Pig's weapons cost $10 or are you joking?
Also they don't need to make new sounds, as mentioned above.
Mostly just referring to the fact that they increased the price for Pig's Leather outfit by 5$ because of added sound effects on the weapon.
-
Adding sounds to weapons make them cost 5$ more, just like the Pig weapons.
-
Jackie, definitely. It'd be pretty dope to see Behavior take on an iconic serial killer rather than yet another licensed movie character.

I took up for the devs before release, but if this is true, I don't blame people for being angry now. A lot of these are near impossible to do. Is this something you can actually view in the game? Or is this something pulled from the files?
There seem to be a bug related to completing the first Tome, it'll show the fourth Tome in its stead.
-
We don't even know how bad Tome 2-3 challenges will be.
-
My first idea I had for a killer was way back before Huntress became a thing, and it was a fat generic butcher/chef type that threw cleavers.
Thankfully, I never went through with it and posted the idea anywhere.

That's quite vague, though. Where does it say two weeks?
T'was just a assumption of me. If we only have 70 days to beat the Rift, putting 3-4 weeks between each Tome unlock would be pretty insane.

this is insane! can you please show me what tomb 3 looks like please.
The bug that shows the challenges of tome 4 (since it isn't available yet) only seem to show tome 4. We have no idea how bad Tome 2-3 will be yet.
-
From the Archive/Rift FAQ on their website.
-
Not even halfway done yet.
-
Which? The time-gating? Its right there in the Archives, the reason why you cannot access Tome 2-4 yet.
-
From what I understand, the next tome will unlock 2 weeks after the previous.
As to why they're time-gated instead of unlocking automatically when you reach the tome's Epilogue.. I suspect the developers aren't keen that people might run through the Archive's challenges and gain Rift Fragments too fast.

If any devs read this, when designing the 'harder' tomes - please just keep in mind that many of us have full-time jobs and children.
Looking at some of these... I'm just saying.
Perfect! Having an employment means you can just buy the tiers instead!

@SnakeSound222 said:
The devs want you to cough up real money for the Rift instead of completing these.
The fact that Lore itself will be locked behind these sort of challenges (as we can only assume they exist in Tome 2-3), makes it worse. Lore is something casuals SHOULD be able to unlock without too much of a hassle.

This is the worst battle pass I've ever seen. The whole point of a battle pass is to keep player numbers up not to try withhold players from receiving their monopoly money. Do they really think people will pay for tiers?
Of course they do, otherwise they'd not have an option to buy tiers.

Sucks waiting in queues.

"It'll only take about 70-80 hours in total, based upon our data".

Some of these challenges are ridiculous: they remember me when I did my first exam of game design at the college. The game we made had some very hard and frustrating side objectives to achieve. Then I proposed to my team to change them to be still difficult but less stressful, because 1 of the metric was to keep the players happily and healthy interested in reaching their goals (even if challenging). Even with that change we failed that metric because they were still negative for the players behavior.
Now ... this was the "first" exam, the abc of game design ... who the hell even thought at BHVR these archives challenges, should be put elsewhere to work, maybe in doing some game design courses. Even in bathroom you shouldn't think something like this, and if you do, you should be ashamed after! Really, just can't understand how it is possible these challenges went troughs all the BHVR devs and QA, and came in live production to be seen by the rest of the world.
Challenging yes, but frustrating, toxic, rng, and time consuming side objectives it's a big nono. To BHVR: with all the respect of your staff, despite I'm no one to tell you this, I still like a lot this game, so plz check better the work of your employees, these things shouldn't even reach the internal testing environment ... #########!
Sadly, in the modern gaming industry, frustrating players into spending (in this case buying Rift tiers because grinding for Rift Fragments ain't realistic) is a monetization strategy.
-
Of course they can finish it. They just throw money at the screen. Either that or ask a programmer to set the Rift_Complete variable to 1.

Then, may I know what's the "event"????
You get 3k bloodpoints if you repair pumpkin generators or if you hook a survivor on a spooky hook.
Such event. Wow. Much awesome. Very atmospheric. Wow!
-
I actually really like the concept of the Archives because I am a bit of a Lore nerd but restricting it and polluting it with ######### because it ties in with a Battle Pass.. that's a big oof for me.
I'll enjoy my DbD lore via Youtube videos instead.

@DeKillerKiller said:
Even if you complete those challenges, you still need around 150 hours worth of playtime to finish the whole Rift. Which if you couldn't guess, is not exactly 150 hours if you don't count the downtime and waiting queues that this game so amazingly offers.
And the developers said that it'd only require 70-80 hours in total, including the challenges in the mix, to unlock the entire Rift.
Eh. Good thing I am too cynical to be surprised by the fact that this was a blatant lie.
On topic, I've not spent money on DbD since the release of the Plague thanks to Behavior really not deserving it. Their priority is pumping out cosmetics and monetizing their player-base. Show that they care and I'll start spending my money again.

I just completed level one of the archives and got a total of 25 serum from the rift for the two event skins. From what i know you can only get the serum from the rift. The release dates for the next levels are set for after the event is over. The event stops November 13th. The next level in the archives is set to release November 13th. How are you supposed to be able to get enough serum for the two cosmetics if the archives and the event goes hand in hand. Am I missing something? Im not even able to get one of the event skins after finishing the first level of the archives. Did I miss a huge announcement or something or am I mistaken?
The Rift, where you unlock the Serums, will last 70 days.. faaaar beyond the actual Halloween 'event'.
-
I almost got excited that it was between PC and consoles, not between two different PC stores.
I actually thought that was already a thing. Hahah. Seems not.
-
Underwhelming. If it had synergy with more perks, like Surge, it'd be more powerful.
-
Don't you like pumpkin generators?

