I'm a rank 1 killer, i can tell you that Noed is not a good perk. Why? Because the game is over before all gens are finished. Survivors will complain about everything because they didn't get to escape. You will find that the majority of complaints come from lower ranked survivors where killers tend to rely on Noed, but that is exactly the reason those killers are still at low ranks.
All the survivor mains complaining about Noed only play at trash tier levels and expect a free escape.
Or... some of us just think its bad design? And have an opinion on ways to improve bad design?
Some people are just more whiny than others - doesn't make their opinion any less valid. Discussing changes, why or why not someone think a perk needs some, is productive even is this form. Yes, it is. Because regardless its community feedback; although most of it is taken with a grain of salt, we must encourage discussions. Not dismiss them.

I've never done it as I make sure I face a wall or that nobody is near me as I pick up a survivor. That said if this is an exploit then so is looping, bodyblocking and jumping in lockers to avoid being hit.
It was considered an exploit because the flashlight save was considered successful, but it would negate it. Again, I remember this only being prior to the pick up changes in speed. It was also hard to pull off.
Maybe read some of the thread for some clarification my dude :P
-
Why shut up about it?
Excuse me?
Are you SHUTTING down perfectly OKAY discussion? That allows for feedback? Ideas? People aren't fond of the perk; they have EVERY right to make a thread and start a discussion on whatever topic it is as long as its following the rules.
Complaints are allowed around here. Get used to it, or you'd maybe find another sub-forum more suiting to your needs.

Nurse. I'm a Nurse main
I find myself having lots of Map Control.
I'm able to predict Survivor movement - and I know her weaknesses and when to avoid them.(don't ######### with the trees guys, seriously. just cause she negates pallets doesn't mean they can't juke around a damN StoNE RoCK F$!%#673 6 I mean... shes op)I had dedicated some time to learn The Nurse, as prior I was heavily into the Survivor side of the game. I just found it alot more fun until I decided to pick up the Nurse and work through the frustrations; and because I've played so much Survivor, I was more knowing of her weaknesses than her strengths, so learning her/Killer was not quite hard.
I usually would run Monitor & Abuse, BBQ, Sloppy/Stridor/Bloodhound, Nurse's/Bloodwarden/Shadowborn
:P Bloodwarden only if there seemed to be some sweaty kids in the lobby haha

So, does dropping the survivor actually prevent the flashlight blind from happening when it should or are they just dropping the survivor so they don’t get free from the blind? I don’t go for flashlight saves often so just want to be sure. If they are just dropping the survivor to prevent them from being freed when they are blinded I wouldn’t consider it an exploit.I think this will help clairfy:
When a Survivor has successfully pulled off a flashlight save; there was a tiny window where you could drop the Survivor and negate the save. It kinda exploited the flashlight, but the arguably thing was it was hard to pull off.
Though, I kinda only remember this happening prior to the new pick up speed changes, so I could be wrong lol.

but i hope the ptb, people actually attempt to have real games with the new DS. I am curious to see how it will play out.

Just make it where the number of totems left on the map are shown in the HUD or via the perk Small Game. That way, you know if there's a totem left
That way, you know whether to be cautious of NOED or not.
As a survivor main, that wouldn't be fair to killers.
Just make it so noed effects more people as its leveled so it's not as good on level 1; like ruin.
Listen, I'm all about fairness - but it's proven that NOED can be an extremely strong perk. Somehow. Like, it's almost as if One-hit down perk was never anticipated to be strong. But enough of my salt.
The devs has said before, "we want to bridge the gap between SWF and solos" and one major problem with that are totems. In SWF, you're able to communicate the status of totems.
The counterplay to NOED is viable in that scenario, but I'd like to think as a Solo Survivor - the current NOED counter is too heavily relying on yourself just for an "incase" situation. We're talking travell time + cleansing time
Via a perk, Small Game, I'd run a perk to see how many totems are left on the map. It's a good solution to the plague from this perk. It'd help Solo Survivors.
The solution is not to give away all information, way too much info is already given away if you ask me. You really cant call DBD a horror game anymore.
Just implement ingame voice comms and remove most notifications from the game, there you go..... a little bit more horror again and also a NOED nerf
How would giving us a totem count tracker remove horror from the game but not voice comms? LOL
No voice comms pls i like my silence
i would rather just a perk to run to gain that info
I mean, Nurse's, BBQ, Bond, Empathy, they all do it. It's a fair trade off if you equip the perk.

