for the killer while other survivors doing gens.
Stating that, you can not repair generators in 110 seconds. It could be possible with old BNPs but right now it is simply impossible.
People exaggerate the problem so the Devs don't take us seriously. They finally started to talk about secondary objectives and with the map and exhaustion changes, the game actually feels more balanced.
These kind of threads are more of a hindrance rather than help.

It is impossible to kill all survivors within 60 seconds, even if they all wait in the basement for you to hook them. It takes 2 minutes for a single survivor to die on hook
You didn't read my post then. I said everybody tried to escape and fail and didn't struggle.

This isn't actually a good answer to him because you still couldn't address the core issue.
If only 8 people in a forum cries and moans about it and the rest of the killer community is okay with SWFs, opting out is not that big of a problem since SWFs will find games easily. Only 8 people will opt out it.
This is not the case though. Although only 5-10 people in the forum mention SWF, almost every single killer playing the game has problems with SWF groups. So everybody will prefer non SWF games. Why does everybody prefers non SWF games though?
He is pointing out that if all of the killers have problems with SWF, there is something wrong with it. Why should killers endure unbalanced games etc.
I don't like the idea because it is gonna kill the game. Playing an unbalanced game is better than not playing it imo. I don't have any solutions for that but I feel like @Mycroft is right here
Except why would you opt into harder gameplay.
People just wouldn't do it and it would kill that game, seriously how does no one understand that theres thousands of casual players that just hang out with their friends and play just to relax. They don't make reddit posts, they don't make forum accounts, they don't say anything in chat, they just leave and queue for the next game.
Every single defense you have made in favor of survivors can be made for the killers as well.
Why would survivors tell where the killer is?
Why would they tell which perks the killer is using?
Why would they tell where the killer's totem is?
Clearly these kind of things will make the game easier for the survivors. Why would they opt into harder gameplay.
There are thousands of casual players that just play the killer and relax. They don't want to deal with 'harder modes'.
Apparently only 5-10 killers moan about the SWF groups. So we can say the same thing for the killers as well. They don't make reddit posts, they don't make forum accounts, they don't say anything in chat, they just leave and queue for the next game. Except the game is harder for the killers not for the survivors.
Again, I am not against SWF. However, we can't ignore that SWF is a problem and create an unfair environment. If they have benefits of communication, killers need something as well.

I feel like most of their killers have psychopathic features and supernatural abilities.
Nurse, hag, spirit and wraith have supernatural abilities and terrible deaths. They are vengeful killers
Hillbilly and huntress have really rough childhood.
Trapper, clown are obsessive. My language skills do not allow me to describe them better but you know trapper was obsessed with power while clown was obsessed with collection.
Pig, doctor and Freddy are pure psychopaths.
Myers is very complex
Ghostface doesn't fit into that. I don't know. As if this game is not his/her place.

Survivors do complain about killers starting to kill them right away though. Tunneling literally means that and they defend themselves saying that it is not fun for the survivor who is getting tunneled. Guess what is not fun for the killer.
Tunneling and gen rushing are more or less the same thing imo.

How would you counter billy if you can't look behind you.
How would you counter clown if you can't see where his bottles are thrown.
How would you counter hag if you can't look around for traps.
How would you counter nurse if you can't try and predict where shes aiming.
How would you counter trapper if you can't look around for his traps.
How would you counter wraith if you can't predict which side of the wall he's going to charge at.How fun would it be to stare at a generator while you're doing it.
How fun would it be to stare in front of you on the hook and not look around to see if you're being rescued so you can prepare.
How would would it be to heal a survivor and stare straight into their back not knowing if a killer is coming
How fun would it be to be hit by a killer and get that speed burst without being able to control it properly.^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
A list of things that people who support this idea will think don't matter because it makes the game easier for them.I certainly wouldn't want to play Myers and pull everyone off a gen as they don't have a fair chance.
I certainly wouldn't want to hit every hatchet I throw because the survivors don't have a fair chance. You get the picture.
You counter them the same way you do know...with decisive, sprint burst, and looping. But in all seriousness though if everything was in 1st person there would be alot less survivor nerfs than what they are making because they would actually need there perks as survivoring would be actually hard.
DS - Getting Nerfed
Sprint Burst - Nerfed (and all exhaustion perks)
Looping - Can't loop if you can't see the killer.Whether you like it or not looping is integral to the game, without looping survivors are forced to run in straight lines and be downed within 10 seconds.
DS doesn't counter being pulled off a gen at all, sprint burst doesn't counter anything if you can't see it coming.
Looping doesn't counter not being able to see sweet heck all mate.
Can you imagine thinking DS, Sprint Burst & Looping counter not being able to see anything, hilarious.
DS doesnt require seeing someone at all and i said DS wouldnt be nerfed because surviving would actually be hard. Killers cant see anything either they have an FOV of 87 and its hard to see with a flashlight in your face.
Killers are able to see in front of themselves which they need to.
Survivors need to be able to see behind in order to avoid the killer. Survivors need to be able to see their environment in order to lead the chase to somewhere else. This is why they need 3rd person view.
Killers on the other hand will always follow survivors.
There is a massive difference between them.
People should give up being killer or survivor main in this forum and try to be more reasonable. I don't say giving killers 3rd person view will break the game but if you give survivors 1st person view, it will kill the game easily.
It is not gonna happen If the devs don't want to gut their game.
-
I don't agree with survivors having first person perspective.
The game is not balanced around that. Chasing is the main part of the game and most of the maps are not suitable for hiding. Killers are always behind the survivors so they don't need to look behind while survivors have to look behind in order to see the killer and if they can't, it will make mind games a lot easier for the killer. Yes, game is unbalanced in favor of the survivors but not that much I think. Imagine survivors not being able to look behind to avoid hatchets or chainsaws.
Killers should be able to choose first person and third person though.
-

