tunneling is actually the most effective killer strategy in most spots. Let's say there's survivor a and survivor b, you already hurt survivor a during his unhook and now you could down survivor a or b both with the same effort. There's no reason to go for survivor a currently because a still has to heal up but B is 1 stage higher before being completely out of the game.

The common useless tunneling that you're refering to is ignoring everybody else, not even giving survivors in your way a hit to slow down their genprogress and still going after the hurt target no matter what which yes, screws over bad killers.

That is if you hard camp or face camp, which I haven't seen happen too often recently, except the end game period. Usually you can find a window to unhook without getting hit.

hopefully after this this change bad killers and survivors will learn to play and will stop to complain about literally everything.

Well I am still gonna complain about NOED, which helps noob killers rank up to a place where they don't belong and than feel the game is not balanced and come to the forums to complain to the devs with unrealistic remarks.

Q&A on DS has said their not considering changing NOED since it already has Counters in game. They said the new DS and NOED are on the same level now which i agree with.

It's not about counters or whatever. Think of it as exploiting the ranking system. You're in a way cheating to climb up the ladder.

  • @Bongbingbing said:
I mean I suppose it is a nerf to gen rush but also a buff to Gen times in general depending on how you look at it since the Killer is constantly switching targets.
Let's assume everybody runs DS now that means the Killer has a choice to Slug, take the DS or Switch targets to a healthy survivor and start a new chase all over, all of which take time away from the Killer doing their objective and into the hands of survivors's. Healing only takes 16 seconds at base compared to however long a chase can be and that's without considering adrenaline, and perks/add ons that boost healing speed.

And I agree Endgame is going to be hell for a killer if everyone saves their DS till the end.

Killer doesn't know who has DS though. Healing takes more than 16seconds. You have to run to a safe place first, heal, than go look for a gen. So its way more time earned if you don't tunnel.

  • Love the changes. I can actually use this perk now against those nasty tunnelers and its guaranteed to work too. With the current DS, I only got to use it half the time because of missing skill check or getting dribbled. Half the time when I was obsession, cause when I wasn't, not much chance of it triggering. So it's no longer a wasted perk slot. Also killers can easily dodge it by not tunneling. Good job BHVR!!!

  • Yes it's a bug. Before there was no timing, whenever you used pallet or flashlight during pick-up animation, the survivor escaped. They tried fixing it at some point and killers went apeshit so they left the bug as is.

@Sinner As you know we are working on Dedicated Servers and lots of changes regarding game balance. We are hoping that upcoming changes will help some of the issue we are currently facing with Disconnects. Harsher punishment for leavers is also considered but we will not change our system before we migrate on Dedicated Servers. Rewards for players with good behavior would also be something we would like to see but it is currently in the backlog.

Thanks for answering, hopefully the game balance changes you are working on will stop the survivors from disconnecting. <3

  • @not_Queen can you answer my question as well please? or do you just respond to confortable questions?

What @Orion said is right. We are not communicating our threshold because it leads to abuse. And we are doing bans in waves because that's what the system allows us to do at the moment. We all wish that the punishment was more strict for disconnecting but that's what we are able to do right now because of how our system registers disconnects. Hopefully we will get a better system when we migrate the game on Dedicated Servers.

    @not_Queen
Any plans to address the issues of why players are disconnecting? It's worse right now than when Freddy got released. Every other game someone disconnects or suicides on the hook. Isn't banning just a palliative?

  • Guess what, high rank survivors do the same crap, thanks to the poorly designed ranking system where no one is at their approppiate rank.

They already made the base pallet destroy animation faster, that's why brutal strength was nerfed. There's no room for such buffs, since pallets have the role of breaking the chase and encouraging survivors to lose the killer, which is very hard to do anyway, because of scratch marks. Any more killer buffs like this and you'll just be promoting more looping. The game needs to go into a direction that moves survivors away from looping to have a less boring gameplay. Your suggestion does exactly the opposite.

So, you think survivors should have it easier?

    That's a completely different discussion.
I am just telling you what these sort of changes will bring to the gameplay. If you enjoy running around in circles as the killer, by all means, it's a good idea. I don't enjoy it, neither as killer or survivor, but I am forced to do it, because of poor changes like this, which ruined the game.

I don't really see how it's a bad idea. It forces survivors to play more skillful.

Can you elaborate please? Give me a specific situation, cause I don't follow.

From what you've said, you think survivors should be made to escape a chase, not loop the killer. Looping is a main part of the game, though. This new brutal strength would require survivors to pay attention to when a killer is breaking a pallet, instead of listening then running.

Looping was considered an exploit for a long time, some people still consider it. It was never meant to be part of game, just something that happened, like 360s. You still haven't given me a good example of why this would add more mindgames. Please, pretend i am an idiot when you give your example, that way I will understand.

When you play survivor and are looping a killer at a pallet, most of the time you hide around a corner and wait for the pallet breaking noise to start running away, OR you wait to see if the killer continues looping with you. Brutal strength would give more leeway to killers in a chase by creating less reaction time between the pallet breaking noise and the actual pallet being broken.

I am sorry dude, I don't understand anything, but good luck with your perk suggestion nevertheless.

  • It's a wild guess but it might be the ranking system again. I believe survivors are depipping and giving low rank killers a hard time, which results in an increased NOED usage. And increased NOED usage means increased DS usage.

I wan't to make a long ass essay about how I feel about DBD, and thing's I would like to see change. Not salt changes, but genuine ideas to try balance the game. However, knowing the community. Is there any point in me using my time to type it out? Or will the elitist DBD players just come along and ruin the comments? So, to reiterate. Should I use my time to make a geuine essay about DBD, or just leave it to spare me the salty comments?