people get mad about noed because it insta down, so well, here's a rework, remove insta down, reduce missed attack cooldown by 35%, reduce cooldown of successful attacks by 25%, increase movement speed by 5-6-7% reduce stun duration by 25%, terror radious increased by 10 metershappy?
No...
I'm upset because the counterplay is too heavily relied on a team of 4, not a solo survivor. When I played in SWF a year ago, it was never a problem. We'd just say, "hey cleansing a totem, there's 4 left. Destroy them incase of NOED" but solo queueing is such a problem with dull totems. Not everyone wants to do them, and by the time you travel + cleanse the totems you could atleast a generator. But instead, your wasting your time cleansing all 5 totems because of a "what if" situation. With 0 way to tell what totems are left and aren't.
Maybe that'll help understand a little more. atleast that's my opinion.

Both. Starts at 5, and each time a totem is destroyed, hex or dull, it just -1 from the HUD.

Nerf
DS isn't usable at any point in the game anymore. It has conditions. Therefore, nerf.
Unconditional free escape > Conditional Free Escape
-
A Story mode would be cool. I want to dig down more into the lore of the game and a new game mode would be nice.
or a 2v8 mode. It'd be wild but it sounds so fun.
Also, for Spirit to have a vaulting animation
-
I understood that was the defying line (for me) what counted as a win or not; I took in the "pipping" system as more:
You can still lose and pip 1; it just means "hey, you lost, but you weren't bad either.."
If you obviously lose and don't pip or lose a pip, it said hey... they were better than you so we're bumping you down a lil and if you keep sucking you're going down all the way
and a double pip and still losing? (it's happened, atleast for survivor) you died/destroyed but not everyone died for some reason but apparently played like a god, you still deserve to be placed with every ranked people..
So there's kinda a line separating the pip system and what you determine is a win/lose. imo

@Pizzaman said:
Passive Phasing, the missing window vaulting animation and the non-existing phasing sound inside the spirits terror radius (as well as the non-directional phasing sound) do not involve any real mindgames. These are builtin mechanics and they do not involve skill (I have more respect for a skilled Nurse or Hillbilly moonwalking a Jungle Gym than a Spirit). And getting a hit because of them is more like winning a coin toss.
You did not mindgame somebody if you won a coin toss. Only thing is, you can keep repeating to "toss the coin" many many more times, and at some point you will also get a 2nd hit on the survivor. Again, not much skill or mindgames involved here.
So, you can keep tossing your coin and say that it's "Mindgames", but it's not Mindgames. So please stop overusing the term "Mindgame" for everything and everyone.
You've never really played The Spirit, have you? Lol.
-
Agreed.
Nurse is juked easily when blinking. It's not hard to mind game her blinks.
Spirit has better mindgame potential, and this is a game where mind gaming is extremely important during chases.

Why don't we have in game chat or have the option to continue playing with the same players? Why when the killer quit doing the game we lose our offerings and points. Why we can't just keep out points and offeringsCan we do something about Gen rushing, and survivors thinking they are entitled to a free escape with perks like DS and Adren.
They make the game boring and unfun.

