No, the context was that if someone was taking the game way too seriously, it's not good for anyone. Or the community. As in toxic. You said, some people find that fun, after previously stating that you cant define someone elses fun.

So I asked if you defended people, having fun by being toxic (going too tryhard or taking things too seriously) to the community.

The context was that "fun" is subjective, to which I replied that some people find playing to win fun.

You are the one saying that playing to win is inherently negative. You're also pretending I agree and am somehow "defending toxic behavior" by merely explaining that fun is subjective. You are being disingenuous.

  • @Cardgrey said:

I wonder if this happens in rl lol

I did that when I turned friendly after three Survivors either DC'd or killed themselves on the hook.

  • @Carpemortum said:
So are you defending people having fun by being toxic to the community?

No, I'm saying some people find "playing to win" fun, which is exactly what I wrote. Did you even read what I wrote, or were you just looking for something to complain about?

Lol what EXACTLY does whispers do, in detail? Ive never used it i always seemed like a perk that would be only helpful once per game or not really at all.

With a little thought, you can triangulate a Survivor's position. You can also walk past large areas with the confidence that nobody's near them.

    Every single clue?

Interested to know how your wendigo theorie explain the scribbled name on the wall and the mark scratched underneath each one.

Wendigo fits none of the clues and @AshleyWB knows it. They're just in denial.

Literally nobody agrees with Tyde outside of his fanbase.

Hag mains came in to his twitch channel to defend the position that hag was not low tier and Tyde just would not debate them.
He chose instead to get frustrated, shutting them down with logical fallacies and/or bans(possible timeouts). The also joined his server and tried to make the same appeal, to no avail.
Prominent hag playing community members and TydeTime have a long standing grudge, the reasons of which are numerous but I think it's of value to point that out when showing off that his list has a clear bias in some areas.

I'm not going to pick apart his list because I don't really feel like it, and I think people should play killers before passing judgement on them personally.
Tier lists shouldn't be held as some sort of gospel, people need to think for themselves.

He strikes me as the type of player who can't recognize when something is good even if it doesn't fit his playstyle.

What I mean is the killer gets the final decision, it's not a vs thing

So the Killer gets the choice between Survivor-favored map #1 or Survivor-favored map #2? And inversely, if the Killer gets to put up options, Survivors get the choice between Killer-favored map #1 and Killer-favored map #2? No thanks.

I don't believe Maurice would damage the mystery of who the killer is any more than a Nurses scream, or wraith bell. Especially not Myers or pig.

The Killer can control whether to use their power, and the Pig requires the existence of the boxes as part of her mechanics. Map changes that give away the Killer are not supposed to happen.

  • Dude, I sometimes forget I have Whispers equipped and start wondering what all the noise is (it's Whispers).

Yeah , we all know it's not fun to lose. It's completely not being a pussy dodging over and over ;)

There's a difference between losing and being trolled by the opponent. Why are you pretending you don't know this?

    Yeah , right.
Because every swf is out there to troll you. ALL OF THEM D:
Man , just stop , you talk so much bs...
I know you're like the living meme in here but man...just stop.

Try reading what I actually wrote. Talking at people isn't as effecting as talking with people.

  • That would ruin the point of the hook appearance matching the map and not the Killer.

  • Survivors have never been teased before, have they?

  • @Vietfox said:
As long as that makes u feel better. I personally don't need to dodge swf to have fun

When balancing things you have to be mindful of both sides; Killers and Survivors have to be equal. But it is my bad for not being more specific as one could indeed take the skill check bit the wrong way, and I get how keeping the Cleansed progress to be kept could feel off putting, so I will edit the post and be more clear.

1 Killer has to be equal to 4 Survivors. One of the problems with your "Quick Fix" threads is that you're ignoring all the nuances of the mechanics. Another one is that you seem to want to have mechanics that allow for a 1v1 comparison between any one Killer and any one Survivor, which spits in the face of what an asymmetrical game is supposed to be like.