You sure can bring any suggestions you want, but bare in mind, it will all be based on your experience. You're either a bad, mediocre or good player, which makes you have different perception of the game. Also it matters how much you play each side. That's why there is a lot of drama on the forums, because everyone experiences the game differently, based on their skill level.

  • @LordziPL
You forgot to say the killer will be a shapeshifter.

  • It's a goddamn shapeshifter, I am telling you.

  • Well the idea of pallets and stuns is to give survivors the chance and to encourage them to lose the killer. If you make changes to that system, which is already bad right now, 'cause of scratch marks, you'll only be encouraging looping.

  • People are using more insta heals because of the healing nerf. What did you expect?

There was another dev that said something like he can"T talk more about it because "he is watching". A shapeshifter would be able to watch survivors without them being alerted, so it's even more proof that my theory is correct. You'll see!

Lol an assumed flag and the words he’s watching and you deduce the new killer is a shape shifting hippo.

Id love to be at a drunk party with you lol

Haha, yeah I am fun at parties. I never said it will be a hippo though, just inspired from the hippo legend, like Huntress was only inspired from Russian legend.

  • There was another dev that said something like he can"T talk more about it because "he is watching". A shapeshifter would be able to watch survivors without them being alerted, so it's even more proof that my theory is correct. You'll see!

  • Is the Shapeshifter teaser out yet?

  • I forgot what I wanted to say
  • It's a great idea, but they need to make these healing debuff perks/add-ons not stack, otherwise it will take to heal as long as it takes to do a gen.

  • Guys, kids play this game. It's only natural that 12 year olds hop on these forums with ideas. Yes it's stupid, but we shouldn't be too harsh about it. We might affect his development.

  • Dude, they disconnect because of moris, insta-downs, legion and other crap they think is unfair or something. Make it harder for them and you'll get more disconnects. It's already unbearable, I can barely find a decent game. I have to bring a god damn key with me all the time now if I want to escape, cause it's always someone disconnecting or suiciding on the hook.

edit: You got 30% survival with solo survivor and 70% with swf. If you want, make a thread about swf not nerfing survivors in general. Seriously, think before you post. Whatever issues you have are with swf. Solo survivors are at a huge disadvantage atm.

  • Yeah add secondary objectives with today's disconnect rates, see how that goes. :))))

  • They added second objectives in a past event. The survival rate dropped below 30%.

  • Trapper is top tier. All you have to do is play survivor like 150 hours. Once you do that, you'll know where to set the traps and I'd be surprised if someone escapes.

  • Well nice of you to post about it. I sometimes come across these rank 1 Freddy mains that are doing very well and I have a lot of respect for them. After the game I always tell them: "dude, go on the forums and tell people how to play Freddy properly", since they'll never believe a survivor main.

  • Tbh, Freddy is actually a pretty decent killer. I've never understood all the complaints and always had the feeling that killers complain about him simply because he cannot camp very well and because of how easy it is to get unhooked and escape when exit gates are open.

Other than that I find him very strong in a chase. He lands a first hit faster than any other killer, because he can mindgame very effectively when he makes his appearance. He does very well in chases, since he is so small and it's hard to see where he is going. And his power can be very effective to stall the game if you use the skill check add-ons.

  • @Poweas said:
Add some secondary objective where you find shards in shrines or something.

They did that for Howling Grounds, survival rate went below 30%

  • @The_Crusader said:
But how can it be justified when the survival rate is below 50%?

I'd like to see them remove DS, Adrenaline and NOED and then see what the survival rate ends up at. Don't include moris or instaheals in the results either.

Survival rate is below 40%, with the disconnect rates, I'd say.

  • Gens are boring so it doesn't make any sense to increase the time. Secondary objectives, not sure about that, we all saw what happened with that flower sucking event.

  • That's just simply impossible, with the disconnect rates. The devs are probably working on killer nerfs right now. The recent BBQ nerf is proof.
  • I think you might be 12 years old.
  • Killers are in the best spot they'll ever be right now. You just need to git gud.
Bare in mind there were times when there were infinites, 30 pallets, double pallets, vacuum, super fast vault, no gen damage, no ruin, no exhaustion, brand new parts, super fast self care, no mangled,  no hooks(sabo) and a lot of other stuff they nerfed.

Yet the game was still very popular and good killers could 4k at rank 1.

So you coming now and complain is just laughable. There won't be more survivor nerfs from this point on. The disconnect rate among survivors is off the roof. More nerfs and game is dead. So git gud.
  • Yeah, that's why I made the thread. Because there are a lot of people at rank 1, that don't know how to counter high skilled killers. You can't run a rank 1 killer for 5 gens, unless he is boosted by NOED, that's not what I expect. I expect from my fellow rank 1 survivors to not die 5 seconds after they've been found. Hence the tips.

  • There was another thread like this where I said I was happy about it. In the meantime I changed my mind, because I am terribly frustrated of the fact that I spend 50k bps to get an offering and no one else uses one, than they take my lamp.

Real extreme op combo that doesn't need any skill at all and is a complete abuse of the game mecanics.

Are devs going to nerf instaheals as they did with BNP? Like healing 50 or 75% of the survivor's bar without actually free healing a survivor instantly?

4 instaheals is a much bigger problem than any nurse with strong addons. Is simply not fair.

I feel you, but have you tried to play killer with 2 ultra rare addons and ebony mori? It's the same thing. You can also see the medkits in lobby and sort of figure out when its swf to use that combo. That's what I do when I play killer. Sure it sucks for survivors, but at least I won't be bullied. Oh and Franklin's is a must, of course.

I remember their names. They were experienced players but without those 3 instas they would all have died I dont think franklin makes a difference there. And i play Huntress.

Oh well, I like to adjust for different scenarios. I found that doctor and trapper work very well vs swf.