Well you didn't want killers to respond to your thread because supposedly we love getting free hooks so instead of talking about boil over I will talk about 'unrelenting'.
Unrelenting is a ######### perk. Why?
It reduces our missed attacks by %40. Okay but why the hell would I want to use that perk since I don't miss my targets? Should they buff it?
No. The reason for that is that the perk is not for high ranks. You can use unrelenting at low ranks when you are still trying to get good at killers. For example, when I started to play killer, I was always using deerstalker not because I was slugging but because sometimes I was just losing the damn survivor in the grass.
Boil over is that kind of perk. It will come in handy in low ranks against bad killers. In other places like Lery's or when the killer tries to take you to the shack, that perk is actually useful.
It is a noob friendly perk. I don't expect devs to buff it just like unrelenting.
-
Yeah I see that yesterday when I was watching one of the streamers. He wanted to show that so that the devs can fix it. He intentionally let the survivors escape.
-
Hexy is trying to do that but more than half of the survivors can easily hit the skillcheck.
Also for common balance issues, using perks to compensate is not a good way to go.

I'm just curious I keep seeing so many bitter posts, saying how strong survivors are etc. And I'm a bit confused by it. I've only really started playing truly in the last 2 months or so. But I've gotten to rank 1 as Survivor, and as a killer. My killer of choice, and probably the only killer I really will ever care to play is my boy Michael Myers. I typically run BBQ, Nurses, Hex Ruin, and Monitor & abuse. Though at times I might run whispers over nurses. The majority of my games I tend to get at least 3 kills, I'd say about 70% of the time. Very very rarely do I get only 1 kill, and generally it's against swf, who have excellent communication. I watch a lot of videos on youtube to help me out as well to figure out what more experienced players than myself do in a lot of situations, and with different builds. They also tend to get at bare minimum 2 kills a game, though it's possible they only show their wins.
But I don't get why it's so bad off, yes SWF can make stuff incredibly frustrating, but if you really don't want to deal with it you can usually just ditch a lobby when it's completely obvious that it's SWF, which to me makes it almost a non-issue.
I'll be honest though, I get salty on the swamp...it's usually the map that I can't kill everyone on, I lose track of people far too easily, and feel like I waste too much time going up on boats and docks to try and stop people from doing gens. lol
Not really.
The only bad part playing as a killer is when you get gen rushed. I am okay with 4 men escaping as long as I've got my BBQ stacks with multiple hooks. Generally 8 hooks satisfy me even though I get 0 kills.
It is just frustrating to deal with time though. You know that if you don't put enough pressure, survivors will be able to finish the game under 4 mins.
-
I played huntress a fair amount and didn't have any problem with hearing people. Since she is a strong chaser, they might even have done that intentionally for us to not hear survivors and find them quickly as well.
For me, the biggest problem is that it is really annoying after a while. Sometimes I even hear that song when I am not playing the damn game. There should be an option to remove it for the killer.
-
Then he will miss the chance to remove somebody from the game.
In the last youtube question session I have asked a question and they got me wrong. What I asked was this.
Their answer to me was that they didn't want to punish camping or tunneling, for which I didn't even ask a nerf btw.
So basically he can hit the unhooker but still, he has to chase him and down him while the unhooked survivor can still repair generators. At the end, another survivor will save the hooked survivor again and you need to chase the unhooker if you want to be a nice guy. Repeat it 12 times to win which is really difficult if you don't play top tier killers.
Survivors think that killers are pure evil and they camp and tunnel because they want to drain their fun. Although I accept that there are people like that, most of the killers don't want to do that just like the OP but nothing in this game benefits the killer more than eliminating somebody early.
-
I am a survivor main and I prefer playing as a survivor since it is a lot more enjoyable.
I think that the survivor side is really powerful. Not because looping is unbeatable or the game is extremely difficult for the killers but because survivors are the ones who decide the direction of the game. There is not much that a killer can do if the survivors want to genrush and finish the game as soon as possible (Assuming the killer is not a nurse or a hillbilly).
Playing killer doesn't feel like playing a 'killer'. You need to manage the time which is boring and stressful.
I wish I loved playing the nurse and the hillbilly but both of them are the most boring killers for me.