  • It's not cowardice to prevent a game you know is not going to be fun. Games are meant to be pleasant, that's why people play them.

Wait a damn second, that is the new killer, he/she looks like a The Puppetmaster

its probably a he because the last killer was female

why would it be a male, it could be a female you dont know!

IIRC, since the Nurse, all Killers have followed a female-male pattern. Last Killer was female, so this one is probably male.

  • @FoggyDownpour said:
This is pretty much what I was going to say. Having different regions be drawn first is great, but only if there is a pretty even spread of sub maps within each region. As it stands currently, here is the region/sub-region break down:
[1] Yamaoka Estate - Family Residence
[1] Gideon Meat Plant - The Game
    [1] Springwood - Badham Preschool
[2] Backwater Swamp - Grim Pantry, The Pale Rose
    [1] Lery's Memorial Institute - Treatment Theatre
    [1] Red Forest - Mother's Dwelling
    [1] Haddonfield - Lampkin Lane
[2] Crotus Prenn Asylum - Disturbed Ward, Father Campbell's Church
[5] Autohaven Wreckers - Wretched Shop, Wrecker's Yard, Azarov's Resting Place, Blood Lodge, Gas Heaven
[5] Coldwind Farm - Rotten Fields, Rancid Abattoir, The Thompson House, Fractured Cowshed, Torment Creek
[5] Macmillan Estate - Groaning Storehouse, Shelter Woods, Suffocation Pit, Coal Tower, Ironworks of Misery

If this was re-introduced, it would mean that we would see Lampkin Lane far more often than Coal Tower. There are already some maps that I feel like we see far more often than others, I would hate to have many maps even scarcer than they already are. A 9% chance of going to Lampkin vs a 1.8% chance of ever seeing Gas Heaven. That sounds awful. Yes, some of your hated maps would have a smaller chance, but so would some of your favorites

Thus proving that there is no perfect solution, because people will always complain.

  • PC and console will always share the same build, so what you're asking for cannot be done.

  • @Khalednazari said:
It's not Wendigo. The word legion directs us to a number of people, and the reveal image depicts multiple shades of this person looking in the mirror. If we connect both the things, it leads to one man with multiple personalities. They probably even have names for each one of them.

"My name is Legion, for we are many."
It's referencing the character's MPD, nothing more.

The issue is you could lose up to 19 seconds being carried to the hook and or left slugged on the ground. Then you could just be left on the hook if the killers soft camping just outside terror radius or she crouches.

I think Nickenzie meant it in the sense that the timer shouldn't require a generator to be repaired, but the RBT would still be disabled during a chase, while in the dying state, and on the hook. At least that's how I would like it.

  • I mean, if you're going to make a fake Killer, at least check the real picture so that the two match.

I've actually had the same thought about the variety of maps, and it always feels like the indoor maps like "The Game" almost never come up, and yet in every play session I'm on coldwind farm

An idea I've had to help with this issue would be to track backward each of the 5 players most recent maps, and weigh the "common missing" maps more heavily, so an example would be

    Meg last 5 maps: Map 1, Map 7, Map 9, Map 4, Map 1
    Dwight last 5 maps: Map 7, Map 7, Map 1, Map 4, Map 9
    Claudette last 5 maps: Map 2, Map 7, Map 1, Map 9, Map 5
    Jake's last 5 maps: Map 9, Map 7, Map 1, Map 4, Map 5

    Trappers last 5 maps: Map 9, Map 8, Map 1, Map 9, Map 6

Since no player has recent been on map 3,4, or any map number above 10, it will weigh those maps more heavily, and since every player has been to Map 1 recently, it will have almost no weight.

Since Map 7 for one player has been played twice or more in the last 5 matches, it should also be weighed less heavily, as 3/5 times of playing on the same map would be boring, but this system would allow the best variety for each player in the match, and help avoid long streaks for any individual player (not counting
    map offerings of course).

