  • Great change, all the killers whining is justified, because is a good perk vs swf teams, while against random survivors became op, after they changed the hex placements and didn't do anything to fix ranking and matchmaking.

As a mostly solo survivor player, I am very happy and I might actually start playing again if this goes live.

I know a lot of Trapper mains who plays him from 2016. Trust me, he only destroy potatoes survivors. Don't even put me to make a list about all of Trapper's weaknesses, it would take ages.

That's not true. He has a very strong power that can end chases very fast and even catch multiple survivors at once, which only leatherface can do.

Good trapper players are rare though. Most of them just put traps in pallets and under windows, which means they basically sabotage themselves. However from time to time one of those good trapper players comes along and hides his traps in the least expected places and mindfucks everyone. That's why I put him so high, because I've witnessed many times how strong he can be in the right hands. Same with Hag.

Huntress is the easiest killer to loop. Even if your aim is godlike, you still need line of sight, which you won't get very often against a good survivor.

  • @Marcus said:

Trapper is the worst killer in the game, even Otzdarva's Trapper gets rekted by half decent teams, there is no way he is A tier. Clown better than Myers ?!! Plague and Huntress that low ?!!

Trapper, on paper, yeah, is one of the worse, but in the right hands, which he mostly is at rank 1, he just destroys everyone. Especially if it's someone that has played survivor a lot and knows the routes that they like to take. Plague and huntress are very easy to loop at rank 1.

  • I think it's only fair and balanced. 3 survivors stand no chance anyway against a half decent killer.

  • It's a huge nerf since I play solo with noob rank 1 teammates that all go do the same gen instead of spreading.

  • Maybe you should play a less challenging game if this actually is an issue for you.

    this is a T E A M game for survivors sadly

if you, as a member of a 4 person team, expect to have as much agency as the solo player you're facing, you know very little about game design

So you suggest they need to add voice chat for solo survivors? I don't get it?

  • I stand behind @not_Queen on this one. The devs have the tools to monitor the health of the game. They have the statistics. They know how many players disconnect vs legion and for other reasons, which translates into not having fun.

    You don't.

  • @CashelP14 said:

I'm going to guess after the gens are completed it will either be one of two things.

    1. Survivors will only have 2 minutes to escape before the doors become permanently blocked.

    2. After the gens are completed survivors need to collect parts to build the exit door panel to then open it.

    Wishful thinking!

    1. This will promote survivors hiding to force killer to disconnect, so no.
    2. I highly doubt they will change it so much.

The next patch as you saw with Legion rework is meant to treat the causes of the survivor disconnects. I don't think they will change the end game too much, I think it's just a pretense to nerf noed. We'll see.

It punishes survivors for 2 things

Not expecting the killer to have it and not doing totems to counter it.

Killers have to keep track and always expect you to have something like Adrenaline. So you need to expect killers to have BBQ and NOED. It's one of the few perks you can outright prevent from activating; so do totems to stop it.

Except you don't have any control of what your fellow teammates do and no communication. So you don't know if they are cleansing totems and how many have been cleansed.

  • Sure, we'll wait, but I just find it intriguing. Initially I thought it has something to do with hatch, since it has been asked for so long. But today with all the survivor disconnects, most patches from now on will be survivor sided to address that and the major issue with the endgame on the survivor side is noed.

  • Expect changes to NOED, Remember Me and Blood Warden, if they are doing this.

If survivors weren't countering BBQ that's a fault of the players, not the perk. BBQ meant stealth was harder cause the killer had a general idea where you were, sure. Do you know how boring it is to play killer when you never see the survivor? BBQ only fixed problems, any new problems that emerged were solely because of survivors refusing to accept the counters it had and aren't reflective of the perks abilities whatsoever

Yeah, unfortunately you need a team to survive so even if 1-2 counter it, like I did and the other 2 didn't the match would still end up in a disaster. This happened constantly. I don't think those of us that countered should suffer because teammates didn't want to adapt. And let's be honest, the counter wasn't that good, sometimes you didn't have time to get in range. Should've been lockers from the start.

You are right about survivors refusing to accept the counters, but I think the devs should've done something about it, since they found looping and gen rushing as the true counter.

  • @NoShinyPony said:

@Sinner Maybe more survivors started looping because they realized that the chase is what's most fun about DbD? There might be some players who feel hiding is more fun but I don't think it's the majority.

I think everyone realizes the chase is the most fun in DBD as soon as they start playing. I doubt there is any other aspect of the game that is fun besides the chase. Maybe in swf when you work together to bully the killer but that is a different story, I am talking about my experience as a solo survivor here.

    @ClogWench

BBQ changed the game dramatically, it was a cause for sure. Survivors weren't countering it at all. I was going in range all the time but not my teammates, all games were #########, like they are now with the disconnects.

Survivors and killers will always adapt to dramatic changes, no matter if it's orthodox or not and it is important to foresee how they will adapt.

