I've completed my goal of reaching 1,000 posts before the end of the year! I joined the forum back in May and man has this forum changed a lot. We've seen some dark times here in this forum but I always got a chuckle in the off topic section. I remember this one post asking for fully naked David! Not_Queen responded to that saying we're pretty thirsty but that it would most likely never make it to the game. Then the Korean feminists invasion with the spirit release....yeah never mind I'd rather not remember that. Sorry I'm still confused. So you vaulted and go stuck on a invisible wall or "air" as you described?
Yes this PTB has had a rather odd adjustment on map collision as many items appear smaller than their actual hit box. This may be a result of the new graphic/optimization they are testing or simply a bug with the PTB. I would hope it gets fixed prior to release but currently it will seem as if you are hitting an invisible wall that extends from an object on the map because the item and its respective hit box do not line up properly.

Yea, but would it be fun to play against. You realize people need to have fun to play a game and to continue to play it, right?
That is the problem, everyone wants to inject their idea of fun into your play-style. "Fun" isn't the same for everyone and we already live in a world where people cry/rage the moment something isn't how they like. I don't see DBD ever reaching a "balanced" state that suits everyone because they cannot change the core problem of this game...the community.
-
I only read the title but I suppose you can kill your friends in public. I would advice against it though because unless its a small tight knit community someone is going to rat you out.

P2P in current year LULMany games still use P2P as its cheaper. Remember this was sort of the big "break-out" game that got BHVR on the map so for them to buy dedicated servers and change the game code to run on said servers it will take lots of money and time. These things cannot happen quickly.
I agree it would be nice to see dedicated servers but I'm not holding my breath for such a thing with DBD. Perhaps down the road if this game plans on pushing a few more years or if something along the lines of DBD 2 comes out.

Can I get a rulebook, Idk what’s allowed and what isn’t anymoreI'm pretty sure at this point it is only acceptable for the Killer to stand still once spawned in. You are not allowed to look around or move in any direction.
This also applies to survivors, they too must stand still and not move/look around.
The rules of the game are simple last one to DC wins...or is the the first to DC? I always get the two mixed up.

Delete. But really I don't know. Anything in its current form is too powerful.
If it really has to be in the game and it has to involve the survvior stabbing the killer....perhaps make them wobble uncontrollably in pain. Boil over is 75%? Make this 200% for 5 seconds. That way it cant be abused by swf for flashlight saves like the last idea could, but it could really screw the killer over.
Or have it randomize the killers movement controls for that carry period. I.e. W becomes left, D becomes forward etc
I know the Devs had said something about making it freeze the killer in place for X amount of seconds allowing for the potential for a flashlight save or just a few seconds of wiggle time but I personally the idea of making the control go crazy. My only concern is how effective it could be as (on console more so than PC) boil over can mostly be countered by moving at an angle rather than trying to go straight.

So it wont affect most killers as most killers don't even play properly.
I'm sorry but who are you to tell someone how to play? Unless you paid for their copy of the game I don't see how you can say someone is playing wrong.
Oh ok then.
Well survivors bought the game to play it and enjoy it too. Maybe you lot could stop crying for nerfs every 5 minutes to ruin their enjoyment of the game.
Who are you to dictate how strong/weak each side should be?
Oh and stop crying about SWF flashlights, bodyblocking and teabagging. Who are you to tell them how to play?
I love how without knowing who I am you have assumed I'm taking sides in this ridiculous flame war killer vs survivor community. All I did was ask how its fair you can dictate how someone plays, be they survivor or killer. In the phrase I quoted from you you only mentioned "killers don't play properly" so I could only comment on what you said.
Not once in my short comment did I mention anything regarding game balance, game changes, SWF, or any of the other things you tried to claim I did. You my friend are a great example of why this community is so toxic. Rather then responding to what was written you inject what you want to hear so as to create an argument that was never there in the first place.
How about you put a little thought into your words before trying to brand someone with a title to fit your own narrative.
Cheers.

But survivors don't do gens that's the issue. Because either they feel bad about letting someone die on their first hook, or they don't want tk be oenalized for points. So survivors not doing gens for the reason you listed above is the fault of anyone who plays killer?

just because lockers can block auras, does not mean that every single survivor will either 1, think to jump in a locker, or 2, be close enough to a locker to get in one in time for the killer hooking another survivor. agreed the more 'stealthy' survivors will be aware of whats going on and most likely want to hide their aura in a locker, but there are so many survivors who wont. Let it play out and see for yourself.Your missing the point that along with all the other ways to hide your aura you now also have another avenue to use, lockers. Blocking the BBQ aura effect has become so brain dead.
1: Get within terror radius/appropriate meters
2: Hide behind a gen since they matched the auras to the same color.
3: Fake direction or stand still then move (only 4 seconds)
4: SWF or simple awareness you can tell where a killer is heading.
5: The new aura blocking perk (who knows how popular this will be)
6: Lockers. Its comical how many easy counters the aura reading has. Hell I'm sure I've missed a few too.