I've noticed that. Hell of a grind but I'm enjoying it so far.
Saw in another thread that you'd need roughly 150 hours of pure match-time (aka not including queues and time spent in menus) to get all Fragments left if you 100% all the Archive's challenges.
That's pretty BS. Didn't the developers say that it'd only take about 70-80 hours in total, including the Archive's challenges?
-
@snozer said:
What do you expect, free stuff?
They don't want you to finish the battle pass
They don't want you to get 30 vials for hween cosmetics
That's no excuse to lock LORE behind these ridiculous challenges. I can understand if they don't want casuals to complete the Rift but Lore should be something they should be able to unlock without too much hassle.

They dont want ALL people to complete the Rift. It is logical that you wont spend 10 Euros one-time and get every future Battle Pass free. I guess they are aiming for a percentage of Players who get it, and if it is too low, they can adjust the difficulty (or increase it, if it is too much). Like, if they aim for 10% who complete the Rift, and it will be 5%, they might lower the difficulty. But if 20% complete the Pass, they might make it harder for the next Archives.
While it is true that DBD is not F2P, it is kinda cheap. And you can get most of the Stuff for free, as long as you dont want to play specific Killers, you dont need to spend any more money. Perks appear in the Shrine, even from licensed Characters, and most Killers and Survivors can be bought via Shards. For Survivor, you only need the Basegame and DS, and you are fine. For Killer, you can get a lot with Shards.
Overall, I think people should just wait until the end of the Rift Period. Because then players know, how much they actually achieve. And if in doubt, everybody can buy the pass at the end, if they are happy with the Progression and what they got.
The problem here is not that people want to complete the Rift, its that Lore is locked behind unreasonable challenges and time-gates. This should should be achievable by normal players. Nothing like having to visit Youtube or the DbD wiki for all the Lore that you could have earned yourself if it wasn't locked behind insanity out of fear that players might beat the Rift too fast.

Those would be some nice changes, but how dare you insult the lad's vault noise, it isn't his fault he has breathing problems from all that gas!
It ruins his ability to perform mind-games around windows because he's literally telling everyone that he's vaulting.
-
The fastest and easiest fix would just to be increase the slow of his gas, the duration and improve reloading time.
There's a bunch of various things you could do to spice things up;
- Hitting a survivor directly with a bottle douses them in the Afterpiece Tonic, making survivors leave a trail of gas after leaving the cloud for an additional 1-2 seconds.
- Reloading bottles releases gas around the Clown.
- The longer a survivor says in the gas, the longer the duration will be.
- Intoxicated survivors cannot see the red stain.
- Remove the ######### vaulting noise the Clown makes when jumping through windows.

The endgame one doesn't seem THAT difficult if you ran a full endgame build (NOED, Remember Me, Bitter Murmur, Blood Warden.) as I just got a 4K running one. Still think it's obnoxious though and survivors will see an influx of NOED.
It'd still require you to not win too fast or too hard, plus having to rely that survivors won't just slam the DC because they got downed once.
Also, you'd not wanna run Remember Me since the EGC needs to be ACTIVE. Aka, a gate opened.

Is the 4th tome even out? I thought it was locked behind a time wall until later. If that's the case, why are we jumping on the ship of "they didn't do anything to fix this" when we don't know yet? I'm open to being proven wrong though!
So am I.

Hmm, well suddenly the absurdly difficult challenges seem a little less cruel. Sure they're still hard, but at least that time is still giving you progress.
Yeah. If you play each role once (to get the daily XP bonus of 300 each), you should be able to get 1-2 Rift Fragments per day. And you only require.. 700 Rift Fragments in total to unlock all tiers in the Rift.. in 70 days.
-
I am very anti Battle Passes and I was cautiously excited for the Lore.
But here they went and made the Lore hard AF to unlock, only so that people cannot Battle Pass currency too fast.
-
No.
But you require 800 XP for a single Rift Fragment, and each tier (as far as I know) cost 10 Fragments to unlock.
-
I am so glad I've disabled the post-game chat to relieve myself of this stupid.

So much for casual players unlocking all the archives.
I can understand the developers wanting to make casual players not being able to complete the Rift but doing that to the Archives as well?
-
Because survivors tend to dodge their fellow survivors if their rank isn't "good enough"?
But I recall seeing people's rank in the lobby yesterday when I played..? Has there been another update since?

The Styptic got a buff. Endurance protects you from anything, even one-shots, which a full heal wouldn't do.

A lot of these challenges are bs. Wouldn't be so bad if you didn't have to do it in a single trial.. but you do.
Getting 3 sacrificing during endgame with NOED is just straight up impossible and situnational. If endgame collapse has been triggered and survivors see NOED they aren't going to be attempting to save the person, unless they're a very altruistic SWF.
Getting 3 unhooks during endgame collapse is also bs and very unlikely.. but possible, though I'm not a fan of it.
The toughest one probably being to sacrifice 4 survivors in the basement, even if you manage to get 3 the last surv is gonna stay as far away as possible. Also survivors would just DC if they see someone is running a basement build.
The devs doesn't seem to really have thought some of these challenges through.. They seem to be for the "dedicated" and "hardcore" playerbase, totally screwing over casuals, like my friend who'd never be able to do most of these.
I'll have to fight that. I believe they've put a lot of thought behind it. Over the top challenges are a genius way to stop the common player from getting Rift Fragments.