A couple problems off the top of my head:
This would require a fairly complex algorithm that took into account every map in existence (and thus would only grow in size with each new map), as well as a way to save this information on their servers.
It'd incentivize DCing on "bad maps" (i.e.: maps you suck in), leading to the Survivors having more power over which maps the Killers play on (there's four of them, after all, and to take that into account would only make the algorithm even more complex) without even having to use an offering.

As the orangutan put it, sounds good, doesn't work.

it may be hard but its the fix we need to not go to coldwind every time its kinda getting old all i see is corn. dcing has nothing to do with this because dcing is a whole other matter to deal with separately

That can be fixed in a much simpler way, which is by randomizing realms before maps. However, the core issue is that humans don't understand probability, and that's a little out of the realm of possibility for even the best software developer.

  • @Keene_Kills said:
So, speculation then stating why there would be a problem if that speculation was correct? I don't see why that triggered folks, but alrighty then.

Keep throwing that word around, it really bolsters the illusion that you're right.

  • @Keene_Kills said:
Oh, so the definition of speculation? OK, folks, no more speculation; not allowed to speculate on teasers anymore unless it's to gush over the most pleasant of possibilities. Prepare for the arrival of our lord and savior, Mr. Hoodie Bland McMulti-Mask.

Amazing that a mention of one possibility triggered so many. It's like I posted a pic of the new Starbucks holiday cup.

You weren't just speculating. You speculated it might be X, then immediately judged the content based on your speculation, rhetorically asking if the devs had thought about the repercussions of the Killer power you made up.
TL;DR: You were judging unreleased content based on your speculation of what it'll be like.

If you DC past a certain unknown percentage of games (nobody knows what it is or if it's high or low, so ignore Master's comment), you get a ban. For each ban you also lose items and offerings that you may have used in the trial, all BP that you gained during the trial, and a couple pips.

Actually we know that the dc percentage must be under 30% since the dev add to change it after Mathieu cote goofed on stream and said the percentage was 30% forcing the dev to lower the bar to an unknow number to prevent people from tracking how much they can dc and still avoid getting banned

Could go either way, you don't know.

Crap... I really wanted a Wendigo, snow vamps, or Krampus :( Looks like a gritty reboot version of Last Year's Strangler with a generic mask.

OP is under the (false) impression that Killers should be forced to jump through thousands of hoops to make use of even the most basic game mechanic, or else they're "not skilled".

  • @Boomer said:
To me it looks like 1 killer 4 personalities with 4 different powers or 1 power that gets stronger as the game progresses. My guess is every hook it gets stronger, maybe having to hook different survivors and not the same one over and over. It would be a good anti camp/tunnel mechanic with the new killer forcing him to find different survivors.

I'm guessing four different powers. The tally on the side corresponds to each appearance of his personalities, and I'm guessing they're named in the same order that they appear in the mirror.

    Yeah.

They should give you blood points & pips for getting found, hit 2x, picked up, carried to hook, and camped out of the game.

In order to reward you failing at all of the things that allow you to pip, would 1000 bp/s and instant Iridescent Emblems be fair compensation?

    *waves participation trophy

^This is the only necessary response. If you want to be rewarded for failure, you picked the wrong activity.

  • Depends on how you define "fair".
If "fair" means "within the context of the rules and intended mechanics" or "acting on information gathered over dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of hours", then yes, absolutely, 100% fair.
If "fair" means "one's opponent can't use the tools at their disposal if they provide any significant advantage or require significant efforts to compensate for their usage", then no, it's not fair.

    Which is your definition?

How do you end the chase quicker?

Stop chasing them and do something else. Chase another survivor off a gen, kick some pallets you need to kick. A lot of killers get this thing in their head where the moment they find someone they chase them, relentlessly, until either they lose them completely or they catch them. It's during this time that the other get gens done because there is nothing to stop them. Really good killers keep pressure on all the survivors by knowing when to just give up on a chase. Yea it sucks that you have to let someone go that you could get, but sometimes it's better to do that because it disrupts the speed the GROUP does the gens.

So lose the chase over and over again, because every single Survivor is going to do the same thing.