We're going to need some recent examples here. All you're saying is that Killer mains are bullies. Whenever some disagrees, you just include them into the group of "bullies" without any reason. This thread just feels like an echo chamber to me.Isn't this exactly what the OP means?
Look at you just degrade this thread simply because you aren't fond of it.
Anyway, pardon my potential long post but...
When the forums were created last year, it was also during a really bad time for the community.. so-to-speak.
Instablinds were just a thing, pallet distribution was ridiculously survivor sided, some windows in some map causing old infinites, and a high... presence of Survivor toxicity.
So, prior to that, what you found on Steam Forums, and Reddit, were a hierarchy in which Survivors were placed above Killers. It was as distasteful as you're experiencing now, just the opposite way.
What I found was, most people who play "Killer" more than "Survivor" migrated to these forums and took dominance in the General Discussion area.
It's not prevalent throughout these forums, but specifically in General Discussions, it's expected to be mocked, silenced, and insulted if anything is but Killer sided. They still live in 2018, and forgot the tremendous and impactful changes that occurred during last year. We've never seen this game in a better state; yet something always hasn't been enough for some people, who are just Killer-biased.
Again, it's not as present in other sub-forums. General Discussion is typically the first place people go when they get onto forums - and you can imagine ignorance comes alongside.

Dead hard is ass after the exhaustion nerf you're much better off running balanced landingBalanced is literally the strongest exhaustion perk right now. My god I'm just in love with it.
That's a matter of opinion.
Every since the nerf, it's the complete opposite.
Any sprint-like perk went down in strength tremendously from the exhaustion nerf... and well, adaption.
Dead Hard went up in superiority BECAUSE of the nerf. Majority of the time - if you have DH and Self Care, by the time you're down self caring, you got your dead hard back. In fact, when you're healthy, you don't have to worry about your exhaustion timer either unlike with Sprint-based exhaustion perks.
Not to mention, BL you can't prolong just any loop unlike Dead Hard. Dead Hard can be used at any given time and loop and if placed in the right hands, feels impossible to catch the person.
Also, what do you do if you used your BL and the killer caught of and injured you? You're way more vulnerable than you are with Dead Hard. Hell, i don't even heal anymore because of how good Dead Hard is.
Only time BL is better than DH is on Haddonfield or The Game.
In regards to OP, I think DH is strong as it is.
No. Balanced landing opens up new loops on every map. It's more complicated then DeAd HaRd LeTs Me LoOp LoNgEr. Balanced makes really strong loops in every maps except the one with a tree in the middle. For example, in the Boat Swamp map, the boat is an efficient loop thanks to balanced landing and both the windows become loopable. You have little chance of getting caught if you mindgame it. Dead hard can't do that.
Btw while we're on the topic of dead hard, even Sprint burst outclasses Dead hard. With it, you can make a killer avoid a hit but also gain distance (3 hits to down). You can counter a Nurse who blinks, a Spirits phase, a Billy/Leatherface's saw, Hags trap triggering, Pigs dash, Wraiths speed burst, Clowns tonic (if timed perfectly), Legions frenzy (if timed perfectly) and a hatchet. With a small downside of walking around.
Dead hard counters traps, bodyblockers and lets you loop longer. The tierlist of Exhaustion perks is more like this:
Balanced then Sprint burst, then Dead hard then Lithe. Obviously Dead hard is still an amazing perk but not even comparable to Balanced or Sprint burst.
I bet if it wasn't for Tru3, I doubt Dead hard would even be so meta. It's a great perk obviously but Balanced landing and Sprint burst outclass it.
Whoa whoa whoa...
First of, people were using Dead Hard once the exhaustion nerfs hit. Don't blame a streamer that has nothing to do with the meta.
Secondly, that's because of the reduced stun time. Not from the sprint itself. Even then, Balanced Landing does not prevent a hit. Like, rarely. It gives you distance, like any Sprint-based perk.
Sorry for my rudeness but it's hilarious that you think Sprint Burst is better than Dead Hard against a Spirit or a Nurse.... like have you played with Dead Hard at all?
Dead Hard is a direct counter to the Nurse's Blink. You are GUARANTEED to not be hit with it. That means, your 3 hit-down still applies.
Like ######### dude, you do realize SB is baited out like DH right? You wait for the Sprint Burst, and then you charge up your blink or go into phase walking. If you think distance against a distance-closing killer is better than PREVENTING a hit they must take.... I can't credit you.
Also not to mention, what about those times when you're injured and you needed Dead hard to get to a window? That could of bought you countless more loops.
What about at a pallet? Dead hard there and you're either gaurenteed a safe pallet drop or 1 more loop around that pallet. ACTIVATED AT ANYTIME YOU WANT BY A PRESS OF A BUTTON.
Dead Hard can counter all of the above that you posted too. Infact, you're invulnerable almost when you have Dead Hard unlike Sprint Burst, Lithe, or BL. You can be hit before you drop, before you sprint (it's happened) or as you're vaulting. Dead Hard prevents those hits.
Dropping from heights loses distance anyway. It's weak to even with BL because of the time it takes to drop and the animation. Regardless. It's still a good perk, but I'm going to have to utterly disagree with you. It's the best exhaustion perk. It's a bigger clutch than Adrenaline. Anyone who's good at this game would agree DH outclasses all exhaustion perks.
Sure, it's great on the boat map, but unlike Dead Hard, Balanced Landing is not always viable on every map. And there's more non-viable maps than Shelter Woods. Dead Hard is viable on every single map in every situation. Sooo...Btw, walking makes you lose map pressure.
Maybe let's agree to disagree.