You mentioned Legion, survivors adapted by not healing+adrenaline. Same with BBQ, it changed the gameplay so much. Suddenly a killer that can teleport in a few seconds on the other side of the map was instantly in a chase after hooking. That was huge. Of course everyone started looping, what else you could do. On Billy the aura wasn't even gone by the time he got to the survivor.

edit: It's ok for killer mains to aknowledge what I am saying if you played back than and know I am right. Don't worry no one will nerf BBQ now, it already has enough counters, it's no longer a problem, but the damage has been done.

  • @ClogWench said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/405802#Comment_405802

Pretty sure those were all issues even before BBQ. And I can't see any correlation between the two either. Sounds like you just haven't made much attempt to counter it.

You didn't read what I said. I said ALL survivors.

Let me give you a short history lesson since I am probably one of the few that have been here since the beginning.

Before BBQ, there was this category of survivors called toxic. They looped the killer whole match and abused infinites, actual infinites. Obviously everyone hated them, normal survivors and killers alike, since no one was having fun. Killer was not having fun for sure, survivors were not interacting with the killer and there is no fun in that.

A lot of normal survivors, myself included, used to body block these individuals to help the killer catch them, so we can have a normal game.

After BBQ, at rank 1, all Billies and Nurses went apeshit with that perk. It was impossible to escape. There was no counter besides going in range, but teammates were not using it. So pretty much all matches were a disaster for survivors. The only matches when survivors managed to escape was when one of those toxic survivors that I mentioned above entered the lobby.

So it suddenly became obvious that the only way to adapt is to do what they were doing. I started looping, tru3talent started looping, everyone started looping and gen rushing. Also rank 1 dictates the playstyle so It spread like wildfire at all ranks.

If you check steam forums around 1 month after LF release, you will see there are loads of threads about looping, that were there before, sure, but not in such a large amount.

  • Game went downhill when Leatherface was added with BBQ, that's what triggered the looping and gen rushing in all survivors and all the crap that followed was because of this one disaster perk.

  • I disagree with what you said about the disease. We had DCs before, because of what you said, no repercussions. It happened all the time.

At the scale it is happening now, it's something else.

This is not the first time. As an old player I can remember at least 2 more events similar in nature but very different in scale:

    1. Freddy
    2. Nurse fatigue bug

I can't pinpoint exactly what's causing the DCs now but I am willing to bet it's a combination of:

    1. Ranking system (people at wrong ranks, bad teammates, etc)
    2. Matchmaking (waiting too long for a match that is going to be crap because of no.1)
    3. Constant killer buffs and survivor nerfs (boring and predictable gameplay)
    4. Same survivor perk meta since forever (boring)
  • @TWiXT

You're lucky, for me it's more like 80% of the time. No I am not enjoying the game, that's why I am here, on the forums, complaining.

Well yeah, it would be better, but it feels like there's a critical mass. It feels like they're so many. Wouldn't banning so many people 'cause even more problems?

Wouldn't it make more sense to treat the disease rather than the symptom?

  • Good idea, it will help the DC epidemic for sure.

No amount of changes makes up for not using perks dude.

No one plays like that, maybe in some swf.

  • @TWiXT

Ask yourself if the fear of being banned will 'cause the survivors to enjoy the game.

  • How would you fix the dc pandemic, just curious?

I love how you just ignore the fact that survivors should just stop playing for fun if they want to escape.

Take this guy for example, he wrote on the first page:

"Can anybody post the "killer main btw" meme?"

Also, the first reply was from @NoShinyPony : "I stopped after reading the first point. DbD has no auto aim. The assist only makes for a smoother animation, nothing more. Hitboxes collide, it's a hit. Have you played one single match as a killer?"

Both with over a thousand pots.

All they do is make fun of people that have legitimate problem, A PROBLEM SO LEGITIMATE THAT A DEV DECIDED TO REPLY TO WITH A WALL OF TEXT.

  • Every thread that is opened by a survivor main attempting to bring feedback on an issue is being bombarded by an army of killers with thousands of posts, that bring no arguments and hijack the topic.

If you are not one of them I am sorry!

That doesn't change the fact that these people actually exist. They sit on the forums all day, refreshing each second, waiting for a survivor thread, just to reply with "bait" and other crap. The OP eventually just gives up on the conversation, since there is no conversation to be had. How is that accurate feedback for the devs?

  • @Shad03

I can't stand you either mr 2000 posts, you're the reason every match survivors DC and suicide on the hook, because of your inaccurate feedback. You and all the other thousands-of-posts-forum-killers have been feeding not_queen crap for a year and the game is in the awful state it is in now, waiting to die, because of people like you that want to 4k every game but don't have the skill to do so.

Forum killers with thousands of posts, go away!!!

  • @NoShinyPony

    I don't play SWF

I am mostly trying to lose the killer rather than loop.

I just see a lot better options in my perk slots than MoM and I am tired of them not adding a perk that gives me the reaction: "I have to get this"

Meanwhile, on the killer side: Make your choice, Bamboozle, Pop goes the weasel, Spirit Fury, Rancor, Discordance, Corrupt Intervion, Infectious Fright. All give me this reaction.