You have the right logic and you shouldn’t care what survivors say about your play style. But you can’t say your a good killer, becuase I don’t tunnel or camp (rarely patrol) and still manage 4ks with ease. That’s called skill. Camping around a hook just makes good survivors go straight to gens and 2-3 end up escaping a long and boring game with low bloodpoints. Play however you like but don’t try and justify camping as a skill becuase the game allows you to do it. It’s your right to play how you want, but it’s my right to inform you skill requires a bit more movement. To be fair "skill" doesn't need to involve more movement. If the survivors play into your camping "strategy" then that is their fault. It can be skillful to find the most optimal way to win the game such as playing to your opponents weakness. In fact in these cases less movement can yield the same results. I may not camp myself unless I'm patrolling some scratch marks but I won't hate on killer for doing so if its yielding results.

This isn't being typed in a condescending way I genuinely mean why don't you get some ideas out to the forums.
They could pull so much from folklore, we could have demons, fairies, native american skin walkers, ghouls and draugurs, vampires and liches. They get tons of ideas but they just want to keep rehashing their brand
I think the problem with going too far into a "fantasy" setting is that all the killers were once human and were pulled from the real world into the realm of the Entity. I by no means am against the idea of having more "beast like" killers but their direction has kept everyone on a humanoid level.

This is the PTB bald Dwight:

From what I've read Legion was the creation of several community ideas pushed together in a Frankenstein's Monster-esq way. The creativity mostly came from the community. As for the map I agree it feels a little bland but I've also only seen it from videos and not played it myself so the little details may still be hidden to me. As for the survivor he is probably made using Davids character model hence the similarities. He has the longest back story of any survivor and I'm sure he has the potential for some great skins.

Also the mask idea is very cool and adds depth to the killer by giving him a sort of MPD vibe. I'd love to know everyone else's opinions and I look forward to playing the new DLC.I won't comment on the Killers Power/tier placement until we get a few solid weeks with them. I will say this killers added "Deep Wounds" effect is going to change a lot in this game for better or worst. I also see loads of complaints incoming due to this effect as well.
We shall see.

@Avariku many things have already been done. They were re-balancing the game and starting to stop making every thing so survivor sided so killers would have no need to camp. Plus multiple perks were brought in to incentivize not camping and this worked well. I rarely ever encounter people above rank 15 that hardcore face camp for no reason. Borrowed time was already a thing, and it was already good. This is complete overkill. How can you like this? This patch ALSO nerfs the biggest incentive for not camping into the ground. BBQ will become a terrible perk after this patch goes live.Although I agree that Distortion perk will have adverse affects on newer or more casual (in time played) killers I don't really think having your BBQ aura blocked will do much. If you didn't see an aura before you assumed everyone was nearby and would search the area, now if everyone is running Distortion you will most likely still stay nearby in case people happened to be close. The only thing I see Distortion truly affecting in Nurses Calling.
-
@KingB said:
@Visionmaker distortion really only counters NC. If someone uses it for any other reason they obviously don't know hiding in lockers disables aura readings.I pray this is a joke if not then I pray that you never face anyone using BBQ. Best of luck.

Oh god people please stop saying things along the lines of "I main killer btw/I main survivor btw" and I don't think it is ever "OK" to disconnect. Even if you get a game that is going downhill you are negatively affecting everyone else's experience. I care little for the reason just don't DC, its a real jerk move.
Edited P.S: For the people saying RL problems sure that's true, as life takes priority over a game, but RL problems take priority over pretty much anything you may be doing so it feel pretty unnecessary as a response. Maybe I'm just in a bad mood today.

"Punished" by losing something that is useless because you want to keep it for...looking at it? xD
If the offering is so important to you then they probably worth more than a bloody piece of clothing. It used to be nice to get a piece of cosmetic back when there was no store , but now it's nothing special.
So yeah , if you want to keep the offerings that you can never use then don't prestige. Its great these things may hold no value to you but to say people should lose out on progressing their character in order to not lose these " mementos " as their only option is incredibly short sighted. It would not kill anyone to make these novelty items stay in your inventory.
Its always easy to belittle someone or something you don't care about but what value do you gain from it? There are those we enjoy collecting these items and it would be a nice "quality of life change" for them to not miss out on character prestige simply because they wish to save them.

3. Yamaoka estate
Its just really lovely and I love its whole aesthetic with all the bridges and the main house is nice too
What are your favorite maps??1: Lery's Memorial Treatment Theater.
Truly my favorite map as survivor and since I play Micheal/Wraith a ton its also my favorite killer map.2: Mothers Dwelling
I enjoy this map as survivor for the balance open and closed spaces, its sort of the reason I enjoy it as killer too simply because its not too hard to find people and as huntress I have some decent space for shots.3: Rotten Fields
This map is just so amazing I don-sorry I can't type this with a straight face. I hate this map.True 3: Yamaoka estate
Love this map as survivor since its easy to hide but I hate this map as killer since its easy to hide... -