Yeah but it takes 10 seconds.
Game is unbalanced but not that much imo. + there are killers like nurse and hillbilly who get 4k consistently.
The game is unfun because of how short it is. This suggestion will make the game even shorter which is a mistake. Also it doesn't require the killer to put something into the game. It is a plain buff with no drawbacks.
The game is really hard if you try to play fairly. Hexy for example does anything to win the game and gets 4k with the weakest killers like Freddy, Wraith, Pig almost in every game.
We need more consistent, longer games in order to balance this game and make it more fun.

What is your opinion on giving the killers the option to vault a pallet instead of breaking it? (killers will still be able to break pallets if they want)
I understand that this would require new animations and is unlikely. But it could work with some new strategies and mind games. Perhaps even being affected by Bamboozle. If it is the same speed survivors vault, might as well remove pallets from the game.
If it is slower, breaking it will be always superior so I don't see any reason to do that.
-
Only Claudettes are evil in this game.
Sadly, I am one of them.
-
There were matches when I took the agro for my teammates to finish the last generator.
There were matches when I got hooked before the last gen, and got away with adrenaline even though the killer was camping me.
There were matches when 3 of us were getting slugged and adrenaline saved all of us when the last generator was completed.
In one of the matches I was using borrowed time. I was working on a generator and it was around %85, and the hooked survivor was about to die. I saved him, the killer get a hit and the timer went off, I quickly completed the generator and she survived. If she didn't equip adrenaline she would be dead.
There is no shortage of plays you can make with adrenaline. It is very situational when only one person uses it but when everybody uses it ,which is the case for high ranks, it becomes really powerful.
I would go with adrenaline.
-
It is basically giving killers an ebony mori for all the matches.
It is the definition of being overpowered.

I know the devs say they have ideas for a reward but don’t have anything solid yet, but I was wondering if it ever maxes out at a certain level? , and what types of rewards were being looked at?I think getting a 2000 shard bonus would be cool for every devotion point and maybe once you get 5 devotion points a special cosmetic? I know 5 is a bit much but you would know for a fact you’re against a seasoned player if the cosmetic was on because you don’t put that much time in and not be somewhat good at the game.
I feel like 2k shards is too low.
You get 2k shards for levelling up 7 times anyway. Hitting devotion level 1 or 2 is not that easy for many people.

When I was playing a doc in springwood, I tried to carry a kate to the basement in the school and I failed. It was more annoying than the combination of all the times that I have been D striked.
It is a fun perk, not consistent but when it becomes successful, it feels really good. Not every single perk will be viable unfortunately. I don't see them buffing this perk while there are much more terrible perks in the game.

STORY: Basically I had a very bad start as a survivor against a mirror Myers at Lèry's. This actually scared me since he could see me at anytime and sacrifice me! Now during the end of the match, our Nea went to save Jake but he killed himself on the hook which got our Nea downed. The Myers couldn't find a hook and took a long time to reach a hook, as a survivor, I punished him by body blocking the hook to free our Nea! Now I'm injured and I slowly walked into a room and hid in a corner with Iron Will... I knew that he would use his mirror add-ons to locate me, I knew that I was dead. However instead he just walked right pass me and followed the Nea's scratch marks, I was so confused that I ended up asking the killer why he didn't just kill me since he can see me with his add-ons. Then he told me that Solo Survivor probably hid my aura and saved my life! I was totally shocked, I completely forgot that our Jake died! Wow, I never thought that Solo Survivor would ever save my life but it did and it was awesome!Solo Survivor: The perk needs a slight buff, but make it do something that's worth becoming the obsession because being the obsession sucks lol! I was thinking that it should give you a 4/5/6% movement speed increase for every survivor eliminated from the trial when not in a chase. Additionally increase the meters to 16/20/24!
Hopefully you guys like my story about Solo Survivor!

Although I believe the perk needs buff, MS speed increase is too much. Just imagine facing Huntress. She won't even be able to start a chase. In maps like haddonfield, we already see that even though she is 'chasing' somebody, the chase music doesn't even play.