  • @OrionsFury4789 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/391033#Comment_391033

I've tested MoM and it doesn't work when the killer uses their power, let's say you're against a nurse.... Well unless she chooses to not blink and hit you three times to get your stacks you won't get them, once activated it will prevent you from the dying state for that one hit but it's really only gonna be effective against m1 killers who don't use their power to hit you, the perk totally relies on the killer not using their power which with a nurse that's most likely not gonna happen, also spirit will have this effect if she can hit the survivors coming out of phase instead of while running. But once you've activated the perk it doesn't matter if they use power or not it's just to gain the stacks to use it

Exactly, also Billy, Leatherface, Plague, Legion, Huntress, Pig. Hag too?

Even if they buff it to work against their power, it's still not worth running, since it's one time use and the aura thing is an insane drawback.

  • @Delfador said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/391036#Comment_391036

I honestly disagree, mettle of man + flip flop seems interesting enough.

I wish we could have our own borrowed time for solo survivors for self use with mettle of man instead of ignoring the 3rd hit but it is what it is. It would be as strong as borrowed time too.

From a killer's point it would also be a lot more fair imo. Instead of hitting the unhooked survivor, just hit the unhooker like you do to avoid borrowed time saves. So there is a counter play. Right now, there is nothing you can do but to eat the thing with killers like spirit or hag.

Flip flop is situational. There's no slugging meta currently so there is no reason to run it.

I ran Unbreakable a lot of times and I didn't get slugged so I swapped it for something else, obviously as soon as I swapped I got slugged. :))

Mettle of men is also situational since it's only for basic attacks. And only one time use. Also I think the aura is permanent after you heal since it doesn't mention a timer on it. So the killer sees you at all times.

Why would I use Mettle of Men instead of DS, Iron Will, Urban, Dance with me, Adrenaline, We'll make it?

  • For me they don't raise that reaction of "Oh wow, I have to get that perk", you know?

With almost every killer, they get a perk like that. I haven't seen one of these survivor perks since David.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOT7aLJ3cYw

Here's some facts for you. Killers still have no chance against survivors that just do the goal. Do most play like this? No because it's ridiculously boring. But the point still stands that they COULD play like this.

    I don't care about swf, I play solo. :P

  • See what I mean? 817 posts too, lol.

    Hello

    interesting read, thanks a lot.

Please let me chime in on the Listening to Feedback part. My goal with the post is not to make an excuse but more explaining our though process.

Our goal with the PBT is so that players can give us feedback on the upcoming content and also find bugs or exploits in the balance that our small team could not find. Its simply impossible for us to find all variations and tricks on newly released content. Any online game faces that problem actually.

As for the feedback received, we do read and go through a lot of posts on our forum/reddit and look at stream/youtube to see what players think of the pbt. We take the feedback but it doesn't mean that we have to agree or put in everything. Even though it might seem that one specific point is a general opinion, just because there's a lot of post about it. There's always a number of players who will find it totally fine but keep silent about it. We take feedback and compare to our metric and also use our gut feeling in the process to choose what will go through or not.

For the Plague as an example, we got that some players feel that the fountains should not heal. We have playtested that scenario for weeks and came to the conclusion that they should heal to give even more incentive to Survivor to use them. We think its part of her balance are core design, and we have decided to leave it as is...for now.

But we did increase her vomit effect duration and Purge duration, based on feedback, since the original timing was perceived as not effective enough.

This is just a small example of how we deal with feedback. On a design principle its never good to makes a lot of changes all at once either. Especially since there is not much time left between the PTB and final release. We have to implement the changes, test them design/balance side and then send the changes to QA to make sure that these changes have not created bugs. We usually keep our ptb changes to value tweaks. Its impossible to do complete rework within that time frame.

I'm sorry that you have decided to leave the game. Although I hope that you will keep following it because they're a lot of changes that are coming up which have been community request for a long time (killer rework, gameplay changes, scoring rebalance, ranks...). I cannot mention them specifically, but I do hope we can announce them on our stream soon so you can see that the game is evolving based on what our player wants.

    Thanks again

I am sorry but your feedback is not very accurate. Mostly because the forums are dominated by forum killers. They're very loud and active, they spend more time on the forums than in-game because they're not very good and want the game changed in their favor. Every post that is even remotely survivor sided they bombard it with troll replies and all sort of crap. They have thousands of post, it's very easy to spot them.

That's why the game is so killer sided now and every game a survivor DCs or suicides on the hook, because you received the wrong feedback. Feedback from rank 15 killers that can't evolve and want to be rank 1 like their false prophet tru3talent.

I know it sounds harsh, but it's the truth and if you don't see it now, you will see it at some point, hopefully it won't be too late because you created a really beautiful game and I'd hate to see it go.

  • They haven't separated anything. I am in a lobby right now with 2 russians and a chinese guy and I am European.

  • On pc, rank 12 = instant lobby, fine with me.

Wrong topic. Noob killer topics are somewhere else. This is for old experienced players trying to help devs solve the current crisis.

  • What's more shocking is how quiet they're keeping at the moment. No announcements not devs replying on the forums.