Tbh, Freddy is actually a pretty decent killer. I've never understood all the complaints and always had the feeling that killers complain about him simply because he cannot camp very well and because of how easy it is to get unhooked and escape when exit gates are open.Other than that I find him very strong in a chase. He lands a first hit faster than any other killer, because he can mindgame very effectively when he makes his appearance. He does very well in chases, since he is so small and it's hard to see where he is going. And his power can be very effective to stall the game if you use the skill check add-ons.
He also has the luxury of breaking chases whenever he wants because he can still keep tabs on you. As long as they aren't injured the only way to wake up is fail a gen or find another survivor, and if you pay attention to what they are doing you can just sleep them again when they wake up.
Freddy's really good if you don't have self care to wake you up beside a pallet, you have to risk it and go to the gen or find someone.

I doubt that NOED can fully carry killers to high ranks. Maybe when they face eaqully bad survivors but if they suck even NOED won't save them. I personally wouldn't mind one bit if DS and NOED were removed but losing NOED would actually suck since it's main core of endgame builds which are quite fun. Not like DS which is tottaly BS and works all game without any downside (having only 1 use isn't a downside).I hope that next chapter will finally do something about both (mainly DS). But knowing the devs it will take another 2 years before some impactful changes happens with DS or NOED.
I agree DS is by far the worst perk in the game in terms of fairness, mainly because multiple survivors can use it. You can play around an obsession DS, but not around non-obsession DS.
I think a good solution to NOED, without actually changing it, would be to give it some sort of "tell" that gives away the killer has NOED before end game. Like I said above I run NOED on my Trapper to counter gen rush games, and I would be more than happy to let survivors know I am strapped JUST so they take the time to slow down and do totems. If the game lasts more time and I don't get my NOED I'm totally fine with that because that's really what I want.
Maybe some kind of noise notification that would randomly happens once per game after survivors pop a gen. It would make it so that survivors who are observant to their surroundings could know when to do totems. Problem might be that killer would be unable to defend his totems so it might need to add auras for unlit totems for killers.
I think it should be subtle. I said in previous posts that when you kick a gen as killer the sparks are red for like 10 seconds. It's a very small thing, but astute survivors would see it and know "NOED". But at the same time it's low key enough that even though survivors might not notice. Plus as killer you could avoid the tell by not kicking gens, which is detrimental to your goals but let's you hide the fact you have NOED so it's a trade-off. And still those astute survivors could notice you never kick a gen and might realize "NOED" still.
Pop Goes the Weasel does that anyway
But yeah, some hidden notion towards NOED would be nice.