Rank 4 Killer, can barely find [BAD WORD] anyone.
Rank 9 Survivor, finding a ######### ton of 300+ lobbies, getting dodged, gone against unfair matchmaking or gone against a hacker.
Looping pallets is getting repetitive. Devs need to add more things than just windows or pallets.
Ruin doesn't last more than a minute because of 10/10 game design.
Blood Lodge exists.
Devs added slow quick vaults when coming in from angles to a window. Haven't added them to pallets yet.
Obnoxious loop spots.
Freddy's lunge range.Clown is a good counter to loopers.
Most probably he says that as a survivor though. He can't choose to face clowns. It is up to the killer whether he will use clown or another killer.
FYI I mostly play killer. You can always take bamboozle with any killer. Nurse, hag, doctor , trapper can all counter looping as well. But this loop needs to be reworked

I think you misunderstood me. What I meant by that was that the OP says the looping is boring not only for the killers but for the survivors as well. Most probably he wants other means to escape from the killer, like tools that he can use to hide just like lockers etc.
Yes bamboozle and some of the killers you mentioned can counter looping but as a survivor I can't choose to face these killers. It is up to the killers whether they want to use certain perks or killers. We need different ways of juking.

All games become unfun at some point, but DBD is a special case with nothing to do but staying in one place for 80 seconds hitting 2-3 skill checks, then what? Run around some pallets, gate's powered and that's it, same goes for killers, they need to step up their contentI am not sure about that. Dbd has a very devout community and people really play this game.
There are 12 killers with more than 20 maps. Every game feels different for me.
The only time it is boring when the killer is gen rushed. They really need to find a solution for that.

I actually don't understand why people say that the clown is rarely seen. I have switched to the clown and see him more than I see pig, trapper, wraith, hag, freddy, huntress and doc. Hillbilly and nurses are still the majority and Myers are being played more than clown but I am sure that the clown is not that unpopular.
I actually want statistics which killers are being played in ranks between 1 and 10.

Simple answer: the devs balance their game around their own perception. They play at yellow ranks, where there is almost no looping and killers feel powerful.
The last "play with the devs" stream made that painfully obvious. This is true.
If the red ranks were like yellow ranks with more skill, the game would be very very enjoyable for both sides.
In yellow ranks, survivors are afraid of the killers. They crouch to avoid the killer rather than sprinting YOLO, gens take forever to complete, killers and survivors have enough time to play in different styles etc.
In red ranks, instead of hiding, survivors tbag and flashlight click on your face, complete generators even though they know you are coming for them, generally only 1 or 2 survivors face the killer, rest of the team just complete generators as soon as possible and leave the game.
The game was a lot more enjoyable for me when I was afraid of the killer. Killers need to be more threatening for this game to be fun.

Anything that allows her to see survivors will be OP. Come on guys we are talking about %176 ms and since you are able to see survivors, it takes away skill from her. Hold m2, see the survivor, move at %176 ms and get a hit. It requires no skill with a very powerful ability.
She needs something different but I still don't know what.

Either you mute your sound which puts you at a real disadvantage or you DC.
Sadly the devs have designed this game without thinking how toxic people can exploit their mechanics.I wouldnt use TOTH anyway because SWF can easily counter it and you have 2 dead perks then
Yes TOTH should be a normal perk not a hex totem. You don't even know which totem is more important for you.

Is that because Myers has his own house in the map so there is no need to have a shack?
Or is there another reason that we don't know?

Nice nuclear fallout you have there 8-)
Back to the topic, both sides are at fault, survivors complaining about camping and killers about being looped, that's how it's going to be until devs are going to fix their game, hence the smack talk at the end from both sidesI am a survivor main and played this game more than 900 hours and have never ever seen a killer telling survivors to get cancer and die because they looped him.
Killers complain a lot even more than survivors, I can't say they don't. However, they at least blame the game for being unbalanced etc. Survivors just insult killers because they don't like the way they play.

Look at all the whining killers in here. It's almost as if you're forced to read chat after a match and you have no option to leave.. hmmmwell. considering sometimes we dont have the chance to close the chat. let me guess your one of those who says toxic kind of crap. and if not then why are you acting as if it doesnt matter whats said when it does? and condoning it eh? be on the receiving end then you wouldnt come out with this crap. let me guess you dont ever player killer .....
Nothing that extreme but if they are sweaty ill have some words for sure.
Sweaty killer = A guy who tries to win the game.
Yeah go ahead and insult people who try to play the game optimally in order to win.

The game as a map sometimes feels like labyrinth and even though it is not designed for that, it is really frustrating. I can't imagine them creating a labyrinth map intentionally.
